I couldn't decide if I should write a trip report or just post photos. I took so many! I'm not much of a writer but I figure I'll start up a trip report so I can have everything in one place. I took my good camera but half the time I was too lazy to bring it so I took a lot of cell phone pics. Please forgive the quality of those! Also, I didn't get as many food shots as I wanted to. Now that I'm back home, I wanna go back and take the pics again, lol. I'm kind of mad I got lazy.

We are a family of 5 and only live an hour and a half away from Disney. So I'm lucky to be able to go often. However, we decided to take a full week off and go visit which we've never done before. We stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43875101&postcount=4)in a 4 bedroom presidential which was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Also, we ate at TS restaurants for the first time ever. Usually I just bring snacks. It was wonderful finally getting to try these places. We got a Tables in Wonderland card and will definately be using it more.

I don't have pictures of every where we ate, but we decided on....

Sanaa (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43875456&postcount=5)
O'Hana (dinner)
Boma (dinner) (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43875600&postcount=6)
Chef Mickey's (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43878064&postcount=15) (breakfast)
Wishes Dessert Party (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43882261&postcount=20)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43892945&postcount=26)
Garden Grill (no pics)
Grand Floridian Tea (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43900304&postcount=34)
O'Hana (breakfast) (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43900160&postcount=33)
Hollywood and Vine (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43906634&postcount=43) (added on for breakfast)
and Sci-Fi Dinner (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43906918&postcount=47)

I have to say, I don't know how those of you on the dining plan do it. For the most part, we ate at one restaurant a day and we were fooded out!

We were also going to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. Usually we do very little for the kid's birthdays. I have twin 18 year olds born on New Years, so with 3 birthdays in January, we are usually broke. But we went completely over the top on all 3 birthdays this year. I created my own version of the Disney florist thing they do so I will have a ton of pics from that. (Picures start on post #8 down below) We also took him to the barber shop (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43878218&postcount=16)which was cool.

So anyway, pics to follow shortly since I have most uploaded already. We headed out from Melbourne, FL in our car on Friday the 20th. DH even put a Darth Vader voice on his GPS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX0OqulxV8A&feature=youtu.be) to surprise me. It still cracks me up!

Hi .. looking forward to your report !!

I grew up in Palm Bay. I live in MA now but really want to move back. I miss the beach SO much. One of the best beach areas I've ever had the pleasure to visit. The fact that I once lived there seems like a distant dream now. :sad2:

I envy you !! :goodvibes

We actually moved to Idaho for 8 years and then just moved back last March. I missed the beach too much as well! :)

We arrived at Wyndham Bonnet Creek at 10am. I didn't think they would let us check in that early and we were gonna spend the day at Downtown Disney. But luckily they did! We got a 4 bedroom presidential and it was a suprise birthday trip for my son. He was completely excited to see the place.

I'll post a few pics here, but most are in the Bonnet Creek photo thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=43874386&posted=1#post43874386)starting on post #98.

This is where we stayed...

After checking into Bonnet Creek, we headed over to AKL for our 2:00 ADR at Sanaa. I was super excited as this was our first TS restaurant.

We were greeted and told it would be about 5 minutes...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7493-1.jpg

We sat over by the window and watched the animals. I grabbed a shot of my daughter, and then they called us back.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/403306_10150528388223229_631828228_8994392_1526369 833_n.jpg

Our host kept talking about Ostriches which we thought was fate since that's my daughter's favorite animal. She spent the whole lunch looking for the Ostrich, lol. I took a pic of her and the host because of it. He was super nice.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/431157_10150528388773229_631828228_8994402_1992842 729_n.jpg

We had the app trio with the lamp kefta's which were delicous, the cauliflower which no one liked (and I love cauliflower), and the potato and pea samoas which were just ok. I probably wouldn't get an app next time.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7499.jpg

Mason (my youngest) got tomato soup which was very good.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7503.jpg

We ordered the bread service which was excellent. This is hands down the best naan bread I have ever had! I can't remember which sauces we got. They were recommended by the waitress and I hated them, lol. One was a wierd pickle garlic sauce. Nasty!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7502.jpg

Dh and I each ordered the slow, cooked in gravy meal. I got the basmati rice, green curry shrimp, and short ribs. It wasn't the best meal I ever had but I did enjoy it. It was nice and light.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7508.jpg

My daughter got the tandoori chicken and this was definately the star of the meal. It didn't look like a normal tandoori chicken, but it was delicous! Plus it had more naan bread under it. :) I plan to go back and get this for myself next time! I really recommend it.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7505.jpg

My older son, Sam, is not adventurous. In fact, he orders a burger everywhere we go....so no suprise that he ordered a burger here. And this is what they delivered!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7506.jpg
:lmao::rotfl2: Personally, I think it looks awesome. And BTW, he DID like it!

