I played hoops last night, my regular Thursday Night out. I had a GREAT night!!! I'd been in a bit of a slump recently but broke out in a big way last night.

I'm crediting going on vacation and being a whole lot more stress-free with my good night.

Doncha just LOVE vacations? Especially those that really relax and renew you?

I do. :)

I ADORE vacations. Can't live without them. And I'm always planning one!

Unfortunately, I don't play hoops. The vacation certainly did nothing for my riddling capabilities! LOL LOL LOL

TGIF is right! Unfortunately, TGIF means ONE DAY CLOSER TO CHRISTMAS with NOTHING DONE!!!!

Though yesterday I did manage to pretty much finish the tree. Now I just have to do the village and the train set. By the time I get it up, it will be time to take it down!

I also did some shopping yesterday. I'm stumped on some people though.

Anyone else losing it????:p

Speaking of candy - Sharon and I were out shopping the other day and we came across an item in the checkout line that freaked Sharon right out.....

It was a candy mouthguard!!! Just like the football players wear, except made of candy!!!!!

Who in the wolrd came up with that concept???!!

Bernie....I am ashamed to admit.....my son wanted one of those things and I bought it for him in a moment of weakness.

I scrubbed his teeth to high heaven after he was finished, though.

I know, I know.....the dentist was right.....;)

I DO love Candy Canes. So festive and cheerful.

I have a recipe to make them. Quite complicated. As a matter of fact, after listing the ingredients and technique, the cookbook author suggested going out and buying them......:p

I remember it, Mickey...

Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew
Cover it with choc'late and a miracle or two
The Candy Man, oh the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make a groovy lemon pie
The Candy Man, the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

The Candy Man makes everything he bakes satisfying and delicious
Now you talk about your childhood wishes, you can even eat the dishes

Oh, who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The Candy Man, oh the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

The Candy Man makes everything he bakes satisfying and delicious
Talk about your childhood wishes, you can even eat the dishes

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The Candy Man, the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
Yes, the Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
a-Candy Man, a-Candy Man, a-Candy Man
Candy Man, a-Candy Man, a-Candy Man

Good morning riddlers !!

TGIF !!

Busy weekend for me .... it's concert weekend for the community chorus I'm in ....one tonight and one on Sunday ..... we're singing selections from the Messiah, ending with the Hallelujah Chorus (my personal favorite of the evening) ... I'm wondering if everyone will stand as seems to be tradition when this song is sung .... squeezed in between the concerts is the company holiday party on Saturday night !!

The candy mouthguard made me think of the wax lips they used to have when I was a kid ... anyone remember those ???

Guess I'm so chatty this morning to overshadow the fact that I don't have an answer yet .... hoping I'll earn my cane before too long !

Have a great weekend everyone !

I could do pie for breakfast!:)

Someone here asked if I could take a picture of the whole house yesterday. I couldn't find a way to take a picture of everything from the front since there are two cranes and 3 construction trailers there, but here is a picture of about half of the back. As you can see, some of the walls aren't up yet to the right side between the main part and the garage/kennel.

I hope you find a space to catch your breath, Diane. :) Speaking of caramels - one of my coworkers returned from a vacation in Ireland this week and she brought back some Jameson's caramels! Have you ever had whiskey-flavored caramels? YUM!!!

How much snow do you folks in the east have? El Nino brings wet to you and dry/warm to us, so we seem to be having a brown Christmas! I hear there is a possiblility of snow next week and more normal temps, but we have had beautiful weather for building this late in the year!

Your whiskey flavored caramels reminds me of the gift one of the construction workers brought us the other day. He makes his own wine, and he brought us some incredibly delicious ruhbarb wine! It is a sweet wine and much like a white wine.

A short about our DD Emily visiting Santa this year.

Two weekends ago we took her to our local supermarket chain for the traditional (cheap:p ) picture with Santa!
She's all about verbally giving him her list that's a mile long!

Then last weekend (Friday night) we take her to DWs office party to see Santa, (this guy was not enthused with his beard falling off & his BAD attitude LOL)
And then the following morning we took her to my office Santa party & she again repeats her list! (They had to drag her off to let the other kids have her turn)!
So when we went shopping the next day at that same supermarket, she says 'hey daddy, there's Santa!' When I asked her if she wanted to talk to him she said 'Nah'!
Talking about overkill:eek:  ;)

Good morning everyone! I definitely need my cup of coffee before I am going to tumble to the riddle answer.

Bernie - the steak and eggs look REAL good for breakfast! I'll pass on the pie and just have the steak and eggs with some Northwest COFFEE! YUM!

I have not seen those candy mouthguards... AWFUL idea!

