Fast Passes, We Dont Need No Stinkin Fastpasses!

The (getting less WDW resistant) DH & I went this past September on another trip to WDW. September of 2011 we took our GDs & DIL, but this trip was just the two of us. To get started I will introduce ourselves, me Doris, a 64 year old granny who loves just about anything Disney & my DH Bob, a Disney resister.

We are historical re enactors, thus the strange clothing. This was an event we attended the week before our trip. pirate:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012034.jpg

This was me before an event I was attending for George Rogers Clarks birthday. This is my new avatar photo, I thought it came out ok.

I wasnt sure if we were going this year since I was waiting for FD to pop up. Also it had to be offered for our usual time of travel. I received word from Visa of the offer, so I made reservations & the price was right for AKL!:goodvibes

Our trip dates were September 10 through September 15 of 2012. Our last trip was the day after Labor Day & I was not happy about the rush to get ready for our vacation. This time I waited until the next week which was a smart move on my part!

Since this was our first deluxe resort I was especially excited. I was also a little wary since I was not too sure about the African theme.

Our flight out of Dayton left at 7:00am, when the reservations were made departure time was 9:30 or so. I loved the fact the time kept getting earlier, gave us more vacation time & who cant deal with that! We arrived around 8:40, headed to ME, where the line for AKL was empty. We waited about 15 minutes for the bus & were the first ones on! I thought we would be on a fairly empty bus, but no such luck. There were stops at AoA, PoP resorts & Kidani before our stop at Jambo.

We arrived at AKL around 10:30, gathered our carry on luggage & tried to gather the sights all in! When we entered the main building we were stunned my the sight of the magnificent lobby!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012101.jpg

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012093.jpg

Went to check in & discovered our room was ready. We were sent to room 4137, which was a level above the lobby. It was a long walk to our room which wasnít too bad. The lighting in AKL seemed to be on the dark side. My other problem with the interiors of the lodge was that it was so darned cold! I would freeze everytime I left the room.

We arrived to the room in time to see the CMs installing the new door locking system. We had a problem in that our room was in the middle of the installation process. We could not leave our because there was a hole instead of the doorknob! We sat around in there for over an hour. Finally we spotted the head housekeeper in the hall & told her of our wanting to leave. She told us to go ahead & she locked the door so our luggage would be safe. In hindsight we should have asked for another room. When we finally got back to our room the lock was finished, but residue from the installation was all over the floor. It was a couple of days before it was swept away.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012127.jpg

After getting out of the room we did a little scouting of the property. This was out back towards the pool.

The covered walkway was how one got to Mara the QS food area.

Itís been so long since Iíve written a TR, I was having problems with the posts. I think Iíve got it figured out now!:confused3

Anyway we decided to take a tour of AK since we were pretty close & it was after 12 by now. The AK bus come pretty quickly so in what seemed like no time at all we had arrived at the park.

Our first ride was EE where there was no line & standby time was 5 minutes, yes that is correct, 5 minutes. We hopped on board for a thrilling ride. It had been several years since I had ridden EE since doctor told me I wasnít supposed to ride that type of ride. Well I figured I was ok now & I certainly was. The one thing though it made me queasy which rides never did before. I think it has something to do with age & riding backwards. It was still lots of fun! ;)

Next up was the Safari, standby time was also 5 minutes. It seems this is the beginning of a theme, didnít catch on at first. As usual we enjoyed the ride, but did miss the zebras. I noticed the bridge no longer rocks & rolls like it did several years ago. The whole poaching saga is no longer in use it was kind of hokey anyway.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept046.jpg

I love those curly horns & that white coat.

Dad nesting!

More scenery.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept049.jpg

More of the curly horns!

Thanks for the kind words about my clothing Ellen. I make all of them myself because I like to & they are so freakin' expensive to buy!

My pictures were taken mostly with my iPhone because I didn't want to carry anything! So they won't be of the best quality.

We really did fall in love with AKL on this trip. I really do think we should have changed our room because of the inconvenience. It shouldn't have been a problem as most of the rooms in that hall were empty the whole time were there.

I'm joining in too. I also love your costumes. I wish I could sew like you. I'd love to make myself something to wear for our up coming cruise for pirate night. A talent like that would also come in handy for Halloween...anyways looking forward to hearing all about your trip.

Another sewer here, although I never made a dress from curtains and it certainly is a great idea. Your historical costumes are great.

