to require your Social Security Number on a resale information sheet? I could understand the requirement if I am borrowing money so they can do credit history.

If it's a standard practice, what do they use it for?

I did not finance through DVC and they asked for my ss# when I bought direct from them. They must use it as some type of ID because my guide said I could call for a reservation as soon as I was in the system, just give them my ss# and they would be able to pull up my member number. Maybe for tax purposes? You can deduct your property taxes if you itemize.
