Let the Memories Begin-A Mother/Son Adventure of a Lifetime!
Hello and :welcome: to my family's 7th Trip to Walt Disney World in the last 5 years! This would be a trip of a different kind than others as DH would be staying home and it would be just DS and I.
My husband and I recently purchased DVC at BLT and we spent 10 glorious days this summer at the World. We had another 8 days planned for Thanksgiving but DH decided to get his EMT certification and did not have enough time to take off and go to class. So, he graciously encouraged DS and I to go alone so .........what would any good wife do but totally agree!!!! DH got sick right before we left and was needing his gall bladder removed but the trip was still on when the surgeon left town about the same time as DS and I. Would DH be fine at home or would he get worse and we would have to come home early?
Well, let's get this trip started and find out!!!
First, let me introduce you to the cast.
I am Erika, a 35 year old, accountant/finance manager in the utility industry. I volunteer for PTO and with DS cub scout pack. I had a lap band surgery a year ago so Disney is so much fun and easier for me. I have more energy and can really go the extra mile now with DS. I love to walk, read, and zumba. I am a true lover of all things Disney. My favorite park is Magic Kingdom and character is Daisy. My favorite restaurant would be Chefs De France and favorite ride is Soarin.
DS is Jeremy, thus the user name jeremysdisneymom. He is 9 and is in that still child/tween stage. In the summer, the tween reared its ugly head a lot on vacation but that wasn't so much on this trip. He is an honor roll student, in the gifted program, is a Cub Scout and is in 4-H. He loves Disney as much as I do. He wants to be an Imagineer when he grows up and talks constantly about the next Disney Park he plans on designing. His favorite park is Epcot and restaurant is San Angel Inn and Chefs De France. He is not an adventurous child and still will not get on Tower of Terror or Space Mountain. I am not sure who his favorite character is. I think he has a liking for each one in their own way.
Here is Jeremy and I on his first trip to Disney. I can still remember that moment like it was yesterday. I was so overwhelmed with joy to be at the MK with him that I couldn't stop crying. It was that moment that started my love for Disney that has finally spread to my DH and DS.

And this is Jeremy and I this summer.

Jeremy and I got up early this morning to tell Tom goodbye as he headed off to work. We each got a shower and was soon ready to leave. Jeremy did indulge me this trip and let me take lots of pictures of him.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0342.jpg
Right before we left, Jeremy looked at me with the biggest smile and said, "Mom, I can't believe I am going to be puked out of a clowns mouth this trip." He was so happy and that will give you a guess as to where we stayed. But, oh how that statement was also a bad omen for the trip as well. More on that to come later!!!

We were soon on the road. Even though we live in southern Ohio, I like to fly out of Lexington, KY when the prices are right. It is a smaller airport and so much easier to navigate in/out. We stopped in Lexington at a family favorite, Cracker Barrel, and enjoyed breakfast together.
We parked in the Economy lot at Bluegrass airport. I think I chose the spot furthest away from the terminal as it was a long walk.

Lugagge in hand and ready to go!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0345.jpg
A plane was flying in on our trek to the terminal.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0347.jpg
I had already done check in with Air Tran online and paid the extra to choose our seats. I had one bag to check in. While in line I had a nice conversation with a family who was heading to Disney. They had just booked their vacation two weeks ago and had no clue what to do. It was nice being able to help them out and explain Magical Express to them. I hope they had a good time and was not so overwhelmed as I was in those early years before I knew aobut the dis!:)
It wasn't long before the plane we were boarding arrived at the gate.

Up Next:
Will the plane be diverted?
Will Jeremy ask to go swimming?
Who or what almost ruins the evening?

Oh, the creepy clown! I want to stay there someday but really, he does creep me out. Wouldn't keep me from the slide (or pool!) though, that's for darn sure, everything else there is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

Jill very much wants to stay at Boardwalk. She thinks it would be nice to walk outside in the evening and be in the midst of the fun atmosphere. It was sure pretty at Christmas with all the decorations.
I am glad you got to take the mother-son trip. Jeremy was plenty old enough to remember it, and I just know he will always have fond memories of the fun you had.
All of the gall bladder issues are solved now, aren't they? Is Tom feeling all better?
I am going to get that Jeremy on Tower of Terror! ;)

:welcome: So glad you are here! I loved staying at the Boardwalk. I will say the room looked a little worn but you can't beat the location. I  your secret entrance! I think the clown would look better if he had eyes and not stars for eyes. But, it sure is one of the best slides on property!
Hopping on-board for this one!

Jill really needs to stay there and so do you! It is beautiful and so nice being close to Epcot. I will tell you the lobby took my breath away when we walked in. It was so beautiful for Christmas.
Tom is doing better. He takes his EMT certification test Friday. Say a prayer for him. He is really stressing and has suddenly started breaking out in hives. :scared1:
I hope you have better luck than we do getting him on Tower of Terror! Tom is really encouraging him for the spring break trip. I am hoping he braves up and will do it. You will be surprised at what we do the last day of our trip considering he won't get on Tower of Terror.....stay tuned!
What trips do you have planned this year? We will not be going during summer so I know we will not get to see you then.

I told Jill how beautiful Boardwalk was at Christmas. I went over there one day when she went back to the room to nap with the girls, so she missed it, but she has often said she wants to stay there. We've visited several times, and we got all the way into a room when Marc and Anita were staying there once. We'll make that stay happen in time.
I'm sure Tom will do well on his test. :thumbsup2
The drop on ToT is for such a short time. I can handle that way better that I can handle Everest, which seemed to be endless! I was ready to get off of that bad boy!
Only two trips for us this year - a nice long summer one and a week in October during my fall break. We will make do with some Disney-themed activities at home, though, and maybe a few mini-trips. I feel sure this will still be a very exciting year for our family. I think there will be a spring break trip next year, too, so hopefully three trips in 2013.

Fall Break sounds lovely! It has been several years since we were there in the fall. We are going over Easter weekend. I know it will be crowded but I am looking forward to the Flower and Garden Festival. I have never been. We will be back Thanksgiving week with a possible 3 day cruise. However, I think 2013 will be no Disney World. :scared1: I know that sounds crazy but if we like the cruise I think we might do a 7 day one and then a Thanksgiving trip to Disneyland. I am trying to save DVC points to possibly do 2 weeks the summer of 2014. Jeremy will be getting ready for junior high and Tom I would like to surprise him with a possible stay at the Poly for part of those 2 weeks if the money will allow it. Who knows!! I tend to change vacation plans very often!!! :rolleyes1

November 18, 2012--We are on our Way!
The plane we were boarding pulled into the gate. I started looking around and noticed a lot of people with carry ons that looked a lot bigger than what was allowed. I sort of wondered where it was all going to fit. Most of these people must have been seasoned Lexigton Air Tran travelers because before long they announced that due to a full flight you could check luggage for free at the gate! I can't believe I paid $20 to check a bag and these people were getting it for free. This is only a Lexington, KY thing as it didn't happen on our return flight from Orlando and it was rather funny watching this one family with their five bags trying to find places for them! :rotfl2:
We boarded the plane rather smoothly and were on our way!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0350.jpg
Jeremy took a little nap and I read some on my book. The stewardess had just started serving our row refreshments when this man passes out in the aisle. He was coming back from the bathroom and just fell face down. His wife was a nurse and she couldn't get him to wake up. They called for a doctor and luckily one was on our flight. He worked with him for a long while and finally the man came too. He had gotten overheated and passed out. Luckily, he was okay and we wouldn't have to make a medical emergency landing.
We made good time to Orlando and before long Jeremy and I were waiting for the faux monorail as we call it.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0352.jpg
Jeremy was still a little sleepy but he was soo excited to be riding this monorail as the last two trips we drove. Of course he had to get the upfront view!

