Hi, after spending more on last months WDW vacation than my entire wedding ( and it was a nice wedding ), I am looking at cost cutting the next trip.
What is the BEST airfare price you've recently got?
If that's too personal to post, you can e-mail me and I'll keep it quiet. email@example.com
BTW, I paid a TOTAL (all taxes and transfers) $1148.00 for the three of us (not incl baby ~ he's free) on Air Transat From Toronto to Orlando in April 2001. I booked it 6 months in advance.

Sandra - It's not exactly recent, but I still think fondly of our January 1996 trip when we paid $288 per adult for our airfare, hotel, AND rental car. DS, who was 2 1/2 at the time cost us $250 for flight only, and our 5 day parkhoppers cost $199 Cdn each. (Canadian dollar at par deal). Those were the days.
Our Canada 3000 flight last November was about $1450 for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 paying children).

Sandra, there's an ad in today's Windsor Star for a website called www.exit.ca that advertises airfare for Toronto to Orlando for $169 (not sure if this is only one way) for travel between July 1 to October 31. If these dates are too soon for your next trip and you'd like to lock-in a good fare in the foreseeable future, perhaps Spirit Airlines out of Detroit may be an alternative. Al though they've had problems in the past, I have booked them for 2 upcoming Florida trips. For a premium flight time (early on a weekend) their prices are hard to beat, especially for a direct flight.

Given that we live almost equidistant between Toronto, Detroit and Buffalo I can keep my options open. We flew Spirit out of Detroit on Dec 31, returning Jan 9, for Cdn$315/person (the best price for Canada3000 for the same dates was $469, before taxes).
Some people really slag Spirit, and although we had a few poblems it was nothing serious. On the flight down we were checked in to non-existant seats (that was the location of the galley) but once everyone had boarded the flight crew did an excellent job of finding us seats together with a minimum of disruption to other travellers. Our return flight was delayed 2 hours, but it was a weather-related problem with our plane getting into Orlando.
Their planes are nothing fancy, no meal service, but if you're looking for a cheap alternative to Canada3000 or Air Transat (and getting to Detroit is feasible) check them out. A number of people on the budget and transportation boards have also found good deals on Southwest out of Buffalo.

Sandra: Last November we paid $175.00 on Canada3000. With taxes it came to $257.00. I found out about it at the C3000 website even before the travel agent I had first called did. She called me back but I had already booked it myself online. I got an online receipt, and a receipt/itinerary through the mail. I picked up the tickets on the day of departure at the airport. The only problem I had was calling the night before to confirm because it was an automated service and they didn't change the schedule until after midnight. So I should have called earlier in the day and spoken to a "live" person, which I did on return.
I booked the flight in early September but as the time got closer, I saw more and more discounted flights being made available, some even a little cheaper but because of the fuel surcharge, it ended up being about the same as what we paid. (We booked/paid before the fuel surcharge was added). Hope this helps. :D

We had Air Transat last August at $350/person (and there were 5 of us). It was a much better deal than Air Canada which was around $1,000/person - however it was not a great deal in terms of service. At that time too Air Canada pilots were going to strike - so I didn't want to risk it. I booked the flight 2 months in advance. Go online to travelocity.com or directly to the airlines and price shop - you may find alot of choices and maybe a deal!
