Has anyone done the Dine with Shamu experience since it reopened this month? Any reports?

We are going on 8/13, and I'm trying to figure out whether to see the One Ocean show before the meal. One Ocean is running at noon, 2:30 and 7:30 that day. That means the show will be going on when we get seated at 2:45. Should we go to the noon show? Or should we wait and "watch" the show from the Dine w/Shamu venue?

If no one responds before then, I'll try to get online and post what we find out on 8/13.

Dine with Shamu on 8/13 is now listing seating times as 12:15 and 5:30 pm. The 2:45 time slot is gone.

Looking forward to your review upon your return, as we are planning on going on our Christmas trip. I wonder when they will release December dates?

I just called Sea World reservations. I was concerned that they were removing the 2:45 event and replacing it with 12:15 or 5:30. I spoke with a reservation agent and a supervisor, both of whom guaranteed that they were still having the 2:45 event. (That is definitely one guarantee I would not bet money on.) I would not be surprised if I showed up at Sea World that day and am told that I had been moved to another time slot, and then I show up for that slot and get awful seats. I am trying to remain positive that it will all be fine, but am having a hard time. If anyone else calls and gets a different answer, I'd appreciate hearing it.

Maybe they are still keeping the 2:45, and using it for pre-booked ressies or walk-ups? I was just going by what was noted on the website.....they have extended the ability to book online reservations to the Labour Day weekend in September (previously, I think the furthest out that was available was August 19th) and changed the times to offer the two slots instead of only one in the mid afternoon.

I hope the later slot (5:45) continues to be offered, or even later yet for the holiday season. I would prefer that our "big meal" of the day not be for lunch if possible.

I wouldn't bet money on their guarantee; the people that work in the call center rarely ever step foot in the park, and are clueless as to what is going on there.

I called again. I spoke with another CM who at least seemed to know what I was talking about when I said originally there was one seating at 2:45 and now it shows two seatings at 12:15 and 5:30. He said that if I was confirmed for 2:45, they would definitely honor that reservation. He told me I could switch to one of the others if I wanted to, but I like the 2:45 time so I'm didn't switch. I feel a little better about this conversation, though, than my last one. Last time, they had absolutely no clue what I was talking about. I'm going to take my chances.

Didnt get good seats and were told its first come basis. As they had kids. She said it was just.ok and wouldnt do again unless at front.

Hi everyone,

Did this last week. We had booked first so we had a table by the windows. I was a tiny bit disappointed as the trainers seemed to hang on the left and right sides; and we were right in the middle, by the windows. When I went, as the return of dine with shamu is so recent, the second row was not used.

THe buffet was good.

We went at 2:45. From the dine with Shamu location, you cannot see the One Ocean show. I somehow though we could.

I was a bit confused too when I came in the park. If you have your e-mail confirmation, you do not need to recheck in when you come in the park. You go do your day, and about 15 min. before the meal, you go at the podium. THey will send you to take your picture and then you go wait to go in. The door open right at 2:45. There is already a shamu in the pool; others will join them as well. You can ask questions to the trainer.

It was good and fun; and we would do it again.

Thanks for the info... can you ask the trainers questions?
My DD asks, is there the black and white M & Ms please?

What? I am calling now . . . and I am not happy. I called twice and was "guaranteed" both times that the 2:45 show would go on as booked.

No call from Sea World for me, but I'm sure they will be calling. Just hung up with yet another CM - this time Kay - who once again said there is no need to worry. They have not cancelled 2:45 on my date. I bet I get a call within a day or two. When I do, I think I'm going to just cancel the whole reservation unless they can guarantee me that we'll be in the first row (which I'm sure they won't). At this point, I'm sure my seats wouldn't be very good. (I did ask again whether they could tell me how many people had already booked at the other times. They told me they could not.)

Did you ask about where you would be seated - whether they just would put you next in line on the list or whether they'd bump you up?

Just got the call to rebook us from Debbie at Sea World. There were about 50 people already booked, so I cancelled.

I am beyond frustrated. If I would have been given accurate information on 7/27 (when I first called about this), we would have likely been at the front of the list for the 12:15 show, and I would have simply rebooked it. But because I was given the complete runaround, and basically told that I was an idiot for even being worried about the 2:45 show being cancelled, my family will not get to experience Dine with Shamu. This clearly was an instance of information not being given to the call center when it should have been, and frankly some very rude people at the call center handling my calls very, very poorly.

If this is an indication of how Sea World runs its business, I am doubting my decision to even come to Sea World on this trip. 8/13 is supposed to be our first visit to Sea World (although we go to Orlando every year on vacation). This episode has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I am second guessing whether to even give Sea World a try.

Luckily I hadn't told my kids about this, so at least they won't be disappointed.

Im so sorry for you.

Thanks. I knew this was coming, but still am very disappointed. I think what frustrates me the most is the way they treated me. I don't expect great customer service from anyone anymore, but they made me feel like an idiot for even suggesting that the 2:45 might be cancelled.

I sent Sea World an email. I'm not holding my breath that they respond, or if they do, that it will be any more than an form response. But I thought I shoudl at least try to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Have fun at the event. I'm sure your family will have a great time.

I am sorry there has been so much confusion surrounding your Dine with Shamu reservation. :sad1:

I can only speak for myself when I say that I think SeaWorld (and its customer service) are generally wonderful. On par with Disney, in my experience. I would guess there has been much confusion with the return of Dine with Shamu as they find their "new normal" after being closed for such an extended period of time. That's not an excuse for how things were handled in your case, but simply a reason where I can definitely see why it happened.

SeaWorld is a great park. Its my favourite in all of Orlando. I think your family would have a great time there, and encourage you to still give it a try.

We are hoping to secure a reservation for Dine with Shamu for our Christmas trip. Hopefully by then, they will have their schedule firmly ironed out and we will not have any of the frustrations you have experienced.

Hopefully this wrinkle will not colour your entire trip. Enjoy your vacation :goodvibes .

I wish I would have shared your experience. Not only did I get very poor customer service from 4 CMs on 3 separate calls, but I sent them an email yesterday explaining what happened. I at least expected to receive a form "sorry for your bad experience" response from them. Over 24 hours later, I've received no response. And they did not even process my refund yet. (I called this morning, and they said the request for a refund was noted but not yet processed.)

I'm just in from work and have rung. The 12.15 was full. Good job that after some debate this morning we had finally decided to opt for 5.30 as it was a more appropriate time to enjoy the free beer.

Still, I think its bad that they have obviously been allowing new bookings to be taken before sorting out the original ones that they have already had the money for.

oh - and the spiel you get about the trainers have changed the schedule - PLEASE - we all know that its Seaworld adding in another show because obviously the bookings are going well and they can make more money.

A quick update. Last Saturday, I recieved a response from Sea World to my email. A very nice manager from Shark's Underwater Grille called, apologized for the problem, and told me that although he couldn't get us into the Dine with Shamu event, he would offer us a meal on the house at Shark's Underwater Grille. Fast forward to today . . .the day of our Sea World visit. We had a really great meal. They sat us right by the shark tank. The food was really yummy (as was the Dolphin Punch) and all of the staff was really great.

We had not only a great meal, but we also had a great day at the park. The only hiccup was that a storm closed down Kraken before we got to ride it. But we rode Manta twice, saw Turtle Trek, One Ocean and Blue Horizon, fed the dolphins and the sea lions, and visited multiple aquariums. In spite of the heat, we had a great time. And every cast member we came across was very helpful. We will defnitely be visiting Sea World again in the future (we need to ride Kraken!)
