The One Where We Got Engaged

Welcome! We just returned from a wonderful trip to Florida and I'm very excited to re-live it through a trip report. I'm also excited about being able to refer to my fiancé as my fiancé!

Trip Dates: December 6, 2012 - December 18, 2012

Who: Me (29) ::MinnieMo & DF (35) ::MickeyMo

Where: Cocoa Beach, Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure, Walt Disney World, and Sea World

Hotels: DoubleTree by Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, Loews Royal Pacific, and Disney's Port Orleans Riverside

Trip Background: When we returned from our first trip together to WDW in May 2011, our post-Disney depression was horrible. My trip report from that trip is here: May 2011 Trip Report (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2730992&referrerid=352105). It was my fiancé's first trip to WDW and he couldn't wait to go back. We also hit some bumps during our first trip and sort of wanted a do-over trip. We have been saving for this trip ever since. Neither one of us had been during the holidays, and we were looking forward to cooler weather. Add free dining to the mix and we were set! This was my 5th trip to WDW, and my fiancé's 2nd.

This is us during our first trip:

Part 1: Travel Day - Thursday Dec. 6th

Even though I started packing a week before the trip, I still wasn't finished the night before. My cat decided to help. :rolleyes2

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1616_zps5711e3b5.jpg

On our last trip, we missed our flight. After missing a turn for the airport, I was afraid that would be our fate this time! Look at all of this luggage for just 2 people, lol. We brought an extra suitcase so we could bring back lots of stuff. This amount of luggage becomes more relevant later in our trip...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1619_zps5b4098ef.jpg

Thankfully, we didn't miss our flight. Here we are waiting to leave from DIA. Our flight left DIA around 1:25 p.m. We had the row to ourselves!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1625_zps8fc6caa8.jpg

Since we booked our flights with airline miles, we didn't have a direct flight from Denver to Orlando. This was taken on our way to our layover in Minneapolis.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1626_zps6598af43.jpg

Our plane from Minneapolis to Orlando! Yay! Our layover was only about 1.5 hours, if that. Plane left Minneapolis at 5:35 p.m. We had the row to ourselves on this flight too, isn't that the best?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1632_zpsef5af5af.jpg

Time to get my Real Simple on :) That's a Parks & Rec reference, if anyone here is a fan of the show. That's my trip binder under the magazines.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1631_zpsdb5c3469.jpg

We arrived in Orlando a little earlier than our scheduled arrival time of 9:50 p.m. Picked up our rental car from EZ Rental. The guy tried getting us to upgrade, which we didn't want to do. Finally he just gave us a free upgrade because they were out of the standard sized car we reserved. More on that later...

After picking up the car, we drove to Cocoa Beach and checked in at the Doubletree by Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront hotel. Here's our room:

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1638_zpsee77fe7a.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1639_zps53c26dbb.jpg

It was dark and late by the time we arrived in Cocoa Beach, but we hadn't had dinner yet. Nothing was really open so we went to Steak 'n Shake! We don't have these in Colorado so I was kind of excited. It's cheap and pretty good food. I had the BLT, and I'm not sure what my fiancé had, but it was not bad for a 1 a.m. dinner.

The hotel was nice, and it was pretty reasonably priced. With taxes and everything, it was about $250-ish for 2 nights.

Love, It is my dream to get engaged at WDW :)

Mine too!

Yay! Not planning Disney wedding, but probably a Disneymoon! No wedding date yet but I think it will be in October 2013, with a Disneymoon in January 2014. :lovestruc

I'm not completely on board with the idea of going to WDW for a honeymoon, because we are planning a lot of Disney trips this year. We were planning to go to Disneyland with my family in September 2013 to celebrate my 30th birthday. And as oaf a few hours ago, we might go to WDW in April 2013 for a quick trip to use some unused airline tickets that are about to expire.

Congratulations on your engagement!

Ugh, that's so shady!

Thank you! I agree about the car rental place. They are such a pain to deal with.

Part 2: Cocoa Beach - Friday Dec. 7th

I love the ocean, so we made a point to visit Cocoa Beach this trip. It was really nice to have a relaxing day after flying, before beginning the hectic theme park part of the vacation! This is the view from our hotel room balcony. We didn't want to pay for an ocean front room, so this is our "partial ocean view" room.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2317.jpg

First stop of the morning was the Starbucks at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel. We almost stayed at this hotel, but changed at the last minute so that we could be on the beach. They have a pretty decent shopping area inside (too large to be considered a gift shop), and my fiancé needed shirts so we spent some time in here for a while. It's a little difficult to find warm-weather clothing in Colorado in December! I then proceeded to spill coffee all over my white shirt, so I had to buy a new shirt too :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1660.jpg

Remember all of that luggage? Try fitting it in THIS rental car. When the rental car place gave us the option of the free upgrade, I asked my fiancé if he was sure the luggage would fit. He loves Camaros so of course his answer was "we'll make it work!". So practical :rolleyes2

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1669.jpg

All I really knew about Cocoa Beach before this trip was that it had a Ron Jon Surf Shop.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1663.jpg

After buying some souvenirs at Ron Jon's, we went here to grab lunch (deli sandwiches), bottled water, etc.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1670.jpg

And finally, the beach!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2352.jpg

We decided to head back to the hotel pool for some drinks. I wanted something fruity with an umbrella.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2321.jpg

The pool wasn't very large, but it was right by the beach.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2387.jpg

Palm trees just make me happy.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2390.jpg

No umbrella, but good enough!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2397.jpg

After sitting by the pool, we went up to the room and took a nap. We ended up sleeping for several hours, waking up around 8:30 p.m. (oops)! I didn't know this, but this ruined my fiancé's initial proposal plan. We went to the Cocoa Beach pier to find dinner, but the restaurants were full with holiday parties so we went back to our hotel and had very delicious wood-fired pizza at the hotel restaurant.

Part 3: The Proposal - Saturday Dec. 8th

We checked out of the hotel around 11 a.m., and packed up the rental car. As we sat in the car about to leave, my fiancé asked me if I wanted to go "say goodbye" to the beach and hang out there for a little bit longer before we left. I should have known something was up, because our plan for that day was to go to Kennedy Space Center, he LOVES Kennedy, and he would normally be very anxious to just go straight there. He is also not as crazy about the ocean as I am. Back to the beach we went...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2400.jpg

We sat on some beach chairs, watched kids playing, the waves, etc. I was honestly a little sad and disappointed because part of me really expected him to propose the day before. I figured that if he didn't do it yesterday, it wasn't going to happen on this trip.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2401.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2405.jpg

Our story is a little different. We've been together for over 7 years, own a home together, several pets, have made out-of-state moves together, planned to get married eventually, but haven't for various reasons. We started looking at rings online in November. I also recently noticed one of the rings that I never wear downstairs on the coffee table one night (he was trying to figure out my ring size), but was trying not to get my hopes up. He did everything he could to lead me to believe that it wasn't going to happen on this trip. So after he didn't propose on our first day on the beach, I was just ready to move on to Kennedy!

I'm not sure how long we sat on the beach chairs, but it started to get really hot and he started acting a little weird. I told him that a Diet Coke would make me REALLY happy, and wouldn't getting something to drink and heading to Kennedy make him happy? He said that that would make him happy, but that me being his wife would him happier, and he pulled out an open ring box and placed it on my lap.

I stared at him and said "seriously?" And then I think I said "of course" and we kissed and hugged. He had to tell me to look at the ring. :lovestruc

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2410.jpg

I took this picture later in the trip, but I think it shows the ring more clearly. It's a simple 4-prong platinum setting, with a round brilliant cut diamond. The diamond itself is G color, GIA excellent cut (GIA's version of ideal cut/highest rating), VVS2 clarity, and 0.73 carats. The band is a little loose so I may need to get it re-sized, but I love it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1707.jpg

I was in shock and very excited! We decided to not call any family/friends until after we went to Kennedy. He told me that he had planned to propose the night before at sunset but couldn't because we slept through it. :) He was even going to have the date engraved in the ring from the day before, so it's a good thing he decided against it.

Part 4: Kennedy Space Center - Saturday Dec. 8th

We arrived at Kennedy around 1 p.m., to be welcomed by storm clouds and rain. We've been to Kennedy before, but they've changed things since our last trip in 2011. The entrance is new and is in a different location, and they now charge for parking ($10). I like the new entrance because it's right in front of the rocket garden, which used to feel a little out of the way.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2414.jpg

It was neat to see the Christmas decorations. Look at those clouds!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2415.jpg

This is the granite ball fountain thing (that sounds better than it's real name, a Kugel ball). I think it's pretty cool, but I'm easily entertained. :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2416.jpg

We tried buying the special tickets for the Vehicle Assembly Building tour but it was sold out. These are the only tickets we didn't buy ahead of time, and we really should have. That was a little disappointing, but not surprising. After a quick lunch in their fast food restaurant (:crazy2:), we went onto the regular bus tour instead (the one included with admission). Here's a little picture of the bus loading area.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2417.jpg

Launch pad from the viewing area. The viewing area is the first stop on the bus tour.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2438.jpg

The Vehicle Assembly Building. This building is huge, each of the stripes on the flag is 9 feet wide. You'll drive by this a few times on the bus tour.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2444.jpg

The weather started clearing up when we were by the Apollo / Saturn V center. Yay for more palm trees!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2451.jpg

The obligatory rocket picture. (If you haven't been to Kennedy, the only way to get to the Apollo / Saturn V center is by the bus tour).

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2453.jpg

At the end of the bus tour, right by the main entrance to Kennedy, we drove by where they are building the Atlantis exhibit. You can see the Atlantis inside of it from the road, but this picture didn't turn out very well. I have a feeling this is why they now charge for parking...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2458.jpg

More Christmas Decorations!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2466.jpg

We didn't get to see either of the IMAX moves the last time we went to Kennedy, so we watched this one this time. Now, I love IMAX movies but I was starting to get anxious and having a hard time sitting still because I just wanted to tell everyone I knew that we were engaged!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2467.jpg

After the IMAX movie, we hit the gift shop. I almost bought one of these coffee mugs because the lid/seal was pretty cool (I spill a lot, so I need all the help I can get). Decided not to buy one, but took a picture instead.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1681.jpg

My fiancé bought a hat and I forget what else. We bought this cute little ornament for our tree. You'll see that we ended up buying a lot of Christmas ornaments on this trip...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1885.jpg

I think Kennedy closed at 5 p.m. and I was definitely ready to leave and start calling everyone I knew to tell them about the proposal. We slowly made our way back to the parking lot, checking out more of the Christmas decorations and other fun things in the rocket garden.

All in all, we had a good time at Kennedy. Having just been there a little over a year ago, I was a little bored by some of the stuff on the bus tour, but we did try to do some new things while we were there. I spent most of the day staring at my ring, so I was a little distracted :)

You may have noticed by now that I'm not including a ton of pictures of the two of us. Due to the nature of my job, I'm a little uncomfortable posting them. I hope this is still an enjoyable trip report, despite that!

AHHH congratulations, again!!! Your ring is just gorgeous!

Omg, I love those big balls! There is one at the Science Museum here! I love playing in it.

Kennedy looks cool, but I can see why it could be a little boring going twice in a short period of time!

Part 5: Loews Royal Pacific - Saturday Dec. 8th

After finally leaving Kennedy, I started calling my family to tell them about the engagement. My mom didn't answer her phone, so I called my dad next and told him the news. He was really excited, but of course had to add "better late than never". Thanks dad :rolleyes2 After talking to my two sisters and my mom, my sisters posted about it on Facebook so of course everyone else knew within minutes. I felt bad because we hadn't had the chance to call my fiancé's family yet. His parents knew about it before the trip, but still. Gotta love Facebook :headache:

We made a few stops on our way to Universal. We had a Redbox movie that we brought from Colorado to return (I never remember to return those!), so we went to Publix. Across the street from Publix was a tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant called Tasty Wok BBQ & Noodle House. We were starving, so I looked up reviews for it on my phone. The reviews were pretty good, so we ended up eating dinner there. It was packed, but the food was good. My fiancé liked it more than I did (he loves trying restaurants like that). Nothing makes an engagement dinner more awesome than ducks hanging in the window  (Don't worry, we had many fabulous dinners during the remainder of the trip to celebrate our engagement). Our last stop was Best Buy, because I forgot to pack my camera charger. :(

We pulled up to the Loews Royal Pacific Hotel sometime around 8 p.m. The hotel is gorgeous, and we both immediately felt like we were now officially on vacation. I got some better pictures of this during the day, but this is the cool fountain area courtyard by the lobby.

Christmas decorations in the lobby.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2503.jpg

We paid for a standard king-bed room, without any special view or anything. They gave us room #2222, so that was easy to remember. Here are some pictures of our room. The room was small but very nice.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2477.jpg

After checking in, we drove to Walgreens over on I-Drive (an interesting area, for sure) to get some Ziploc bags so my fiancé could ice his knee. He ended up having knee surgery right after our last WDW trip, and sure enough his knee started acting up on this trip too.

We wandered around the hotel a little bit...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2483.jpg

I didn't really get a good picture of the pool, but it had a zero entry and a neat (but loud) splash area.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2493.jpg

Our night was pretty low-key, with my fiancé icing his knee and us watching Parks & Rec. We needed some down time because our first theme park day was the next day!

Part 6: Universal Studios - Sunday Dec. 9th

We woke up around 8:30 because we were so excited to finally be going to a theme park. We are not morning people, and came from two time zones away so this felt really early. By 9:30 we were waiting for the boat to take us to Universal.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2505_zps7a5e5dcc.jpg

The plane by our hotel at the end of the lake.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2506_zps2e1dc691.jpg

I loved being able to take the water taxi to the park. It was relaxing and so convenient! Took this as we drove past Islands of Adventure.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2507_zpsc91cf202.jpg

The nice thing about the water taxi is that it drops you off at City Walk in the middle of the two parks (IOA and Universal), so you aren't making a bunch of stops. This is the view of Islands of Adventure and part of the Hard Rock Cafe from the boat loading area at City Walk.

This is the view of Universal from the loading area.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2510_zpsd1a2dddf.jpg

By 10:00 we were in the park! That's definitely a record for us  It was pretty empty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2513_zps126e971d.jpg

First ride of the morning was Revenge of the Mummy! I love this ride. If you're wondering why there's a big Garfield in front of it, it's supposed to be one of the Macy's parade floats.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2514_zps178c23e7.jpg

Nothing will wake you up like riding the Mummy first thing in the morning! Well, almost nothing. I still needed some caffeine. Thankfully, Universal has one of these!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2515_zpsbf6fe7c6.jpg

Armed with Starbucks, we went on a few more rides. We missed the Simpsons ride last trip, so that was our first stop. After Simpsons, we hit Men in Black and ET. This was my fiancé's first time on ET, he thought it was cute. Neither one of us had seen Shrek so we decided to go there next. I think I liked the pre-show area of Shrek more than the actual attraction.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2517_zps9f5776eb.jpg

The Shrek gift shop sold diamonds. I think I like mine more :)

Part 7: Finnegan's - Sunday Dec. 9th

After Shrek, we realized we were getting pretty hungry. It was a little after noon, but our lunch reservation at Finnegan's was not until 1. We decided to try to walk-in a little early.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2521_zps978415f6.jpg

They were able to seat us early, no problem. We didn't even need the reservation, the park was so empty that day. We ate at Finnegan's during our last trip, and both loved it. I wasn't thrilled about spending money to eat at a restaurant we'd already been to, but they do have good food and the quick-service options at Universal are pretty pathetic.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1715_zpscb614cbc.jpg

The potato leek soup is a must-have, so we both ordered it. The soda bread that they bring you is also delicious. I could have (and should have) just had this for lunch!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1714_zpsb3052e61.jpg

We also both ordered the same entree, the corned beef sandwich. It's made on a baked pretzel roll instead of a more typical bun or roll, which was really delicious. I didn't have much of an appetite after the soup and bread, though, so I hardly ate any of it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1716_zps7b46451d.jpg

The inside of the restaurant is pretty cute.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2524_zps2a375627.jpg

Loved the Christmas decorations :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2523_zps722539a4.jpg

Overall, we enjoyed our lunch here. I just wish I felt like eating more of my actual entree. Our total was only $41.51 including the tip, which I don't think was bad for a theme park restaurant.

I went to Kennedy Space Center a looooooong time ago (1999), back when you could actually pretty much see everything. However, being that I was 8, I remember very little, except the room where they simulate a launch and seeing a bald eagle. The bus driver made a quip that since we weren't at Disney, it was real. ;)

He tried making it clear to me that he wasn't proposing at Disney World, too. He kept making comments about how he couldn't tell people he proposed at Disney World (lol), and so it wasn't going to happen that way. He really threw me off with all of the 'don't-expect-it' comments.

We saw a bald eagle at Kennedy too! We didn't go on the launch simulator this trip, because we did it last time. I like Kennedy, I was just not in the mood for it that day. :)

Part 8: Universal Studios - Sunday Dec. 9th

After our lunch at Finnegan's, we headed straight to the new Despicable Me ride. I loooove that movie!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2516.jpg

The ride is really well done. It's a 3D motion simulator ride, which normally don't bother me at all. It may be that we just had a huge lunch, but this ride got to me a little bit. I may be 29 years old but I sort of wanted to buy a unicorn in the gift shop, lol. I settled for taking a picture of this cute shirt instead.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2527.jpg

I'm not sure but I think we rode the Mummy again after Minion Mayhem. Since we were staying at Royal Pacific, we didn't have to wait in any lines! That came in very handy, because it felt like we stopped a million times in the smoking areas (my fiancé smokes) and that time adds up. So what do I do to kill time while he smokes? Take pictures of pretty Christmas decorations and construction! We saw a lot of construction while we were there (not just at Universal, but Disney too). I think this is going to be the Transformers ride.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2526.jpg

We'd never been Disaster, so that was our next stop. I remember the Earthquake ride from Universal Hollywood, and I think they did a nice job updating it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1717.jpg

I think I took this picture because I liked the palm trees, but it shows you how light the crowds were even later in the day.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1718.jpg

Even though the park was empty, we had been waiting all day for the line to go down for Rip Ride Rockit. You can't use the Express Pass on that ride, unfortunately.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1719.jpg

The line was finally decent (around 20 min.), so on we went. Even though we went on this during our last trip, this lift gets me every time! I chose the same song as I did last trip (Evanescence's Bring Me to Life).

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1722.jpg

I know it's only been a year and a half since our last trip, but I swear Rip Ride Rockit felt jerkier this time around. Ouch! I needed something tame after that, so we went to Twister. Seeing Bill Paxton in the pre-show video is hilarious and totally worth it. :rotfl2: We left Universal Studios for the day after Twister.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1724.jpg

Our original plan was to stick around Universal Studios until 6 p.m. so that we could see Mannheim Steamroller. I love their Christmas music and had been looking forward to it. The problem was that neither one of us felt like sticking around at Universal to wait for the show, because we were dying to go over to Wizarding World of Harry Potter! We decided to skip Mannheim and head over to IOA instead, since we'd already paid for the park-to-park access tickets. I think I took this picture around 5:30 p.m. on our way to IOA. So pretty!

