Hi! This is my second Trip Report. Be forewarned, my first one took 14 months to complete, due to life getting in the way...in spite of that, I DID finish (FINALLY) and it was definitely the trip of a lifetime. Will this trip be a disappointment after our last trip? It has the potential to be a HUGE letdown, our last trip was a Make a Wish Trip and our Daughter’s wish To Be Famous at Disney came true in an extraordinary way!

It doesn't matter if you have followed along on our past reports or if you are new to our story...ALL are welcome and encouraged to say hi. I love my DIS friends and there is ALWAYS room for one more! As I mentioned in my first post, the last trip was a Make a Wish Trip and it was simply the most wonderful time of our lives. This is where I would normally tell you who we are; however, since the past two years of our lives are highlighted here on the DIS I will give you links to the last PTRs and TR here:
THE WHO, the WISH, the WAIT...FINALLY our MAW DATES!! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2572447)
Lisa IS FAMOUS! MAW Dream COME TRUE! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2822857)
You ASKED for it, You GOT it!! GKTW ALUMNI RETURN! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=44953432#post44953432)
You can thank me later for this service, especially if you have insomnia. This will give you enough reading material to put you right to sleep. :rotfl: You will learn far more about us than you ever wanted to know...and yet what I don't write about would fill volumes.
Us in a nutshell:
Pete: Patriarch of the family. Former Marine. Plays guitar. Part time chauffeur, he helps me get the children to all of their activities. Disney lover. Loves to take trips and plays as hard as the children. Big Kid at heart. We have been together since 1988 (Yes, I was 5. Do the math, I turn 30 this year).
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/file_zps7b55f693.jpg
Me. Judy: Matriarch to this clan. RN by career, Homeschooling Mom by choice. Planner of the trips, logistics supervisor....I keep everybody straight, pull no punches and am honest to a fault. Several on these boards have called me other things, but don't believe them. I am awesome, just ask me. :lmao: Had only seen one Disney Movie (101 Dalmatians) until I met DH. (My younger years weren't the best).
Christian: Oldest Son. 22. Graduated College May, 2012 and still looking for that job. Computer whiz and wonderful artist. Has a gift for writing and just completed his first novel. He has been heaven sent these past few months, helping me get the children where they need to be (my Dad has been quite ill and this allowed me to help my parents). LOVES his siblings...and Disney. He is a tremendous help to me. A Gentle Giant with a HUGE heart.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/file_zps8bf6a09f.jpg
David: Youngest Son. 18. He graduates High School May, 2013. He has many interests. Woodworking, Firefighting (he works as an Explorer for the CFD), Is in both the Aviation and Engineering Explorers posts. Volunteers at the Aviation Museum. Loves Disney, although he is into more of the thrills/action. For him, the world is black or white...and he is very kind.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/file_zps556a0135.jpg
Rachel: Oldest Daughter. 14. Is certified through Therapy Dog International to take our dog Bandit to schools, nursing homes and the Ronald McDonald House. Plays guitar (that is an understatement she has both passion AND talent). Currently has 2 different music scholarships. Enjoys Theater and 4H, as well as plays in a Jazz Ensemble. Sees injustice and tries to change it. Incredible sense of humor and my biggest fan.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/file_zps53ae39c9.jpg
Lisa: Youngest Daughter. 9 (soon to be 10). Bravest person I know. Has had 3 Open heart surgeries and 2 strokes...and doesn't let that stop/define her. She loves 4H, ballet, acting, musicals, takes both theater and voice on scholarship (doesn't sing like a 9 year old). Loves to perform and wants to be famous. VERY tenderhearted, cuddly, loving. Fearless!
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/Lisa%20Voice%20Extravaganza/file_zps1ce6b025.jpg
Bandit: Our Chihuahua. 4. Certified Therapy Dog. Rachel trained him for 17 months, from the time he was a small puppy. They passed FIVE tests to become TDI certified in July, 2010. He nearly died last year and as soon as he could move, he went to get his collar, he wanted to go to work....he loves it. Makes all of your pain go away. Sadly, he wasn't able to make the trip with us...but he had fun anyway.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/Bandit%20playing%20with%20Lisa/e1a57049.jpg
So, that is us with as much brevity as you will ever see from me. We are a fun-loving, happy lot, who love the Lord and all of His blessings. I hope you will join us for the journey. As long as we have readers, well then, I will happily write. I promise to stray off track...but the story will eventually be told. If I am nothing else, I am tenacious... You might even learn something along the way, I already know I will.
This Trip WAS filled with lots of unexpected twists and turns...

I have heard that, I just don't think anyone would read it. :confused3 My Mom says I should write a series, like Little house on the Prairie. If only!

No, not you. That's me. I've been monologuing on my Christmas TR and the SWW PTR since sweet Lisa went to Haiti and dear Michele hasn't been able to get on the computer. People are reading, the numbers are going up, but lately I'm the only one talking.
(Speaking of dear Michele, she and others in her household are sick. She's hoping to get her mom to the doc today, but she probably needs an appointment herself.)
I went back and read your intro on the laptop, so much nicer than on my phone, and I have to say what an incredible introduction! Great choice of pictures and descriptions. By the way, you look amazing in those pictures.
I'm looking forward to the twists and turns of this new TR. I know I have an inside edge and even so, you and your precious girls were tight lipped and kept some major excitement top secret.

YEA!! More BBB pics would be awesome!
:cool1: Good morning! I didn't realize how lengthy your ptr got to be.
It had a life of its own at times. Think how long it would have been if I hadn't been such a slack hostess...
So tell me about Christian's novel -- what type of genre??? Alexa is writing a story right now too. Not quite a novel, but maybe someday she'll get there.
Christian's novel is a comedic Sci-Fi story. He is working on the cover art right now. Rachel has just written a children's book; however, the art work for that one is a bear...GREAT story though. I have no idea where they got there desire to write. :rotfl2: Lisa is writing a story as I type. We are leaving shortly for the appts, she will take it with us...What is Alexa's story about? Don't you love it when they just spontaneously start writing?!
I am here - can't wait to hear all about this trip. :)

Glad your here D. I can't wait to tell it.

You have so many TR's and PTR's Tink it can be hard to keep up...I am woefully behind...but I think you and Lisa have heard from me last/the most....The insurance has taken the majority of my time since the New Year...I am on hold right now...
(Speaking of dear Michele, she and others in her household are sick. She's hoping to get her mom to the doc today, but she probably needs an appointment herself.)
PLEASE tell her I am praying!

Aw, Thank you. It is amazing what a little rest, relaxation and make up can do for a girl (Of 29...:rotfl:)! I was trying to be brief on the descriptions, don't want to be TOO wordy and scare people off!

The insurance is a nightmare at times, makes you want to scream. I have actually thought how cool it would be to be in Canada, I don't know how they would do with Lisa's heart though or if there would be a wait for care? I really don't know how it works. My very first serious boyfriend was from Switzerland...
I keep saying if I was rich in money instead of beautiful I would have a lot of problems taken care of. :rotfl2:

No, I don't have it anymore. I had it in a dresser drawer at home. One year I came home to a remodled bedroom and all my treasures were gone. I got paid a whopping $10 for it. I think I spent it all on Bubble Yum and ice cream cones. We lived near a shopping center and gum packs were 25 cents and so was an ice cream cone. I got lots of trips to the shopping center that summer. The article was a book review of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
Breaks my heart that yours were destroyed in the fire.
I will keep an eye out for your response. The heat was the biggest obstacle for JJ at SWW. At least at Star Wars Celebration everything was in the air conditioning.
He seems to have trouble with the cold too. I wonder if temp regulation in general is a problem for him? It was 60 degrees when we saw Santa at Epcot and he was dressed in a winter coat, gloves, hat, etc. and still cold. We go to the neuro next week. I'll be mentioning something.
I hope you get all the insurance issues resolved. We made it through most of the year with no problems then all at once over Christmas we got bills left and right from Sept to Dec. It was crazy. I think we got it all resolved now.

I LOVED the Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe! It really spoke to me. Do you remember zotz? Your post made me think of them. How about Powerhouse candy bars? My FAVORITE all time candy bar! Sorry your treasures were so casually discarded!
Breaks my heart that yours were destroyed in the fire.
It is okay Michelle, really. I got my treasures out.
I will keep an eye out for your response. The heat was the biggest obstacle for JJ at SWW. At least at Star Wars Celebration everything was in the air conditioning.
The heat at Disney is a hard thing for us and I did post a few things that help us on your thread. There isn't a great solution. I also forgot to mention an umbrella to deflect the direct heat. We have also been known to form a human sun block for Lisa...I will continue to think of things and will share.
It is definitely a possibility. That is a HUGE problem for David. When it is hot he is cold, when it it cold, he is hot...Not sure what causes hat for Lisa because of her coumadin and her meds. We DO know she has the Autonomic Issues. I have no idea what causes what..but it is a lot of problems that is certain.
I hope you get all the insurance issues resolved. We made it through most of the year with no problems then all at once over Christmas we got bills left and right from Sept to Dec. It was crazy. I think we got it all resolved now.
Boy I relate...we are trying to deal with bills from Lisa's visits in September 2011! There SHOULD be a statute of limitations. Ours can't be resolved, a $2,500 deductible per person is just that, nothing I can do there. Just trying to get the things that should be copayed and the DME taken care of. And Lisa needs a new leg brace and show lift for the right leg/foot and new orthotic for her left. I AM happy yours is resolving, it is just not right.
 I'm here
YEA!!!! I am so HAPPY!
:goodvibes Thanks
You KNOW it is true!
:rotfl2: Sorry I was on your mind ..... I was looking through my files the other day and saw the Mickey w/balloons so I must have used my telepathy powers :rolleyes1
I think it was because it was ALL DAY LONG! And I really want my Mickey Balloons, I need to get a shirt! Somebody OFFERS to make me a custom and I am so slow getting it to you...but I really DO have good excuses! :duck::duck:
I'm subscribing. I'm new to this TR but not your story, as I have followed along since...well since I can remember being on the Dis at this point! I just finished up reading your MAW TR (it's still open and able to be replied to btw!) and saw that you have this new one started up :) So I am along for the ride.
Your here!!! So glad to see you back! :yay: Happy New Year! I need to get to the TR and finish up some thoughts/responses...I think I need a week on a deserted Island, with a cute cabana boy bringing me drinks with pineapple and umbrellas and a computer, I could get all caught up and have some fun too...:beach::beach:
Love the pic of you & Pete by the way, I know you have said in the past that you don't usually like pictures of yourself, but you have nothing to hide. You are a beautiful couple!
That is truly very sweet of you! :goodvibes That just caught me in a good light with a lot of makeup.
Oh, I know Billy will love having his set made from some wood from one of your cedar trees. I'm not going to tell him anything about what David is doing. I'll let David tell Billy how he made his pen and pencil set. I'll love to see David's newest pen too!
David is so honored to make the set for Billy and he wants it to be special. I know he will enjoy telling Billy all about it. David actually made TWO pens Monday night. They are both pretty but I really fell in love with the color on one of them...I HOPE to get pics made tomorrow. They have swarovski crystals on them so they will cost more. Lisa fell in love with the second pen he made. She told David I would give you all of my money ($27) if I could have that pen. David put his arm around her and said "Little Squealfang (he makes up endearing, funny names for us) I am going to make you a pen of your choice, I could never charge you"...I see a perfect birthday present in her future. :goodvibes

So what are Christian's plans with his book? Does he plan on sending it out to oodles of publishers looking for a bite? I am not at all into Sci-Fi. DH loves fantasy fiction, but not sure he'd be interested in something with a comedic element.
Alexa's book is about a wolf and other assorted animals. I'm worried she's basing it too much on a story she is reading now but she denies that. Her teacher said she wants the story when Alexa is done writing it and will type it up. I told Alexa I would see if we could find any contests to enter.
As a little update, so far so good on the lice situation. Apparently the three at school who had it no longer do -- found out a different girl was the originator and her mother kept sending her to school and told no one she was being treated for lice. And then the poor sisters who got it have divorced parents and are being raised by the father so what a pain for him -- it has to be hard to be a working single father -- I don't know him but I surely hope he has some family around to help him. Anyway, we are good and Alexa has a new set of bandanas to wear every day as scarves to help keep her hair covered, but yesterday she took hers off before school ended :crazy2:
I have some good news I will share with you and I hope it rubs off of me and onto you to help with your insurance woes. #1 is our tax break cut will be partially offset by a 1.7% military pay raise :) We still haven't gotten dh's first check for January to see how much we lose. BAH is supposed to go up a little too, so I'm hoping we are close to even. We really can't afford to lose $$ right now.
#2 good news is that I went to our bank yesterday to do some banking with the kids' Christmas $$ and checks that were written in their names (turns out I didn't need to bring them and could have signed the checks myself since they are minors) and inquired about refinancing our home for sale b/c our current lender, Bank of America, who is not one bit helpful will not let us refinance since the house is for sale. NFCU says the same on their website. But they told me I could refinance as long as we didn't close on the house until the refinance was complete -- in other words, they just want the $$ it will cost us to refinance without us backing out and since we currently do not have an offer on our house that shouldn't be a problem. Once all our ducks are in a row I doubt it will take more than a month to refinance. It's a gamble b/c if we get an offer in the spring it will be some $$ lost for us, but if the house sits another year it should be well worth it. So now I get to spend today gathering paperwork -- not fun, but want to head to the bank on Monday to get the ball rolling. I work tomorrow so at least I have the weekend to have dh get me his info.
So with all that I may be able to postpone a second *real* job for a while :)
Eeks! It's past 7am and I haven't gotten Alexa up yet -- must run!

I was briefly distracted just now by the news talking about the flu outbreak sweeping the country. PLEASE, if you are sick...STAY HOME! Save a life!
Tonight is the talent showcase for our Teen Homeschool group. David is bringing some of his woodworking items and pens (we have pics of the bigger items) and Rachel is playing guitar.
We also had a call yesterday asking if Rachel would play at the Arts and Science Council and United Way Kickoff party next month. Rachel said she would be delighted, but I had to laugh. The program director asked if she would be nervous, this was a huge event. She wanted to know if Rachel would wear her trademark shoes, hat and vest. I said unless you don't want her too. She said, no we do, what color hat is she wearing...Me: um, does it matter? The third time she told me "this was a big deal and there would be hundreds of people there and wanted to know if Rachel would be too nervous?" I laughed and reminded her Rachel played at the HOB...that seemed to be "nuff said". Rachel is happy, she wants to perform daily, and doesn't have nearly enough "gigs' booked as she would like.
Got to run, time for school! Have a wonderful day.

Actually he hopes to get it up as an ebook on Amazon. Maybe comedic wasn't the right word there is humor though and it is quite clever. I must confess, sci fi isn't my genre either.

That is a great idea for Alexa! Once when Rachel was in kindergarten grade she wrote a story that was very similar to one she read. I didn't care as long as she was writing; however, we didn't enter it in any contests.
As a little update, so far so good on the lice situation. Yea for no lice for Alexa. I hope that continues! I think being a single partn is hard on anyone, much less a helpless man. :lmao: I would not like to see Pete doing things all by himself..and neither would the children.
I have some good news I will share with you and I hope it rubs off of me and onto you to help with your insurance woes. #1 is our tax break cut will be partially offset by a 1.7% military pay raise :) We still haven't gotten dh's first check for January to see how much we lose. That is AWESOME NEWS!!!! I am thrilled to hear that finally the military is getting SOMETHING to help a bit! I hope the BAH puts yo a bit OVER for a change, I know yo still have a lot to contend with!

Well, I am certain if you refinance you will sell...so either way this would be great news! I hope the paperwork comes together easily and this helps you out as much as you need, you need/deserve a break!
So with all that I may be able to postpone a second *real* job for a while :)
You need to sell on etsy! Or Facebook?(No fees, other than paypal)? Just DO IT!!!

Sounds like Rachel and David will have a great time tonight showcasing one of their many talents. How exciting for Rachel to have another large place to perform.
I saw the TV show Ellen two days ago and they were helping a little boy with a heart problem go to Disneyland and meet Ellen. That same day, they had a note onscreen saying if you know an inspiring person to go to their facebook page and nominate them. I nominated you Tuesday, Wednesday and again today. I think if a lot of us would do this everyday, they would pick you. They wanted talented children, people who need help with their homes, military families, person in need, those who need a car. I thought they could do an entire show about your family. I hope some other people will do this to and keep doing it until they pick you.

I hope so! I would rather be curling up in bed and staying away fomr all of the germs running around! Christian is keeping Lisa at home for that very reason, although she is going to ballet. We are wearing masks at all of the MD offices, I really can't let them be exposed.
That's fantastic that Rachel was asked to play another venue. She is soaring to stardom.
Thanks Tink, that is what she hopes for...she just loves to perform so does Lisa. Since siblings can't tonight, there was no need to expose Lisa.

Judy, I finally caught up with all the posts since before Christmas! Glad to hear you had a nice holiday. We were able to go visit my parents and sister the week after Christmas, so that's why I've been out of the loop awhile. It was a very nice time, as I hadn't seen my sister's family for over a year. Now we are back to school and trying to get back in the swing of things. Good news is that Ezra was able to get a spot for Kindergarten at the same school with the other kids. It started when a full-day slot opened up. I don't have $400 a month to pay for the full day option (half day is free), but we took it anyway and I figured I'd just have to get a part-time position to pay for the tuition. Then, an afternoon slot opened up when one of the other kids wanted to switch to full-day, so we took that. When I went in on Tuesday to drop off his paperwork, the registrar said she now had a morning position if I wanted it. That was my original preference, but I've since taken on a job working one day a week for the local MOPS group doing childcare, and the hours conflict with pickup for AM kindy, so we are probably going to just stick with PM. So over the course of 3 weeks, he went from having no spot to having his choice of 3!
So good to see the pics of Lisa and Meghan! Looks like it was such a neat trip for them both. I hope it was a healing, encouraging time, although I am sure it was exhausting.
Prayers for everyone. Hope you all have a productive day.

I was briefly distracted just now by the news talking about the flu outbreak sweeping the country. PLEASE, if you are sick...STAY HOME! Save a life!
I agree please keep yourself or your kids home if they are sick. Jeremy had 3 kids out sick today and another 2 were sent home through out the day because they weren't holding anything down. Kind of frustrates me because I've already kept Sarah home twice this school year do to her not being fever free for 24 hours and Jeremy has been lucky to not have missed a day of school yet. He should have missed the first couple days of school but unfortunatly our district basically said "If your child misses any of the 1st three days of school they will be dropped and you will have to renroll them and they may not be placed in the same class or school". So he went even though I didn't want to send him. Even his Dr. was shocked when he read the note I showed him. He said that's just not right some kids need to be kept home and a Dr's note should be an exception.

We were REALLY bummed to arrive at the talent show tonight to discover the facility had some construction problems....it was VERY disappointing. David had printed out some photo's of his work that were too big to carry and brought one of his stools and several pens (he wasn't going to sell them, just show them off). Rachel had practiced all afternoon and looked beautiful. We did meet a new family who live quite close to us, so maybe that will be more friends to enjoy. At least we were able to make them feel welcome! :thumbsup2

Amy, I have missed you so! I strongly suspect Elisabeth didn't receive some mail LIsa sent her at Christmas. It seems a lot of my Christmas Cards, along with a pen David made Lisa B didn't make it to it's destination. I myself received 3 different neighbors mails on three different days...one was a card for my down the street neighbor, with a $100 bill in it. She was so thankful I returned it to her.
How exciting your DS has a spot for next year! I realize it wasn't your first choice; however, what a blessing and fun you will be doing the MOPS! They are fortunate to have you! :thumbsup2
So good to see the pics of Lisa and Meghan! Looks like it was such a neat trip for them both. I hope it was a healing, encouraging time, although I am sure it was exhausting.

I pray they all stay healthy and that NO ONE brings anything home, NONE of you need it! I thought maybe the talent show tonight was postponed due to Godly intervention and germs! The school districts have the strangest ways of funding the schools here a well, it is all based on attendance for the first ten days of school...like it isn't going to fluctuate the next 170 days! And MD notes should trump EVERYTHING!
Great news for Rachel!!! That's awesome!!!!

