August 2011 was a magical time in my life. I got to experience Disney with Victoria (from now on known as V). V is not my daughter, nor my niece, nor any possible relation blood or otherwise; but she is my family. I am her nanny. Nearly 4 years ago I took on a new position as a live out nanny to an 11 month old baby girl. In september we sent her off to kindergarten; we celebrated the end of 3.5 years of full time care by visiting Disney a few weeks before.
The cast is easy, only two people to worry about V and Me!

I’m Erin, 29 years old and I work as a full time Live out Nanny. I LOVE my job. Really what could be better than spending my days playing with an awesome kid! I am also a teacher, but teaching jobs are hard to come by. I live in Ontario Canada. I LOVE Scrapbooking and am totally addicted. I am also starting to get more into photography. I went to Disney World for the first time when I was 6 and I really don’t have any memories of it, so I considered Aug 2011 my first trip.
Victoria (V) is a feisty four year old, who is sensitive and outgoing and always on the move. She is a go go go kid and a total Angel (most of the time-she does have her moments). She is starting Kindergarten in the fall and is so excited. She isn’t as into Princesses as most little girls her age. Cinderella is her favourite, although she won’t watch any Princess movies. (She seems to like princesses more and more these days, but still no movies!)We can hardly get her to watch a movie at all. She thinks they are ALL scary. She LOVES Mickey and Minnie and Mickey Mouse Club House! She LOVES Dancing and while I thought she would be freaking out excited to go to Disney like any other kid I know; she wasn’t. I was kind of disappointed about that. It was her first time though and I don’t think she really knew what to expect.
Now some of you may be thinking WHAT! Your boss let you take her to Disney!!!! Let me explain a few things. I have the BEST bosses in the world. They are older in their mid-forties now and really aren’t into the type of parenting that Disney involves. They don’t like crowds, or waiting in lines etc... I kind of feel guilty sometimes that they don’t do this kind of stuff with V, but then I have to remind myself that it just isn’t their cup of tea. I do hope someday they take V to Disney, but until then are planning a Disney Cruise next year.
Maybe, 6 months before the trip, my boss mentioned that they were going to their house in Sarasota Florida in Aug and would like to bring me with them. After a while I started to wonder about Disney, would they let me take her? When it was confirmed that I was officially going to Florida with them I finally asked if I could take her. I was planning to pay for it all myself as it is something I wanted to do. I said it was too expensive to stay overnight so maybe I would just drive us up (from Sarasota) to Disney for two days and we would do magic Kingdom. I was a little surprised but not really when they said yes! Then it evolved into overnight. As I started planning I realized that it was really better to just go for a few nights. And once free dining came out we were at four nights and five days. Then my boss said of course WE are paying for it not YOU! I did not mind paying for it at all, but was happy not too! So they paid the booking fees and I said I would pay for souvenirs and anything else... I planned and planned and researched and asked so many questions on DIS. I felt pretty prepared to go so make the most of our time, and know exactly which rides to do or skip.
On Aug 25 we travelled from Toronto to Tampa and then drove to Sarasota. It was pretty uneventful flight; although, it was my FIRST time flying on a plane. I was a little nervous but everything went well. And I had no one better to fly with than my bosses; my DB (Dad Boss) flies for RIM at least twice a month or sometimes more. Last month he was in 4 different US Cities in a week! I forget if it was the ascent or the descent, I don't know, my fear with flying has always been my ears, i have bad ears. one of them was just BRUTAL! The flight home was fine too, but we hit a fair bit of turbulance, and apparently DB was trying very hard not to laugh as I was very white knuckled and V is the one reassurin me that everything was fine, we just hit an air pocket. :confused3 Anyways, back to the trip there. We hung around the house swimming and going out for dinners and doing a bit of shopping for the first few days and they were endless I was going crazy waiting for Sunday the 28th when we would go for breakfast and then head on to Disney. FINALLY Sunday was here. We were staying for 4 nights and 5 days. Arriving Mid-day on the Sunday and leaving early afternoon on Thursday.)
Up Next: Day 1 at Disney. Check In & Epcot!

DAY 1 POP Check In and Epcot
August 28, 2011
After breakfast (I have never eaten so fast in my life) we started the drive from Sarasota to Disney. According to MapQuest it should have been nearly 2 hours, BUT we were there in maybe an hour and 20 min! My Boss is a bit of a crazy driver. I’d never driven with him before but I soon learned to hold the door handle. When we first began to see the signs for Disney, V was definitely excited and so was I. If my bosses hadn’t been in the car I’m pretty sure we both would have been screaming. I was just so excited to share this experience with V.