Mason got the kid's mac n cheese. He loved the macaroni but his green beans were cold so he didn't touch those.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7509.jpg

For dessert, they brought him a birthday ice cream which he loved!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/396366_10150528388688229_631828228_8994400_1959811 98_n.jpg

The boys weren't hungry but my daughter (Sara) and I split a dessert trio.
I'm not a chai person so did not like the chai cream but she adored it. I also don't like mango but I fell in love with that mango sorbet. It was wonderful! The dark chocolate cake thing was okay...kinda dry but still tasted good.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/421694_10150528388733229_631828228_8994401_1622967 640_n.jpg

After lunch we went back to the hotel and unpacked. We took a long walk around the place (which was HUGE) and then watched fireworks from the balcony.:lovestruc

The next 2 days were just spent at the parks, nothing too exciting happened but we all had a great time. We ate at O'Hanas for dinner.

O'Hana's was great. But not to the extent I usually read about on here. Don't get me wrong, the food was very good. I'm just not sure I'd go out of my way to go back unless I was staying there. It was also an insane amount of food. I wish I could go back and get just the meal or just the apps. We all felt like we had wasted too much food. I didn't get many pictures because I was lazy and only brought my cell phone.

Anyway, it's certainly worth doing at least once but I'm not sure if we'll go out of our way to go back. Also, only my daughter liked the bread pudding. None of us like bread pudding anyway so it was no surprise. Or maybe I just was too full. I think likely I had built my hopes up too much on these boards, lol.

The staff was awesome, AND we were seated right on time.

I did get a picture of my first ever "Glowtini". It was good, but very strong (I'm a light weight)
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0567.jpg

And Mason got the glow punch...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0568.jpg

Also, they gave Mason the most ginormous bowl of ice cream and THREE cupcakes!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/398138_10150512593283229_631828228_8947542_4049084 53_n-1.jpg

Here's a quick cell phone video of the little parade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV8CqBgWeEs&context=C3f298c2ADOEgsToPDskKZD0eC6RFTkTkmIlVm7Puq )they do. You can see the restaurant pretty good.

We finished at 8:00 right as the fireworks started. We couldn't see so we ran out on the beach and watched. It was pretty neat. The Polynesian is gorgeous! Video of fireworks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0s9RFZlIkE&context=C3580e49ADOEgsToPDskLmcD_XHq01odeea42Yao_D )

Surprisingly my while my DH thought O'Hanas was "okay", he loved Boma. I would have thought the other way around. Like an idiot, I didn't get pics. It was very good though...too good. I over-ate and felt sick after.

I did get a son of DH's birthday cupcake (I pretty much added a celebration to all ADRs)
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/402114_10150515627663229_631828228_8958563_1057813 99_n-1.jpg

I don't know that I would make Boma a must-do because of cost, but we certainly enjoyed it.

The 3rd day was my son's 6th birthday and a very big day! I went completely over the top, crazy and made a surprise to him from the "characters" like the Disney florist does. We also had his first character meal at CHef Mickey's scheduled (he has been asking to go there forever) as well as the dessert wishes party. I'll post pics from all that tomorrow as I have tons. :woohoo:

So after my son went to bed that night, we decorated the hotel. Like I said, I rarely spend much on the kid's birthdays. But this year my twins turned 18 and this was our first real family vacation so I went completely over the top. No judging! lol Maybe this will give some ideas to anyone wanting to do the same sort of thing.

We bought a disposable helium tank from Walmart for $20. The Mickey balloons I bought off Amazon and they were awesome.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7570-1.jpg

Mickey gave him a monorail set...

I got the bowls at Target over Christmas
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7561-1.jpg

Treats from Goofy's Candy Co. I kept all this in the fridge and wouldn't let him go near the fridge so he never saw any of it prior!

This was so yummy! caramel, chocolate, and white chocolate over an apple
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7549-1.jpg

The cake was from Boardwalk Bakery. Chocolate ganache over chocolate cake. Very moist and yummy!

We got the Edible Arrangement Mickey which was pricey but super cute. The fruit was delicous and we devoured it.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7544-1.jpg

I added on a number 6...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7545-1.jpg

Mickey pineapples!!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7548-1.jpg

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7532-1.jpg

Okay here is where my DH told me I had completely lost my mind. :lmao: I printed off a black shaped Tinkerbell, cut it out, and taped it in the lamp shade for her shadow. I sprinkled gold glitter for pixie dust. DH just shook is head at me and sighed but I think it looked awesome! What do men know anyway?

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7555-1.jpg

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7556-1.jpg
The only problem is I should have realised my son is 6 and not 3. He immediately looked inside the lamp shade and said. "Oh I see!" Oh well. I tried!