As I mentioned earlier, we had the MOST wonderful Make a Wish trip for my daughter in October, 2011. It was our first vacation in years and had to be postponed three times. We KNEW it would be a long time before we would have another trip...little did we know...
My husbands brother was given my in-laws RCI weeks/rights quite a few years ago. He can take vacations yearly as he chooses (for those who dont know, it is similar to a DVC, only NOT Disney). He had come to Christian's graduation, and David took the opportunity to tell him he wanted to go on another vacation and he wished we could stay at one of the condos through RCI. As it turned out, he had some time that was expiring at the end of September, 2012 and all it would cost us was the RCI fee and the transfer gift fee...Although the Money was an issue, we jumped on the opportunity. The location was FABULOUS if you cant stay on site and the resort was great (we had stayed there a long time ago). The week he gave us was September 22- 29. We liked this week because the crowd level predictions were low and it was my Birthday Week.
We decided that we would leave late afternoon September 21. Pete works nearly an hour away and that would give us a jump on the trip. We loaded the van the night before and picked Pete up early. It was supposed to be 4 PM; however, due to some issues, we were finally on the road by 4:25. I had made sandwiches and we stopped at a Rest Area in Georgia for dinner. The plan was to drive until we got tired... when we got to Jacksonville, we decided Ormond Beach would be our destination, having stayed their before. We were getting very tired as we drew close, yet didnt want to stay along the Palm Coast Area, it is quite pricey.
I had called ahead, so we knew the address and where we were going...we pulled off the exit and we all had a strange feeling. The GPS took us to a Gentlemans Club, where the action was spilling out into the parking lot. There was NOT a hotel, although there was one diagonal to it and tucked WAY back in the wooded area. We drove around and there was what looked like a motorcycle parking lot in the drop off area, there were so many bikes. The name of the hotel wasnt the same as we were looking for, so we left and tried once more to follow the GPS...no luck. We stopped to ask for directions at a convenience store and they tried to point us in the right direction, with some difficulty...they said the hotel had closed years ago. We drove BACK to the hotel behind the Strip Club and pulled where we could see the front desk. It was late, but that parking lot had a lot of action going on. I called in to the hotel we were supposed to stay at and the front desk person at this hotel definitely didnt answer the phone. We thought perhaps the name of the hotel had changed. The person I was speaking to on the phone was trying to talk us in to the hotel and I tell you, we drove around for about ten minutes trying to see what he was talking about...it simply wasnt there! He kept saying, just park and get out..um, are you kidding?? I told Pete the place gave me the heebie jeebies, I wanted to leave, so we did. I wanted to LEAVE Ormond Beach, but no, Pete wanted to see if the hotel was on the opposite side of the exit ramp and if the person was confused. (we were tired). I said yes Gypsy (my GPS), the people at the store, the weird guy on the phone...yes, everybody is confused. We pulled in to a shopping center/hotel/restaurant area and it looked like a Ghost Town here, where on the OTHER side of the Ramp it was a beehive of activity at midnight...It was quite whimsical and Pete wanted to go in and find out the cost...he was going to be walking quite a bit to get inside, it is hard to describe without using my hands. :rotfl: We kept seeing cats...everywhere :confused3...I told him if he didnt come back in 10 minutes or call me I was leaving to find the police. He disappeared under a walkway/underpass that looked sort of like going into a hacienda...seriously...and cats were following him and were walking/crawling everywhere...it was CREEPY! :scared1: I was getting more antsy/nervous/agitated by the minute! FINALLY he emerged, he had gone inside and couldnt find a soul...not a soul...I said get me out of this freaky town...NOW PLEASE! We got back out onto the highway and decided to head on in to Orlando even though it was late and we were exhausted...we werent sleepy, thanks to that strange place!
But where should we stay? It was a no brainer, the resort we were booked into for the week was right next door to The Palms, where we stayed when we extended our Make a Wish trip. I called, they had a room for 6 with an incredible rate so we made the journey. It was LATE and we were tired wen we arrived; however, we got inside and settled and we were thankful! We were back in Kissimmee and it felt GREAT! :woohoo: Little did we know just how wonderful this trip would turn out to be! :goodvibes

Sorry to read that David and Rachel didn't have their talent show last night. At least you were all able to stay away from any germs going around.
What an adventure trying to find the hotel. I'm glad that Gypsy (GPS) couldn't find it. Even though it took a bit longer to drive, making it to Kissimmee was a wise choice. I know I wouldn't be comfortable staying around the other area.

Last time we went to Disney, we stayed at a hotel right on Ormond Beach and it was nice, we got there in the morning and had to wait for our room but besides that it was nice, no cats or bikers or strip clubs that I saw. I'm sorry your experience was so different and creepy! We did notice a crazy homeless woman wandering the beach from time to time talking to herself, but that was all. I even drove around a little while my husband slept to find a grocery store, car wash and a place to have dinner and I don't like to drive by myself in places I'm not familiar with.:confused3

That is a really creepy start to your trip! I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere near their either.
It really gave ME pause (DH wanted to try a little longer, obviously). I wanted to :car: as soon as the guy kept telling me on the phone it was right there and all I saw was the woods...

We had stayed in Ormond Beach before ourselves and had a GREAT Suite (Comfort Inn Suites...which is what the hotel we were going to was supposed to be). It simply wasn't there...and the people at the store said it had been gone for a while...even though a man on the phone kept saying they were and the place Gypsy drove us was behind the Gentleman's Club...The main reason DH kept looking was because we HAD in the past stayed in Ormond Beach and it was a great place. IN fact BL (Before LIsa) when we stayed there we talked about the next time wanting a room on the Ocean. I am happy you had a wonderful stay there, MAYBE we will give it another go int the future. (BUT it will be daylight when I arrive if we do :lmao: AND not on the exit ramp). For whatever reason we weren't supposed to be there that night. I am happy you shared the positive thoughts on Ormond Beach though. I wouldn't want anyone to NOT stay there because of our creepy stop! :3dglasses TWILIGHT ZONE...I am telling you...:3dglasses
happy we got to talk, sorry to keep you up so late...I did sleep well until 3 when megan woke up for about an hour...she is staying home and still sleeping, at least she's not running a fever!
It is a very good thing we talked last night, the MD office was running VERY slow and we didn't get home until 11 and now we have to leave shortly. I would NOT have had as much time to talk. I think it was best for Megan to stay home, it is a tough time and she doesn't feel well Give her a hug from her Auntie!

I am sorry to hear that Pete's car needs work. :-(
Yikes! What's wrong with it? Can he get another estimate?
There is a laundry list including 3 new tires and the oil change. It has over 200,000 miles on it... and Pete has a long commute. See more below. Pete has the list and there are some things they told him we could hold off for for now. Our mechanics have hearts of gold ...seriously.

Oh Debbie, that makes me want to know more...but I understand sometimes stuff like that is hard to describe in print...the telling and the feeling of it doesn't always translate. You have me curious though...anybody else have any experience at Ormond Beach...good, bad, spooky or creepy???
It's great you can laugh about it now! But at the time I'm sure it was pretty freaky!!!
It WAS! We have been chucklinog about it all day, but every once in a while one of us says....:3dglasses TWILIGHT ZONE :3dglasses
Oh no about Pete's car!! Hopefully you can get a 2nd opinion.
I am bummed about the van too, but it IS 13 years old and has lots of miles on it (Pete drives it a lot each day). I will tell you we use a dealership, where a friend of mine's husband is pretty high up. I will not go in to all of the things they have done for us (I have mentioned them before) however, we always get the employee discount (The $1,800 is WITH all of the discounts). When Pete was laid off and needed work done, he went to pay the $117 bill and the mechanic had paid for it from his own pocket. When Lisa had to go to Philly time before last they gave us a vehicle to use for almost three weeks...no charge. They pray with us, care so much for our family and really go out of there way to do all that they can. Pete's car is a Nissan and they are a Toyota dealership, so they can't always do as much as they want (if it was a Toyota, they could help more on parts)..but they do what they can and I know make little if any money from us. My life was totally blessed the day they came in to our lives and I trust them completely, which is HUGE when you are dealing with autos...it hasn't always been that way. They even gave Pete a car to use until his is fixed, freeing up my van to get everyone to the appts the past two days. As bad as it is and as bad as it hurts...I know we have no choice. Thanks everyone for caring though! We ARE blessed.

I'm new to your TR, but I've followed you on the DISboutique thread and seen you elsewhere. I know it might be too late, but if you haven't gotten your tires yet, my DH works for Goodyear and gets a certain number of coupons for discounts on tires every year. We would be glad to give you four of them if you can use them. They have to be Goodyear tires, of course, but you pay for the tires and then just send the coupons in along with a copy of your receipt to get your money back. You can PM me if you are interested.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. How very sad for you. I will be praying for her family and for your loss.
I ran into a few people (while waiting in lines) while at Disney last month who, when they found out I was a DISer, basically said why would you be on that forum, everyone is so mean! Well, I told them they were just hanging out on the wrong threads. This TR and many others show what wonderful people hang out on the DIS. I've never seen so many supportive, loving, generous people as on the DISboutique and here and other TRs and PTRs. It's a real community of folks who have real problems, but find the humor and the joy in life dispite everything they face. You are all such a beautiful example of God's love being shared here on earth. I'm so grateful for finding all of you and getting to "know" you. Blessings to you, Judy, and you're adorable (and talented!) family.

So sorry to hear about your friend. There is a thread on the commnunity board about a Diser who recently passed away. I thought that you might like to know in case it is about your friend.
I saw a thread about a lady named JungleCruiser Sarah. Is that the thread?
Judy, is that your friend?

 Just read you post... I would never have let Pete get out of the van and I could just hear all my kids screaming "How Freaky" and "I'm scared" in the background. :rotfl2:
And what was up with all the cats :confused3
Please pray for my friend's family. I learned that less than 4 days after we spoke last she died and I am heartbroken. I think knew this already in my heart, I just couldn't believe it. I emailed her two days later and no word. This was SO UNLIKE HER! She would NEVER have not contacted me. I am incredibly sad. The world has lost a wonderful lady. No one knew to call me and that saddens me. She was so sick for so long and fought so hard. I am blessed to have met her IRL and to have known her. She loved and cared for my entire family and we loved her.
 So sorry about your friend.

Judy, I am so sorry to hear about your DIS friend. Having lost one of mine last month, I know how hard it is.
What a creepy start to your trip. I would have wanted to leave too...glad you decided to "move on."
 on the car expenses. Cars are so expensive to maintain.