We followed the signs to POP Century Resort and pulled into the luggage unloading area. I assumed my bosses were going to park the car and come in with us, till we were registered and make sure everything was good. I was wrong. They literally dropped us off right there. Bell services took our bags and the bosses gave hugs to V and that was it. Off they went! I was a little shocked. It was now just before noon. We walked into POP and just gazed around for a minute. WOW, this is Disney! I looked at the Check In line and thought WOW so glad we checked in online first!!! The Check In line had at least 20-30 different families. The Online Check In line had a mere 5 in front of us. We got checked in and our room was ready! Yay! Went back to Bell Services and a lovely young man took us to our rooms. Once there, I got V and myself organized loaded the stroller and off we went to line up at the bus to Epcot at 12:30. (That timing does not seem right, but according to the pictures it is!) While in line we met a lovely young lady and her 6 year old from Texas. They were doing Disney Solo as well so we took pictures of each other! (Now yes I realize V does look a little large for the stroller, but at Disney, she needs one and she is only four. (I am worried about our upcoming trip mind you - I hope she will fit, I need that stroller to and from the resort/bus at POR. )
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/006c.jpg
We arrived at Epcot so excited to start our day at 1 pm. Now Epcot was more of a last minute adjustment, I convinced the bosses to let us come earlier in the day so we could visit Epcot do a few super quick things and then be on our way back to the hotel and in bed on time because we had an early morning the next morning. I figured any time at Epcot was better than no time at all! I had detailed schedules written out for all the parks with an order of events, and which countries to see and which to skip. We couldn’t see them all but thanks to Touring Plans and Dis! I felt pretty prepared that we could accomplish the most. Crowd levels were also really low.
As soon as we walked in we saw PhotoPass and did a picture in front of the big ball. This has become my most favourite picture EVER! My heart melts a little bit whenever I see it.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/010.jpg
Next we saw Daisy Duck!!! And of course lined up for an autograph and picture. Then Stitch was there so we visited him. V has no idea who Stitch is and she wasn’t overly impressed.

After staring puzzled at the Epcot map for a min, I gave up and just asked the nearest CM how to get to Soarin. (Clearly I am NOT a map person) Thus became the start of rarely looking at maps and just asking for directions, yes I’m bad. We grabbed Fast passes for Soarin’ and then headed for The Seas with Nemo and Turtle Talk with Crush! V got chosen to ask Crush a question, she asked if he had ever been on a boat Ha ha ha ha ha. “Nope he says, I gotta swim in the ocean, but-uh I swam under a boat! “ She was pretty thrilled with that and I shook my head laughing inwardly at her question. We spent a few minutes looking at the fish and such and then we moved on.
We found The Character Spot and headed in to wait in line. Man, that line moved slow! V was literally jumping up and down to see Mickey! This was her first time meeting the big cheese! She was in heaven meeting Mickey Mouse. Next up was Pluto who unfortunately I called Goofy and accidently got perm marker on his costume, (so sorry Pluto). Minnie was the real treat; V was pretty much just in total awe. Donald and Goofy were next!

Next we headed over to Test Track, now I knew if we didn’t go then, odds are we wouldn’t go. The stand by line said 40 min and so we got in. The line definitely wasn’t 40 min, probably about 20 min. Awesome!!!! V LOVED Test Track! She was giggling while the older girl single rider sitting with us was a teeny bit freaked. (Of course I am curious as to whether her eyes were closed for the entire trip – or not?)

Sorry, I think you're confusing me with another Stinkerbell's mom...so funny though, someone just asked me the same question very recently on another thread (unless that was you, I forget). Apparently, my husband & I aren't the only ones who call our daughter "Stinkerbell". :rotfl:
Now that I've been asked twice, I'm really interested to hear about the other Stinkerbell's Mary Poppins costume

AWWWWW..what a great start to your TR!!
and even though V doesnt have parents that are comfortable spending time with her at WDW, she is SOOOOOOO lucky to have you in her life to share those experiences with!!
So, here's a non-TR question..what happens to your position when V starts K in the fall? Do your hours get "cut", or do you just take on a different roll within the family??
they are sooooo lucky to have found you and you're lucky to have such a great V!!

Yes her parents aren't really crowds people. The are looking at doing the disney cruise next Christmas.
Well she started school JK in sept, which is basically kindergarten (we have 2 years of kindly here) I had booked a new position to start in October. With a 9 month old boy? The family wanted me but couldn't afford me so the deal is that my salary is lower for them, but in exchange I still have V after school. So I work 830 to 5 with the boy and we pick v up at school at 330. It seemed like the perfect fit. They wherein agreement with outings and such. Unfortunately this really just isnT the job for me. The parents okayd certain things that are not happening, such as free dom to come and go on outings as we please and now we have a schedule. We aren't allowed to do p,any dates at friends houses, only public places and just the ways in which they parent are total opposite to me. Such as i believe that kids should learn to self soothe with support to be able to go to sleep on their own. They said in the interview that they would do slep training around 6 months and he is now 13 months and i have to hold him and bounce him to sleep and he doesnt sleep well at all. There isnT anything wrong with what they are doing, it is their child and there choice, just not quite what i signed up for. The family are alovely people and I r rally like then, just isnt the job for me. Without freedom and trust, I am not a happy nanny and unfortunately that doesnT appear to be changing.
I am a teacher and I recently applied to the local school board for the fourth year in a row and this year I got an interview. I was suppose to hear in 3 or 4 weeks and it has since been 8. I believe my paperwork is in limbo somewhere so I'm still stuck waiting. I called the board last we'd to inquire and I am still waiting to hear back. So if I get on the school board after a month or so I will be giving my notice to the baby's family and I will start some supply work. I will still keep v after school. If I don't get on the list I will be giving my notice the end of April to be done with the baby in June. It was supposed to be a share all summer but it just is not going to work.
Well that was a long winded explanation!

