OMG who agrees that the flower bathroom was GROSSSSSS!!!! Can you imagine what it will look like after the steam gets to the flowers?? I bet they colours run, the flowers wilt, etc...
It was sooooooo ugly - definately the WORST design I have ever seen on that show! Hildy has got to go!

That was truly awful, that bathroom was GORGEOUS and now it looks like, I don't even know anything to compare it to. When the homeowner asked if it was wallpaper I'm sure she was hoping she'd be able to just take it down. I liked the gold trim and the red panels but the flowers were just off the wall, so to speak.

You know...I think Hilde must sit down and say "how can I outdo myself?", That bathroom was gorgeous to start with...I would LOVE to have a bath that nice. I thought the couple handled it pretty well. I would have exploded!!

Oh - do I agree! I would absolutely kill (well, at least figuratively....) for the original bathroom!

If that had been me, I would have balked at desecrating those walls with those hideous flowers - it's like my elderly aunts invading my Grandma's grave with tons of plastic flowers.

How about that frat house where Doug (in his leather pants! My DH was like, "Why is he wearing leather pants to renovate a room?), painted the walls sour apple green.........

This is also the same woman who wanted to dye carpet a few weeks ago (I'm a carpet sales rep and there are any number of things that could go wrong with that idea). That bathroom looked great, IMO, before Hildi got ahold of it. Now, it looks like a fake flower factory exploded.

Within a few months, they will probably have a terrible problem with dust and mold from the steam that the flowers will be coming down.

I have to agree with everyone above. The bathroom didn't need remodeling before, but it sure does now (IMO of course)

I agree Michelle! When DH and I saw that bathroom, I said what is wrong with it???? He said it was bigger than our bedroom! :)

I did like what they did with the other couple's bedroom though, that was very nice....but those flowers......... Yuk!!

Pam, you mean you don't do house renovations in YOUR leather pants?? ;) :p

Cathy,
I try to stick to evening wear as a general rule!;) Although I have a couple of instances in the past where my feather boa got caught in the bench drill press........ and then there was the time my mink jacket went through the circular saw, talk about your fur flying......:o

I wear the leather hot pants for parent-teacher conferences, etc.

LOL Pam!!
The boa in the circular saw could be quite a scene too, but only if you are wearing it at the time!! :p

If Hilde is a member of any professional design organizations they need to kick her out!!! She is hideous! It's like watching a train wreck when she designs a room.

Hilde is the same fool who painted living room furniture and put fabric on the walls. Surprise, surprise - it rained in Seattle and the stuff got ruined (I'm still convinced the husband snuck out in the middle of the night and kicked all the tarps off)

I just finished watching it and was APALLED at what Hilde did to that beautiful bathroom. Truly ranks up there as one of the worst ever.

I swear I wonder if she goes home and thinks and thinks until she comes up with just the right plan to destroy a room. I mean who in their right mind would put 6000!!!!! plastic flowers on bathroom walls? I can only imagine the dust.

Dont forget she's the one that had people paint a mural of her on someone's dining room walls...

puts hay on walls. make a living room look like a circus tent. Flowers wall paper would have been better or even cut out picture of flowers. The room reminded me of a sleezy hotel.

HER and Kia the new girl have to go and Laurie needs to use someting else besides YELLOW.

I thought the original bathroom was wonderful and would love to have something that spacious and pretty.

I would never go on that program because I just know with my luck I would end up with Hilde as the desinger for my house and she scares me more every time I see her.

I think she outdid herself this time. I like the idea of the longer shower curtain and the inset panels with the lights behind them, but the flowers on the wall - yuck!

OMG! I fell asleep on the show and I was wondering how they handled those flowers. I couldn't believe she was adding them with a pneumatic nailer!!! Even when they take them down there will be thousands of little holes to plaster! I'd KILL her!!

I think they should check her for controlled substances...

I remember hearing that they don't do bathrooms because the room they have to decorate has to be at least 14 by 14 (I think). Imagine having a bathroom that large and beautiful only to find nailed plastic flowers on the walls!

I could just about die if anyone except Vern decorated my home. He and Frank have such taste.

I've started turning off the show whenever Genevieve is on. She makes me sick with that baby voice and non ending flirting with the males.... YUCK!! The college show... I had to find the remote PRONTO!

It was the worst thing I've ever seen. I agree that Hilde is one of the worst designers. She couldn't really think that is a good look for any room. That bathroom was gorgeous and could have been amazing if they had the right designer (or just one with taste). The worst part is that it will take lots of time and money to fix the mess she created. Someone will have to remove 6000 flowers and patch all the holes in the walls and then get rid of the gold paint. I would have cried right there on the spot. On te otherhand, Laurie's room was very elegant. She did a nice job.

We hardly ever watch that show but did last night. A friend was over and knew all of the names of the designers and hosts. I didn't realize what a following these types of shows had!

The flowers in the bathroom were awful! We had bets going to see if they were going to cry when they opened their eyes!

On the other hand, I was interested in that cabinet trick. Whenever I watch those types of shows it seems like they decorate for the moment instead of for a period. Those flowers are going to need to go within a month!

Just a few words for that bathroom came to mind: Cheap, tacky, UGLY and something one would find in a cheap Vegas hotel theme room!

That bathroom was a DREAM before Hilde got ahold of it. I'd have loved the orginal!

Was Hilde the same one that put the hay on the walls in the house with the little kids?

I can't even imagine using that bathroom......it was a nightmare!!!!