It's been 7 years since I stayed at AKL on a trip with my family and staying at that lodge was a special treat for me. I love wildlife and I LOVED AKL. You didn't say if you had a safari view room. My DD and I couldn't spend a moment in our room....cause we were perched out on the deck of our safari view room watching and taking pictures every moment we were in the lodge. I can't wait for the day I can stay there again when visiting WDW.

Great start. I have noticed that bridge only rocks off and on and not always. I beleive it did for us in Nov. because I remember my nieces eyes getting really big when it happened. I think it's the first time it has done it for many years though for us.

We just love AKL, but my cousin stayed and she had some issues with it too.
I can't wait to hear more!

Joining in for the ride! Which apparently may be a fast one since you don't need fast passes! I love the costumes, beautiful and what a neat thing to share!

Off to a very good start, I love AKL/AKV and AK is one of our favorites as well. It is just a magical and very different experience staying there, I really think everyone should do it at least once.

Glad you like my historical clothes. I try to make them as correct as possible. I also do hearth cooking demos, which I really enjoy.

Happy to meet another sewer. About all of the sewing I do now is historical. I use a lot of curtain fabric to make historic clothes.

We had a standard view, but spent a lot of time at the lobby overlook. The night viewing was awesome.

Here the giraffes are in the open. I canít get enough of them. Hard to believe the males will fight to the death over the females!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept033.jpg

Of course the lions werenít out, nor were the cheetahs in sight. All of the zebras were someplace else since WDW was creating a new area for them. The new zebra area was in the old poaching scenario location.

We decided to check out Dinosaur next. Guess what, standby time was 3 minutes! The ride was as jerky as usual, but I loved it. Nothing like a few jerky rides to get oneís joints back in order beats a chiropractor!

All of the rides in AK seemed to have a very short standby time. We were beginning to see a pattern & were hoping against hope our entire stay in WDW would be like this!pixiedust:

On our way to the exit we decided to try the Nemo Musical. We have never seen this as we arenít much for the shows. I will say we have seen most of them, but once is enough. Nemo was really pretty good & Bob wasnít griping about being there! He hates musicals & cartoons, so I was doing good to get him in there. I didnít push my luck to see anything else. So I still have not seen Lion King, maybe next time.:rolleyes2

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept032.jpg

It was so dark in there, made it hard for me to get any good photos, this was it. The rest had to be deleted.:p

We wanted to eat since the last thing we ate was McDonaldís at MCO. Our plan was to eat CS for dinner & save the TS credit for a signature meal later. I had heard about the Pepper Market Buffet, so we were going to try that. Left AK & caught a bus to CSR. Bob was starting to get grouchy as he was hungry! Donít keep that man away from his meals! Arrived at CSR, footed into the Pepper Market, no buffet! I didnít know the buffet was only for lunch! We were sorely disappointed, now what?! :confused3

Well it was back to our first choice, WPE! We hopped on another bus to DTD to get something to eat. All I can say is we had a nice, but long ride. It was around 5 before we finally got something in our bellies.

Bob ordered his favorite, the Half Rotisserie Chicken Rosemary & mashed potatoes. Also a nice cold Yengling to wash it down. Now he was a happy camper.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept053.jpg

I ordered the Cavatappi Chicken Alfredo with a Sprite to drink.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept050.jpg

Bob had the CrŤme Brulee Cheesecake for dessert.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept052.jpg

We did some exploring when we returned to AKL.

Great picture sof the animals...especially the giraffes. :)

Sorry you didn't know that Pepper Market was only a buffet for breakfast and lunch and not dinner. Now it's back to not being a buffet for any of the meals. We had the buffet for breakfast on our departure day last month.

After we finished our exploring, we filled our mugs and headed to our room where Bob added some adult liquid to his Diet Coke. We sat on the balcony enjoying the nice weather and each other. :thumbsup2

So far the weather that day had been very nice, not real humid and tolerable sunshine.

Tuesday morning had arrived it looked like today would be a nice day like Monday was.
We decided to try Mara for breakfast I mean how bad could it be?

I had a Mickey waffle and Bob had the Bounty platter. I forgot to take pictures, sorry. The food was ok, nothing special, but nothing bad either.

