Aloooooooooooooooooha!
Hello and welcome to xoktenox’s 3rd ever trip report!! I’m so, so, sooooo excited to share this trip with you all because it was a different type of trip this time. For one thing, this was our shortest trip to the World yet. Secondly, we took two of our friends with us, both who had never been to WDW before. There were lots of ups but definitely a fair share of downs on the trip but of course, we had a wonderful, excellent, fun filled, albeit TIRING, time. If you’re interested, I did write a short PTR which you can find here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2814758). In case you didn’t read the PTR or are new to my trip reports, let me start with some short introductions!
First, there’s me, Kristen, 24 years old from Long Island, NY. I finished my Master’s degree in education this past December and am currently beginning to substitute teach since there are ZERO teaching jobs on Long Island. I also work as a part time teller at a local credit union. My favorite Disney park is the Magic Kingdom and my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast! Then we have my fiancé Chris! He’s 27 and works full time as a cable technician. He also plays hockey as often as he can and we are both DIE HARD NY Rangers fans!! We also love the Giants (Super Bowl champs, baby!!!) and Yankees. In case you can’t tell, Chris loves sports haha Chris had only been to Disney for one short day when he was a teen before he met me. He now loves Disney ALMOST as much as I do. His favorite park is Hollywood Studios and his favorite Disney movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Here is the other couple we went with, Sam and Joe. Chris and Joe work together at the cable company and although we all went to the same high school, never knew each other back then! They are 21 and 22 years old and are definitely NOT Disney people like Chris and I. We hoped to bring the Disney magic and wonder into their lives on this trip. Did we succeed? You’ll have to wait and see!
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/samandjoe.jpg
So enough with that, let’s get on with the trip! Before I start, let me just give you a few details. Our dates were January 31, 2012-February 4, 2012. We stayed at Pop Century and flew down to FL from NY. Sam and Joe had the dining plan while Chris and I did not. This was mine and Chris’ Christmas present from my parents so we had to keep ourselves on a tight budget! Alright, here we go!!
We’re starting the day before the trip. Sam, Joe and I all had to work full days. Chris has actually been out of work for almost a month now. He overstretched and bruised some tendons in his foot playing football and hockey so he was home that day. He’s been in a big walking boot and wore it the whole trip! I’m sure it was annoying! Anyway, Sam and I checked us in for our flights on Southwest the morning before the trip and we were group A, numbers 51, 52, 54 & 56. I packed late Monday night (typical me, waiting until the last minute) and by 10:00 Chris and I were in bed attempting to get some sleep!
4:15 am came VERY quickly! We got up and got ourselves ready, throwing our last minute items into our suitcases and carry-on bags. Sam and Joe were stopping to get us some bagels and his mom was going to drop us off at the airport. They arrived at my house promptly at 5:15. We said goodbye to my mom and we were off! We got to the airport by 5:35 and saw NO LINES and really no people! We breezed through security, even with Chris’ walking boot which we didn’t know if they were going to give us a problem about and super search it or what. First stop once we got inside was Starbucks! I tried their new blonde roast coffee and it was GOOD! We finally went and got situated by our gate, waiting for our boarding to start!
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/001.jpg
Around 6:40, boarding began! We lined up on our side and waited to get on the plane.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/002.jpg
Since we were in group A, it was easy to grab 4 seats across the aisle from one another.
Before we knew it, we were off! We kept ourselves occupied, playing computer games, reading and sleeping. A quick two and a half hour later and we were landing in Orlando airport!! Yay!!!
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/004.jpg
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/005.jpg
Being the seasoned Disney professionals that Chris and I are (haha!) we headed right over on the fake monorail to side B of the airport. Before we headed to DME though, we made a bathroom break to change into some warmer weather clothes! Off went my sweatshirt and sweatpants and on went a t-shirt and capris! It felt great to be dressed like that at the end of January, coming from cold NY!
Finally, I saw one of these through the window…
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/006.jpg
A DME bus!! Ahhhh!!! I was FREAKING out, skipping and all. Sam and Joe probably knew then that the intensity of my Disney obsession was more than they expected lol Entering the DME area we again saw NO LINES. We were having awesome luck! We waited all of 5 seconds after being shown to the line for Pop and were then escorted onto our motor coach. It was nearly full so we knew we wouldn’t be waiting long to leave! The bus driver announced the stops would be Caribbean Beach, Pop, then Animal Kingdom Lodge. Since we were in the back of the bus I wasn’t able to get my usual awesome shot of the WDW gates…so I had to settle for this…
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/007.jpg
Then this
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/008.jpg
And finally, this BEAUTIFUL sight
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/009.jpg
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/010.jpg
I think I starting tearing up at this point. We were back. I was in my happy place, with the love of my life and two of my good friends. I couldn’t wait to see what Sam and Joe thought of Pop and to get this trip really started!!

Hang in there with the teaching-I started out subbing too and luckily have a full-time educational assistant job now but am still dying for a classroom. It seems like the teaching job market sucks everywhere. :sad2:
On to happier things...LOL. YAY for arriving! Gotta love the Magical Express buses! :goodvibes Can't wait to see what your friends thought of WDW.

When I last left all you lovely TR readers, we were on DME, pulling into Pop! I was so excited I just kept snapping pictures

Since Disney was taking care of our luggage, we quickly hopped off of the bus…excuse me, motor coach, and hurried into Pop! We had done online check in and to keep the pixie dust we’d be getting so far going, there was no line at the part of the desk we had to go to! I was really happy we’d done online check in at this point because there was a bit of a line for regular check in! The rooms were in my name and Joe’s names so we stayed up by the CM with Sam and checked in while I sent Chris to take some pictures of the Pop lobby.

You can also see that we’re checking in with a CM standing at the front of the line, not at the regular desk. She was there with a laptop and checked us in just like that. I’m assuming it’s just to keep the line moving and it was working! We were told our rooms were ready as soon as we got in…before 11:00! Also, they were adjoining like we’d requested! However, they were not in the 50s building like I’d requested and hoped for, but in the 80s building. I was a little leery of this so I politely asked if she would see if there was anything available in any other building. After a few minutes of searching, she saw the only rooms she had in the 50s building were not adjoining and not even near each other. So, we opted to keep the original rooms in the 80s building, rooms 9228 and 9229. We thanked her for her help and then walked out to the front of Pop again to get the mini-fridge from luggage services. I was a part of a fridge swap and it worked perfectly! Within minutes we were being escorted to our room by another wonderful CM, fridge in tow.
Here’s the view of our building from across the parking lot
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/023.jpg
Turns out this was a great room location! We were so close to the bus stops, all we had to do was walk down the steps from the 2nd floor and then across the parking lot and there were the buses. Classic Hall wasn’t very far away either but we didn’t spend very much time there anyway!
Before we knew it, we were at our rooms. I tried to take a few pictures before we trashed the place lol

It was clean and everything I expected. While no luxurious, Pop is more than enough for Chris and I! We love it there and the Disney feeling we get being there!
We plugged in our fridge and I got my park bag packed and then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We wanted to get to a park! But apparently, our friends didn’t get the speed memo and were taking their time changing and getting themselves ready to head to Animal Kingdom. I tried to relax. It was only our first hours in Disney and I didn’t want to get all wound up already. I reminded Joe and Sam not to forget their room keys, park tickets or anything they might want while we were out of the room. Finally, at 11:50, we were on our way to head to our first park of the trip, Animal Kingdom!!
We got to the bus stop with our short walk.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/029.jpg
After about 5 minutes of waiting, Sam asks Joe if he has their park tickets. He says no, she was supposed to be keeping track of them. Needless to say, they had to go back to the room. They forgot the tickets there. Ok, still, I’m trying to stay calm. Chris and I got off of the line and went and sat on the benches while we waited for them. Several minutes passed and of course, here comes an AK bus. We got up and walked over to the door. Just in the nick of time, here come Sam and Joe running across the parking lot. We made the bus! I breathed a sigh of relief!
The bus took off right after we were seated but first had to stop at Blizzard Beach. Then, just a few minutes later we were pulling into AK! YAY! We were finally at our first park! I couldn’t wait to get in and soak up the Disney magic!!
Walking in the park I had to stop everyone to take a picture
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/030.jpg
And we were off! Time to have some wild fun!

Oh man, I hate that waiting feeling when people don't run on the same timeline that you do! You just try to tell yourself "it's okay, it's okay, breathe." So difficult to do.
I always make sure I get pictures of the room before the tornado of mess attacks it.

Yay, so glad your rooms were ready! It's too bad you didn't get the 50's section, but the 80's section looks awesome! :thumbsup2
OMG I can't believe your friends forgot their tickets! :scared1: At least they knew where they were and didn't have to search for them!
Can't wait to read about AK! And Happy Valentine's Day! :woohoo:

Hope you and Chris have a great valentine's day dinner :) I have never seen man versus food but I have heard of it and know enough about it to know that it is a good sign if a place is on there!
yay pop! I seriously LOVE that resort! My family has been staying there for the past 5 trips and we wouldn't change that for the world! Everything about it is super flashy and cute which is exactly what I love about it!
yay for a quick and easy check in as well :) Sorry you guys didn't get the section you wanted :(. I have never stayed in the 50's section so I don't know how it really compares to the 80's section but I have spent most of my trips in the 80's section and love it! For the past 2 trips our building has been super close to the main building, which was awesome for our many mug refill stops throughout the trip! My family doesn't really take advantage of the bus system but from our room this past trip you could see the bus stops and if we had taken the buses it would have been a super quick walk over there.
I think you were in the same building we were in this past trip except we were on the fourth floor and were right around the corner from the staircase that is in your picture.

yay an update! I love arriving at the resort at the beginning of the trip, isnt it just the best feeling ever? its because the whole trip is still ahead of you lol I've been thinking of trying the fridge swap, how exactly does it work? Can't wait to see what you did at AK!

It looks like you guys were fairly close to where Erica and I were in September 2008. We were in the 90's but it was very close to where that picture shows. And we would just hop across the parking lot to get to the buses, too. We ended up liking our location! Yay....you're in a park! :cool1:

Totally understand wanting the trip to be perfect with the newbies. You try to help without nagging but then they forget things and you get stressed.
You had a beautiful day. Can't wait to see the reactions.

I love Pop!!! Can't wait to be there in only 18 and a half weeks!!!! (That is a really long wait for us!) I hate waiting for people when you are so ready to get started on your trip. That is the way it is when we travel with Mom's friend Kay. We tell her we are leaving 30 minutes before we actualy plan on leaving.

I can totally understand trying to make yourself to be calm and try to be laid back with people who tour differently than you-- this is why WDW is just for Zach and I! I can't deal with people who may not want to be on our schedule :rotfl:

Hi Kristen! I'm joining in! Can't wait to hear all about your trip and how the 2 newbies did! ;)
:welcome: Hey girl, glad you're here!
I'm joining in. Better late than never! Great start to your trip! Your excitement is contagious!
:welcome: Hey Mary Ellen, you're not late, we're just getting started!
Nothing worse than wanting to get to the park ASAP and having to wait! Something tells me your friends were definitely not into the park commando mode! :rotfl:
Did you end up liking your room location? I think the 80's section is kind-off cool and I love the computer pool.
Can't see your pics now on my restricted computer, but I'll be back!

It was rough trying to keep calm when I just wanted to get going. I was trying to breathe though because the trip just started!
Oh yea, Chris and I make a mess in the room so pictures must be taken right away lol

It was great luck that the rooms were ready! The 80s section ended up being great for us, we loved it!
Yea, I couldn't believe they forgot the tickets either! Especially because I had reminded them not to forget them!
Happy Valentines Day to you, too. Did you and Brandon do anything special?
Hope you and Chris have a great valentine's day dinner :) I have never seen man versus food but I have heard of it and know enough about it to know that it is a good sign if a place is on there!
Our dinner was wondeful, thanks! Man v. Food didn't let us down!
yay pop! I seriously LOVE that resort! My family has been staying there for the past 5 trips and we wouldn't change that for the world! Everything about it is super flashy and cute which is exactly what I love about it!
Pop is soooo great! We've stayed there twice now and I would love to go back! One day I hope to stay in every section once, even though I'd probably get mad if I got placed in the 90s section haha
yay for a quick and easy check in as well :) Sorry you guys didn't get the section you wanted :(. I have never stayed in the 50's section so I don't know how it really compares to the 80's section but I have spent most of my trips in the 80's section and love it! The 80s section actually worked out great for us since we didn't even go to Classic Hall very often. We were at the bus stops much more than CH. Even when Chris and I get the mugs we never end up filling them much for one reason or another! Still though, CH wasn't very far from our room! I do look forward to renting a car one day though so we don't have to rely on the buses either!
We were super close to the stairs, too! We were on the 2nd floor, right around the corner from the stairs as well.
yay an update! I love arriving at the resort at the beginning of the trip, isnt it just the best feeling ever? its because the whole trip is still ahead of you lol I've been thinking of trying the fridge swap, how exactly does it work? Can't wait to see what you did at AK!
Arriving at Pop was the BEST feeling, you're right!! The fridge swap was awesome. We did it the last time we stayed at Pop too. This swap was the Gold Star fridge swap but there is a Nemo one too I believe. They're over on the budget board. ANyway, you message the organizer of the swap with your dates. They'll put you down for those dates and then when your trip gets close, you exchange information with the swapper before and after you. The swapper before you will put your name, phone # and check in date on the box of the fridge and then put it in luggage services for you when they check out. When you check in you go and tell them there's a fridge waiting for you, they are well aware of the swaps. They'll help you get it to your room. Then before you check out you put the swapper after you name on the box with their info and make sure you give it right to luggage services too. It's very easy and I'd highly recommend it. Our fridge actually came with a coffee pot, some light up bracelets/necklaces, anti-bacterial wipes and a few other things too.
It looks like you guys were fairly close to where Erica and I were in September 2008. We were in the 90's but it was very close to where that picture shows. And we would just hop across the parking lot to get to the buses, too. We ended up liking our location! Yay....you're in a park! :cool1:

You're exactly right...we were trying to get going because we wanted them to get to see as much as possible but they just didn't get it yet that we had to get going! I was trying to stop from getting stressed.
The weather was perfect!

Pop is so awesome!! 18 1/2 weeks isn't THAT long! Sooner than I'll be back lol You'll see as the trip went on we started to lie to our friends a little bit about the time we wanted to be ready to go lol
Love the shirt you changed into, obviously! What kind of crazy girl COULDN'T love King Henrik?! :rotfl:

We loved the 80s section. The themeing was great of course but the location was the best for us. I actually never ended up in the pool but I love the big keyboard and monitor making it look like a real computer.

Haha your FB stalking was totally correct :rotfl:. However, as soon as the show we saw was over, I turned on my phone and checked the score of course! When we saw it was a shoot out, Zach flipped out and was like THIS IS THE BEST VALENTINE'S DAY EVER! I haaaaaate the Bruins, so to get a win on their ice was doubly sweet!! Henrik really is perfect in every way. So talented...and that SMILE. Boyle also has my heart. :lovestruc

I hope you and Zach had a nice v-day! We were out too but Chris has the Blueshirts United app and kept checking the score throughout dinner. Then I watched the highlights last night and he is just out of this world good. He made a save facing the back of the next WITH HIS HEAD. Unreal. OMG his smile is just perfect and those eyes...:lovestruc You can see their blueness through his face mask! Aww Boyle is a cutie too, I love how he's so tall lol my second love would be Cally ;)

Such a good feeling pulling onto Victory Way and into Pop! :cool1: Standing at the check-in counter is just awesome. I peek over at the Everything Pop sign several times while getting our paperwork. It calls to me!
Seeing your room picture makes me feel like I could walk right into that room and be at home again. I've stayed in every building except Lady and Mowgli & Baloo. Every other building on that property I have done, and several more than once. Jill hasn't been in the Computer building or Roger Rabbit, either, because I was at those on trips she was not able to be a part of. Walking right across the parking lot from that side of Classic Hall is nice, but I still prefer the 50's through the 70's sections. I'm sure it's because I'm older and can relate more to those things. I was already grown by the time the Walkman or Roger Rabbit came along.
Jill is right about Kay. We have to tell her at least a half hour earlier than when we really want to get going. She's not going to change, so we have to cheat the time a little. ;) I FB messaged her the other day, and she says she does plan on going next spring break, so I have a year to psych myself up for dealing with the time issue again. :goodvibes

Thanks for joining in and thank you!
I haven't stayed at Pop for a few years and I like the new furniture and flat screen. Your room looks nice and bright and yeah for the fridge and a coffee maker. All the comforts of home!
Having the rooms refurbed was nice. We were in an older room in 2010 and the difference was noticable this time. We love the fridge!
Such a good feeling pulling onto Victory Way and into Pop! :cool1: Standing at the check-in counter is just awesome. I peek over at the Everything Pop sign several times while getting our paperwork. It calls to me!

Wow, MeMom, that's a lot of buildings! Although our room location was nice this time, I'd say I did prefer the 50's. 80's was nice for a short trip because we didn't spend a ton of time at the resort, but on a longer trip I would have liked 50's-70's, too!
Jill is right about Kay. We have to tell her at least a half hour earlier than when we really want to get going. Great start and I can't wait to hear about your adventures at AK!
Hey Caitlin! So glad you're here!
Hi! I just ready a lot of your anniversary trip and loved it! You and your DB remind me of me and my DB! You guys are cute together! I haven't started reading this but I just wanted to say hello and I'll be reading so today to catch up! Sounds like fun! ;)
Thanks for joining in!! Aww, thank you :)

Hello friends :) Hope everyone's doing well! Things are good here, just busy. Chris and I are getting more and more wedding tasks done but they take time! We also keep busy watching our Rangers kick butt and playing with our niece, Aubrey. But, I'm back with an update! So YAY!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last time I wrote we had just arrived at AK after a few little bumps, caused by our newbie friends. I was so excited to get to show them AK because Sam in particular thought AK was a zoo…she literally said to me “Isn’t that just a zoo?” Any DISer knows that’s far from the truth! It was around 12:10 when we arrived and we were all hungry since we hadn’t eaten since our bagels at the airport. So we knew food was one of the first orders of business. However, before Chris and I could enter the park, we had to stop at Guest Relations to turn our AP vouchers into real APs! That’s where we headed first. I spotted this guy along the way
Timon!

There was no one in line at GR so getting our APs was a breeze! I was so excited to finally have it in my hands! While at GR we also picked up some 1st Visit buttons for Sam and Joe. In addition, I asked the lady if there was any way we could get a Guest Assistance Card for Chris since he was in the boot with his ankle injury. She nicely told me that they would just suggest he get a wheelchair. That wasn’t happening (if it were a more serious injury and he really couldn’t walk then obviously we would have gotten one!) so I thank the nice CM and off we went! Here are our very first APs. Mine is Pluto, Chris is Donald.

We headed in to the park and came up with a rough game plan. We’d head into Asia and get the boys on line for food at Yak and Yeti while Sam and I ran over to Everest to grab some FPs! So that’s where we headed.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/035.jpg
I love the detail that goes into EVERYTHING at AK
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/036.jpg
Finally we made it here
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/037.jpg
The park didn’t look crowded at all but I was SHOCKED when we got over to Y&Y…the lines were outrageous. We didn’t mind too much though since we really weren’t in a huge rush. Sam and I checked out the menu, told the guys what we wanted and began the trek to EE.
There she is, in all her glory
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/038.jpg
On the walk over, as we’re approaching EE, Sam says to me “OMG, that’s a ride?!?” I told her “YES!” it is a ride and it’s one of the best in WDW, if not THE best. In my head though I was thinking, clearly she didn’t even bother to go to Disneyworld.com and check anything out, otherwise she would have known that the big mountain was a roller coaster! We grabbed our FPs quickly (no lines) with return times of 1:20-2:20. Off we went, back towards the boys at Y&Y. We headed straight for the seating area, looking all over figuring they were seated; but, we even went way to the back area and saw no boys in sight! Finally we realized they were still in line! They actually hadn’t even ordered yet! UGHH! Shortly though, they ordered and then Sam and I waited in line while they went to search for seats. I have to say, Y&Y on January 31 (SLOW season!) was the absolute slowest service I have ever experienced in WDW. Our past 2 trips have been in June and July, much busier times, and never have we waited as long as we did at Y&Y! It didn’t bother me too much but I didn’t want Sam and Joe to get the impression that this was the norm!
Anyway, we finally got the food and found the boys sitting in the back seating area. If anyone has ever eaten at Y&Y in the back seating area, you know what’s back there…birds. LOTS OF BIRDS! And if you know me, you know I’m really, super scared of birds. Yea, bad mix. We really had no choice but to stay there so I just picked my feet up onto my chair and ate like that so none of the ducks would come near my ankles lol I ate honey chicken, Chris got beef lo mein, Sam got honey chicken and Joe got Sweet and Sour chicken. Chris and I also got an eggroll to split and Sam and Joe each got chocolate mousse since they had the DDP.