Part 9: Islands of Adventure - Sunday Dec. 9th

The walk from Universal Studios to Islands of Adventure can feel long when you've been on your feet all day, but it was such a nice afternoon!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1726.jpg

The City Walk area was pretty empty, too.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1727.jpg

I think it actually only took us about 5-10 minutes to make it to the entrance to Islands of Adventure. The sun was starting to go down even though it was only a little after 5:30 p.m.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1728.jpg

The ride my fiancé was most excited about for this trip was the updated Spiderman attraction...so that was our first stop at IOA. He couldn't wait to see the updated HD graphics. I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't listened to him talk about it for months, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1729.jpg

After riding Spiderman, we stopped for another smoking break (ugh), near the water by Hulk. I love Hulk but we had other plans for that evening.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1731.jpg

I love this picture of IOA. My fiancé grabbed a beer and we just sat and people watched for a few minutes.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1733.jpg

I pretty quickly decided that I'd had enough people-watching, and needed to get some frozen Butterbeer in my hands ASAP. I love it so much. :lovestruc We quickly made our way to WWoHP, and before long I was enjoying its wonderful delicious-ness.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1737.jpg

We went on what would be the first of many rides on Forbidden Journey during this trip. The sign said 10 min. wait, but I think it was closer to 20. The ride was great, but unfortunately the Dementors got my fiancé's sunglasses! He forgot to take them off of the top of his head and they fell off. :rolleyes2

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1740.jpg

I love this area of the park in the evening.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1738.jpg

Our last ride for the day was Dragon Challenge (Chinese Fireball side). So much fun! We left IOA a little bit before 7 p.m. when the park closed. Overall, we had a great (but long) day at Universal and IOA, and were more than ready for dinner! :thumbsup2

Part 10: Bubba Gump's - Sunday Dec. 9th

We didn't have any dinner reservations that night, but thought about having dinner at Bubba Gump's. I know it's super tourist-y and cheesy but we were in Florida, so why not? My fiancé had never been and I love shrimp. We walked straight to City Walk from IOA, and thankfully didn't have to wait for a table.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1753.jpg

I ordered the shrimp scampi, and ate every single bite. It was delicious, and I was so hungry that I didn't care how overpriced it was.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1754.jpg

My fiancé's dinner had coconut shrimp, tempura shrimp, fried shrimp, and I think just regular shrimp. He thought his food was really good, too. Even though it probably wasn't the best drink option for what we were eating, he also had some red wine.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1756.jpg

Our grand total for dinner was $61.31...ouch :faint:

Don't get me wrong, we had pricier dinners during the trip...but it's Bubba Gump's! After dinner, my fiancé looked for some replacement sunglasses. He ended up buying a cheap pair that he wasn't in love with, but that would work for the rest of the trip.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1757.jpg

I loved being able to take the water taxi back to our hotel after dinner. This picture isn't the best but I like the way the Universal globe sign is all lit up.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1761.jpg

We made it back to our hotel by around 9 p.m. and fell asleep pretty early. It's a good thing we did because we needed it!

Part 11: IOA & Mythos - Monday Dec. 10th

We left our room a little after 10:30 a.m. and headed to Islands of Adventure. Not a bad start time in my book! Our first stop was guest services to see if they had my fiancé's sunglasses (the ones he dropped the day before on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey), but they didn't. :(

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2537.jpg

First ride of the day was The Hulk! I don't know if I'm getting old or if it was just too early in the morning for me, but this felt jerkier too.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2539.jpg

After Hulk, we went on Spiderman again and then turned around and walked through Seuss Landing to get to our lunch destination. Look at how cloudy it was!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2542.jpg

We had 1 p.m. lunch reservations at Mythos. It's supposed to be really good, and neither one of us had been there before. The outside of the building is pretty neat.

I ordered the Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, and I think my fiancé had the Bistro Filet? They were both pretty good, and all total our meal was $42.60 (less than what I was expecting).

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1769.jpg

I didn't want to go back outside after lunch, because of the weather. But we braved it and moved on!

Part 12: IOA & Margaritaville - Monday Dec. 10th

Ok enough lunch pictures, time for some Harry Potter! Sorry about the little hiatus. I have been very busy with work and with wedding planning :lovestruc I think we've decided on October 2013, we have a venue (almost), and I think I found my dress too. All very exciting!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2547-1.jpg

Construction on the new Harry Potter area was in full swing. I know you can't really hide a crane, but seeing it was still kind of a bummer.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2575-1.jpg

I love this snowman. I know it's out year-round but it added to the Christmas feel.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2554-1.jpg

Who can resist Honeyduke's?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2574-1.jpg

The Christmas decorations in Honeyduke's were really pretty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2573-1.jpg

After going on Forbidden Journey a few times (there was no line!), I think we went to the Jurassic Park area to go on River Adventure real quick. I hate the Jurassic Park ride so much, I'm pretty sure I was swearing during the entire drop! I needed something a little more low-key next, so we wandered back through Harry Potter and made our way toward Seuss Landing.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2576-1.jpg

After going on the Cat in the Hat ride, it began pouring. We tried to wait it out in the gift shop, where I ended up buying two of these coffee mugs.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2582-1.jpg

Loved these Christmas decorations!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2583-1.jpg

We're kind of obsessed with Harry Potter, so as soon as the rain let up, we were back in one of our favorite places. We *had* to go on Forbidden Journey again, lol. When I was taking a picture of the castle, I almost missed the Beauxbatons girls go by.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2586-1.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2587-1.jpg

I don't really remember a lot of the specifics of our day, but I know that we stayed in WWoHP for a while.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2593-1.jpg

While we grabbed snacks in Three Broomsticks, we got alerts on our phones that there was a tornado warning in the area, yikes!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1774-1.jpg

I figured if I was going to go endure a tornado, we might as well endure it in Hogwarts, so I know we went back to Forbidden Journey at some point. We also went on Flight of the Hippogriff, which was a lot more fun than I was expecting given that it's a kids' coaster. A bonus is getting to see Hagrid's Hut.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2595-1.jpg

My fiancé wanted to go on Jurassic Park again, so I reluctantly went with him.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2601-1.jpg

That's my fiancé rocking a poncho, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2603-1.jpg

We decided to hit all the water rides at Islands of Adventure next. It really sucks that you have to pay for the lockers for the water rides! Definitely worth it though. I'm a complete cheapskate on stuff like that, but I would not hesitate to buy the locker again. Dudley's was first, then Popeye's. I laughed SO ridiculously hard on Popeye's. It's a river ride like Kali River Rapids, but they are much more focused on getting you drenched. Here's a picture of Dudley's, which was fun too.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2606-1.jpg

We called it a day after that, because we were drenched and I needed a margarita! Luckily, Margaritaville has margaritas, lol. We decided to have dinner there at the last minute.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1780.jpg

Yes, my dear readers...this was my dinner. Super healthy. :thumbsup2

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1782.jpg

Definitely did not finish eating this  Never having been to Margaritaville, I wasn't prepared for the atmosphere. I just wanted my drink and nachos, and wanted the performers to just do their thing away from our table. Thankfully, they did.

After Margaritaville, we went back to our hotel room, changed, and then took the water taxi back to City Walk to go see Skyfall.

All in all, a really fun day...and we were going to Disney the next day so that made me even happier.

Part 13: Loews Royal Pacific - Tuesday Dec. 11th

I woke up a little sad that it was our last day at Universal, but it was going to be our first night at Disney so that more than made up for my sadness. Feeling nostalgic for the last two days (lol), I went a little crazy taking pictures of our hotel.

The pretty courtyard near the lobby.

I got a bit behind, but I just got caught up! :goodvibes I really love your Universal updates because we used to go to Universal as part of every Disney vacation, but we had stopped going recently because of having DS along. We didn't think it was worth paying for us to go and for him to spend most of the day sitting in the stroller! Now that he's older, we are spending a day there on our October trip, and I'm SO excited! I absolutely ADORE Harry Potter, so it's really been killing me that I've not been able to experience WWoHP yet. I think DS will love Seuss Landing, and might be tall enough for Spiderman!

Love the photos of the Royal Pacific too. I've stayed both there and the Hard Rock Hotel, and RP is my favorite of the two. :thumbsup2 Such a pretty resort! The landscaping is great and the courtyard is beautiful! Plus, it's so great being within walking distance of both parks.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to ask, they charge for the lockers now? Or is it just for the water parks? I thought they used to be free, at least for a certain amount of time. Is that not the case anymore?

The lockers are still free, except the ones by the water rides where you get wet. We paid for a locker because we were going on Popeye's and the Dudley's.

You will LOVE Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I hope your son is tall enough to go on Spiderman, it's awesome.

I'm glad to hear that you also loved Royal Pacific. It's the only Universal hotel I've stayed at, and I want to try Hard Rock next time. My fiancé doesn't want to try anywhere else because he loved Royal Pacific so much.

Part 14: Lunch at Lombard's, Universal, & IOA -
Tuesday Dec. 11th

Bet you thought we were done with Universal? Not quite! We weren't planning to drive to WDW until that evening, and we had an extra day on our Universal tickets. While I think 3 days is a great amount of time for Universal and IOA for your first trip to Universal, it was a little much for our second trip. We still had fun, but man was I dying to get to WDW.

After checking out of the hotel and storing our luggage at the front, we took the boat to Universal Studios. After a quick ride on Revenge of the Mummy, it was time for lunch at Lombard's.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2617_zps03b5d98b.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2616_zpsacde3b9b.jpg

I love Christmas decorations, even when you're in Florida and it's warm outside.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2615_zps800ae826.jpg

I ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese, which oddly came with a side of sweet potato fries. I probably could have changed the side and should have but it's a little late for that now! My food was just ok. I don't remember what my fiancé had but he liked his food. Mine was just way too heavy/rich and not in a good way. I didn't eat much of it. Our lunch was $56.51, which was a little painful considering how little I enjoyed it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1785_zps1086361b.jpg

After lunch, we did a TV survey and each got paid $10 for it. That took away a little of the sting from our overpriced lunch :) They were screening commercials for the TV show 1600 Penn. It took about a half hour and was interesting/fun. Maybe THIS should be my new job, because I'm not crazy about the attorney thing.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2620_zps7fe57a2a.jpg

Ready for something more exciting, we hit Rip Ride Rockit twice in a row. The line was pretty nonexistent, thankfully (you can't use Express Pass on it). Can't remember which songs I chose. Someday, I'll have to try to remember to write down the secret song codes. After that, we went on Despicable Me / Minion Mayhem. It's such a cute ride, but I definitely recommend watching the movie before you go on it so you're familiar with the story line and characters. We own it and have watched it multiple times, even though we don't have kids. It's so cute :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2628_zpsaccbf200.jpg

After leaving Universal Studios and before heading in to Islands of Adventure, we stopped at Guest Relations again to see if they had my fiancé's sunglasses (that he lost on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey). No luck, so we moved onward to Islands of Adventure.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2630_zpsfa683e31.jpg

Before this trip, I told my fiancé that I would go on either Dr. Doom's Fear Fall or Tower of Terror. I'm terrified of falling/drop rides, but have always felt bad about not going on them and wanted to try it. I just couldn't bring myself to do it, though. I had read that Dr. Doom was much tamer than Tower of Terror as far as dropping goes and had decided that that would be the ride I tried, but I chickened out. My fiancé went on without me. He said it actually wasn't bad at all, and was kind of underwhelming.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2631_zps64d94773.jpg

After Dr. Doom, Spiderman, and Jurassic Park, we headed back to Wizarding World of Harry Potter to go on Dragon Challenge since it was closed the day before. We went on both tracks (so much fun!), and then got in line for Ollivander's.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2638_zpsbf092915.jpg

