So is there a difference between the alligator bayou section & the mansion sections there? Like enough difference to feel like you're staying at a different resort? Thanks

Check out the POR thread for lots of info and pics. Each area of POR has its own charm and sure you'd enjoy your stay in either.

Stayed at Alligator Bayou first of like seven trips to POR -- never again. Magnolio Bend rooms are elegant, the buildings are beautiful, and the atmosphere low-key. And seemed a lot quicker to Ole Man Island/Bar area/Lobby. AB was frenetic, cheesy decor, lots of huge families and a long walk. All depends on who is going, and what you are looking for. For DH and I (no children) Magnolia Bend felt like an upgrade to another resort.

Depends on what theme u prefer. We love the cabin, rustic feel so prefer AB. Thought the mansion decor was too "stuffy" for us.

If u prefer short walks the mansions have more direct walkways, but we love walking thru the resort so no problem for us.

I didn't like the old AB decor at all it was so tacky and homely..if I want ugly old furniture and cobweb theme,I'll stay home!:lmao: vs. the other section....pretty,nice colors,sunshine..... the only reason AB is any good is for fam of 5 stays......I mean, catfish/hillbilly theme is NOT pretty.....the grounds are pretty, everywhere, but in the rooms,a big difference!

You should see the new decor; I prefer the mansions, but I would like to stay at AB someday - but not before the RR's. I love the new decor.

The Alligator bayou section has rooms for families of 5, which it sounds like you have. The FQ doesn't, unless you are getting 2 rooms I don't think it would fit your family.

If you are a family of 5, you will be in AB as they are the rooms with the 5 person occupancy.

I've stayed in Alligator Bayou, not the mansions areas, and my experience was the absolute opposite. We found AB tranquil, lush and super relaxing. Our building was right in the middle of AB so not close and not too far. We were in a building near a quiet pool. The paths to the main building were winding and surrounded by luxurious landscape and LOTS of cute wildlife; bunnies, ducks, birds (non agrgessive) lizards etc. We loved it.

I can't compare to the Mansions though since we've never stayed in them. They sure are pretty though!

Unless your yongest is under 3. Then you can sleep all 5 in the mansions also. It's not until they turn 3 that you have to have a 5 person room.

:thumbsup2

In addition to the AB, I've also stayed in Oak Manor ... I found it pleasant but really enjoy the Woodsy feel of the AB to the openness of the Mansions section.

We also love AB. The grounds and quiet pools are wonderful.

We stayed at AB in May for 5 days with our 3 sons and we loved having the Murphy bed. I slept in one queen with our 1 yr old and our 4 yr old slept on the Murphy and my 6 year old slept on a twin blow up next to the door and the bed DH slept in. My boys enjoyed the rustic theme! Since our youngest is only 1, we could choose between the Mansions and the Royal rooms, but we chose AB cause of the Murphy and we liked the way the rooms looked.`

Awww... thanks! :flower3:

Glad you caught the slip up though for me. I usually remember to put that part in, but it seems my brain was foggy this morning.

We are a family of 5 but right now my youngest is 2. So I'd book por with the princess room.