We were all pretty hungry so we cleaned our dishes! It was around 1:15 by this point so we headed towards EE! Chris and I were so excited to meet with the Yeti again! The monkeys were hiding when we passed them on the way

So we’re about to walk on to the FP line and Joe says he can't ride a rollercoaster right now, he’s too full and he’ll get sick. Then he and Sam stood there for like 3-4 minutes going back and forth on whether they were going to ride, if Sam was gonna just come with us and leave Joe, if she was going to get sick too, etc. Finally, Chris and I say we’re going, come or don’t come! They ultimately decide stay back and wait for us. Of course, it was amazing as always! Hint:: Most rollercoasters are the most intense in the front…not EE! Ride in the very last row, you won’t regret it! Here’s our redneck picture, look at my crazy eyes haha

We met back up with Sam and Joe and headed off to our next destination…the safari! Off we went, snapping pictures non-stop along the way.

Love DeVine! At last, we made it to the safari. The standby time said like 15 minutes I believe so we decided to just wait in line. Well, what a good choice we made because there was NO WAIT. Literally, we walked all the way through the line and right onto a jeep. Crazy! So our tour guide was Bill and he was decent. I’ll post just some of the pictures I took since I know you’ve all seen them 100 times!

The male lion, unfortunately, was nowhere to be found and the female was lying down and we could barely see her…boo!
After the safari I checked the times guide and saw there was a Festival of the Lion King show at 2:30…it was about 2:15 so I figured we could hightail it over the Camp Minnie Mickey and see my favorite show in WDW. Problem was, the other members of my party weren’t in a rush like I was lol So I kept walking fast and getting ahead of them! We did stop for a few pictures along the way

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/073.jpg
We ran in JUST as the show was starting and were in the giraffe section…my least favorite section. I mean, do giraffes really make a “low bleeting sound, kind of like a sheep?” Who really even knows?! I never do well with getting clear pictures of this show but I do have a few!

Sam and Joe loved the show! I was so happy they liked it since it’s the most amazing show, in my eyes.
So where did we head next? You’ll have to wait until next time to hear about the rest of our day at AK and our evening with some Italian dinner!

I was in the Giraffe section the last time that I saw the FOTLK. I know, low bleating sounds? Really?
Oh no, the newbs backed out of EE at the last minute?! Argh! I would have just left them too. :lmao: It's not THAT intense of a ride that you'll get sick. Well, not to me.

I was so excited to get on and see that you had updated! :goodvibes
So exciting to turn in your vouchers for real AP's! Have yall decided on a Holiday trip at all, too?
I can't believe the longs were THAT long at Y&Y on a January afternoon! Luckily the food is delicious and worth the wait... even if you have to sit with birds
Why in the world did Sam & Joe not want to go on EE? They're craaazzyyy! :lmao: Full bellies is NOT an excuse!
Girl, I'd be right there with rushing to the Lion King show! Gahhhh, I love that so much!

No EE for Sam & Joe? :sad2: I hope they went back and rode it later. So glad they liked Safari and FOTLK. Your redneck ride photo is great! You look like you are having tons of fun.

Nice pictures. We didn't get to see Lion King in December. The line was so long that from where we were standing, the CM said we'd have to wait to get into the second show away.
I won't be in front of you making your line long for EE. I did it once, and I might do it again someday, but if I never do, I am good with that, too. It was a little too much for me.
Have a great weekend, girlie!

I'm glad your friends enjoyed several things at AK, after thinking it was just a zoo. As someone who feels sick on EE, I can understand them being nervous riding it jsut after eating. I do hope they at least tried it out later, as it is pretty fun despite the G forces being too intense for me. Or gave you their FPs. :rotfl:

Your AK day looks so nice! The weather looks like it was perfect. Great day for exploring :)
Though I don't know why you wouldn't go on EE! It's a perfect ride (and.. not that intense? At least not throwing up intense, and I'm super wimpy about roller coasters)! At least they went on the Safari and to FotLK (even if it was the giraffe section. It's still better than the warthog section).

Ok, I'm finally all caught up! I'm loving the TR so far! :goodvibes
I completely understand how it feels to be on a different pace than the people you're traveling with. It is so hard to be itching to get somewhere and everyone else is moving so slowly. That stressed me out quite a few times!

Climbing aboard to join in the fun. You're off to a great start. I have never visited with a newbie but imagine I would feel the same pressure to make them fall in love with it and want everything to be perfect. And I KNOW I would be upset when they weren't doing things "right."
Looking forward to more!

Hello!
I have a few questions about Pop- after seeing your pictures..
1. I see that you have an 80s room- which I love the "Little Mermaid" in your picture. What other building themes have you stayed in? Do you feel any of the buildings are "far" from the main building and buses?
See the reason why I ask this is because we have decided to do a preferred room this time.. usually we just do standard but it seems like the last couple of times we have been so far away from the main building- like 5 minutes or more and its gets old.. my mom said she wanted to be closer to the pools and stuff.
And when we went last May- we stayed at ASMovies. We ended up staying in the Love Bug buildings and we were disappointed with the room. It seems really outdated- like it needed to be refurbished or something.. everything from the blankets seemed old. I've never had this experience before and I always stay at value resorts. But when DH and I went before that we stayed at Pop and we loved the quality of the rooms and everything. I don't know if its because everything was newer there because it was a newer resort. But then we returned to Movies and were thinking "what the heck?!" Are all the rooms you've stayed at in Pop similar and the same quality?
I always loved ASMovies in the past- idk what happened.. maybe it was just a bad experience... but I want to make sure that it doesn't happen again.. and we are probably staying at Pop. As of right now, we are booked there but I have been debating doing the new resort- the Little Mermaid rooms- since those are the only standard non suite rooms. I'm just waiting to get more information on the resort- location of building, dining, etc... so we will see.
I did like your room pictures- its more what I remembered.. maybe the flat screen TV and the newer furniture is what did it.. idk.
thanks for sharing your trip! :goodvibes

Yes, AK is exactly like a zoo! ;) Wow. Between that and not knowing what EE was, I can really tell they did not do any research before the trip.
Yum! Y&Y is a must for us! I think we had one of our favorite meals with you and Chris our 2010 trip. :)
Love the crazy eyes and sleeping Chris.

How great that you had an uneventful flight and that your rooms at Pop were ready when you got there.
It sounds like your Animal Kingdom day is off to a good start even if the newbies didn't realize the necessity for hot footing it across the park to the show.

Climbing aboard to join in the fun. You're off to a great start. I have never visited with a newbie but imagine I would feel the same pressure to make them fall in love with it and want everything to be perfect. And I KNOW I would be upset when they weren't doing things "right."
Looking forward to more!
Heyy, thanks for coming over! It was a little frustrating thus far with the newbies. I wanted them to love everything!
Hello!
I have a few questions about Pop- after seeing your pictures..
1. I see that you have an 80s room- which I love the "Little Mermaid" in your picture. What other building themes have you stayed in? Do you feel any of the buildings are "far" from the main building and buses?
The 80s room was a great location for us this trip because we were so close to the buses. We've also stayed in the 50s and that was much closer to Classic Hall. For a short trip, 80s was perfect. A longer trip and I would have liked to be just a little closer to Classic Hall. We weren't far from CH by any means, just not so close as the 50s section.
I don't think I'd bother upgrading unless it's not much more expensive. The 50s section is super close to Classic Hall, not far from the buses and has it's own pool. Still, we were less than 5 mins from the Hippy Dippy Pool. All the rooms at Pop have been refurbished in 2010. In 2010 when we stayed at Pop, we actually didn't have a refurbished room as our section hadn't been done yet. This time we did and it was nice to have the flat screen TV as well as the curtain blocking the sink and bathroom area off from the sleeping area.
:goodvibes
ASMovies probably needs a refurb. The Art of Animation resort looks amazing so that'd be cool if you could stay there but Pop is sooo great too. You won't be disappointed.
Yay! You found De Vine! :thumbsup2
I love that giraffe picture you got on the Safari!
Totally a zoo hahaha They didn't do ANY research. We had the Y&Y CS this time and it was nearly as good as the TS! I loved that meal with you guys!
You know how Chris loves to "sleep" on rides lol Thanks!!
It looks like Sam and Joe and warming up to AK and starting to feel the magic! Hopefully they can settle in and "do" Disney! :goodvibes
They were starting to like Disney!
How great that you had an uneventful flight and that your rooms at Pop were ready when you got there.
It sounds like your Animal Kingdom day is off to a good start even if the newbies didn't realize the necessity for hot footing it across the park to the show.
Yes, we were having great luck! Our day was good although a little frustrating with the newbies.
Kristen- Love the Eyes in the EE pic and Chris looking like he's sleeping LOL! It must be an Amazing feeling getting those APs in your hands for the first time!!
I can't believe your friends wouldn't even try EE !! Crazy ! I hope your trip with them gets a lil better !!
haha thanks Colleen! It was great to get the APs!

So when I last left off we had just finished watching my favorite live show at Disney, Festival of the Lion King. Sam and Joe liked it a lot and Chris and I love it so we were doing well! At about this time it was just after 3:00 and we had 2 more hours until the park closed. I figured out the best way to hit the rest of the attractions we wanted to do without having to run all over the park again. Our first stop?
It’s Tough to be a Bug!
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/081.jpg
Chris and I hadn’t done this one since 2009. On that trip, I’d remembered the stinging and the ending where you let the bugs out first from a trip I took as a teen with my family. I was prepared and I sat up away from the back of the seat but of course, didn’t warn Chris. Sneaky, sneaky. Now Chris felt this would be an appropriate trick to play on Sam and Joe as well! We had just a few minutes to wait before the next show would start. I loved admiring all the carvings in the Tree of Life as we walked to the queue.

Shortly, it was our turn to enter! Well, Sam and Joe really loved the show! Like loved it a lot!! They were so shocked by the stinging and the crawling bugs as well as the “acid spray”. Chris thought he was the slyest guy ever too for pulling the little prank on them. All in all a good time!
Next stop? A must do at AK in my opinion…Dinosaur!! I think this ride is so awesome and was determined to finally keep my eyes open and look the t-rex at the end in the eye lol So, we headed to Dinoland
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/090.jpg
After a quick bathroom break by Restaurantosaurus, we walked to
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/091.jpg
We said “Hey!” to Mrs. Huxtable
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/093.jpg
And we were off! The results?
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/094.jpg
No luck with staring down the t-rex! Lol I hate loud noises too so I was plugging my ears like a small child. Oh well, I still love Dinosaur and so did Sam and Joe!! They almost wanted to ride it again but it was nearing 4:00 and we wanted to finish up the last goal for the day. Can you guess what it was??
We wanted to ride EE some more! As we were leaving Dinosaur and Dinoland I got a close up of these cool dudes
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/095.jpg
We headed back towards Asia. Here’s poor Chris’ boot…side note: he’s finally going back to work Sunday, yay!!