Ollivander's was cute, but the guy that was picked didn't speak English very well and was just not in to it. Awkward! After that, we went to the Owl Post and picked up some postcards to send back home.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2642_zpsceb9030d.jpg

We had to send one to our pets to let them know the good news. I know it's super corny but we refer to ourselves as mommy and daddy when we talk to them, which is why the postcard says what it does...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2640_zps6e59785d.jpg

We did some shopping and I took random pictures of Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2646_zpsad3382d1.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2643_zps351a7811.jpg

Soon enough, it was time to leave for the day. That didn't stop us from doing more shopping on the way out.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2656_zpsa9e25a9a.jpg

I bought this cute Grinch ornament. Don't mind the Hufflepuff lanyard in the picture, lol. I bought that on our first day at Universal. They are just so handy!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1908_zpsb87e926c.jpg

He's a mean one...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2654_zpsc28dff5f.jpg

That officially wraps up the Universal/Islands of Adventure portion of our trip. :santa:

Part 15: Port Orleans Riverside - Tuesday Dec. 11th

DISNEY!!!:santa:

The drive to WDW felt so slow, but it's really a quick drive. We checked in at Port Orleans Riverside around 7 p.m. The lobby wasn't too crowded, I didn't have to wait in line. I love the pink chandelier.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2657_zpse401c419.jpg

Can you tell I'm obsessed with Christmas decorations?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2659_zps033544b2.jpg

Of course, I had to ask for the buttons. :lovestruc

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2669_zps6e07d2ae.jpg

After a quick check-in, we were off to find our room. We got so lost looking for it, it was ridiculous. I think we must have walked around several of the buildings by the time we found our room.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2660_zps80eb6072.jpg

I couldn't really complain though, because they gave us every room request! We booked a king bed room, and then requested one with a water view and one in a mansion building. Our room (#8416) was on the third floor of Acadian House (Building 80), overlooking the river. The best part about it was that it was right next to the elevator area and stairs. This was great considering my fiancé's knee issues.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2661_zps89f1d160.jpg

I've stayed in moderates before, but never with a king bed. It definitely made the room feel larger.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2664_zpsd6ae47d1.jpg

I loved all the storage space in the bathroom area.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2666_zps4eb1fb35.jpg

My only complaint was the lighting in the room. It was pretty mediocre, at best.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2667_zpsa6539855.jpg

I'm so happy the rooms were recently refurbished, and that they had new TVs.
The little seating area and table actually came in handy.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2663_zps96bc48c4.jpg

It wouldn't be a trip report without a picture of the Mickey towel.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2670_zpsf666e5b0.jpg

This was the fountain we passed on the way from the parking lot to/from the room.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2673_zpsabedf788.jpg

We were so excited to finally be in WDW. We spent a few minutes getting settled in our room, but tried to hurry because we had tickets to MVMCP for that night. :thumbsup2

Looks like a fun last day in Universal (except for that overpriced lunch!). You're right, 3 days at Universal can end up being too much especially when it is a slow time of year or you have Front of the Line privileges and it doesn't take you long to ride everything. 2 full days is plenty.

We did one of those tv surveys too when we were last there. DH was actually trying to get the survey TM's to come over and ask him so he could do it! And he didn't even know you were given $10 each, he just wanted to watch it. We watched an episode of Community. He spent so long tying up his comments about the show that I had a nice conversation with the lady who paid us about the then upcoming WWoHP. :rotfl: He took the job very seriously!

Love your WWoHP pics! We always buy DS a postcard from every vacation, so we will definitely have to get one there to commemorate his first trip to UO/IoA!

The Port Orleans resorts are SO beautiful! We had a king room for the first time ever on our honeymoon at POFQ, and you're so right, it does make the room feel more spacious! The room pics are beautiful. Love that headboard! And the Christmas decorations...LOVE those too!

Part 16: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party -
Tuesday Dec. 11th

That's right, we went to three theme parks in one day. Neither one of us had been to WDW during the holidays before, so we were both really excited about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! We didn't really know what to expect, but we heard there was fake snow and free hot chocolate. The party started at 7 p.m. but we didn't get there until about 8:15 p.m. Of course, everyone had lined up for the parade. We didn't realize there was another parade later that night, so we found a spot to watch it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2689_zps0d569db5.jpg

You get a cool exclusive wristband, so you know it has to be fun.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2682_zps9db95919.jpg

The parade was really cute. They pipe out scents as parade floats go by, it was very Disney. I'm going to spend a little moment ranting and complaining about parade etiquette and the women shoving their cameras in our face to get better pictures of the parade. OMG our patience was wearing thin. Why can't they wait the extra two seconds it takes for the float to be closer to their line of sight? I think what made it worse was that they were also the adults who stand on the curb, rather than sit, so others behind can't see as well. I realize they got there first and probably saved that spot for over an hour, but I still think it's inconsiderate to other people (especially those of us who are 5'1", lol). I certainly didn't expect or feel entitled to a great viewing spot because we sort of just walked up to the parade, but I still find it weird that adults want to stand on the curb and not sit. Aaah, parade politics. We were officially in Disney though! :) We still enjoyed the parade, it definitely put us in the holiday mood.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2692_zpsfd73c1ed.jpg

SANTA!! I KNOW HIM! :santa: Sorry, a little Elf reference.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2708_zps07d5027d.jpg

After the parade, we decided to have dinner at Pecos Bill's. It was my first meal on the dining plan so it took a minute to figure out how it all worked. When they gave me a taco shell with just meat in it, I looked at the CM and asked where the rest of my taco salad was? lol. I didn't realize you added the toppings yourself.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1786_zpse2a3cbcd.jpg

As we were eating, we could hear the fireworks going off so we rushed outside to see them. It was so foggy out that night, none of my fireworks pictures turned out very well. I'm still not sure if Holiday Wishes is exclusive to MVMCP, does anyone know? After Wishes, we went on Pirates of the Caribbean and then headed to Tomorrowland in search of hot chocolate.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2730_zpsdd341d26.jpg

Yay for free stuff! It was actually pretty chilly that night, so this was nice. We should have saved a QS credit and just had cookies and hot chocolate for dinner. Perfectly acceptable right?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2728_zps37e141e9.jpg

After riding Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear, New Fantasyland was next on our list. More specifically, LeFou's Brew. I liked it, but it was really sweet and I was so not hungry at that point. It was a good use of a snack credit, but after drinking about half we got in line for the Little Mermaid.

The line area was honestly the best part of the Little Mermaid ride, and it looked especially cool at night. There really wasn't a wait at all (we walked on, despite the 20 min. posted wait time), so we didn't get to pay too much attention to the line area. I'm not complaining though, the lines for the Little Mermaid were out of control later in the trip. I really love this movie so much! The ride was cute, just not very impressive. I was also surprised and annoyed by how many people were taking flash pictures during the ride. Unfortunately this is something we encountered several times throughout our trip.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2745_zps8399c646.jpg

We went on Peter Pan next to take advantage of the shorter wait time, and last but not least Haunted Mansion. Haunted Mansion is probably my favorite ride at MK, so this made me happy. Definitely not as happy as THIS beautiful sight made me though. :lovestruc

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2769_zpsbecd4789.jpg

Sooner rather than later, it was time to leave for the night. I think it was around 12:45 a.m. at this point, and it was still pretty crowded.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2774_zps0d8a692e.jpg

Do you think the little light on this was out by accident or intentionally? Doesn't seem like something Disney would overlook.

Overall, we enjoyed MVMCP but we didn't really take advantage of anything except for the parade, hot chocolate, decorations, and the shorter lines. We walked by and overheard some of the other holiday shows and saw some sort of character dance party going on inside one of the dining areas, but we're not really into all of that. I'm not sure we would spend the $ to do this again, but I'm glad we tried it.

Part 17: PO Riverside & Lunch at Mama Melrose's -
Wednesday Dec. 12th

After our late night at MVMCP, we slept in and didn't leave our room until about 12:30 p.m. I woke up a few hours before my fiancé so I took some pictures of Port Orleans. This is the view from right outside of our room.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2780_zps64a7afe1.jpg

Our room was on the top floor of Acadian House, right on the left of the stairs opening. The location was very convenient.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2781_zps2deedc5a.jpg

Port Orleans Riverside is very peaceful and serene, we liked it a lot. The only thing I wasn't liking was the weather.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2782_zps738b4830.jpg

We obviously took our time getting to Hollywood Studios that day. By 1:00 p.m., we were finally on the tram in the parking lot.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2784_zps1bee1beb.jpg

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2785_zpsa93c0106.jpg

After stopping at Starring Rolls Cafe for some much-needed coffee, we arrived at our lunch destination.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2789_zps88d6cf7b.jpg

We had an ADR, but I think we still waited about 30 minutes or so for our table. I know it doesn't look like it in this picture, but they were packed.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2792_zps2c669249.jpg

We were on the Fantasmic Dining package, so I thought we had a separate menu but was happy to find out that we didn't. One of the appetizers (the antipasto) was supposed to be for 2 people, but the waitress was nice enough to let us order that in addition to another appetizer (the mozarrella and tomatoes). It was all sooo good!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2794_zps529fe94c.jpg

This was my lunch. I'm not sure exactly but I think it was the penne a la vodka? My fiancé ordered the strip steak, which he was really impressed with (and he's picky about steak). People don't seem to rave about Mama Melrose's here on the DIS, but we loved it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2795_zpsa9d743e1.jpg

Here's the dessert plate that came with the Fantasmic package. We hardly ate any of it, but the parts we did eat were good.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2796_zps7de3bf42.jpg

Overall, we are picky about Italian food and honestly really enjoyed our lunch here. It definitely exceeded my expectations and we're planning to eat here again during our next trip (mostly because we actually missed Fantasmic that day, but I'll get to that soon enough).