We were getting a rather late start since no grandchildren this time. This meant no rush to the parks so as not to miss anything! We headed out around 10:30 to Epcot.:moped:

After a short wait for the bus we were on our way to Epcot. We got through bag check fast since all I had was my VB tech case to carry my iPhone and of course Bob wasnít carrying anything. This is the way I like to travel in the parks, but I donít get many pictures.:rolleyes1

Soariní was the first thing we rode, standby time was 5 minutes. This was becoming a standard for our trip. We rode Soariní twice in succession! Sweet! Next up was the Land, no wait boat after boat was empty, woohoo!

After leaving the Land is when I decided on a title for my TR if I were to write one, Fast Passes, We Donít Need No Stinkiní Fast Passes, with thanks to The Treasure of Sierra Madre!

I was going to make it my goal to take photos of all our ride wait times!:woohoo:

Next up was Mission Space! The funny thing is the times didnít show on these types of signs. I didnít notice it until I downloaded my photos, anyway the standby time was 3 minutes & 5 minutes.

It was getting to be time to eat so we headed over to the world showcase. I wanted to try La Cantina de San Angel in Mexico. This was the crowd at 11:30 or 12:00 when we were heading to Mexico.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept061.jpg

Not very busy at all. The way we love to see WDW!

This was my order the Tacos de Carne with pico de gallo, lime and corn chips with Pineapple Jarritos. I also had coconut Paletas for dessert.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept057.jpg

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept056.jpg

Bob had the same thing except he had Churritos with milk caramel for dessert. I really wanted to like this, but the beef had a strange seasoning on it. Bob, who loves all Mexican food hated this. He thought the flavoring taste liked bad barbecue. We ate most of it, but would defiantly not order it again. He likes the churritos, but I never have, too greasy for me. The Paletas had a good flavor, but after awhile it grew tiresome. There is too much coconut fiber in it, I got tired of chewing.

We did have some excitement at lunch that I could have done without. A squirrel decided to literally join all the diners for lunch. He was very aggressive, jumped onto the chairs and sometimes the tabletops! I thought he was going to run up someoneís leg as he was that close. I was afraid the darn thing would jump on me, made for a nervous time. It did jump on the chair next to Bob, but I had gone to get my dessert at that point. Bob did chase him down, but he still hung around for a while. He finally found someone else to pester. They really need to do something about the squirrels. I was afraid that a child would get bitten. The darn thing was running around peopleís feet under their tables! Much too close to nature for me!

Next up was El Rio de Tiempo, of course no wait just walked on. After that is was Maelstrom.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept058.jpg

I know this is not a great shot of Epcot like most however how many visitors to WDW get to see numbers like these!?

We toured the around the world for awhile checking out the shops and the countries when we decided to head back to the front of Epcot. We didnít want to walk all the way back around so it was on to the boat for a shortcut!

We stopped in the Cool Zone so I could have a glass of Beverly. I know most donít like it, but it is a favorite of mine. Quite refreshing and tasty!

On our way out we passed Destination Earth and since this was the wait we hopped aboard.

Our last sight on our way out was Disneyís remembrance of the September 11 anniversary. Very respectful indeed.

Somehow one of the pictures printed twice. This is the missing photo, it was how crowded it was on our way to Mexico to get something to eat.

I remember when epcot used to carry McDonalds fries and seagulls would dive onto people all the time. it was kind of scary looking. I saw many people just throw the whole order of fries to get them away. I swear that is one reason they got rid of them. Evidently the seagulls are McDonald junkies.

Seagulls are awful pests, can't enjoy food on the beach without them trying to grab it!

I'm trying to keep it rolling, but in two weeks we leave for Florida. We will be gone for 6 weeks! I will be able to post when gone, but I will be pretty busy lying on the beach or at the pool!

Oh please to busy laying on the beach:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am scared to try some of those mexican dihes and you have proven me right !!!!I also only once ate in Morrocco and did not enjoy that either !! I guess I am not adventurous in the food department !!Added that before some smart alec had a comment:rotfl2: I will be careful what and if I order any mexican food at WDW!!!

Rosie I will very hard at work on my tan and you know how hard it can be lying on a beach!

I do like Mexican food as long as it is not too spicy, but I didn't really care for those tacos at the Cantina. I am not very adventurous with food either, must be the English blood in me.

Wow - Just wow! It's been a couple years since I visited in September and those crowds just seem extraordinary low! You are making me rethink the whole September visit thing! No wonder Bob likes it so much.

I have to tell you - I ate at the QS in Mexico once and I really didn't care for it - at all! I know a lot of people enjoy it and I love Mexican, but I didn't love this is and with so many other great places to eat, why bother. Expect the view is nice!