I have tried to post several times this weekend and dissolved in tears. I honestly can't begin to put into words the grief I feel over losing my friend. I have prayed over sharing her name here. She was an incredibly private person; however, shared so much of her heart with me. She signed the GB occasionally, preferring to keep our personal stuff "private"." I want to honor her though and would like to say that my friend, Ellen, was one of the few truly selfless people I have ever known/met. She was an advisor, a confidant, cheerleader, supporter and a true friend. She never did anything for the accolades or the recognition. What she did came from a place of love, understanding and compassion. Ellen was far more than a friend...my words are inadequate to explain how I felt about her. We clicked from the first time we spoke and I will miss her forever. She was a truly wise, wonderful lady who blessed so many. She had little family and we became that to each other. She wanted us to move to Florida and live in the same neighborhood, where we could truly be a family, along with a few other special folks. That had been a wonderful dream.
I want to Thank you all for the kind messages of support and care. My heart hurts, my family's heart is broken and the tears will be here for a long time to come.

So very sorry Judy. Praying for her family, and yours.
Thank you Christi.
I'm so sorry for the loss. Continued prayers for you and your family and now hers.
Thank you Sandra, I need them.
Sorry to hear about your friend Judy. to you and the family.
Thank you Gail. Give Billy a hug for me.Judy, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I'm so glad you were able to have her in your life though. I pray for her family and for strength for all whose hearts she touched.
Thank you Andrea. She was an amazingly selfless lady.I'm new to your TR, but I've followed you on the DISboutique thread and seen you elsewhere.
Dear Lois, :welcome::welcome: sorry for my delay, I am happy you are here. If I remember correctly you do some beautiful sewing. :goodvibes You are very generous to ask about the tires, we have purchased the new ones for Pete's car; however, we MIGHT need new ones on my van, if the offer stands. I need to ask Pete.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. How very sad for you. I will be praying for her family and for your loss.
Thank you so much. This really hurts.
I think it is true about the DIS having some not nice threads, and people looking for fights. Thankfully, for the most part, there are truly KIND, INCREDIBLE people on the DIS and I am always thrilled when I meet a new friend, so THANK YOU for bringing some joy to my very heavy heart.I appreciate your very kind words for myself and my family. I have wrapped myself in their love this weekend and we have cried and shared good memories about "Mrs. Ellen." They all loved her very much. Please stick around, I look forward to getting to know you and I love your DIS name! :goodvibes We love pics, stories and getting to know you, so please chime in anytime!

I'm sorry your friend passed away. I'm glad you were finally able to find out for sure even though you knew in your "knower" that she must have died. :grouphug:
Thank you Debbie. Ellen's avatar was the same as yours. :goodvibes I was hoping she was in ICU and simply couldn't get to a phone...but I think I knew, because she would have found a way to get a message to me.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend
Thank you Tracy.
I haven't checked my mail yet because in my own car trouble won't start at the airport. It's kind of my own fault because it wasn't plugged in. I got a ride home but didn't find a ride to the post office.
I am SO sorry about the car! I wish I could plug ours up, I hope it is working now, I really don't know how al of that works.
I tried tracking your package online but it won't work. Grrr. I might have to phone. I hope it didnt get delayed at the border
Mailing to Canada was different! We got guidance from the PO, which I don't trust after they lost so much of my mail over Christmas. :furious: I hope it arrives soon!
"We have a 98% accuracy rate"...I told them in my job if I had a 98% accuracy rate, people would DIE!
I shouldn't complain about going back to work. I did have 3 weeks off ;) One of the peaks of my job, I get lots of time off. Glad to be home but miss family even with all the craziness and drama.
You aren't complaining!
I hope the first day back is a breeze...and I KNOW you love your family, and they adore you! So do I! I wish I could see you...:goodvibes
All the crazy cats you have been posting give me the giggles.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I randomly chose your TR and I really liked it from the start. We have similar beliefs. Then when I saw your friend had passed away I could hardly believe it. It is very sad that several DISers passed away over the same time who were going on their trips. I read that thread and I fully understood how they felt. It is wonderful they have each other to remember Sarah. THANK YOU for letting me know, I had never really checked out the community board. When I first found the DIS many years ago, I read there some and was saddened how some weren't always kind. I saw some wonderful people there last night, Thank you.

Oh, Judy! I am so sorry about the passing of your friend, Ellen. Cancer has taken too many good people away much too, too soon! Please hold on to your memories and may they bring you smiles in place of your tears soon!
No, surgery yet....peer to peer phone call happened on Thursday without an approval or denial. Still waiting on the ins dr to send in his report. I pray it will come today as an approval and our surgeon can work us in this week. He has OR days M W and F. Things do happen for reasons we do not understand and I believe our reason for not having surgery this past week was so we could go to a banquet/fundraiser for the Hunters Helping Kids local chapter. This is an amazing organization that helps kids with illness experience hunting. They taken them and their familys to a lodge and hunt for a weekend. First time we had been exposed to this group and heard some fabulous stories from the kids and parents. At times, there was not a dry eye in the group of 500 people!
Love the start to your TR!!! I must say I was thinking TWILIGHT ZONE the entire time I was reading. Can't wait to hear about your stay. We stayed at the same place the year before (using a friends timeshare) and loved it. Not bad for staying off site and so close!
Hope everyone is staying well. The flu and upper respiratory infection is spreading like crazy. Everyone take care!

Thank you Alyson, I appreciate that more than I can say. Cancer is a horrible disease. I used to have a skewed view when I worked Oncology that everyone was going to get it...the week I attended three funerals of beloved patients is when I knew I had to stop. I was bale to go back part-time to Oncology Nursing; however, I needed a fresh perspective. Ellen truly was an amazing lady. I can say I have been blessed to meet quite a few amazing ladies right here on the DIS.

It was so freaky, even now as we talk and laugh about it we just shake our heads. Pete reminded me of a few details I DIDN'T include..I told him it was freaky enough as it was! We LOVED our condo! I would love to stay on property sometime, I just don't think I would like to be squished into a couple of rooms with 6 people, even if I COULD afford it. Location wise, we were minutes from AoA...couldn't be much closer unless we WERE on property, I don't think .
Hope everyone is staying well. The flu and upper respiratory infection is spreading like crazy. Everyone take care!

I woke up early after a few hours sleep, I was eager to have everything together. David headed on over to the hotel’s breakfast bar, and Christian soon joined him. I woke Pete up and after a quick shower he joined the boys as well. Rachel woke up next and right on cue, Christian had returned with some bagels and muffins for us girls. Lisa slept a bit longer and then she woke up. By that time Pete and David had brought more food back and we had plenty to eat. We girls like a more leisurely AM time and the guys have spoiled us, they always bring us food back if we don’t want to go to the buffet. We eat about a 1/5 of what they do, so it makes sense for us. It was too early for our villa to be ready at Vacation Village yet; however, we thought we would go ahead and get checked in. We were pleasantly surprised to discover they did have our unit ready and with a little sweet taking, put us up on the top floor, so we wouldn’t have to contend with little ones running and big ones stomping on our heads! We headed back to The Palms to pick up the children, checked out and literally drove across the street in to our parking lot. We grabbed a few things and headed upstairs and it was as glorious and spacious as we remembered. Everyone was running room to room, balcony to balcony. Christian was the only one who managed to NOT get in any of my pre-messy condo pics...even when I tried, he would move. We had to of EVERYTHING except only one oven there is a cook-top in the second kitchen (you read that right...TWO kitchens)! These units are “lock-off units”. You enter one large entry hall (Perfect for storing LIsa’s W/C and a lot of other stuff). There are Two one bedroom condos off from this entranceway. We start to the right and this is the children's area. The girls bedroom is the “living space, we leave their bed (sofa) open the entire trip. The boys bedroom is a master suite, with jacuzzi. They share a balcony. The other unit has the living space and the kitchen I cook in/heat food up, where we eat, etc...Our side is identical, except it also has the oven. 4 TV’s, Two washers, Two dryers...we LOVE this place! And our view from our balconies are gorgeous!
The guys began the arduous task of bringing up all of our luggage/medical supplies and I began to pack...Lisa and Rachel chilled out. After they had everything upstairs, Pete took everyone to the pool while I started the first load of laundry and hit the grocery store...this is a hungry group after they swim and I wanted to be prepared!

What beautiful accommodations for your family! I am still so happy for you that you were able to take that trip. I could hear the Twilight Zone music playing in my head when I read about that first stop, though!
I am so, so sorry to hear about your dear friend. Hugs and prayers for you today.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Even though you feel like you "knew" a part of your heart always hopes you're wrong. Then when you find out the shock still hits you pretty hard. I hope your heart is beginning to heal.
The condo looks amazing! I have never been to Florida or Walt Disney World so I like reading the reports to see what's what :) I have been to Disneyland several times but they seem so different and yet the same.
I don't have internet at home so I can only DIS when I am at work so I'll try to post when I can. But rest assured - I am reading along and praying for everyone.
Have a great week!

Love you too!! We are doing well. I ended up keeping Jeremy home from school today due to him waking up at 1:30 am with a fever of a 102. I was able to get it under control but he has to be fever free for 24 hours and it did him good to get to sleep in this morning. He was glad for the rest. Now we'll see how he's doing in the morning on if he goes tomorrow or not. Right now I think he may be staying home because he wants to since he told me earlier tonight "Mommy I want to stay home tomorrow because I feel bad. I don't want my friends to feel bad like this." My poor baby!! Let's hope the rest of us stay healthy because I don't need the other 2, me or my DH to come down with this!!

It has been a few days since I have been by. I am so very sorry for the loss of your friend Judy - it is very clear that she was such a special person to all of you, and I pray that your happy memories carry you through these times.

Please keep praying for my little boy. He stayed home from school again today due to passing out in the bathroom this morning. :scared1: Luckily he was still home so I was here for him. I brought him to the Dr and the best we could come up with is since he's already sick and he didn't eat or drink much yesterday that his blood sugar levels were low and he just stood up too fast and down he went. The Dr told me to keep an eye on him and just make sure he drinks lots of fluids and eats at least something. We've also decided that he needs at least one more day to relax so he's off again tomorrow.

Judy, hope the rest of your day went well. It was soooo cold here (about -4 this morning) and I didn't want to roll out of bed, but it is MOPS day, so off we went. We have a bunch of teachers sick from the flu, so my class was much bigger than normal due to combining the 4's and 5+'s, but they were a great group of kids and the day went quickly. We went through a lot of hand sanitizer, though! I kept shoving it at the kids every time I saw them touch their faces because we don't want any more germs floating around. Then, Ezra and I did a really good handwashing afterward, as well. Tis the season, right? I'll be so glad when the warmer weather arrives. Everyone has been cooped up indoors due to the cold weather this week and they need to get out and run around!
Poor little Jeremy! Praying for him (and Mama, too) that he will make a quick recovery.

Enjoying the update on your trip. Your condo does look nice and so spacious. It is hard to fit a family of six in a hotel/condo. Especially when two of the kids are full grown boys! It is kind of funny that you were so happy to have two washers. I would be happy about that too! Its the little things in life :)

Thank you! I feel so helpless sometimes when they are sick. I'm hoping by relaxing tomorrow and not having to get up early will help. I found out earlier by talking to another mom in his class that 7 kids were out sick yesterday!!! :scared1: She's also frustrated with the one's who keep sending their kids in sick. You can tell who the culprits are because it's their kids who keep getting sent home early multiple days in a row!!

Also, if everyone could say a little prayer for a teacher of ours -- her dh was just deployed so she was in tears this morning (they're newlyweds) and then she got rear ended on the way home from school. We had a function at school tonight and she wasn't there -- she is home but not sure if she'll be at school tomorrow because she is in pain.
And another prayer please that only our thermostat is broken and not the furnace that needs replacing (yes, the RI house again). Dh's first check was noticeably lower despite the pay raise and BHA raise :sad2: My pay checks are so low since I work so part time that mine shouldn't be as noticeable.

It was a pretty easy day, Thank you Amy. All of this illness gong around is just yuck! Thank goodness for soap, water and sanitizer! And YOU for keeping those little hands clean! I want a tropical island and strawberry drinks from the outpost at Epcot...mine and Rachel's fave! Stay Healthy!!! :goodvibes
Poor little Jeremy! Praying for him (and Mama, too) that he will make a quick recovery.
:thumbsup2
Judy, I am so saddened to hear about the loss of your friend.
Thank you Liz. My heart hurts.
Enjoying the update on your trip. Your condo does look nice and so spacious. It is hard to fit a family of six in a hotel/condo. Especially when two of the kids are full grown boys! It is kind of funny that you were so happy to have two washers. I would be happy about that too! Its the little things in life :)
It was so wonderful and I have been dreaming of it the past to day since I posted pics! I want to be there right now! Washers on vacay make me HAPPY!!! Laughing at the full-grown boys..technically they are men...I don't see it.. :lmao::lmao: they will always be my 9+ pound newborns...
AND what is this about you going to WDW with your nephews and neice??? How COOL!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2or is it SWEEEEET!! :confused3 I think it is BOTH! :yay::yay:
So sorry to hear about your loss. I'm praying that you and her family feel God's love and His comforting arms during this time.
Thank you so much! I know she is in a much better place, I just miss her and I know her son does, he was good to her. She was a truly kind soul and I am blessed God let me know her, even for a day.
Sandra, I am so sorry.:hug:Having a sick child is scary, especially when they pass out! I think you are going to have to put some teeth in your verbs and speak to admin about the ill children, this isn't right.
 Hope he's on the men soon.
Poor dear lady, I have been there and done that ...but not on the same day!
Praying her pain resolves and her DH has a safe deployment and comes home soon to his bride...safely. I will pray for that each day.
And another prayer please that only our thermostat is broken and not the furnace that needs replacing (yes, the RI house again). Dh's first check was noticeably lower despite the pay raise and BHA raise :sad2: My pay checks are so low since I work so part time that mine shouldn't be as noticeable.
Oh Andrea, I am just beyond sad to hear this...when are these albatrosses around our neck going to fly away??? I hope that this is a cheap, quick, easy fix!!! Pete get paid tomorrow, I hope they have the tax stuff resolved so we know how low it actually will be. Good news for all is hoped and prayed for!

A friend I have known since Rachel was 2 weeks old emailed to tell me she had a ham in her freezer that she didn't use over Christmas and wanted to know if my meat loving child would like to have it...along with the rest of us, of course. We set a time for her to come by at 8 this AM (before the fun of the day started)...Guess what we are having for Sunday dinner??? :yay: Or maybe Saturday, sandwiches would be good for Sunday! :thumbsup2
Marilee and another lady from church (Ruthie) lurk around the boards (I have mentioned this before).
So THANK YOU Marilee :yay::yay: and :wave: Ruthie...dinner is a noon, want to come??? popcorn::popcorn::
It was a nice start to my day to get a hug from an old friend. I needed that.

Thanks Andrea! i just feel bad for the poor guy. Doesn't miss a day of school and now he's missing 3 in a row!!
Prayers for the teacher that she both starts to feel better and that her DH comes home safe. I could only imagine having to go through something like that.
Hope it's the cheaper fix for the thermostat!! And that the house just sells so you don't have to worry about it any more!!
Sandra, I am stopping as soon as I post this for more concentrated prayer for Jeremy. There is nothing more scary in this world than to have your child sick and I am so sorry he and you are both experiencing this. Thank you for the update. :grouphug::hug::grouphug:
Sandra, I am so sorry.:hug:Having a sick child is scary, especially when they pass out! I think you are going to have to put some teeth in your verbs and speak to admin about the ill children, this isn't right.
Thank you Judy!! The other mom and I are going to write a letter to our principal and teacher because this is just getting crazy. For 7 children out of 26 to be out on one day is just ridiculious. I understand kids get sick, so do adults and I understand that there is a nasty virus going around right now but I really feel it wouldn't be this bad if parent's and people in general would just stay home when they are sick!! Why risk getting other's sick.
Even when I knew I couldn't afford to miss work due to an illness I'd still
stay home so that I could get better faster. And to keep exposing our kids to this is just selfishness. I understand needing a break when your a stay at home mom but not at the risk of other's. There are some children and adults that if they got this could end up in the hospital and it could be 10X worse for them.
Sarah's preschool actually had a little boy in their preschool class the first few months of school who if he got sick could possibly end up in the hospital. I can't remember what he had but everyone was asked to please email the mom if our kids came down with something even our kids who didn't attend the school so that they could keep a closer watch on them. I don't know what happened but they are no longer at our preschool. At the time the parent's wanted to socialiaze him as much as possible and figured that out weighed him getting sick.
Sorry for the rant but this just makes me upset. I think of your family and other's who already have medical issues and just think they don't need to get sick on top of it. Hope you had a great day today!!!
Oh and didn't want to leave out What a great gift for you family with the ham!!! I'm sure you guys are going to enjoy it!!

If the letter doesn't work I would ask for a face to face. Good for you for standing up for your children. You sound SO much like me! There was an issue at the hem-onc clinic last week. I quietly went up and told the staff a child had copious amounts of junk rolling out her nose and they told the parent to put a mask on her (politely) and she said "I saw the signs, she isn't sick, she just has a cold". In the hem-onc clinic!
Even when I knew I couldn't afford to miss work due to an illness I'd still
stay home so that I could get better faster. And to keep exposing our kids to this is just selfishness. I understand needing a break when your a stay at home mom but not at the risk of other's. I SOOOOOOOOO agree! I am a SAHM...I don't need a break at the expense of my children or others. Some people will die if they catch certain illnesses...it is VERY selfish.

We had to do the same thing for lIsa and I can't tell you HOW many times she had to stay home due to the germs...it finally became apparent she needed to be homeschooled, I was already!
Sorry for the rant but this just makes me upset. I think of your family and other's who already have medical issues and just think they don't need to get sick on top of it. Hope you had a great day today!!!
I am right there with you it is one thing that makes me :furious:

Yum! Ham! So nice they thought of you ya'll. I just love ham. and sweet potatoes, and stuffing (though we call it potato filling since we add mashed potatoes to our stuffing, it's a PA Dutch thing).
Yesterday was JJ's check up at the neurologist. Meds were switched around. He increased his OCD med. Hopefully bedtime will begin to go better. And he was out of sorts all day yesterday. He was bouncing back and forth between the best day ever and the worse day ever; making my head spin. The appointment will have a direct result on SWW, buddy ball, and swimming. I saw you asked on the PTR, so I'll go over there and catch you up.

Really quick cuz I need to head to work, but Sandra, I just have to comment on this. I had a patient who threw up on the stairs on the way into our office and his mother still expected me to do his eye exam!!!!! The mother was furious b/c I refused to see him and stopped coming to our practice. Some people just don't seem to care about the well-being of others.
And on another note, Alexa was invited to a sleepover at the house of the girl who started the lice situation b/c her mother (who works in health care) continued to send her to school with nits. :rolleyes2
Very quickly Judy -- so far no lice on Alexa and haven't had time yet to gather refi stuff -- it's my goal for Thursday since I've wasted almost a week already.

Prayers to all with sick kids (Jeremy and others) and other illnesses in their families. Prayers to the deloyed husband for his safety while defending freedom and to his wife. I can't imagine what she is going through. My heart goes out to her.
Update on DH - pulled some magic yesterday and got our plan manager to get the talk of PT being needed dropped ONLY if we do MRI and it shows substantial instability. Pulled strings this am and got MRI scheduled for 1:00. Please, please pray that the MRI shows what the ins company needs it to show to ok the surgery.

To make potato filling:
-simmer onions in butter and kitchen bouquet browning sauce and a dash of poultry seasoning
-cut bread into cubes just like you would for stuffing, but don't use cornbread.
-add a few spoonfuls of mashed potatoes to the bread and onions and mix it together.
If you want it more like stuffing, use less bread, if you want it more like the PA Dutch kind use more mashed potatoes. Add an egg and mix. Bake at 350.
I don't add eggs to mine, but my mom does.

Our hem-onc clinic won't do anything about people that seem to be sick. :( If a child has a fever, they do have to go back to a cubicle. Other than that, if you're concerned, you have the choice to wear a mask yourself, or go back to a cubicle if one is available.

It's been unseasonably warm in Orlando this January. Just a bit too warm for my taste. I am still hoping and praying that we might get a few cool days before Spring and Summer rush in. There is nothing like spending the day at Disney with a little chill in the air.

