I haven't been to Universal in 8 years. We'll be staying one night at HRH and want to eat somewhere nice that evening after closing. Also would like ideas on good cheaper places during the day.

I can see you have a teenage dd who would probably enjoy the Hard Rock Cafe. You will have priority seating with your hotel card. Also, if you want a real spendy dinner, Emerils is pretty fancy. I believe there are menus for restaurants at citywalk.com

Jurassic Park cafe is good for lunch at IOA. Confiscos Grill is also highly recommended.

the palm inside of HRH is very good also. If you stay away from their huge steaks the prices aren't too bad. After we ate DH and I decided that next time we will ask if we can share one. I had very good veal picatta, DH had fish, DS had veal parmesana. DS and i shared a hearts of palm salad. It was very good.

Cheap Places During the Day: Any fast food at the theme parks. You can pretty much find any kind of food that you want.

Somewhere nice and fun in the evening: Mamma Dellas at Portofino, Hard Rock Cafe, Margaritaville.

Somewhere nice and not as lively, but a damn good meal: The Palm at Hard Rock Hotel, Trattoria Del Porto at Portofino

Thanks for your suggestions guys - I think we would like the "nice but not as lively" type places! Believe it or not DD and I went to the Hard Rock in Atlanta during the Olympics and we didn't like it because the ........MUSIC WAS TOO LOUD! Don't laugh - I didn't complain about it - after all it is the HARD ROCK Cafe!! so we should have known what we were getting! But I hate to scream over music to talk to people! :rolleyes:

Confisco at IOA, Character meal nice menu, excellent food, quiet even with Spidey Dudley Doright and Popeye.