Your trip is really off to a great start with a great morning in Epcot!

Inebriated purchase? I'm intrigued! ::yes::

We arrived back at AKL after our stop at Epcot. It was around 1:00 & since we didnít need to be anywhere it was decided to hang out at the pool. AKL has such a lovely pool area. It feels like you are alone with all of the vegetation hiding everything. These pool shots were taken later, but this is a good spot for them.:thumbsup2

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012102.jpg

This was beyond the spa to the left of the pool, the Savanna.

This spa was the smaller one on the left of the pool hidden by greenery.

We spent most of our spa time in the smaller spa. The large one was emptied one day so it was out of commission for the day. The small one was also emptied another day, so we used the large one. I canít seem to find any pictures of the large spa. I thought we took some. Oh well.

This was one of the view from a hallway window.

It was time for us to get ready to head over to the Poly for our dinner at Ohana. We had never eaten there & since Bob is a voracious meat eater, Ohana sounded like his kind of place.:woohoo:

We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom which wasnít too long of a ride. Once there we hoofed it over to TTC to catch a ride to the Poly. The monorail wasnít there so we decided to ride the boat over to Poly. This was a nice paced ride. The Poly is such a pretty resort.

We disembarked from our boat and headed up the walkway to the entrance. On the way I got to see and hear a proposal of marriage. The couple was in one of those swings, well she was, he was on his knee! We saw a proposal last trip, now one for this trip, sweet!:cloud9:

Since we were early we did some window shopping. I loved the items in the Wyland Gallery, it was so nice. After looking and thinking about some item, we had to go as it was getting close to our 5:15 ADR.

It was crazy crowded at the check in stand! Where did all of these people come from? So far we hadnít seen that many in the parks! We had to wait in a pretty long line just to check in and tons of people were waiting in a seating area. We made it up ot the hostess stand gave our name and were to wait with the others. I thought we would be waiting a long while, but within 10 minutes were seated!

Our bread and salad were served as soon as the drink order was taken. I got this puppy, which was something I had wanted since I had started coming to WDW years ago!:worship:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept068.jpg

Hard to see her but the lady singer with her ukulele was doing her thing in the left side of photo.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept070.jpg

She announced for the people who were married & those not, were in love to come up to dance. I made Bob get up and dance of course he griped about it, but he was ok. We each got leied which was fun.;)

Ohana was ok, but wouldnít return. Too much food, meat was ok, shrimp was really good. The bread needed butter, bread was just meh. Noodles didnít have enough veggies. Bread pudding is not my thing, but this was ok just too much after all of the other stuff. We tried it and were glad we did, but once is enough.

On the way out I decided to stop into the Gallery again as I couldnít get an item that I saw out of my mind. Bob told the salesgirl she was lucky I had the LapuLapu as it made me careless with my money! Of course I denied it and we had a good laugh!

This is what I bought as my Disney souvenirÖ..

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/stuff/7c2b92e1916d97794431aab24baad385.jpg

I donít care if it was unnecessary but I loved it and I still do.

Caught the boat again, made back to TTC, thought about the MK, but Party was getting near to starting time. It was getting crowded around there. We went to get a bus back to AKL. As we waited one of the other bus drivers had an accident. Somehow she had gotten stuck on the curb. No buses could get around her it was crazy for awhile until they could get her going again. Busses were delayed and backed up a long way. It took about 30 minutes before all was put right.

Got back to AKL, walked around outside a bit, did the night goggle thing. Had a nice conversation with a CM from Nairobi, she was a park ranger in her country. She was very interesting to talk with.

Headed back to our room chilled out with adult beverages, watched tv, went to sleep!

If we seem boring with no fireworks late nights it is because we really needed this vacation. Our last two months of summer were bad for us.
At the end of June I had an emergency that landed me an ambulance ride to the hospital with a 6 day stay. After surgery I was back on the road to recovery. While I was in the hospital a storm hit which tore some of our roof off and knocked down some of our trees. The day I went home we had no electricity and it was over 90 degrees. Since the electric was out that meant we had no water as we are on a well. At least the power was restored the next afternoon. It had been out for several days.

Trying to get the roof repaired has been a nightmare. We used Loewís and it is now almost February and the roof is still not finished. They need to come back to fix the damage their contractor caused. We just get the run around. Anyway Bob was so tense with all of these things he needed vacation more than I.