It was pretty gross! But, on the bright side they are friends with Laurie maybe she can redo it.

I love to watch Trading Spaces and wish Frank could redo my Kitchen.

I also can't stand to listen to Ty whine. Why is it that Amy Winn never has a problem finishing any of her projects but Ty comes short a lot of the time?

I can't believe the homeowners WANTED to have their bathroom done. They said it was too big! Is there such a thing as a too big bathroom?

Hildi has a wonderful reputation for her hideous rooms. At this point I have to wonder if she purposely tries to something truly ugly.

BTW, it was Gen who encouraged Doug to wear the leather pants in the college episode. You'll notice he hasn't done anything like that EVER again!

Flowers UGLY!

I can't imagine who gave Hilde a job as a designer. They must have been BLIND!

She does try to outdo herself and the home owners pay the price. If she was walking up to my door, I would throw can goods at her head.

I have always wondered what her place looks like. I bet it's beautiful because she would not do these types of things to her own place where she has to look AT THEM EACH DAY.

I like Vern and Laurie...I would have killed Hilde for the flowers.

Do you think she just tries to be outrageous? Her designs aren't just ugly. They are impractical and sometimes dangerous (remember the hay glued to the walls of the home with toddlers?)

I agree about the steam and mildew getting those flowers and the big problem of nail holes (what was it 6,000 flowers = 6,000 holes?)

On the bright side, wasn't Laurie's little guy cute? ;)

There should be a rule on that show that whatever the "designers" do needs to be easily undone. Those flowers were put on with a STAPLE GUN! How are they ever going to get them off.

I feel that people are really setting themselves up on that show and I usually don't feel sorry for them but this went way over the top. I thought that the homeowners took it very well and that the couple who had to put up the flowers really were very embarassed about the whole thing.

Gibson was very cute!

There was actually one case where the homeowner got to choose the designers???

Yup, it was the "celebrity" version with Natalie Maines (I hope that's right, she's one of the Dixie Chicks). It was a family swop, and can you believe it, HILDI was one of the people she chose to work with (the other designer was Vern).

were hideous. The bathroom looked like a model home on the designers tour, you know, no one would ever decorate that way, except some Dolly Decorator in a model home. I agreed that the room needed to be redone, it was BORING, and I loved the gold paint on the trim, and the red inserts on the doors. Notice how she used the "As seen on TV" tap lights in the cabinets to light them up. Like who has that kind of space in a bathroom cabinet?Iif someone stapled 6000 flowers onto my walls (and BTW, it was at least 2 staples per flower), I would not have held back. Hidle is also the designer who plastered over a gas fireplace, and the homeowner couldn'y use the gas logs any more. She has no concept (IMO) of what it means to have CHILDREN IN A HOUSE! Her designs are rarely, if ever, kid friendly.

I did like the shower curtain and window treatments, tho.

I honestly think they should get rid of her. She does not "decorate", she "ruins" rooms. That whole bathroom wall will have to be redone. She cut out the middle of the cabinet doors. She is just too over the top and should be fired. It really isn't any fun watching her...it is embarassing.

I also agree that Kia should go. She tries too hard to be "out there".

Certainly the wife and I thought the old bathroom could use some new paper and a LITTLE bit of character, but holy moly!! That was truely the most heinous redo we have seen on that show. I couldn't believe she also painted the trim and the cabinets that hideous gold. They handled it better than I would have, I think when I open my eyes I would have ripped off a piece of that gold trim and beat the ....................well you get my point, I would have been pissed!

Hildi also wrecked another house when she did the quadrant room. Did anyone else see that?

The room was divided into four equal sections - two sections were gray, two were magenta. Whatever fell into that section had to be that color.

Well the fireplace fell inbetween so she painted the brickwork half gray and half magenta. Then she glued shards of glass over top of the whole thing. Not pieces of mosiac glass, but whapped a sheet of glass with a hammer and used that. Then she grouted over the whole thing.

Tell me how those homeowners will ever fix THAT damage!

What bothered me more than the flowers was the destruction of the expensive cabinetry and woodwork. She screwed up by not having them sand BEFORE they painted, therefore the paint was not adhering to the wood. To make matters worse, she told the homeowner to sand AFTER he'd already started painting. It would cost a lot to replace all that cabinetry. I hated the tacky red inserts too. I guess they'll just have to keep the cabinets empty to make room for the tap lights

The whole thing looked like a no-tell motel when it was finished. The scariest thing of all is that Hildi doesn't even have any interior design credentials. Her background is in financial planning. The only one who has a real interior design degree is Laurie. Even Vern's degree is in architecture.

On the other hand, Laurie's room was beautiful as usual.

What a nightmare! I agree that the bathroom needed some color, but not those hideous flowers & that gold paint!!!!!!! Where the heck did she get the idea for the red inserts? Tacky and cheap looking!!!

Every time she stapled a flower, all I could think about were all the holes. The moisture in there will probably rust the staples. I think that Paige was shocked that the homeowners liked the bathroom!

I liked Laurie's room, but then again I like most of her stuff. BTW, she looks fantastic and her baby is so cute!

DH thinks those cabinets cost at least $6000. And he agrees that the way they did the paint means it will be next to impossible to just "paint them back white" (my bright idea).
I don't like Laurie or Hilde, but DH (and every other male I know who watches that show) LOVES Genevieve. I like Vern and Frank. Did anyone notice on this one there was a nice shot of Paige's,er, back-end crack when she was walking around helping them clamp the headboard in Laurie's design? DH noticed!