Diane - the house is looking wonderful! I would be there all the time too - couldn't tear myself away.

Gina - you DO have something done... you got the tree up!

 Hi Dan & the rest of the crew!

Unlike Bernie... I had the "hit by a freight train" kind of return from DIS CON. Hopefully, I will get the chance to catch my breath this weekend. DD has a sleep over birthday party to attend tonight and tomorrow we are planning to go see the new Star Trek movie.

Despite the hectic week, I did manage to hang on to the fun from DIS CON. Catch myself smiling as I think about it. :)

Overslept today and am getting a late start, but still clueless.
All these cc's are getting me hungry ... LOL

Last night Kasie had her X-Mas party at daycare.
She was trying to suck on a cc with the plastic wrapper still on ... ;)
It was cute watching her and I debated whether to unwrap it for her.
But I didnt' want a red/white mess on my hands ... so I didn't.
Yeah I know, "bad dad, bad dad", just promise not to tell her, she

Good morning everyone!

I am a bit sleepy this morning. Nothing like waking up at 3 AM to the sound of a puking dog. Then I had to clean it up.

I really don't have any idea on the riddle yet.

My office party is Saturday but we had planned a family day to shop and go out to dinner. It is an annual tradition and I really would rather go with family than eat and drink too much with people I rarely see. (I think I sound a bit like Scrooge.)

I woke up sad this morning. I think I am worried about having given permission for DS to go on a high school trip to Vermont in January to ski. It scares me a little but I guess I have to learn to let go. (This is where you say, "He'll be fine Carol. He is a good kid.")

Let me look for any clues I missed and maybe shake off this funk I'm in.

I am a bit sleepy this morning. Nothing like waking up at 3 AM to the sound of a puking dog. Then I had to clean it up.

I can relate to that! :p We had one old dog who used to have stomach problems. He would always jump in the bathtub at night if he had to have an accident! Much easier to clean up there than on the carpet!

I woke up sad this morning. I think I am worried about having given permission for DS to go on a high school trip to Vermont in January to ski. It scares me a little but I guess I have to learn to let go. (This is where you say, "He'll be fine Carol. He is a good kid.")

Carol - He'll be fine. He is a good kid. :) Hugs.

Good morning all! This riddle thread is so long this morning that my cc was posted before I was halfway through reading it! Thanks for doing this today Gina!

Breezy, he'll be fine! He's a great kid! And boy do you have my sympathy! My DS is going to Quebec City in January for a french trip.

The house is looking great Diane. It must be so exciting for you to watch it go up this quickly.

Hi Dan and Helenabear!!! always nice to have folks pop in to say "hi!"

Morning and welcome back to all the DisCon Riddle Buds!

As usual, I have absolutely no idea in regards to the riddle

Heading into the City a little later this morning. Hope to start my Christmas shopping in there today and see the tree later tonight.

Oh - and if any of you remember, last time I got to visit here, they had started redoing my tiny bathroom - 11/11/02 was the exact start date. Would you believe that this past Monday, 12/9/02, they were STILL working on it???!!

They have to start calling ME now if they want the rest of their money.

Have a great day everyone.

Oh! And to show how clueless I am in other areas too...

I've NEVER associated the song The Candy Man with Willy Wonka (I think I only saw that movie on T.V. once).... to me that is a Sammy Davis Jr. song.

And if you stick around long enough and whine a little, someone might take pitty on you and give out a clue or two! I haven't seen any clues on the thread yet today, but this is one that a clue would be hard to do without giving it away!

Marsha, and al you folks stopping in to the riddle - if you PM around, I'm sure you'll find some riddlers willing to give you some very good clues. But it really is all about stopping in for a bit to kibitz and spend a moment or two together. Y'all are ALWAYS welcome. :)

Of course, it does help if you have a vomiting dog. :)

Good Morning everyone and TGIF! :)

Your house is really coming along, Diane! Thanks for the "bigger" picture! :)

I know exactly how you feel too, Breezy. Every May, Dan goes on a music trip with his high school band. This coming May they are going to Cleaveland, which is the first time they've gone to the US. Last night I went to his high school's Christmas Concert. I am sad that this is the last year that I will get to see him perform as he will be graduating. Being part of the music program has been a wonderful experience for him. He said to me afterwards, "you never know, Mom, maybe I'll join a band and become a famous rock star!" ;) He used to be such a shy kid!

Tulirose, glad I'm not the only one who thought "Candy Man" was just a Sammy Davis Jr. hit song!

Hi Dan, Helenabear and Marsha! :) :) :)

Have a great weekend everyone! :sunny:
