Although I dread the thought of breaking out in to another war - [remember folks -- we ARE in a war right now] it does feel better knowing that we have the support of the UN behind us.

Thanks for the links Dan.

I found out yesterday morning during Model UN. We were all shocked that Syria voted for it, instead of abstaining. The text of the resolution is very tough, and a bit scary IMO. I am attending the UCLA MUN Conference this weekend, and, although not in my committee (we are talking about street children), in many others it is the main topic of discussion.

This is good news. I was afraid that if this wasn't passed, we would have acted unilaterally against Iraq. There are arguments on both sides as to whether or not this would have been the right thing to do, but there is no question it would have destablized things across the world even more than they are now. Now, at least there is a chance for peace, and if war must come, there is a better chance we will not act alone. Let us hope Iraq chooses peace.