I didn't tag our luggage for Magical Express as I wanted to make sure we had it in plenty of time since we were going to the Christmas party that night. We got to baggage claim, picked it up, and was soon at Magical Express. There was no one in our line and they quickly had us on a bus that was getting ready to leave!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0361.jpg
We were the only ones going to the Boardwalk and it was the first stop!!!
I had never been in the Boardwalk resort before and it literally took my breath away! The Christmas decorations were beautiful and I loved the atmosphere and feeling of the place. I have no pictures from those first moments but they will come later in the trip! Jeremy and I were just toooo excited.
A nice gentleman met us at the door and asked if we were checking in. I told him I was and gave him our name and that we had done online check in. A lady went and quickly got our packet and in a matter of minutes we were on our way. Our room was a short distance from the elevators! :thumbsup2

The villa was considered a preferred view. Jeremy was super excited with the view.

I loved seeing the Tower of Terror in the distance.

A mother/son trip is so much fun and full of memories. Jeremy is 9. He doesn't turn 10 until later this year. He is big for his age. My husband is super tall. You will have so much fun together! :)
Fun update. Well, except for the man who passed out and hit the deck in the plane. That seriously does not sound good. How do you get overheated sitting in a plane? Hopefully he got checked out at an ER when he arrived.
Love your view from the studio. Denny and I are staying in a studio at BWV for a few nights this summer and I can't wait to try it. It's last on my list of the east coast DVC resorts.

Friday, November 18, 2011-continued
After checking out our gorgeous view and unpacking, an important decision was to be made---What to do next!?! I had already warned Jeremy that there would be time for swimming later so not to ask as the MVMCP was that night and I wanted to be rested for that. I debated whether or not we should get a nap but honestly, the Florida sunshine and sounds from the pool were calling our name so I threw my plan out the window and to the pool we went!
Jeremy loved this light fixture by the elevator with the hidden Mickey on it.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0374.jpg
I originally just watched Jeremy as I really didn't want to get my hair wet.

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0376.jpg
But, he was having so much fun so I got in with him for a while so there aren't too many pool pictures this day. The slide at the Boardwalk is one of the best on property in my opinion! We had lots of fun.
On the way back to the room, we picked up a sandwich at the pool bar to share since breakfast had been hours ago in Kentucky and we were starting to get hungry. Jeremy and I split the sandwich and this would be the beginning of a big mistake for me this trip! I ate the bread with no regard that my lap band had been tightened weeks before and this was the first time to eat bread since. Bread and lap bands often times don't mix well especially when they are as tight as my band was. I was immediately sick. This went on for almost an hour which put us getting to the MK a lot later than I wanted. There was one point I wasn't sure I would even be able to go but finally started feeling better. We got dressed and hit the shops at the Boardwalk in search of Jeremy a new Disney Christmas shirt to wear.

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0380.jpg
We had no luck so we headed to the bus stop in hopes that we could find something he liked in the Mk.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0385.jpg
Jeremy and I were both soo excited to be back at the MK and to finally get to enjoy a party without the rain. He even let me take some window pictures of him!

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0387.jpg
The fairy godmother was getting ready to light the castle so we hurried up and watched that before we went shopping.

And a shot after we found a sweatshirt and Jeremy wanted Mickey Gingerbread Ears! You will see these ears a lot. He actually wanted to wear them which was fine by me! All of his other ears are on the closet shelf.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0408.jpg
I asked him if he wanted to wait in line to see the Seven Dwarfs or what he wanted to do. He quickly replied that he didn't care to see the characters but wanted to ride so we headed to Fantasyland.
First up was those dreaded tea cups.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0411.jpg
Then on to It's a Small World.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0414.jpg
The party had officially started when we were headed to Frontierland. Jeremy saw the cookie and hot chocolate station.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0415.jpg
I took one little bite of the cookie, but no more. I didn't want to get sick again.
Up next:
Would I dare eat the cookie and get sick again?
I never want to see the bathroom by Casey's ever again!
Do you want to guess what Jeremy chooses to do next?

What a nice mom! I know Jeremy was a happy boy, and I totally agree about the Florida sunshine and pools atmosphere - sometimes you just have to drop everything and enjoy soaking that in.

Jeremy saw the cookie and hot chocolate station.
A new Christmas shirt, new Christmas ears (I like them!), and cookies and hot chocolate in Magic Kingdom - very fun and festive! :santa:
Too bad about the getting sick part. I'm glad it wasn't a virus or anything that went on for days. That could have sure messed up a trip!

Sounds like a great start to the trip! I love that Jeremy was so excited to be “puked out a clowns mouth!” DS9 is hoping to stay at BWV for his 10th birthday trip this fall! That slide has his name written all over it!
UGH! Poor Tom and the gallbladder! I may have mentioned this on your other TR but I had mine removed when DS9 was a just weeks old! It was AWFUL!!
OMG! You get all the excitement on your trips! Kids almost drowning, people passing out on planes! Yikes!!!
Isn’t Boardwalk lovely?! It’s just so pretty!! Great view too!! Woo hoo!!
Your afternoon by the pool sounds so nice and relaxing!
Ugh! I’m sorry you had such a hard time with the sandwich! That doesn’t sound fun at all! But, I’m glad you got better!!!
Oh!!! How I love that castle lights!!!!! So beautiful!
I must admit, DH and I enjoyed the cookies and hot chocolate at both our trips to MVMCP a lot!! So yummy!!

Ericka - thanks so much for letting me know you had started a new trip report!!
Your studio looks fabulous - and I am so going to have to stay at the Boardwalk. My girls love slides - but I wonder what they'll think of the scary clown? ;)
I can't believe how many times we've been there at the same time - and I am so glad that we managed to finally meet this trip!

Sorry you got sick, I know another DISer that had major issues with it on a trip, I can't even imagine how difficult the whole thing would be.
It is not fun but so worth it in the end. I do get better in a day or two....
Glad you made it to the party but so sorry you got sick.
:scared1: About the Casey's bathroom. I wonder if Jeremy changed his mind about the dwarves. :confused3
No, it wasn't the dwarves but another character. That child never ceases to amaze me.

What a nice mom! I know Jeremy was a happy boy, and I totally agree about the Florida sunshine and pools atmosphere - sometimes you just have to drop everything and enjoy soaking that in.

Jeremy wore those ears everywhere we went at Christmas! They were a big hit with him.
I would love some of that Florida sunshine today. It is pretty gloomy here in Ohio.

The afternoon at the pool was a perfect way to start the trip.
I just love MVMCP. It really gets you in the spirit. I am going to have try two in one trip sometime in the future. That would be perfect.