Part 18: Hollywood Studios -
Wednesday Dec. 12th

After our lunch at Mama Melrose's, we were ready to explore Hollywood Studios. We only spent a few hours there during our last trip at night during evening Extra Magic Hours. My fiancé had never been during the day time and hadn't seen much of the park.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2797_zps70bfed06.jpg

We went on Star Tours first, I love that ride! We had grabbed fast passes for it before lunch, so it worked out well. After Star Tours, we made our way to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I think we had to wait in the standby line because we had grabbed fast passes for Star Tours earlier, but it less than 30 min. if I remember correctly.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2805_zps2a5694d3.jpg

It started POURING soon after. Even though we had ponchos, we had to hide out under an awning for a little bit.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2809_zps91d97b44.jpg

After the rain let up a little, we raced over to the Lights Motor Action show. Neither one of us had seen it before, and it was the last show of the day. We saw a really pretty rainbow during the show. We liked the stunt show, and liked it even more because we were sitting undercover. :thumbsup2

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2814_zpsd01122ba.jpg

AFter LMA, we stopped at Pizza Planet so my fiancé could grab a beer. I wanted to go see Muppet Vision, since it's right there, but we decided to go check out the wait for Tower of Terror instead.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2821_zps3acf9ecf.jpg

The wait was pretty minimal. Remember how I told my fiancé I would try Tower of Terror or Dr. Doom's Fear fall at Universal? Well, I chickened out again. I really wanted to want to go on Tower of Terror, but just looking at it gave me such anxiety. :scared: I sadly told him I couldn't do it. He had never been on it before, and went on it without me. He said that it wasn't that bad, that the drops were smooth and it was more like swaying. He also said that he sat next to 4-year-old twins and thought that it was a little sad that I couldn't go on it but they managed to do it! Thanks hon :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2823_zps50439845.jpg

In the grand tradition of running back and forth across the park, we then went back to Muppet Vision 3D. My fiancé loved the Muppets as a kid, so I knew he would like it (and he did).

So, remember how we had the Fantasmic dining package at Mama Melrose's? Well, they tell you to arrive at a certain time. I told my fiancé we would be fine showing up late, because I thought I had read somewhere on the DIS that it wasn't an issue. I was definitely wrong and they told us to go to the regular line, which was for standing-room only. Oops. That marks another trip to WDW without seeing Fantasmic. Someday I will see it!! We decided to go on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster again instead, since the lines weren't that bad.

Before long, it was time to check out the Osborne Lights! I knew this would cheer me up about missing Fantasmic.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2833_zps9212428d.jpg

It was so ridiculously crowded, aaaaaah. Don't even want to think about what this is like as it gets closer to Christmas.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2835_zps4305ce9b.jpg

I like the not-so-hidden Mickey in the tree.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2841_zpsb8d701d7.jpg

This really was so cool, pictures don't do it justice. The music that they synchronize the lights with is pretty neat, too.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2845_zpsd1ee28d6.jpg

We went on Star Tours again before leaving for the night. Hollywood Studios closed at 8:00 p.m., and we had an ADR that night for the Yachtsman Steakhouse at 8:45 p.m. so we couldn't stick around too long.

Sounds like you had a great night at the MVMCP! The parade & fireworks are so great. To answer your question about Holiday Wishes (and the parade too), they are party exclusive until closer to Christmas when the parties end, then it is the regular nighttime entertainment. I love Wishes any night of the week, but Holiday Wishes is so beautiful!

Great picture of the rainbow over LMA! pixiedust:

It looks like you had a nice meal at Mama Melrose's, but what a bummer about missing out on Fantasmic after doing the package! The Osborne Lights is not at all a bad consolation though. :goodvibes My favorite Christmas event in WDW, by a mile!

Aaaah, I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated this! I've been so busy with work and wedding planning. Despite having helped many friends and family members plan weddings, I underestimated how much time it would take to plan ours even as small as it's going to be.

The good thing about being so busy is that I haven't been very focused on the fact that we are going back to WDW in a little over a month! :cool1:

khertz: That's good to know about Holiday Wishes :santa: I loved the Osborne lights, I think they were my favorite Christmas thing at WDW (except for the castle).

Part 19: Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse - Wednesday Dec. 12th

We changed our dining reservations so many times before our trip. My fiancé loves steak, and since we went to Shula's during our first trip, we decided to try Yachtsman.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1790_zps37291ddf.jpg

This is right by the entrance to the restaurant. Just in case you didn't know what kind of food to expect at a steakhouse :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1804_zps66a99776.jpg

We were seated in this cool area of the restaurant, overlooking the pool. I actually took this picture as we were leaving, which is why it's so empty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1803_zpsf3d7e403.jpg

The ceiling above where our table was. Very cool.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1792_zps368a588c.jpg

I think was the Yachtsman version of a wedge salad. It was DELICIOUS.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1793_zpsf200db20.jpg

I ordered the filet mignon. I'm not a big steak person but I ate every last bite of this. OMG.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1795_zps64c9ca37.jpg

My fiancé had the T-bone steak, and thought it was wonderful.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1794_zpse5c19ba7.jpg

Apparently I take pictures of wine after I've had a few glasses. I made quite a little mess of the tablecloth.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1797_zps932eaa97.jpg

Dessert! Creme Brűlée.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1800_zps5954516b.jpg

I love sorbet, and the sorbet at Yachtsman did not disappoint.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1801_zpse8793110.jpg

After our dinner, I wanted to curl up on one of these and not move. Ever.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2860_zps6474c9cf.jpg

Sadly, we were not staying at the Yacht Club and had to go back to our humble little moderate hotel. :) Of course, I had to take a picture of the Christmas tree in the Yacht Club lobby before we left.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2865_zpsea0792a7.jpg

Overall, we loved the food at the Yachtsman. I think it was my fiancé's favorite meal of the trip. Total cost? $87.19 + 4 table service credits (2 each). Ouch.

Part 20: Animal Kingdom - Thursday Dec. 13th

Updates are long overdue! I've been so busy with work (trial after trial :crazy2: if anyone is thinking about going to law school, I will happily talk you out of it). We also just got back from WDW! Because of planning issues with this trip, we had some plane tickets that had to be used before a certain date and we decided to do quick trip back to WDW. It was really weird to be back after 4 months, but in a wonderful way.

So when I left off, I wrote about our wonderful dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Our plan for the next day was Animal Kingdom. We got to Animal Kingdom around 12pm and it was FREEZING. Well, not technically but it was pretty cold. This isn't the best picture but it was really cloudy. I think I may have taken this picture on the way out that day, but still.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2958_zps214c101d.jpg

After grabbing fast passes for Expedition Everest, we grabbed lunch. My fiancé wanted to eat at Flame Tree Barbecue, so that's where we went.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2872_zpsf3eae89d.jpg

I love Flame Tree but it just didn't sound great at the moment. I abandoned him in search of pizza.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2874_zps5e5370e1.jpg

Pizzafari isn't exactly close to Flame Tree, but I grabbed my food and took it back to Flame Tree to join him for lunch. I ended up just ditching the disgusting looking dessert because I didn't plan on eating it anyway and there was no way I could carry all of my lunch back to Flame Tree without tossing it. This was our first time using the dining plan and it felt so wasteful throwing food away. The rest of my lunch was great, though.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1806_zpsc0ef5439.jpg

We were joined by these guys during lunch, of course.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2876_zps5d355e30.jpg

After lunch, we went on our first ride of the day!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2877_zps91755b62.jpg

After Dinosaur, we went on Primeval Whirl since it was closed during our first trip. The ride broke when we were on it, so we had lots of time to take pictures of this view. I was getting nervous that we were going to miss our FP return time for Everest...

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2879_zpsefcde6ec.jpg

...but thankfully we didn't!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2885_zps70f802c3.jpg

After Everest, we went to the Pangani Exploration Trail. We didn't do any of the trails during our first trip, and they are great! I was excited to show them to my fiancé.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2889_zps305c6a84.jpg

I think he enjoyed it, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2892_zps392a3f33.jpg

Hello Mr. Gorilla.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2896_zps4e173b8c.jpg

On our way to grab fast passes for Kilimanjaro Safaris, I went to check out the gift shops. Thankfully for my wallet, I take pictures of stuff that I like instead of buying (most of the time). Like these shot glasses and picture frames, how cute are these?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2897_zpsfd66cafe.jpg

I know WDW will pack these bamboo plants up so they are easy to take home but it still seems like a pain. These elephants are so cute.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2899_zpsf6edeffc.jpg

We tried getting fast passes but the machine broke. Here's my fiancé and the CM working on it, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2901_zpsdfcd333c.jpg

After finally getting our fast passes for Kilimanjaro, we went back to our favorite ride: Everest!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2905_zps5d35c027.jpg

I love this picture from Everest, you can see so much. We ended up riding twice in a row because someone gave us their fast passes as we were leaving. Love it when that happens!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2907_zps153c9a57.jpg

During our first trip to Animal Kingdom, my fiancé didn't know that Kali River Rapids existed and I didn't feel like getting wet so I didn't tell him, lol. This time, I couldn't get away with that. Most of the rafts were empty because the weather was not great.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2915_zps9091b2a1.jpg

The Mahajarah Jungle Trek was next, where we saw this guy.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2925_zps628731cb.jpg

I think the park closed at 5pm that day, and we ended up going on Kilimanjaro at 4:45pm.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2930_zpscb25bd38.jpg

Most of the animals were not out, but we did see a lot of interaction between the lions.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2951_zps4e1313f4.jpg

We also got to see the new zebras.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2954_zpsc23e49af.jpg

Leaving the park, we saw soooo many birds in the trees. I've never seen anything like it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2956_zps3c666b66.jpg

We eventually said goodbye to Animal Kingdom and made our way to Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. The Christmas Tree at Animal Kingdom was so pretty, it would have been neat to see it in the dark.

Part 21: Dinner at Jiko - Thursday Dec. 13th

I was looking forward to our dinner at Jiko more than any other meal of our trip. Our reservation was at 6:20pm but we got there a little early. My camera sucks, but this is obviously the lobby for Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was BEAUTIFUL. I must stay here one day.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2965_zpsc250f062.jpg

This is the window in the main lobby, it's so pretty. We wandered around the hotel a little, checking out the campfire area outside and trying to see some animals.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2964_zps39ab4a0e.jpg

After we checked in at Jiko, we were seated pretty much immediately.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2973_zps4b3f6dbd.jpg

We ordered the cheese plate appetizer. Delicious!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1808_zps03b3c89f.jpg

I decided to try the "Chermoula-roasted Nigerian Prawns - English pea nage and saffron rice with orange and olive salad". This was pretty bad, actually. I had to force myself to even eat part of it. I don't love peas, and the spices in this were bizarre, but that wasn't the issue. The prawns were just incredibly dry and tough. Very disappointing.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1812_zpsa3d77874.jpg

My fiancé ordered the "Seared Barbarie Duck Breast - Potato and Spinach Masala, Royal Trumpet Mushrooms, and Port Emulsion". He loved his, so at least one of us was happy.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_1811_zps76d90848.jpg

We realized that the cheese plate we had as an appetizer was also part of the dessert menu. We asked if we could just count our appetizer as our dessert (for the dining plan), which they let us do.

