View Full Version : Pirates and Princesses and Phun, Oh My!

We went to WDW in May 2009 and at that time I did a Pre-Trip Report and had planned on doing an actual trip report, but never got around to it. Now that we're planning our next vacation I'm regretting not having done one before.

So if anyone is interested in seeing, I'm going to put one together this week while I'm on vacation.

A little sneak peek of what our trip consisted of:

10 days on-site at Caribbean Beach Resort
Birthday Surprises
Princess Tea Parties
LOTS of character meetings
Mousekeeping fun
Food porn
A poncho fashion show
And someone on our trip screamed like a little girl on Splash Mountain (hint...it wasn't one of the girls!)

This is my little princess. Don't you want to hear her story?

Hop on board if you'd like to read more!!

This is our story….

My daughter was about 2 when she first learned about the Princesses. Here she is as Cinderella for Halloween that year.

She asked me where they lived and when I told her Florida, she said, “We have to go!” So I told her someday we would visit when she was a bit older and she never forgot that. Every so often over the years she would talk about what we would do when we went to Disney.

Finally we decided it was time. We planned our 10 day trip for her 7th birthday.

Pre-Trip Fun

As part of the countdown fun, we had 100 day party. I bought a bunch of Disney themed items to get DD even more excited about our trip. We made Mickey shaped pancakes for breakfast and Mickey shaped pizza for dinner.

And thanks to all the ladies on these boards I heard you can’t go to WDW without a little Vera Bradley so I had to buy these fun items.

Ok, on to the actual Disney stuff…

The Departure

At the ungodly hour of 4:30am our town car picked us up for the airport. Now we aren’t normally town car type people, but I splurged for our Disney trip. I should have taken a picture of us in the fancy car, but at that early in the morning I wasn’t feeling all photographerish. (Shut up, that’s a word!)

Then we hopped on the plane and off we went!

This is DD on the plane, ready to go!

We arrived at the Orlando airport and made our way to Magical Express. We happen to get a Disney Cruise themed bus.

DD & DH being silly on the bus.

That bus ride seemed like the longest ride EVER. But as we pulled in to the resort, a beautiful rainbow appeared over us.

This however, would be the very last sunny day we would see. ☹

Up next – Our Pirate room at Caribbean Beach Resort, Le Cellier, and Fireworks!

Day 1 – Ahoy – We have arrived eh?

So we arrive a Caribbean Beach Resort and during check-in we received a Happy Birthday button for DD to wear. This will become very important later on!

DD was unaware that we had booked a Pirate room. This is her upon first walking in along with more pictures of the room.

This is the carpet that looks like planked wood!

After getting settled we headed over to Epcot to check out the Flower and Garden Festival.

These topiaries were amazing!

We then started to make our way to Le Cellier for dinner (yay!). Along the way we found this adorable little guy. I didn’t buy him and I’m kicking myself for it. I love his cute little gnome face!

Up next, Le Cellier and Fireworks!

So we had 7:55 dinner reservations at Le Cellier and headed that way. I heard that Le Cellier is now a signature dining experience requiring two credits on the Disney Dining Plan. I can tell you, it would be so worth it!!

*That head up there is just some random guy - It was not a head in our party. :rotfl:

These are some pictures from the gardens outside the restaurant. We waited here for our table to be ready. It was such a beautiful backdrop. A really great way to wind down from our flight.

Now for the food.

I failed in my photojournalist duties and did not get a picture of our meal. We had the pretzel bread (of course!) and the cheddar soup (O..M...G!!). I believe I had the Filet Mignon for the entrée and it was fabulous.

For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse. Not only delicious, but incredibly cute!

After dinner we were just in time for the IllumiNations Fireworks show. We were able to stroll right up with the rest of the crowd and watch the show.

Now at the time I had a pretty basic camera and clearly did not know the best setting for fireworks, because this is what I ended up with…

You'll just have to trust me that the show is amazing!

I suppose they are kind of beautiful in an abstract kind of way. Lol
If you really want to see what they actually look like before your trip, then check out google images.

After IllumiNations, Epcot was closing down, but we were still raring to go so we hopped over to Magic Kingdom for some late night fun.

We passed by the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor and went it to check it out. No pictures allowed inside, but I did snap this one in the waiting area.

The show was a lot of fun, set up like a comedy show but for kids. The fun part is if you have a joke, you can text it to the show and they might read during the show. We sent one in, but it didn’t get picked. ☹

After that we went out and did some late night rides with little to no line.

Now, after my IllumiNations photo failures I shouldn't have any room to talk, but...this picture is all blurry because DH took it. This was before the ride started when we were sitting still. Sitting still! How hard is it to take a good picture of static subjects?!

As we were leaving the park, we got a few shots of the castle all aglow. What a great first night experience!

Up Next...Full Magic Kingdom day! Breakfast with the princesses and dinner with Mickey.
