Hi Everyone :wave2:. I’ve been on the DIS for quite a while, but usually in the form of a lurker, and not really a poster. However, I really love reading trip reports & looking at everyone’s pictures & stories. I figured I’d finally give writing my own trip report a go since I finally had a fun story to tell …… So here’s goes nothing!!

I’ll introduce myself and my family first, then I’ll tell you our One More Disney Day story ..pixiedust:

I’m Jennifer (but usually just Jen). I never did much traveling as a child and never got to do Disney growing up (tragic, right?), but don’t worry… I have been busy making up for my childhood Disney absence now as an adult! I love all things Disney, as well as photography, blogging & scrapbooking. I usually read all sorts of Disney websites daily and love daydreaming about and planning our next Disney trip (even when we don’t have one booked). Since we live in Nevada, we mostly go to DL, but we’ve also been to WDW once in 2010.

DBF – Andy. We’ve been together 7+yrs. On the outside, he pretends he doesn’t love Disney, but I know he really does, (really!). He enjoys the rides & food, but most importantly enjoys the fact that I super-plan all our trips, and all he has to do is show up. :) Besides all that, our trips get him out of work, so what’s not to love??? He really is a trooper though, and puts up with all my Disney obsessions (which probably only got worse after OMDD ::yes::)

DS – Tyler. He’s 11 and a really great kid (and not just because I'm saying so). His first trip to DL was when he was 3 years old, and he’s always loved Disney.. Now that he’s older, according to him the taller, faster and/or wetter the ride, the better. This year he wrote in a school essay that I was a “psycho Disney mom”. I hope his teacher understood he meant psycho in the good way. :) (full disclosure - That essay was written during the Mom's Panel application process, (Round2 for me this year) so I'm quite sure psycho could've been partially accurate, LOL.):faint:

DD (as in Daughter/slash/Dog) - Rylee. She is a yellow lab. I can't believe I almost forgot to include her here. She is the one thing I probably have as many photos of as Disney. :) Our Ryles is probably the only reason we don't do DL more -- She is such an important part of our family & so completely spoiled... The boys always miss her terribly whenever we're away.

I guess I should mention that this isn't my first win from a Disney sweepstakes..

Before y'all get out your torches & pitchforks, let me explain. My first contest win was a sweepstakes for a Disney trip a few years back, which was sponsored by a dental company. Nope, I didn't win the trip.. what I did win was............500 dental flossers!! :laughing:Seriously, I just kept pulling more and more flossers out of the box, it was pretty funny. And yes, I'm still using them.

My second win was another runner-up prize. Let me tell you, when you receive a fancy letter saying you won a Disney 'something', your heart stops & you cannot read that letter fast enough.. I finally got all the way to the bottom of the letter... and I was the lucky runner-up winner of... a Disney coloring book (value $2).

Both times, I was just happy to win something/anything. Never in a million years did I think I'd ever really win anything big in my lifetime. However, all that changed on February 20, 2012.....................

:woohoo:

I have wondered if stays at the Yacht & Beach Club (and other Deluxe resorts) were available to winners of the contests. I saw on another post that Deluxe stays and also out of pocket add ons were possible to winners!

Have you been over to the thread over the past few days, or received a letter about the refurbishment of the Jib Slide?

From what I understand, the Jib Slide and that portion of the pool will be closed from Jan 17 to about Jan 25, but guests of Y&B will be able to use the slide at the Luna Park Pool at the Boardwalk. The other areas of SAB, the Lazy River and sandy beach portions, will still be open during those times.

Yes I did read about the refurb, but thanks for the info again .. I haven't broken the news to DS yet, he will be quite disappointed about the slide....:guilty: I understand that's the chances we take for taking our vacation during the off season. :confused3 It's just too bad he'll be missing the slide being open by 2 days... boo ! I haven't checked my mail in a couple days, so not sure if I received my letter yet.

Monday, February 20th was Presidents' Day, so we were all home from school and work. It started out as just any normal day at home. Andy was in the front doing some yard work, and Tyler and I were in his room attempting to de-junk his closed (ug!) in preparation for our upcoming move.

In his closet, we came across one of his favorite shirts, one he got on our first/last trip to WDW..

"Mom, because of the new house, we're not going to be able to go to WDW for a while, because we're going to be broke, right?"

I laughed. "Well, you're probably right.. but I'd hoped we could go back to Florida again sometime in the next few years..we'll see.. Maybe in 2014, or how about you try Santa?" :santa:

"Waah", says Tyler. (According to him, "we'll see" means no, and I'm pretty sure he's onto me on the whole Santa-thing.) :rotfl: We get back to tackling the closet.

30 minutes later, Andy pokes his head in the door.. He holds up a Fedex envelope. "This just came for you?"

I hadn't ordered anything.. But then again, it wasn't really a package, just an envelope. An envelope overnighted from New York. What is this? Something financial or legal or ....... ??? I don't know anyone in New York. I had no clue.:confused3

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/s3_zpsd31a0f6c.jpg

I open it up..

Dear Jennifer,

Important Notice!

Your entry into the "One More Disney Day Sweepstakes" sponsored by Disney has been selected as a potential prize winner. We say "potential" winner because according to the official rules, before the prize can be awarded, the potential winner must complete, have notarized, and return the attached Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity Release. This is to enable us to verify your eligibility, confirm your address, and obtain information needed to award your prize......... If we don't receive our Affidavit by February 23, your entry will be disqualified and well have to select an alternate winner, so please be prompt! You will be contacted within seven (7) business days after we receive your completed Affidavit with specific details regarding your prize award status.

I speed-read all of this once or twice. Am I really reading what I'm reading? At that point I may or may not have started screaming and yelling, opened the front door, yelled something out to Andy, and then read it one more time to make sure I really read what I just read. I'm pretty sure Tyler thought I'd lost my mind. :yay: Andy thought it was fake. "Are these New York people asking for your social security number?" "How do you know this is real?!" "What kind of info do we have to give them?" :scratchin Hey mister, your super rational thoughts are totally no fun at all !!! I explain to him that this company must be who handles the Sweepstakes & selection of winners. Once a winner is confirmed, they are then turned over to Disney.

All I know is I didn't have much time to get this returned, especially since today was a holiday - eek! I immediately raced to the computer to look up the Sweepstakes, so I could first of all remember what the prize was! I had indeed been entering this contest online pretty much every day, along with various other sweepstakes, which Andy always thought was kind of silly. (I showed him!)

This sweepstakes was leading up to the One More Disney Day leap-year celebration, where the parks were open for 24hours. Disney was giving away one trip each day during January & February. (My name was drawn Feb 15.) Tyler & I start reading the loooong list of Official Rules from Disney's website... the prize was indeed a trip!!! Winners' choice of DL or WDW! I was in shock. Tyler and I were JUST talking about Disney World!!!!!!! Andy says not to get too excited until I find out for sure.. However, he should know better.. it's WAY too late. I can't stop jumping up and down.:banana: What do I do? Who do I tell? Everybody? Nobody? I'm freaking out. :woohoo:

My next online destination was to the DIS. I had been a bad Dis-er lately, and had not been on the site much. Since a Disney trip was not going to be possible for a little while with our move, I had been trying not to torture myself too much. :rotfl: I quickly found the section on the OMDD Sweepstakes, along with the hilarious antics of Disers stalking Fedex trucks in their neighborhoods, which I was now sad that I had missed. To my surprise there were some winning Disers on there! I couldn't read the pages of posts fast enough...To my excitement I saw that they had received the same magical Fedex delivery, and had gone through this same process.. See family, THIS IS REAL !! pixiedust:

There was no time to waste! I anxiously sit down at the kitchen table and get started on my paperwork..............

So first thing the next morning, I triple check my forms, get them notarized at work & get the pre-paid Fedex ready to go. Andy & I work together for the same construction company, me in the office & him in the field. So, since hes more mobile than I am, he says to me Ill just take it over to Fedex for you. He is super-responsible & totally capable (remember, he's Mr. Voice of Reason) :teacher:. However, instantly I revert the poor guy to 5-yr old status Drive carefully! Call me when you send it off! Make sure you get a receipt! Make sure they dont mess it up! Get a receipt ! Love you!

Yep, Im losing it. :sad2: But this is the most important piece of mail Ive sent off.. like ever! My Disney-loving life has completely come to a screeching halt since Monday!

I'm hoping the Fedex plane doesn't crash! Have you ever seen that Tom Hanks movie, 'Castaway'? I have this mental picture of my letter somehow ending up like that volleyball, washed up on some island shore in the middle of the ocean! :scared: (I think I have an overactive imagination.)

Because I'm obsessive (um, I mean excited), using my receipt I set up the online Fedex tracking on my envelope. They will email me as soon as it's delivered (or you know, as soon as it crashes in the ocean.)

12:53am Memphis, TN
5:56am Newark, NJ
7:48am New York, NY
8:22am DELIVERED

8:29am (7 minutes later!!!!!!) I get an email from New York ...

Congratulations! We have received your completed affidavit and are please to inform you that you have been confirmed as a Grand Prize Winner in the One More Disney Day Sweepstakes.

:hyper:

I was asked to choose & circle either WDW-FLORIDA or DL-CALIFORNIA , and confirm my contact info again. (which was definitely a good idea because my email address AND first name were both misspelled in all my original paperwork, which might have been why I had received no news pre-Fedex, as other people had? )

My prize was officially as follows:

A 5-day/4-night trip to Walt Disney World near Orlando, FL for me and 3 guests. Travel must be completed by 6/1/13. Dates are flexible, but some block out dates do apply. Prize consists of the following:

a) Hotel accomodations for four (including room tax)
b) Four (4) 5-day Magic Your Way Park Park Hopper tickets, including access to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom parks.
c) Round-trip coach air transportation
d) Airport-Hotel transfers
e) One (1) Disney gift card with a value of one thousand dollars ($1000)
f) Winner's choice of ONE of the four following enhancements (each valued at $500):
-A Disney Photo Pass package
-Select Disney Tours
-A Downtown Disney shopping spree
-Spa experience(s) of your choice.

:faint:

Amazing/Incredible/Magical. There are not enough adjectives to describe it. I immediately emailed this form back & was told they would forward my information to Disney, and then Id be contacted to fulfill my prize.

I was feeling so grateful, so lucky and so happy. :cloud9: I told all my friends and family to start entering contests, and told them where to find current lists of Disney sweepstakes online. You better believe I will be entering every Disney contest from here on out. Real people can win !!

So back to the Dis I go to check on the other winners, see if there are any new ones, and patiently wait until I am contacted to book our trip. Eventually all us Dis winners start to share our experiences, planning info and advice with each other via Facebook. (Our group is 19 of the 60 total winners). All this really added to the fun and excitement of the whole thing, plus it kept us all busy while we waited for Disney to contact us. The east-coasters could help us west-coasters, and vice versa. Everyone in the group are really great people (and Im not just saying that because youre all reading this.. you all ARE reading this, aren't you? hello? ::yes::) Anyways, obviously we all were already Disney fans, so it was easy to become fast friends. :grouphug:

As for my non-Disney family/friends.. well you know how that goes.. "Yes grandma, isn't it neat that Im becoming friends with other winners all around the United States? Well, yes... I know they're strangers on the Internet... Guess what, some of them might even meet in person during their trips, can you believe that? Yes grandma, strangers on from the Internet, meeting other strangers, and letting their kids play together! Isn't that fun? Oh, don't worry, I sent for a copy of the official winner's list & we'll confirm everyone's identites eventually... )

So where did I leave off...getting my official win confirmation & choosing my destination....

Now I wait for Disney to contact me. Each day that passed seemed like an eternity when you’re so excited & anxious for more details! It appeared as if they were waiting to contact all us February winners until after the sweepstakes ended, because ALL of us were still anxiously stalking our emails, looking for any sign of Disney as of early March.

Finally bright and early Monday , March 19 (about a month later) I received an email with the official Disney trip questionnaire.

With my official Disney letterhead in hand, Andy finally believes this is all real now & not some scam. The questionnaire I received is a few pages long. It asked for our guest info, our top 3 choices of trip dates and which general flight times we preferred. It indeed listed all the Deluxe resorts, and asked me to rank them in order of preference. We are given the opportunity to add on nights (at our expense). Add-on nights could be booked at any level of resort - Deluxe, Mod, or Value.

Of course we had already been going through the WDW website to try to decide on a resort. I was already way sold on the Poly. On our last (and only) trip to WDW in 2011, I wanted to stay there, but couldn‘t quite swing the pricetag.

On each of our Disney trips, I enjoy seeing how far into our trip it is before somebody already starts planning our “next trip”.. Usually it’s you know, like day 1. In 2011, we had a great stay at the Wilderness Lodge , but visited the Poly to eat dinner at Ohanas. Once Tyler saw that volcano pool, it was all over. He turned to us and said very seriously that we DEFINITELY were staying there “next time”. (this happened Day #2 - he was a little late:laughing:)

DS at the Poly (Jan '11)

However now when looking at the resorts online, Tyler fell in love with the photos of Stormalong Bay at the Beach/Yacht Club. We finally decide to request a split stay - 4 nights at Poly and 2 additional at the Beach Club. We could’ve stayed at the Poly for the whole trip, or saved money and transferred to a Mod, however, we decided we might as well take advantage of this amazing opportunity to try out more than one Deluxe, especially after I found out they were offering us great discounted rates on any nights we add on, :woohoo: , and they'd be "free" with our gift card anyway. We decided we should definitely take advantage of this opportunity to try out two different Deluxes, in two different parts of the World, so a split stay is what we would do.

