Hi guys! I am making my yearly trip to WDW. This year, I've decided to take my time and visit things along way. I am driving from South Louisiana on I-10 until I hit I-75 and SR-429. Other than the USS Alabama, I'm not sure of anything interesting to stop and see. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! ;)

Maybe the Naval Aviation Museum (http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/)in Pensacola. Pick up some Crimson Tide football t-shirts when passing through Alabama.;)

:) Biloxi casinos and resorts. Mary Mahoneys on Hwy 90 is fun old restaurant..Take 1-10 to I-110 south and hit Hwy 90, so very close. Hard Rock cafe on 90 also. Walter Anderson Museum in Ocean Springs, take 90 from Biloxi to Ocean Springs and take the first exit past the big bridge (heading east) and turn right on Washington Blvd, down street on left with cute shops and nice places to eat in the area.

Go south on third exit past Mobile Bay (forget Hwy--maybe 59), about 30 miles and see the most beautiful beaches in the USA. Eat at the Pink Pony on the beach. There are Foley Outlet Malls and also a large mall on the left side of that exit with Willimas and Sanoma, Pottery Barn, etc.

Felix's restaurant is also a fun place to eat off I-10 as you make your way across Mobile Bay.

Hwy 90 will actually take you from Pass Christian/ Bay St. Louis through Downtown Mobile into the tunnel and you can get back on 1-10 to go across the Bay. That is the "scenic route" and will take a good 2 hours with lights and traffic. You can also take many of the roads north to get back on 1-10. Hwy 90 is about 4-5 miles south and runs parallel to the Interstate.

I live in Pascagoula which is the last town off I-10/Hwy90 heading into Alabama.

Thank you ToddyLu!! I will look into those. It will help break up the trip for the kiddos..may have to pass on the casinos..lol. As many times as I have driven this path...I have never stopped to visit anything. I am looking forward to it. I may stop off at the beach for a day or two though. That will help!!

You said you were traveling on I-10 until you got to FL. I'd suggest taking I-12 when you hit BTR so you can avoid driving through NOLA.

BTW, my wife is originally from Lafayette and she was just back there last week. Made me jealous that she wen to a crawfish boil.

Just saw this! I avoid BR and NO as much as possible. I actually take 90 to NOLA. It's much better. I love the crawfish boils. Lafayette is sure getting good publicity with UL lately. BTW, my brother moved to OKC! Lol, what's in OK?

At Pensacola, get off I-10 onto I-110 and head south until it ends and drops you onto eastbound US98. Follow US98 through Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, Carabelle all the way to Perry. In many, many places the road runs right along the Gulf of Mexico and it's very, very scenic. And other than Panama City itself, there's not much traffic.

It's still good info...I'm making the drive from Baton Rouge in May and I'm considering things to do on the way.

Good info is never late! Thanks! I always find myself driving to Disney despite the countless times I've considered flying. We stopped over in Destin quite a few times. Thanks again!! It's not a bad drive although I-10 once you hit Florida seems never ending!! To the other Poster.. i forgot your name.:-(..Good luck on your drive in May. We are hitting the road again in March! I can't wait!