Chapter 2: Whirlwind through Epcot
After stopping for a Mickey Bar, I ate mine and after a few bites V did not want hers, it was melting too fast, and was too sticky. Seriously What kid doesn't want a Mickey bar!!! Everyone raves about how good they are and how much their kids love them. I was so excited to for her to have her first Mickey Bar, and was so disapointed that she didn't want it!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/067.jpg
we cleaned up and checked the times guide. We were right at the boat launch and took the boat across to Germany where we met Snow White. This was V’s first experience meeting a princess. She knew who Snow White was, but that was it. She was pretty stoked to get her autograph!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/070.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/072.jpg
We rushed over and got in the line up for Mulan. Mulan was a must see since she isn’t at any of the other parks. V had NO idea who Mulan was, but I think she was pretty impressed and just in awe of her costume, the way she spoke and they complete undivided attention she gave her. This Mulan was just amazing! By the time we met Mulan, it was already 6:15!!! So much for my plan of leaving by 7!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/031.jpg
Next we headed over to Japan and did Pick a Pearl. There was only a 3 people in front of us, but it was a pretty long wait that process is long! V thought it was pretty cool. I tried to get her to pick a setting, but she wanted no part of picking a setting. V picked a very nice 6 ¾ mm white pearl. Mine was larger 7 ¾ mm pearl. I decided not to get a setting there either and would look online for something. (I still haven’t done that - add to To Do List, scratch that, start a new list and add find old To Do List) V wasn't overly and impressed with Pick a Pearl :( I think she was just too young! After Pick a Pearl we did a little shopping and V picked out a stuffed Hello Kitty! I felt utterly horrible tho, she had just gotten a hello kitty purse before we left and I told her to pick out a wallet for her purse! So she picks a super cute sequined one. And then I looked at the price tag $40 freaking dollars. Uhhhh Sorry kid! She got the stuffy instead. Her favourite souvenir I think. Not that she had much to choose from we hardly did any shopping.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/078.jpg
We stopped for some Photo Pass Pics, and then headed for Soarin’ Soarin’ was awesome. V really liked it and so did I. It was a long wait even with the fast passes. Wow!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/085.jpg
We got totally lost on the way out; I have told you I SUCK at maps, yes even WDW maps. I don’t even know how we got where we did, but luckily someone helped us out. I believe (although she was in street clothes) that she was a CM and from the makeup I suspect one of the princesses! After getting pointed in the right direction we stopped at the big ball (or whatever it is called) and I snagged this cool shot with my point and shoot
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/087.jpg
and did some quick Photo Pass Pics before we were on our way to the buses.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/090.jpg
We didn’t have to wait long and after a quick stop in the food court at POP for a bite of dinner, we were back in our room and V was in bed at 9. This picture was taken shortly after. Notice her new Hello Kitty beside her and her poor Gerry the Giraff tossed to the side. (Poor Gerry was back in his rightful place the next night!)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/093.jpg
A pretty cool day! I wish we had longer to spend at Epcot, we really did no exploring what so ever (a common theme for this trip :( but to be improved on the next one) We needed our rest; we had an early day tomorrow. But do you think I could sleep??? No of course not!!! It was well after 12 I think by the time I finally fell asleep. My feet were aching. I had bought new crocs at the outlet prior to getting to Disney and I know… don’t buy new shoes, but come on they are crocs! Well I got the size too small and then my feet swelled. Needless to say after a few hours in those shoes, I had blisters all over my feet. (And this I learned later in the week was the start of a very BAD thing).
Coming up next... Our first day at Magic Kingdom.

I am so very lucky. My contract was for the first year, we assumed I would be on the school board for the next year, that didn't happen so I confirmed another year, at the end of my second year, I said no matter what happened with the school board I was staying until V was in school full time. My MB actually asked if I was interested in homeschooling V for her Junior Kindergarten (and possibly senior kindergarten year) but I said no. Because she is an only child, I thought getting her into a school environment was better. I actually regret that decision a little now, but V is thriving in school. My MB always says, my not getting on the school board sucked for me after all my schooling but was their blessing because they weren't ready to give me up. I am so incredibly lucky to have them, they really feel like family and I hope no matter how old V gets that that will never change!

