Thanks to all the great ideas from you guys, I bought 2 pillowcases to have signed on our October cruise. I hid them from my DDs and gave them to them at Christmas. They were very excited to see them! We were all talking about the cruise once again.
Of course, now they want to use them and I'm afraid to wash them! I think they were done with a Sharpie, but is there anyway to make sure the pillowcases won't come out of the wash completely white?

Hmmm, maybe you could trace over the signatures with an indelible ink pen, the kind that is made to withstand washing? Unless it was signed with that type of pen I would be afraid to wash it too. The laundry marker pens will withstand washing, though.
Good luck! ::)

Would you consider having someone embroider/outline with floss the signatures?

I've previously seen the tip that if you run the pillowcase in a hot dryer, that sets the ink prior to your washing it. That being said, I'd wash it by itself the first time in case any ink runs. (Wouldn't want anything else getting stained.)

I give this idea a big thumbs up and one area I had no problem with GS's! ;) We took the pillowcases (Mickey for the boys, Princess' for the girls) and also some Dollar Store MM photos (DH had removed from the frame) to have autograped. A couple days later when I picked them up I was really impressed how cool they were. I even got one made for myself. :cool: We presented them to each Grand w/a plush Mickey or Minnie to sleep with and I can honestly vouch they rank on their list of favorites! They could not wait to put them on the pillows! We steamed pressed them when we got home to hopefully seal the signatures in. :smooth:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to try the dryer thing and if that doesn't work, well then I guess we'll have to book another cruise and try again!

My daughter attends dance workshops and they have been getting their teeshirts autographed by the teachers and I was told by the other moms to put it in the dryer first and it does sit the ink. I have been doing this with all her autographed shirts and not a problem...............

Wow, another Marylander going on the 1/18/03 Magic. I also saw a post from Hopkins who will be on same trip! When are you leaving for MCO? Based upon the upcoming weather reports I am ready to go to BWI right now.... we're scheduled on the 17th to leave. Just can't wait!!!! How old is your DD - mine is 6 and we're traveling with friends who have a DD7. :wave:

My girls are 4,9 and 11. We are leaving the 16th. We're staying a day before in Walt Disney World. We will be with the whole family including the kids grandparents, an aunt, and 3 cousins. Hope the weather gets better in Fla. Its pretty chilly there right now.

I'm hoping that the rain, sleet and snow that's in our forcast for the next week clears out quickly! Last year when we flew to Florida we didn't need coats. I have a feeling that won't be the case this year. Maybe we can just wear lots of layers with a light jacket. Winter coats just take up too much room in the closet.
Have you gone shopping for pillowcases yet? I'm going to try to get to Target later today. I guess I'll also stop at Staples for the markers too!
I am so ready for this trip I'm gonna explode...mentally, I'm already there!

My kids are really excited too. As for pillowcases , my sister in -law ( who is going too with her 3 kids ) and her best friend ( who is going with her 2 kids) came up with the idea of tee- shirts. So that is what the kids will be getting signed.........:Pinkbounc

Last night I picked up a pillow case at Target for 3.99 and also got some Sharpie markers - they had new caribbean colors. I also got a cute PJ set for DD with princesses on it - thought she could wear it to Goofy sleep-over (if they still do them). Shhh, it's a suprise!

Our signed pillowcase came out just fine fromthe washer and dryer. Has been washed several times and no problem with signatures. Good luck.