AKL was the best gift we could have given ourselves, Disney magic at work again!:wizard:

Next update, our visit to MK and backside of Splash MountainÖ

Love the necklace!

I've heard that if you contact Lowe's corporate office, you might be able to light a fire on your roof repair. Hope it gets done soon. I hope you are fully recovered from your surgery.

Thanks for the compliment!

The drink is made of rum and some juices, it's $14 which sounds like a lot, but since the pineapple is pretty full it is like having a little more than two drinks. It was pretty good.

I'm cathing up after being sick last week.

I love an empty Epcot. It just dawned on me that you were there right before us...we actually arrived on the 15th.

I LOVE the AKL and hope to stay there in 2014 when we bring our son and his new bride. The pool area is beautiful (although the year we were there, the love bugs were so bad that I could not enjoy the pool).

We've never done Ohana...I hear pros and cons on it; I'm leaning to not giving it a try after reading your review.

I absolutely adore your necklace. :goodvibes

We left on the 15th around 4:00, funny we just missed you! We didn't have any problems with bugs, in fact that week was just about perfect! Weather wasn't humid, nor was it sunny. The worst rain was when we were waiting for ME to take us to the airport, it came down in buckets about a half hour.

I love it, never have I bought something like that at an amusement park!

Wednesday we woke up at 6:00 am as usual, canít seem to sleep in anymore, Bob made his coffee while I lazed for a few moments. He asked why donít we go to the hot tub this morning as we do at home. I thought about a second and sure why not? Off we went to the smaller spa, no one was there. It was wonderful, no children yelling and using it for their playground! Just the two of us.:cool1:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012108.jpg

Bob with his coffee.:coffee:

We decided to have breakfast at Mara again. Bob had the African Inspired Breakfast Plate; scrambled eggs, Marguez sausage, pap, chakalaka and grilled tomatoes. I ate some of his eggs. Iím not a big breakfast eater and this was the first day of us splitting the CS meals. We had decided those were too much food.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012120.jpg

I also had a croissant, which I could eat a ton of these!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012119-1.jpg

A wider view of the our eating area, there are several areas like this around the pool.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012121.jpg

It was time to head up to our room to get ready for our park of the day, the Magic Kingdom! We headed out to grab a bus ride which soon picked us up and whisked up to the park.

It took very little time to get through the gates. We did a slow walk down Main Street, peered into some of the stores. First on our list is Tomorrowland! Our first ride was Buzz Lightyear!

Of course the Standby time was 3 minutes which doesnít show on this kind of sign!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept074.jpg

We rode this 4 times in succession, twice together and twice in our own car! As we entered the dump shop the CM would ask if our score was higher than the last time! For some reason our score kept getting lower! We could have ridden a few more times as there still was no wait! Love these September wait times! :cheer2:

Next up was Fantasyland and Cinderellaís Golden Carousel. I always have to ride this. Bob watched as I rode, itís to scary for him, gets motion sickness going in circles!

Next up for me was a solo trip on the Teacups. Sign with the Standby time:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept075.jpg

I had fun all by myself, spinning the cup as fast as I could go!

We made our way to Frontierland and BTR:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept077.jpg

Of course a very short Standby again.

Next up was Splash Mountain

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept078.jpg

Hereís where it gets tricky to say the least! We get our log pretty quickly and are enjoying the ride.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept079.jpg

Suddenly our log stops short before the big drop at the end of the ride. As we are sitting there wondering when it will start again we get the announcement to please stay seated ride will resume momentarily. We get this warning several times. After 10 minutes or so the announcement changes to we will have to come and get you out of there. Please stay seated in the log.

This is the best picture I could get of Bob in the darkness. Notice the side of the waterway behind Bob. It turns out to be where we have to climb out onto!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept079.jpg

In the background a door opens and several CMs appear. We are told please take no pictures. I was glad Bob & I sat in the last seat of the log as the rest of the passengers had to climb over the seatbacks to the back seat to get to shore. We had to step on a little niche in the side of the rocky bank, then step over that to the sidewalk. After the log was emptied, we went a short way on the sidewalk to a door. The door led out to a short stairway and a backlot. We walked around the building into another then out into the front of SM. As we exited all of us were handed an all purpose Fast Pass! This had to be used in the MK, but it wasnít needed! Still fun to get! Now we have a great story to tell when asked about our Disney trips!

Next up was Pirates of the Caribbean, one of our favorites:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept081.jpg

We used our FP on this ride as we didnít know what else to ride using the FP.

