My husband and I went out last Friday evening and upon our arrival home we were welcomed by a very beautiful Christmas tree that our daughter (18) had lovingly dragged up from the basement...piece by piece...and put together. It truly was a labour of love.

Now......

She won't stop...there are decorations EVERYWHERE!! Garland all the way up and around the staircase with twinkling lights ...nodding santas....reindeer.....Christmas carols on my computer NON-STOP....you name it......it's out!! I'm going crazy!

I do love Christmas...and we are going to WDW on December 21st so she wants it to last as long as possible before we leave.....BUT!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't even bought one gift yet?!

Maybe it will help to motivate me??:(

I miss having real ones, Laurie. Kinda. They're messy and I usually stab myself on them (can't keep my hands to myself around them, they're so pretty:) ).

Janette, of course that counts.:) My ds would love you.;)

Jason, it's not like I'm singing Christmas songs yet. I did see Santa Claus in Walmart a couple of weeks ago though.

Dana, that's usually when I put ours up.:)

Lea Ann. Lea Ann. Lea Ann. And yet, you have that THING in your siggy.;)

Our Charlie Brown tree stays up all year long. I just move it into the basement and leave it up there. Cali likes to sleep under it.:D

Not yet, but this weekend we'll put the tree up. We'll put the lights on the next week and the ornaments the week of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is so late this year that there isn't much time to enjoy it until Christmas!

I'm not savvy enough to know how to post a picture of my tree and I can't really ask the only daughter who would know how to do it as I have 'dissed' her here a 'bit'....so bear with me for a day or so...and I'll see who else can help me out! It really is pretty.....I just feel like I'm coming home to The Griswolds house!!!!!!;)

Lights are on the house. Tree is out but not decorated yet. ( I am helping 11yodd study for tests.) By this weekend everything should be in place.

the first thing the new congress should do is pass a bill making it illegal for any private residence, or private or public business or agency to engage in any actitivity related to Christmas until after Thanksgiving. :smooth:

:teeth:

Normally I would agree with the wait until Thanksgiving weekend schedule. In fact, I have never put a tree up before Thanksgiving

unitl now

We will be traveling a lot in Dec. and Mrs. Alabamaalan did not get to see all of her favorite videos last year so she felt Christmas cheated.

Therefore she has been listening to Christmas music since right before Halloween and our house has been decorated this weekend!

First time I have ever cut grass and put up a Christmas tree on the same day!

not until the day after Thanksgiving, we really don't have the time to all go out and get the tree together and then decorate until then,

We probably won't have time to put our tree up until the weekend before Christmas at the earliest:(

We'll probably put ours up on the 30th. I can't wait. I'd like to get 2 this year... one for the dining room and one for the living room. I've been listening to Christmas music for a while now- I should start dragging some of my decorations down......

This year I'm putting up two trees. A real one in our living room as usual and I just purchased a real nice artificial to put in our bedroom. The real one will go up the weekend after Thanksgiving and the artificial will go up next week.

LEts see.. we usually put ours up around my sons birthday (12/6). If we put it up too early.. its my birthday (11/25).

Anyway, its a fake one, takes about an hour to put up, and then a while for the lights... DH was looking at the pre lit ones at Kmart the other day...

Not yet. It's our tradition to put our tree up along with all the other decorations the day after thanksgiving. We end the day by ordering pizza and watching Home Alone.

I agree it's a bit early. I hate for Christmas to get watered down. Besides, if i get it all up now, its just more to dust and try to keep clean. And, if it all goes up so early, we tend to forget the important holiday for us Americans. It's more than football, leftover Turkey and listening to everyone name one thing they are Thankful for before we eat. It just gets mowed right over by the Christmas rush. Kinda sad.

HUH?!?!?!

It isn't even Thanksgiving yet! Then we have 4 weeks of Advent before Christmas comes! I just hate how commercial a simple religious holiday has become. We usually put our tree up the week before Christmas and take it down on Epiphany.

i LOVE christmas decorations!!! we had a rough season last year and i didn't get to put up any decorations until about 2 weeks before christmas. we're putting or stuff up this weekend...my parents are coming down next week and i like to "show off' my decorations so i want them in place for their visit. i don't look at how "commerical" it's become...i just think the decorations are pretty to look at and it puts me in a cheerful mood!

Goodness, I love having a real tree for Christmas, but we will be in California for 2 weeks through Christmas so I am not sure we will be putting up a tree this year. I am sure I will give in though :p

Way to early for me! My rule is wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Chrismas. :) Since we always get a real tree, I wait until after Thanksgiving to make sure the tree still looks pretty for Christmas day.

Yep, ours is up. My DS7 had off last Tues. for Election Day, and he helped me put it up then. My husband came home and just shook his head. I can't help it. I love the way Christmastime feels, and I'd probably keep it up all year long if I could.:D

We put our tree up 2 or 3 weeks before Christmas. Then it's a long 2 or 3 weeks of trying to keep the cats out of the tree. :)

Way too early!!!

We always do this on the day after Thanksgiving. However, Thanksgiving is pretty late this year, so we may start on the weekend before. (We usually put up 2 or 3 trees, so it takes awhile.)

We don't usually put ours up until a couple of weeks before Christmas. We have a huge fir tree in our front yard that we put lights on the day after Thanksgiving. It is so tall that DH says every year this is the last year. We have to borrow the tall ladder from our church to get the lights on it. Yes DH definately loves me to climb up that ladder!!!!!

Too early. We don't put ours up til mid December and take it down on Epiphany.

Who the heck wants to dust it anyhow???? ;)

Thanksgiving night. Daughter and son-in-law are coming down to help us put our tree up. The men will put the lights on (wrapped around individual branches, not just laying on them, gives it more depth...takes more time to do it tho) while daughter and I will make a snack in the kitchen. Then we'll go down to their house and do the same, men put up the tree, women fix a snack. :D
Then when we get home we'll put the ornaments on, then the next day I'll put out the rest of the decorations. Not putting as many out this year though, because of our vacation in January. :D

LOL I would support that no matter which party backed it! ;)
I'm so tired of seeing Christmas decorations out before Thanksgiving or even Halloween! It drives me batty! Enjoy the last month or two of the year!!! LOL I love Christmas and can't wait to have the tree but c'mon ONE holiday at a time! :)

Thought at first we would skip the decorations this year due to all that's going on. But, we dug out all the boxes on Saturday and by Sunday everything including the tree was up. We do an artificial tree - it kills me, but everytime I look at it it reminds me I'm going to WDW so it becomes the most beautiful tree in the world.

We are all decked out here - we really go overboard. So glad we did this year It's really giving me lots of joy.

We too usually put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving. We however will be leaving for WDW on Nov. 22 and returning Dec.1. I'm afraid if we wait I'll be too tired. I'm thinking we might put our's up this weekend. I'm glad to hear other's have their's up already.