We chose January for our travel dates, like our last trip to WDW. Many winners were taking their trips really soon -- I was definitely going to be in the minority waiting until winter, however we really prefer the low crowds during off-peak times and with both our busy jobs, January is the best month for us to take time off. :thumbsup2

I'm sure hoping at least part of those two days of our trip are decent weather because Tyler is SO looking forward to trying out Stormalong Bay. We always do our DL trips in the winter as well, and we always manage to swim, so I’m hoping for the best! :cool2:

Since there are only 3 of us (and the prize is for 4 travelers), we ponder the thought of bringing Andy’s 2 (teen) nephews with us. They don’t get to travel much & have never even flown on a plane before. We’d have to pay out of pocket for our fifth traveler, but that was okay with us. However, upon closer inspection of the rules, it says all minors must travel with legal guardians. Ruh Roh. :sad2: Not to mention, it also said you could potentially forfeit your whole prize if you violate any of the rules... Well, that sealed the deal for me!! Sorry kids! :confused3 Maybe we’ll have money on our gift cards left from this trip & we’ll drive you to DL next year !!

For our prize options, we choose the shopping spree, which is actually another gift card. So upon check in, we will receive $1500 total in gift cards. Not sure how much shopping we will actually end up doing. That money will primarily be going to dining & our 2 extra nights, so I'll have to see what's left...I'm used to doing Disney on a budget, so this will be a new experience for me for sure. However I do know that those Dooney’s that some other winners have splurged on sure look nice………..:rolleyes1

With all the tough decisions finally made, I email our questionaire back ..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/2012-03-23_13-23-34_395_zps2e67467d.jpg

So now I'm back to waiting patiently by my computer inbox again ... :surfweb:

Unfortunately a couple days later I got an email back saying that since I chose January for our trip, I will not be getting any further trip correspondence from them until “FALL”, because they will work on the winners’ trips with the closest dates first.

:scared1:

Oh, how completely agonizing it was to know that I had to wait from like April to “Fall”. This email was like a knife to my heart. Seriously, I wanted to cry…. :( Fall?? When is that anyways?? Waaay too general a description for my sanity to handle. They didn't even confirm my dates or anything.. major bummer!

Let the waiting game begin...

ARGGGHHH!!! With apologies to Tom Petty, the waiting is the hardest part!!!

It will be interesting to hear when they did start contacting you with concrete details. I certainly hope it was in time to make any dining reservations you wanted (or do they take care of that for you)?

I'm so glad you chose the Beach Club for part of your stay. I hope you find it to be everything I think it is! :lmao:

Temps have been nice and warm the past few days, I hope it continues that way for your trip!

I'm so excited for you. Are you doing the SDD yet? Loce the BC but beware if your there during EPCOTs fireworks you will hear it. SAB Love the round and round pool. If you have room pack an innertube. When we stayed there they charged for it,but if you can swim/float go with it. I loved to float on my back. As for waiting that long to hear back from them....AHHHHHH

It's funny, with all the months I've been anticipating, researching & planning this trip, it's like all of a sudden I'm all like, Is it really time for our trip?! I've really tried to keep myself from stalking the weather forecasts quite yet. :bitelip: On our last WDW trip they were calling for a TON of rain on every day of our trip , and I about made myself sick worrying about it before we left.. However I did hear here on the Dis somewhere that the weather has been extra nice there lately...so I was hoping that was true :worship: On our last trip we wore everything from shorts to coats with scarves, so our plan is to be prepared for anything & everything!!!

Ok, so I guess I missed your dates post somewhere along the line. Sounds like you leave the weekend of the 19th or something like that? Our trip will be the following weekend...arrival of Jan. 25th. I have been HOPING a waitlist will come through for Boardwalk so we can stay there, but I am not feeling too positive about that. We will most likely be staying at Old Key West instead.

I was thinking there was no WAY we'd be doing any swimming, but with the weather being so warm even here in MD lately, I'm thinking there's a very good chance for some very warm temps in Florida for our trip. The kids would LOVE to swim in January so we will definitley be packing the suits for them now.

Can't wait to hear more about the trip. It sounds so fabulous!!! :thumbsup2

Yes, we arrive on the 19th. Definintely pack suits! With the way the weather and temps can fluctuate, chances are your kids could get some pool time on at least one day! :cool2:

It's so nice because the pools aren't busy. On days that feel a little too chilly for ME to swim, DS might still swim & I love sitting in the sun with my "umbrella" drink watching him. :cloud9:

Thanks and I hope you have a wonderful trip as well! My kids have been swimming in November and December before...and even February! I don't think we've been swimming or our January trips but we've only had one of those back in 2006 and it was a pretty busy trip. This one is also SO short I'm just not sure we will want to take the time out for swimming...but you never know! :)

The weather in FL this time of year is awesome...I live in GA and sometimes I am amazed that we are really not that far away (450 miles)and it is so much nicer there. We are going into a big warm up here so it will probably be very warm in Orlando

Congrats on Winning the BIG Prize...I cannot wait to read about your trip!

While I'm now stuck waiting for "fall" to arrive, at least I had a bunch of other OMDD trips I could follow along with in "The Group". Andy was already long used to me saying "The Group says this". Or "Look at this - I saw it on the Group . Poor guy.. it was going to be a long wait until our trip arrives - only 9 months to go at this point!

When our ADR window arrived, that was a little tricky! Being a professional Disney over-planner already, I totally HAD to get our reservations made.. but that's obviously hard to do when I don't know where we're staying on which days! The in-park reservations were no problem, but there were quite a few resort restaurants we wanted & those were impossible to plan for. So, I decided to make a couple back-up reservations for the places I had my heart set on, and planned to cancel the ones we didn't need once we got our itinerary. I sure didn't want to end up with reservations at Ohana during the days we were staying at the Beach Club, or Cape May when we were at the Poly. ug. :sad2:

With all this being said, all of this is "ASSUMING" I am indeed getting our 1st choice of dates. If not, all my ADRs will be completely wrong. And dont get me started on my 3rd date choice, which was October! :scared1: The only reason Im halfway confident of my January dates at this point is because other OMDDers have all gotten their 1st picks. If I never had the Group, I think I would definitely be seriously worried at this point!

Over the last year, Andy and I have each lost approx. 45lbs :goodvibes, so we were a little hesitant to go crazy with too many big meals. However, with all the miles we'll be walking, I figure we will be okay eating all these extra calories, its vacation after all, right! :thumbsup2 Addionally, for the last couple months, every time we are tempted by a yummy treat or some kind of "naughty" dessert, our code word to each other is Stormalong Bay. Nothing like the thought of wearing bathing suits in public to help you turn down that tempting hot fudge sundae :lmao:

(Note: there was a little bit of a learning curve for poor Andy. At the beginning he kept saying Strumalong Bay. Come on, get it right guy! Don't be embarrassing me on this trip, now!)

Our restaurant list:
Ohana (twice because we love it so much!)
Kona
Napoli
Sci-Fi
Flame Tree
Chef Mickeys
Cape May (breakfast)

SO..... Thursday, Sept 6, I receive an email from Disney with our dates finally confirmed!:banana: Hallelujah! Its been hard the last couple months when friends and family ask about the trip , all I could say was havent heard anything, still waiting on Disney. :confused3 I dont know how many times I said that! Also, I had put in for my days off at work as "a maybe".

Unfortunately, this preliminary confirmation shows our entire stay being at the Poly only.
I wonder if there was no availability at the Beach Club or something? DS is definitely going to be disappointed.. :worried:.

I went back and forth between :

Hey, I should be happy! I got my #1 choice, I shouldnt just expect to get everything we asked for, we should be thankful for whatever they give us

to

Well, they obviously ask you where you want to stay for a reason, maybe it was an oversight...you wont know if you dont ask !

I decided to contact my Disney rep and find out. I had a really tough time reaching them, because the phone number and email are sort of general numbers to the prize department..

Press one if you're a winner and ON your vacation. Press two if you're a winner and leaving for your vacation in the next 14 days. Press three if you're just a plain ole' winner and have some crazy question or problem (or something like that :bitelip:)... So I press #3, and leave a nice, friendly message, which probably ends up being at the bottom of some huge pile of voicemails somewhere because my trip is 90-plus days out. I also tried emailing them a couple times.. with emails ranging from friendly questions with lots of smiley faces, to panicked pleading.

Nope, no response to either approach :badpc:

Through the Group, we had found out that the Disney department handling winners is made up of just a couple people.. Im thinking at first, what a fun job! However later Im quite sure their job might not be as magical as it seems --- with all of these overly excited, hyper, perky winners keep blowing up your phone and email all day long for never-ending questions and updates on each of their trips, ha. Im trying to be patient, but its freaking me out, especially since my ADRs are still up in the air.

Since I decided to go ahead and be picky, not only am I asking for those Beach Club nights, Im also requesting they be the first two nights of our trip, since those are the two days that were touring Epcot & HS! (If I'm going for it, I might as well go for it all! :thumbsup2)

Soooo its October now.... AND MY REP FINALLY CALLS ME!! She says shes glad I called, it was indeed an oversight. It was no problem to fix our reservation.. She said she was working on our file right now & is also sending our flight docs right out . Yay!!! I am super duper thrilled!!!

BUT.........Then a week passes, then 2 weeks, then a month, and NOTHING!!! No flight info, no confirmations, no emails... Did it get lost? Stop the madness!!!!

Will this trip ever be finalized????? Did she get our reservation changed????? Is this process affecting my long-term health?????

So... its November & I havent received my long-awaited paperwork. I've been diligently stalking my email/junk mail everyday for so long to make sure I dont miss anything important coming through from Disney... and nothing.. :surfweb:

It HAS to be lost - why would she say she was sending it out that day, and me not get it ??

I contact her again. She apologizes a lot & says all my stuff is still right there on her desk, she got super behind & never sent it out like she told me she was going to. :scared1: Pure torture!!!!!!!!!!!!! She said she would at least verbally confirm our trip to put my mind at ease (HA! - what mind? Ive long lost it by now :faint: )

She tells me she got us the Yacht Club for the first two nights , and the Poly for the remaining four nights, and yes, it is the January dates we wanted. YAYYYYYY! :worship:

She gave me the rate we will be charged for the two nights that we have to pay out-of-pocket for (aka w/ the gift card), and that number came out to be EXACTLY 40% off the rack rate for YC water view...40% is an amazing discount! :hyper: (After I relayed this conversation to Andy, he actually said, "geez, with that kind of discount, maybe we shouldve stayed ANOTHER night or two"... Oh SURE, now you suggest that! There is NO way I am calling her back and changing ANYTHING!!! :sad2::sad2: )

Before she & I hung up, she again promised she would REALLY send out all our Final Confirmation paperwork this time.
Darn those Disney employees - They're so perky & friendly, I'd fall for whatever she tells me every time! pixiedust:

She said it would come "no later" than 30 days prior to us leaving.. which the sound of that still made me nervous...

I immediately re-finalized all our ADRs and touring plans, and ordered our Photo Pass +.

Luckily for me and my sanity, on December 11th I receive my final paperwork via email --- five weeks before we leave!!! :bitelip: Everything was correct and complete. I was SO thrilled to finallllly know we were booked and everything was okay, and it was even better to see it officially on paper.. After all the worrying, wondering, hoping & waiting, I could go back to being just plain ol' EXCITED !

Cuz you know, this hammock has been calling my name for the last two years:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/doss_zps28ff9d5d.jpg

(me visiting the Poly & dreaming of staying there someday, in '11)

Our flights look good.. we are flying out bright and early the morning of Saturday, January 19th , so that'll get us there about 3pm Florida time. They gave us a late flight (7pm) on our last day so we can squeeze out every last Disney minute before we have to get on that sad Magical Express ride back to the airport. Our flights are with Airtran, with layovers in Atlanta. Tyler is excited about "officially" adding Georgia to his short list of states visited -- I say, does it really count? :scratchin You won't even SEE it, we'll only be there for maybe 30min.. Well, he said if you're there long enough to go to the bathroom, it counts. Hmm, okay, whatever you say. :rotfl2:

Since I haven't flown that much, we really examined our flight documents to figure out all the details.. Since we didn't buy our tickets ourselves, we weren't really sure what Disney had gotten us. I was pretty worried about how the seating would work, especially after another winner had slightly stressful seating experience.. Luckily, I was able to secure us seats together, by paying $36 total out of pocket... Money well spent! :thumbsup2

I think our trip will be just about the right amount of days for us (seven).. we'll have our five park days, plus lots of time on our 2 travel days for exploring hotels, mini golf, shopping, swimming or whatever. I tried to talk the boys into doing something crazy and fun, something we wouldnt normally do .. like parasailing, or the Characters in Flight balloon, or the Wild Africa Trek at AK. This is a once in a lifetime trip - come on, we should go all out!! ::yes:: They opted out.. Pretty sure they think Im crazy. Party Poopers!

4 days later, I receive our Magical Express documents in the mail !!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/disdis_zps538d936c.jpg

Isn't Mickey mail the BEST mail ?! I am SO relieved that the FINAL piece of the puzzle has now arrived & our trip is finally all set. What a relief!!! :faint:

With approx. 300 days of anticipating & researching things for our trip, for some reason I now feel like I lost all my common sense. How many pairs of pants do we pack? What's the airline rules on stuff you can and cannot pack these days? Is 25 minutes going to be long enough for our layover? On to packing the suitcases......

I've been more of a lurker than a poster but I had to say how much I am enjoying your TR. This has got to be the thrill of a lifetime to win a trip to Disney! I can't wait to read more and I totally understand your anxiety when you had not heard from the folks at Disney. You have much more patience than I would have had. I think I would have been calling every other day!

One of the "groupies" started a pre-TR over the summer, but never completed anything afterwards. However, you can at least read about her win here:

I'm sure this week will go by fast for us -- We've been really busy lately with a backyard project going on at home, plus work has been a little crazy with trying to prepare my co-workers to cover for me. This trip and my previous WDW trip are the only times I've taken a whole week off work in the last 10+ years, so thank goodness for Disney!! :rotfl: I'm feeling like everything this week is going to be in fast-forward mode!

I hope you get your info quickly after your sweepstakes ends & you don't get stuck in eternal wait-around-mode like me!! I'm excited for you! I hope more winners come forward around here to share in your excitement & planning! :hyper:

What a great pre trip report. I wish I'd done one too. Maybe someday, I will do a post trip report.

Have an awesome time on your trip.

I totally forgot to tell you when the kids and I were in LV over Christmas break. I was so busy going to the quilt store, I forgot to try to meet up with you.

Hi Debby! I'm having so much fun with this trip report, but they are a lot of work!! No doubt if you ever wrote one, I'm sure it would be great because you're always making all of us laugh! :)

Aw, thanks for thinking of me ( even if it was afterwards ) for when you were in town :) Christmas-time is totally hectic & crazy, so I totally understand. :) I hope you guys had a nice time visiting your family!

WHEW! Now *I* feel so much better about your trip! Thanks for the update! :)

So great to have those tickets in hand and everything settled. I'm sorry you could not convince your family to try something adventurous! That would have been great.

Good luck in the packing. I think over the weekend I'll be doing some packing myself. We are trying our best to surprise our kids with this next trip which means I need to pack up their stuff for them without them knowing about it! I sure hope we can pull it off! ;)

Wow! I can't believe you are less than a week away! I am so happy for you.

I have to tell you, reading your update, I pictured your friendly, peppy prize rep covering the mouthpiece of her phone and whispering to her coworker...

"Watch this! I'm going to torture my One More Disney Day Winner. I'm going to tell her the paperwork is coming and then 'forget' to mail it! This is going to be so much fun"

This has been a great pretrip report and I can't wait for the whole thing.

Wishing you safe and easy travel!

BTW- there are rumblings that Hurricane Hanna's may be reopening this week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I think my family might not completely trust my judgment on adventures & such because they know ANYTHING at Disney ALWAYS sounds like a good idea to me! On our last trip, I , ummm, "forgot" to tell them that "fun Aerosmith ride" went upside down, LOL!! So after we got off, even though they loved it, they couldn't believe I did that to them... heh heh!! They know I like surprising them like that. Hey, I can't help it if they didn't do their OWN wdw research!!!!!! :stir: So fast forward to me trying to talk them into the AK wild trek tour, with its "fun" bridges & "close up" animals.. well they DID look it up on the web, saw those suspension bridges & said NO WAY. What chickens!! LOL. Well, at least they're learning to appreciate research.

Putting together a surprise trip sounds like so much fun! I'm sure those can be difficult to pull off - - with trying to be secretive with the preparations to keeping in all your excitement under wraps!! Good luck! :goodvibes

LOL. That is hilarious about the Rep! That just might be what happened! I often wondered what exactly their job would be like.... They SURELY have to know how much "power" they hold over all of us hanging onto their every move :rotfl: !!!!

A while back, to help pass the time waiting for my Disney info and as an outlet for all my built-up excitement, I started buying some scrapbook supplies for our upcoming trip.

Then I went one step further & actually finished the first page or 2 of my (future) scrapbook for our trip - - which is telling the story Ive just told you.

So.. in other news, I finally had to break it to DS about the slide at SAB being down for refurbishment during our trip. They are allowing guests to use the pool at the Boardwalk, so I brought up photos of it on the computer so we could see what that slide was like I thought the slide looked great, but his reaction was "So its a giant clown, and you come out of its mouth?" I guess clowns arent for everybody... Not sure if it's worth a trip over there to try out that slide.. Anybody?

Not sure how much swimming well really get in anyways... thatll be up to Mother Nature. Andy told me to stop checking the weather becuase "it is what it is". I'm thinking ANY kind of Florida weather sounds great to us right now weve been having a very unusual cold snap here, it was 25 degrees this morning with a high only in the 30's, and all us desert-dwellers are barely surviving! :rotfl: Hard to believe we might be hanging out in our swimsuits in a matter of days. :cool2:

Im hoping to try to post a few LIVE photos here while we're gone, and then of course I'll be sharing our trip here when we get back!

It's worth going over to try it out. DD 10 absolutely loves that clown slide. We split our last stay between the BW and AKV and while we prefer AKV overall, the BW pool slide was better, she kept saying. Then entrance to the slide is fairly convenient to the exit, so it's easy to keep going up and coming back down. A lot of the slides have the entrance not very near the exit (like Kidani) and it seems like a lot of work to go down again and again. Not so with the BW slide.

Also, try to find an hour to head over and watch the entertainers on the Boardwalk one evening. They're great!

Thanks for the info on the slide!! :thumbsup2 Visiting the Boardwalk as well as the pool would make a trip over there definitely worthwhile. We very briefly checked out the Boardwalk on our last trip, but there wasn't much going on out there for some reason. Maybe we were too late & missed the entertainers?

LOVE the scrapbooks! They look great! I have yet to do one with our last few trips. I'm so far behind!

I haven't looked at the weather either but all I keep thinking is it might be in the 30s and 40s here in Maryland but that means 60s in Florida! At least walking around all day it will be nice weather, though we may be chilly in the mornings. I'm mostly packing lots of layers and the swimsuits JUST IN CASE but honestly don't see that happening!

I have no recollection of the Boardwalk slide and sorry that the SAB one will be closed because we HAVE done that one and it's great! Honestly I think the one at AK Kidani is MUCH better than the others though not as long as SAB. I think the only time my kids were in the Boardwalk pool they were very small and all I remember is putting my daughter (14 months) in the pool at the time WITH HER TENNIS SHOES ON HER! Yeah I must have been overly tired on that day! :rotfl2:

Live updates sound great. I always try to do that for our trips but find I'm so caught up in vacation that I forget. I try to so some Twitter updates but I was even bad about that last trip. My goal is to do better this trip on Twitter so I can at least reference it later in a much better trip report! :)

LOL. That is funny about your DD at the pool!! :rotfl: I'll probably start having those kind of moments around maybe day #4 or 5!! I had to go look up the AKL pool online since a couple of you guys have mentioned it here now... I'm thinking we're going to have to save a little time to go over to AKL just to walk around & check it out, the whole place looks so beautiful online!

We're packing a lot of layers too. 60's or 70's will be perfect. I'm just hoping for anything but a bunch of rain. I can handle rain & it doesn't ruin our time, however on our last trip we got SO much that it definitely slowed us down & we didn't even get to half of EPCOT.

While I usually stay mostly "unplugged" during our times in the parks, I always have some time in the room where I blog or do some updates while I'm (anxiously!) waiting for the boys to get up & ready... You'd think the BOYS would be waiting on the GIRL getting ready in the mornings!! :sad2: I'm so photography obsessed that even if I don't write anything down, I can just go through my photos & chronologically recall everything for my TR that way.

You'd think the BOYS would be waiting on the GIRL getting ready in the mornings!! :sad2: I'm so photography obsessed that even if I don't write anything down, I can just go through my photos & chronologically recall everything for my TR that way.

Congratulations on your win!!! You must be so happy right now, all the planning and waiting is behind you and you are finally there!!!! :cheer2:

Today is my one year mark. I will once again be at WDW on Jan 18th, 2014 and I can't wait. Just 365 days to go.

I am also a crazy picture taker. My DH calls me paparazzi!! Between my mom, brother, husband and myself we took over 1300 pictures when we were in Disney in 2011. I plan to take that many all by myself next time. I actually make lists of pictures I want to take. :rotfl2:

So happy to find your TR and looking forward to reading what it is like in Jan at WDW. We have always gone in Sept/Oct so this will be the first "winter" trip for us.

As many of you know, the transition back to the real world after a Disney trip is usually a little rough! Ours was particularly rough, with a not-so-fun plane ride & not exactly the most magical set of circumstances on our return home. However I guess Im getting ahead of myself ...

Ill start with the beginning: Day One - Our Arrival !

Welcome to my official One More Disney Day trip report!

I didnt sleep much that night (not like it much mattered, since my alarm was set to go off at 3am to get ready to leave for the airport).

My mind was definitely Disney-fried. I had been having so many Disney nightmares the last couple nights before we left.. :scared:

First I dreamt we tried to fly out on the wrong day.

Then I dreamt we got all the way there, went to check in and they didnt have our reservation anywhere.

I think definitely need a vacation!! :crazy2:

So our plane was scheduled to leave Vegas at 6am, and we would be switching planes in Atlanta. The flights were pretty uneventful, however during the last leg Tyler decides he has a bad tummy ache & is hunched over of course right during the buckle your seatbelts and dont get up portion of our flight. Theres not much to do in a situation like that, but thankfully we were only in the air 1 hour for that one & we manage to pull him through it. phew! :worship:

(Note to my Future Self - if you thought that was stressful, puleeze! just wait until the return flight&.)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1699_zps2d8c7566.jpg

Our flights made great time & we somehow arrived a little ahead of schedule! :hyper: We arrive at the Magical Express area & wait no more than 2 minutes (love Magical Express) ! Looks like luck is still on our side...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1702_zps7aecc199.jpg

The weather is pretty nice - it's cloudy, but temps are in the mid-70's. We arrive at the Yacht Club around 2:30. Beautiful. Everyone in the lobby is really helpful & friendly.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1799copy2_zpsfc28f03e.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1977copy_zpsaab9a118.jpg

We go to check in & Im so happy to see that me and my reservation indeed exist in the computer! They say they I have a package waiting for me & they go to retrieve it.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1735_zpsd14a6ba8.jpg

I open up our package: It contains our two gift cards & Our four 5-day park hoppers. We are so glad everything seems to be going just as planned.

We will be staying here at the YC for two nights, before switching to the Poly. CM says we are getting a first floor water view room.. First floor? I think that sounds great! :wizard: We get our park tickets added to our KTTW cards & then head over to check out our room....

Our room #1081 was really close to the lobby & because we had a first floor room, it was really nice to not have to deal with any elevators or stairs. This room was in a great location!!

This view is just wonderful!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_2004copy_zpsbada43f1.jpg

We found a handy entry/exit door just at the end of our hallway, which was very convenient coming and going.

We were starving, so we head out in search of some lunch...

We set out for our very first lunch at Beaches and Cream.

On the way we briefly checked out what Tylers been looking forward to for so long-- Stormalong Bay !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1751copy_zpsa34f9598.jpg

Upon arriving at B&C, we are seated up front at the counter. Tyler really loved watching them assemble all those crazy Kitchen Sinks. We had a really great waiter, Brian. He was so funny! When he asked where we were from, and we said Vegas, he got this far-away twinkly look in his eye Ah, Vegas, I was just there last summer..

He said Vegas is a popular vacation spot for many CMs, so they can get a break from all the magicalness - and head to the exact opposite kind of place for some adult time. Something about Disney life not always being all rainbows and unicorns all the time. He was totally cracking us up!!! As our trip went on, we often got that same exact Vegas reaction from quite a few CMs.. ha ha :rotfl:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1757copy_zps010c0510.jpg

After our meal, we explored the resort a little on the way over to take the bridge across to the Boardwalk.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1794_zps46c082e6.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1764_zps15b4719f.jpg

At the Boardwalk, we watched a couple of the street performers, which were great. Tyler loved the magicians.

Despite only about 3 hours of sleep, Im still feeling pretty good - Im still wound up on Disney excitement!! Tyler, on the other hand is exhausted & not feeling my sense of adventure for tonight, so we return to the room. He is out in no time flat.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr/DSC_1771copy_zps99ed3c5c.jpg

Sleeping? Theres not sleeping in Disneyworld!! :confused3

This is when I really appreciated having that first floor patio... While he was sleeping I wandered around right outside our room, took a few more photos, and then just sat for a bit watching the world go by, before finally going to bed to get rested up for our first day in the parks!!

I'm so excited to hear about your report! I keep playing this current contest in hopes of getting a free trip since I can't go on one that I have to pay for this year, so I'll just have to live vicariously through you.

Incidentally, DH and I got back from Vegas last week, and we did NOT win any money for me to put in my Disney fund:(, but we did have a great relaxing time:)

The Yacht club looks beautiful, and I love the first floor room, I'll have to remember that if I ever get there (Yacht club and AKL are on top of my list, if I ever get to go deluxe).