Donald left feathers...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7558-1.jpg

Pluto left a dog bowl ($1 from target and I took a sharpie to it)
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7559-1.jpg
I won't tell you what DH said at this point. At least he puts up with my fun! :rotfl:

My son really enjoyed everything of course. We didn't eat most of our snacks until we came back from the trip but everything was great. We are really liking all his toys. I wasn't too sure about spending that much on the monorail. DH told me to quit being cheap and just buy it, so I did. Now I am glad I did. It's pretty awesome!

He got some other odds and ends. Tinkerbell gave him a gift card, Stitch gave him a huge stuffed Stitch. Buzz Lightyear gave him PJs. I chose to use his favorite characters instead of the main 5.

Wearing his birthday shirt from Donald Duck...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0640.jpg

The shirt design I found here on the Dis. I modified it a bit and added Stitch since that is his favorite.

An another note, because I forgot to post it last night...

This is a welcome letter he found in his room. A design from the boards as well...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7518-1.jpg

Also, everyday that we went out, I snuck in the kids bedrooms (all 3) and left some form of a Disney treat with a cut out photo I had printed. The designs also came from the boards here. Each night was a different character like Goofy, Captain Jack Sparrow, etc. When we would come in for the night, the kids found these on their beds. They really enjoyed running in to see if someone new had left them a treat.

My twin 18 year olds really loved this too. As an after thought...I wish I would have done it for mommy and daddy too. :goodvibes It was kind of a pain leaving this without them seeing it, but it was fun.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_7517-1.jpg

I can't remember who designed all of this stuff. But a big thank you to whoever you are. Everything came out wonderful! (Anyone wanting to do this can search trough the design sections)

After everything was opened, we headed off to Chef Mickey's for a 10:30 ADR and our first character meal!

I'm following along too! I follow the Bonnet Creek thread so I'v been so excited to see all of your pics and read about your trip. Can't wait to hear about some more of your dinners - you went a few places we are considering as well. We'll probably still do O'hana, because it still sounds like fun, but I won't expect to be blown away - good to have normal expectations. :rotfl:

And can I say, you deserve the mom of the year award! :worship: Wow, wow, wow, everything you did in your room and for your kids was absolutely amazing! I know they must have enjoyed it so much. It definitely does give me some ideas about ways to add some magic into the vacation, but I'd never be to accomplish all of that. You are awesome! :cool1:

O'Hanas was definately good and I was not disappointed with it at all. I just think it gets blown out of proportion a bit. I really enjpyed walking around that resort. It's so beautiful! I am super jealous of those that can afford to stay there.

And thanks about the party. Like I said, I normally wouldn't do all that. But all 3 had birthdays this month, this was our first real vacation, and my twins are leaving for college this year. So everything is about to change. :sad1: I just wanted everything to be really great...and it was. :lovestruc

Okay so we got to Chef Mickey's and were seated quickly. I was a little nervous about eating here. I had heard so many bad reviews and heard later breakfasts are really dirty and messy and that the place is loud and obnoxious. But Mason had always wanted to eat here so we tried it.

First I was SO excited to finally be insude the contemporary. I have been riding the monorail through it since I was a little girl. So I was completely in awe!

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0651.jpg

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0645.jpg

Mason got a cute little placemat for his birthday and we got to keep it. :lovestruc

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0677.jpg

Yet again I forgot to take pics of the food and just used my cell phone. I did get a Mickey Waffle pic. Those are SOOOO freaking good! I've seen some thing on Amazon you can buy and make those at home and now I am wondering if it works. Those Mickey waffles were much better than a regular waffle!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0658-1.jpg

I really enjoyed Chef Mickeys! Everything was clean, the food was wonderful, the waitress was great. I also didn't think the place was too loud. We were in the back by a window and it was a late breakfast so maybe that's why. But it was much better than I expected.

The characters were all very cool. None of them spent very long at the tabe except Pluto who was very funny. But Mason is shy and never knows how to act around them so really, I guess there isn't much to make them stay. I need tips on how to intereact with non-speaking characters!

Next up was a trip to the barber to get Mason a color gel and pixie dust sprinkle for the day. I chose this because I knew he wouldn't wear a hat....

Bonniec
01-29-2012, 09:45 AM
So as we walked along to MK from the Contemporary, my daughter was complaining about her hair. So I thought I'd see if they could squeeze her in for a hair color too. They could...but then my older son and hubby started whining and I was all :confused3 since they are NOT the types to do something like that. So I had to ask the woman if they could get them in too, which she could but then she looked at me and asked if I was really going to be the only one NOT doing it. So yeah....all 5 of us got gelled and pixie dusted.