November 18, continued
After Jeremy enjoyed his cookies and cocoa, he saw a group of characters he had never seen before and he was off to get in line. :lovestruc I love those few moments when the child comes back and see in him the love for Disney that was there the first trip we ever took. Too often, those things aren't "cool" at home and he wouldn't dare tell his friends he saw characters at Disney. I guess that is why I truly love this place!
So, did you guess who he wanted to see?
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0417.jpg
None other than Cinderella and her family! We have seen Cinderella before but not the others so even I was excited for him.
The step sisters were having quite a lot of fun with him. They thought the gingerbread ears could be eaten. They were smelling them here. The entire time Jeremy is giggling away.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0418.jpg
There was conversation being had here. Not sure what was being said but I know it wasn't any jokes!!! :rotfl2:
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0419.jpg
I was tempted to put this on my Christmas card but Jeremy would have killed me.

This will be the only character picture the entire trip. :confused3 The next trip, I am going to bite the bullet and get in line by myself!
After meeting one princess, it was time to ride another princess's ride, Snow White.

I am not good at taking pictures in rides but I tried to get a shot of the queue line or something every time we rode so I could remember for my trip report and to share with Tom when we got home.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0425.jpg
We headed to Frontierland to see the Tomorrowland Christmas show.

The show was cute however I wish it was in a bigger area. We could really see well until 5 minutes after the show started. People were rude and stand in front of you--a lot with children on their shoulder. Jeremy found a good place further up where he could see so I stayed back and kept an eye on him.

After the show, Jeremy wanted to ride Astro Orbiter. :scared1: Geez, this is not a favorite of mine and had it been daylight, I would have let him ride on his own. But, with it being night and I wanted to make sure he was strapped in, I decided to go on it with him.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0440.jpg
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0442.jpg
It was getting close to parade time so we decided to head toward the hub and see if there was any spots left in Frontierland.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0443.jpg
The hub was pure madness so we decided to head towards Frontierland through Adventureland. Oh my, Adventureland was deserted. However, Frontierland was just as bad as Main Street. The parade was starting so we decided to skip it at this point and ride some Magic Carpets.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0445.jpg
There was no one riding the carpets. The ride operator literally would stop the ride for anyone who wanted to get off and then start it right back up. Jeremy loved it and I think we rode it 4-5 times.
Jeremy and I were getting hungry so we thought it would be a good time to eat since so many people were watching the parades so off to Casey's we go. Jeremy found us a great table near the rail so we could see the fireworks later and I went and got me a hot dog and him some corn dog nuggets. This is when I learned another valuable lesson.
First, I knew better than to eat the bread after what had happened earlier so I didn't touch the bun. However, I learned that hot dogs no longer mix with my lap band, even when they are chewed VERY well. :confused3 So, right as the parade had ended and everyone is heading to Casey's restroom, I get sick. Really sick....to the point I can't even talk. And there is a line to the women's restroom a mile long. :scared1: Jeremy knew what was going on and I was able to make him understand to stay there and not leave under no instance. A VERY, VERY NICE cast member was close by and she could tell something was wrong with me when I started toward the restroom. I couldn't talk but she was able to understand that I needed in the bathroom now so she got me to the front in a hurry. She even waited on me and asked me once I was better if she could get me some water or anything.
I went back to the table and the Magic, Memories, and You show had began. I couldn't get very good pictures and halfway through, I was sick again. So, off to Casey's I go but luckily there was no line this time. It took one more trip after that and finally the sickness was gone.
I know this was long and probably too much information. However, if you ever have a lap band, please be aware that these things can happen at the worst possible time. However, Disney has some of the best cast members and are truly there to help you whenever you need it.
As for me, I avoided Casey's restroom the rest of the trip! ;)
Jeremy and I enjoyed the fireworks from our table.

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0468.jpg
After the fireworks, a lot of people were starting to leave the party. We went in search of party merchandise but honestly didn't find anything we wanted.
It was starting to snow on Main Street. See Jeremy pointing up at the snow!!!

A little Disney Planning Update!
I seem to find less and less time to get on the Dis as I would like lately. Work has been really crazy with year end and the auditors were in for a whole week.
Jeremy turns 10 the end of this month and we are having a Pirates of the Caribbean roller skating party. I am still trying to get everything organized for that. Plus, his cub scout blue/gold banquet is coming up this month as well along with a Father/Daughter PTO Dance I am helping plan.
To say I am exhausted is an understatement. However, I did find time to plan our vacations this year. We are heading back to Disney in April to celebrate Easter and Spring Break for 5 nights at the Boardwalk. This has been planned for several months but we decided to pay out of pocket and add 3 more nights at a moderate. I am leaning to Port Orleans but we haven't booked it yet. We may let Jeremy decide in the end. Let me know your thoughts! I am also waiting for the dessert party to open as I want to book that for this trip. And, I am going to book a Behind the Steam Trains tour! Jeremy loves trains so this is a surprise birthday gift for him. He will finally be old enough to go on this so I know he will be super excited.
In May, we are taking a long weekend and heading to a time share we own in Pigeon Forge, TN. We haven't been in years and it is a surprise end of the school year trip for Jeremy.
We are all heading to San Francisco in July for a conference I attend for a work. We are taking a few extra days for vacation and plans are to visit the Walt Disney Museum. :)
Now, for the big news. We will be heading back to WDW in November for Thanksgiving. We will arrive the Friday before Thanksgiving and staying until the Wednesday before Turkey Day. However, we are not heading home but............................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......................

Thanks! I like that picture as well.
We used to go to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg all the time. It is only 4 1/2 hours from us so it was an easy drive. We haven't been since Jeremy was in kindergarten so he will be super excited to go back. We always went in April, early May so the crowds were low and the weather was usually pretty warm. Tom and I were actually married at one of the wedding chapels there 11 years ago at the end of this month.

I am doing better with the band. I have learned what works and what doesn't.
Wish we could be there later in the month. Would love to meet you! We only get 2 days for Spring Break anymore which is really frustrating so we will pull Jeremy out for 4 days. Plus, they always do Spring Break with Easter which is one of the most expensive times of the year to travel. I would like to have a full week and it be not near Easter. I get very frustrated as the entire school board does not have children in the school and they don't seem to get what parents want. :confused3

I am so sorry about your hot dog issue. We had a similiar issue in December - my oldest manages to get reflux from hot dogs - and she ate 3 corndogs one day at MK - needless to say, we were in our room the next day!
Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!
(Do you know your plans for spring break yet?? We are there April 2 - 7th - and we don't have specific park plans - I am thinking we'll go to the water parks a lot - we'll see though!)

