View Full Version : My opinion of "The Holy Land Experience.."

We were in Orlando last week. We went to the new Christian Theme Park, called "The Holy Land Experience". It was $55 for us to get in. (3 adults and 1 child....kids 4 and under are free.) This included $8 off with a coupon we had.

I found the park to be quite realistic and interesting. You walk through the ancient streets of Jerusalem. It was pretty neat. They built the tomb where Jesus was laid to rest, and also the Great Temple. We watched a movie entitled the Seed of Promise. It was quite scary at times, (for children). The movie showed different scenes reenacted from the Bible, and how we got from the beginning of time, to where we are now. It ended with the promise of eternal life in Heaven with our Lord. It was a very interesting, but short, movie.

All in all...the idea of the park is awesome, to me. But unfortunately, 2 main areas of it are not finished yet...so there was not a whole lot for us to see. I think we were only there for an hour or so. I think the creators of this new park, are on the right track. I just wish I had gone a few years from now, when it was completely finished and a little more "polished". But I am glad that we went, because I really wanted to see what it was all about. I think if we give it another year, it is really going to be something beautiful.

Any other opinions, on this park?

Hi JorJor!

Thanks for your report!

My friend and her family also really enjoyed her visit to the park. She said the park will have different seasonal presentations throughout the year. We will be going to Orlando in early December, and I think it will be interesting to see if they have a nativity presentation, etc.

Thanks for the info on the price, too! :)

Thanks for your review. I've been wanting to see it, too. We're going to Orlando next month, but we have so much planned onsite that we don't really have time to visit Holy Land this time. Its good to know that if we wait a year - we won't be missing anything. I just hope it doesn't close down before then.

I thought I heard that there were some rides there and if you weren't looking for them, they are easy to miss. Did you experience the rides? If yes, what were they like?

Gibbey, there are no rides at Holy Land Experience.

The closest the park gets to a "traditional" theme park attraction is the Wilderness Tabernacle show. It's a dramatic recreation of the tabernacle described (in some detail) in Exodus. It takes place in a theater with one live actor, a fairly detailed set and a special effect at the end that's straight out of "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

I have posted a complete guide to the Holy Land Experience, with descriptions and ratings of all the attractions, restaurants and shops, at:
