I have a price quote out for DU and with the FLR Cat 4d GTY is the same price as the other balconies. The issue is we really prefer to see Castaway but a chance of an upgrade is very tempting! Also when we were on the Magic last month we had a deck 5 aft room and hated it! Very afraid of getting stuck at the end and not sleeping again. Are the higher cats just as noisy or where are they located? Need to decide what to do..go with it or request a cat 5 room that we pick the actual room?

If I was you I would select my room. That way you are sure not to get stuck somewhere you don't want to be.

The DIS Moderaters always say that upgrades are very rare, even tho they are talked about often on these boards! I would pick a room that I would be happy with and stick to it ... Just my own opinion, ALOHA, KAREN

I'd say it depends on the cruise - if it's not selling well, then chances are higher for an upgrade.

If GTY price is the same than the price on a room you can pick for the same category, I'd pick the room.

Any room can be upgraded whether you choose a stateroom or book gty (gty chances are higher). However, if you care where you are located, choose your room.

I've been on 5 aft and loved it (Magic). Yes, there was some thruster noise while docking, but that was a minimal amount of time compared to the cruise length.

Our room on the Magic was horribly loud..the one night between Halifax and saint John it rattled ALL night long to where our closet was opening and closing. Hubby said never again will we have am aft room...he literally did not go to sleep until 6 am. I'm thinking I better go with the cat 5s where I can pick my room..LOL