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/098.jpg
Apparently I put my camera away at this point…that doesn’t sound correct but my next picture is of us before dinner so whatever! Anyway, we made it to Asia and Sam and Joe still had FPs that they didn’t use before…however, there was no need to even use the FPs because the ride was a walk on! Luckily, Sam and Joe both decided to come this time! The reason we got frustrated before was because we were pretty sure they were just too scared to ride. Come on, if you’re 21 and 22 years old and your friends are telling you it’s not that bad of a ride, just try it! So we were happy they came with us this time.
Sam loved it!! Joe…eh he liked it. He didn’t like that it went backwards and it “made him nauseous”. Ok, fine. That didn’t hold Sam, Chris and I up though…we went and rode again, another walk on! After 2 quick rides, my head was starting to bother me. Chris wanted to ride one more time so he ran up while we waited for him. It was only like a 5 minute wait though so it wasn’t bad!
After our EE marathon, it was time to head out. It was 4:40 and we had to get back to Pop to shower before dinner. On the way out of the park we had to stop at Guest Relations one more time because I’d forgotten to purchase our Tables in Wonderland card! Luckily, we had $75 worth of Disney gift cards we’d received for Christmas so we didn’t lay out any money! When we got to the buses there was one there waiting for us! Perfect bus timing once again! Unfortunately, we had to stop at Blizzard Beach again but by 5:30, we were back at Pop. We headed to our respective rooms to shower and get ready for the night! I told Sam and Joe to be ready at 7:00…would they be on time??

Haha, I love your Dinosaur pic! :rotfl:
Ugh, Brandon had that same boot he was supposed to wear on our October trip! He said there was no way he could hobble around Disney in it, so he didn't even bring it, I'm surprised Chris didn't have a problem with it!

Bahahaha, I do the same exact thing in ITTBAB! When I went with one of my good friends back in 2008, I was sitting forward with my feet up on the back of the seat in front of me and my friend couldn't figure out why. She kept asking me if I was feeling okay. :rotfl: She soon realized exactly why I was doing it at the end!

*Referring to the above posting comment on Pop:
I know we will love Pop.. as we've stayed there before and we fell in love.. not with all the theming of the buildings but definitely with the quality. We want to upgrade so you will hopefully have a better chance at our "requested" buildings.. it never happens... and it would be really nice to be close to the classic hall and really close to a pool for a change.
EE always gets me the 2nd time. The first time is always ok, but when we ride it again right after- I always get a headache and my tummy is upset.. its the same for Austin. I actually always hold my head against the back of the seat and hold onto the head of the seat by my right hand and I don't feel so "shook" up.
I'm glad they are enjoying the trip so far- hopefully they fall in love with disney.
DH and I played that same trick on my bff last May at Bugs Life-- with the bee stinging.. hehe I laughed really hard when she said "ouch" and jumped. hehe:laughing:

No Disney cruises in the near future...they're just too darn expensive I haven't been able to justify the major price difference between DCL and Carnival or Royal Caribbean!

Chris was getting annoyed with the boot but he wore it. At that point he was in pain if he walked a lot without it so it kept him out of pain. The bad thing was at home he was always in pants so the boot was over pants...here it was on his bare leg and was bothering him!

Ok so in reading back this update to myself and to Chris, he made me realize I'd left out a huge part. Like HUGE...the explanation of the title! Clearly you all understand the "2 Pros and 2 Newbies" part...but I'm talking about the "LARRY!" part! It started this day at AK so let me add this little bit in.
Does anyone watch "Impractical Jokers" on truTV? If you don't, get yourself on youtube right now and type that in and be prepared to laugh your butt off. Seriously, one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Anyway, it's basically 4 guys from NYC who do the most hysterical pranks. In one episode, their "mission" is to cut this LONG line in Times Square of people who are waiting to buy discounted Broadway show tickets. If you've ever been in Times Square, you can't miss this booth and the long line that accompanies it. Let me give you the link and you all can see for yourselves. Just watch the first minute and that's the LARRY! part.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx2a-BYBetc
:rotfl: I die every time I see it. If you want to laugh youtube "impractical jokers white castle" and that one could make you pee your pants. Anyway, Chris, Sam, Joe and I are obsessed with this show. So in the middle of AK we had gotten a little split up from one another and we just hear "LARRY!! LARRY!!" from behind us. We turn around and it's Joe speed walking to catch up to us. Of course we found this hilarious so for the rest of the trip we'd just start yelling "LARRY!!" at the most random times.
So there you go, that's the story of Larry. The yelling lasted the whole trip although we never cut or attempted to cut any lines. Enjoy the last hours of your weekend TR readers!!

Yay! So glad to be all caught up! I must say, I totally get the "frustration" with those not willing (or understanding) to keep up the pace :) My own family is like that.
Second, I have been giggling here at my computer at your redneck pictures. I love that Chris is all "I think I'll take a nap now" in both of them. And I too, scream out loud and duck my head in Dinosaur. EE is my absolute favorite ride in Disney, with ToT right behind it. I couldn't ride ANY of them because I was preggo last trip so I'm really looking forward to the next one.
Great TR so far...I can't wait to hear more :):thumbsup2

I'd personally much rather roar than bleat lol I totally agree, we tried to tell them they wouldn't get sick but they wouldn't listen!
Rant: I have been in the Lion section EVERY SINGLE TIME and they never pick me to roar. I know I'm not a little kid but I would give the best roar ever. They do the show a million times a day, can't they pick a goofy 20-something year old just ONCE one single measley day?
Oh I miss EE. That is the greatest ride ever. I am jealous it was such a walk-on! Clearly I need to go to WDW during this time. I bought one of those snowball-looking yeti's on my 2nd trip. Landon and I "fight" over it...I truly don't need or want any stuffed animals except the yeti, obviously. So he knows its a yeti. I thought he knew that specifically was a yeti, but apparently he thinks that snowball shape is a yeti. You know how they have other round characters like that? Well one time one of my youth group kids got Landon a round Buzz...and now Landon calls it Buzz-Yeti! :rotfl:
You are a smart, smart girl about putting your feet up to eat! When I was eating at Flametree BBQ, I was all paranoid and Stephanie thought I was crazy and guess who got bit? Steph! Maybe you shouldn't go making fun of Kimmy :rolleyes1 lol
I recently put up a bunch of pictures of our last trip in a collage picture frame in my living room so I can just look up and see it all the time. I'll have to send you a picture of it. I'll have to send it from Garret's phone though since mine is completely done. (He is slowly accepting that his phone is pretty much shared now ) So at least we'll be able to talk again! I miss having you to text.
Can't wait for more my love!

Bahahahha. WE LOVE THAT SHOW! I clicked on your YouTube link to the Larry prank and Josh knew exactly what I was listening to all the way from our room.
Guess who's watching episodes On Demand now? :thumbsup2

It was definitely a good feeling not having to pay for the TiW card and it's already saved us so much money. We'd also been pretty lucky as far as the buses went so far!
With a big group, the Tables in Wonderland pays for itself very quickly! :thumbsup2
Looking forward to more of your Disney fun soon. You guys have a great weekend!
Love the "larry" video! That was too funny! :lmao:

I last left you all wondering whether Sam and Joe would be ready in time for our dinner reservation. We got back to the room and had about an hour and a half to get ready. Chris got in the shower first while I unpacked. This was the first time we’d been in the room since our luggage had been delivered and we were not about to live out of suitcases for the rest of the trip! By the time he was done, I was all unpacked and showered myself. We were all ready to roll at 7:00! Joe and Sam were just a few minutes behind us, so that was good and avoided anxiety for me. We got to the bus stop at 7:10 and waited for an Epcot bus. We were the only ones and the stop and took some pictures while we waited.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/100.jpg
After about 10 minutes, a bus showed up. We took off for Epcot and then planned on taking a bus to the Swan for our dinner reservation. Some people probably know right there what we did wrong. We got to Epcot, off the bus and went looking for a Swan bus. ROOKIE MISTAKE, KRISTEN! There are no buses for the Swan at Epcot! I really should have known that! Since Sam and Joe didn’t have park hoppers, we couldn’t even cut through Epcot. So stupiddddd of me!!! Our only choice at this point, since our reservation was in 5 minutes, was to hop in a cab. $15 later, we were at the Swan!
I’d never been inside the Swan or Dolphin resort before and it was just BEAUTIFUL! Very upscale looking and I know they have teacher rates which may come in handy to me at some point! I’m just not sure it was “Disney” enough for me. At any rate, we quickly found Il Mulino and headed through the bar area to check in. We were seated right away. The restaurant was also very upscale looking, despite some people being dressed like us…jeans and nice shirts. Because of the atmosphere, I don’t have any food porn from here, sorry!!
We began looking over the menus and Joe says “I hope this place is better than the place we ate at before!” I looked at him, confused, and said, “Are you talking about Yak & Yeti?” He was! Wow, he could have fooled me. He ate all of his food there, plus the remainder of Sam’s. Apparently he didn’t believe pineapple or peppers were supposed to be in sweet and sour chicken and he thought it was gross…I just kept my mouth shut. This would begin 5 days of non-stop complaining about food. Needless to say, I was hoping Il Mulino would blow our minds!
The four of us ordered our drinks…wine for Sam, beer for Chris and Joe and an Amaretto Sour for me. We also ordered rice balls for our appetizer. There was a spicy focaccia bread with olive oil on the table for us which we all devoured and loved. Our waiter was an older man and from the beginning, wasn’t super thrilled about serving us. I guess he saw four young people an automatically thought we couldn’t tip or something? He was slow but finally brought us our rice balls…without any plates to share. Luckily, a younger female waitress started taking care of us as well and she was quick to bring us some plates and more bread. The rice balls were delicious!! Soooo yummy!
While eating, the waiter came and took our orders. I ordered manicotti, Sam ordered tortellini, Joe ordered chicken in a white wine sauce and Chris ordered chicken parmesan. We’re all Italian and live in NY so we know Italian food…and this lived up to our standards! Everyone really loved their dinners. The only problem was, Joe’s chicken came in some type of red sauce, not a white wine sauce like the menu said. He liked it so it wasn’t a problem, but he caught the attention of the waiter and said that the menu said a white wine sauce and clearly, this wasn’t a white wine sauce. The waiter said “Oh, they don’t use a white wine sauce anymore, they use a red wine sauce.” He then just walked away. Ok, don’t you think he should have told Joe that PRIOR to allowing him to order it? That was the last we saw of Mr. Rude Waiter Man and for the rest of the meal the waitress took care of us.
When we were finished eating, no one had room for dessert but were offered some complimentary limoncello. The waitress brought it over and the smell alone turned Joe and I off! It smelled VERY strongly of alcohol! I’m probably just a wuss but Chris and Sam really loved it! We showed the waitress our Tables in Wonderland card and also our restaurant.com gift certificate. To my dismay, the restaurant.com gift certificate isn’t a GC in the eyes of the restaurant, but a discount…one that I was unable to use along with my TiW card. That was frustrating to me because I was counting on using both since nowhere on either did it say a GC couldn’t be used with the TiW card. The TiW card ended up being the better bet as we saved $29 using it. I turned to a table of women behind us and gave them our $25 GC to use because I didn’t want it to go to waste!
After settling the bill it was after 9…all of the parks had closed already so our most logical way to get back to Pop was to take another cab. But, as we excited Il Mulino, we ran into this handsome fella…
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/101.jpg
Goofy! What a pleasant surprise! While waiting for the cab we took some more pictures.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/105.jpg
Our cab actually ended up being a “courtesy car” from the Swan…a Hyundai Elantra lol The guy drove us back and wasn’t even charging us! Of course we threw him some money, thanked him and headed into Pop.
At this point I was craving something sweet so we walked through Everything Pop (where Chris had to be silly)
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR/106.jpg
to get some dessert. We got on line and I ordered a chocolate shake while Chris got a chocolate chip cookie. Sam and Joe were behind us and being bombarded by Brazilians, literally touching them while waiting in line. This was the start of some HORRIBLE run ins with the RUDE, ANIMAL-LIKE Brazilians. They quickly ordered their dessert, we ate and then headed back to our rooms. We were pooped! By 10:00, Chris and I were in dreamland!
That’s the end of day one! Sorry this update was very text heavy! Thanks for sticking around and for your lovely comments everyone! Next up: Day 2- DHS!!

