Aulani & characters?

Hi all,

Heading to Aulani in Aug. and wondering if the characters make an appearance or does one have to book a character breakfast?

They make regularly scheduled appearances for photos, almost hourly after the character breakfast is over. Also appear at pool parties, in the kids club, etc. DH says he saw them wandering around the resort frequently but I always seemed to miss them. Most of the appearances are on the Daily Iwa, which is simmilar to a DCL Navigator.
