I know Thanksgiving is still a few days away, but I was thinking this morning about all the things I'm thankful for this year. I'm not talking about the obvious things, like your family. I'll start( and excuse me for being a little self absorbed;) ) This Thanksgiving I'm thankful that my hip is finally feeling better. It's taken almost 8 months, but I'm finally starting to feel like my old self again, and that is something I'm really thankful for:)

I am thankful your hip is feeling better too. :)

I know you said besides family, but I am most thankful for them, especially my husband and son. I am blessed to have them in my life. I am also thankful for my dad's recovery from open heart surgery and for the little blessings in my life.

These are great things to be thankful for.

I am thankful for all we currently have right now. We had some rough spots that made us realize how very very lucky we really are to have all that we do!

I'm thankful that my family and I are leaving for Disney in 2 days! :teeth:

Seriously, though...I'm thankful we've got a home of our own, cars that get us where we need to go, food in the fridge, a little (very little!!) money in the bank, and a sense of humor about all life throws at us. I'm deeply thankful for my entire family and have an extra special "thank you" to say this year for the little one who won't make his/her appearance until next summer. :D

Perhaps, SONJA :D :D

Americans have a GREAT DEAL to be thankful for during ALL seasons.:) :)

However, if by quirk of fate most of us had been born in S. Africa, we'd be facing famine, starvation, the unbearable deaths of many of our children, and rampant HIV.:( :( :( :(

Perhaps instead of being thankful for what we have, we should ask ourselves how we can help those who have so little......

EROS, I like the way you think. :)

Maybe we can work on something DIS-wide. Bring a little holiday joy to someplace that might not otherwise see it. :)

I am thankful for too many things to list here.
But here's a couple big ones.
Being of relatively sound mind and body would start it.
Getting through this year and finding more people that care about me than I ever could have imagined.

"Nearly 13 million people in Southern Africa face extreme food shortages between now and April 2003. Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia are particularly affected. Donor countries need to fund a major emergency food aid operation immediately. But in the long-term the food crisis will recur unless the right to food for all is put top of the agenda of international financial institutions and governments both inside and outside the region, and policies changed.

Oxfams are appealing for donations to address the famine. You can make a difference."

God bless most of you.

I guess I could make a list a mile long of things to be thankful for, but for the last 7 years there is only one thing that means the world to me. Seven years ago 2-day after Thanksgiving my DH was in an auto accident, he was not expected to live. He's a fighter, and fight he did against all odds. Three years later more complications, it was touch and go for a week. Happy to say he's still here and after 6 1/2 he has returned to work.

There isn't a day that goes by when I'm not thankful, Thankful for life.

Family. My husband is such a loving, supportive, happy, wonderful man. My sister is my best friend and we spend as much time together as possible. We see my parents at least once a week and enjoy helping each other with yard work and home projects. We're an extremely close family and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

I'm also thankful for the cutest dog in the world and two cuddly kitties. Terrific friends. A roof over my head. Spending the day fixing Thanksgiving dinner with the people who mean the most to me in the whole world.

I am thankful that we will all be able to be together for the Holidays to share good times.
I am thankful for a God who has always been there and in times of tragedy has held me up and given me peace. I know that everything is in His hands.

I am simply thankful for everything. I have a tendency to be negative, and to always see the worst possibilities first, but I am thankful that I've been able to see hope for a better future for my family. My husband lost his job several weeks ago, which was more distressing than I could have imagined. What I've learned is that my husband's job was killing him...his physical ailments and anxiety are now gone. I am thankful that this happened because he now has the chance to start over and be happy.

Of course, I'll be most thankful when he finds a good job. :)

I'm thankful that even though I was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, the doctors found it early, before it spread. Even though I still had to go thru chemo and radiation, I have a good prognosis for a long, healthy life.

And I'm very thankful for my wonderful DH, for being there for me during my treatments (and every day) and for giving me my shots every day to keep my white count up so I wouldn't get sick during chemo.

And I'm thankful for my 2 DS's- every day they give me new reasons to realize what a powerful thing love is - if I didn't love them so much I'd probably wring their necks!!:) ;)
