View Full Version : If you buy flowers for vases on cemetery markers, how much do you spend?

Each season I take my mother's and grandparent's vases to the florist for new artifical flowers for their markers at the cemetery where they are buried. Have always used the same florist because they do a wonderful job. The markers are on a hill and it is always windy, so I get short, bushy flowers anchored with at least two chubby stakes. If I don't do this the flowers break off at the top of the vase. This is why I take the vases in because the florist does a much better job than I do. I won't take the Christmas flowers to be placed out until Friday, but this time they were $40 each. Is this about the going price? I thought it sounded high, but they are beautiful. I know this is on the morbid side but I am sure I am not the only one buying flowers for this reason at this time of year. Thanks, Boots.

I don't think it's a morbid question, and I think our answers are going to vary widely.

I typically spend about $20 twice per year on the flowers for my mother's grave. I only go to the cemetary around Mother's Day and near the anniversary of her death.

Thanks. I just don't remember them costing this much before. I could dig out the old receipts and check stubs, but I thought it was about twice what I usually pay. Maybe flowers are going up or something. If my spring flowers look nice I don't change them for the summer. It seems like the sun fades them out so quickly where they are at.

I use Artificial Flowers!;) I get them at the dollar store or Wal mart and spend at least 6.00 per grave.