I'm glad you understand how I was feeling!
LOL Chris poses like that for every redneck picture, as you will continue to see. I agree, EE is the #1 ride in Disney and ToT is for sure in my top 5. Thank you!
Rant: I have been in the Lion section EVERY SINGLE TIME and they never pick me to roar. I know I'm not a little kid but I would give the best roar ever. They do the show a million times a day, can't they pick a goofy 20-something year old just ONCE one single measley day?
LOL You would seriously be the best ROARER they had ever seen, just like you're the best clapper!!!
:rotfl:
Agreed. You should try WDW at this time, amazing with barely any waits. OMG, Buzz-Yeti...so cute! I miss Landon!!!
OMG I would have had a heart attack if I got bitten!!! LITERALLY!
Awww I'm so happy to know I'm on your wall. You're on my dresser in our picture from HDDR. I'm glad you're texting from G's phone now...text me a lot because I MISS YOUU!!!!
I hadn't seen that show but that's too funny! Although I do have to say, if I had been in the line when the second guy cut in and said, "I don't wait on lines," I would have lost my you-know-what! :lmao:
You should watch the show! I totally agree, that wouldn't have went over well with me lol

So glad to hear your dinner was good. I have never been in the Swan, only the Dolphin. My DH and I are staying at the BWV for a few nights in June and I might have to swing on over there and check it out. But I definitely do not want your waiter. :rotfl:
Cute pictures of the four of you.
I just noticed that you live in LI. I was there last weekend on a girl's trip and we rented a limo and visited a bunch of wineries. It was a blast, except for when we got kicked out of Martha Clara for showing up without a reservation. It was my first time up there and other than the drive through/around NYC, I had a blast!

I've seen those on restaurant.com, but I also have the TIW and that seems like the better deal especially since TIW covers alcohol.

I actually went up with my neighbor whose SIL/BIL live in Yapank, which is also west of Melissa. I really had no idea how big LI was. I knew nothing. Then another DISer told me Melissa was right smack in the middle of the wineries so I texted her and she was available for an impromptu meet.
It was definitely a fun way to spend the afternoon and I bet its simply gorgeous there in the summer and fall. You should try it. But since its in your own backyard you can put it off for awhile. That's what I tend to do with anything local to me.
I did tell Melissa I thought we should do a girl's weekend up there with DISers. Those who can drive up to the area and meet up. I think it would be so fun!

Thank you all for being patient with me since I haven’t updated in too long! You know the deal; life gets in the way of DIS time. I’ve been working and going to the gym after work nearly every day! I’ve lost 6.5 lbs. and have another 6.5 to go before we go to tinkgurl’s for her bridal shower! Then I have another 10 to lose before her wedding and KEEP IT OFF until my wedding! I’m doing well and am so determined! Anyway, let me get on with our DHS day!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The alarm went off at 7:25 and I woke up feeling pretty good! We’d gotten to sleep early and slept well so we were ready for our first full Disney day. I got showered and then woke up Chris to get ready while I did my makeup. Luckily, Sam and Joe were ready in time and we made it to the bus stop by 8:30. There was a longggggg line at the bus stop…thankfully, there were two buses waiting but they took a bit long to load. We made it on bus number two and over to DHS by 8:55. I was a little upset because I’d wanted to get to the park faster but the crowds weren’t bad.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/001.jpg
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/002.jpg
They’d already dropped the rope (before 9:00, I was confused and made sure to check my phone for the time) so after we got through the turnstiles I grabbed everyone’s ticket and hightailed it to TSM. I told Chris, Sam and Joe I’d meet them back by Starring Rolls. I knew Chris wasn’t going to be able to keep up with my “speed walking” in his big walking boot. To my surprise, there was not really much of a mob heading over to TSM. It made me nervous because I thought I was way behind the big crowd or something.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/003.jpg
However, when I made it over past Voyage of the Little Mermaid, I expected to see the FP line stretching back to One Man’s Dream…and I didn’t see anything. In fact, I walked right up to a FP machine with not a single person in front of me and several open machines! I was literally in shock! I guess since the last two trips to WDW were over the summer, I’d gotten used to the enormous line. I mentioned it to the CM and we talked for a minute or so about how low the crowds were and she said how much more pleasant it is for everyone during the slow season! So, with 4 TSM FPs in hand, I walked back over to Starring Rolls to meet the rest of the group.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/004.jpg
At this point it was just after 9:00 and, again, much to mine and Chris’ surprise, Starring Rolls was empty with every seat open outside. We decided to take advantage of this since we hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. I went for the infamous red velvet cupcake for the first time. Usually I’m a Butterfinger cupcake kinda girl but this time I decided to switch it up after so many people raving about the red velvet! Chris got his usual, a cinnamon bun which is unfortunately nothing like the one at the Main Street bakery. I took a picture of my red velvet after I’d already cut into it and didn’t take a picture of Chris’ flat, but tasty cinnamon bun.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/005.jpg
Sam and Joe had apparently eaten in there room before we left. Joe had gone down to Everything Pop and filled up their mugs and gotten them some food. So, they just sat with us while Chris and I ate. I didn’t finish the whole cupcake because the cream cheese frosting was getting to be a little much for me. When we were done, we headed down Sunset Blvd. to two of the best rides in theme park history!!

If you couldn’t figure it out, that’s where we headed first, the Tower of Terror! As we’re approaching Joe is like “Wow, you guys do everything a$$ backwards, I can’t go on this after just eating.” Ummm, sorry Joe, we’ve done this a few times and we’ll be fine. I think Sam was actually able to convince him to ride with us though this time.
We headed to the ToT line and…it was nonexistent! We literally walked right into the elevator. I was able to get a few pictures of the insane detail in this queue but there was no line so I didn’t have much time to stop and get good ones. Sam and Joe were very impressed by the detail in here.

As usual, ToT was amazingggggg!!!! Definitely top 5 favorite Disney rides. Wow, unbelievable how much Chris and I love this ride!!! Sam loved it as well but of course Joe “didn’t feel well” now that he rode it after eating (in the room, over an hour before we rode.)
The next logical move was to head to Rockin’ Rollercoaster, another top 5 fave!! Once again, NO LINE, none at all! However, Joe wasn’t ready to ride another thrill ride yet so he sat this one out and waited for us.

Sam screamed the entire ride!! It was so great and she loved it so much! I didn’t know prior to riding but this was her first “real” rollercoaster ever! She was so happy that she braved it and wanted to definitely ride again later.
That’s all for now my friends. Our morning had started off pretty great with low crowds and quickly getting on our favorite rides. What would the rest of the day bring? Stay tuned!

Not understanding this "no rides" after eating thing?! I mean, I wouldn't want to ride TOT after I stuffed myself silly at Ohana or something, but a small breakfast an HOUR before?! I'm thinking he was just afraid of the rides.
SO JEALOUS of the short TSMM FP lines! I've never seen them empty-- unless it's with a chain and "no FP left" sign!

I am a major lurker on the dis and definitely Trip Reports but I saw this and just had to comment! Last December when we went to Disney World my friend did the same exact thing! We were waiting in line and then as we were loading she said "You guys know this is my first real roller coaster!" She was all calm about it but we were like :scared1: Very nervous for her but she went on and loved it too! I just found this ironic that we had the same thing happen with a roller coaster newbie!

Love it! Chris is "sleeping" on ToT! I'm starting to get the impression that Joe is one of those people that just needs something to complain about. He would have driven me NUTS! I hope he didn't bring you all down too much. I'm glad Sam was enjoying herself though!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Starrring Rolls Cafe. Although I'll admit, I always get the cinnamon bun when I'm there. I've never had a cupcake there, but I'm thinking I may have to try one on my next visit!
ToT is my all time favorite ride in Disney (tied with EE though). I can't wait to go on it...it's been almost 3 years!
I don't get the whole no riding after eating thing either. In fact, I would rather have something in my stomach than be really hungry when I do those rides. But - hey - maybe that's just me.
I did drag my whole family on ToT on evening after we had just stuffed ourselves at H&V fantasmic dinner. I wasn't very popular that night. :rotfl: But - hey - we had FP's to use. :thumbsup2
Those red velvet cupcakes are quite popular right now. I have seen them on a lot of TRs lately.
Too funny that you live right near Yaphank. If we ever do a girl's winery tour you are so in!
Congrats on the weight loss!

We did a sleeping picture on Test Track, but it's such a great idea to do one on TOT. So much funnier! :rotfl:
I LOVE Chris' shirt! The beach, Disney and Stitch are truly paradise for me! :cloud9: Where did he get it?
I get motion sickness on several rides, and have to be careful about not doing certain rides after eating, or not doing them twice in a row. But either Joe gets it worse than I do, either he's scared, or he just likes complaining. :confused3

okay first of all, going back to your other posts... the show you posted, impractical jokers, had me laughing SO HARD. Omg that was GREAT lol!!! I'm going to get kevin to watch that with me!!!
Second, I'm sorry that Joe didn't like his food, what was that about!!! who goes to disney and doesn't like their pixie dusted magical food?? its almost like it's made by the mouse himself!!
third, you take great pictures!! i like your pics of AK and now at hollywood studios. I never tried their red velvet cupcakes... infact, the butterfinger one i got last time was the first time i had any there. we went there last year and i think all i had was a muffin and yogurt or something.. who knows.
And I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE your pic on ToT! You look like me when i'm on it.. i am totally immersed (? did i use that word right?) in that ride!!!!! Totally awesome.

