Ok, I'll try this again since my original went MIA.......I really need some help for gift ideas for my nephew who will be 12 in 3 weeks and for Christmas. What do 12 yr old boys like or are into? He lives 1200 miles away so I don't see him regularly and my sister (his mom) says he likes "everything"!!!! I don't want to get him anything to "babyish" and it has to be reasonably priced due to budget constraints (ugh!) Any moms or dads or others that can help? I will really appreciate your help and suggestions. Thanks to all of you who reply. :D

How about a gift card? He can get what he wants and its easily mailed.

Well all I know it that my nephew is into Yu Gi Oh. I will be lurking on your thread too. I don't know what to get him either.

Do you know anything about his likes/dislikes? Does he have a favorite team or anything like that that you could work with?

If not, I'd be tempted to get him a gift card. Kids that age love money to spend at the after holiday sales. I don't know how you could go wrong with Walmart or Target.

Blockbuster, movie theaters, book stores, fast food, are all cards/certificates that my kids love to get over the holidays.

I agree a gift card would be nice. That's a tough age to buy for if you really don't know what he's into. Video games? Music? Sports? See if you can get some specific answers from your sister:) Although I'm sure he would be happy with anything, it would be great to get something he really likes.

How about a CD, a CD holder, a movie, a wallet with money in it? My son would like any of these.

As a mom of two teens, including a 14 yr. old DS, I heartily agree with the others about a gift card. My kids love getting them or mall certificates and buying exactly what they want.

who thinks that the following are good ideas (in no particular order):

CD player and gift card to pick out some CDs
Gift cards to Target, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble
MP3 player (if he is a techie kind of boy)
Movie passes
Mall gift certificate/gift card
depending on the kid, a board game like Trivial Pursuit
If he has an Xbox or GameCube, see if he needs any accessories or add-on components

another idea, check out www.etoys.com (http://www.etoys.com) and browse the appropriate age category - for a 12 year old, I would browse up a category to the 13-16 year olds - and the nice thing there is you can also browse within a budget category ;-) Of course, this is a toy site, so obviously what will be recommended will be toys (and hopefully age appropriate).

Good luck!

My youngest hasn't long turned 13, but at 12 he was into music [CD'S] & cars........... mainly hot wheels.

What about a book..........something funny or on a topic he enjoys.

A poster for his bedroom, or a framed print.

These are all things my boys like, but all kids are different.

A bath towel or beach towel embossed with him name or initials might be nice too.

Have fun........hope you find something suitable soon & hope he likes what you chose..:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for all your good suggestions. What is Yu Gi Oh? I have heard of it but do not have a clue what it's about. It is like a Pokemon sort of thing? I better get with it as I have 2 little boys who are growing up fast!!!!:earsboy: :earsboy:
