I know it has beeen asked before, but please give me your opinions on TH vs. CM breakfasts. We were excited about CM, but now are hearing so many negative reviews that I am torn. Plus we are doing MNSSHP that day and will be at the MK all evening. Staying at AKL, I almost think it would be better not to have to travel so far twice in one day.

I love having breakfast in the park before the park opens. It is so nice to walk through uncrowded streets and already be in the park when the mass chaos of Rope Drop happens. So, I would vote for Tusker House (which has a an amazing selction).

:goodvibes Agree with the PP. Walking in the park before it opens is AWESOME. Then a quick walk to Safari. :cool1: You're on the ride before most have even entered the park. :lovestruc

We tried Tusker house pre-rope drop on our last trip with 4 adults and our ds3. Arrived right on time, oly to wait in line for over 30 minutes to get a picture taken with Donald. Then finally sat down and before we could get food, the characters were at our table. So we snuck away one at a time to grab food. And we were having a good time.

But then the photo people visited our table. We had prepaid for a photo pass cd and given them the card before they too the photo. But they said they didn't honor that, it would be $40 for the pictures. So not only did we have to wait in line for 30 minutes after making a reservation 6 months in advance, but now we have to pay for the photos we had prepaid for and that they had us wait for. This was the one and only time I've ever been rude to a cast member.

My advice is to avoid the Breakfast Safari at all costs. Or at least make sure you bring your patience and extra cash with you.

I hear you can just skip the photo if you want. I don't think Donald makes his rounds inside but that's not a huge deal to us. I'd rather just get in there, eat and then get out before the park opens so we can head to Safari.

LOL... ok, I should have prefaced this and said that we are not early risers and don't rush to the parks. Our current breakfast at Chef Mickeys (and the ADR I can get at TH) is at 10:15 so we won't be going into the park early. I didn't even know about the photo pass thing (and don't care either way) so that is not much of a factor.

Just really curious which meal is better and if CM is worth the trip in the morning, when we are heading back to the MK that night for MNSSHP.
TIA!

IMO, Tusker is the best breakfast buffet in WDW!

I think Tusker House is the better choice. We do late breakfast and love it there because it has so many non-breakfast foods so it's more like a brunch for us.

These comments are very helpful. We are trying to figure out which breakfast to go to.

Food at TH is FAR superior to that at CM.

Now I have that feeling of ADR remorse! We absolutely loved Tusker House and all of the yummy breakfast offerings. It and 'Ohana are our faves. And we had a CM take the pic with Donald with my camera (great decision since we did avoid the additional $40) and highly recommend to go that way.

We have breakfast at Chef Mickey's scheduled for our first day and it will be our first experience there. I guess we will stick it out to say we have done it, but after reading everyone's comments, boo!

We've been to both Tusker and Chef Mickeys (several times), and given the choice, would absolutely choose Tusker. Just overall better food quality/ selection and less chaotic at Tusker. We're a family of five with very different tastes, and Tusker has something for everyone.

BeBeCee, don't feel bad! I do think everyone should try Chef Mickey's at least once! It's a Disney bucket list thing. If you're like us, you may not enjoy it as much as Tusker, but it's still fun! We've been to Chef Mickey's several times and even though it's no longer on our dining rotation, we don't regret it one bit!

We have done both and we prefer TH over CM... and getting in the park before opening is a HUGE bonus!!

In my opinion the food is very similar at both, we enjoyed them both...However, putting them against eachother i would choose Chef Mickeys for the simple fact that the atmosphere is much more exciting and fun...Characters are great, interaction is great, and its just a fun, moore eventful breakfast...Its my daughters favorite place, she loves the dance party atmosphere and the towel waving and edancing with the characters...If you are just going for the food, and are looking for a bit more laid back atmosphere i would suggest Tusker House...But i never really noticed much of a difference in the buffets, maybe I'm wrong as it seems most people are saying Tusker House has better food but i remember pretty much similar buffet items...

So do you need to be in the Animal Kingdom park to go to the Tusker House, or can you go without going to the park? We were not planning on going to the AK park this time around.

Tusker house is in the park and you would need to use a park ticket to get inside to go there.

We have done both and loved Tusker House! We had an early ADR, so as we were finishing up eating, a few people in our party went and got us FP's for KS. The food is great, the juice is yummy, and the service and character interaction was awesome!

Tusker House breakfast is awesome!

I wasnt crazy about CM food to be honest. Also, I didnt care for TH lunch. Breakfast is the best, in my opinion! Esp when you get an 8am ADR. :goodvibes

I would personally choose Tusker, there is a bunch of different styled food, with more "African" flair to it than just the regular American food you can find pretty much anywhere. You get all the characters in their little safari outfits, and I just like it better! I have heard a ton of negative comments about Chef Mickey's as well, so that helps me choose haha

I liked TH better than CM. Especially since the last time we went to CM we got stuck in a corner and it felt like the characters rushed through.

Can anyone tell me what the cost for the TH breakfast buffet is? It is vague when I look it up. It would be 2 adults and 2 kids.

Tusker House! The additional african themed foods on the buffet and the fresh carved ham are standouts! And the juice is great!

A pre-paid photopass CD does NOT include pictures from character meals. You need the Photopass Plus for those to be included (except for a few of them where it's included in the price of the meal - which Tusker House is not).

Thanks for confirming this for me. We have our first meal schedule for TH in May at 8:30 (I was the only one in favor of an 8 ressie), and we are getting the PP+. I thought it was included in that one but wasn't too sure. So thanks! :thumbsup2

Definitely Tusker House for breakfast, We've done Chef Mickey's for all meals and breakfast is definitely not their strong suite!, Tusker House is probably my favorite restaurant at Disney so I'm a bit biased but their breakfast is FANTASTIC as it has lots of stuff you may have never tried but wondered where it was all your life after trying it.

Try some quinoa with honey YUM, It's a bit like oatmeal but not

Tusker house, Boma and O'hana probably have the best breakfast at Disney, With a nod to Tonga Toast at Kona!. I would skip breakfast at CM as it is to be charitable uninspired.

Chef Mickey's is at their best at dinner, They have great pasta dishes and a pasta bar with a bunch of sauces (pesto sauce is GREAT) , the Salmon is wonderful and there are a bunch of chicken and beef dishes in addition to the carving station. Lunch is similar but not as much variety and I'd suggest going after 8PM to beat the worst of the crowds and the kids will get more time to interact with the characters. Last time we were there we had Goofy doing the dance numbers from 'Flashdance' it was a scream!.

I think the bad reviews are largely from the breakfast crowd - we always try to get at least 1 dinner at CM's.

I know it has beeen asked before, but please give me your opinions on TH vs. CM breakfasts. We were excited about CM, but now are hearing so many negative reviews that I am torn. I'm loving the info here. We're only doing 1 character meal during our trip next month, and it is 8:40 (that's the only time I could get) at TH.

Not sure I want to wait 30 minutes to see Donald. Daisy is the one my DS will probably enjoy the most. Does she come to the table?

One more question. What time would you arrive at the park for the 8:40 reservation? I want to enjoy the walk to the restaurant.

I posted on another thread last night...the price varies with season, but yesterday it was 26.99 per adult.

Yesterday Daisy was there, I would want to be in AK at least 20 minutes ahead of time for a somewhat leisurely walk back to TH.