I had to take more pictures of the Christmas tree on the way out. It was just ridiculously pretty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2963_zpsdd1b5097.jpg

I know we'll go back to Jiko. I want to try a different entree, and my fiancé loved his food. I just wish that this dinner hadn't been such a letdown, at 2 TS each. We ended up spending $25 out of pocket for the tip I think, which wasn't too bad (we did have free dining!).

Part 22: Port Orleans Riverside - Thursday Dec. 13th

The nice thing about Animal Kingdom closing earlier than the other parks is that it sort of forced us to eat an earlier dinner and then relax at our hotel. My fiancé's knee was getting to him, and we had laundry to do.

I got a little lost looking for the laundry room/quiet pool between Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace, but it was actually not that far from our room.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3007_zpsb51e7987.jpg

If anyone is curious what the laundry room looks like, here you go.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2977_zps21043bcc.jpg

I decided to kill some time over in the gift shop while waiting for the laundry. I love these chairs outside the lobby. I wish I had a front porch to put these on.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2985_zps4e756947.jpg

In case you forget where you are :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2986_zps1a74c1eb.jpg

I heard some noise and quickly realized that Yeehaw Bob was performing! I had heard great things about the show but didn't plan on arranging our schedule around it.

I love Disney Christmas ornaments!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2999_zps223307fc.jpg

More pictures of things I didn't buy but wanted to.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_2997_zps5e29b400.jpg

I DID buy these ornaments (the ones one the middle shelf next to the hat), even though we already have so many Disney ornaments.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3000_zps7db93d99.jpg

We also have a ridiculous amount of Disney coffee mugs at our house. So I just took a picture of these too.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3002_zps493675fe.jpg

After I'd done enough browsing in the gift shop, I went back to the room. The quickest way to our room was over Ol' Man Island. This isn't a great picture of the main theme pool there, but the pool area was pretty cute.

Part 23: Epcot - Friday Dec. 14th

Oh boy, where did I even leave off with this? It's been so long! I'm pretty sure it's time for some Epcot pictures!

On Friday, we didn't arrive at Epcot until about 1pm. We tried to get there earlier, we really did, but you have to remember that we flew from a different time zone and are just not morning people.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3012_zps7017ba76.jpg

First stop was to try to get Fast Passes for Soarin'. I was shocked that they still had some! I had to take picture as proof that these things actually exist, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3014_zps6f23d4f8.jpg

It was such a beautiful day! Yay for Disney and sunshine.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3024_zpsb94e8af0.jpg

We had planned to eat lunch at Tangierine Cafe. Neither one of us had been there before. The little Morocco area of World Showcase is so cute, I'd never really spent time there before.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3032_zps126ad8e0.jpg

Our lunch! I didn't really care for the baklava but everything else was delicious. I highly recommend using this place for a quick-service credit, you get so much food. My fiancé wanted to have dinner there that night too, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3028_zpsbf838ac7.jpg

We sort of just wandered around that area of World Showcase for a bit after lunch.

Some clouds rolling in? Nooo.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3033_zpsb6e7728b.jpg

Off to the UK next.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3039_zpsdd69fa54.jpg

My new engagement ring and the Princess Diana/Kate Middleton replica ring.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3041_zps768a94b8.jpg

So very British. Love!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3045_zps88d15125.jpg

After the UK, we went to Canada so I could see the waterfall in person. In all my past trips to Epcot, I didn't know that thing even existed. It's very pretty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3046_zpsafacd1ea.jpg

I'm from the Pacific NW so I had to check this store out. I loved all the Christmas decorations.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3048_zpsad53f251.jpg

I also bought this shirt, lol. I know it really has nothing to do with WDW, but I love Canada! Growing up just a few hours from the US-Canadian border, I've made numerous trips to Canada and just love it.

:thumbsup2

I never did do a trip report from this trip.....but I had to comment on Royal Pacific Hotel. We LOVED it. I don't know how Hard Rock could be better but I hear the younger crowd likes it mainly because of the pool areas? The walk to the parks is gorgeous and that boat ride....so calming, too! It's cheaper that Hard Rock too........

Okay, I'm off to read the rest. I must have gotten side tracked from reading people's TRs but I find it fun to do it now. I'm afraid if I tried to do my own TR I will have forgotten a lot (although I did take notes and took a crapload of pictures)......

We loved Universal/Islands of Adventure. We'd been to IOA before but didn't have time that trip to make it to both parks.....and I must say I enjoyed Universal more than I expected. It's a pain (and not to mention so much more costly) to try and do this side of the city AND Disney.....but WWoHP got the best of us (and to think a whole new expansion to HP will be open). We're doing Disneyland this December 2013, wondering when we'll make it back to Florida for WDW......

We changed our dining reservations so many times before our trip. My fiancé loves steak, and since we went to Shula's during our first trip, we decided to try Yachtsman.

Apparently I take pictures of wine after I've had a few glasses. I made quite a little mess of the tablecloth.

Overall, we loved the food at the Yachtsman. I think it was my fiancé's favorite meal of the trip. Total cost? $87.19 + 4 table service credits (2 each). Ouch.
We had reservations at Yachtsman on the next night (thursday).....we arrived for our meal and felt slightly underdressed since we had come straight from Epcot......our reservations were for 7:40 and by 8:15 pm we were still not seated (and actually this was ok because our lunch that day was at Le Cellier and we weren't seated for that meal until nearly 3pm).......so several of us waiting for our table asked to be released from our reservations. Bottom line, we missed Yachtsman this trip. So your meal was $87 plus 4 table credits? Oh yeah, that wine....and tip.....gotcha. The thing about being on the dining plan and eating expensive meals is the expensive tips :)

I've got another page of your report to read.....I guess by now you have made another trip to the World.....and you have wedding plans to occupy your time!

ksromack - thanks for reading! I hope your Disneyland trip is wonderful, I absolutely love Disneyland. I agree about the expensive tips! I think most of that was tip because we probably bought the cheapest bottle of wine that they had, lol.

Part 24: More Epcot - Friday Dec. 14th

So, in 'real world' news I just got back from Disneyland! I spent all day yesterday at Disneyland and California Adventure (solo...eeek). I had to go to California for work and of course couldn't stay away. My feet are so sore and blistered and I'm dealing with post-Disney withdrawals. What better way to cure that than to spend time here? I left off with Epcot pictures, so back to Epcot!

One thing I should mention about our Epcot day was that it was the same day as the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. As we were waiting in line to get through the turnstiles earlier in the day, my fiancé was reading the news on his phone and told me what had happened. Even though I didn't know much about it at that point, it was heartbreaking and definitely changed the mood of our day at Epcot. I was so grateful to be at WDW that day, of all days, but also feeling guilty about enjoying our day too.

When I left off with pictures, we were leaving the Canada area of World Showcase and making our way toward Future World. Specifically, Mission Space. Not really my favorite, but my fiancé likes it and I can handle it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3051_zpsa87f5605.jpg

We stumbled upon Club Cool next. Neither one of us had been there before. I had heard about it here, but never bothered to look for it and didn't really know where it was in Epcot.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3052_zps64ed259d.jpg

I regret going inside because my fiancé discovered and ended up buying these Coke glasses. Let me explain a little. McDonald's sometime sells similar glasses to these, and when they last did that, my fiancé stocked up. We have lived together since 2006 and these Coke glasses, along with leftover glasses from our college days, have become our 'everyday' glasses. So we don't have nice normal regular glasses, but we have loads of Coke glasses. We didn't need more. We also have zero storage in our kitchen. Regardless, we left Club Cool that day with more. Le sigh.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3058_zps5bbecfc8.jpg

I wish that he could just take pictures of the things he likes, not buy them. Like I did with these Lip Smackers. I have loved Lip Smackers since before I can remember, but I knew the last thing I needed was more lip stuff.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/IMG_3055_zps9d29d293.jpg

I do sort of regret not buying this tank top. I would have only used it to sleep in, but it's so cute. I have casually looked for it in recent trips but haven't seen it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3057_zpsc7f464e6.jpg

Club Cool is right by the ice cream place at Epcot (does it have an official name?). One of my favorite things about Christmas is Dryer's (Edy's) Peppermint Ice Cream, and I had a feeling they would have it. Plus, I had lots of snack credits to use. Well, I was right! Unfortunately, I hardly made a dent in it. Without getting into too much detail, I had recently started a medication that killed my appetite. As odd as it was to not devour this stuff, I sadly only took a few bites.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3061_zps6541477f.jpg

We always end up in Mouse Gears at Epcot (who doesn't?). We picked all of this stuff out intending to use a discount (10%? Can't remember) from a receipt we had. We didn't notice that you had to use the discount during certain times of day, so we sadly returned everything we had picked out fully intending to buy it all later during the right time. I think I took this picture because the kid in me secretly wants to buy stuffed animals, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3064_zps0609d6f0.jpg

One of the things we had picked out (and returned) was this cute Jiminy Cricket ornament. By the time we were ready to use our discount at the end of the trip, at Magic Kingdom, they didn't have the ornament. We ended up buying it when we went back to WDW a few months later though, thankfully.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3063_zpsfdd61ec9.jpg

The fountains outside of Mouse Gear are so pretty at night.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3068_zps4c77e2f1.jpg

After enough shopping (and returning), we went to the Living Seas. Yay!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3070_zpscc1f325f.jpg

I also took my fiancé on Spaceship Earth. He had never been on it before. I had, but I don't remember the pictures they take? We cracked up over our pictures, it was hilarious. He really liked the attraction itself, too. He's a history buff so I'm not surprised.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3081_zpse0a853bd.jpg

I don't have many pictures from it, but after Spaceship Earth we grabbed coffee and checked out the Christmas Tree (my picture of Epcot's tree is horribly blurry, sad). Then it was time to use our fast passes for Soarin', which we happily did. We also squeezed in another ride on Mission Space before heading back to World Showcase for dinner.

