View Full Version : Geez, Traveling by train is expensive!

I was suprised how pricey amtrak is! For fun I decided to price out West Palm to Philly. I thought my daughter might enjoy it, even if it is longer, eating in the different cars and such, and for the same price we can take a direct flight on USair and be there in 2 1/2 hours! A standard bedroom is almost 600 more I think this is one experience my daughter will have to miss out on LOL

About 6 yrs ago we took our 1st trip to Disney on the Autotrain. It was the worst trip we ever took!!! Don't do it!!! Going by plane is so much better and worth it in every way.

I think it cost us $1300 for two adults & one child from Newark, NJ to Orlando with a deluxe sleeping car
we enjoyed it and will do it again
we do not fly so its the train or drive

My Dad does the Boston to Orlando trip a lot. It costs an arm and a leg but he does enjoy the trip. We meet him there:teeth:

I looks like Ds and I will be taking the train to Disney for Easter. I can not find air for less than $900.:mad: Amtrak is only $330. I've taken the train many times to SC and NC. In 2001 we took the train from SC to Orlando. This will be our first time taking it from NY to FL.
