I have a question about the Alamo Kiosk. I did the preliminary stuff online (put in drivers license number), but I couldn't do the online check-in because my reservation includes a coupon. So, do we just go up to the kiosk, scan our paperwork, and then go pick out a car and drive on up to the attendant at the exit?

If the kiosk allows the coupon, then yes, all you need to do is enter the info, go to the garage, be polite to the greeter who is there to help you and select your car and go to the exit booth with your printout, license and credit card ready to give the exit agent.

If the kiosk will not accept the coupon, then you will need to go to the counter. Then: go to the garage, be polite to the greeter who is there to help you and select your car and go to the exit booth with your contract and license ready to give the exit agent.

Well, I don't even have a physical coupon so this ought to be interesting. Really hoping to avoid the counter. I used a VISA discount from the VISA website so no physical coupon.

YES, you do exactly that. Based on my own personal experience, you cannot do online check-in if a coupon code is used. Just go to the kiosk, scan your reservation code, and verify all your info, then go over to the garage and pick your car class according to your reservation. As long as no changes have been been made, you should be fine. Show your license and paperwork to the exit agent and you are on your way!!! Have a FANTASTIC vacation!!!!

Ok, I have experience with this too. Make sure you scan your VISA card at the kiosk and not your MASTERCARD if you have one. One year my hubby did that and it said his card was "INVALID". :lmao: I told him I reserved with the VISA card and VISA discount so once he scanned that, all was well. :love: When we got to the hotel he quickly flipped out his MASTERCARD to make sure it was OK. :laughing: He never had a card declined so when he saw INVALID he quickly thought the worst!!! The look on his face was priceless!!! So remember to swipe the right card and you will be fine. :rotfl:

If you go back to the visa website http://usa.visa.com/personal/discounts/detail/Travel/vro_details.jsp?categoryName=Travel&categoryId=21&pageId=197 when you go to the link for alamo you click on "view details and redeem" should have a pop up window come up??? in the upper right hand corner of the pop up it says printable page. I print that and take that. I had to use it once.

Most coupons are electronic, so, there should be no issue here. You should be able to use the kiosk.

Uses the visa ID and coupon codes lots of times. Never went to the counter. ALWAYS use the kiosk...I spend no more then a minute at that thing and I'm on my way. LOVE IT!!

I think they are great!!! And, I often wonder why people will stand in a long line rather than use them. There are very very few reasons why someone could not use them and they are in plain sight.