 I have only ridden Mission Space once! I vow to never ride it again. I don't recall there being different levels of the ride when we rode it last. Must have been when it first opened....but I swear it took me a good 4 hours to feel "normal" again!

Yeah for the quick trip to DL/DCA! We go in 90 or so days and I'm beyond excited!

When Mission Space first opened they didn't have the levels. I went on it with my now-ex and he got sick. This trip I actually listened the warnings and kept my head back, and brought a piece of candy to suck on during the whole thing. I think those things helped.

I'm glad I got to go to DL/DCA, it had been far too long (10 years)! You will have a blast.

Part 25: Dinner at Teppan Edo and Epcot - Thursday Dec. 14th

Our dining reservation at Teppan Edo was for 9:20. I know that sounds late for dinner but remember that we came from a different time zone (MST). We're also just late-night people anyway. Neither one of us had been to Teppan Edo before. We were seated really quickly, like within a minute or two of arriving. I honestly can't remember what we ordered. I think either the steak or the steak and shrimp. Whatever we ended up with, it was delicious! The only thing is the portion size. They are on the small side, even for non-Disney food. Oh, and the green tea ice cream. Gross.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3097_zps0d2c2e6e.jpg

You can't help but overhear conversations when you're eating with other people like this. So my fiancé overheard the people next to us and quickly figured out that they were attorneys (as are we). They were really nice, but my fiancé spent the whole dinner chatting with them, and with the seating arrangements it (I was on the end) it was hard to join in.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3098_zpsb2d02326.jpg

Dinner was fabulous! We planned to pay for this meal out-of-pocket but forgot so we ended up using dining credits for it. After dinner, we went on Maelstrom. This was a new ride for both of us, and I thought it was cute. Really, we were on our way to check out the new Test Track though. The line was longer than we cared to wait but we also didn't want to miss it. I think it was about 30 min. Plenty of time to check out the new queue.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3111_zps4be1c638.jpg

The new Test Track was cute, but I don't really understand why they felt the need to completely re-vamp it. I know there was a change in sponsorship and all that, but it was fine to begin with and I don't think it was that outdated. Anyway! We decided to try to go on Soarin' one more time after Test Track. By this time, it was about 12:30 a.m. The wait wasn't too bad at that point, but I don't remember exactly. Epcot closed at 1:00 a.m. so we were in EMH by then.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/IMG_3117_zps616a5940.jpg

The Cory and Topanga fountain! :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/IMG_3118_zpsfe2dd87e.jpg

Epcot is so pretty at night.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/IMG_3120_zpsa83fd488.jpg

We left around 1 a.m. when the park closed. Our poor rental car was pretty lonely in the parking lot!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3124_zps15a622a2.jpg

All in all, a great (but long) day at Epcot.

Part 26: Port Orleans Riverside - Friday Dec. 15th

We woke up Friday morning needing a little bit of a break. Our plan for the day was to go to Sea World, but we wanted to eat lunch at POR because we had free dining. It was a beautiful day though! These pictures are just going to be from Port Orleans Riverside.

This was the walkway heading from Ol' Man Island toward our hotel room.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3125_zpsa4c0dc05.jpg

I know I've posted this before, but we were in Acadian House. I had requested a mansion room with a water view (we had booked a king bed room) and that is what they gave us!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3126_zpsb3d9a218.jpg

This is a bridge from the mansions over to Ol' Man Island.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3128_zpse140b95a.jpg

I think obviously man-made, but pretty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3129_zps2ea84913.jpg

Our mansion section was the one right next to Alligator Bayou. I had always wanted to avoid AB, but when you are there in person I think that area actually seems nicer than the mansion sections. Next time!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3130_zpsd43abe9d.jpg

Very classic POR picture! We actually ended up eating just inside that window.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3131_zps3b9b5da0.jpg

While the boat to Downtown Disney looked nice, it seemed like something that would take a long time so we never tried it.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3132_zps710108b6.jpg

I love this picture.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3133_zps095f4787.jpg

Time for lunch! We didn't eat at Boatwright's, though. Just the quick-service food court.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3134_zps28cf2eb0.jpg

The pasta station took forever but I liked what I ended up with. Can't go wrong with cheesy pasta, really.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3136_zps658da2dd.jpg

I'm not sure which sandwich this is but my fiancé said it was good.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3138_zps7eb42db6.jpg

More scenery.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3140_zps435da2bc.jpg

The main pool on Ol' Man Island. We never went swimming but it looked fun for kids.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3141_zps2a6df456.jpg

Our home away from home. Just up the stairs to the top floor and the first room to the right (left in the picture). Very convenient!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3143_zpse1ed2232.jpg

We stopped by our room after lunch, and then headed out to the parking lot to drive to Sea World. This is the little fountain on the parking lot side of the building. Gaah, I really needed a new camera (more on that later). Look at how bright that is.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3144_zps698ace64.jpg

Disney details.

We actually stayed in a king room in Alligator Bayou. It was very nice. We obviously did not need the Murphy bed so that whole bench section underneath the tv served as a "catch all". 😜

We also never got around to eating at the counter service at POR, although a late dinner at Boatwright's was very good! The main pool looked like fun but it was a little too far for us. The quiet pool by our building was perfect for a swim one of our days, although most days were a little too chilly for me.

I haven't eaten at Tepan Edo in years but it is definitely hard to be a part of the conversation if you are seated at the end....what a small world to be seated by attorneys as well!

Part 27: Sea World - Friday Dec. 15th

Ok, I have a really good reason for yet another delay with this TR. We got MARRIED!! This is pretty much the only picture I have from the big day (last Sunday, 10/6/13). We just got back from our mini-honeymoon and are enjoying a few days off at home, doing pretty much nothing. Doing nothing, except spending time on the Dis and watching TV, that is.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/weddingpic_zps230a9905.jpg

I know I left off with this TR at our Sea World day. I'm not sure what time we made it to Sea World, but it was after lunch! I was a little worried because we had pre-paid for parking but didn't print it. They let us just show them the ticket on my phone, though. We also had to buy our park tickets for the day, but thankfully the line wasn't too bad.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3148_zpsb0c6d97d.jpg

I was so excited to be here! I had been to Sea World San Diego once a kid, but never the one in Orlando. Sea World's Christmas decorations were awesome. This tree was just the beginning.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3150_zps60ff15bd.jpg

The first thing we did was watch the Seamore & Clyde show. It's really cute and entertaining, even if you don't have kids.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3161_zps439d0442.jpg

We went through the Shark Encounter next. So cool! Sorry this pic is a little blurry.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3168_zpsb7738121.jpg

We went to Blue Horizons after that (the dolphin show). I thought it was fabulous. It's like Cirque du Soleil meets a regular dolphin show.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3187_zpsaeea6210.jpg

See the people hanging down on bungee cords (or whatever it is that they use)? Craziness.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3179_zps0288821e.jpg

I took lots of picture of the show, but this is from the very end. I love how all of the dolphins are jumping together.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3185_zps5762856e.jpg

Another shot from the end of the show.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3186_zps2cf7d747.jpg

It's not a trip to Florida without some flamingos, right?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4130_zps7ca5988e.jpg

So this marks a very sad point in our trip. My camera BROKE. It's like my worst vacation nightmare come true. It was just a cheap little point and shoot digital camera, but still...I was freaking out. What was I going to do?

Part 28: More Sea World - Friday Dec. 15th

Ok I left off with my camera breaking. Very sad :( I ended up using my fiancé's point and shoot camera, which was better than nothing but still kind of a pain to just have one camera. I was also worried I wouldn't be able to get my old pictures off of the camera. We went to pet the Sting Rays, where the entire contents of my purse almost fell entirely in the water. I was not having a good day! lol

There's nothing to take your mind off of things like that like a scary first-time ride on Manta. If you haven't been on Manta, it basically straps you in so that you are flying through the roller coaster. Scary at first, but fun once you make it through the first time, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3171_zps3f7fba33.jpg

We bought these Quick Queue passes to skip lines. They came in handy a few times. Since there are only 2 of us, it wasn't too expensive. I'm not sure that I would have done it if we had a larger group.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_3173_zpsd8f4680f.jpg

After Manta, we went to the Dolphin Cove petting area. My fiancé was able to get to touch the Dolphins a few times. It was hard for me because I'm really short (a half inch shy of 5'1"), but I did get to pet one once. None of my Dolphin pictures turned out because it was getting dark. This one is ok...so here is a picture of total strangers petting a dolphin, lol.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4140_zpsb4350dbf.jpg

Despite my lack of pictures, that was a really cool part of our day. My notes are really fuzzy from the rest of the day, and my lack of pictures make that worse. I know that we went on Atlantis and Kraken before heading to Shamu Stadium. I was really nervous about both, especially Atlantis (I had read it was a horrible drop) but I survived and had fun. We used the lockers for Atlantis to keep our stuff dry and I'm glad that we did. We hit at least one gift shop somewhere in there, because I took this picture of the pretty decorations.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4148_zps9c9e58aa.jpg

After eating dinner, and riding Kraken and Manta again, we walked over to see the Christmas Shamu show (I know there is an actual name for it but can't remember). It was definitely a different experience to see this type of show at night.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4160_zpsa01669ce.jpg

Again, my pictures aren't great from this. There was a lot of singing, it was a beautiful show.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4169_zpscb055b6c.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4179_zpsbb5e4ad1.jpg

Leaving the stadium, we were able to catch part of the holiday fireworks they had. Talk about good timing!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4204_zps212b8b49.jpg

My absolute favorite of all of the Christmas decorations from our entire trip was the Sea of Trees at Sea World. Basically they are lit up floating trees in the lake. So so pretty, pictures don't do it justice.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4207_zpsc2066a13.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4213_zpsfcca9475.jpg

Leaving that night, we continued in the tradition of having our car be all by its lonesome in the parking lot. We basically left when park closed (I think midnight?). Camera issues aside, it was a great day. I'm glad that we made it to Sea World this trip.

Congrats on your wedding!!! That does tend to take your attention away from the DIS, I don't think anyone can fault you for that. :rotfl:

I haven't been to Sea World in a long time but I remember really enjoying the Seamore & Clyde show as well.

The floating trees lit up looks so pretty!