So here we are on the first morning of our trip.. We get up bright & early and are ready to hit the.......FOOD. Ha!! You thought I was going to say 'PARKS', didn't you? ::yes::

With all my Disney knowledge I’ve acquired, we should be at rope drop to jump on the recommended fast pass/busy morning strategy to avoid the crowds. However, we had already pre-decided to not go crazy on the first morning for a few different reasons…

1- I knew we’d be trying to adjust to the 3-hour time change.
2- We had park hoppers, so I figured we’d just come back to whatever we don’t get to on another (less busy?) day.
3- We wanted to get in some swim-time at Stormalong Bay today before we switch resorts.

So we head out of our room to breakfast at Cape May...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1978copy_zps76d9e077.jpg

Before we go to breakfast, let me mention that during our trip we tried to take some quick videos that we emailed daily to my grandma back home, so she could see what we were up to day by day. I thought it would be fun to share them here as well! I enjoyed torturing DS, making him be the "reporter" in front of the camera. It actually wasn't torture - after this first video, he started loosening up a little & having fun with it. ha ha.

Here it is: Day Two Video (http://youtu.be/kznnT4hQ53Y)

So anyways, on to Cape May. We REALLY loved it there. The characters in their cute beach outfits were a lot of fun.

Also, I think we had the perkiest waitress in all of Disney. I swear, she was the absolute epitome of morning Disney cheerfulness!! She was REALLY happy to be there.... I enjoyed it! But the boys thought she was downright crazy.. LOL. Food was great - Loved all the fresh fruit, mickey waffles with strawberries & whipped cream , oh, and that French toast bread pudding… drool.....:faint:

After breakfast, we head for the boat dock. On the way, Tyler checks out Stormalong Bay, which we have planned for later this afternoon!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1804copy_zps5e872163.jpg

can't wait !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1805copy_zpsb3abf6ce.jpg

We ride the boat over to Hollywood Studios, which was our best bet according to our crowd calendars.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1821copy_zpsd9696bc6.jpg

Upon arrival, crowds were pretty bad. Some other travelers inside mentioned to us that it was “Christmas crazy” in there. Eek!! Really? CHRISTMAS? I sure hope it’s not THAT bad, I've only read about those kinds of horrible things on the internet!

We know it's Sunday on MLK holiday weekend… We know this was going to be our worst day for crowds, but we sure were hoping to still be fairly productive in the parks. On our first/last trip to WDW in 2011, we stayed on the exact same weekend, and it sure was a LOT less busy back then.. a LOT.

We chose this time of the year because our work schedules are much slower. We chose this week because DS would only be missing 4 days of school instead of 5 & it was the first week of his new quarter, and the first day after his semester exams, so he wouldn’t be missing any urgent testing or anything.. It’s that age-old debate of whether kids should be taken out of school or not… I put a lot of thought into it. Luckily DS does really well in school & has straight A’s. Also luckily our school allows for you to arrange for absences in advance and we were able to get a little work ahead of time, as well as download some of his work off the internet when we got back so he could work on it before he returns to school the following Monday.

Anyways, back to the crowds..... Let me fast forward a tiny bit & quote you a post from “easywdw.com” on Tuesday, 1/22, which sums it up for you:

"Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend was significantly busier than Disney was expecting, to the point where more people passed through Magic Kingdom’s turnstiles by 10:40am (Monday) than they were expecting for the entire day. Peak waits were: Dumbo: 110 minutes; Jungle Cruise: 90; Space Mountain: 140; Big Thunder: 120; Barnstormer: 70; Peter Pan’s Flight Pan: 90, Pooh: 75; Journey of the Little Mermaid: 120; Enchanted Tales with Belle: 70. Disney extended the close at Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom on Saturday on the day of. They extended the close at Magic Kingdom on Sunday and (Tuesday) as well. Crowds at all four Parks have been thousands higher than expected each of the last four days. Blame the College Program, South American tour groups, and the holiday. Things should die down by Thursday as we move into what is historically one of the least crowded weeks of the year. This past December was the busiest on record. January is looking to be the same."

Ugh. :headache:

Well, we decided to just go with the flow today & get some of the less-popular-and-easy-to-get-on rides out of the way first & then try for the big rides first thing tomorrow (Thank goodness we had park hopper tickets).

Actually it was probably a good thing that we couldn’t get on Tower of Terror or RnR Coaster first thing like Tyler wanted anyways, because I’m pretty sure those rides + breakfast buffets may not be the best combination !!! :crazy2:

We did American Idol, the Backlot Tour, the Movie Ride, & a couple more little things, then had a great late lunch at Sci Fi.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1875_zps791617d9.jpg

For lunch, I had a chicken caesar salad, DS had buffalo popcorn chicken (but hold the buffalo) and a shake, and DBF had a burger. Oh, and we also shared some fried pickles, which were pretty yummy!

We remembered to have DS sit in the “drivers seat” , so he could be harassed by the waiter.
After we ate, DS was presented with his “speeding ticket” that he was supposed to pay.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1887_zps32352137.jpg

Lucky for him all our Disney prize gift cards got him off the hook this time!! :thumbsup2

It was now time to bail on all the crowds & return to the YC for some Stormalong Bay !!

After seeing a couple fun videos on YouTube that kids had recorded of themselves going down pool slides at Disney, I recently bought a waterproof camera case for DS’s point & shoot camera, so we could take it to the pool with us. It worked great because I could still continue my photography obsession without having to lug around my big DSLR camera & DS had a ton of fun taking photos & videos with it in the water... and UNDER the water!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSCN0385copy_zpsdd340dc1.jpg

(If anyone’s interested, we got it on Amazon, look for “Polaroid Dive-Rated Waterproof Camera Housing”.)

After our swim time, we walked over to Epcot to find some dinner & hopefully watch Illuminations for the first time… The walk over to the International Gateway from the resort was nice, not too far at all.

Before dinner, we wandered around a little..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1951_zps11fc018b.jpg

I love the Seas area..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1940copy_zpsfe3b40b5.jpg

more wandering..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1918_zpsfd9102a6.jpg

I also managed to treat DS to his first “Beverly”! heh heh. I’m bad, I know.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1952_zps8b33e61a.jpg

A bit later, we timed it right to be finishing up our dinner at La Cantina de San Angel, just in time for Illuminations. We were eating in the outside little patio that sits out on the water. However, just as soon as the show was about to start, like a hundred people rushed in & crowded around our table, trying to stand at the railing, so there went our view . Oh well, it seemed like a good idea at the time! We stood up & managed to get a sliver of a view to the side.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1959_zps10b82fbf.jpg

Afterwards we returned to the YC, grabbed a couple ice cream cones at the Beaches and Cream take-out window, and realized just how dangerous it was to be staying in a hotel with an ice cream parlor onsite & a gift card burning a hole in our pocket!! (thank goodness calories don’t count on vacation.)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%20-%20day%202/DSC_1969copy_zps868ee720.jpg

I'll include a few thoughts on the resort here… After exploring both the Beach Club & Yacht Club, we decided we preferred the YC’s theming to the BC. However the only downfall is that you have to walk over to the BC for everything. DBF really would’ve loved it if we had a closer mug station & if the Marketplace was a little easier to get to from our side. I’m sure if Hurricane Hanna’s was up & running during our trip that would’ve been a real big plus though, too.

Since we live in the desert, we really enjoy the Disney resorts on the water, and love taking those boat rides as much as we can. Transportation was great here. The nice walking paths were quite nice as well.

Stormalong Bay was awesome & we were glad we had nice weather so we could swim. We really enjoyed exploring all the different areas of SAB - the waterfalls, lazy river, the sand bottom.

I would definitely recommend the YC, as long as you don't mind the Marketplace & mug options being a bit more out of the way than if you stayed at the BC. Lastly, I found the CM's at this resort to be really quite outstanding.. great service in the lobby & everywhere else.

So.... maybe while we didn’t get a TON of things accomplished in the parks today, we definitely had a full, fun day. Off to bed !

No matter how much or how little you do a day in Disney is always great. Nice and easy first day. Smart move to get adjusted to the time difference. Wish my meeting would fly us into Vegas the day before. Nope going to try to stay awake.

Yay, a trip report by one of the winners! Do you know if any other winners did TR? I'd love to read them all!

We were at Beach Club a couple of weeks before you. Those resorts are gorgeous! You really lucked out with a first floor room!

Hope you enjoyed your stay at the Beach Club! They sure are gorgeous resorts!! I'm the only one one in our winner's "group" (which is approx. 1/3 of ALL the OMDD winners) who has done a TR. (the pressures on me now! :rotfl:) One other winner started a Pre-TR, but never finished an actual TR.

Thanks for reading along!

I want to start with Congrats on winning your trip! I just found your TR a couple hours ago and like a good book couldn't put it down. Well okay I had to so I could make dinner. My family ...Myself, my dear husband, dear daughter (20) and her dear boyfriend (21) were there Jan. 7-14, 2013 at CBR. Dh and I took a trip over to the Boardwalk to see everything there and it was absolutely beautiful. How many photos did you actually end up taking? I also love photography. I took 1500 photos on our trip and DD took more than me. My DD and I also scrapbook. Looking forward to the rest of your trip report. Thank you for sharing it with us.

So today we were already going to be checking out of the Yacht Club and moving over to the Poly.

While I'm so excited to stay at the Poly, I've sure enjoyed this room at the Yacht Club. We packed up our stuff and gave our bags to Bell Services to switch over to the Poly. We'd never done a split-stay before, but it was super easy. They marked all the bags with our new hotel's info while we were standing there and then off we were. No worries. All the CMs we dealt with at the YC really stood out to me as professional and "on it".

Goodbye Yacht Club!

Here's our little Day Three Video (http://youtu.be/ejCfkL6-9fI).

We head to the dock to ride the boat to Hollywood Studios bright & early.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_1987copy_zps7cd904ca.jpg

It's looking a little stormy.....

We are on the boat and it starts raining !! Wouldn't you know it.. Our 20% chance of rain today just turned into 100% chance! AND our umbrellas and ponchos are in our luggage, which are somewhere on their way to the Poly, so we won't be seeing them until after 3pm.. Hope the rain doesn't last long!!

Luckily it's just sprinkling. We get in the park right at opening and got on Toy Story right away. It was great, as always. As we were walking towards Tower of Terror, a couple of people who were walking past us offered us three fast passes for Rock & Roller Coaster , score! That was great, since the wait time for that ride was already 30min +. What luck! Speaking of luck, the rain looks like it's finally letting up & going away.. yay!

I love the inside of ToT.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/DSC_2050_zpsd9fd574f.jpg

This is the one ride out of all of WDW that still freaks me out a little.. the free fall is just so crazy! As you can see in the photo below, I think I spend most of the ride with my eyes closed! Ha Ha.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/tower_zps2ecda6b8.jpg

Then, on to RnR Coaster..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/rock1_zpsc2bd3196.jpg

(sidenote - We had pre-purchased the PhotoPass+.. I'll write more about it later..)

So, at this point I'm feeling pretty good about surviving the two craziest rides at WDW & having them under my belt so early in the trip. On to calmer activities now... we watched the American Idol show again. That host, Cameron, was just TOO hilarious. The boys kept quoting some of his funny lines all day.

Afterwards we did the Animation Academy (one of my favorites). Our class drew Jiminy Cricket.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/DSC_2061_zps8bdeb333.jpg

At 3pm, we could check into our room over at the Polynesian, so we took the Monorail over there. I was REALLY excited.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_00632_zps32fa4507.jpg

I was so happy to be walking through the Poly grounds again.. So green and lush and gorgeous.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2154copy_zpse7ffbbb0.jpg

It was just as beautiful as I remembered when we explored it on our 2011 trip. So many pretty plants and flowers everwhere. I am a plant-lover.. and I quickly noticed two of the plants that were everywhere on the grounds were the same two favorites of mine that I have growing at home!! Coincidence? Yeah, I think not! Me and the Poly are obviously meant to be!!!

Look at the size of these hibiscus'. They were like 8ft. tall.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2369_zps1668b3cb.jpg

We go inside the lobby to get checked in..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_0965_zps7f7597f8.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2279_zpsa93f314d.jpg

The CM helping us told us we were getting a 2nd floor, no balcony room in the Aotearoa, which was all the way at the other side of the resort....

This was my dream resort and I was SOOOO super happy to be staying here, but I suddenly wished I didnt know that previous winners had gotten Tahiti theme park view, which was right up front on the beach& I was trying not to be disappointed, but I knew deep down inside my hopes had indeed already been set on an amazing room location like that...

I'm not the outspoken type, but DBF knew I was disappointed , and mentioned to our CM that I "had been REALLY hoping for Tahiti like other winners had gotten, but we were sure wherever this was would be nice too". Ha Ha. (Smooth, babe, thanks for trying!). She just smiled, nodded and didnt even look up from the computer. waah. :(

She then proceeded to ask me how Id be paying for the $1500+ that was due. Huh?! This is when our check-in turned into a mess. I told her about my prize and that my reservation should be have a zero balance. She shakes her head no, and I started to stress... I sure hope this all gets straightened out! I brought a bunch of our official prize paperwork just in case something weird happened, but of course it was in our luggage, wherever that was.

