How many different types of pets have you owned?

When I was growing up we had (at various times): many cats, a dog, tropical fish, a bull frog, an owl and yes, even a cow.:eek: :)


My boys have helped raise our share of cats, two dogs, and one summer we tried unsuccessfully to keep alive a few guppies. :jester:

What kinds of animals have you had for "pets"??:D

Okay,

the first pet I remember was a Chiuaua (Sp?) named Auggie
Then there was a dog that looked just like Benji named Whiskers


Now right now we have,

a Pomeranian
2 Shih-tzus
a Lhasa Apso
a Cocker Spaniel

a Maine Coon
a Himalayan
a 1/2 Persian 1/2 Siamese
a Ocicat

and I would love to find a plain old everyday Black and White cat.

My sister and had very bad luck with fish, we had cats (kept the snakes and scorpions out of our house) but our favorites were our dogs.

As a child:
My first pet was a dog (Scooby Doo)
Then I had a parakeet (Pammy)
Then another parakeet (Theresa)
Then a cat (Frisky) (Had Theresa the same time as Frisky)
Then a Hampster (Hampton)
Then another dog (Puff)

Now I have my two kids below, Maggie and Milo. :)

Mostly cats & dogs, but we have had rabbits and other rodents and fish as well. Never a bird though (mostly due to the cats & dogs we had ;)) Currently we have only two cats (Gwen & Cleo) and I would love a dog but I don't think we'll be getting one any time soon. Maybe fish again though.

I am allergic to cats, bunnies, and other things with similar types of fur so I will never be able to have these pets.

My first pet was a black poodle. She was followed by 2 beagles and 3 cocker spaniel mixes. Along the way we also had 2 hamsters, lots of fish, a cat, 2 zebra finches and a bunny rabbit. Now we have 2 cocker spaniels (my babies!), a full aquarium, a Beta fish and a hermit crab. After the holidays, DH wants to add a tree frog or gecko to our menagerie. I'm holding out for a puppy, though. :)

I bet I can hold my own with any pet owner out there on this one! I've had mice, hamsters, gerbils, hermit crabs, fish (tropical and gold), snails, guinea pigs, bunny, dogs, cats, green anole lizards, canary, frogs (small and bullfrog varieties), a praying mantis, and turtles.

I won't even begin to tell you how many of each I have had. For example, I have had 9 dogs in my lifetime. And my mice and hamsters were numerous (only get one unless you want a population explosion!)

While growing up, I had goldfish, a turtle, baby chicks (at Easter time), parakeets, parrots, and dogs.

Now we have our son's dog, Doc, living with us. He is a beautiful and loving Rottweiler. Dogs are, by far, my favorite pets.

We always had lots of dogs and cats while I was growing up. Since I've been out on my own, I've had countless cats and have two super tuxedo brothers right now. :)

DH likes dogs and DS has been asking for one for a while so I guess that soon we will be adding a dog. I hope that the cats behave themselves! :)

Officially... several fish, two parakeets, and two Shih Tzu (most at one time, though, was one parakeet and one Shih Tzu).

Since I've gotten married, I've added 4 kitties to that, 3 of which are still with us. :) I keep debating whether or not I want to add another dog to the list so that we have 4 pets. Right now, I'm leaning toward not, but we'll see. ;)

Unofficially, I had a pet sparrow for about a week during the summer when some bratty kids shot its wing with a B-B gun :mad: We tried to nurse her back to health and teach her to fly again, but it just didn't work out. Last I heard, the kids took her home to try and raise her in captivity, but she didn't last long. Didn't surprise me with those kids :rolleyes:

Right now we have three dogs, but in my 35 years I've had:10 dogs, 5 cats, 5 birds, countless fish, a guinea pig, 3 hamsters, (dropper-fed a litter when the mother died:eek: ), 2 gerbils, a frog named Hoppy:D, and numerous strays. And I could never understand why my mom wouldn't let me keep a pony in my room!:mad::D

10 frogs (my brother loved to collect them and see what they would do in a small bowl- talk about inhumane.)

My kids want a dog so bad, but I don't see it happening until they are a little older.