Recap: We were at Epcot for our first day.
Becoming A Princess
August 29, 2011
The next morning brought us an early wake up! V was pretty easy to wake that morning, tho she was definitely tired! After a quick shower for her and hair combed, we were off. We had a very important appointment at 8:15 with V’s Fairy Godmother. We didn’t have too long to wait for the bus to MK. There was only 2 people on the bus with us. We went straight in to Magic Kingdom and headed for the castle.
I got a picture of V with the castle and an empty park. Not a very good picture mind you, I have definitely learned from photopass shots where to take a picture!!! It was also done with my small point and shoot and not the good camera.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/001-1.jpg
We checked in and were ready to go in just a second. They took us to the changeroom where V was THRILLED to see a Cinderella dress!!!
I wasn’t sure how this would go. I was sure V would be fine, she is very patient and rarely complains by nature (to others) but she has curly hair and was going through an every tug is murder phase at this point. She didn’t seem to be too sure at first but quickly settled in and not a peep out of her as her FGIT April did her hair. I got some pictures and videos as she did.

After some near sneak peaks, some make up and nail poish V was ready for some magic wishes... She didn’t get much glitter, much to my dismay. And then they turned the chair around!

I don’t have video of it :confused3 I had thought that I was recording and I wasn’t. She was pretty quiet, unlike some of the other kids there when they had their reveal, but that’s V for you!
After a quick picture with her FGIT, we were off!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/070-1.jpg
She still maintains her favourite part was being Cinderella. It is one of my favourite parts of our trip too. V is not a major princess fan. She won’t watch the movies, but at the BBB she was like any other girl and thrilled with all the attention and it was just so darn Magical!!!
Coming up next... Meeting our Fairy Godmother and breakfast with the princesses.

Chapter 4 Meeting Cinderella's Fairy Godmother
After bidding our FGIT farewell, we headed over to Castle Couture to visit the photo Studio. The park wasn’t open yet and it was so barren. I loved it! The photographer was just starting to get V into position for the photos, when in swooped Cinderella’s very own Fairy Godmother. She came up beside V and gave her a hug and I’m not quite sure what V was thinking. I’m sure you’ll agree from the progression of photos that initially she was somewhat terrified of this lady in the big blue cape, but after a few moments she was fine and we got some lovely photographs. We did not however get her autograph, I wasn’t really thinking about that at the time.

Oh I am lucky to have her!! Thanks for the good wishes on the school board. What board is your friend on. Not sure if I posted this yet, but I found out officially that my paperwork was lost. So.... while everyone else had been notified and done orientations a month ago, I just found out that they don`t have my paperwork. You would think they would have a checklist of applicants and think hmmmmm we never got anything back about this girl..... but no. So I now wait and wait some more while they redo my paperwork and recheck references. :headache:

This is an uber long update, I just didn’t know where to break it off. I also started a PTR for our Surprise trip in July. Chapter 5: Dining with Royalty
After doing our photo pass pictures at Castle Couture, We headed back inside the castle to dine with royalty. First stop was meeting Cinderella. V was completely over the moon to meet her. It was the sweetest thing ever, she was so excited! (I think having her Cinderella costume on helped a bit )
I adore the photo of her and Cinderella.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/110.jpg
We walked up the stairs and were seated right next to the window. I believe we looked out over Castle Couture. We just got settled with our drinks and fruit and orders taken, when out came the princesses!!
I was so happy they came out before our food came. I brought a bib for V, as I did not want any accidental spills on her costume, but I was not looking forward to taking it on an off to meet each princess.
Our first was Snow White, I just adore this picture.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/116.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/118.jpg
Next up was Princess Aurora, Ariel then Belle.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/142.jpg
Finally we could eat. I didn’t take any pictures of our food, and it was ok. It was cold by the time we ate, but that was our fault. I remember the danishes being kinda dry, the fruit was good, eggs were okay, and bacon was not so good. The homefries were not my style and V ate my sausage. I think that was it; wasn’t a great breakfast. V didn’t eat a whole lot either.

Shortly after we settled the tab we headed out to begin enjoying our first day of Magic Kingdom. Since V was in her princess costume, we headed straight for the Town Square Theatre for the meet n greet to meet the princesses. Sure we just met them but... why not! The princesses didn’t really spend much time with V, signed her autograph book talked for a second and did a picture and she was on her way. Belle gave her a twirl which she liked.

So much fun to meet them!!! We stopped in the gift shop on our way out and bought MINNIE MOUSE EARS!!!! V wanted the pink princess hat, but I feel bad I said no. I want her first pair of mouse ears to be more traditional . We both got Minnie ears and I had our names embroidered on the back!! We spent a lot of time in the gift shop talking to a fantastic CM who was doing the College Program. I wish I got her name, but she was just wonderful.
After that we headed out and caught the end of the show. V loved the music and dancing and was grooving right along with them!