Judy - sorry to hear about your friend. I lost an IRL friend this year to cancer, and she too was a single mom who left behind teenagers. I think about her daily, she was the kind of friend who is always there, just a great friend to everyone she knew. I had the advantage of being able to gather with friends and mourn her and honor her, I don't know how I would feel if I had not had that! Sorry you didn;t get that chance to remember her with friends, maybe you need a thread on the DIS to share memories with her other friends here.

I had the advantage of being able to gather with friends and mourn her and honor her, I don't know how I would feel if I had not had that! Sorry you didn;t get that chance to remember her with friends, maybe you need a thread on the DIS to share memories with her other friends here.
Thank you. :goodvibes
I am truly sorry to read about your friend. It hurts to lose someone you love. I was blessed to spend time with my DIS friend this summer, meet her wonderful son, we even stayed at her apartment. I honestly started a thread I never posted, in her honor, then realized I was doing it for ME, not her. She liked anonymity. This is the type of dilemma I would have sought her advice on. Thank you for the support.

Dinner WAS yummy! My cornbread looked so pretty when I pulled it out of the oven, I thought...I wish ya'll could see how good this looks...so, I took a picture...and since I was snapping, I took the mac-&-cheese as well. I believe I have been looking at too many TRs with food pics... :rotfl2:Don't worry, we had salad to balance it out...and only ate half, so after my long day tomorrow, I have dinner already to serve. :woohoo:
And Now I Proudly Present...Our dinner!

I talked to another mom today and she's on board to get invloved too. Friday I have a room parent meeting and am going to bring it up with them too and see if they see what I'm seeing. The nice thing about our principal is she has an open door policy and when I had an issue with people not following the drive through pick up rules she came out and watched for a week who the culprits where and now we no longer have the issues. If you want to get out of your car don't do drive through!!
I would have been saying something too and I have!! And I'm sorry if you have a cold your sick!!!!! That's just crazy!
I SOOOOOOOOO agree! I am a SAHM...I don't need a break at the expense of my children or others. Some people will die if they catch certain illnesses...it is VERY selfish.
Exactly! My mom's friend who passed away in October due to cancer didn't actually die due to the cancer it was the pneumonia that actually got her since her immune system was already compromised. It's very sad when people are that selfish!!
We had to do the same thing for lIsa and I can't tell you HOW many times she had to stay home due to the germs...it finally became apparent she needed to be homeschooled, I was already!
At least you tried like that family did but unfortunatly it doesn't always work out and you found something that worked for you!
Your dinner looked yummy!!!! Always nice when you can cook once and have a meal already made for the next night!!
Wow!! That's just crazy!! That's when I would have walked up to the counter and said I need to reschedule. Some people are just very selfish or oblivious to what's going on around them. It's sad!
I hope Alexa understood why she wasn't allowed to go! I hope she continues to stay lice free!!

Judy, That corn bread and macaroni looks delicious. I was thinking you needed some pinto beans to enhance the flavors. Praying you had a good day.
Pinto Beans...we actually eat those too with cornbread. Rachel informed me I hadn't made cornbread since Bandit was sick last year...I guess that is why she had two pieces. :rotfl2:
dinner looks very yummy! is that the same mac n' cheese you made when we were there??? if it is, then I know it is yummy!
It was very similar to what I made you, just less cheese and no heavy cream. It was still good, just a bit lighter. And that was my cornbread, pretty good if I do say so..we never had time for that though, so when are you coming back? I have food to feed you! It looks like you are booked until 2014!

Exactly! My mom's friend who passed away in October due to cancer didn't actually die due to the cancer it was the pneumonia that actually got her since her immune system was already compromised. It's very sad when people are that selfish!!

OMGosh Judy I can't believe I didn't tell you!!! He's now been fever free for over 24 hours. Still has a little cough but his color, appetite and energy level has returned!! So as long as he's still looking good and feeling good back to school he goes in the morning.
Now let's hope Sarah doesn't have a repeat of today. Poor thing woke up at 6:30 am with her tummy hurting. No fever, no cough, nothing and she was fine after just resting this morning and finally eating a little cereal and drinking a little milk.

Popping in to say good morning. Supposed to be warmer here today - hooray! I'm going to try to open some windows and let in some fresh air, if it gets warm enough. I hate stale winter air in the house.
Prayers for Tracy's Grandma, Scotty & Michelle, John, Angel, and the rest who have asked for them. I may not remember names all the time, but I do think often of the requests here and pray for you all as you come to mind.
Judy, your dinner looked scrumptious! My resolution this year was to clean out and use up what was in my freezer/pantry before buying more groceries, so last night we had "freezer soup" - basically, all those odds and ends of meat bits and veggies that aren't enough for a whole meal got dumped in the crockpot for the day and I added some home baked rolls. It tasted good, but it wasn't very pretty!

Just a quick update since you asked :) (I am going to do a trip report---just waiting on all the pics from three other cameras plus PhotoPass, and deciding what, if any, MarathonFoto pics we're going to get) We had a great time doing the Half Marathon. We finished in 3 hrs, 2 mins, and 37 seconds. I tripped over a curb that started before I expected it to and fell down in the TTC parking lot and tore up the heel of my left hand--would have been worse had I not fallen in pea gravel. We also stopped for a photo op in front of the castle and a hug with Donald at the Finish Line. I'm hooked and planning on the Princess Half in 2014. And, my best friend and her hubby definitely got bitten by the Disney bug. Within 24 hours they were talking about "next time" -- and we hadn't even been to the parks yet.
I, too, am wondering how Scotty is doing. Glad to hear Jeremy is on the mend, and prayers for all the other needs mentioned, Tracy's grandmother, kids, houses, etc. :grouphug:

Today has been quite a day. They are expecting we will have some wintry weather mix this evening; however, it is just pouring down rain right now. I NEEDED to go to the grocery store (I can send Christian for some things; however, that doesn't work when we need more than 20 or so items) and it had to be early, so I was out of here at 6:30 to shop. Who remembers when stores weren't so liberal with their hours... Got back here dropped off the food and was at my parents by 8:30, my Mom needed her injection into her eye today (my heart aches for her each time she has to do this). They had us out by 11:30, I had my parents back home by noon and they had no power. It came back on shortly after (PTL) and I came home just in time to talk to Tink on the phone (hi Tink). Lisa had an MD appt, then back home to change for ballet and Christian (God bless him) said he would take her to ballet so I could breathe for a minute...so I am DISing! It is POURING down rain and I wish I had taken her now, I am such a nervous nellie sometimes. I hope you al have had a better day. TRACY, lifting you al up and I am praying specifically for all of you...spoken and unspoken. :grouphug:

After swimming, everybody came back to the condo and cleaned up for dinner. We were meeting a truly AWESOME lady... TRACY aka: DISNORTH
We piled into the van and made our first sighting of that wonderful sign we all long to see. I also snapped one of the turn to DHS and the back view of ToT.

We turned into the Swan-Dolphin parking lot, we were having dinner at the Garden Grove Restaurant.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/dinner%20with%20tracy/file_zpsa3340945.jpg
We pulled up front and were told it was $15 to park...FIFTEEN DOLLARS??? :scared1: To park for DINNER??? Surely you jest! They wouldn’t take a credit card and we told them we had to get cash. Pete drove us across the street to the Mini Golf course and said we could park there...um, NO, first that isn’t right and second I didn’t want to be towed. Pete said he didn’t want to be robbed by the hotel. We pooled our money (we don’t carry much cash). We finally drove back over, and paid with lots of dollars and coins...and they left our car parked at the curb. They didn’t have a ticket to give me and I will be honest, all through dinner I was a bit nervous we would come back out and the car would have disappeared and “David”, who took our money would have disappeared and they would tell us no one by that name worked there. If you have read many of my posts, you know this is definitely in the realm of our possibility and world! :lmao:
We were early , so we went in the store to look around. The employees kept staring at me, I was carrying my beautiful rosetta bag LisaB gave me for my Birthday. We were playing around and the kids let me take a few pics with the hats on their heads...except for David, no hat pics to wind up on the DIS.

The employees were STILL staring at me and I thought maybe they thought I was stealing something, since my bag was large. I needed to make sure I had my keys (Pete had left his with “David”). The store was empty, so I walked to the counter and placed my bag on it and began looking for my keys. I struck up a conversation, explaining what I was doing. I didn’t want them to think I was stealing, since I saw them looking my way (It was actually rude the way they were talking and pointing). One of the ladies said, no we were trying to figure out if it was a skirt...I am a BIG lady, no way was THIS a skirt!
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l157/bunnyboo5/file_zps33fbbbee.jpg
I smiled and said no, it was my wonderful birthday present from my sweet sister, isn’t it pretty. One of them said and I quote “well...it certainly is....um ...... um ..... interesting....” I burst out laughing and said I KNOW, I LOVE IT!!! I think that was their way of letting me know they didn't like it. But I DO!!! :rotfl2:
It was getting close to time to meet Tracy and we went over to wait on her to arrive. I recognized her right away and gave her a hug. Honestly it felt as if I had known her forever. We went right in, this restaurant is NOT crowded. There are only two characters; however, I would definitely recommend this dinner for families who need a little less stimulation; however, still want to see a few characters with their meal. I imagine breakfast might be a bit more hectic.
The restaurant is circular. As you walk in the buffet is to the left and in the center of the restaurant there is a beautiful 25-foot oak tree, adorned with twinkling lights and paper lanterns. They have three different Theme Nights. Southern Barbecue (that would have been right down my alley...if they knew how to cook it), Seafood Night and Mediterranean night. We were there on Mediterranean Night, which “ features your favorite pasta and beef dishes along with other fresh offerings including lemon and herb chicken and baked eggplant parmesan”. I think Tracy and I both agree that it wasn’t the best food (although my guys loved it and the girls loved the children's fare, although they did eat some off of the adult buffet as well). What I LOVED was Tracy...she was so easy to talk too, my children loved her and we laughed so hard my sides hurt by the end of the night. The staff kept promising me tiramisu; however, even the manager couldn't’ find any...still haven’t had any... and it wasn’t MY idea, it was the pasta maker wanting to get me some as we drooled over all of the fancy desserts. Oh that pasta was GOOD! And the cook was very sweet. We saw the same two characters a LOT and I declare, Lisa hugged them and waved every time they came by.