It was time to break for lunch so it was decided to try Harbour House. We picked up a shrimp meal with French fries, cole slaw & the apple dumpling. We split this and a bottle of water. It was plenty for the both of us. Bob didnít care for the shrimp, but I thought is was good. The dessert was very tasty and the fries were just fries.

Next up was the Jungle Cruise. We noticed there was a wait of 20 minutes, but hey we didnít have any waits the whole morning so it was ok. However as we started to enter the line a couple walked up to us and asked if we wanted their FPs for the cruise! Heck yeah, how special was that!!? So again we were in luck with the wait!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept082.jpg

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept083.jpg

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept084.jpg

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept085.jpg

After this we thought itís time to head back as there wasnít anything else we wanted to do. Then ack, I almost forgot, the Haunted Mansion! Off we went to ride, thought oh no we will probably need a FP to ride this. Well, no wait there either, but I forgot to take pictures.

I did take a picture of the new castle when we were walking around Fantasyland, forgot to put it into the right place.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept076.jpg

On the way out we decided to ride the train around the Kingdom. I hadnít ridden it in quite some time. The train is a nice way to get around the park.

Thought we would be back to the MK later, but somehow we didnít make it back.

Next up dinner at Fultonís Crab HouseÖ.

What a marvelous idea of going to the hot tub BEFORE going to the park. We are going to have to try that in August. :goodvibes

You really did great on all of your wait times and fastpasses for two of them. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear about your meal at Fulton's. We have always loved this place, but the last time it wasn't so hot and I've been afraid to go back. Since it's not talked about much on the DIS, I'll be anxious to hear your thoughts.

Sorry I missed your last two updates. I seem to need that bat signal! :) I tired of Ohana after three meals there, so I see you tired a lot quicker than me. I do think the shrimp is great, but why does it have to be served last?

Nice way to start of your mornings with a trip to the hot tube. :thumbsup2

I have never been walked off Splash or Space, but I've always wondered what it would be like if it happened. Good thing it wasn't crowded.

Coming back later for pics. Fun updates.

And I forgot about your surgery and your roof. Hope you can get that roof fixed. You really DID need a vacation.

Both of us decided Ohana was ok, but not something to do again. We did enjoy the shrimp, I think they serve it last so less is eaten!

Going to get back to Lowes in the spring.

Walking off Splash Mountain was an adventure for sure. The surprising part was to find on walking outside we were only a few feet off the ground!

We didn't hate Ohana and I did love the dumplings, but it was so much food. We are finding for some reason we aren't hungry at WDW.

Oh what a wonderful way to wake up! A dip in the hot tub!
Awesome morning with no waits! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Glad you didn't let the SM breakdown get you down. I had that happen only once, on Spaceship Earth!
Also, score on the surprise fastpasses!

A friend of mine got on Spaceship Earth not long after it opened. Her & herDD had to walk down from the top! That is bad, hope you didn't have to do that!

Those dips in the AM were so wonderful.

It was so nice to be surprised by the fast passes.

Getting off Splash Mountain like that was scary at first. If you look at the sides of the chute you can't see a logical place to get onto the side. It was tricky stepping out of the log!

I would have loved to have gotten some pictures, but the CMs were pretty adamant about not taking any!

After leaving the MK we decided to have some pool time and another walk around the resort.:thumbsup2

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012116.jpg

The animals were usually out everyday, mostly the cow ones & the giraffes.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012115.jpg

This is a view through a window.

This is overlooking the flamingo pool by the pool. Every morning around 8:00 the CMs cleaned the flamingosí pond. The birds make quite a mess everyday. One morning I asked the one of the CMs if please could I have a pink feather. He scooped one out of the area and Iím now the proud owner of a pink flamingo feather! :goodvibes

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012089_zps188a86b3.jpg

Another view of the flamingo pond, the grayish slatted boxes are their feeding boxes. The slats are made so the ducks canít steal the flamingosí food.:rolleyes2

After our pool time and wandering around, it was email checking time on our balcony!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012126.jpg

It was getting close to our 5:30 ressie at Fultonís Crab House. We got ourselves ready and headed out the door of our room.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012091_zpsbe69a6cc.jpg

While on our way to the bus stop this sign attracted Bobís attention. Thinking it was funny he wanted to get a photo of me and the sign. Ha Ha! At least after 46 years he thinks I still have it, whatever it is!:cool1:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012096.jpg