As soon as we looked to the right, we saw her and V gave a little squeal!! Earlier that summer, I had introduced V to Mary Poppins. Well, rather I rented the movie and told her parents to convince her to watch it (remember V doesn’t like movies). We didn't get a chance to watch it and it needed to go back to the video store so as much as I wanted to be the one to watch it with her I told her mom to. Well she loved it and by loved it I mean LOVED it. To this day she still goes around singing spoonful of sugar. Mary was wonderful with her, chattering the whole time about paulie as she signed her book and asking her questions. V seems to clam up and not say much during her character interactions. She was just in amazement that is Mary. I really wish I would have recorded this meeting with my camera, I got some pictures but.... next time.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/219.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/221.jpg
After meeting Mary, we walked back down Main Street and the Dream along with Mickey show was just starting on the forecourt stage so we stopped. Awesome show!! V wasn’t too sure of the witch from Sleeping Beauty(her name escapes me) as you can see from the wary expression on her face.

After the show we headed to meet Tiana. There was hardly a line up for her at all and we saw her within a few minutes. Tiana was absolutely wonderful! I think she was my favourite character interaction. She was just so lovely with V, asking her questions and patiently waiting for V to open up a bit. So sweet!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/409.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/412.jpg
The skies were starting to look a little ominous so we headed over to see Rapunzel. But first stopping for a picture in front of the castle.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/413.jpg
We got in the line up for Rapunzel and oh my gosh it was long. Now if this was a level 2 crowd line for Rapunzel, I am terrified when we visit MK in July!
In front of us in line was a couple and their daughter from Scotland. Can I just say how much I LOVE Scottish accents! Poor people tho, they were just exhausted, The arrived the day before I think and the jet lag was insane. We talked for a while passing the time and the girls played a little bit. Then we got the warning that if it started to rain Rapunzel would be taken inside. Eeek it was dark out! The line slowly moved and the skies got darker and darker and thunder. Ahhhhh they opened the line and let the allotted number of people through into the waiting area. We were the last ones in!!!! OMG I was ready to hug the CM. Some more thunder and they got the call, There was three more girls to see Rapunzel and then they had to take her inside the storm was coming fast. We were the LAST ones to see Rapunzel. Talk about some pixie dust here!
Can I just say how much I loved this photo pass photographer. They took pictures while V was waiting.
Ahhh I love it
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/420.jpg
She looks so sweet
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/422.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/423.jpg
I was a little disappointed that Flynn Rider wasn’t there. I guess they stopped bringing him out for Meet n Greets the day before, I think.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/426.jpg
With that storm coming I knew we had to find some shelter. And we hadn’t eaten yet so we headed up Main Street in search of Caseys! We got hot dogs fries and a drink. The CM asked what we wanted for dessert and I said nothing since I didn’t want any and V wouldn’t eat the choices. But then she said we could have cotton candy. Are you kidding me??? 2 huge bags of cotton candy as a desert credit? Score one for us!! Caseys was packed it was starting to POUR!!!! Can I just say it is extremely hard to manouver with a tray of food, a 4 year old and a stroller . There was absolutely no where to sit. So I sucked it up and put V’s spare dress on over top of her Cinderella costume and her bib and we sat on the floor behind the bleachers. We got some weird looks, but seriously what else could I do. It was so good to just sit and give my aching feet a rest. We were only on day two, but remember those blisters I mentioned, gosh they hurt! I was wearing socks and shoes today so much better, but man did they hurt.
By the time we were done lunch, the rain had let up and we walked out to a freshly steamed Main Street. We did some photo pass pics in front of the castle. I just love the Tink picture! And then headed to the front to find a good spot for the 3pm Parade.

V loved playing with the misting fan I bought her.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/442.jpg
And then the parade was spectacular! I really wish V gave more emotion when watching. I know she was tired tho, but she did enjoy it especially when Cinderella came. The Cinderella photo was taken just before Cinderella was right in front of us. She pointed at V, waved and blew her a kiss! V was totally stoked!!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/543.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/545.jpg
After the parade we headed out of the park and back to POP for a much needed rest. At least I hoped!
Next Time: V meets a new friend on the bus and gets her picture on the castle!!
I started a PTR for our upcoming trip in July (OMG Crowds) and I am having some planning issues, so I’d love some opinions and feedback if you all are so inclined!

Now, I've got to head on over to your PTR!! I'm glad you get to take her back in July! (We're "thinking" about going bak in June..... )
Also, I'm not sure if you're saving this part until the end of your TR, but what did V's parents think about the trip? Did V tell them all about it? Did they love all your pictures? .................

