I am thinking of buying a coffee maker and I'm not sure which one to buy. Can you suggest one? Doesn't have to be fancy but I want something easy to clean and use and I think I'd like a timer on it. Thanks!

that KRUPS makes them with timers. We have always had a BUNN, They're about $100. But they are built well and the coffee comes out very fast and stays hot.

I'm interested in this thread b/c our Krups died this week!

We got a fairly high-end Melitta for a wedding gift and it lasted about 10 years. Since then (10 years), we've been through about five more coffee makers, including another Melitta and at least two Krups ones. Very frustrating. I'm torn between buying a really good one (Would that be a Bunn?) or the cheapest one available.

We've always bought cone filter machines. Uses less coffee and, I think, they're supposed to be better. Any opinions on that?

I hate the Krupps my DH bought. Makes great coffee, but hard to use, the bean grinder gets stuck, and the coffee only stays hot for 2 hours. Moreover, it is VERY SLOW.

I love my Mr. Coffee with the timer. I have a co-worker who has a coffee maker that grinds beans in it! I have a separate grinder, but I'd love to see one with the grinder right in it.

I'd love to have a Bunn. Everytime I go to Sears, I gaze longingly at them.;) But I'm the only 1 that drinks coffee (my SO drinks coke cola). I just make do with my little black and decker 1 cup thingy. It makes good coffee quick, without filters. But if you go through a pot or so of coffee, it would drive you insane in no time.

I love my french press ocfee maker.... its amazing. Uses no filters, not much room on the counter, and very very fresh...

A few brands makes them, Bodum and another brand. The one I have is called Bonjour.

Basically there is a glass carafe (either 4, 8 or 12 EUROPEAN cups), a plunger type thing on a screen, which is attached to the lid.

You put the grounds in the carafe. Boil water, stir, let it set, and then plunge it down.

Voila! Magically tasting, fantastically brewed coffee, which is good everytime.

My friends came from Stockholm and had this, and it was the most fantastic coffee I had ever tasted. It took about 8 years to find a French Press, and when I did I bought one for my DH for Christmas a few years ago.

My friends from England have one as well, and say that is the way they have always made coffee.

You are in luck because Target know sells these for about $20 . I paid more years ago.

The coffee roasting company I work for recommends that you use a cone shaped filter...and the owner has always pointed me in the direction of Krups.
We currently have a Krups that brews into a carafe, and does have a timer.
The most important thing to remember is to keep the pot clean.....it's more about the coffee you use.

CindyB, you are my kind of woman! I also grind and then press my coffee. It's the best

My DH is the coffee master, not I. Now he gets up at 430 am... so he can be a coffee master.

DH and I went through sooo many coffee pots until we bought a Bunn. No fancy stuff, no timers. Coffee is done in about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes (has a water resivour that keeps water ready). We love it.

We have a Starbucks carafe and we really like it a lot. Have had it for two years, works great, coffee tastes great too!
