Mom's in ICU -Final update p5 - Mom passed away last night.

Just came back from the hospital where they moved my mom into ICU. She's 80. She started the day out vomiting, we brought her to ER, and some how she seems to be in Congestive Heart Failure. Her BP is down, and her lungs are 'getting wet'

My Dad died on July 4, almost the same way. He was being transferred to another hospital after a mild Heart Attack. That day, he was nausous. BP dropped, lungs started getting wet, and he died at 11 PM that night. I feel like I'm reliving that day less than 4 months ago.

In those 4 months, mom fractured her pelvis (actually, it was before Dad died, but she pushed herself through the pain for the funeral). Then they thought she had cancer. Finally, she spent 6 weeks in rehab. She was doing better in assisted living - and she sold her house this week.

I feel like I've been through so much in 4 months - I can't imagine how she feels. And I don't think she has much fight left.

First, thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. It really helps.

She made it through the night - her heart rate is a bit better, but her kidney's haven't started functioning again. Obviously, it's still very touch and go - and they need to get her stabalized so they can figure out what is going on.

Well, she's doing a bit worse. her BP is low, she has pneumonia which they can't seem to get under control, and her keidey's seem to have shut down.

Well, Mom passed away last night a little after 11, exactly 4 months to the minute that my father died.. My brother and I sat and held her hand while she slipped away. I know she wanted to go, to be with my Dad, and I understand. We told her it was OK.

I can't believe I've held both of my parent's hands as they died in the last 4 months.

Thanks for the prayers. It really means a lot. I'll probably be off the boards for a few days.
