New DVC Member Pin

On my trip to HH last week I picked up a new style of DVC Member pin. The new one is larger with lettering and edging in gold. The old style had a smooth, polished finish (like CM pins).

Also, for anyone travelling there soon ... they had a great sale on pins. Some were $1.99 (orig. $6). I grabbed a bunch for traders.

The sale pins were all from last year. I picked up the Vero Beach and OKW Resort pins for $1.99 and LE 2000 AK sets for $2.40 each (Orig. $12)! Even the CM had to look more than once when he saw the price of the LE sets ring up. :p

When you purchase a DVC member pin, you have to show your membership card. Of course. But, did you notice that they scan your membership number and enter the unique number of the pin they're selling you?

Anybody know the significance of that? Is DVC trying to track something specific?

A CM at OKW told us that the DVC pins were one per member per day....I think. (this was back in January so it's a little fuzzy) Scanning the membership number into the computer inside the cash register would prevent someone from buying a whole bunch of them in multiple transactions in the same day.

I bought the new DVC pins at the Wilderness Lodge and my sister bought them at OKW. My card is the same one I've had since 1993.....there is nothing on my card to scan and it's so old the numbers are faded. No one scanned either of our cards or wrote anything down.......they had all they could do to see the numbers. :)

We got ours in December, the new ones just released. They did not scan my card and let me purchase one for each of my family members even though they were not with me at the time.
