What is the best rate you have gotten for a full size car?
Right now, we have reservations for National
130 / week, 21.83 / day for 4 extra days with the DC discount our total BEFORE taxes is $159.67 for 11 days.
Is this the best deal that I'm going to get or should I keep checking back.
We are going at the end of September.
Thanks.

With National the rates are changing all the time!
If you have the time and interest to check back you may do even better. This board is great for giving a heads up at the rates dropping.
I am waiting for a rate drop for my time period...Jan. 02.
I booked the other day at not a bad rate but I believe it will go lower in the next few months but I have a ressie just in case it doesn't!
I have been tracking rates since last year to see what they would be around my time period so I have an idea what a good rate is. Last Aug. a rate for Jan. 01 for 11 days was $213.52 tax included. That is the rate I'm trying for. :D
Until I found these boards I had no idea what good rental rates were!
Happy rate hunting.

I too have am renting from National for 11 days and my rate is $235.11 taxe/surcharges incl.
Also, I was holding a ressie for Dollar for $109 a week. But with taxes, etc. it came to $239.11.
You may find a cheaper base rate like the Dollar ressie I had, but the discounts are deeper w/ DC thus, leaving the total estimate cheaper! Plus having an EA membership to choose is a bonus.
Both were for full size cars.
Hope this helps!

Chipmom, EA is emerald aisle membership. If you do not have one, go to National's website and sign up free for a limited time. It saves you $50. The benefits, in short, book the car you need and then go to the "aisle" and choose whatever car you like. Sometimes there are minivans, suvs and convertibles for your choosing at no extra cost.
Also, bypass counter, and just drive out!
Hope this helps you!:D

GoofT, How did you get that rate. We are going June 8 - 19 and the best I did was $255. Can you tell me how you got that with National? We have EA and DC. Thanks! Or how did any of you get those fantastic rates.

jhimes - Using your dates and the default time on the national website I got $239 quoted for your rental on a emerald isle fullsize. I used the DC contract code starting with 5 and the 1 day free internet coupon starting with 1. Are your pick-up & drop off times adding an extra day or hourly charges to your rental?:jester:

I called the Disney Club to get the DC code rate. They didn't know it. I belong to DC, but what is the code you use for the car rental special?

chipmom, go to the DC website - www.disneyclub.com
Then, scroll down to 1 free day with 3 day rental. Click on that.
copy down that # that starts with 1**** (it says contract code, but it is a coupon.
then click on the link to the national site on the botton of that coupon.
that should put you where you can make a ressie.
remember, the contract code starts with 5**** and the coupon code starts with 1***** and you must imput that. Your rate should show 2 discounts.
If you have problems, just PM me and I will try and help.

Pixie Dust -
Thanks so very much for the help. I have one more question. When I was talking to DC, they said there was also a 10% off on the next page (speaking of the DC website). I couldn't find it. Do you know what she's speaking of? I really do appreciate your help.
Thanks much,
Chippmom

Chipmom, I think what DC meant was that in addition to the coupon code, you can get anywhere from 10-20% off your car rental using the DC contract code. For us, we received 20% right now.
Hope this helps. Using those 2 codes is the 'best deal' going right now w/ national. If something else pops up, you will here about here, I am sure!
Have a great trip and hope this has helped!:)

I just enrolled in the EA club on the internet site and I also have DC. I'm confused, can I use both discounts or just one at a time? There is only one spot for a contract code and one for a coupon code. I can't seem to get my base rate down, it's actually lower using no codes! Been trying for a week now, don't understand how you're doing this! Also, I can get a lower rate is I add a day. Can I just do this and return it early? Thanks to anyone that answers!!

Minnietta, on the National website, enter the 1 day code (starts with "1") in the coupon spot and the DC contract code (starts with "5") in the contract spot. How many days and what days of the week maybe causing a problem...I think you need at least 5 days to get the best discount and the 1 day free is only for a weekend stayover.
I was able to get full size (EA) ressie for just over $20 per day for 14 days.

Jhines....
I got this rate by using the DC coupon code and the contract code. Now the rates are up to $144/wk without taxes. We're also going in Sept/Oct so that might make a difference.
I guess I'll keep watching to see if they go any lower then the $130 that I currently have.

As of this morning, when I got another price drop, I am paying $112.38 for a full size (EA) for June 5-11th.
That's using DC discount and Entertainment Book Free Day coupon.
For July 25-Aug 1st, using same codes, I am at 135.22 for the same car class, but, am hoping that will drop as the date draws nearer.

I cannot stress this enough! Rates drop as your departure date approaches. They start running "specials to go" and drop rates. So, as your departure date approaches, check daily! I have cancelled and rebooked some of my ressies up to the night before - last summer saving another $30 on top of my already reduced rate! Reserved a full size (chose an SUV) and paid $220 w/ taxes for 2 weeks! :bounce:

I checked again today for June 8 - 19 and it's higher than before. I used the DC coupon that starts with 1 and the EA internet code that starts with 5. My previous reservation is $255 total with taxes, etc. Seems everyone is doing better than me!!! I have an intermediate reserved - sure would like to get it closer to 200 total or would that seem unreasonable for that amount of time?!

I made an EA ressie for our eight day trip at the end of July quite awhile back, and thought the $179 was the best I'd get. But just checked back this a.m. and it was down to $163, so I made another reservation and will cancel the first. Yippee!
Just a reminder to those who are going into the DVC site to get the coupon/contract #'s: PRINT THOSE COUPONS AND BRING THEM WITH YOU. That way, the agent will have the discount info right there and (hopefully) can't argue with you. Better safe than sorry.... ;) .

I was determined to get a better rate since I keep seeing everyone else getting them. I got a new DC flyer today and it had a coupon with the codes in it. I was only entering the DC coupon code with the EA contract code. Well, I found the DC contract code and added that and ended up with a rate of 227.95 for June 8-19. Thanks to everyone for their advice. I'm going to keep checking before we go to see if we can get a better rate. But I'm happy that it went down some. Thanks to all of you!!!

My rate just went down too. I now have june 12-19 for $132 for full size. I think someone else post the same rate.
I have tried all combinations of discount codes, DC, Entertainment, EA code. The DC discount seems to be the best. I have been sticking to these two codes & little by little the rate keeps going down.

I listened to these posts and tried again today with the same codes. Well, the rate down to 187.90 for June 8 - 19. Great!!! I cancelled my previous ones and have a confirmation for this amount. Is it possible they will say no way when we go pick out our car? Hope not! Thanks to all of you.

jhines... I would just make sure you bring a print out of your confirmation & they will honor it, if there is a discrepency. Don't forget to keep trying.
