View Full Version : Wondering about DVC priveleges

In April 2003 I will be staying at the Contemporary. It is a relocation from SOG that my brother booked who is in the military. It will be my first trip to the world since joining DVC, however, I obviously will not be staying at a DVC resort.

If I tell the cast member upon check-in that I am a DVC member now would I be able to use DVC priveleges on that trip or not?

Thanks for your responses - Mel

DVC privileges are only available when staying at WDW on points. The one exception I've heard of is that we can always valet park without charge at the DVC resorts -- BCV, VWL and BWV (OKW doesn't need valet parking since you park outside your door).

You would also be able to use the dining & recreation discounts by showing your member card. Check the member website for a listing. About the only thing you couldn't do is pool hop.

Debbie, Where on the website is the info? I've looked around for it and can't find it anywhere. I've looked in the faq and the membership privileges and couldn't find it in either. I just think if I could find it, it might stop a lot of stupid questions on my part in the next few months. Thanks!

It's under Member News. Then Special Member Offers (on the left margin).

Thanks! I don't know why I didn't see it before, but that was exactly what I needed. I did not see mention of anything about valet parking. I thought I had also heard that was another benefit we had. Did that disappear?

Do you have to have your DVC membership card in order to get on the site? We actually just sent in our check & they should have received it today, so I don't have the member info yet.

What is the website - or am I "not officially allowed" to go on it yet. ;)

Enjoy!

We pool hopped to the VWL when we stayed at PO/FQ a month ago.

Obviously you did not know the rule, right?

nope - since this was a last minute trip i had no idea what the rules were - remember this was our very first trip using points. We did call the WL front desk and they told us to come on over. They knew ahead of time.

You may be able to pool hop if you are staying at a WDW resort on points, I'm not positive. At the DVC annual meeting I went to in 2000, they said that if you are using points at a Disney Collection hotel, your ID card will say "DVC member", just like if you were staying at a DVC resort and you would have member priviledges. On the other hand, the DVC member page only lists pool hopping for those staying at DVC resorts.

our parking slip for the car did say "DVC member"

Doc - we bought through a resale. Do you think I can call my resale agent & get the site info or should I just wait? It's not a big deal, I just thought it would be nice to be able to go to the site instead of waiting until all my info got here! I'm a little excited. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Call DVC at 1-800-800-9100 and explain your resale situation. They may provide the information you'll need to access the site. Otherwise, they certainly will do that once you've closed. You can try your resale broker or the seller.

Enjoy!