Excuses, excuses, excuses!!! That seems to be all I write about on this report. Boy, where does the time go anymore. This has been one of the most hectic months for us in a loooooong time. It is finally starting to settle down and I can concentrate on my Disney planning.
I have a little news on the trips front. We decided to add 3 days to our spring trip so we will now be there for 8 nights!!! We had mulled this idea for some time and was going to pay out of pocket at a moderate but decided to go ahead and stay DVC. We will be at OKW the last 3 nights unless a wait list comes through. I am not planning on that happening. :confused3 However, I am trying to convince Tom to stay the last night at Beach Club since we never have. He thinks it is a pain to pick up and move but oh, the thought of stormalong bay has me still bugging him every day. Wish me luck!!! :wizard:
So, with staying DVC that meant we would have less points available in November. Plus, Tom's new union contract threw a kink in those plans. Tom has a lot of comp time at work. However, their new contract limits how much of it they can take in a calendar year now. It really doesn't make sense as I think more people will start asking to be paid for overtime instead of taking comp but it means that Tom will not have enough time for our November trip as we had it planned. So, we will not be visiting Disney World before the cruise. We are mulling the idea of a day at Legoland beforehand and then the 4 night cruise, which I now officially have booked!!! :yay:
I am bummed about no Disney at Christmas. I don't think we will be going back to Disney World in 2013. We are planning to visit Disneyland that year plus I want to save points for summer of 2014 and spend 2 weeks at the world. But, who knows, I never thought I would get to go back and now I am on trip #8!!!
Finally, the end of our first day....November 18, 2011. I last left this report with Jeremy and I on Main Street watching it snow. It was getting close to the 2nd parade and I was starting to wear down. It had been a long day with no rest other than some relaxing pool time. However, Jeremy and I were both determined to see the parade so stay we would.
I was able to find Jeremy some curb space on Main Street so he could sit and I stood for the parade. We only had about a 30 minute wait so it wasn't too bad.
Now I present to you............................................... ...............................a Disney Christmas Parade! (Please pardon the pictures...it is time for a new camera in our house!!! Does anyone have some good suggestions? It has to be simple as I am not an avid photographer like some on the boards!)

Please excuse me for posting while you are updating, but I was so excited to see you post an update :woohoo: and I can't see your pictures until I get home tonight, so I will be back.
Woo hoo :cool1: for adding nights to your next trip. I have to add a night to my June trip and I was going to stay in a resort room, but now I think I will just wait list. Decisions, decisions.
Cool that you were married in Gaitlinburg. I really would love to go back there sometime in the fall. I want to hike in the smokey's and take some foliage pictures!

I tried to get a good picture of Santa but they are all blurrier than the parade ones. :confused3
It was well after 11:00 and most definitely after my bed time when the parade was over. There was a mass exit for the gates and honestly, I didn't feel like dealing with that right now. The castle stage show had another performance close to 11:15 or 11:30 (can't remember) so we decided to catch that. Once again my camera gave me fits so I won't bore you with those blurry pictures. We watched a little of it when Jeremy looked at me and asked to ride more rides until the park closed. :scared1: I was beat and really wanted to get back to the room but you only get a once in a lifetime moment like this with your son and I was going to enjoy it.
So, off to Fantasyland we went. We only rode one ride before it was time to go. Pooh had hardly anyone in line and Jeremy wanted to check out their queue area as we usually bypass it with fastpass.

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0589.jpg
It was lots of fun to play in and we were soon on our way to the 100 Acres Woods.
After Pooh, it was almost midnight so we made our way out of the park. By the time the bus came and we made the stops on our way back to the Boardwalk, it was close to 1:00 a.m. when we made it to the room. :scared1: Wow, I can't believe we had stayed out that late. We are not night owls at all but it was so much fun. We had a late night snack in the room and was soon asleep at 1:30.
Up Next:
Will we make rope drop at Epcot?
I finally experience the International Gateway!!!--What a gem! :thumbsup2
What does Jeremy find in the World Showcase that is his new favorite thing at Disney?
And a promise....I am going to do my best to update a lot more frequently. Thank you to those of you who have stuck around this long. I am committed to finishing this trip before we leave in 1 month and 7 days!!!! :cool1:

I love adding nights to our vacation but the decisions get the best of me! I could have kicked myself as two weeks ago I saw BLT had the last three nights available and I waited too late to switch it. :confused3 We love staying there.
I am looking forward to Gatlinburg in May. It has been years since we have been there. We used to go all the time when Jeremy was little until we found our love for Disney. ;) It is only 4 hours from where we live so it makes an easy drive and a nice long weekend.

Oh, I am sooo jealous of the cruise! How exciting. I want to stow away! :thumbsup2
We are there April 6 - 13. Let's try to meet up on the 6th or 7th before you leave. I don't have set plans just yet. Jeremy says he will do Tower of Terror so Tom and I are thinking we might do DHS on Saturday just to get him on that before he chickens out!!!

Great updates! So sorry to hear you were sick. Stay away from hotdogs!!
Wow you did stay up late but it is so much fun & the time goes by so fast down there.
We will be going this April too but we are going April 19th-27th. It is school vacation week here in NH that week.
Oh & we are back at Beach Club instead of Boardwalk. I so wanted Beach Club & kept calling & they finally had a room available. Storm Along Bay here we come!!
Isn't International Gateway wonderful?? :cloud9:
Looking forward to reading more.

It was lots of fun hanging out until the park closed. We have never done that before except for the very first time we took Jeremy to the Magic Kingdom when he was 4. We stayed off property and didn't have park hoppers so we got there when it opened and stayed until midnight. We were worn out but had so much fun!!! There is nothing like that very first time at Disney with your child.
I would have loved the Beach Club. Went in today to book it and it was gone for the last night. So, I guess unless pixie dust comes my way, we will be at OKW the last 3 nights. I have heard good things about it but I am not sure Tom will like it. It is very spread out and he tends to not like those resorts. I loved Coronado Springs and he didn't due to how big it was. :confused3
I  the International Gateway. It is a true gem in my opinion! Jeremy and I went over there several nights and hung out in the world showcase. I can't wait for Tom to experience it in April. So easy to get in Epcot that way.

Thanks for the info on the camera. I will have to check that out. I need something that runs on its own so the auto setting would work great for me!!! I am not a good picture taker at all.
We might try staying late this time at the parks. I am sure the crowds will be high due to Easter week so we may take in some more EMH.
Can't wait to hear all about DL. Even if you don't do a trip, I will have to at least get some pictures. I bet your children are super excited about flying.

I have to admit, I wouldn't advocate for 3 resorts in an 8 night trip, that sounds a little brutal! Pixie dust on your waitlist coming through.
Even blurry the parade pics are a ton of fun and WOW you guys made it to the bitter end, didn't you! Fun night. :santa:
Rope drop? Yikes, I hope not! Not after going to bed that late anyway on travel day.
Loved the parade pictures. I forgot how cute that parade was. You got a great spot for taking pictures. I should probably go back tot he Christmas parade the next time I am there during the holidays.

We did have fun. I can't believe we stayed the entire night but it was worth it.

I  the Christmas parade! It was so much better this time minus the rain. The first time we went to a party, it rained most of the night. When it stopped raining, there was a lot of the parade that did not come through so I was super excited to get to see it all.
Jeremy is becoming quite the night owl! at Disney and at home. He has been in some trouble lately for reading in bed in the middle of the night on a school night. :scared1: Talk about a bear in the morning!

I love the parade and the music. That was the only thing I forgot in November. I had intended to buy the Christmas CD and it slipped my mind. I have it on my souvie list for April. I love the halloween cd and it helps me get through that time of year when I am not going to Disney.

