We have been booked at CSR for the last 6 months with some friends who will be coming during some of our stay. Now 2 months before we leave my parents say they are coming which I am super excited about but they want to stay at POP. So now I feel like we should move to Pop to be with them. The way it sits right now we would only be at differant resorts 4 nights then move to pop to be with them for the last three nights. So any imput from fellow DIS on this situation? :confused3 Ive stayed at both resorts and like CSR better but feel like we need to be at the same resort the entire time.

I DONT KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO!!! ;)

I would NOT switch from CSR (which is your 1st choice) to POP, just to be with your parents. Your parents have a choice, even knowing where you booked, & they chose POP. Stay where YOU want to stay.

I agree with the PP. You made your resort choice and they made theirs. And having a bit of space (literally) is a good thing. You can still be together during the day and evening. No need to feel like you have to move.

I agree. They knew you had already booked to stay with friends. They shouldn't expect you to switch. Have they said that they think you should? If it is not a big deal for them, I'd just stay.

Do you have free dining? That's something that would be a deciding factor for me if I were switching since if you do, you'd be going from one dining plan to another unless you pay for the upgrade.

But, all that said, sometimes there are just times when you have to suck it up and do something you'd rather not do just to make things work for others. Not saying you should. Just saying, if you do decided to switch for your parents, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

I agree with the PPs. Don't switch resorts. You made your resort choice and already had it booked. They could have booked at the same resort but chose not to. Stay put. I hate the idea of split stays because I don't want to have to pack up all my stuff mid trip to move.

No free dining..I have us at a travel agent rate at coronado springs and my friends are on my rate as i can get two rooms at my rate..For my parents to book CSR it was way to much without my discount so they choose pop only for that reason to save $$$. We arrive at CSR on 10/16 and have to leave anyway to go to POP on the 20st due to no more space at the travel agent rate at CSR.

Agree with the PPs... Stick to your plan.. Since you are moving to POP anyway at the ending of your trip, you will still have time to spend with your parents.

Don't change your plans. You will be SO much happier at CSR over Pop.

Agree with all the PPs.

I'm facing a very similar situation and have decided to stick with my original choice.

I feel very at peace with this decision now.

Hi
I wouldn't switch to Pop. Their beds are so hard and uncomfortable. We were in the 70's section. CSR beds are so much better!!

I would not switch resorts. They have a choice and they decided after your plans were made. You can meeting up with them each day!

id leave it the way it is. youre only going to be at different resorts for the first 4 nites. The last 3 nites you will be together. The break the first 4 nites wont be a bad thing i think. Id honestly leave it.

In my opinion, it depends on a few factors:

1st - do your parents live near you or far away? If you don't see them that often, moving to be near them (and so they can help tuck in their grandkids) might be the nice thing to do! I know I would move to be by my parents if I didn't see them regularly.

On the other hand-
2nd - will your friends still get your discount if you move - if they are already counting on your discount and then lose it, that wouldn't be fair to them.

I'm sure you will have a great time no matter where you end up staying! What do your parents say about the resort problem?

I agree, keep your plans. It's very easy to meet up at the parks each morning, with a little pre planning, and texting. You can spend the entire day together, and evenings too. You can even go back to your resort for an afternoon rest then meet up again for dinner, and evening. So really you'll be spending most of the time with them anyway, incl the last few days at Pop.
And sometimes a break is good!

I meet a friend at WDW, and sometimes we don't stay at the same resort, but never have a problem meeting before rope drop. Cell phones make it so easy.

Coronado Springs is great, I wouldn't switch. You can still spend plenty of time with them.

There is no way your family will fit in your parents room at POP, so I would stay at CSR.

The only hassle I see if you all want to eat breakfast or dinner together at your "home" resort. If you have a car, its no problem to drive from one resort to another. If you don't have a car, I suggest grabbing a taxi from Pop to CSR or vice-versa. Much faster than the bus. Have fun!

Don't switch, you will have plenty of opportunity to have breakfast with them once you do move to POP later in your trip. In the meantime you can tour with them, have dinner with them, and everyting else with them, and stay at CSR.

You can have the best of both worlds. As a parent myself, I would not want my children to switch resorts on my behalf, that would seem too selfish to me. By switching resorts, you might actually make them feel guilty. Don't do it!

We just went in May with my inlaws. We rented points for a studio at AKL and got a great price. My inlaws decided much later that they wanted to come and there were no studios left so they went to CSR for roughly the same price. We rented a van, picked them up in the mornings, and dropped them off some days. Other times they used the buses to do their own thing and come and go when on their schedule. We made sure that we all ate dinner together.
It was PERFECT.
If we had all been at the same resort and on the same schedule we would have gotten annoyed at some point. We get along well, but for us there is only so much time you can spend with family and everyone had different things they wanted to see and do. The separation made it fun to meet up and we didn't have one single issue.
I really think most people would find it more enjoyable to have a little space and meet up when and where they want to rather than being forced to spend every moment of vacation together.

I don't think the OP meant staying in the same room as her parents; 'just' completely changing their resort reservations to stay at the same resort all seven nights, instead of just three.

I would not switch. We went with my inlaws years ago.
We stayed at the Contemp, they stayed at the Music .

At night we each went our own way, and it was perfect. Down time was perfect for all of us.

I went on a trip with friends one time and we stayed in 3 different places. Some stayed in an RV at FW, some at All Star, some at AKV (including me). We just set a time to meet every morning at the planned park.

The only reason I would consider switching if I were you, is if your family uses the pool a lot and would want to spend time together doing just that. Since only the POP guests could use the POP pools, and only the CSR guests could use the CSR pool, that could pose an issue if you all want to relax and swim together.

Otherwise, I would just stick with the resort choice I'd already made. There's no issue with you visiting them at POP or them visiting you at CSR (other than the pool thing) and sometimes a little space is a good thing ;).

I am not sure of Disney's policy but if it is possible, the kids can always spend the night with your parents during one of those 1st 4 days- that's even better because you can have a free night with the hubby or friends without the young'uns.