I noticed that our CM's nametag noted that she was "Earning her Ears" , so while she was really nice, she seemed to be pretty new with her computer.. and perhaps her whole job... LOL. Maybe that was what the problem was.. After she went to get a manager, and them making a few phonecalls together, she told me they think they got the charges fixed. We were standing up there for a loooong time during this whole process.. However, THEN the confusion started between the two of them about our room & whether it was the view we were supposed to have. (According to our paperwork, our prize was supposed to be at least Lagoon view).

Insert major Pixie Dust here.. She said, This is such a mess, let me make another phonecall -- would you like to trade your room if I could get an opening in Tahiti?

UM, YES!!

She covered the phone receiver, and asked us, We actually DO have an opening in Tahiti. It's a first floor room, do you really want to trade for sure?

Is she really really asking me this?

UM, Let me think.. YES YES YES!!!!!

While we waited for her to finish the arrangements, I quickly jumped on Tikiman's (the Poly expert) website on my cell phone. (Hey, Im no dummy!) With all this confusion, I wanted to look up this second tentative room number to see if we were really getting what we (or she!) thought we were getting!

Everything was supposed to be handled at this point, so we went next door to the Bell desk to check on our luggage transfer from the YC. He said our bags were indeed there & he would deliver them to our room. He asked if we were heading there now, because if so, he could give us a ride since he was going there anyway! Okay! So we head out front & he seats us in a golf cart & goes to load up our luggage.. I am SO excited. Andy laughs at me, "what's so special about a golf cart?" I'm all like, "this is just SO cool!" So our driver asks us if we had ever stayed there before. We say no and he offers us to give us a tour of the whole place. Awesome! I figured with all the construction & the Hawaii building being out of commission, perhaps some of these CMs have some time on their hands since there are no CL guests to chauffer around? Whatever the reason, I thought this was the best thing EVER.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2081_zps1399f093.jpg

Our guide was really great, and he drove us all around, showing us the pools, the marina, the bus stop, and then finally to our longhouse.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2151_zpse98d4116.jpg

He walked us to our room #1020, and opened up the door. I see a giant towel mickey!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2144_zps0c7fbd09.jpg

I couldn't believe my eyes... my teary eyes. Disney, you're making me cry! This was AMAZING !!! :wizard:

The room felt so big & spacious.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr-3/DSC_2088copy_zps070ef63e.jpg

Tyler's reaction: Theres so much room around the toilet! That's it? That's all you have to say about this room? The toilet?!?! (He was bugged by the bathroom door that just barely cleared the toilet at the YC).

I took like a zillion photos and walked around our patio area and the beach.

The boys were soon ready to head out & spend some more time at Epcot.. WHAT ?! Leave this hotel room?! I dont want to leave this place!!

Like EVER...

Im going to live here FOREVER !! :cloud9:

Were the crowds really great last week??

For the most part! There were a few times waits were ridiculous (40 minutes for Haunted Mansion??), but mostly waits were 20 minutes or less. There were more tour groups than I was expecting (and not just the Brazilians - seemed to be a lot of school groups too).

Ha, My family (except for my kids, of course) often tell me there should be a Help group for me, regarding my love (or obsession as they see it) for Disney. Though my dh, as much as he protests, he supports it by everytime there is a holiday/birthday, I get a new Disney planning book.

So.. the boys were indeed able to talk me into leaving my beloved Poly room.

We walked over to the Ticket & Transportation Center to catch the monorail to Epcot. (Loved the closeness of the Tahiti longhouse to the TTC!)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2158_zps93856b89.jpg

Here we are at Epcot !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/PhotoPass/Photo0026FourBySix_zps3a8452ca.jpg

We were really starting to enjoy having our Photopass+ , which I had pre-purchased before our trip. I don't know if it was because it was the one thing that I paid for out-of-pocket or what, but the boys were definitely more on-board with seeking out Photopass photographers on this trip. (yay!) We soon discovered that there is certainly a wide range of various personalities and creativity among photographers, so my advice is to not be afraid to seek out the fun ones!

We got one particular one who was quite hilarious (or perhaps un-hilarious, depending on your perspective).. We walked up to him and handed him our Photopass+ card. I say, "Hi there, Can we do some kind of fun photo?" His response (in kind of a deep mobster-type accent) was "What? Ya want a Tinkerbell or sumthin'? I'm probably the most uncreative person in this park." Really? Did he actually just say that out loud?! DBF piped up with something about the "happiest place on earth" and then DS started repeating that Tinkerbell line over and over the rest of the day. Ha ha. You sure do experience a lot of interesting people at WDW. :rotfl:

Speaking of "interesting people", what about the one crazy guy who boarded a completely full bus we were on. He (immediately upon boarding) started loudly badmouthing all the "so-called gentlemen" (his words!) on the bus who didn't immediately get up & offer him, his wife, and their 3 kids their seats.

OMG!

I saw tons of people (including us) give up their seats on busses or monorails to moms/babies/kids, but sometimes when it's a really packed bus, there's not much you can do, especially to find them 5 seats? If you're that hateful on Disney's "free" transportation system, I'd recommend renting a car! Okay, I'm off my soapbox now! How did I get on THAT subject - sorry!!! I just love Disney so much, I could never imagine being that psycho while on vacation!! PHEW!

Anyways, back to photo-taking, so here we are in front of Epcot & luckily we found a really fun photographer, so we ended up with quite a few cute photos .. Yay!!!

Inside Epcot, DS signed up for an Agent P mission, which he ended up really enjoying. If we had more time, he would've done it more than once.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2188_zps58ea1ce7.jpg

He chose the United Kingdom pavilion for his mission.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2208_zps69872582.jpg

The clues and surprises are really so clever!! This appears to be just an ordinary light......:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2204_zpsa6021a7e.jpg

Nope, it's a clue !!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2203_zpsb8615f3e.jpg

Disney is so cool. :cool2:

After the mission, we only had time to explore a few countries (United Kingdom, Morocco, France and Japan), then it was time to return to the Poly for our dinner reservation at our all -time favorite resaurant, 'OHANA!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2230_zpsd470a74f.jpg

Goodbye Epcot, we'll be back !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2252_zps587956f1.jpg

Back at the Poly, we had time to watch the fireworks from our room before dinner...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2278_zpsc12e53c8.jpg

what a view !!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2267_zpscfae0f6e.jpg

We were so excited to eat again at 'Ohana. Hands down, our favorite meal at WDW.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2285_zpse195b80a.jpg

we were in full-tropical mode! : )

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2293copy_zps2558aa4f.jpg

We were seated right by the fire-pit, which was nice for me because it was toasty warm over there & I'm always cold..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2302_zpsa87583a0.jpg

Our meal was soooo good. We loved everything.

DS for some reason is obsessed with the pot-stickers. He asked if we could have a few more & our waiter brought us seriously the HUGEST platter with WAY too many on it. DS's eyes about popped out of his head.. He was thrilled, ha ha!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2315_zpsfe0c4925.jpg

We tried not to stuff ourselves too full, because we knew what was still to come.....

Normally we don't go ga-ga over desserts all that often, but this thing is absolutely AMAZING !!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_2317_zps89944244.jpg

As much as we love this restaurant, we know if we had one closer to home we'd be in big trouble !!!!

After we rolled ourselves out of there, we enjoyed a leisurely walk back to our room..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_0259_zps8d319158.jpg

I wish I could capture the beauty of the Poly grounds at night on my camera, but I just couldn't pull it off.. I really loved walking down all the tiki torch-lined paths.. Heaven!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/tr3-2/DSC_0696_zps5e908487.jpg

DBF loves to give me a hard time about my Disney obsessions.. We are currently in the beginning stages of landscaping the backyard of our house, and as we were walking back to our longhouse, DBF asked me "So, if I can somehow figure out a way to transform our backyard into 'THIS' , does that mean I don't have to be drug all the way across the country to this place anymore?" He is so rotten!!! But hey, a Poly-themed backyard... um, yeah I can deal with that! All we need are some tiki-torches, some water and a........ volcano! --- How hard could that be!? LOL!!!! I think he better watch what he jokes about !!!

Anyways, we return to our room, and are happy to relax into bed. This has been such a great day!!

Great pictures. Have never walked the grounds at night unless it was going back to a room. Looks like I'm missing a lot. Koodos to the PP seems like he was fun. Man on the bus, ohLord he could have always waited for the next one and gotten five seats then. Shut Up you are no more special then the next "normal" person. Can't wait for the next day.

Ok, awesome day and magical night!!!

Today was our day to go to Animal Kingdom. DS and I really love this park!

This day was supposed to be a bit cooler - a high around 65. It was pretty chilly that morning, but we were hoping that as soon as the sun got going it would be a little warmer..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2387_zps7e41cb0b.jpg

This day is definitely going to have to be recapped in two parts because I always go photo-overboard in this park. I just love all the animals, all the plants.. this park is so photogenic! As you can tell, anything tropical or green is definitely my thing! What can I say? I'm from ugly ol' brown-desert-Nevada!

We did great on time this morning and got to the park before it opened. Our KTTW cards wouldn't work right to admit us. EEK. We were afraid that somehow our park hoppers didn't get transferred correctly with all the confusion at the Poly check-in the night before.. However at the time we were at the new RFID entry side and the CM said they were still working all the bugs out, so "maybe it was them, not us". They asked where we were staying & quickly confirmed our tickets were still valid on their handheld computer-thingy and we were through the gates... phew! We hoped we we weren't going to have any more trouble with our hoppers!

We headed straight for Africa, for the Kilimanjaro Safari. DS loves the safaris.

We had a great ride - all the animals were out & about, posed perfectly for their photos to be taken, ha ha!

I brought my handy-dandy zoom lens for my camera.. It was cool to see some of the far-away critters more closely!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2473_zpsa07e4fca.jpg

After the Safari, we headed to our favorite ride of all Disneyworld, Expedition Everest!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2555_zps7f035ea8.jpg

DS was beyond THRILLED that we got placed in line for the FRONT ROW! He was jumping up and down like crazy!!

Of course I think sitting in the front row was also a great opportunity to take some awesome photos and video!

What? Doesn't everybody take photos while on a roller coaster? :confused3

We had two heart-stopping moments where DS almost lost our Photopass+ lanyard... He's at that age where he insists he's just as responsible as an adult, but still manages to have a lot of kid "moments".. haha. This time, he realized he left my precious lanyard in the pouch of our car!

I panic... (as in TOTALLY freak-out!) :scared1:

Luckily I realize that the CM's are well-trained & very efficient in pin-pointing which train is which and checking the pouches as they rotate back around. In no time we are reunited with our lanyard, PHEW! Losing anything photo-related during a trip would be completely devastating!!

So after all that excitement, we grab a Fastpass for Expedition Everest for later and then head off to find some more rides & adventures...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/Photo0071FourBySixcopy_zps4d02a637.jpg

We rode Primeval Whirl for the first time.. We never laughed so much, that ride is totally silly!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2529_zps471d2cec.jpg

Here's our photo from Dinosaur. It is totally hilarious!

I look like I'm laughing, DS looks like he's scared & DBF is all like "When's lunch". (men!!)

And that little guy behind DS is too funny!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/Photo0073FourBySix_zps547d8027.jpg

We went back to ride Everest again. This time we got the very back row, so it was fun to see which was best - the very front or the very back..

Verdict: the front, most certainly !!

After EE, we headed over to eat for the first time at Flame Tree BBQ.

The food was good, but what was even better was the atmosphere..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2576_zps39670607.jpg

I loved eating in this pretty setting, by the water, with a view of Everest in the background.

There were hardly any other people around! I love finding peaceful spots like this, amongst all the park craziness.

You're welcome, family, for all my diligent Disney research!!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2582_zps0aca21ca.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-1/DSC_2571_zpsaad8bb12.jpg

Love this photo .. It also reminds me how proud I was that DS chose NEON GREEN for the bands on his braces the week before our trip. Kids, gotta love them !!!

After lunch we headed to Its Tough To Be a Bug. I always love strolling around the Tree, seeing what kind of animals we can spot. :magnify:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_2613_zpsc3b5e087.jpg

The show was great as usual.. All of the 3D, well I guess 4D shows at Disney are just so fun and we really enjoy all of them. :3dglasses

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_2609_zps0034dc24.jpg

More pretty scenery..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_2611_zpsec62c53b.jpg

Crowds today seemed LOTS better , the worst we waited for anything was about 20 minutes.

We are indeed seeing a lot of those South-American teen tour-groups and they can be a little crazy. Luckily they're usually wearing matching bright shirts and waving a big neon flag, so anytime we saw that coming our way, we would exercise our right to get the heck out of the area. :upsidedow

Time to hit the trails to see some more animals:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_2633_zps2c8df5ca.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0117copy_zpsf9398322.jpg

Near the tigers, DS started jumping up and down calling for me to come over by him.. He said he found a "Hidden Tyler." He totally cracked us up.. too funny!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0127_zpsda0edccc.jpg

Afterwards we managed to spot DiVine for the first time! She was really interesting to watch, part magical, part beautiful, and part kinda CREEPY!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0082_zps046c01e9.jpg

Animal Kingdom closes kind of early at 5pm, but that actually worked out well because we had the evening to do whatever we wanted to do. We originally had a dinner reservation, but we decided to cancel it and not be tied to any kind of schedule for the rest of the day.