I love Chris sleeping in all the pictures! :rotfl: We pose, of course, but never thought to do "sleeping" pictures. And I love the pictures from inside RnRC, I somehow didn't get on it in January. I am with you, I miss Disney soooo much!

Girl, neither was I! He was absolutely just afraid of the rides. Luckily, Chris and I were just like ok, go or don't go, but we're not waiting for you!
I was literally in shock with the lack of line at the FP machines for TSM!

I've definitely seen those red velvet cupcakes on many a TR recently too. I still am more of a fan of the butterfinger cupcake though.
I look forward to the girls winery tour!! And thank you!
I love the way the palm trees line the street. This always makes for a pretty picture.
I especially like this when the trees are decorated for Christmas!

Another person who does the sleeping pose! I'm not sure why Chris is so in love with it lol
Thanks! I remember we saw it in the World of Disney in June 2011 and didn't get it that time and then regretted it and searched for it the rest of the trip. We ended up finding it in one of the stores on Sunset Blvd. in DHS. I'm sorry, I don't remember the name of it though :(

Hi everyone! Thank you all for staying with me through this TR. I know I’m not the fastest with updates but I have been trying for getting one at least every week to 10 days! In an case, I really appreciate all who have stayed around, tuned in for the next update!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When we’d last left off, we’d just ridden RnRC which we found out was Sam’s first rollercoaster ever and she loved it! Joe was being wimpy and didn’t ride. Would he later? You’ll have to wait to see! There wasn’t anything specific on the agenda yet so we took a few pictures and then headed back down Sunset Blvd.

Up Sunset Blvd. we went, stopping to check out some things until we made it to Villains in Vogue!

ViV usually has a fairly good selection of Vinylmations so Chris and I have made it a “tradition” of sorts to make sure we always stop in here…and we always end up buying something too, usually vinyls! For those of you who don’t really know Chris and I or haven’t read any of my TRs before, we never really did get into the whole pin collecting/trading phenomenon. However, on I believe our second trip together, we got sucked right into Vinylmations. Currently, all of ours are packed away for when he and I move out and into our own place. But we’ve already began planning how we’ll display them and all. I’d say we probably have about 40 which really isn’t very many! Anyway, we walked into ViV to see this

Vinyls galore as always!! We ended up buying 3 new ones including these Zodiac ones that I’m pretty sure were new to the parks!

I picked out some Mickey cookie cutters, we paid, using our AP discount for the first time in a store, had the merchandise sent back to Pop and went to meet up with Joe and Sam who’d wandered off.
Joe and Sam were sitting, looking bored near Starring Rolls so we started walking towards the Great Movie Ride since our TSM FPs weren’t good yet. As soon as we walk in front of the Hat, Chris and I spot some streetmosphere actors, yay!! We loveeeeeeeeee the streetmosphere actors! The group of people was growing in front of them so Chris and I joined. Joe and Sam didn’t want to watch so they wandered off again. Soon, the actors began setting up for a trivia show! The “cop” was going to face off against a guest in a trivia contest. In order to pick a guest, they asked a question and then the first guest that knew the answer had to “walk” up to the little table they had set up and hit the bell and then say their answer. I’m totally not shy and knew I had a decent wealth of Disney knowledge so I was raring to go! So, they ask the question…”What was Walt Disney’s first animated film?” I knew the answer!! I start speedwalking to the table to hit the bell and I realize no one else is even approaching the table! I hit the bell and answer “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and I was right! I was now a part of the trivia show!

Apparently I put my camera in my purse before I walked up to answer the question because there are none of me playing the contest lol Chris took some on his phone though because he was loving me being up there, cheering me on from the sidelines. So, they ask one question in the contest, I ding right in and get it right. I can’t remember that question. Then they ask something about Fantasia and what the Sorcerer’s name was I think? The answer was Yensid, Disney backwards but the cop got that one right. Then the final question…”What lifted the house in the movie “UP?” Quicker than me, the cop dings in and says “BALLOONS!” and I’m like darn, I lost. To my surprise, the “host” says, INCORRECT! At that point, another actor leans over to me and whispers in my ear, helium lol So they ask me, I get it right and I win! It was so much fun and this, my dear friends, is one of the infinite number of reasons I love Disney more than I can put into words. For winning, I was given 4 FPs for the Tower of Terror! So fun!!!

After my 5 mins of fame, I text Sam and Joe to see where they are. Once again, we meet up and they had gone off and met Minnie! At least they’d done something instead of just sitting there waiting for us this time. Anyway, they were excited I’d won ToT FPs. We all decide now to head over to our original destination, the Great Movie Ride! Sam was intrigued by all the handprints in front of the theater.
I was only 1 ½ when Minnie made these prints lol

When we got to the front of the line I asked for us to ride the Western cowboy side…in all our trips I’ve always been on the gangster side! Without a problem, they moved us right into a car for the cowboy side, yay! I took some pictures throughout the ride but since you’re moving the whole time and in low lighting, they never come out well.

Of course when we get off, Joe makes it clear he didn’t like that ride. Ugh. Luckily, we spot Eeyore and Tigger right outside the GMR. For some reason Mr. I Don’t Like Disney is into getting pictures taken with characters. I didn’t feel like getting my picture with them so we just waited for Sam and Joe and took pictures for them on their phones and cameras while the PP lady took some too.

We all loveddddd it except Joe said it made him nauseous which I’ll actually give him this time because it makes me a little woosy too with all the spinning and whipping around.
Sam and Joe had lunch reservations at 12:30 at 50’s Prime Time but it was only about 11:30 at this point so we decided to go try and ride RnRC again, this time with Joe actually joining us.
On our walk over…

We head back up Sunset and as we’re approaching the RnRC line we see a LOAD of Brazilians going through the FP line. Our mission immediately became beat the Brazilians because we knew having them in front of us would 1) be annoying and 2) make our wait significantly longer. Us four start “slow jogging” through the queue and make it all the way through to the first little area where you wait to go into the recording studio before most of the Brazilians, they got split up. While we’re waiting, the Brazilian girls behind us are continually bumping into us and trying to squeeze past us. Now Chris is in his big walking boot so I’m like thinking they’re gonna push him out of the way or something since he’s not completely stable (although in retrospect he was much larger than any of them but clearly he wasn’t going to stiff arm any girls or use his strength against them lol). Anyway, one girl then decides to literally grab Sam’s arm, push her to the side and move her away from the wall so she could squeeze past her. I right away push Sam and tell the girl to cut it out. A few seconds later, the doors open. The same girl then begins to try and RUN and push past us. I put out my arm but the girl steps on the back of Sam’s flip flop and makes not only Sam, but herself too not be able to go anywhere because Sam is in her way. Sam screams a profanity at her, puts her arm up and the girl backed off. SERIOUSLY?! I will say it right now, the Brazilian tour groups are absolutely animals. They are rude, loud and have zero manners or respect for personal space. I don’t get why Disney allows them to get away with their behavior. My only reasoning could be that these groups bring Disney tons of money each year and that saddens me that Disney would let them behave like barbarians for their money. Needless to say we were fuming mad. Eventually though, we make it into the recording studio room and on to the ride and then far, far away from the psychotic Brazilians.
We get off the ride and it was as awesome as ever. Joe even said he liked it but then started to get into a little mood because he was hungry. Here’s our redneck pic…I like it lol

It was close to 12 now so we decided to try and head over to 50’s to get them into lunch early. We walked up to 50’s and Sam and Joe went inside while we waited outside to make sure they were able to get in. They were so off they went to eat while Chris and I weren’t sure what we should try to do. Were we hungry for lunch yet? Where would we eat?

Great update! I love Villains in Vogue, especially for Vinylmations...the CM's there are usually pretty nice about trading too, they like to help you find what you want! :thumbsup2
That's so cool that you were in a trivia game and won FP's! Too bad they weren't for TSM!
So strange that Joe seemed to complain about everything but liked the characters? He looks like he's having a good time in your pictures! :confused3
Brandon and I are really competitive on TSM too, and I always beat him! I think that's why he doesn't like it all that much!
OMG. Your Brazilian tour group story just made me SO mad and I wasn't even there! I don't get why Disney lets them act that way either. I mean, I know they can't tell tour groups they can't come to Disney, but they can do something about the behavior. I would have flipped out if someone actually touched me to shove their way past me. :sad2:
Great update!
So cool that you won the streetmosphere game and got 4 FP's. :woohoo: Way to know your Disney trivia.
And you got the cowboy side on GMR. I have only had the cowboy side once. Love the pics!
Yeah for getting EVERYONE on RnR the second time around AND for having the top score on TSM. Cute redneck ride photo.
So where DID you guys go for lunch?

I finally got caught up girl! These past two updates reminded me of all the fun we had together there!
I'm glad you didn't have to deal with the crazy mob to TSM this time! Poor Chris didn't get to enjoy being trampled.
Yum, that cupcake looks good. I might have to try it! Or Fiance will!
I forgot you were part of the street show!! I will have to see one of the pictures Chris took on his phone!
Wow..I can't believe what happened in line!! :scared1: I'm sure that just made Sam not like WDW even more. :guilty:
Yay for the Cowboy scene! We love it because we love John Wayne. But, we also like the Gangster scene because their accents remind us of you and Chris.

I can't believe you had such a ridiculous experience in line at RnRC! We had something like that happen in the same spot you did on the trip before this past one...it was two couples and this one guy was trying to shove his way past my sister, who isn't quite 5'3". This guy was a good six or seven inches taller than her. When my dad and I saw, we all had words...SO ridiculous!
YAY TSM! That's an awesome score, good job beating Chris  :thumbsup2 So cool you were part of the street show too!
Okay, GMR. We also always get the gangster side!! I think we might have had cowboy a longggg time ago. I am so glad I see it on reports because I'd seriously think it was a myth otherwise!

We actually had a vinylmation to trade and left it at home! Grrrr! I did wish my FPs were for TSM instead of ToT since ToT barely had a wait all day!
Joe was having a decent time, I just don't think Disney was his type of vacation.
Disney absolutely needs to control the Brazilian tour groups. It's not fair how the rest of the guests who also are paying to be there get treated by them!
Great update!

It was great beating Chris on TSM lol usually we each win one round! I loved being a part of the streetmosphere!

