First time poster here...wish me LUCK!!!
Those of you that carry along a backpack to the Parks what do you do with them when you say go on Space Mtn or some other ride type like that? I would like to pack our digi cam in a ziplock to keep it dry. Will that work? Are you allowed to keep the backpack with you on all rides and attractions? Such a novice question I know....hehe but I am desperate for insight and advice!
Thanks in advance:)

We all carry the camelbaks with the water balder in them. We just stick them under our feet with the one off our legs through a strap. Used them last time and had so much luck with them we are doing it again. Having the water and the storage was well worth it and the smaller size of the camelbaks make them very unobtrusive.
This years addition is the large 2 gallon zip baggie to keep things dry. We use them on camping trips and it seamed natural to use them at the parks. The pack should fit in them, not tried it yet, and if not the items in the pack will.
There is one draw back to carrying the water and its not that it’s heavy. In the camelbak it’s hardly noticeable. It’s the looks we got from others that were hot, and thirsty, and waiting in line. I sear I thought my life was in danger a couple times in the AK. The people in line made the lions look tame. ;-)
Take’em we did and are again. No one said any thing to us and they were the best idea we ever had!

You can take a backpack on any ride at WDW (we did!). Even on Rock 'N Roller coaster which inverts. If you are worried about losing it, just hook your foot around the knapsack handle. There is always room in the ride car for it.
On Splash Mountain, maybe keep the knapsack beside you rather than on the floor (floor can get a bit wet). We got only mildly wet on Splash Mountain, so it wasn't a problem.
Kali River Rapids (Animal Kingdom) is the only ride I remember where you can get seriously wet. I think in that case, I left the backpack with DH (who was waiting with a younger child). They have a central area in each of the Kali "boats" where you can put smaller objects to keep them dry (remember to put your shoes and socks in there!). It would be okay for a camera, but not for a whole backpack I think.

I was worried about our backpack as well, but after my DP showed my how to loop it under my foot we have been doing that ever since. WE have taken one on every ride and never had a problem. On Kali we did stick it in the center console but it was just the 2 of us and 2 other girls so there was plenty of room.

I kept seeing people with backpacks and I kept thinking I should try it. Well I did last year and LOVED it. Put everything in backpack instead of my purse, plus now hubby will help carry it. We put camera, video camera, tickets, pencil, money, and the kitchen sink in it. We have no problem putting it down by our feet on any of the rides. Plus on Kalli River Rapids it always fits nicely in the middle tub where you put your stuff so they don't get wet!

I got a back pack/purse. It was at kmart and was a bit less bulky than a back pack and it fir three gatorade bottles in the back and then the front pockets held crackers and snacks. We rode everything and never had a problem. I just held on to one strap and put the pack down in front or beside me. No problems and the Cast members are real good at reminding you to get your stuff when exiting.