Now the moment of truth...will my van be there?? Thankfully it was! We all crawled inside, stopped at the gas station to fill up and laughed some more! The children really loved teasing with Tracy and we truly enjoyed her. I felt as if we had known her forever. We dropped Tracy off at her hotel (she was switching resorts) and we got to see the AoA from the outside...GORGEOUS. We said our goodbyes, got a few more hugs and made the quick trip back to our resort. Everybody was exhausted, so it wasn’t hard to get them to bed. After all, tomorrow we were going “home.”

Your dinner looks delicious! I love cornbread! I should really try and make it sometime (although I'd be eating it all alone lol)
I'm sorry that you had such a crazy day! Being busy and having bad weather and other things going on makes for a stressful day. I'm glad that you did manage to get a bit of a dis break though :goodvibes
I think that it is kind of strange how the CM's treated you about your bag… But your dinner looked great! Lots of family photos and Lisa looks so excited to meet the characters. And I liked getting to see a couple of shots of you as well - you look so pretty and happy!

Thank you all for the well wishes of Jeremy getting better!! Now if we can keep them coming for poor Sarah. Her symptoms are a little different she has the typical cold signs running nose and coughing. Poor thing came home from school today be cause when I dropped her off she wasn't showing signs of being sick then within 30 mins of being there her nose was running, her eyes were all red and she was coughing like crazy. So home we went. Think I'm just going to keep her home tomorrow as a precaution.
What a fun update!! Love how the characters just kept coming back to give more love to you guys. I'm glad to see you guys were having a great time!! That was very sweet of Disnorth to treat your family like that!!! The girls looked so cute in their outfits and what fun hat pictures!!

Great photos! I'm glad you have so many with Tracy. I can tell just by looking at Tracy that she's awesome -- she just has that look of kind hospitality about her.
Sorry don't have time to comment more. Yes, I worked yesterday; yes, I am sick today. I knew it would happen!!!! Sad thing is I think one of our opticians who was coughing all day gave it to me. I am quite peeved. Off to rest....

Judy, what a fun, fun update. I love all the character photos with the kids and you and hubby. How sweet of Tracy to treat you all to dinner (I never knew they had characters there). Looks as if you all had a great time.

The pictures of your dinner last night looks really yummy! We've been having soup lately to help warm us up. I never heard of hominy until Billy came home one day after going to the grocery store and wanted to know what Posole tasted like. I never had it before. A friend who grew up here told me how to make it plus I did some research on the internet. I've since made my own version of it with pork, hominy and red chili. Nice on a cold day. Now we are enjoying some turkey soup.
Love the latest update! That was so nice of Tracy to treat you all to dinner and have a DIS meet. Glad you had lots of fun getting to know each other. The restaurant didn't look too crowded and you got a lot of nice pictures of each of you with Pluto and Goofy. The girls outfits are so cute. Your bag and Tracy's are really nice.
Praying for Tracy's grandmother and family! Also for Sarah, Andrea and others here.
Judy, praying that everyone is home safe before the storm comes through. Glad the power came back on your parents home and they are doing as well as can be with their health issues.

Hey Judy, I told you in my p.m. that I'd be coming out of lurkdome and here I am. I also warned you....I am chatty. Just ask KatMark and lovethattink, they'll tell you it's true. :rotfl:
There's way too much to comment on so I'll simply start with your most recent posts. I'm sorry to say that, even though I'm a true Southern gal, I am not a cornbread lover. I'll cook it but I don't eat it. Now, grits, that's a whole different story. Throw in some cheese and lots of butter and I'm all over them. We have a garden and I was able to freeze and can lots of stuff this year even though it was so hot that the garden didn't produce as well as it did in previous years. I just used up the last of my canned tomatoes in spaghetti sauce and it was delicious! I can hardly wait to get the garden planted again.
I hope that the weather didn't get too bad. I know that us mothers worry when our kids, no matter what age they are, are out and about when the weather is bad. Yes, I do remember the days when the stores had limited hours and weren't open on Sundays. How did we ever work around those hours?
How sweet of Tracy to treat your family to a meal at the Swan & Dolphin. I love Dis meets. Oh wait, I meant to comment on your purse and the rude CM. I love the purse and can't see why the CM felt the need to stare. I thought that you were going to say that they wanted to know where you bought it.
Okay, so I guess that's it for now. I promise that I'll keep posting from now on.

I found out Wednesday night they were expecting a huge weather event here in Charlotte with snow 2 to 4 inches. We had thundersnow and a few huge wet drops of snow (after it had poured rain all day). There was also some ferocious wind that actually blew one of our kitchen bay windows in. Thankfully, Pete was home and he was able to rig it so the wind, rain and snow couldn't continue to pour in the window. We had quite the mess; however, the glass didn't shatter so that was a blessing.
There will be a lot of running in and out today since the weather didn't shut anything down. We are hosting all of the seniors tonight at our house. They have strict orders NOT to come if they are sick and I have no problem saying SORRY, not tonight! I am sure I will have a houseful, the moms tend to stick around as well...
I will be answering everyone today as I am able, but a special wave  to my new friend, Lisa! (Don't you all love her name?? I KNOW you do, Miss LisaB).
Your dinner looks delicious! I love cornbread! I should really try and make it sometime (although I'd be eating it all alone lol)
Okay you are on the list...lunch is at noon! No one should eat alone.
I'm sorry that you had such a crazy day! Being busy and having bad weather and other things going on makes for a stressful day. I'm glad that you did manage to get a bit of a dis break though :goodvibes
It was so kind of my sweet son, he knew I needed a little rest. He actually has had to take the children to a lot of their activities and never complains.
I think that it is kind of strange how the CM's treated you about your bag… But your dinner looked great! Lots of family photos and Lisa looks so excited to meet the characters. And I liked getting to see a couple of shots of you as well - you look so pretty and happy!
You are very kind, Thank you . I don't usually post a lot of me..and there usually aren't a lot of me to post! :rotfl2: As for the CM's...I figured they wished they had someone who loved them enough to give them a Minnie bag...it really IS cute! I find people either love it or don't like it at all. This hotel was like any other "ritzy" hotel, and didn't feel very Disney to me. Here we were in "homemade" T-shirts and shorts/jeans...we really fit in. :lmao::lmao: I :love: our custom clothes, I want to wear them everyday!
Thank you all for the well wishes of Jeremy getting better!! Now if we can keep them coming for poor Sarah. It was a great bit of Pixie Dust and I can't wait to see Tracy again. Thank you all for the prayers for her and her Grandmother. Please keep them coming. It was a great night and I loved seeing Tracy with the characters as much as my children. She looks young enough to BE one of my children!
Great photos! I'm glad you have so many with Tracy. I can tell just by looking at Tracy that she's awesome -- she just has that look of kind hospitality about her.
She was! She reminds us of Pete's sister, although she doesn't look a thing line her. Wonderful...like you!

Judy, what a fun, fun update. I love all the character photos with the kids and you and hubby. How sweet of Tracy to treat you all to dinner (I never knew they had characters there). Looks as if you all had a great time.
This entire trip was fun updates I am happy to say! I took TONS of pics and Lisa was happy to oblige. I declare, if Goofy or Pluto had sat down she would have curled up in their lap and just snuggled. Tracy was quite kind to treat us, after all there WERE 6 of us! As you know, we have been blessed beyond measure by some exceptionally kind people. ONe is even named Kathy...:rolleyes1
The Swan and Dolphin will rip you off for every little thing.

Oh, how fun to meet up with Tracy. She looks like she is a real sweetheart - I'm so glad you were able to get together and enjoy some fellowship! I'll continue to pray for her grandma; I'm very close to mine and it is scary when they are ill. My grandmother is going for a follow-up appointment today to check her white blood cell count. You may remember it had dropped quite low, and they did not know why. Her last appointment about 3 weeks ago showed it was improving a bit, so she is going again today to see what is happening.
So sorry to hear about your window! When it rains, it pours, literally. Hope you can get that fixed up soon so you don't have further damage to your house. I'm glad Christian was able to help out so you could get a bit of a break and catch your breath. You can't take care of everyone else without taking care of yourself once in awhile.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The kids have a half day today and are off on Monday, so we are going to try to make our own fun around here....starting with sleeping in tomorrow - we all need it!

It was actually a bust with the weather, if the window hadn't misbehaved, we would have been fine. I am glad it didn't happen when everyone was here tonight, I would have been embarrassed. I am tankful for more flexible store hours.
It truly was a blessing, we have met some wonderful, incredible people here on the DIS and I KNOW they have been heaven sent! I take people like that with a smile...the fact there was several of them was surprising to me though. I LOVE my purse! I think of LisaB every time I use it..which is often!
Okay, so I guess that's it for now. I promise that I'll keep posting from now on.
REALLY glad you let me know you were here and Thank you for listening to the whispers from above. You post whenever you have a free moment, I will have a smile every time I see you here.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
Kathy...I am not chatty either...just wordy... :rotfl:
Come on now, Kathy, tell it like it is. :rotfl2:
I can tell the two of you have a great relationship. :goodvibes
She is a sweetie. I am glad she shared with you all about her Grandmother. It is so sad. Please keep us updated on YOUR Grandmother, praying her counts are good. And are your hands completely healed?? Did Elisabeth ever get a letter from Lisa near Christmas?
So sorry to hear about your window! When it rains, it pours, literally. Hope you can get that fixed up soon so you don't have further damage to your house. I'm glad Christian was able to help out so you could get a bit of a break and catch your breath. You can't take care of everyone else without taking care of yourself once in awhile.
Thankfully Pete has it all fixed for the moment! Christian does al he can to help me. Actually they all do. They have been helping me get the house in order for tonight as I run in and out between appts. I long for that tropical isle of mine. :beach:
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The kids have a half day today and are off on Monday, so we are going to try to make our own fun around here....starting with sleeping in tomorrow - we all need it!
Oh boy, a long weekend! :woohoo: David will be marching in the parade with the Firefighter's tomorrow, so we will be up early. Enjoy some fun family time.
what a fun night! happy you got to meet Tracy and how sweet of her to treat for dinner! great photos with Goofy and Pluto! and love the hat photos too!
It was AWESOME!!! You would love Tracy, you really would! :goodvibes Those kids love to put hats on their heads...and I always think if lice...my MOm used ot tel us that all the time growing up.
on no about the window - happy it didn't shatter and hope its an easy fix!
hope the weather improves today!
Pete fixed it somehow from blowing in and I was thankful. At least it is a bit warmer today.
continued P & PD to all in need ---- Andrea feel better
YES ANDREA!:hug: And everybody else!
have fun tonight with all the seniors - sweet of you to host!
I typically love to host you know. :goodvibes It should be fun...and my house smells clean, the kids used some pinesol to mop the floor. :yay:

Sorry to hear about what the wind did to one of your bay windows. Good that Pete was able to fix it! How nice of the children to help get the house ready for the meeting tonight! :thumbsup2 Cleaning the house is my chore today... along with :laundy:. Taking a short break before continuing. We are warming up into the 50's again.