Hmmm honestly, not a lot of feedback from her parents :( but I don't think they were too upset about missing it since we are going back!!!! They were happy she had fun and we talked to them while at Disney.
I thought they would be all excited to hear about what we did and favourite parts and such and I really got no feedback at all. Loads of pictures on facebook too and maybe a comment or two.... I was worried they regretted their decision to let us go; but we are going back. I was really disapointed by the lack of feedback. It made me sad because I was so excited to share with them everything we had done, and i did a bit, but they didn't really ask many questions. I don't know what they asked V outside of my presence. I missed dinner the night before we flew home, just V and her parents went so I imagine they asked her about it.
I did for christmas give them the Disney CD's including all pictures and videos (well except the ones I was in I didn't want them to see :rolleyes1 ) and photopass pics. They went to sarasota for xmas and took the CD's with them... I don't think they looked at them. They left them in sarasota for V's grandparents to look at and bring back when they drive back in the spring.
V also wasn't telling them everything we did and her favourites etc... it did take some prompting from me. She wasn't excited and talking non stop about Disney like most other kids I know would have.
Overall I was kinda sad and disapointed that they weren't more excited.... but again I don't know what went on when I wasn't there and for pretty much the full 24 hours prior to our flights home I was out of comission.

So happy to have found this TR :)
I am a 29 year old nanny myself, I have been with my current family for just shy of 4 years and look after 2 lovely girls aged 4.5 and 2.5
I would LOVE to take the girls to Disney and have even joked I would pay for them to join me on a trip to Disneyland Paris, but I don't think it's going to happen ;-)
My bosses are planning on taking them to Paris at some point but wanted to wait until the girls were 8 and 10, which I said was too old and that they should take them when the girls still believe in the magic.
Especially considering how easy it is to get to Disneyland Paris from London(just a couple of hours on the train)
Can't wait to read more about this trip and also hear about all the pre trip excitement for your July trip :)

Rienchen!!! So nice to have you on board!!!!
I LOVE my job.... (well sort of, not my current one with V in school full time and having a boy, but changes coming to that soon!!!.....) I can't wait until summer when i have V full time again.....
Honestly my bosses are insane. I don't think I would let my nanny take my kid to Disney.... Well thats because I'd want to take her :rotfl2: But really I don't know if I would let my nanny take my kid overnight for that length of time.... Hard to say until you are in that position. If she asked I'd definitely consider it. As long as it wasn't something that was particularly important to me. Now I'd definitely take the nanny with me if she wanted to go. Sure to help out a bit, but also for her to have some fun.
I agree 4.5 and 2.5 is the way to go!!! I'd do it now and again in another year two years if not before. So many people say I wouldn't take my child till they are old enough to remember, but honestly Even if they do remember They won't see it as "Special". Not like you seeing the amazement of kids who are at that age to believe in magic. It's just different when they are older.
When Cinderella blew V a kiss you would have thought she'd died and gone to heaven She was ballistic! And the Minnie Mouse Surprise.... (oh haven't told that one yet...that's on day 3!) fantastic.
I belong to an awesome nanny group, It's an online email group called World Wide Nannies, (mostly US, but some Canada, Australia and Europe too!) if something like that interests you let me know and I'll PM you the info.

Hi there!
What a lovely TR. I can tell that you have put so much thought and planning into this trip (and we are only on day 2!) so that it is extra special for V.
You seem like such a wonderful nanny :worship: and I hope that your teaching job comes through for you. V's family is so lucky to have you! When DH and I are ready to have kids, will you be my nanny? :yay:
I am also in Ontario and know of others that graduated over the past few years who are having difficulty with teaching employment, so you are not the only one.
Looking forward to more updates!

Chapter 6: Time for a nap..... Ya right!
We headed back to POP as fast as my aching feet could carry us. V does not normally nap and she puts up a fuss if I ever suggest it, but I prepped and told her that she was laying down to nap. We got back to POP and she would not settle down. UGH! She needed that nap. An early morning and I had a late night planned. She would not nap. So I popped her on the Bed and turned on the TV to just rest...... Ok really? After 5 minutes of flicking channels I came to the realization that there was nothing appropriate on the TV for a 4 year old. Seriously? This is Disney World!!!! No Disney Junior! No Disney movies.... nothing but sports and news and..... The Disney channel with shows aimed at preteens. I think that is my one complaint about Disney World. So after watching her spin circles in the room, (hmmmm after effects of cotton candy possibly?) I said alright, lets go back to Magic Kingdom! We must have eaten some dinner first.
On the way there, V made a new friend! I can’t remember their names, but we talked with a lovely family who had a little boy and girl. Their boy was probably about 5 and their girl about 2. The girls were shy to start, but by the end of that bus ride, they were kissing each other goodbye!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/570.jpg
Once we got to Magic Kingdom, we headed straight for the fairies. The wait was LONG! V had finally just watched the first Tink movie before we got there and set she liked it. (She hasn’t watched it since!) We saw Tink and Vidia and both were great with V, but you could tell it had been a long day!