Let me tell you...if you want attention, this is the way to go about it! We felt like a walking parade the rest of the day. Everyone kept staring at us. CMs called us the glitter family. One CM asked us if a fairy sneezed on us. :lmao:

It's $7.50 not including tip to do this and if they have time, they will take walk ups. But I would make reservations if your heart is set on it. This is a great way to get your child attention!

First up was Mason. It hurt him when she combed in the green gel he picked. He has a tender head like me. I waiting for him to cry but he manned up and didn't make a peep. His facial expressions were priceless though!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0681.jpg

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0687-1.jpg

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0702.jpg

He got a Mickey on the back...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0686-1.jpg

Next was Sara. She and Sam had a big discussion over colors. Sam convinced her to do pink (she's not a pink girl), so she told Sam if she got pink, then HE had too....

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0694-1.jpg

This pic cracks me up...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0693.jpg

I got the same in purple. Everytime Sara and I went to the bathroom after this, women would ask us where we had our hair done. It was pretty cool!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0697.jpg

Somehow, she convinced Sam to do pink. She says she used her twin powers on him....
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0699-1.jpg

Manly!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0703.jpg

So as we cracked up at Sam getting pink hair, the barber asked if Sam wanted a picture on the back like dad and Mason had (dad got a blue Mickey). We ASSUMED it was a pink Mickey until I glanced over and saw this....

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0705-1.jpg

I don't think any of us have ever laughed so hard. We were all crying! Maybe this is why we got so much attention, I don't know. We spent the rest of the day calling him a pretty, pretty princess! He was mortified when "hot girls would look at him and laugh" :lmao: :rotfl2:

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0713.jpg

LMAO :rotfl:
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0710.jpg

My favorite pic of the whole week...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0712-1.jpg

The only downside of it all...okay, well 2 downsides. The stuff takes hours to dry. We had to wipe up several chairs after Mason bumped his head on it. Also, this stuff does NOT was out easily. It took several shampoos to get it all out. But still, I would totally do this again!

We also saw Push the talking garbage can (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZffP_Xb2bxo&context=C3d5ccbeADOEgsToPDskJyLMyOU1HMNNqlv7_dAoiT ), I grabbed a quick video.

That night, we had the Wishes Dessert Party....

Thanks for sharing, Bonnie! Love the prank the guy pulled on your son with the flowers in his hair! It was hilarious! I didn't even know you could do this.

I was debating Chef Mickey's cause of all the bad reviews, but I know my daughter would love it, so might go just for the characters. The Mickey waffles do look pretty good.

You did a fantastic job for the birthday celebrations... your kids must have loved it.

Looking forward to seeing/reading more.

We took a little break back at the hotel and I took a shot of Mason and his air walker balloon...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0717.jpg

Then we headed back to MK for the Dessert Wishes Party. Again, we really lucked out. I had heard that they seat the smaller tables up front. I knew being a party of 5 would likely mean we were in the back and would have to stand by the rail to watch the fireworks. But we lucked out and got a table right up front!

It was wonderful being able to watch the fireworks while sitting at a table with no one bumping into us. It really was a magical ending to a perfect day.

I didn't get many pics because I didn't want to be flashing everyone.

My daughter has a love for pineapple!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0724-1.jpg

Most of the desserts were pretty good. Nothing glorious or anything, but they certainly did the job. The tarts were kinda bleh. The fillings were nice but the crusts were dry. All of the mousse-like desserts were good. My favorites were the creme brulets and the chocolate covered strawberries.

Watching the fireworks...

Love your TR! We will also be staying at WBC in May and can't wait!

Question--how do you get the designs off the DIS? I love being "that mom" that does the fun stuff that makes my kids believe. :wizard: Your room with the decorations and treats was awesome!

Thanks you guys! I probably won't get time to most more until tomorrow. I was so sad at going back to work today. I know we only live an hour and a half a way but I just love being there so much so I was all sad. And guess what happened!......

My DH got a job offer today in Orlando!!:banana::cool1::banana::banana:

OMG I was afraid to get my hopes up about it. AND it's a lot more money. I am so freaking excited ya'll! We have to sit down and talk about it tonight. I am not sure how we will do this. We have 2 months left on our lease and I have one kid in kindergarten and 2 seniors so that sorta makes it tough. He may have to do some commuting, I'm not sure.

Either way, I get to move to Orlando soon!!!! I just wanted to pop on and share the news!

I'll post more TR soon.

As far as the designs....there is a design section on this board where you can find everything. I know Photopshop well so that makes it easy to customize things. You may need to ask the creator if they will customize. But there are a lot of things that don't need customization.

The next day we had more park time. DD and I went to DTD and had a Mergherita pizza (okay I have NO clue how to spell that lol)...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0593-1.jpg It was yummy. A very light pizza and made a good snack (we shared)

That evening we took a boat over to Whispering Canyon Cafe for some antics...