Oh no for your window!! :scared1: That had to have been scary but that is great that it didn't break!!
Have fun tonight!! I don't blame you for turning them away if they are sick! You don't need that on top of everything else!
Stay safe while your out running around.
Glad you are keeping Sarah home, poor sweetie. I pray everybody is feeling MUCH better and the weekend will find you all healthy! When is your appt?
We are on the mend and I'm glad it's a 3 day weekend so we can just lay low and relax.
I'm waiting for a call back from my Dr's office to hopefully schedule it beginning of next week. According the one of the advice nurses I talked to today she said I should have already been seen and doesn't know why the one I talked to at the begining of the month didn't figure out the dates right!! I also really meant to call them earlier this week but with everyone getting sick I just kind of forgot. I'll keep you posted.
Edited: Ok I've got an appt on Monday at 1:30 pm. I'll let you know how it goes!!
It was a great bit of Pixie Dust and I can't wait to see Tracy again. Thank you all for the prayers for her and her Grandmother. Please keep them coming. It was a great night and I loved seeing Tracy with the characters as much as my children. She looks young enough to BE one of my children!
Continued prayers for her and her grandma!!

Judy, thanks for asking about my hands and my Grandma. She got great news today - her numbers are back up in the normal range! She'll go for another follow up in several more weeks. They don't know why they dropped down to begin with, but we are all so relieved they came back up again. My hands are almost completely healed. I still have some stiffness on the joint where the skin is a bit different, but I have enough range of motion to play the piano again. Elisabeth never did get Lisa's letter, but we did get your cute Christmas card and it is still proudly displayed in her room. Sounds like you had a bunch of stuff go missing with the postal system this Christmas. Wonder what happened?
Have fun at the parade tomorrow. Hope the weather cooperates for you!

Judy,I know I wont remember the right order to comment on everything so Ill just comment as I think of it.
What a fun update. Your dinner with Tracy looked like a lot of fun and how nice of her to treat you all.
Ugh all the comments about people going places they shouldn't while they are sick. We had an experience with that last week. John has been moved to a new primary care dr in a clinic especially for critically ill patients. The nurse checking John in the other day was coughing and hacking up a storm. When I asked her about the mask she was wearing around her neck (but not on her face like she should have) she said it was too uncomfortable to wear. HELLO! You work in a office that deals with critically ill people. We have been told what an illness can do to Johns life spa. Im sure its similar for many of thier patients. Thankfully John dident get sick but I did report her. I hope it was dealt with quickley.
Mmmmm cornbread, grits, macoroni and cheese, stewed tomatos. I grew up on southern cooking.Dont know where my grandmother got it from as Utah and Wyoming arent exactly in the south but according to my Southern friends who have triec my grandmas recipes. She knew her Southern cooking. She did a lot of canning too but I have never been brave enough to try it on my own.
Hope your get together for the Seniors went well.
Prayers for all those in need. Tracy and her grandmother, Angel, and all those whose names I cant remember but who are on my heart.
As always Judy prayers for you and your family.
Oh and Judy look for a bit of an update in the next few days on my TR.

What a great DIS meet dinner! I had a preview and saw a picture or two when we met. They look so much better on my lapto then in thumbnail. I can see details.
We loved seeing you on our trip, although it was too short. It is hard to see the pics on the tiny camera viewfinder, that is certain!
You told me about the bag comment, how rude!
It was, I agree. I felt sorry for her, not seeing the value in my bag.
That's a great picture by the swans.
It was gorgeous in the hotel.
Praying JJ is MUCH better today. :grouphug::grouphug:
:cool1: Yay Lisa's here! Well, I guess you've been here...Hurray for coming out of lurkdom.
I love it when a lurker comes out to say hello! :grouphug::grouphug: Thank you Lisa!
You chatty?
Lisa and I have decided we are two peas in a pod!
My lips are sealed, but I'm sure smiling!
Ya'll make ME smile! :thumbsup2
Thank You for your prayers for my grandmother, I appreciate it very much. I am flying down tonight to see her. The drs. diagnosed her with lung cancer and said anyone that wants to visit should do it in the next couple weeks.
Tracy, I am happy you shared with everyone else how serious this is and that you know there are many praying for you. This is tough, I know! :grouphug::grouphug:
The update put a smile on my face Judy, thank you! It was such a fun evening. Your Children totaly entertained me, they are so clever and funny! Thanks for not mentioning that I was late for dinner!
I knew you were flying out yesterday and it might be a while before you DISed...I wanted you to see the update before you left. You brought such joy to our trip, Thank you! The children loved interacting with you, you were so much fun. I would NEVER have told you were a little late. It wasn't your fault the boats were so crowded. It seemed to be a theme that entire week!
I may not get on so often over the next little while, but you are all in my thoughs and prayers.
Praying my friend, I will be waiting to hear from you!
What a fabulous dinner with Tracy! Love the photos and how you can see in all of your faces the fun times you were having. Laughter is the best medicine and make a soul feel good!!!
Thanks Alyson. I so agree with you about the laughter. We were so worried about my Dad and this trip helped so much. Tracy got us in the right frame of mind to enjoy it all!
So sorry to hear about your window. I know that had to scare you when it happened. We got lots of rain here as well.
We have had some crazy weather, I just hope the wind stops being so aggressive! These windows are giving me a fit, it is so expensive to replace one and we have 28 needing to be replaced. :faint:
Praying for Tracy's grandmother. Any updates?
She left yesterday to be with her this weekend. They had a truly wonderful Christmas; however, Tracy had to go back to work at the beginning and the news just came this week. I KNOW she appreciate the prayers.
Now, how about an update on DH? Any news??? Keeping that in prayer as well, it is so stressful to wait even hen you know it will be done in God's timing. It is hard. :grouphug::grouphug:

Thank you Gail, we had a great day, pretty albeit a little chilly. Nothing like you though! When we all jumped in together, the house gets clean fairly quickly. I wish we were close enought to help YOU! The seniors had a great time last night, I loved hearing them laugh. We had one Dad who would not leave, so Pete and I entertained...he was very nice, but it would have been nice to have some quiet time too. I am so blessed Pete fixed the window.
Oh no for your window!! :scared1: That had to have been scary but that is great that it didn't break!!

Handsome, handsome, David!!! I LOVE The pics with Lisa and the Turkey Leg. SO sorry to hear about the window, that would have scared the pants off me being near it, but glad Pete was able to fix it!

We are at my folks' this weekend and we watched the videos we took on this last trip. NOT ENOUGH! LOL My parents got to see the video from the end of the Half Marathon for the first time...Bill caught about every emotion under the sun on me (okay, no anger, so not EVERY emotion LOL), and my Mom *and* my Dad were both crying at the end of it. Thank you!! I am too!! I still couldn't believe how upset my Dr's nurse was that I hadn't already been in. I understood your frustration with Dr's before this but now I really get it!! I'll be sure to get on sometime Monday afternoon and let you know how it goes.
I have been concerned, so I am happy they are seeing you Monday! You really DO have to stay on top of EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING!
Love the joy on Lisa's face while she was eating her turkey leg. I loved how Bandit was right there the whole time she has it.
Lisa was in heaven and has two more to enjoy. She was so happy. We are having our ham tomorrow, so that will be another happy day for her. Bandit wanted some, but he is always good to wait to be asked. My parents dog and my brother's dog would NEVER sit quietly if you have food, they would be right up in your face if you were sitting down and had food. Bandit is just the best little dog and so well behaved. And didn't get one bite of turkey! :rotfl2: I was the only one offered any and I wouldn't have tasted it for the world, it was ALL Lisa's!

Hi Judy, just answered your e-mail. Had the family over tonight to celebrate our daughter's birthday, even though it's really tomorrow.
David is so handsome in his uniform and love the pictures of Lisa with her turkey leg! I had a leftover turkey leg for lunch. I ate it before Tiffy came back inside. She could sure smell it when she came back in and ran around looking for it. She missed out. I guess Bandit missed out too. At least he behaves nicely and waits to see if he'll be offered any. Enjoy your ham tomorrow!

I'm sure she going to savor every single bite of the other 2 also!! That was sweet of Lisa to want to share with you but I probably wouldn't have taken a piece either. It was her's to enjoy. We love ham here too!!
You could tell Bandit wanted it but wasn't going to just take it. Even though it probably crossed his mind a time or two. :lmao: My grandparent's dogs were like that, right up into your face. Our dog Bear (who I miss every day ) was just like Bandit. He would sit there and watch you but never try to take anything until you gave it to him. He was a queensland healer/border collie mix so he wasn't a small dog!! He was also great around kids. If they had something he wanted he'd just sit and watch them never go after it and if they went to give him a treat he'd be as gentle as possible (even when they'd hold onto most of the treat and left just a little sliver for him to bit on to) and never once hurt anyone.

Thank you Gail, my children really are beautiful, if I do say so. They radiate from inside. And the look of pure happiness/contentment on Lisa's face was priceless as she ate her turkey leg. I can't wait to tell Lisa you had one as well! :goodvibes

I love how giving my children are. It wasn't hard to say no to the Turkey leg, she was enjoying it to the fullest.

He would have happily joined her had she invited him. He LOVES Turkey. Bear sounds like a TEDDY Bear, what a sweet memory. I know you miss him. :grouphug::grouphug:

I had planned to work on responses on the MAW TR and FINALLY answer my too full PM box; however, this news about Tracy's grandmother has hit me hard.
So many of you mean a great deal to me ... I want to say Thank you for being a part of my life, for loving my family and for your kindness. Remember to tell people you care about what they mean to you; Forgive those who have hurt you, life is short.
And leave me a message if you read here, even if you never have...it DOES mean something to me. :flower3:
