Yay !! It's that time of the year again ~ It's time to drive you all bonkers with my 'Countdown to Christmas'. I can't believe that it's only 6 months since my last Christmas thread was closed, and once again, the year is flying by ~ so that in only 6 months time it will be Christmas again.

So, has anyone started their Christmas shopping ? worked out what you're getting everyone ? or do your kids already know what they want this year ?

Any ideas what the big 'must haves' are for Christmas 2012. I haven't got a clue what my girls will be after this year, at 21 & 19 they'll probably want the dosh.

I will refresh this thread each month to drive you mad and to remind you to start your shopping early ~ even though you'll prefer to be shopping for suntan lotion and bikinis :rotfl:

If you see any bargains or 3 for 2's etc. then please post on here for now and share them with us, and hopefully a 'bargain thread' will be set up in a few months time

Can I take this opportunity to be the first to wish you all a very ...

I'll let you know when the big tins of sweets arrive in the warehouse - it's usually just before the children go back to school in September - that's when it start's for me. Have to confess though that I'm already making Christmas cards and spent a lovely weekend reading through some old craft magazines - all Christmas themed.

My DS has the 3DSXL on his list (if it's released in time). I'm thinking of getting DD her first phone.

Almost time to make a start on my Christmas Lists book! You're definitely not on your own with your love of Christmas Mandy!

I might actually get excited about Christmas this year as we will hopefully have a newly extended house to spend it in ... the work should be starting in the next few weeks and it should all be finished by then .... although it will take me forever to decide on all the new furniture and kitchen units etc ... if it isn't finished we may be making Xmas dinner with a BBQ, a microwave and a George Foreman grill

well, the warehouse at work is beginning to be filled with Christmas stock (Celebration tins are on sale already) and there are pallets of Roses and Quality Street tins.

I've bought a few presents (some Yankee Candle Reed Diffuser sets from a web site that was changing hands and getting rid of some stock) and the children have started to make their lists, so we're starting to feel some Christmas spirt here in Hampshire!

I take back the above comment ...as our building work hasn't started yet it will still be going on at the end of October ..... then we have all the fitting out to do and the new kitchen to put in ..... so I don't imagine it will be anywhere near finished by Christmas :(

On Chrsitmas day 2011 I was exactly 2 months away from my due date, it was my first Christmas as a married woman and I was just so excited at the prospect of 2012! My DS was born 26th Feb and is rapidly growing right before my eyes and I just can't wait for his first Christmas and our first Christmas as a family! Not long to go everyone! :)

Only 3 months to go I'm so excited! With a new baby on the way we have cut down the amount of presents we buy this year to just parents, grandparents and both kids :) so 13 people in total. lucky that me and DH are both only children.

I also promised myself that I would at least have the grandparents pressures sorted before baby arrives (due in 6 days) so I'm not doing so well there. I did see my local boots have all their lovely 3 for 2 bits in. They didn't have any of the little books with all the gifts in though. I love looking through those.

I was trying to think if I'd seen the advert! Clicked on your link and watched it. I do remember seeing it and to be honest it hadn't even crossed my mind that it could be sexest because as you say it is generally what happens. Some people need to chill don't they and just take it in the spirit it was meant. Its just aimed at the majority not the minority..:santa:

Please don't kick me out... :lmao:

A Danish Christmas is different because we celebrate it on the 24th in the evening. We'll have pork or duck (well, not me since I'm a vegetarian) with brown potatoes and red spinach for dinner with rice pudding for dessert. We'll dance around the three while we sing (I'm not sure if you do that as well??) and then in the end, we'll open the gifts.

Our traditional decorations are a lot different but today most people (including me) decorates in a more US inspired way. I'll post pictures when we get closer, if you want to see them. :santa:

It seems I have been picking up little bits and bobs over the last few months, and now I only really need to buy my DD's their pressies, which will be done when we have a shopping day in London in a couple of weeks :santa:

I can officially say I have done all my Christmas present shopping and its all wrapped and sitting on the table waiting for me to put the tree up on 1st December. I feel smug:rotfl:

I don't have to buy much so it wasn't that big a deal really, we don't have children for a start, just a couple of hamsters and they were very easy to buy for:rotfl: One of them might not actually make it to christmas:sad1: so the other one might get two presents this year..poor ol' conker but lucky Jeff!!
Apart from my hubby I don't buy for any other adults, just a few children and they are easy really. :goodvibes

Omg how organised are you!! I am impressed but I do like to shop when the Christmas lights are switched on n it's cold. Although there is always something jack will want so even if I was as good as you I would still be shopping on Christmas Eve!

I'm so excited. Especially seeing all of the christmas threads on here. Really has been a bit of a terrible year for me so I am throwing myself into Christmas completely.

I have already baked the Christmas cakes and puddings for the family (think they might be quite boozy by Christmas as I made the last of them 3 weeks ago :rotfl2:)

Now it is time to start getting the present shopping done which is my favourite part :yay:

it's our busiest time of year at work - I work as a graphic designer and a lot of our clients (mainly travel agents) want new campaigns that include press ads, posters, direct mailers etc for the new year / january sales, so I am swamped with this at the mo :(

I love and hate this time of year for this reason - I love feeling all christmassy but at the same time, I have to work very late nights / early mornings to get it all done. I can tell you I am very very much looking forward to the break!!! :worship:

I have done all my shopping finally and it's nearly all wrapped - just need to get some more ribbon as I have run out. I am listening to christmas music (mainly muppets christmas carol and phineas and ferb holiday!) on my iPod on my way into work to keep me in the christmas spirit, and have been watching a lot of disney christmas DVDs in the evenings when I get in to unwind :goodvibes

How is everyone else doing??

Spent 105 in Sainsburys yesterday and only managed to get two meals for the week out of it!!!!! The rest was all spent on shove in the oven beige food for when the outlaws come round for a buffet at Christmas and that doesn't include the drink we have to get in copious amts for me to get through the day with them:rotfl: Still have to make a Malteser Cake for a charity bash at work next week but all in all I only have 35 hours left at work so all good.:)

I have everything I need now, waiting for one of my DB's presents to turn up from a trader on Amazon, was dispatched on Tuesday last week *worried*

I just need to go food shopping now, Morrisons on Friday night, Sainsburys, Waitrose and M&S on Saturday morning.

Will probably pop to our local Sainsburys on Monday morning (Christmas Eve) as it opens at 6am for the fresh stuff.

Need to wrap the family's gifts but that's about it. Getting very excited about it.

Have to put a bit of a downer on it though - this time next week it will be very nearly all over again lol.

Soooo the one gift I am waiting for hasn't turned up. I checked the Amazon trader and the seller is based in China, he's dispatched the item through a German delivery company and has the lowest rating ever!

I normally look at the ratings and this time I didn't. *grrrrrr* lol.

Going to open a case on Amazon now against the seller, luckily my DB's birthday is the 14/01 so I can buy another one after Christmas so he can have it for his birthday. :)

Don't get me started on Amazon Prime. I finally gave in and subscribed in early November. I placed a couple of orders that arrived as promised. On Monday, I ordered an extra Christmas present. It was dispatched on Monday evening and was scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. All my parcels go to work. I was off on Tuesday and when I got to work on Wednesday morning, my parcel was not there. I thought that this was not a big deal and surely it would be delivered that day. Nothing. I then emailed Amazon and they have been great. On Thursday I got an email that City Link had passed the package to another carrier and they were working with this carrier to get the parcel to me as soon as possible and I was to contact them again if I did not have the parcel by the end of yesterday. They also extended my Prime membership by an extra month. I was quite impressed with regular email updates that I got. Needless to say the package did not turn up. So I used chat to try to find out which courier service the package is with and if it has made it to Manchester. I am off today and would quite happily have gone to collect it. They said they did not know where it was and as it had been so long, they would either issue a refund or replace it. This is where I got livid. They were going to send it First Class mail and told me that due to the sheer volume of orders, they could not guarantee that it would get here by the 24th. I went on the website, searched for the same product and sure enough it said if I purchase this within the next 45 hours and use Prime, it would be guaranteed to be delivered on the 24th. I copied this into chat and she agreed she would try what she could do. In the end she did say this would go out on next working day delivery and this was also followed up by an email. I am still shocked that I had to ask for this though.