Wilderness Lodge is gorgeous! Okay well...so far all of them have been gorgeous.

I really loved Whispering Canyon Cafe. Again, my lazy butt took the cell phone for a camera. Right away they made the entire place do the Hokey Pokey. I of course was busy filming it which ticked off DH and the kids. They threatened to tattle on me to see if they would make me do it alone. :scared1: But then I threatened that moms always come up with the worst revenge so they left me alone. *whew*

Video of the fun (C3f298c2ADOEgsToPDskKZD0eC6RFTkTkmIlVm7Puq)

*spoiler alerts*
When you ask for ketchup in this place, the waiters scream out "Does anyone have ketchup?!!!" Then everyone gets up and brings you their ketchup bottles.

Our waiter was freaking hilarious! Sam dropped his fork. The waiters response was, "Too bad dude, use your hands." So we laughed and a few minutes later the waiter passed by and said, "I'm serious, you'll have to use your hands." :lmao: So he did....

Finally the waiter comes back with this HUGE knife and fork and asked Sam if he could manage to not drop that one....

Then he preceded to tell us some corney jokes. He threw salt on the giant knife and said it was "a salt with a deadly weapon" :rotfl:

We totally loved it all! The downside....the milkshakes have unlimited refills. DH and the kids were all over that. But then they gave us a LOT of food. The twins and DH were soooo sick after lol.

I enjoyed the view from the boatride on the way back (while the twins and DH were hanging over the back of the boat trying not too barf)

Speaking of feeling ill....during dinner my neck and back stated getting really achy as if something was coming on. I brushed it off and ignored it, I was at Disney after all!

Loving your tr. It is getting me so excited for our trip!

We will be staying WBC the end of this month. It will be our middle DS's birthday. He is a leap day baby, so it is his 1st REAL BDay. We have an ADR for Chef Mickey's that day for breakfast. How long did it take you to get from the resort to the Contemporary? Did you use the WBC transportation or your own car?

Thanks in advance!! You have given me great ideas to make the little guys day special.

Bonniec
01-31-2012, 05:16 PM
Most of the time we used WBC shuttles, but sometimes we drove if we were running late. And occasionally we took a taxi back.

From WBC to the MK it took about 15 minutes after being picked up. From there, you can walk to the Contemporary. That one isn't so bad.
(or Polynesian).
But going to some of the others can take longer.

For example, we were at MK and needed to go to the Grand Floridian for tea. There was no boat in site so we hopped on the resort monorail. The resort monorail took forever and frequently had to stop and wait for other monorails. We had to wait through contemporary, ticket center, and poly before hitting GF.

I don't know how people do dining plans at Disney. We spent a lot of time traveling to restaurants. I didn't mind because I've been to Disney a million times but never the resorts so it was cool to see. But I don't get how people on dining plans eat all those meals unless they are all in the parks.

The next day we were SUPPOSED to go to Hollywood Studios to try and get Mason in for the Jedi Training. He's a Star Wars fan and wanted to do this since we got our tickets last March. But since we live an hour and a half a way we are never there in the morning. DH got a call for a job interview in Orlando (the one he ended up getting :cool1:). So I decided to take the kids to Epcot and look closer at the countries.

As we walked into Epcot, I was approached by one of the survey takers. She was looking for Florida residents and I fit the bill. She offered me $125 gift card to do the survey which would take about 90 minutes. I honestly didn't want to do it but Sara and Sam's eyes about popped out of their heads, lol. I decided to do the survey and let the kids have the money to spend. So we split up and the twins took Mason off to enjoy Epcot.

The survey was very interesting though I have no idea why they wanted Florida residents. The topic would have been better for those coming out of state but whatever :confused3. It was conducted in the old building that used to have body wars (it has a yellow dome by the Universe of Energy). It was kinda cool walking through a desserted building. I felt like a prisoner :lmao:. They gave me a soda and cookies (and my gift card) and I was escorted to a room with a woman who asked me the questions. I sat in front of a computer with a camera on me and she informed me her "associates" were in another room watching me. I'm not allowed to share what the survey was about, but it was kinda fun. After, she excused herself to ask her associated of they had anymore questions for me. I felt like I was in a FBI movie! :happytv:

During the survery I started feeling achy again. After I left and met up with the kids, DH showed up from his interview....and I was feeling worse. Sara told me to go back to the hotel but we had reservations at Garden Grill in 3 hours and no way was I going to miss Chip and Dale!

Unfortunately I got worse and worse. I ended up having to leave DH and the kids and go back. I was feverish and honestly, had to run to a couple of companion rooms. I was so sick and extremely upset and missing the one character meal I had looked forward to the most.

Surprisingly, I felt better the next day. My stomach was better and my fever was gone. I was surprised because I was so miserable the day before. I felt pretty week but I was up for going out. And thank goodness because we had ADRs at O'Hana's for breakfast and a tea at the Grand Floridian....

Bonniec

I prefered O'Hana's breakfast over dinner. The food was super yummy and Mason and I love Stitch!

I thought it was kind of boring. Nothing at all like Kim Possible so I hope they add more. But Mason really liked it!

He tried to do the next round but it broke down in typical Disney fashion. DH took him on the pirates ride. I was off shopping with Sara. And the ride broke down with them on it. They sat there 45 minutes before finally getting walked off.

I told DH I was jealous because I wanted to walk off a boat and see the place with the lights on. He just looked at me like he was gonna slap me. :confused3

Finally we were off to the Grand Floridian for tea....

So we get to the Grand Floridian. Okay...this place is gorgeous, and ritzy! But it kind of looked like an old folks home in there.

Now tea was SUPPOSED to be something for just Sara and I. A mother/daughter day out. But Ian and Sam decided to invite themselves along. :headache: I seriously have no idea why. Neither drink tea so wth would they want to go?? But of course Sara and I weren't going to say no *sigh*

They didn't like anything! And they annoyed the crap out of Sara and I. We were like, "WHY did you come???!!!) ....men....

DH playing with the sugar cubes. He then started eating them raw.

Sara and I did out best to ignore the boys. We totally loved it! She had some kind of chai tea. I had the Eros which was a citrus vanilla tea. We both drank our entire pots!

FINALLY I took some food shots...the sandwiches were cucumber (my fav), curry chicken (decent), egg salad (good), shrimp salad (NASTY), and pear gorgonzola (yummy). The sandwiches were nice, but next time I will order a la carte and skip them.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/409313_10150528433203229_631828228_8994618_1062315 285_n.jpg

I will definately be taking her back WITHOUT the boys!!! Next time I will just order a la carte. Loves the tea, cheese plate, and strawberries. Will try the trifle next time too.

Everything else was just okay.

That night we hit up Downtown Disney again. I was sad because this was to be our last night.

Tea @ the GF looks fabulous!

I've made an ADR for my Daughter & her daughter (my Granddaughter) for the Disney Princess Tea. Yours looks just yummy & far less expensive.... May have to switch things around.

Decisions... Decisions.....

Thanks for your pics and reviews.:thumbsup2

BTW - I can just picture my DH & grown son deciding to come along to the tea - only to roll their eyes the whole time too! Will just have to whip them into shape if they even dare to try!:rotfl:

BTW - Trifle is my absolute favorite dessert!!! (Have only ever tasted my own recipe, tho.....)

Congrats on your DH's job offer! That is wonderful news. I couldn't even imagine living in Orlando, I'd want to spend every weekend at a theme park. :) Has he decided if he's going to take the job?

I'm loving all of the info about the restaraunts you went to. Did you like Chef Mickey's or O'hana better for breakfast? For character interactions and food. I'm probably going to end up needing to choose between these two. Chef Mickey's costs a bit more, but I'm pretty sure I want to do dinner at O'hana, so maybe we should try a different location. I don't know if we could do both, since my top priority is breakfast at Akershus. And also because seeing the dessert party at the fireworks in MK makes me want to try that too! Too many choices, lol.

It was Thurs the 26th. That's what they did for them too. According to Ian, he said the ride stopped because 2 people jumoed out of the boat to take pictures. So of course they stopped the ride and couldn't get it started again. Ask your in laws if they made that announcement.

Yep, he's taking it. We are heading over this weekend to look for places.

For character interaction, I think it's a toss up. Maybe it's just that we don't know how to interact with non speaking characters, but they always seemed to come and go super fast. Sara said Chip and Dale at Garden Gril spent the most time with them. O'Hana's had Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Goofy. Chef Mickey's had the Fab 5. So I would choose depending on your character preferences.

Akershus is likey better for characters. Everytime we've seen a princess they spend so much time with Mason. I think they pick up on his shyness so they talk to him a lot (which makes mom tear up). But he doesn't want to eat at a "girls" restaurant, lol.

The breakfasts were different. Chef Mickey's is a buffet with a bazillion choices. O'Hana's is family style so they bring it to you. Scrambled eggs, huge sausages (yumm), bacon, potatoes, cinnamon roll bread thingy, and pinapple bread (yumm(....oh, and Mickey waffles!! I fell in love with those.

I honestly like both breakfasts the same. If I had to choose, I'd likely say O'Hanas's because it's cheaper and I don't have to keep getting up to get it.

You'll notice the first part is him dancing on benches way in the back. Poor kid is so shy I had to slowly coax him to the stage. He had a fun time though. :goodvibes

This brings back memories of when I was younger

I swear one day I will ride this!!!