Since we were on that side of the "World", I thought we should take a little bus ride over to check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love checking out all the other resorts, and seeing what they're like.

I always thought the AKL looked neat online, and was originally considering choosing it for part of our trip, but it never really appealed to the boys..

Okay, first of all - the lobby. WOW.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0151_zpsfd27215a.jpg

It reminded us of the lobby from our stay at the Wilderness Lodge, same shape/basic design.

It was really beautiful and so detailed... We walked outside and explored some more. DS thought it was really neat that you could see animals from your room.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0153copy_zps4b4a25f9.jpg

The pool area was really gorgeous...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0163_zps8a3ee1f8.jpg

The boys really changed their tune.. they loved it here. DS said, "Can we stay here someday?" DBF just pretended to ignore us... he just LOVES it when we talk about "next time" when we haven't even finished our current trip! :rotfl:

The details and theming at some of these resorts are just amazing. The only drawback to AKL for us is the transportation, as we all really love having options other than busses, and we especially enjoy all the boats (we're from the desert, remember!). For some reason, we had quite a wait heading out of there, which probably sealed the deal with the boys on us ever staying there (boo!) .. :confused3 Oh well!

We finally made it back to the Poly. The boys decided to swim a while in the quiet pool, while I did a little laundry. Luckily laundry was close enough that I could go back & forth checking on it and sitting by the pool watching them swim. (Plus it gave me an excuse to chicken out on swimming because it was too cold for me.. The water was heated really nicely, but you sure do freeze for a little bit when you get out.. brr! )

As you can see, we are the ONLY crazy people at the pool :)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0247_zps091a45ab.jpg

After swimming/laundry, we ate dinner at Captain Cooks, which was yummy. I had the "grown-up grilled cheese", while the boys had flatbread pizzas. Followed by a round of Dole whips, which is clearly the best part of Captain Cooks!!!!!

Afterwards we watched the fireworks again from the beach, followed by the Electrical Water Pageant a bit later.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%204-2/DSC_0295_zps5a05de88.jpg

Time to go to bed! It has been a really great day.

Goodnight castle.. we'll be seeing you up close tomorrow!

So happy to read more of your awesome trip. :)

We love EE too. Last time we were there the ride wait was so short we went on a few times in a row. We had a great time with the ride photos. My favorite one (it's hanging on my wall here at home) shows my niece and my brother in the front and they are pretending that they are sleeping and my husband is flexing his muscles. My little princess is in the back hanging on for dear life and I am the only one with my arms up. Love that pic!!!

Looking forward to hearing more on your trip. :goodvibes

Very much enjoyed your latest update to your TR. Like you I Love Animal Kingdom and photographing it. We too were fortunate to see all the animals out. I think we have some of the same photos even. LOL We have a good eye! I was very excited to get a really good close up of one of the giraffes. Love your front row photos from EE. I went on it 6 yrs ago, I can say I went on it but once is enough. This trip I just photographed DD & DDBF on it. We ate a late lunch at Flametree while watching the parade. It was great. Love the part about your DS, "DS decided this little begging guy was the bird-version of our dog, back at home. Ha Ha!" So very true. Love the picture of your son with DeVine. One of my trips goals was to photograph DeVine and I did. Oh I can so relate to the feelings of the photo pass incident. Looking forward to hear more from your trip. Very much enjoying it.

Today was our Magic Kingdom day, yay!!

Based on the crowd calendars, the "best" day for MK had finally arrived. We love MK, so by this point we really were excited to get there!

However, since this was Day #5 of our trip, I think all the excitement and walking was starting to get to us, and we were pretty tired.
So, we planned on (hopefully) taking it at a slightly slower pace today! Ha! :faint:

We had just two basic goals for Magic Kingdom this year:

1- Ride Rides.
2- See New Fantasyland.
3- Get Citrus Swirls and/or Dole Whips.

(not necessarily in that order!)

We grabbed a quick on-the-go breakfast at Captain Cooks, and headed out.. On the way to the dock, we passed by the volcano pool.. so pretty!

It was supposed to be pretty nice today (high of 68), but we were wishing it was a tiny bit warmer for swimming!

At this point so early in the morning, it was pretty darn chilly!! brr. Come on sunshine...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0385copy_zps8105b15e.jpg

We probably should've ridden the Monorail over to MK, but we really enjoy the boat ride over, so we chose it instead. I guess we'll just sacrifice freezing for scenery!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0379copy_zps0deeae62.jpg

About half-way through our journey, we realize that maybe this wasn't the best decision ever........ brr!!!!

But soon enough, we are approaching the MK dock, yay!!

Look , there's the warm Monorail !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0403copy_zps659cf7a0.jpg

We get inside the park, onto Main Street, spot the Photopass photographer..... and...... REALIZE WE DON'T HAVE OUR PP+ LANYARD!!!!!!!!!! OMG !!!!!

It's back in our hotel room. arghhhhhh.

After we take turns blaming each other for whose fault this was :rolleyes2, we decide that ALL of us will be going back to get it. We don't want our money to go to waste, and of course we're sure there will be lots of photos we will want to have taken today.... arghhhhhhh. DBF decides DS cannot be "in charge" of the lanyard anymore after the Everest incident, and now this.... So that puts DS into silent pout-mode. Oh great! I hope it's not going to be THIS kind of day! :headache:

Sooo, out the gates we go. Do we pick the warm Monorail this time? Heck no! The boat is at the dock ready and waiting, so we chose it again.

Look on the bright side --- we get the WHOLE boat to ourselves!!
(Naturally there are exactly ZERO people LEAVING the park at 9:00am!)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0349_zps3d84cf45.jpg

Going back to our room...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0367copy_zps0ab2007c.jpg

Hey, at least it's a scenic walk, right guys..? Hello..? Guys???

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0376copy_zps72faa82a.jpg

umm, I'll just wait for you guys right over here.....

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0384copy_zps9d3c040d.jpg

So, the lanyard was retrieved, and NOW we go back to the boat dock.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0378copy_zps29a16f87.jpg

We get the same boat captain (who makes fun of us), and we set sail yet again..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0365copy_zps722a3006.jpg

Goodbye Poly, I mean it this time!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0395copy_zpsfbd464eb.jpg

This boat ride was actually kind of fun.. Since we were the ONLY ones on the boat again, the captain started telling us all sorts of old trivia about the Electric Water Parade and then showed us the remains of the old "wave machine" that used to run back when WDW was new. That was a really interesting bit of trivia that we really enjoyed hearing about!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0335copy_zps0785d88b.jpg

And here we are back in the park again..... phew!

Not exactly the best way to start our morning!!!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0740copy_zps9c661855.jpg

We got a lot of rides accomplished pretty quickly... Luckily, the crowds were pretty nice so far!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0412copy_zpse06b8373.jpg

We love to compare rides between WDW and DL..

Here's a few we came up with:

Space, small world, Pirates, Teacups - better in DL
Jungle, Haunted Mansion - better in WDW

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0408copy_zps8678210f.jpg

Lunch today was here:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0443copy_zps8ba05803.jpg

We don't eat burgers all that often , but we couldn't pass up coming back to this place again, because the fixin's bar is definitely the place to be! The sauteed mushrooms and onions....... yummy!

Oh, and don't forget "a couple" tubs of yummy warm "plastic cheese"....

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0466_zps0938927e.jpg

DS had the pork sandwich again. On our last trip, he declared this sandwich to be "life-changing" (his words.. he cracks us up!) However, for some reason this time, he said it didn't change his life. What?! Say it isn't so!!

DBF said he was thoroughly disappointed in DS's excitement level about this sandwich compared to last time, and if he didn't start getting more excited about things, we were going to ship him home right away! ;)

Frontierland shooting gallery = Tradition

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0477copy_zpse23ca3db.jpg

We decided to go check out Tom Sawyer Island. We've done it before at DL, but never at WDW. It actually surprised us with how fun it was over there!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0487_zpsedcefba4.jpg

We really enjoyed exploring all the caves, forts, bridges, etc.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-1/DSC_0501copy_zpse676c872.jpg

Way better than DL. We were so glad we went over there!

More great updates...I'm finally caught up and ashamed at how far behind I am on getting my TR done...well BOTH of mine! That's my plan for today since I'm home all day with a sick kid.

And I wanted to mention I would LOVE more comparisons between DL and WDW from you. We are planning out our first trip together to the west coast this summer with the kids. DH and I have been to Disneyland a few times but it's been quite a while for me (over 15 years) and we've never done California Adventure. We have plans to hit ALL of the SoCal area amusement parks while there and spend three days exploring Disneyland and California Adventure which I hope is enough for those two parks. :confused3

Can't wait to read more and now I need to get myself in gear and get my TR going again! :lmao:

TWO trip reports!? Now THAT is dedication! :faint: Trip Reports are so much fun, but they sure are lot of work to keep up, especially when pesky things like work, laundry, etc. keep getting in the way !!! :rotfl: I'm enjoying your Nov TR so far. My current Disney obsession is CRUISES, so I will definitely enjoy reading about that part of your trip!!! I'd really love to book a cruise in the next year or 2.

Wow on your summer trip.. sounds like you have a lot planned! I think you might be okay with 3 days.. that's the very minimum we do when we go.. figuring basically one day for each park, then one day to catch the stuff you didn't get to, or try to repeat the stuff you loved! Over the years, CA keeps getting better and better. We used to spend most of our time at DL, and not even a full day at CA, but now there is a lot to see & do at CA after the expansion/Carsland, etc we spend about equal time in both parks. Sounds like that is going to be a great trip for you guys!!!

I do have some more comparisons included on my next update, which I'll hopefully be posting sometime today or tomorrow for sure. Thanks so much for following along & commenting !!! :)

Yes the cruise was nice and I can't wait to get back to writing about it. I figure I'll finish up the most recent trip first since it's still fresh in my memory...and I took notes on my phone with that one. As for the cruise...well I will do my best to recall as much of it as possible.

Good to know we are okay with our four days. Our other plans include Six Flags, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal, and the San Diego Zoo. Looks like Universal is easily a day trip and for the most part my kids will be big enough to do most rides in the parks. We have a total of 10 days for this trip and plenty of time to plan but I'm already obsessing over where to stay! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear your comparisons and more about your fabulous trip!

I know the feeling, I could not look at enough Poly photos when we were anticpating our trip too !! Luckily for you and any other Poly lovers out there, I took over 500 photos just of the resort.. so I probably will be posting even more photos!!

I hope you have a wonderful time on your stay. That place is just HEAVEN ! :cloud9:

So, I last left off with us about halfway through our day at the Magic Kingdom.. we seemed to be getting a lot accomplished today.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/Photo0091FourBySixcopy_zpsc41df35b.jpg

We went over to Tomorrowland, and did a few things over there. We always love the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor! Oh, how we wish there was one in California. On our last trip (which was our first time seeing the show) I ended up as one of the targets, which was SO funny especially since we didn't know they did that to people in there. :rotfl: This time we got through the show without any of our mugs up on the bigscreen... I think DBF was relieved, however DS was WAY disappointed! :lmao:

Another Tomorrowland attaction I wish California had - the Peoplemover!

My happy Disney face ↓

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/DSC_0568copy_zpsf4bf84f8.jpg

I'm pretty sure I get this look a lot ↓ (especially when we're at Disney)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/DSC_0564copy_zpse8aca0b5.jpg

On to Buzz Lightyear.. I love this ride, however I definitely prefer DL's version because the laser guns aren't attached and you can move around more easily. However either way, no matter what I do, I never manage to score that well on this ride!

EVEN after "cheating" and reading some tips on the internet , I'm STILL terrible!!!!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/Photo0095FourBySix_zps8f709a53.jpg

Star Cadet? HUMPH !!!

The line for Space was too long, so we decided to come back for it tomorrow, and we went back over to Adventureland for one of our absolute favorite parts of the Magic Kingdom.

Is it a ride? nope.

Is it a character? nope.

It's an ice cream!!!

WDW soo totally exceeds DL with the legendary Dole Whip.. At Disneyland there's no swirl options.. just pineapple pineapple pineapple!! (which is so disappointing to us.)

I know, I know.. I know exactly what you're thinking, this place is SUPPOSED to be all about pineapple, D.O.L.E... DOLE !! I know. We do love pineapple, but but our usual order is two (vanilla) Dole Whip Floats and either an orange/vanilla swirl for a pinapple/vanilla swirl for DS.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/DSC_0547copy_zps4f9b8216.jpg

The DL float version DOES include a really cute little umbrella/cherry thingy, which always adds bonus points to ANYTHING served in a cup, however we really prefer the custom flavor options at WDW.. PLUS the WDW float cup itself is a waaay cuter shape as well. (Ok, now I'm just being picky :) )

All this controversy aside, I did something that my family thought was way radical .... I passed up my beloved WDW order-how-I-want-it-dole-whip-float for.......

the magical CITRUS SWIRL !!

