Just for the sake of security reasons and the metal detectors ours will go in the checked luggage until we get there. Barb had a post on this a while back! My daughter got very alarmed last time we flew and the metal detectors went off when she walked threw. She had a hat full of Disney pins! Its hard enough going threw security checks right now, I want to make it easier.

We're going to check them this time, just bc they are heavy and a pain in the fanny to carry. We carried them on in May - DD just took them off and put them in the bucket to go thru the Xray.

I have never had to check them, but I am prepared just in case. I bring a rolling luggage bacg that is small enough to use as a carry on, and inside it is my backpack and my pin case. That way, if they want tme to check the pins, I would just remove the backpack with my other carryon items in it and then check the pins in the luggage bag. I find it easier to remove the pin bag and put it through the metal detector separately...otherwise the whole luggage bag tends to get searched.
The first time we did this, when the National Guard was still at the airports, the guardsman at O'Hare was fascinated that Disney actually make special pin bags and people have huge collections of their pins (the bag was being searched).