I went back online and that day at the BC is not available now. I redid my waitlists some so I am hoping that maybe I will get lucky with a day or 2 here and there. I am sure OKW will be fine but not sure that Tom will enjoy it. I love staying nearing Epcot. It is so nice to just walk over there.

I have a Cannon Power Shot SX40. New to me last year & I love it!! It has the 35X zoom!! It is not an SLR but close. It is bulky with the zoom but I just strap it around my neck. I got the idea for the camera from Poolrat & it takes great pics. The pics I am posting on my TR from Oct. were taken with it. I really like it but I did just purchase another battery for it because in Oct. when we went I had to recharge it in the afternoon every day. The battery was only like $11.00 online.

Thank you for the well wishes! We did come out okay and very lucky! There was a tornado touched down in the county next to ours and took out 70% of the town. The town is called, Moscow, Ohio on the river. You should google it and look at the devestation there. We have camped there before with the scouts at the dam near the town. When the storm came into our county, it did some damage and a few homes were destroyed but was relatively calm when it got to us. It then touched down 3 small tornadoes in the other neighboring county which is where I work. People lost homes and in some spots, we never did find the electric line that was there.
In my home state of Kentucky, there was a lot of damage. My dad's wife is from West Liberty, Kentucky. Her aunt owned a flower shop there and it is totally gone. Complete devestation! Google it as well.
I worked all weekend at the electric company. As of Sunday night, all of our customers had power restored. It was a long, exhausting weekend but at the end of every day, I was thankful that I came home to a home, it was warm with power, and my family was there. These type of things really put life in perspective.
I have pictures loaded and hope to have an update this afternoon. I also had some Disney luck and changed my last 3 nights from OKW. It didn't come through on my waitlist but through DVC reservation checking. I will keep you wandering about that until this afternoon......................................:ro lleyes:

When I last left you, Jeremy and I had spent a Magical time at MVMCP and stayed out until 1:00 in the morning. The next day was Saturday, November 19th and it was supposed to be our Epcot day.
Now after a late night before, I had decided we would sleep in. However, we were on vacation and Jeremy and I were both in the "go, go, let's have fun" mode so we were up by 8, possibly even 7:30 if my memory serves me right.
I got up and was getting ready when Jeremy woke. He spotted these hot air ballons out the balcony window. You can't even see them in the picture as they were in the distance but it was very pretty and what a lovely day it was starting to be.

We ate breakfast and was soon on the Boardwalk heading to Epcot.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0590.jpg
This was our first time going through the International Gateway and I will have to admit I was too excited to even take pictures. We loved the Gateway. It is a hidden gem to Epcot in my opinion. We were just a few minutes after rope drop. In all our excitement, I did get one picture before we headed to get fastpasses for Soarin.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0591.jpg
With fastpasses in hand, Jeremy was not in the mood for Test Track this trip but wanted to ride to Livin With the Land. There was no one, and I mean no one, in line. We were on the ride completely by ourselves. It was sort of creepy but fun also.

I can remember riding Living with the Land when I was kid going to Disney with my mom and dad. I know that at the time I thought it was a strange ride to have in an amusement park but pretty neat. You should ride it. I have heard it is neat at night as well. I am thinking about doing the behind the seeds tour the last day we are at Boardwalk before we change resorts. Tom and I want to go to the DVC meeting at Atlantic Dance Hall that afternoon before we head to the other resort and thought that would be a fun thing to do while we were still close to Epcot.
The snoring story was at the very beginning of my last trip report! You should go back and read it. I could have died................................
I'm not sure either about the snoring in the lobby? But I am excited to see where you switched to. I love hearing about other's resort switches!
Great update. Love the picture of Jeremy on the balcony and I love the view you had. It's lovely!
I had such a blast going in the IG for rope drop. It was so cool.
Love your pictures on LWTL. They look almost identical to the ones I am going to post in one of my next updates (well, except for the pumpkins :rotfl:)
I have a canon dslr. I think both canon and Nikon make good cameras - both dslr and others.
The snoring story is at the very beginning of my last trip. Check it out. It is pretty funny what DH did.
I too had a blast with the IG. I can't wait to show Tom all about it.
I was sort of shocked to see the pumpkins in LWTL since it was Christmas throughout the park, but it was Thanksgiving week.
Thanks for the info on the camera. I am going to the city this weekend so I think I will stop and look. I do much better picking those things out when Tom is not with me.
ps - excited that you updated and glad you were not affected by the recent storms! :thumbsup2
Thanks! I am committed to get this report done. I am at the 29 day mark so I would like to have this one complete and a little pre-trip report before we leave.

Great updates Erika!!! :thumbsup2
I was a little behind, but I'm all caught up now!
YES you should definitely do the Behind the Seeds Tour!!! Yes yes yes! I loved it & so did my DH! Luke was really interested too which I thought was fairly impressive for a 3 year old! Although he does plant a garden every year with us, so that probably made him more interested in it! It honestly was the BEST $$$ ever spent at Disney (so far anyway!) -- such an inexpensive tour & seriously worth every penny! (Did you read my TR about the tour? If not, I have a Table of Contents on the first page of my TR, you should check it out!!!)
About the camera. I have a Canon Rebel Xsi and I know a few other DISers have the same one, including Brook (brookelizabeth) and Michelle (SoonerGirl). I know you follow both of their reports & mine if you want to see what type of pics the camera takes! Up until this point, I've only used the Automatic settings. I hope to possibly use some manual settings next trip, but for now, I'm sticking with Auto!
I am loving your MVMCP updates!!! I swear I could watch that parade over and over again on YouTube five thousand times a night and never get sick of it. I have to figure out a way to video it, take pictures, and watch the looks on my kids faces during the parade! LOL! Probably impossible, but I'll try!
Don't you just love the International Gateway??? We were soooo spoiled by staying at the Beach Club in September! I think we walked over to Epcot almost every evening just to get dessert and watch Illuminations. I will really miss it on future trips!
I can't wait to read about where you're staying! I'm going back now to find that story about snoring! :lmao:

I used to always leave with a new determination to start a good garden of my own. After a few failed attempts at that (and a few non-attempts) I have quit all of my garden dreaming. Now I just leave knowing that Living with the Land will be there for me to enjoy, and my produce will continue to come from a grocery store. :upsidedow

I love the Christmas party! It is so much fun.
The IG is a true gem in my opinion. We went to Epcot a lot of nights and did just the same thing you did.
Right now, we are going to do the Behind the Seeds tour. I may not book it until we get there in case something changes. I think it will be something fun to do while we spend time waiting for the DVC meeting before switching resorts. I did read it on your report.
I saw you updated on your report so I need to head over there. Hope the new baby is doing well!