I'm finally caught up with your mega updates! :cool1: Strange that your waiter at the Swan was so rude - but it's great you got a good meal! Hmmm, Joe is kind of a drama queen. :rotfl: Pretty awesome you got an EE marathon! How fun for Sam to ride her first roller coaster! Too bad the Brazilian tour groups are so obnoxious - Disney should require them to go through a culture class or something. Maybe everyone needs to start complaining loudly and get the CMs involved. Of course Obama just invited more of them to come to WDW to stimulate the economy. :headache:
Larry! That video is really funny.:rotfl2: It's so fun to have those "had to be there" jokes to enjoy together!

Thanks for being patient between updates everyone! Here we go, on with day 2!
When I last left off, Joe and Sam had just checked in early for their lunch ADR at 50’s Prime Time Café. Chris and I weren’t eating with them. As we were walking away from dropping them off, we were relieved. We definitely needed some time away from them, alone to enjoy our favorite place without the whining. I was now all worried about them hating all the ADRs I went out of my way to make for them but Chris said, “Kristen, if they don’t like 50’s, there’s something wrong with them. If they don’t like it, I’m done.” They’d been complaining about so much but didn’t do any research themselves on ANYTHING before the trip and it was already wearing on us. But, we were determined to enjoy our time alone. So, we headed over towards where we’d figured we’d be eating lunch, Pizza Planet. First though, we stopped someplace we’d never ventured into before…
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/058.jpg
The Writer’s Stop! How cute is it in there?! We loved it! Unfortunately we knew we didn’t have a lot of time to spare before Sam and Joe would be done eating so we quickly browsed through, not really getting to enjoy it.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/060.jpg
We continued our walk to PP…
My favorite fountain lol

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/063.jpg
We’d be back here later
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/061.jpg
We entered PP and it was a MOB SCENE. I’d never seen it (or any CS for that matter) so crazy packed out. We have been to WDW in the crazy summer months and considering the lack of crowds EVERYWHERE else in the park, I was shocked at how many people were here.
I took this picture standing at the back of the line, waiting to order
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/064.jpg
INSANITY! Chris stood with me for a minute, told me what he wanted and then went off in search of a table. I told him to text me when he picked a table so I’d know where he was. I really think I waited in line like 20 mins. At Yak and Yeti, we waited a long time but that was because the kitchen was slow…here, the people and cashiers were slow!! I kept my calm though, no need to get angry, especially when Buzz is right behind you!
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/065.jpg
So, Chris texted me and was upstairs with a table. I finally got our food and met him up there. I didn’t take a picture but you all know what the Disney personal pizzas look like. I got cheese pizza and Chris got pepperoni. We got a large orange soda and split it. All too soon, Sam was texting me that they were almost done with lunch. Too fast! Lol so we finished up and told them where we were and gave them directions to meet us.
They met up with us and Joe had some of the PB&J milkshake in a to-go cup which he loved…otherwise, they said they hated 50’s. I was at a loss. They said they each got mom’s sampler platter, the one that has the meatloaf, pot roast and fried chicken I believe?) and only liked the chicken. Chris was visibly annoyed. I mean, if they didn’t like it then they didn’t like it but I think Chris was more annoyed because they had the nerve to complain when I made all their ADRs with NO help from them of where to go and they didn’t even bother to check the menus I sent them either. Whatever. We attempted to blow it off and went and saw Muppets 3D which makes Chris smile so he calmed down! Joe and Sam thought it was ok.
After Muppets we all decided we wanted to head back to Pop for a break. To the front of the park we went!

The old Hollywood feel of this park is pure genius, I love it!!
We didn’t wait too long for a bus, maybe 10 mins, and by 1:55 we were back at Pop. I believe Joe and Sam hung by the computer pool for a while but Chris and I just laid down for a nap!
We woke up at 3:15, changed and freshened up and got a bus back to DHS at 3:50! We made it to the park and knew what we wanted to do…Lights! Motor! Action! The boys knew they wanted to see this show since first thing in the morning. We began walking that way but had a nice diversion along the way…

They are easily our favorite streetmosphere actors. They are soooo funny and crack us up every time! It was getting closer to 4:30 now so we went on. Before heading into the LMA arena, we stopped at the little refreshment stand outside and all got frozen cokes! Yum!
We headed into the arena and got decent seats even though the show was just about to start. From here on, the pictures will say it all!

Now was the perfect time to go to Star Tours! We were on the right side of the park and we planned to hit ST and then use our second set of TSM FPs! On the way over, we passed the Phineas and Ferb meet and greet, which had a long line.

As you can see, we had made it to Star Tours! I was excited to ride again with the update to get a different scenario than we had gotten back in June!

So I know NOTHING, literally NOTHING about Star Wars and have no clue what scene we got lol I do know I liked it better than the one we had in June! Star Tours does make me a little queasy though so this time when Joe said he felt a little nauseous afterwards, I could agree with him!
Next up, we rode TSM again with our second set of FPs from earlier! We wandered over slowly with some pictures along the way.

I creamed her, but it was only her second time riding so I’m not going to gloat lol

That was a new personal high score as well, thank you very much! But then we pulled up to this part…
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/095.jpg
Chris had beaten me, darn!!! That was a personal best for him as well. We still had some time before the park was going to close so I decided it’d be fun to try and get into an animation class! It was 6:00 so we walked over that way.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/097.jpg
I asked the CM waiting at the door to the animation classroom how much longer until the next show and she said the last show of the night was at 6:30…a half hour away. We weren’t going to be sticking around that long so unfortunately, we didn’t get to do it. I think Sam and Joe really would have liked that!
There were a ton of characters out inside the building though! Of course the Disney Hater wanted some shots.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/099.jpg
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/100.jpg
They also got their picture with Sorcerer Mickey but The Incredibles, Mary Poppins and the penguin, and the Winnie the Pooh characters were out, plus more that I’m sure I’m forgetting! Once we were done, we perused the art gallery on the way out. Chris lovessss checking out all the Disney art and wants to get some for our home when we have one! We particularly liked this one and Super Bowl was in just a few days at this point.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/103.jpg
Joe and Sam had made their way out of the art gallery so I followed and realized Chris was still inside. So I went in and got him and at this point he got a little annoyed with me. He felt like all I was worried about was if Joe and Sam were having a good time and totally disregarding whatever Chris wanted to do. I felt bad because I realized he was right. I was so caught up with wanting them to have a good time (which I was pretty much failing at anyway) that I wasn’t even taking into account what Chris wanted to do. I apologized and told him I would work on it! Of course, Joe and Sam didn’t hear our little whispered “argument” lol
Our plan when we were done was to head over to ToT and RnRC and give them each one last ride before we headed out for the night (the park closed at 7). On the way over though, Mulch, Sweat and Shears were playing in front of the hat! I KNEW Chris would wanna stay and watch this so we stopped.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/104.jpg

Standing there listening to them reminded us of when we watched them back in 2010 with tinkgurl and her fiancé! Joe and Sam didn’t want to stay and watch but I didn’t care to be honest…they are adults and were able to stay if they wanted or walk away if they didn’t and do whatever. I’m honestly not even sure where they went but we watched for a good 15 minutes or so. I don’t remember what song they were playing at the time but at one point, a family walked past us with 2 little girls, a mom and a dad and the dad was pushing a(n) (empty) stroller while carrying on daughter and wearing her princess mouse ears. As he walked past he was rocking, swaying and dancing to the music while his daughters and wife were laughing giddily. I tell you, that moment nearly brought tears to my eyes. I said to Chris, “Well that’s only something you’d see in Disney World!” and it’s true. They were just being goofy, having a wonderful time together, as a family. I love, love, loveeeee mine and Chris’ trips that our just him and I but I really do look forward to bringing our own kids later in life and showing them the Disney magic.
After we’d watched a little longer I texted Sam and they were already down but ToT and RnRC so we went that way. Joe had some excuse not to but Chris, Sam and I headed to RnRC. Actually, as Chris and I were approaching the ride, a father and son gave us two FPs they weren’t going to use! How nice! But, we weren’t able to use them anyway because there were 3 of us. The wait time said 20 mins so we just got in the regular line. It did end up being the full length of time, so the sign was accurate.
Took this while on the RnRC line
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/108.jpg
Let me tell you, it’s hard to pretend to sleep for this one since the camera is right at the beginning when you take off super fast!
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/109.jpg
By the time we were done with the ride it was 7:05 so we decided to skip ToT since they probably wouldn’t have let us in line at that point anyway since the park was technically closed. Time for us to head out! I took this last picture as we walked away from RnRC.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u124/xoktenox/Jan%20Feb%202012%20WDW%20TR%20Day%202/110.jpg
We got just a little bit down Sunset Blvd. and I realized I’d left my sweatshirt on the ride! Ahh! So I literally ran back to the ride exit and luckily they had it! Chris, Sam and Joe waited for me and I caught back up with them in no time.
Next stop?? The Polynesian!!!!

How can you NOT like 50's PTC???? I loved it, but then again I had amazing company when I went there. ;) I loved all of it though! So fun! DHS just makes me so happy! I'm so glad that you guys were starting to just do what you wanted to more than just worry about them. some people are just never satisfied! I love that you stop and notice the little things, those things mean so much! those are the moments that make the vacations worthwhile!! I love CM's and believe they do a FANTASTIC job, but they can't literally provide magic every single second. That is why I think our favorite place is more magical to the people who are happy enough to be able to produce their own magic! Those wonderful folk like you and me! :rotfl:
Yay personal bests at TSM! I'm FINALLY able to start actually playing. My scores have alwasy sucked because I'm trying to keep Landon from getting whiplash and sliding all over when it spins! Although Garret's best friend Brandon whose mom goes all the time is starting to tell him secret spots to hit for that ride and stuff...I'm a little worried. If he were to beat me his first time, I'd die! lol  And I love that and Chris were both asleep on RnRc. So cute. You guys are adorable.
But...skipping ToT? Cardinal sin. You're killing me!

I am so sorry that your friends didn't like or appreciate Disney World like we do. I think we feel some 'ownership' in that place, and we want others to at least like what we have so much invested in.
I'm glad you let up on trying to please them, because you're right, it wasn't working, and it had to be getting frustrating for both you and Chris.
I don’t remember what song they were playing at the time but at one point, a family walked past us with 2 little girls, a mom and a dad and the dad was pushing a(n) (empty) stroller while carrying on daughter and wearing her princess mouse ears. I love this. When I see men with Goofy hats on or a big Donald on their shirts or mommies dancing around the streets with their little ones. I am pretty sure that back in the real world they have to be businesslike, subdued, and all grown-up most of the time, and everyone needs to let go and be silly and be a kid sometime. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I'm late joining in!
I don't think I'd be able to deal with a Disney hater in Disney!!! But I hOpe they ended up enjoying it in the end! I was getting anxiety reading your posts about the negativity. I would of been like you though worried that they hated it!
Anyways can't wait to read more!
How about them Yanks???? Beating Boston like that on Saturday?!? Woohoo!