After that we walked out to see that everyone was getting ready to see the parade. The Hub was already filling up. We grabbed some spots. It was like being packed in with sardines. I managed to leave V in the stroller where we were sitting and tip toe through all the people, literally like 10 feet only to the road and bought V one of light up spinning Tinkerbells (I could see V the whole time no worries!) When I started going back, I could see that someone had pushed my backpack that was holding my spot beside V to the side a bit and was sitting in my spot. Uhhhh really???? When I asked them to move so I could sit where I had been sitting with my 4 year old, they were pretty disgruntled. Uhh RUDE!
I snapped some pics of the pretty castle all lit up and then some of V!

Our excitement for the night; well mine, as V I don’t think saw, was during Magic Memories and You. She got her picture on the castle!! It was in the lower left area and was a photo pass pic taken at BBB of V and The Fairy Godmother! I was pretty excited. The pictures do go fast and we weren’t right close so there is a margin of error, but I’m about 99% sure it was her! I wish I was recording the show. The show was amazing, I can’t believe they knew how to do all that. Utterly breathtaking and a little bit teary on my part! I LOVE the surprise videos and was surprised myself to see more than one clip from a video I had seen on You Tube in the months before.

I was pretty worried for these fireworks. V has always been sensitive to sound. The summer she was 3 I took her to fireworks when we were camping and the end result..... not so good. She cried and cried and If I had been smart I would have bought those headphones for her to block out the sound. I was not. She did okay. I don’t think she was thrilled about watching them, which was hard for me. I LOVE fireworks. I got some okay shots of the fireworks, not fabulous, but nice ones to remember!.

And then it was over. I packed our bag up and we got in the swarm heading down Main Street... or did we...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/740.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/741.jpg
Nah; I told V to close her eyes and go to sleep and we wormed our way over to The Emporium for a little shopping. V was asleep in minutes and I was up for a little shopping. I didn’t really see anything I wanted, I was trying to be really restrictive about buying but I knew V would just love the Minnie Mouse Dress and it would be perfect for our dinner the next night, so I bought her the Minnie Dress, sequined ears, Minnie Hair bows and Minnie flip flops. They were all so darn cute! V was fast asleep and a surprise plan began formulating in my mind. Eventually closer to 11 I paid and we walked down a pretty empty Main Street to the buses. One of the CM’s stopped me and gave me some Mickey stickers and commented how Cinderella had turned into Sleeping Beauty. The line for POP busses was LONG! We were past the end. I was in no hurry to wake V up. There were a lot of buses coming and the line did move pretty fast. But still there was no way we were getting on any time soon. We were getting closer to the front when I realized that V was not wearing her brand new Croc Flip Flops. I checked the bag and they were not in there. I checked the stroller. No shoes in sight. She must have kicked them off at The Emporium or Main St. Or somewhere while she was sleeping and I didn’t notice them. Well Crap – we couldn’t go back now and look for them.
There was no way we were getting on the bus that was loading or the next one so I didn’t wake V yet. That bus left and the next one pulled up. Then out of nowhere another bus pulls up beside the one loading and starts loading and that line moved so freaking fast. I didn’t have a chance to wake V up. I called her name and shook her shoulder telling her to wake up, but we were at the bus doors and I had no choice but to pick her up out of the stroller and just put her on the bus while I folded the stroller. Dazed and confused with the bright lights, the poor kid wandered down the bus (without shoes) while I got on. She headed to the back, but a lady near the back doors stopped her from going to the upper level. I called V over but she kind of just looked at the lady and crawled on her lap and pretty much just went back to sleep. The people around us were getting a good laugh. There wasn’t much I could do; I was standing holding a stroller and a pole because there weren’t any seats and there was no way I could hold her too. I called her over to stand with me, but the lady said she was fine. (I think she was really enjoying herself since her kids were much older-in their late teens). After the bus started moving, the driver told everyone to behave themselves as there was a princess on board! I managed to stow the stroller in a spot so it was out of the way and then a boy around 13 or 14 maybe asked if I wanted to sit down so I got V and sat. The man beside me was nice too and lifted V’s feet so they were on his lap and she was more comfortable. She was miserable however, she wanted to go back to sleep and couldn’t. She kept kicking the man too as she was trying to get comfortable and he asked where glass slippers were..... uh she lost them somewhere I answered. Uh oh, he says. I hope our bus doesn’t turn into a Pumpkin! (so cute!)
We were finally back at POP and some women helped out by taking my bag and the stroller off the bus while I carried V. They were in front of me in line at MK and said if they’d realized I was alone they would have offered help then too. Ah well. We headed straight back to our room and V was in bed in 5 minutes and then asleep right away. I prepped for the next day and pretty much collapsed into bed.
What a day!