The next day we would be heading back after out ADR dinner at 50's PTC. We ended up eating elsewhere but I'll explain that next...

So we spent the night frantically packing everything up. Our plan was to check out super early and then head to DHS so Mason would FINALLY get to fight Darth Vader.

Ian and Mason had a little fight on our way out...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/408143_10150528393248229_631828228_8994455_8781570 53_n-2.jpg

BTW, Bonnet Creek's check out system kind of sucks. You are supposed to just call the front desk and drop off your keys in the drop box. I sat on hold for over 20 minutes. We were going to be late and I did not have time to go to tower 6 to check out. I finally got ticked, hung up the phone, and dropped the keys in the box and we just left. I guess they figured it out lol.

So we got to DHS and immeditaely ran to get Mason registered for the Jedi fight. The woman gave us a return time...more on this in a minute...

I sent Sam off to get Fast Passes for Toy Story. Instead of a rope drop, DHS was staggering people in early at 8:30. It was very nice and not too crowded this way. I hope they continue this method! We decided we were hungry for breakfast. We walked the whole friggin park just about and couldn't find anywhere that was open. So we stopped at Hollywood and Vine. They had openings so we figured we'd try it. I knew from the boards it was some form of character meal but that was it.

Now we don't really watch the Disney channel so we didn't know who these characters were. But if your kids like these characters, this is THEE place to go! It was a breakfast buffet very similar to Chef Mickeys. The food was good. But the place was DEAD. There were not many families in there at all. Some girl came out about every 15-20 minutes with the characters and they started dancing. By far, this would have been the best character meal we had eaten at...if we knew who they were :happytv:

For example, wth IS this thing? Some kind of Orzo bear or something? Sara and Sam said it looked like some sort of drug trip, lol. Mason ignored it. But all the other kittle kids were freaking out over this thing. The bear came to the table next to us and kept bumping into me, so I kept poking him in his green butt. This totally embarrassed Sara and Sam which I was happy to do! Mom's revenge...:woohoo:
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/394099_10150528408623229_631828228_8994535_1453443 179_n-2.jpg

Again, Sara had no idea who this was, lol.

Now Handy Manny we knew! AND, he came up and yanked Mason out of his chair and made him dance. I loved that he did this. Mason is so shy and this really brought him out of his shell. I practically cried over this.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/404567_10150528408843229_631828228_8994538_8561050 5_n-2.jpg

Then he grabbed Sara and Sam too which I also loved.

Next we headed to Toy Story Mania and the Green Army Men were out! These guys look so cool!
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/406983_10150526268403229_1788647452_n-2.jpg

Sara and Sam being their usual self, lol

We had time to kill so we did some things we've never done before. We saw the Little Mermaid and Mason sulked in the line about it being a "girl show". But he was totally entranced and loved it...we all did.

We also saw Indiana Jones which I thought was super cool. I can't believe I hadn't seen this show before.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/403587_10150528410463229_631828228_8994546_8108607 84_n.jpg

Then it was time to head over for the Jedi training...

The woman had given us a return time to come back for the Jedi training. Ian and I both heard her tell us the same time. But she told us the time of the show, NOT the return time. Ian did not bother to look at the piece of paper and stuffed it back into his pocket. This is where I turn into crazy-mom-with-a-spoiled-child mode.

We got there too late. Mason didn't yell or throw a temper tantrum, just welled up with huge alligator tears when they told him no. I felt horrible for him. He had waited all year for this, we weren't planning to renew our passes which were almost out and I knew this was likely it. Then I lost it started crying to and had to walk away to not look like some crazy mom.

Yes the woman told us the wrong time but it was Ian's fault for not checking the paper. I was ticked and trying so hard not to freak out. A manager CM came over. This poor guy was so nice and trying to make Mason happy. They could not get him into any shows. He offered to let him ride Star Tours immediately and give him a fast pass to Toy Story. We had already done these things so this didn't help me much but I knew they were doing all they can, PLUS this was really our own fault. They didn't have to do anything...this is why I love Disney. Mason seemed passified by it so I put on a brave face for him. I think I was more broken hearted than he was! lol

Dustin (the manager) took Mason by the hand and walked him right up and put him on the Star Tours ride, and then just gave Mason a light saber. How cool is that? It was really sweet of them to do this when ultimately this was our own fault.

Ian of course felt horrible and was ticked at himself for doing something so stupid. So after Star Tours, mom and dad guilt set in and we bought a buttload of Star Wars merchandise, lol. I bought him a Jedi Robe and Darth Maul mask (he likes the bad guys). And then Ian also bought him a double ended light saber. So now we have 3 freaking light sabers at home. :rolleyes1

We promised to bring Mason back once more and then as you know, Ian got the job over there. So we plan to renew our passes after all. I'll just make sure to hold onto that ticket next time or we're going to go broke out of guilt!