Yay, glad to see an update from you! :goodvibes
Ugh, I can't believe your friends didn't like the ADR you made for them. I haven't been to 50's yet, but from what I've seen from the menu, it doesn't seem all that exotic, it seems like you can find something anyone would like on there! :sad2:
It seems like you guys managed to have fun when you met up again for the rest of the day though! Star Tours is awesome, but I do feel a bit nauseous after that ride, which is weird for me, because I don't get motion sickness!
I think it's so weird that Joe complains so much about Disney yet wants pictures with the characters! :rotfl:
Glad you guys had fun watching Mulch, Sweat and Shears and got to do something Chris wanted to do, that has to be hard, trying to do things you guys know you enjoy doing and keeping two newbies happy at the same time! I feel like I'd get annoyed after a while and be like "just go do whatever you want, I don't care!" :rotfl2:

Kristen- I feel so bad for you ! Did they like any of the ADR's? I really do not understand how they couldn't like 50's Prime Time! I wouldn't have beat myself up if I were you ! You told them to research what they wanted and gave them the info and they didn't do it so that is on them . We've stood and watched that band quite a few times they are really good . I'm hoping this gets a lil better at some point for you but it's not looking that way :(

Um, they didn't like 50's!? That's like Disney sacrilege right there. How can you not like the 50's PTC? It's got everything. Crazy servers, great food, awesome shakes. I'm at a loss.
I know what you were feeling though. There is this complete sense of nervousness when you are visiting with someone who's been there for the first time. I went with my best friend in January, who had never been, and I was really nervous about it the whole time too. It worked out for me because she loved it, but I'm sorry it wasn't working out for you.

We LOVE the publics works men!! The one with the glasses, Frederick, is a favorite of ours, especially my mom's. I think it was when my sister and I were going to ride ToT, we passed them and saw Frederick, so I immediately had to call my mom and tell her where to find him.
I also know nothing about Star Wars, so when I was trying to explain the ride to my boyfriend, he kept on asking me all these questions I couldn't answer. I get the queasiness on there, too - I swear it's the simulator rides that get me because I can do EVERY thrill ride and be fine!
I love your RnRC picture!! You guys are amazing, pretending to be asleep on THAT one! :rotfl:

Sorry that Joe is just complaining. I so get focusing on trying to make them happy. He just does not appreciate the planning you have done. :sad2:
Yet he will stand in line for the characters. Go figure.
Ugh - It's only Day 2 and you are breathing a sigh of relief when you get away from your friends. NOT a good sign!
You should have sent them to pizza planet and done the 50's ADR. I personally love that meal because the food is good and the entertainment is even better.
I hope things start to improve and you are going to be wanting a do-over! That's how I felt in May a couple years ago when we went with friends who didn't really "get it". You just can't make people love it!

Yay personal bests at TSM! I'm FINALLY able to start actually playing. I was so proud of myself on TSM! haha OMG I remember you having to hold on to Landon and I don't blame you, that thing whips you around! You CANNOT let Garret beat you on his first time!!
I knew you wouldn't be pleased that we skipped ToT...that is SERIOUSLY breaking a Kimmy rule lol

You're 100% correct about feeling ownership of WDW. I feel like it's "mine" and I need to defend it and it's hard when people just don't get it. It was a lot better when we just stopped caring what they thought so much and enjoyed OUR happy place.
I love this. When I see men with Goofy hats on or a big Donald on their shirts or mommies dancing around the streets with their little ones. Oh I defiintely get motion sickness, only on simulator rides usually! But ST does shake you up a bunch!
The pictures thing was so weird lol We kept telling them they were allowed to go off and do whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted but they never wanted to just go off and explore, must to our dismay!

Finally I am going to finish up our first full day! Ahhh I’m taking so long lol oh well, this is helping tide me over until we are in WDW again in 176 days!!
When I last left off we were leaving DHS as it was closing and we had dinner reservations to get to. Our dinner reservations were at the Polynesian so we went to the bus stop that services the Poly, GF and CR. It didn’t take too long for a bus to show up and the first stop along the route was the Contemporary. Since we had a little time to kill, we got off here. As we walked into the CR Joe says “Now this place is more OUR style.” I said to him, “Yea, if you want to pay $250 and up per night!!” Joe had complained that this trip was costing a lot of money (we got Pop for $57 a night, didn’t really think that was a lot!!) but then complained about Pop and made this comment about the CR. What the heck?! Anyway, we got a little lost trying to find the monorail! I knew it was up on the 5th floor but I guess we’d never taken the bus and then tried to find the loading platform haha
We did eventually find the monorail and hopped on over to the Poly!! I was really excited for Sam and Joe to see our favorite, dream resort! We were still early for dinner so the plan, well my plan, was to go watch Wishes from the beach and then check in for dinner. So, that’s what we did, we headed outside!
We managed to find some empty beach chairs and it was a little breezy and cool being by the water. However, the chairs were COVERED in bird poop. A couple sitting near us gave us the idea to grab beach towels and cover the chairs so we did! I ran back up by the pool and got 4 towels and made it back JUST in the nick of time for Wishes to start. I don’t have a great camera so my pictures aren’t great but here they are!

Watching Wishes from the Poly beach is one of my absolute favorite things to do in WDW. I’m pretty sure Joe was underwhelmed but Sam LOVED it! She’s a big fireworks lover.
Now it was time to check in for ‘Ohana! I couldn’t waitttttttt!! We went upstairs and Joe and I went and checked in while Sam and Chris got us seats at the bar to wait. We got a buzzer and made ourselves comfy at the Tambu Lounge! I ordered a Lapu Lapu (of course), Chris got a Sam Adams, Joe got a Pina Colava and Sam got a Berry Mojito! Let me tell you, that Lapu Lapu was STRONG! I’m a bit of a wuss but still, I actually asked the bartender to put some extra pineapple juice in it! Needless to say, I was drunk after just one! Lol So, for that reason, I have NO pictures of dinner! I’m so mad at myself although I’m sure most of you have seen pictures from ‘Ohana.
We didn’t get called to our table until 8:50 but when we did, the food started coming in plentifully! Holy smokes, Chris and I have been to ‘Ohana several times before but the amount of food never ceases to amaze me. We dove into the pot stickers, salad, bread, wings and noodles! As we devoured them, the meat started to come! Unfortunately, our experience with servers at ‘Ohana has never been one to brag about and this time was no different. Our server was not friendly, mumbled when he spoke and it would take 3 or more times to get him to bring us more of whatever dish/meat we wanted. I’m not sure if they’re understaffed with waiters there or what but it always seems to be the same! After we were stuffed to the brim with food, they brought out the highlight of any ‘Ohana meal…the banana bread pudding!! Somehow, we managed to put it away lol How about our picky eating friends? They loved it! The only complaint Joe had (because we all knew there had to be one) was that he had to peel his own shrimp. I guess he’s too good for that or something?
By the end of the meal I was still drunk lol so we all decided to just head back to Pop and to bed! We grabbed a taxi outside of the Poly at 10:10, made it back to Pop and crashed! Another Disney day in the books.
Next up: A wonderful day at Epcot!!
Ugh I hate when people rain on your vacation. Joe sounds like a total tool. I hope you will get to have fun without them soon.

Hey! Just found your new TR and am joining in!
Must be so hard to plan a holiday with another couple who are not so much into Disney as you are. I can understand why you are so worried about them having fun but also Chris's point of view too. Some people just don't get it and there is not much you can do to fix that!
The trip so far sounds great. Your ride pics crack me up of Chris sleeping! I just look terrified in most of mine!
Can't wait to hear more.

Well, at least Joe only had one thing to complain about at Ohana. But really? You have to peel your own shrimp? Isn't that the definition of peel and eat shrimp? :confused3
I would have DIED at the CR comment. Not making any assumptions here, but that's like someone with Cadillac taste on a Pinto budget, right? Don't complain about how much money you're spending on a very reasonably priced hotel, but then walk into a swanky hotel and announce that it's more up your alley. Um, then don't complain about what you're spending! :rotfl2: Sorry, I'm ranting here, but what's wrong with POP? We're DVC members, and I've stayed at every resort on Disney property basically, and I LOVE POP! It has nothing to do with what's "your style", it's just people being a pain in the butt. :crazy2:
Okay, I'm done now. princess:

I am soooo mad!! I totally missed you guys, and we were all there at the same time!! We were on the beach and were seated at 9pm for dinner! We were right by the kitchen area so the servers had to pass us no matter where they were going, so we were always being offered food!

Lol oh man those lapu lapus...LOVE THEM!! I will forever treasure my memory of us there!! :goodvibes Except I can't believe they would dare make us peel our shrimp. HA! Seriously? He has to think it's his job to complain and look really hard for SOMETHING if that is all he could come up with. Goof.

We had terrible service at Ohana the one time we went, too! I don't understand it-- it's such a popular restaurant, you think they'd staff it with great, enthusiastic servers! :confused3
Awww glad Sam at least liked Wishes! If you like fireworks, how could you not?!

Thanks for joining in and welcome!!
I just wanted them to have a good time, love everything, and see why we're so obsessed with WDW. It was a high expectation to have and that's part of the reason I was let down!
Chris lovessss to do his sleeping pose haha he thinks he's so funny!

The problem was, Joe didn't read the menus or do any type of research so he had no idea it was peel and eat shrimp. Not that I'd care either way whether I knew in advance or not but he just had to complain about something.
We were definitely dying at the CR comment. I made sure he knew it was mega expensive to stay there but kept the whole issue of him complaining about the price of Pop to myself. NOTHING is wrong with Pop, we love it there!! Of course there are trips we like to stay in the more "upscale" resorts but Pop suits us just fine and we NEVER complain. It's a different atmosphere there and we love it just like most people do!! I'm not sure what Joe was expecting for $57 a night.

We were?! I was too drunk to notice anything haha I couldn't believe how that Lapu Lapu got me! We were over by the window, behind the kitchen so we weren't seated near one another but still, first we were on the beach together and then waited in the waiting area together and we still didn't meet up haha damn!!
Goof.
Awwww the picture of us 3 with our lapu lapus is one that I always love to look at!! Good times!!!
Oh he just needed something to complain about!!

I agree, it's one of the most popular on property, why the lame servers?! Crazy!
Wishes is amazing so I am happy she liked them!

you weren't the loud lady drunk at the bar were you??? LMAO
I'm glad you bumped your TR because I missed your last update. I am so glad your friends liked Ohana's. I am always so full on the wings, noodels and salad that I have trouble eating the meat and shrimp. But I'm back on track by the time the bread pudding comes. :thumbsup2
I love watching Wishes from the Poly beach. It's lovely!
$57 a night for Pop? Wow? :faint" That's awesome!