The bus soon showed up and we were on our way to Downtown Disney. The ride wasnít too long, around 20 minutes or so. Our first glimpse of Fultonís in the distance of DTD.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012097.jpg

A few people are out and about in the area.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept096.jpg

The front of Fultonís looks so nice with the blue sky above.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept096.jpg

It had gotten quite windy since our arrival, but I was excited we were trying this restaurant for the first time.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept096.jpg

The interior was not very impressive to say the least. Were seated in the front of the restaurant where we could sit by a window overlooking the lake.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept090.jpg

My drink was something tropical, I canít remember nor could I find it on line. It was ok nothing special. Bob had a Yuengling, his favorite.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept089.jpg

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept090.jpg

The old man looking at the water, I shouldnít call him a Disney resistor any longer. He loved this trip.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept088.jpg

He took my picture and believe it or not I hadnít noticed the crap behind me until I saw this photo. I was upset that we had been seated by the clean up station and most of Fultonís was EMPTY!:faint:

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012100.jpg

Bob ordered the Filet of Beef Oscar, which was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus and crab. I ordered Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and squash. I absolutely hate squash and when I asked about the veggies was told it might have some squash. Turned out to be nothing but squash! Bob ate it, he eats anything! I didnít think until too late to take photos. We didnít want any dessert, but they wouldnít take no for an answer. CM boxed it up to go, it was cheesecake and we never did eat all of it!

Our opinion of Fultonís Crab House was not very high. No way is this place worth two credits. Last year we went to Narcosseeís for our anniversary dinner. There we got personalized menus, a special cupcake in addition to regular dessert & a wonderful atmosphere. We felt so special at Narcosseeís, but at Fultonís it was so ordinary. The food was ok, not bad, just nothing special. As long as Fultonís is two credits we wonít be back.:(

We strolled DTD looking at the shops and enjoying the music. This guy was a great sax player.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept094.jpg

We stood and listened to him for quite awhile. Finally we bid goodbye to DTD, caught a bus back to AKL. When back to AKL we strolled around again to watch the animals and to people watch.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/WDWSept2012094.jpg

Finally made it up to the room watched some tv then crashed for the night.

I know, weíre not very exciting, never saw any fireworks at all this trip. I wanted to see wishes, but I think this night was the first Halloween party. Anyway the rest was what we needed this year!

Next up Hollywood!!!

I like the view from your room! I think the flamingo's are really interesting to watch, despite the fact that they are so messy.

I did not know that Fulton's was 2 TS credits. I never read really good reviews on it when it was one. That's ridiculous. For a signature meal you should have tried Jiko. But sometimes its nice to go to dinner in a different location than were you are staying.

Sorry you weren't wowed, but it looks like you had a nice view!

Finally made it and ccaught up over here!

Doris - I love your haircut! Very chic!

The low crowds are awesome. I also love your idea of starting the day in the hot tub. DH and I usually end it when we're on vacay (11 days and counting for us). Our resort (off-site) has many, maybe if we're close to one!

Glad you're all feeling better. Keep calling Lowe's and keep notes. My mother had them do some flooring for them last summer, and had several minor issues (not as bad as yours) that it took them forever to fix. Eventually they will make it right, but you've got to keep after them. Also make them go over and beyond for all the trouble they've caused you!

The low crowds are what is keeping us going back in early September. Our next one is the same days this September. Nothing better than a hot tub in the morning.

Love the animal pictures and how nice that you got a flamingo pink feather. :goodvibes

I'm sorry Fulton's didn't wow you. First thing I have to say is that they just recently started accepting the dining plan. The last time Mark and I went was probably in 2009 or 2010 and they still weren't accepting it then.

Mark loves Yuengling...so Bob made a good choice there.

Our food was mediocre at best on our last visit. I had ordered the crab claws which I'd gotten the year before and were delicious. But for the price, the last time they cut the order in half and they just weren't that good. And at $60 plus, I was not a happy person.

I'm really surprised they have not "spruced" up the place a little over the years.

Here near Gainesville the forecast for the weekend & into Monday is calling for a chance of snow flurries! Ack! We were going to go to Cedar Key yesterday, but it was raining & blowing, turned out there was a 91 mph wind gust which destroyed a lot of things in Cedar Key.