So for dinner, we were supposed to eat at 50's PTC. Ian and Sam took one look at the menu and wrinkled their nose.:headache::mad::headache::mad:
Seriously?! I had gone over and asked for opinions on our ADRs a million times. I had told them a million times what 50's PTC offered for food. So after yelling at them for tuning me out, we cancelled our ADR and decided to try Sci-Fi.

I was pretty ticked because I don't like cancelling an ADR at the last minute. Why don't boys listen?? If it were a busy season, I think I would have made them eat there anyway. I actually want to try 50's PTC so I think I will take Sara back at some point.

But the Sci-Fi dinner was AWESOME! I highly recommend this place. I worried the monsters on the screen would scare Mason, but it wasn't scary at all. I'd even take a 2 year old in there.

The shakes were just average. I probably wouldn't order one again or recommend them. I didn't finish mine but Ian and the kids liked them. I also got an old fashioned vanilla coke and that was very good. We all ordered the mushroom, bacon cheeseburger. These were huge and very good. It's not the best burger I've ever had but it was yummy and the place is just very cool.

Normally walk ins get a table but since it was slow, we lucked out and got a car. So if you eat here, be sure to get an ADR.

It's hard to take pictures because the place is very dark. I did take a video with my cell phone so you all could see the place and that actually came out pretty good. This is a pretty good representation of the light in the place (which is all indoors)

After this we sadly headed home. I snapped a pic of Mason in all of his "guilt gear" :rotfl:
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e60/BCreevy/Disney-Week/IMG_0926.jpg

I was so sad to be back at work and then the first day back I found out about the job offer. So now I am so psyched to be living there!

Anyway, thanks all for following along on my TR. We had such a blast!

Yeah. He really got over it pretty fast. We just felt so awful knowing it was our fault. Disney is so magical about things like this. It's not up to anyone else to make my kid happy but they do it, ya know? I'll be writing in to thank Dustin.

Plus, it's better this happened to us than someone living out of state. ;)

Oh no ... I'm so sorry that happened. ( I can totally see me doing something like this). But that must have been heartbreaking.

It was nice of the CM to try to make it up to him though.

It really was. I am embarrassed for crying about it, lol. Drama-queen mommy!

In the year we have had our passes, we've had many wonderful things happen from CMs. Once Mason freaked out in the POTC line, and as we left a CM "pirate" stopped us. He spent at least 15 minutes talking to Mason about how pirates are cool and not scary, then walked him up to the ride and put him right on it (Mason loves pirates now because of that). He also dropped a half eaten Mickey ice cream bar once. We were cleaning him up and calming him down, when a CM from out of no where just showed up and gave him a new one. Again, it was our fault for letting him walk around with it. And it was half eaten so I never would have dreamed to ask for a new one. But the CM refused any money, just gave it to him and left. Disney really rocks sometimes.

It was Thurs the 26th. That's what they did for them too. According to Ian, he said the ride stopped because 2 people jumoed out of the boat to take pictures. So of course they stopped the ride and couldn't get it started again. Ask your in laws if they made that announcement.

hmm, I think they were there that Monday! twice in one week with a 45 minute break down? not so cool!

Thanks for sharing your trip, Bonnie. I had fun reading it, and tagging along with you on your Disney adventure. Congrats to your husband... I can only imagine living there and being able to go any day I wanted to. My daughter would be in heaven so close to all those princesses.

You guys looked like you had an awesome trip. I wasn't aware of Whispering Canyon Cafe, so thanks to you, I now have another place to check out. I think it would be funny to ask my husband to grab our server for some ketchup. :rotfl2:

I felt for your son when he missed out on his Jedi training. I can only imagine how bad you felt... it was heartbreaking. At least you'll be able to make it up to him really quick when you move. And you did a great job of trying to make him feel better with all the gear.

BTW... your trick with Tinker Bell was really cute, and I think I might have to try something out for my daughter. Thanks again for sharing your trip.

[QUOTE=Bonniec;43906402]Thanks Grumpy! Your name makes me laugh lol

 He's not really Grumpy we just tease him because he's not as "in to Disney" as the kids and I would like.

Our last trip we stayed at the WBC in a four bedroom Presidential Suite. We were with my sister's family and they are a member. The next trip I will definitely try to stay there on my own. Awesome place! Looking at your pictures brings back such great memories.

So sorry Mason didn't get to do the Jedi training.:guilty: I so would have done what you did and buy him everything I could to make up for it.

Thank you for posting the Barber Shop pictures. I sort of forgot all about that. Just might have to give that a try.