Let's keep this report moving on! We are now at 29 days until we leave for Disney and the excitement is starting to build. The pictures from F&G opening day yesterday was enough to make giddy! I can hardly wait. I am starting to get in trip mode now that things are dying down at work and home. I plan to go buy a new camera this weekend. I am getting things caught up at work so I won't be overwhelmed the week we leave. Excitement is in the air!!!
:cheer2:Poolrat Pat is the only person who rememberd the snoring story from our last trip and guessed correctly! We will be spending the last 3 nights of our stay at Kidani with a Savanna View!!!! :cloud9: I was over the moon happy when things had calmed down at work enough for me to check the DVC website on Sunday and see that they had availabilty all 3 nights. I quickly called and got switched from OKW to AK. I couldn't be more happier. We loved AKL in the summer and Jeremy loves the pool at Kidani.
For those of you who missed the snoring story. Last year we arrived at Disney mid morning and headed directly to AKL. We ate lunch and at 1 p.m. we still had not gotten a text that our room was ready. Jeremy wanted to swim so I went and got our bag of swimsuits out of the car and he and I changed in the restrooms and headed to the pool. Tom wasn't feeling it so he was going to sit in the lobby with my phone and let us know when the text would come.
Jeremy and I enjoyed the pool until about 2 pm when the skies opened and it started pouring rain. We changed and found the rocking chairs to enjoy looking at the Arusha savannah. I sent Jeremy to find his dad and he comes back to let me know he found him but he was asleep in the lobby! :scared1: Okay, I could have died at this point. When Tom goes to sleep he snores---VERY LOUDLY. I sent Jeremy back to wake him up.
Guess what, he was already awake as the snoring was getting so loud that a cast member came over to check on him. :rolleyes1 Once again, I could have died!
I left you with Jeremy and I on Day 2 of our trip. We had just gotten on Spaceship Earth when I knew it was going to happen. While I enjoyed the trip with just Jeremy, there were a lot of times I missed Tom for selfish reasons. It is nice where there is 3 of you to have your own ride car, long seats, etc. and not have to share with strangers. This was one of those times. They put Jeremy and I behind a woman and teenage boy. When it came time for the picture they take as you start the ride, the boy started waving his hands in the air really crazy and right in front of Jeremy. I knew it was going to block Jeremy's face. When we got to the end of the ride, sure enough Jeremy's face was the boy's hand. This is the only time Jeremy really reared an ugly side the entire trip and he was really upset and "honked" off as I would put it. He wanted nothing to do with planning his future and kept going on and on about how the kid had ruined his trip. :rolleyes1 Geez, I sat there thinking I wonder how many times I will please you this trip and ride this ride so there will be more times to get your picture. But, he was upset and making me more angry by the minute. We quickly got off the ride and he got a nice talking to in the corner. Once his mood was better, I let him do one game.
He likes the body game so I made him get in the longest line and wait his turn. He needed some punishment and time to cool off. :lmao: At the end of the game, he was much better and really never reared his ugly side again.

Our fastpass time was up so we went and soared over California in the first row, I might add! I love Soarin. It is probably my favorite ride on property.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0636.jpg
After Soarin' we were filling a little hungry so Jeremy and I enjoyed some early morning dessert from Sunshine Seasons. I think we split a piece of Strawberry Cake and Chocolate Cake.
We took our time leaving Future World as it was getting close to opening for the World Showcase. They had a stage set up for a gospel concert once the holiday festivities started.

Then, it was time to head around the world in 80 days--or at least one afternoon!

Before I update the trip, I had a little exciting news to share. After having worked basicly 11 days straight, I was in desperate need of a break and my house really needed my attention. So, I took the day off Friday. After I dropped Jeremy off at school, I came home and went to the mailbox to get Thursday's mail before I started cleaning. Imagine my surprise, when there was not one but two pieces of mail from Disney!!! :cheer2: The photopass card for the April trip was there plus the Welcome to your first Disney Cruise brochure from Disney Cruise Line! I almost skipped the whole way up the driveway. I was sooooo excited!!!! What a great way to start the day! Tom laughed at me when I talked to him later. He said I sounded like a little school girl!!! I was so excited.
Okay, enough giddiness and on with this trip!!!
Jeremy and I started our normal trek around the World Showcase---to the left!!! :confused3 I am not sure why but we always start on the left! Does anyone else always have a side they start with? We have never started on the right!
First up, Mexico and the Three Cabelleros!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0647.jpg
I think we rode that ride 3 times!! Jeremy loves it and actually it is quite fun to me also. Very festive. We looked around in the shop for a while but didn't purchase anything.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0648.jpg
Jeremy's snack wasn't lasting him and he was getting hungry. So, we did something we had never done before. We ate counter service in Mexico! Not sure why we have never eaten there before since we are big Mexican food fans but we hadn't. Trust me, it wasn't the last time this trip nor will it be for trips in the future!
I ordered a nachos with churros to share on the dining plan. I should say that we shared the nachos but Jeremy had the churros all to himself. Jeremy went and got us a table and when I got there he was giggling and smiling like he had done something. I asked him what was up and he said nothing. When we got to China, I noticed I had a new picture on my camera. It looks like he thought it was too funny he had took a picture of a bird! Silly boy!

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0652.jpg
We saw the film in China and explored the pavilion. I bought a new lipstick clutch in the store.
Alright, maybe I am confused! Is China next or Norway? My pictures show Norway then China. :confused3 Any hoo, here is China!

And now, Norway!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0653.jpg
We explored the store and shop but Jeremy wasn't in the mood for Maelstrom so there was no viking ride this trip!
It was in Norway that Jeremy decided it was time to give a KP Mission a try again. We did this back in 2009 when we took the trip with my mother. The trip I would never dare want to repeat. It wasn't fun and my mother did not find humor in any of the things we did, including KP. She tends to talk down things for a long time afterwards and that is where some of Jeremy's hesitance to ride certain rides comes from and was also one reason he would not do KP again. So, we got a communicator and was on our way.
We stopped by Germany and picked Tom up a bag of caramel corn and Jeremy spent some time looking at the trains.
The storytellers didn't start until after we were gone but I had to get a picture with the Nutcracker.

We tentatively made plans to meet up at DHS the next day and see if we could Jeremy on ToT and if not, she could watch Jeremy while I rode. I can tell you now for those of you that know Jeremy, it never happened! He says he will in April but I am not placing any bets on it!
After our nice visit, it was time to help Kim in France.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0673.jpg
There was something it did this time on the Eifel Tower. But for the life of me I cannot remember what!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0674.jpg
Jeremy was having so much fun with these missions! I love the excitement and happiness on his face.

After the France mission, I told him it was time for a break saving the world.
We didn't spend much time in Morocco as we had explored it a lot in the summer.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0677.jpg
I wanted to get back to the American Pavilion and see the show and possibly finally get to see the entire Voices of Liberty show.
When we got there, a show had just started so there was going to be a wait but we didn't mind. We were delighted that the Fife and Drums came out--another new thing for us!

There were pretty trees inside as well!
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0682.jpg
Yay, the Voices of Liberty!!! How amazing!!! Loved being there for the entire performance! One of the members came up and talked to us afterwards. He was from Philly and talked about the rivalry between them and the Cincinnati Bengals.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0685.jpg
We watched the American Adventure--in the front row!! I indulged Jeremy this time. It was still good even being up soooo close!
Up Next:
Can anyone guess what Jeremy wanted to do in the afternoon?
Oh my, this is the best dinner ever!!! I can't believe we have missed this over the years!

