What are the pros/cons between a value and a moderate. Looking at staying in a Little Mermaid Room at Art of Animation or at Port Orleans Riverside. Thoughts?

For my DW and I it's Value resort or Deluxe resort. We tried staying at the Moderates once and thought it was just a slightly nicer Value. We couldn't justify the price difference like we can with the Deluxe resorts. With the Moderates you get nicer restaurants, bar is open later at night, less Disney in your face, etc., but I don't think it's worth it. But that is just us. They are very nice do not get me wrong.

I agree with this. I cant justify the higher cost of moderates. We dont use the hot tub, or the pool slide. My son doesnt care for slides for some reason. He just wants to swim. We havent been to any of the restaurants at our resort. So essentially we're paying more money for nicer grounds. Thats all it is for us. Its just my son and I so whether or not we get double beds or queen beds makes no difference. We're going to stick to values from now on. Glad i tried some of the moderates, but after my recent trip i realised its not really worth the cost.

Next trip im dying to try out AoA/LM room! POR is my fave mod, its gorgeous but most importantly there's a boat to DTD (which I love). For me, the boat to DTD alone could be worth the extra money. :rotfl: Other than that, i'd definitely stick with AoA.

With young kids I think the values are great. Love POP. Without kids or older kids I like the moderates. Love POR.

I think the step up from value to moderate is well worth it when you stay at POR. The theming we find to be far nicer than the values.

CSR is also considered to be a deluxe resort at a moderate resort's price. ;)

I'm in the same boat exactly! I was totally sold on AoA but I'm leaning more toward POR. The pool is better for us, I'm afraid of crazy overcrowded buses (though I might still have that at POR, I think it'll be worse at the still-new AoA). We're going to try to go during Free Dining too, so the cost difference is minimal (around $300).

I take an adults only trip (don't know if that matters) and have to say it would be hard for me to stay at a value again. The mods have a different vibe I think...more relaxing, better themed...I sorta felt like I was at a hotel with theming at pop, whereas at the mods it felt like I was at a destination. Pop was nice for sure but if you can afford a mod I say go for it!! I'd love to try a deluxe, but can't justify an additional 2k.

Not saying which one is better, but these are the things you will get at a Moderate.

Bigger room
Queen beds (except CBR)
Table Service restaurant
Pool slides
Hot tub
Multiple covered bus stops
Lush landscaping
Boat rentals
Bike rentals

The moderates have queen size beds! That in itself is worth it for me.

We stay at Pop every year, but split our stay with POR a couple of years ago. It was nice, but we just don't spend enough time at the resort to justify the extra expense.

This is how I feel.

Plus I value the queen beds, hot tub, water slide, and covered bus stops.

The restaurant/food court aspects are generally immaterial to us as we eat almost all of our meals either in the parks or deluxe resorts.