When I read all the hype about its return on the internet , I knew I had to try it out. It was really yummy!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/DSC_0542_zps49cbe8bd.jpg

However, as good as it was, the best part of getting the Citrus Swirl, was definitely spotting this "bigger-Disney-fan-than-me" in line ahead of us there..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/DSC_0540_zps4de02873.jpg

Yep, that's a MICKEY shaved into his hair. Not the best photo, because I was trying to be discreet, but it was hilarious!!!!

My boys clearly need to step up their game for me around here!!! :worship:

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%205-2/DSC_0555copy_zps817ea141.jpg

I always love photographing the castle, since it's so different than the one at DL. While this one is sure huge and regal, I might sort of prefer the quaintness of the smaller DL version...? I especially like how DL's is much more accessible. I always love walking over the drawbridge, around the wishing well area, and in the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough. I'm not a huge fan of the stage thingy here at WDW..

After a little while, we headed back to the Poly to rest a little bit before dinner.

Here's our VIDEO of the day. Click HERE (http://youtu.be/OBWxzGOMlTQ)

Back at the Poly, relaxing near our room...

It was a pretty good meal. Nothing spectacular or "life changing", but buffets are always good because you can get a little of everything , and usually lots of healthy stuff too. (Well, until you get to the massive dessert section, that is!)

It reminded us a lot of Goofy's Kitchen back at DL. The characters and atmosphere were a lot of fun, except for the one big kid, one table over from us, who stood up and started throwing up on the floor. I was treated to the whole scene, but luckily it was to the boy's backs. I told them NOT to turn around, but you know what happens when you tell somebody NOT to do something... Poor Goofy was also about one table away, and ran to go get help. Poor kid. Luckily Goofy was just far enough out of the way when it happened, because THAT could've been REAL bad! :scared1: The parents got the kid cleaned up, sat him down, and went back to eating! Ha Ha. I guess they weren't going to waste their $30/plate meal on a sick kid! :confused3 The CM's got it covered up quickly, so I guess it wasn't too bad, but not exactly the most appetizing or magical thing for us to deal with during dinner!!

So aside from the incident, while it was a good meal, we're undecided if we'd return to Chef Mickey's "next time" when we would be paying out of pocket for all our meals... What I totally LOVED was being able to get great photos with the characters, which was much nicer than having to wait in lines for them in the parks. However, as far as the food goes, we thought there were other places we feel like the food quality is better at that cost (like Ohanas).. Also, perhaps our perception might be slightly skewed because we're from Vegas, and we can get twice the buffet (minus characters of course) for only $5.99 about ten-minutes from our house. So, who knows. LOL. :)

With our bellies full , we left the Contemporary and went back to the Poly on the monorail. We knew we had a full day ahead of us tomorrow, so we happily headed right to bed !!

Great pictures!!! Especially love that first one of the 3 of you with Walt's statue and the Castle behind you. :)

How awful that you had to watch a kid get sick at Chef Mickey's, I think that might have put me off my whole meal. Maybe not though. ;)

Love your TR and the videos you have thrown in. Looking forward to reading about your busy day at MK and Epcot!

Today was our last park day of our trip............ waaah !!

I was already getting sad.

Way. Sad.

This was our final chance to see and do everything we didn't get to yet. (which is like impossible!! After two trips we still haven't done nearly everything we want to do!)

Today's plan was to go to Magic Kingdom first, then break for swimming, then spend the other half of the day trying to finish up Epcot.

Today the weather was just awesome, sunny with a high around 73.

First was our breakfast reservation at Kona Cafe.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSC_0734_zpsafc37270.jpg

Tonga Toast!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSC_0585copy_zps2ee0b561.jpg

We head straight for Space Mountain.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSC_0747copy_zps2a137c3e.jpg

Don't worry, we did NOT forget our PP lanyard today!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/Photo0129FourBySix_zpsbc76adb4.jpg

Next was Tomorrowland Speedway, a favorite of DS's.

I wanted to drive my own car, but he insisted that I ride with him. "You know mom, that way you can just relax and take pictures."

He loves driving me around.

Here comes DBF..

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSC_0760copy_zps2a44816d.jpg

Next up was New Fantasyland, which I had been looking forward to this whole trip.

Little Mermaid..

Best meet & greet area ever...

The Great Goofini was so hilarious!! By far the best character experience we'd had.

I don't wanna leave!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/Photo0125FourBySixcopy_zps7cfdcd95.jpg

Our plan was to be swimming by 3pm.

We had a quick lunch out on the patio at Captain Cooks. Still loving the Poly!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSC_0861_zps9f49011e.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSC_0866_zpsb81506fe.jpg

And finally here we are at the pool !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSCN0465d_zps7e820c06.jpg

Here's DS coming down the slide. He loved it. All 3 of us did the slide.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSCN0451copy_zpsd1f340f1.jpg

DS took the waterproof camera down the slide. Here's his funny video (http://youtu.be/3OXrFlmczlc) . It makes me laugh every time I watch it!!!

We had a great time!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-1/DSCN0474copy_zpse9210f73.jpg

Of course when you travel in the winter, your pool time is definitely dictated by how lucky you get with the weather. We were so glad to have this beautiful day!! There sure weren't many people at the pool and it felt so good to have some relaxing down time! DBF said we should've extended our trip another couple days to have some more time like this. OH SURE, suggest that now!!!!!!! Where were you six months ago, when I was trying to plan this whole thing?!

We headed back to our room to get dressed & ready to go back to Epcot

Enjoying your trip report as it is snowing once again here. Last weekend Blizzard this weekend more snow. Last weekend I couldn't even follow as we were without our power for a couple days. Today enjoying the warm thoughts and never can get enough Disney! When we ate at Pecos Bill on our trip in January we had a lunch guest. One of the white Crane's I believe it was decided to jump onto the empty table next to us and see what we were eating. Of course I stopped eating to take very close up photos of him since he was like 2 ft from us. I have enjoyed all your photos. and there were a couple of the castle and a couple others that I found myself looking at and saying to myself, "Okay where did she take that from?" Enjoying all the great shots. Sad to hear we are getting toward the end as I am enjoying your trip report very much. Your comment about not getting to see everything you wanted on your list....The other side to that is I find when I get home I add more to that list of things I think of after. Whether I have seen something on here or something I saw there but in the hustle and bustle didn't really register and now that I have time think about it I want to go see. Especially with photos I want to try to capture. Keeps us coming back for more. That Disney obsession just grows larger!

That is too funny about the bird, some of them are really crazy :)

I'm not a bird-lover (scary random rooster attack in my early childhood), so I probably would've had to move! Large birds STILL scare me !!! LOL!

Wow, with all that snow!! No wonder you're enjoying all the photos of the tropical Poly! Stay warm :)

:) Another great update! I agree about Chef Mickey. We do it for breakfast EVERY trip because it is tradition, but it kills me to spend that kind of money. I guess I need to look into that Goofy meal in California for our trip just to compare. I'll be comparing the ice cream too, as your description of the pineapple ice cream with the cherry sounded good. Do they have floats because that is all my kids will care about and since we will be in Disneyland in AUGUST I know there will be ice cream consumption!! :rotfl:

So glad you got some pool time on your trip too. Fabulous!

Yes, they have floats at DL. The Dole stand is right in front of the Tiki Room. :)

Goofy's kitchen is good , however, the 3 of us prefer the Chip & Dale critter buffet at the Grand Californian over Goofy's.

All this DL talk is making me want to plan a quick trip there now!! ha ha. :upsidedow

So we walked over to the TTC, took the super convenient Epcot monorail and were there in no time.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-2/DSC_0892_zpsd0fc6b3b.jpg

I felt like we were still playing catch-up from our 2011 trip, where it rained so much that we never got to half of Epcot. There was still so much left that we hadn't done yet!

"oh well, whatever we don't get to, there's always NEXT TIME"

DBF just loves how much I say NEXT TIME. :rotfl:

We did a few rides and things around Epcot that we'd never done before.

Crowds were great today. (It's ALWAYS that way on our last day, I swear!)

We headed back to the World Showcase to finish up the countries. DS wanted to do another Agent P mission, but we just didn't have enough time. :guilty:

In Norway, I can't believe I didn't take a photo of this.... I wanted to find and try the Schoolbread, which I read a lot about on the internet. We found it and it was sooo good ! Definitely will return for that snack again "next time".

Time was flying by so quick... boo! We were all sad. Our park time was coming to an end.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-2/DSC_0929copy_zps7ad2388a.jpg

I was sooo sad to leave. Too bad we had a dinner reservation waiting for us.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-2/DSC_0931copy_zps2b7fec34.jpg

We must've gotten our second wind, because we were definitely wishing we could stay at Epcot until closing tonight!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-2/Photo0185FourBySixcopy_zps5bf349b8.jpg

On the positive side, the reservation we had tonight meant we were going back to 'Ohana again! :yay:

Earlier in the trip I said, 'Do we really want to go here twice, or is there somewhere else we'd rather try?'

DBF said, 'We definitely should do it, I mean, we love it so much and we're only here once every two yea...r...s... Umm I MEAN..... we are only here once every... LIFETIME........'

Too late mister, you did it now! I immediately said, 'We get to come back in two years!?' :cool1:

DS immediately started singing a song whose only lyric was "2015"

" 2015 2015 2015 2015 2015 two-thousand fifteeeeeeeeeeeeeen... "

Ha Ha. Poor DBF.

He tried to come up with a weak comeback... 'Well, when "I" win us our next trip, "I'm" going to pick where we stay and we're going to have to do everything that "I" want to do.....'

Oh PULEEEZE, like that scares me one bit !! Bring it on !!!

Back to 'Ohana. While we waited, I took some more photos of the lobby from the 2nd floor. So beautiful.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-2/DSC_0724_zps7872c246.jpg

Our meal was fabulous yet again. We got the same waiter! Ha. We got a table by the window and got seated just in time to watch Wishes from our table...

DS got a HUGE portion of ice cream tonight.. He was in heaven!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%206-2/DSC_0953copy_zpsfb98beae.jpg

After dinner, we shopped for a minute in the Poly gift shop. I actually hadn't bought anything on our trip so far.. What's wrong with me? Perhaps after moving last year, I've become way too practical with trying not to accumulate more clutter stuff I guess? My 2000 photos will be my souvenirs!

However, all the Poly merchandise was pretty tempting, they even had a Dole Whip shirt that DS was sure I needed !! He ended up buying me a late birthday gift (with MY money  ) - a cute Polynesian/Minnie Mouse keychain that I really love. I also bought a Disney scrapbook album.

Next, we needed to go downstairs to the front desk to settle our room charges. During our trip, instead of walking around with $1000 of Disney gift cards in our pocket, we had been locking them up in our room safe, just charging all our meals to KTTW card, and then planned on just applying our gift cards to our account before check out.

We'd been roughly keeping a mental tab of how much we had spent and knew we were real close to coming out right at zero. Our two add-on nights at the Yacht Club ate up quite a chunk of our gift cards, but we were still really happy with our decision to stay there!

So after we applied our gift cards, he said our remaining balance was.....

$863.32 .

WHAT !????!!! :scared1:

Well, they were charging us for the room for two nights .. ARGH! I told him about our prize, and that ALL our Poly stay should be no charge.

I figured I knew exactly what had happened. Our prize was for 4 free nights at the Poly, and the 2 additional nights we had at the YC were to be paid for with our prize gift card.

The Poly people obviously mistakenly read our reservation as as 2 "prize" nights at the YC, and another 2 "prize" nights at the Poly, leaving us with two Poly nights we still had to pay for. :sad2:

The guy helping us said he would have to call the Disney prize people and work it out, but unfortuntately they weren't open at this hour, so he would have to do it in the morning. AND of course, he was off the next day, so he would have to hand it off to his partner, "Christine". (we started to have a bad, bad feeling about all of this!!) :guilty:

I told him I had all our official prize paperwork, if he needed that for reference. He asked us if we could bring our paperwork back up so he could make a copy for "Christine". So we walked all the way to our longhouse to get the paperwork and all the way back to the lobby (where was that golf cart now!? ha ha. It's alright - I'm sure it was good for us to walk off some of the zillion calories we had just eaten at 'Ohana!)

So, back at the lobby again, I gave him a copy of our YC checkout, showing we had already paid for our YC stay (even though he said he didn't need it, because "they had all that in the computer" - I wasn't taking any chances!), PLUS the copy of my our final prize paperwork with all the costs and details of who was paying for what clearly broken down. (Again, thank goodness I had brought all that stuff with us!)

He promised he would leave "Christine" all the info and said she would "definitely" get on it first thing in the morning and then call me on my cell. He was really nice, but we were skeptical... All this confusion was a little stressful & not exactly magical ! :scared:

Speaking of other not-so-magical things, a little earlier that day I started to feel no-so-great.... nooo. sore throat. We had notice quite a lot of coughing/sick-sounding people around us during the week, I guess I had one too many germs land on me! nooooo. I sure hope I wasn't catching something bad! Getting sick at Disney, plus during my fantastical once-in-a-lifetime trip is just soooo WRONG....

"next time" = more hand sanitizer and vitamins !! :thumbsup2

We headed back to the room AGAIN. At least we do enjoy that beautiful tropical tiki-torch lit walk around the resort. I blogged a little, and checked in with "The Group" on Facebook. Unfortunately we never were able to arrange any meet-ups with any other winners during our trip, darn!