What a great start to your TR! Can't wait to read more!
Thanks for reading.
Awesome update! V looks adorable in her costume and all made up!
The CRT Cindy pic is sweet! V looked like she enjoyed the M&Gs.
I love that parade! Nice shots!:thumbsup2
Love the Mickey & Minnie photos! That is one place we've yet to visit.
The Rapunzel M&G was cute, it's too abd they took Flynn out. Kadence did get to meet & dance him in Jan and she was just over the moon!
How awesome for Kadence! V couldn't have cared less if he was there or not I don't think, but she hasn't met any princes so.... it would have been nice. Next trip we are visiting Park Fare!
You trip report is so much fun to read. V is absolutely adorable! Can't wait to read more!
Thanks so much, she is just the sweetest thing. Love her to bits.
Erin, I don't think I ever told you how much I loved V's BBB makeover, what a cutie. I can't believe there wasn't more excitement about the Disney pics...but I am SO happy V has you to make these memories with! I wish I could afford to send my brood with you, the excitement would be non-stop!
She loved the makeover. It was definitely her favourite part of Disney!
Awww thanks! Where abouts in ONT are you? Teaching has come through so I hope that i can get enough hours or LTO's to be financially independent and move out and just breath a sigh of relief, but that will be quite some time coming. I love nannying more than anything and i am paid well, but at the end of the day, not enough to live on my own and buy a house.
What a wonderful TR. I have subscribed! :cool1:
Welcome aboard!
Just getting caught up...can't wait to read more! :thumbsup2
Hope you enjoyed the last update.

I hope you will all forgive me for such a delay in posting! It has been a crazy few weeks around here. So much has been going on with My Scrapbook Fundraiser for MS, Weekend retreat, teaching, trying to get organized, planning our july trip, making costumes, and now V's 5th birthday. Yes her 5th birthday....
Head on over to my July PTR (the link is in my signature) to see the birthday cake I made. Now onto important things
Recap: V and I hit up the Magic Kingdom, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, from dawn till dusk!
Day 3: Animal Kingdom
It was NOT easy to wake V this morning. It was really hard, she was so tuckered out. I knew we would be having a bit of an earlier night so I was hopeful she would last the day. She got up and had a quick shower to wash all the BBB out. I was disappointed she didn’t want to keep the hair done up as I’d read that some girls keep theirs looking great for days, but oh well. She grabbed some cheerios to eat on the bus for breakfast, refilled the mug and headed to the bus for Animal Kingdom.
We got to AK before rope drop and only had to wait maybe 15 min for the show to start! We were near the front so it might have been longer. We were towards the left so we didn’t have a great view of the show but a few nice people moved aside a bit so V could see. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/youngstarsowner/004-1.jpg
We followed the rope heading to...... if you guessed Africa you are right! We headed straight for Kilimanjoros Safari. After being nearly run over by a runaway stroller.... yes a runaway stroller. I went to the stroller parking and pushed down the hill and I think V was still in the stroller so I walked down. I might have left her at the top of the small hill, but I’m pretty sure the CM was telling me to let the stroller go, but no I walked it down, it was a fully loaded stroller! I gave him the stroller and walked up the hill nearly getting hit by a runaway umbrella stroller that someone launched from the top of the hill like literally just walked by the top of the hill let it go and continued on not worrying to see if there was anyone to catch it. We joined the running of the bulls through the que. People actually passed us in line and V was hustling! We walked right on to the ride and enjoyed a lovely trek through Africa.

Aside from when our driver kept telling the people sitting behind us to tell their kid to sit down. Seriously, hold your child if you need to, good grief. We caught the poachers! And enjoyed all the amazing animals!

Recap: We loved Kilimanjaros Safaris!
We headed to Asia to grab Fast Passes and ride Expedition Everest, but NO FP, actually EE wasn’t even running! No idea why, so we headed to Kali River Rapids and grabbed some fast passes for later. We started walking back to the Jungle Trek but Expedition Everest was open, so we rode that instead. V liked it, but when I asked her to ride again she didn’t want to I enjoyed the ride! I am a coaster junkie! I had heard about the scary part, but V didn’t seem bothered by it.
No real pictures for this part so kind of boring.
We were supposed to do the Majarah Jungle Trek next, but It was hot and I noticed it was about 10 and nearing the 10:30 showing of Nemo so we headed over to Dinoland and into the nice cool air. Refreshing. We didn’t have too long of a wait, but V entertained us all by dancing at her seat! She insisted on wearing her Cinderella glass slippers that day so I think that had something to do with it!

Now, what to do next????
We ventured further into Dinoland and saw the line for TriceraTop Spin wasn’t too long. Or so I thought. Basically it is Dumbo with one loading area! So slow, but we made it on and of course loved it, how can you not like it!