Every trip has a meltdown of some sort, and each person on the trip does too. If that's the worst, well, it could be worse!
Fun morning though.
Poor Tom on the snoring, it is kind of funny but probably better that you weren't there to be mortified live. Congrats on your move, Kidani savanna view, I can't think of much better than that!
Looks like Kim redeemed herself on the 2nd go round, without your mom and you had a lovely lunch in Mexico.
YAY for Mickey Mail!
So excited that you got your cruise documents. I am going to book my 10/2013 cruise as soon as I get one more AAA rebate certificate (from my credit card). I have a Disney visa, but the AAA rewards are better so I figure each time I get a reward I will just mail it to the AAA agent and use it towards the cruise.
What a great time in Epcot. I absolutely love that picture of Jeremy in front of the Christmas tree in the United States. How the heck did you get all of that in one picture? Nice! :worship:
I love the China movie and I am long overdue to see it again.
Yeah for a DIS meet!
Looks like Epcot wasn't very crowded. Nice! You got a lot of great pictures of Jeremy.
OH - and I love the KP missions, but I definitely think they are better after a couple adult beverages. Did you do the one in Germany? My absolute favorite! ;)

Would love to hear all about your trips! If you don't want to finish one of those, why don't you do one for your 2012 trip! I will be there for the entire thing. Would love to read all about it.
The only thing is I'm not going this year, I just haven't taken it out of my sig yet

I think I am going to take one of those 'I just need a day off' days tomorrow.
I enjoyed the World Showcase pictures. We usually start in Mexico, but not always. The line-up going left from the front is Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, America, Japan, Morocco, France, UK, and Canada. If we enter through the back gate, we go across the bridge, start in France, and end up in Mexico. If we do it that way, we'll skip UK and Canada and catch them on the next walkaround.
I saw some kids doing the Japan mission one time, and they were over by the rocky area with the lamp that you have in your pictures. The only mission we have ever done was in UK. Brooklynn was a little young to get into it. Maybe we will have time to do another one this summer. She might be more into it now
Yay for a DIS meet and for getting to see the fife and drum corps. The tree in America was beautiful.
A good dinner coming up next? I'm in! :thumbsup2

I am so glad that we were able to meet up in November - and glad that we ended up running into each other the next day, too :thumbsup2
I'm glad that Jeremy was willing to give the KP missions another try - and I can't imagine how frustrating that must be to have those negative comments really form what he's willing/not willing to do! Ack!
Uber jealous of the cruise! I have planned two for clients this week, so I am just living vicariously.
So, have y'all figured out your April plans? We need to see if our schedules will mesh once again.

Sorry you've been so busy at work! Is it related to the tornadoes that came through your area?
Fun day at Epcot! I'm glad Jeremy was enjoying the KP missions. We think they are a lot of fun. Zach & I had the hardest time figuring out what to do when we got the Eiffel Tower clue. We finally figured it out but I think that was the hardest clue we've ever gotten in all of our missions. Zach said we were doing an "Advanced Mission"!

Yes, dinner was at a favorite of yours! It was a place I always wanted to eat but never made it. One of my favorites now too!
Jeremy is excited about the new Phineas and Ferb missions. I didn't have the heart to point out to him that it would be 2014 before he got to try them out. :sad1: He is excited about the new game in MK. I am sure we will give it a try in 22 days!!! :dance3: Can you tell I am getting excited!
Thanks for the lineup of World Showcase. I was drawing a blank the other day.

So, have y'all figured out your April plans? We need to see if our schedules will mesh once again.
Yes, the trip in 2009 was very frustrating. It took years to get him back on Everest and he used to love that ride. The sad thing is I have to minimize time that he is around my mom before our trips or she starts all over again. I think she is just really mad that we love it and keep going and don't ask her to go with us anymore. I love her but I cannot and will not do another trip with her. Very, very sad and upsetting time. :sad2:
So, for April, we arrive on April 6th. We will probably head to Epcot if the room is not ready. If it is, Tom will probably head to bed and Jeremy and I to the pool. It will probably be Epcot that evening.
Are you still there on the 7th? If so, plans are to hit the really early EMH at MK.
What are your plans those days? I would so love to see you.
Sorry you've been so busy at work! Is it related to the tornadoes that came through your area?

Yes, I worked that entire weekend as the crews were restoring power. It was some very long days and then had to work the regular 40 hours as well. I am on salary so luckily my boss did give us 3 days to take off whenever we wanted since we don't get paid for all the time we worked. It was nice so I used one last Friday and of all things, cleaned my house. :sad2: I will use the other 2 for the trip to Disney to save some vacation for later trips! :thumbsup2
I agree about the Eiffel Tower clue. Jeremy and I couldn't figure it out and then finally saw someone else doing it. I still can't remember what it did. Did it light up at the top or something? :confused3

Loved the World Showcase update!!! It's my absolute FAVORITE part of Disney! I could just walk around there day after day & never get sick of it! I truly love it there! My husband likes Epcot as well but he says he needs new scenery & couldn't walk around it that much -- but I disagree! I seriously could just hang out in World Showcase for a month!!! :cloud9:
We ate at the QS in Mexico for the first time this past September too! Honestly I wasn't thrilled with the food :confused3 The tacos my DH got were not good and I got a different kind and they were really dry. I almost got the nachos & wish I would have! However, we all thought that the churros were AMAZING!!! :thumbsup2 I'm planning to give it another try on a future trip though -- since I was pregnant in September, my taste buds weren't the same as they normally are! We did sit in the perfect spot though! We had an amazing view of the water & other pavilions across the lake!!! I also thought they had a really good assortment of condiments -- more than a usual QS since they offered a variety of sauces! We're thinking about trying San Angel next trip since we originally had it scheduled for September but cancelled at the last minute.
Yay for a DIS meet!!! :thumbsup2
I'm glad Jeremy enjoyed the KP missions!!! My oldest son, Matthew, is 10 (will be 11 soon!) and he did them last year. He's already getting into the stage where he's "too old" to do things, so I was glad he still enjoyed so many things at Disney -- and willingly choose to do them!!! I just told him last night about Phineas & Ferb & he's looking forward to it!!! I think Luke will really enjoy it too when we go back summer of 2014 to see the new Fantasyland.
I loved seeing the Christmas decor in your pictures!!!
I can't wait to hear where you ate!! We love sooooo many of the choices at Epcot, it's always really hard to narrow it down to just a couple each trip!

The tacos were a little different there. We got the chicken ones and it was just basicly chicken in a soft tortilla. I actually liked them but they are different. The nachos are really good!
We have eaten San Angel Inn and I really enjoyed the meal there. We ate lunch. The food was good plus I like the atmosphere being next to the ride.
Do you have a date for summer 2014? That is when we return after our trip in April. I am just hoping I can stay away that long....................... Not sure that will happen!
Update coming soon! We didn't eat dinner at Epcot. It was at DTD and a place I can't believe we had never made it to.