Snow in Gainesville! Wonder how long it has been since that happened. I lived in Jacksonville for a few years as a kid and we had snowflakes a couple of times - of course it melted when it hit the ground, but the native Floridian kids were

We have been undecided about this year's vacation. It was between a driving trip to the Southwest or a Club level stay at AKL. Well we, mostly I, decided & I pulled the trigger on airfare to WDW!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Now I hear that FD is coming for the time we are going. I got a 35% discount on the room, so as tempting as free dining is, I wil give it a pass.

HOORAY for HOLLYWOOD!

Thursday dawned bright & early for us as usual, so we put our suits on, headed down to Mara to fill our mugs. After filling our mugs it was off to the hot tub!:thumbsup2

The wild ducks were in the pool every morning as we went by. They looked so happy there, but I didnít like the fact they crapped in the pool!:(

It was fairly dark when we got out to the pool area that early in the morning.

After the sun came out & we had thoroughly warmed our bones it was time to walk over to Mara to grab a breakfast we could share.

Only this time I used a snack credit for a croissant. I could eat my weight in those Disney croissants! I donít remember what Bobís breakfast was, but he did have that grits like stuff. That was pretty good, but I think one would have to like grits to eat, I think bobootie,.

We rode this a couple of times in a row, love being in the drop zone.

We strolled past RR, but since we both get ride sickness on coasters that go upside down, no ride for us! But for those who do the wait was 10 minutes.:rolleyes1

We hurried over to Star Tours, but had to stop for a sweet treat!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept105.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/wicketsmom/media/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept105.jpg.html)

Another short wait of 5 minutes, I know itís getting boring! Well maybe not so much for me! Gotta love those early September trips!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept104.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/wicketsmom/media/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept104.jpg.html)

I donít know why those signs wonít register on the camera, but Iím not lying!;)

It was now time to split lunch again, where to eat? We discussed several options, and chose Starring Rolls.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept103.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/wicketsmom/media/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept103.jpg.html)

We chose a ham sandwich, which was tasty. It was quite large, a very easy sandwich to share.

Our dessert was a Napoleon, oh it was so good! The pastries at Disney are so wonderful. I could eat nothing but them for my meals!

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z366/wicketsmom/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept102.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/wicketsmom/media/Florida%202012/wdw%202012/2012Sept102.jpg.html)

After our lunch we walked around checking things out. Sorry we didnít take many photos, but we just walk and talk and forget to take pictures!

Sorry for such large pictures! Stupid Photo Bucket! It used to be so easy to resize the photos, but now it's quite a bit harder. Why oh why does everything need to be improved? :furious:

The look fine in size here. Sometimes it take a bit for photobucket to register a size change.

I like your morning. Nice and relaxed. You must've went to an epcot resort to catch the boat? It's a nice ride. I jsut wish they didn't make so many stops.

We didn't rent DVC points, I have never done that, but may on a future trip. The only discount I had was free dining. The package was a little under $2000. For our trip this year we are staying AKL club level with no dining plan. I got 35% discount, which made this less than the last trip.

I don't know why I thought you rented points! That sounds like great deal! My in-laws have been so generous and wonderful, I would love to surprise them with a trip like that some day!

Just checking in to let everyone know I'm still alive and kicking! Granddaughters & DIL are still here, but they are leaving Monday. We leave on Tuesday for a three day trip. Hopefully I will post more when we arrive back home.

I do have them on Photo bucket & realized I also have the app on the iPad. I was having a brain glitch, but the connection was taking too long. Will try again, need to get this show back on the road. Our new trip is September 9, a little more than 30 days to go. This is an especially busy time right now. I have two gowns in construction, one for me & one I'm being paid to make. I don't think Bob's new trousers will get made. All of this needs to be done by August 30!

Yes, it's back to AKL, but we are doing Club Level. It's our first time in CL & I'm really looking forward to it. Got a pin for 35%, decided not to do free dining. I think this will be our last trip to Disney for a year or two. We want to go some other places. We are still trying to decide where to go for our 50th anniversary which is in three years. I'm thinking Hawaii, but Bob suggested GF!

I found this out via another topic on the Dis. One is to walk up to a window , tell your name, then they give you a rose & I believe they lead you to a table. I hadn't thought too much about eating at BOG until I found out about this offer.

Disney is in the testing stage for a new system of getting FPs. When you book your Disney trip, you pick up to three FPs a day & the info is entered Into a wristband that will take the place of the KTtW card. There are several threads on the Dis about this subject.

To be testing the MBs one has to be staying at certain resorts. We will be at AKL, some others are POP, CR & I'm not sure of the others.