We headed off to bed for the very last time...........

oh no... I would be soo mad about all these "issues" with a free trip! lol... How hard is it to make sure your ressie is flagged.. Hope they got it fixed with no problem and maybe some pixie dust thrown in?? :) (although Don't get me wrong.. I would put up anything for a free trip to WDW )

So here we are on the day I've been dreading for so long.. our last day! BOOO!!!

We woke up to this interesting sight... super fog !

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_0956_zps61eeea5d.jpg

We originally had a breakfast reservation for this morning, but as our trip went on, we we decided to cancel it as we would rather like to have a more relaxing morning to pack up our stuff and maybe spend a tiny bit more time enjoying the Poly. We were tired today. We were really feeling all the walking and excitement over the last week..

The weather is always at its best whenever we leave Disney, I swear. They do that on purpose to make it harder to leave. It was going to be about 75 degrees today, just beautiful! Evil Disney!!

I was not feeling all that great today :( waah. Sore throat and cold sore. I think my body is definitley telling me it's worn out! Disney vacations are hard work!!

DBF was sad that we had all that confusion at the lobby yesterday, and now our trip was coming to a close and I wasn't feeling well. He said he was also afraid now I had nothing in my life to look forward to, since I've spent nearly the last year having so much fun planning this trip... I told him not to worry, because after all, we still had 2015. LOL.

We finished packing and I tearfully said goodbye to our wonderful room. We walked to the lobby, checked our airplain luggage in to the Magical Express counter up front, and they printed up our airline boarding passes for us. They make everything so easy. We checked our carry-on bag into bag check for them to hold until we were ready to leave, which was easy and quick as well.

We didn't have to catch our Magical Express bus until 4:30, so our plans originally were going to Downtown Disney, and a round of mini-golf. However, since the weather was so so nice, I was really tempted to make it another pool day. I put our swim stuff in our carry-on bag, just in case...

We headed over to Captain Cooks for breakfast.

We ate outside on the patio, which was lovely as always.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_0970copy_zpsa0d38475.jpg

After breakfast, we walked to the bus stop. On the way, I tried to soak up as much pretty Poly scenery as I could...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_2359_zpsed7de42e.jpg

Then "Christine" called. She was a real, actual person! :rotfl:Thank goodness! She said all our charges were indeed fixed, and my "real" balance was no $130.12 (which was indeed correct, as we doublechecked our charge sheet really carefully last night). Yay for only being $100 over our spending! PHEW. I am so glad all this is finally taken care of. So relieved!

We took a bus to Hollywood Studios..

Might as well take a few more photopass photos as we pass by the entrance of HS...

It was SO warm today! I was HOT actually with the short sleeves and jeans I was wearing.. what beautiful weather! Why does Disney torture me so on our last day here!!!

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_1023_zpsfbff55e4.jpg

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_00132_zps36011812.jpg

While we enjoyed this Fantasia course, we decided we liked the Winter Summerland course better (we did that one on our 2011 trip). The Fantasia grounds were much prettier, however the theming of the W/S was much more silly and fun. The only drawback from the W/S is that the location can be much more of a hassle. It is located right next to Blizzard Beach. On our last trip, BB was being refurbished, but the bus drivers assured us that the busses would still be running because of W/S. Let me tell you, that huge empty parking lot at night was pretty desolate! We were the ONLY people there , and we were thinking a bus would NEVER come 'rescue' us. We were feeling a little stranded for a while out there.

Either way, we always enjoy our golf time, unfortunately we don't have places like this back home anymore, so we were glad we checked it out.

Here we are on the boat ride back.. Ha Ha. This pretty much sums us up at this point of our trip! :)

Really enjoying your trip report. I am so sad that it is the last day. I agree that it always seems like the perfect day on the day we have to leave. Total torture. :sad1:

Your DBF sounds just like my DH and you sound just like me. We are always saying next time and they are always battling it even though we will win in the end. LOL Loved the colors in your Swan photo they were beautiful. I don't think there is anything about Disney that I don't love. I am already making notes for my next trip. Sorry to hear about the bill issues again. Thank God you had everything with you to show. My DH at times questions why I bring the things I do. I tell him I hope I don't need them but I have them if I do. Perfect Example! I will be reading this to him. :thanks:

We arrived at Downtown Disney.

We ended up walking around only a ridiculously tiny bit, because we knew we'd be running out of time fast.

We ate lunch for the first time at Earl of Sandwich. (Super Tip - If you have a birthday within a month of your travels, sign up for the birthday club on Earl's website, and they will give you a coupon for a free sandwich! Score! ) DS got a smoothie and some mac and cheese, and DBF and I got two sandwiches and split them. Man, was that place hoppin' ! Super busy, but pretty efficient, and totally worth it. We had the Caprese (Roma Tomatos, Mozzarella, Basil and Balsamic Vinaigrette) and the Original 1762 (Roast beef, cheddar and horseradish sauce).

We can't wait to eat at the new Earl that just opened at Downtown Disney in California. (and I'm hoping that will be Dec '13!!)

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_00262_zps190aaac0.jpg

After lunch, we decided to take a boat ride up the river to the Port Orleans resorts , since we had never checked them out before, then take a bus back to either the Magic Kingdom or Epcot to get back to the Poly.

There's the balloon I wanted to go on . The boys still said "no way!" . boo.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_00282_zps25510010.jpg

The boat ride was peaceful and relaxing. Love how the music changes from resort to resort. I just am so in love all the little details at Disney ... :lovestruc

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_00372_zps6c59eff4.jpg

We liked the Port Orleans area, however we are pretty sure that the Poly has now ruined us forever and ever .......

We had a sort of crazy experience at the Port Orleans bus-stop, a bus arrived with packed full of those South-American tour group kids. They just kept coming out of the bus, more and more and MORE. Not sure how they all fit in there? :crowded: A few of them were horsing around and "accidentally?" mowed down my DS, so we were really glad that another bus was pulling up and we got the heck outta there!! I guess that was one additional benefit of the Deluxes - no crazy groups hanging out over there!???

So we finally arrived back at the Poly..

This is the walk I'd been dreading all week....

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_2364_zps7e20a5f9.jpg

Up to the front of the hotel to the Magical Express bus stop.

noooooooooooo.

We had a tiny bit of time before our bus was going to be there, and DS had already been begging for "one last Dole Whip", so we went inside to Captain Cooks..

Then we went up front to pick up our carry-on bag that they were holding for us, ate our Dole whips and waited for our ME bus. We waited and waited. Our bus was late. Boo! How cruel to drag out our already painful departure! Just get it over with already!

Our bus finallllly arrived and we were on our sad ride back to the airport. I waved goodbye to the Poly, like I was five years old, yes I did. "It's not goodbye, it's see you later!!!" :(

DS immediately fell asleep on the bus - he was so exhausted, as were we all. He had a fun time, but he said he was feeling homesick, missing our dog and ready to go home. I was exhausted and I missed our dog too, but not THAT much! Sorry, dog, I definitely could've stayed longer. DS really missed out on the drive because DBF and I spotted a bunch of cool things on the way back. We saw one turkey, one gator and one eagle! Cool!

We got to the airport and proceeded through security with all the other tired-looking travelers holding various Disney souvenirs. Ha Ha. The "departing" area is sure different than the "arriving" area. Everybody looks tired and sad!

In Atlanta, we had a bit longer of a layover, DS was starving so we let him have a quick little meal while we were waiting....

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h93/lvjen777/dis/tr%207/DSC_00652_zps8dc135ac.jpg

Our next flight was interesting. It was a late night flight, from Atlanta to Vegas, and it was pretty crazy, with all these wound-up people ready to party in Vegas! I'd never been on a plane where so many passengers were so chatty! :chat: Even so, we finally all went to sleep. Suddenly DS woke up, and didn't realize he wasn't feeling good and promptly threw up right there in his seat. OMG! I grabbed an airsick bag , which he used a little bit, but was mostly about 1 minute too late. I called for a stewardess, but of course, we were in turbulance / sit-down / stay-buckled mode so nobody came for a little bit. EEK ! When one did come, she was a very young cute little blond thing. I was trying to be discreet telling her what had happened and what I needed.... She brought me back 5 kleenex and like 3 paper towels. Really?!!!! That is not going to cut it, girlie!! LOL.

I called for another stewardess, and got another (older) lady, who obviously "got" it.. I got a trash bag and a huge pack of paper towels. What a MESS! I have a strong stomach, but that experience really tested my limits !! I turned our air on full blast, started to clean up everything I could (yay for leather seats) and filled that trash bag. It was pretty hard in that kind of confined space. DS was so embarrassed and sad. Poor little guy. :scared: Talk about an adventure in parenting.. I was amazed that I managed to keep the whole thing super discreet and under wraps. Yay me. :worship: !!! We tried to joke that I guess if it was going to happen, it was better here than getting sick with Goofy at Chef Mickeys??? :confused3

That plane couldn't land fast enough!! THANK GOODNESS we had our swim stuff with us in our carry-on, because we could just THROW AWAY his other shorts. I don't know how he missed his shirt completely, but he did. I don't know what we would've done if we didn't have that change of shorts?????? Poor kid. What a mess! And let's not even talk about the iPod and earbuds that were in his lap at the time as well.!! :crazy2: After landing, we quickly went to the very first bathroom we could find and let him clean up again...

Since we were super late getting down to the luggage carousels, that was another bit of an adventure trying to track down where they take luggage that people don't pick up. :scared: With our luggage successfully recovered, we finally get to our truck in the parking garage and head home around 1:00 am (in the pouring rain, I will mention!)

The transition from Disney to "real life" sure hadn't been an easy one!!! :sad2: Adding to that airport craziness, that morning we go to pick up our dog, who ended up being super sick as well. Who knows if she ate something weird or was homesick, or what .. ?? So we had to begin nursing her back to health over the next few days as well. Phew! Vacations are hard work!!!! :faint:

It took me a couple days before I was ready to EVEN talk about that plane experience with friends and family. Ha. After such an awesome trip and so many fun experiences, we were SOOOOOO sad that it all had to end this way!!

My "next time" list (so far) is as follows :

-On all future flights, DS will NOT be eating prior and a change of clothes will ALWAYS be with us.

-Poly (will I ever be able to stay anywhere else ever again..?)

-Hoop de Doo dinner show

-Spend more time at Epcot

-Have an all day pool/relaxation day

-Rent water mice on the lake

-Splash Mountain (it's been down on both of our trips, so we've never ridden it at WDW)

-Eat at Be Our Guest

and finally, MY CONCLUSION ..................

You may or not remember one little detail from our trip :

For our prize, we got four 5-day park hoppers.......... We only used three..................... That means you know I still have one park hopper burning a hole in my pocket................ TO BE CONTINUED....................???? :upsidedow

In the meantime, I can keep reliving my trip as I go to work on my trip scrapbook now.

AND

I definitely will continue to faithfully enter Disney contests!!

THANKS SO MUCH to everybody who has been here reading my TR !!! It has been a lot of fun writing it, and hopefully I will be able to write more in the future !!

We ate a Earl of Sandwich too. I was impressed by how quick they moved everyone though when we went. I got the holiday sandwich according to the sign date it had ended but they were still serving it which made me happy. I have forgotten what the others got but we were all very pleased with our sandwiches. I also bought some loose tea in the shop next door to bring home to add to my stash. Did you like your visit to Port Orleans? I wanted to stay there but we ended up staying at Caribbean Beach again as we loved it there. We went to go over there for a visit but decided to check out the Board Walk and the other resorts there. We ran out of time to visit Port Orleans. :sad2: I would like to stay there next time in Riverside I think. Oh as for the balloon ...our friends were married in it a couple months ago. I am so sorry to hear that your DS was so sick on the flight home. Oh and I am with your DS as I so missed our dog while we were down there. She is a sweet 12 yr old black lab. Thank you for sharing your TR with us all. Oh and I learned a few things for FUTURE trips.

We sure did like Port Orleans. The Mansions section of Riverside was our favorite.. There were a few people walking along the river, and that seemed very peaceful and pretty. The busses do make quite a few internal stops there, that was maybe the only negative, if a person was ever in a hurry to get somewhere.

Since DS is not looking forward to flying again anytime in the near future, he offered to stay in town (with grandma & the dog) while the two of us go back and use that leftover ticket. Is he crazy?!?!? :sad2: I'm not sure if we'd actually do it, but it's worth thinking about..........!! DBF thinks we could have a nice time on an adult-only trip. If so, we'd definitely consider Riverside.

I had no idea people can get married in that balloon, how cool! We've talked about Disney weddings a little here & there, however not sure if that would actually ever really be a possibility. We're thinking probably Hawaii for when we do. :beach: (and of course then there's always Aulani !!) :rotfl:

I'm so glad you enjoyed my TR & that it can help you plan your "next time"! ;) Thanks for reading along!!!

I loved reading your TR, you say the same thing that I do, especially to my kids...."It's not goodbye, It's 'see you later'!

Are you going to post any of your scrapbook pages?

Caribbean Beach resort has a lot of internal bus stops also. So I am used to that already. Do they stop at any other resorts as well though do you know? Hopefully DS will forget his unpleasant flight experience and be excited to go again soon!