That really sucks about your camera breaking in the middle of your trip. That's probably my worst nightmare! We always bring our DSLR and our point & shoot so hopefully we would never be unlucky enough for BOTH to stop working at the same time, but it still makes for a worrisome time.

Part 29: Port Orleans Riverside - Saturday Dec. 16th

We got back to our hotel pretty late after Sea World, so we decided to enjoy a lazy morning/early afternoon at POR. My fiancé needed to ice his knee and I wanted to read by the pool for a little bit. The walk over to Riverside Mill (food court) was so pretty.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/california/IMG_4229_zpsc632f16b.jpg

I don't remember if this was my lunch or his. I do remember that dessert tasting fantastic, though!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/california/IMG_4231_zpsb3927cee.jpg

After lunch, I grabbed my swimsuit and Nook and went in search for one of the quiet pools. (We could hear kids in the main pool from our room, and I definitely just wanted somewhere quiet). I got a little lost looking for the pool, but found this pretty gazebo on the way.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/california/IMG_1818_zpsf260622e.jpg

I love how it's decorated with poinsettias too, it was just so cute.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/california/IMG_1820_zpsd75d3e70.jpg

That's the Riverside Mill over on the right.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/california/IMG_1821_zps31b6bf10.jpg

I finally found the pool, but realized I forgot a towel. So I had to go back. After all of that, I was able to relax and just sit in the sun. Sorry if feet gross you out, lol. I think it's obvious that I needed some sun! I didn't go in the water (not quite hot out enough for me) but it was nice to sit by the pool for a while.

We loved the quiet pool too and since we were one of the Alligator Bayou sections closest to the main building, we found our quiet pool right around the corner. I agree, it was too cold to swim but we jumped in for 2 seconds!

Thank you! The floating trees were amazing. Yeah, the camera thing sucked. I can't remember if my fiancé had his really nice camera with him too or if he was just being nice and letting me take the pictures, but it was not a fun moment.

Quiet pools are awesome! I don't thing I've gone swimming in a pool at WDW since 2000, when I was in high school. I really should change that, lol.

Part 30: Hollywood Studios - Saturday Dec. 16th

Today was sort of a free day when planning. Even though we hadn't spent much time at Magic Kingdom yet (only visiting during MVMCP on our first night), we were planning to spend a long day there on our last day. We decided to go back to Hollywood Studios today. My fiancé really wanted to see the Indiana Jones show, and we had missed that earlier in the week. It's also a park that we hadn't spent much time in during our first trip.

I think we got to Hollywood studios around 3 p.m., after eating lunch and lounging around at the hotel. The first thing we saw was the flags at half-mast for the Sandy Hook tragedy :(

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4232_zps82359196.jpg

I love the Hollywood Studios Christmas tree. Being at WDW during the holidays is just the best!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4234_zpsd5486ea8.jpg

We tried grabbing Fast Passes for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but they were out so we grabbed them for Tower of Terror instead. Now keep in mind that I had no intention of actually USING my FP for Tower of Terror, because that ride terrified me. I'm sure I took this picture somewhere along the way of running around trying to get Fast Passes.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4236_zps083028ea.jpg

We went to go check out the line situation for the Studio Backlot Tour (another thing my fiancé had not yet experienced), but it was actually pretty long and we didn't want to miss Indiana Jones. Instead, we took a little break here:

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4237_zps1e2bf819.jpg

I happily forked over who-knows-how-much-$ for this wonderful little daiquiri. Now at first glance, you may think that this is a regular overpriced theme park beverage. What you will soon learn is that this fun little drink influenced me to try Tower of Terror for the first time EVER.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4238_zpsc58a3a0f.jpg

Before I get to that, though, here are some pictures from the Indiana Jones show that we finally got to see together.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4242_zpsf6beec6f.jpg

My fiancé loves Indiana Jones, and he loved the show. I was glad he was finally able to see it. Don't you love the Disney-fied little black crosses on the plane?

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4245_zpsfbd9f08c.jpg

Ok, back to Tower of Terror. This ride has always freaked me out. I hate drop rides. I hate the feeling in your stomach you get from it. When I was a kid (and not a little kid, like a 12-year-old kid), I tried getting out of the log on Splash Mountain because the drop freaked me out. Before this trip, I told my fiancé that I would try either Tower of Terror or the Dr. Doom ride at Islands of Adventure. I chickened out on both. He wasn't pressuring me (that much) to go on them, but I felt bad that he had to go by himself. All in all, I think he was sick of hearing me talk about it. Before the trip, I watched youtube videos of the rides and read everything I could about them to get a better idea of when the drops happened and that sort of thing. I don't know what came over me this day, but I finally decided to try Tower of Terror. Standing in line was a blur. The ride was a blur, I was too nervous to pay attention to all of the great detail. I sat in the back right corner of the elevator, where there is an extra handle and that helped. I screamed so hard that my throat was raw for the rest of the trip (and I hurt my fiancé's ears). But you know what? I sort of liked it. When we finished, I was so happy that I had finally done the ride, and sad that I missed all the detail, that I wanted to go again so I could pay attention to it this time. I can't remember if we went again, I'm not sure that we did during that trip. Anyway, major turning point in my Disney adventures. I could now go on *every* ride at WDW.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4247_zps8deb0356.jpg

We went on Star Tours after Tower of Terror, one of our favorite rides. We also wandered through Pixar Place, but of course the line for Toy Story was too long. My fiancé almost bought this Woody doll, "for our future kids". This kind of made me melt, because the guy is not openly enthusiastic about having kids. He decided to pass on it, but someday I think when I am finally pregnant, I will tell him by giving him the Woody doll. :lovestruc

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4252_zpsd74b037c.jpg

We saw the green army men (man?) out, making someone do push-ups. Love!

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4253_zps531d6080.jpg

My fiancé found the Indiana Jones store. Such a kid at heart, lol. Notice his Bruce pin? :)

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4255_zpsa1ffaa94.jpg

After only a few hours at Hollywood Studios, we left because we had plans for that evening. I bought this pin on the way out.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f60/PinkCoconut77/Florida/IMG_4262_zps6dae8ba4.jpg

All in all, we had a great but short time at Hollywood Studios!

Part 31: Downtown Disney - Saturday Dec. 16th

This is going to be a really quick update because I don't have many pictures. After leaving Hollywood Studios, we went back to POR and then caught a bus for Downtown Disney. The boats just seemed to take too long :(

I'm not sure if we went in many shops, but I always stop in Basin. I had read that it had closed, but was happy to learn that it hadn't. I love bath bombs and soaps and lotion and all of that fun stuff (love might be an understatement, I'm a little obsessed). Basin is good, but Lush (the original bath bomb company) is so much better. I wish Downtown Disney had Lush instead :( At least MCO has it!

Anyway, here are some pictures of Basin.

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5534/10386076995_7e315e8368_o.jpg

Mickey soap! I think I end up buying one of these every time we go to WDW. I need to start using them!

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5522/10386253693_f5af417d41_o.jpg

Some bath bombs. I didn't buy any this trip, our bath tub is not working very well and I generally don't like using bath tubs at hotels.

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5503/10386076685_010ca135a2_o.jpg

We had dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express that night. This was my fiancé's first time there, and my first time in a looong time. The last time we were at WDW, it was closed and we sadly ate at Pollo Campero.

This is a GREAT option on the dining plan, they have such delicious food.

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5498/10386097066_19cc6499fa_o.jpg

I ordered the margherita pizza and my fiancé ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. Both were delicious! We ate every single bit of these, lol. The margherita pizza is one of the best we've had anywhere.

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5474/10386077265_eef78796a2_o.jpg

The real reason we went to Downtown Disney that night was to go see The Hobbit!!! We were so excited to finally see it. Did you know that they serve WINE at this movie theater? Because I didn't until we arrived, that was a very happy discovery. You can also actually eat a full meal in the theater, there are counters in front of the seats.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3815/10386076465_ecffbd3faa_o.jpg

It was a great night at Downtown Disney. Shopping, Wolfgang Puck, and The Hobbit? Yay!

Part 32: Magic Kingdom - Dec. 17th

It is driving me crazy that I never finished this trip report. It am going to go ahead and add pics from our last day at WDW for this trip, even though it was 1.5 years ago (omg!). So, dear internet, if anyone is actually paying attention to this, that's just an added bonus :) I am finishing this because I hate that I never did.

We spent our last day at Magic Kingdom, which is I think the best way to end a trip. We didn't leave our hotel until 12:30 because of our late night. It was a gorgeous day!

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5580/14380684476_95c125b0c3_o.jpg

The flags were at half-mast because of the Sandy Hook shooting. :(

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2907/14380684416_9b0b6b8bcb_o.jpg

I am OBSESSED with Disney balloons. Instant happy!

A not-so-hidden Mickey. They just have the best Christmas decorations!

We were on our way to lunch at Be Our Guest, which had just opened recently at that time, so I didn't have too much time to look around. Be Our Guest pics are next :)

Part 33: Be Our Guest - Dec. 17th

We were really excited to try Be Our Guest for the first time! We had free dining so it was a great way to use a QS credit. It had just opened but we "only" had to wait about 40 minutes. Thankfully it was a beautiful day.

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2926/14236751748_e6a1f452e8_o.jpg

Not much else to do but take pictures, so I took lots.

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2908/14236704069_ff153e33f3_o.jpg

Does every trip report have a picture of this guy? lol

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5520/14236749250_c70de117d9_o.jpg

Mine Train construction. Kind of a bummer to see construction, but excited for a new attraction!

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2918/14419994991_5cb573eee7_o.jpg
Almost inside! We were so hungry.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5200/14422061042_72d112c165_o.jpg

It's so hard not to get impatient watching other families try to order. I think this felt like the longest part of the wait, lol. Cute room, though.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5566/14422216094_94d53a9aba_o.jpg
We ate in the ballroom, of course. Difficult for my little point-and-shoot camera to get a decent picture of it.

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2920/14236895087_20e9028a5d_o.jpg
Finally! Food! I had the Croque Monsieur, and I think my FI had the Grilled Steak Sandwich (which I believe is off the menu now, sadly). This is definitely my favorite QS restaurant in Magic Kingdom. We loved it. Great atmosphere, good food, real plates, etc. Since we were on the meal plan, we had dessert too. I think mine was the Lemon Meringue cupcake (yum).

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5233/14443530083_72b6f2d0da_o.jpg
