Canopic chest of Queen Nedjmet
Late Twentieth Dynasty
The word canopic refers to any container used to hold organs after mummification. Four internal organs (the liver, lungs, stomach, and intestines) were removed, embalmed, and then placed in canopic jars. The jars were then placed inside the canopic chest, and the chest was put into the tomb during burial. Since this chest belonged to Queen Nedjmet, she is shown twice on the front side of the chest, standing next to the gods Osiris and Anubis.
The wooden statue on top of the chest depicts the god Anubis, who oversaw embalming and guided the dead in the afterlife. Anubis usually appears in the shape of a jackal, or as a human with a jackal's head.

I'll be there, have to get all my Hallmark Ornaments. I have the list and went out on the 24th to see who has what. I start at 7am at Kohls and don't know when I'll finish. Should be able to complete my list or come pretty close :)

We need more wrapping paper. Sandy Claws used it all up. :(
I am normally up, dresses and out the door by 8am for wrapping paper, cards, ornaments and maybe even a few gifts for next year.
Not this year, I am feeling a little under-the-weather and there is a good 8 inches of ice and snow on my car and in my driveway.
EROS have a wonderful time at the Museum of Science one of my favorite places to visit in the city.

Looks like I'm one of the crazy few that ventured out. :D DD, SIL and myself were out the door at 6:45 AM. Hit Target first. There was a small line of around 30 people waiting for the doors to open. (Nothing like the day after thanksgiving with 200+ people!) Found a very nice Gibson grape platter for $4.99. Wrap was 50% off and trees (what I really wanted) were only 25%. Next we went to the mall. Kirklands. 75% off. My kind of sale!!! It also helps that I get an employee discount there. :) So I got 75% plus an additional 20%. Walked out with 2 bags full for about $7.00 :D Went to a few more stores in the mall. Didn't find much. Then, I hit the motherload. Joann's!! 75% off. I noticed all the lights, ornaments, paper, ribbons and then........the TREE!! A 7.5 foot prelit noble fir for..........$37.50!!!!!! It was originally $150. I did the happy dance right out of the store. Brought it home and set it up to make sure all the parts were there and that they all worked. It completely dwarfs our current tree whose base is being held together with duct tape. I can't wait for christmas next year!!!

I was out at 9:00 this morning...apparently before anyone else was shoveled out.
Made my exchanges, and was home in record time....darn plow-guy still hadn't been to my house though....Thank God for those gas guzzling SUVs....lol
Stocked up on wrapping paper for next year....I've never done that before...I'm ready for Xmas all over again.

I really really hope everyone went out this morning and is too tired to go out tonight. I am in no mood to deal with more grouchy people than I have already dealt with today... and today is one of my long days working 2 jobs.... :( GAH! And I have to work with all boys which is like being back in pre-school!

Headed out around 6:40 a.m. - made one return, got several new holiday decorations and a few extra things that I had considered buying as gifts but didn't - was home by 8:15!
It really wasn't crowded at all! No wait for the return or checkouts.
I was at Target when they opened, only half a dozen people waiting, most of them men ages 50-65 who grabbed two cards and made a mad dash to the holiday lights. They were literally clearing the shelfs of lights when I got there. Very intense and competitive, they had the aisle blocked off with their cart and gave out dirty looks to anyone who squeezed by - good thing I wasn't looking for more lights!

Compared to you guys I started late (about 10:30). We went to the malland was very surprised that I got a parking spot pretty darn close to the entrance. That in itself made my day. The kids used some of their mall gift certificates at clothes stores ( we were in and out of there pretty quickly). went to Yankee Candle Store and got good discounts there too. Few more stores in the mall. Lunch in the food court and was out of the mall at 2pm loaded with bags ( and not feeling stressed).
Went to Target and got wrapping paper bows and 2 big nutcrackers all at 50% off (nutcrackers look beautiful on mantle). Then next door to Linens N Things. There I got an 18 ft. lighted garland for $5.00 and a picture frame for $4.99 ( again...gotta love 50% off). I could've bought more, but by that point the natives were getting restless and wanted to play with Christmas gift so home we went.
I think the best thing I got today were the nutcrackers.
