Seems to be several questions about these excursions of late! Is Atlantis worth the extra $$$?

Also do either of these excursions include photos or video of the experience? :yay:

I'm not sure about Atlantis, but we had a great experience at Blue Lagoon.

There was a photo package displayed on a poster for a scrapbook album filled with 8x10s and 5x7s of your family in all different poses with the dolphin. I think it was $150 and needed to be paid upfront. I remember saying to my husband, "Who would pay that money before seeing the pictures?" As we were getting in the water, the photographer asked if we wanted the photo album. I said, "No. We'll be able to see the pictures afterward and decide what we want to buy then, right?" She answered that they only TAKE all the poses of the people who buy the package! If you don't buy the package, they'll take one pose of your family with the dolphin and one picture of each person getting a kiss, I think. So...we became those crazy people who spend $150 without seeing the pictures! LOL We figured if we were paying that much to do the swim, we should have a bunch of memories preserved! We got a couple different family pictures. We got pictures of each one of us hugging, dancing with, feeding, and being kissed by the dolphin. There were a couple miscellaneous shots, too, like the dolphin splashing my husband. We also added on the video because we wanted to have the foot push saved so we could watch it again.

ETA - In our group of 4 families, it seemed that my family and the one other that paid for the photo/video package got a bit more time with the dolphins. They had us do some things more than once so they could get some good shots.

Speaking of the footpush...If you have a DD, either have her wear a 1 piece or have her wear the wetsuit. The little girl in our group who wore a bikini had to hold her bottoms on during the footpush instead of keeping her arms to the side, so it was hard for her to balance. Our DD seemed to enjoy the experience much more since she was wearing the wetsuit. It was too big for her, so it didn't keep her warm, but it did keep her bathing suit on! :)

Not even close. But wishful thinking. I swear sometimes the photos and video cost more than the excursion.
Anyway, Most require you to purchase what is called an "observes" pass, so you can watch and photograph. Usually the pass cost less than the photos. So if you have a competent photographer it could be cost effective. However they are specialists as getting the best video that is difficult to decline. FWIW.

We did Blue lagoon last year with dd4... We had been to Atlantis may times so... I didn't have the need to see it... To big for me and my dd was not at the age where she would have really enjoyed the options there.. SHE LOVED the encounter at BL. Photos are not included BUT I will tell you the one we did buy of our family was fantastic... I wish I would have known our photographer was so good I would have asked for her to take more photos of us on the beach...Next time,

Great thanks y'all! It's just my DS (9) and I so there wouldn't be someone else to do observ pass. Neither of us have ever cruised or been to the Bahamas much less Atlantis! All I know is every time either the Atlantis commercial or the Disney cruise commercial comes on tv he stops in his tracks!! Lol! This whole trip is a surprise for him! I want this to be über special but my purse strings say different! Lol! He loves water parks which is why I was trying to make Atlantis happen, I don't see how I can do blue lagoon AND the water park....I may have to save Atlantis for a future trip...:confused3

Atlantis is expensive, and if you were just going to sightsee there I would suggest to give it a pass. I think Atlantis is over rated, but then I have never stayed there nor paid to get inside the 'special' parts.

When we walked through it didn't even cost to see the big aquarium in the lobby, so to pay to see that would be (to me) a waste of money.

Yea I wouldn't pay $309 just to walk around, the excursion I'm considering is the dolphin experience plus their water park.