Well, we are at 21 days!!! Woo hoo!!! I can hardly wait. In 21 glorious days, I will be back at my happy place!!! I did make one more change to our room reservation this week. :confused3 I know, I need to stop making changes! I had too much time on my hands Tuesday when I lay in bed sick. So, we are now staying 4 night at the Boardwalk (not 5) and 4 nights at Kidani. I was able to snag one more night there. The boys were super excited as Tom cannot wait to see the animals and Jeremy cannot wait to hit the pool!
So, after a wonderful afternoon going around the world and helping Kim on two missions while meeting a great Dis friend, Jeremy and I were ready for a break. We started making our way to the International Gateway.

If you go to Epcot on Friday, we could absolutely meet you there. But I am sure the girls will want to go to Hollywood Studios on Saturday as (egads!) Magic Kingdom is their least favorite park.

Thank you!! That is good to know. We no longer due to the regular dining plan as it was just too much food for me. Jeremy and I did quick service our trip and it was too much. We split meals many times. I am going to do quick service again this trip as I think it will be just right for all 3 and we can use some credits for breakfast. With all that said, it is nice to know as Jeremy loves Chef Mickey's and we like Cape May. We ate Crystal Palace in November and I walked away feeling horrible that I has spent so much money on what little I ate. I have the card so I will have to use it. I never had before but that would be a perfect way to start. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Wow, we are at 17 days!!! --17 days!!! I am giddy with excitement. Actually we leave in the afternoon in 16 days!!! I had some major pixie dust luck come my way today. We were supposed to leave on Thursday, April 5 right after my board meeting at work. Well, the other manager who comes to the board meetings with my boss and I is heading to Florida that day as well to see his grandson. We got together and suggested to our boss that they move the meeting to an afternoon after a retirement party we were having at the coop on March 30th and the board agreed!!!! :cheer2: So, I have that Thursday off and instead of leaving at 9 or 10 at night, we can leave as soon as Jeremy gets home from school!!!! I can hardly wait. I took the day off to get everything ready so for me, vacation will start in 16 days!!!!
Well, I had better keep chugging on if I am going to finish this report on time.
So, after a fun-filled day at Epcot and some afternoon swimming, Jeremy and I headed to DTD.

I had a place in mind that I wanted to eat at. I have seen it on many trips and was ready to stand in line to give Earl of Sandwich a try. :cloud9: Okay, there are no pictures. The line was long and Jeremy and I were very hungry when we finally got our food to eat. A nice couple saw just Jeremy and I and motioned for us so we could have their table when they got up. It was so nice! The first bite was pure food heaven. My oh my, what had we been missing all these years!!! I got a turkey sandwich that had bacon on it and Jeremy got the one with ham. I can't remember what they were called. We used the dining plan so I think Jeremy got dessert and I got jello. Geez, even the jello was heavenly there. There was no way we could eat all that so the leftovers made a nice breakfast the next morning. So, I know some of you probably thought my dinner was at some fancy sit down restaurant but Earl was definitely the winner for the best meal we had!!! I can't wait for Tom to give it a try.
Afterwards, we explored World of Disney. I say explore as that shop is one adventure in and of itself. It was soooo busy that night. I know why I like having the car and hitting DTD early in the morning. Jeremy found the new Hollywood Studios Hat playset and had to buy it with his money papaw gave him. I indulged even though I thought it would have been a great Christmas present from Tom and I and would ship it home. It was a lot of fun packing that thing for the plane ride home. :confused3
So, after some shopping, we decided to call it a night and head back to the Boardwalk.

Chip and Dale was even having some fun.

We were the first ones at the boat dock for Hollywood Studios.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0738.jpg
We were on the first boat that headed to HS that day. If you are at the Boardwalk, to get to HS, you got to the BC, Swan and Dolphin and then HS.
I like the tree at DHS. I think the roll of film at the bottom is just too cute!

Will I ever get those Toy Store fastpasses?
Wow, there is actually a counter service restaurant I like at DHS!

Can't wait to see you again!

Hello, found your TR by way of DisMomAmy. Loving it so far, love a mother/son trip. He looks like he is having a great time.
You took some great pictures of the trip so far. Sorry you had a rocky start with being sick and all but it seems like after that things have been smooth sailing.
Excited for your upcoming trip too. Congrats on getting the room changes you wanted.

Great update, Erika! :thumbsup2
We LOVE Earl of Sandwich! I am sooooo disappointed that we didn't eat there in September. We've discussed it though & we will definitely be eating there next trip! We really, really missed it!!! :sad2:
I always get the Hawaiian BBQ sandwich. It is sooooo delicious!!!
We've always had good luck there with seating too -- there's always someone leaving right when we need to sit down!
World of Disney and Once Upon a Toy are my favorite two stores to browse through at DTD! I like the different "rooms" in each store & how you can pretty much find anything there! I can't believe we skipped WoD in September -- it seems like I missed out on a lot of my favorites! :confused3
I am really loving the pics of all the Christmas decor! I can't wait to see all the Christmas trees in person! You're right -- that movie reel at the bottom of the DHS tree is really neat!!!
I understand what you mean about PhotoBucket. My photo website isn't giving me trouble, but my laptop is. Of course I have my updates typed up on my laptop & DIS only works well on the desktop. And of course I don't have Word on the desktop! Can't make it easy!? Sometimes I hate technology!

I would have preferred the walk but Jeremy was all about riding the boat. I suspect that I might try the walk this trip and let Tom and Jeremy ride the boat. It would be interesting to see who gets there quicker!
That gingerbread house made the lobby smell delicious! You could smell gingerbread every time you walked in it.

You have to try EoS. It was delicious and will be a must every trip from now on. There was a long line at night but it moved really quickly.
You have to try Disney at Christmas! It is truly magical. Everyone must do it at least once in their life.

Let's keep this trip rolling because in 14 days I will be back at WDW!!!!
After an uneventful relaxing boat ride from the BW, we had arrived at DHS.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0742.jpg
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0743.jpg
They were letting people in the park up to the opening show line. Jeremy and I took our time and looked at the window displays.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0744.jpg
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0745.jpg

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0747.jpg
We watched part of the opening show and then started on our way in what I like to call the Toy Story Dash. It was at this point that I started missing Tom. He is usually our FP runner. The crowd of people going to get FP was unbelievable and the line was out near Voyage of the Little Mermaid just to get a FP. I told Jeremy there was no way I was standing in this madness and we would come back later.
(Alright, I give up! What is it with photobucket and me. It just froze up again. Be back in a few with the rest of the update!)

So, after DHS opening and not wanting to go through the Toy Story Mania mad dash, Jeremy and I headed to the Great Movie Ride.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0748.jpg
I hate to admit this but I had never seen Mary Poppins (or at least that I could remember) until last Easter. What a shame! :sad2: A true classic that I had been missing.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0749.jpg
We had a short wait and was soon on our way.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0750.jpg
Now I know everyone says there are two sides to this ride. We always get the gangster side. So, I have decided I am going to ask to see if both sides are running when we are there in April and see if we can get the cowboy side. Has anyone ever been on that one? I assume that everything else is the same except for those parts.
Awww, we made it to Oz.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0754.jpg

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0759.jpg
After a wonderful ride through the movies, I decided we had better get those Toy Story FP. The line was down to One Man's Dream so I hopped in line and soon had FB for .................................................. ...........................after 2! Wow, the park had only been open about 45 minutes!
With FP in hand, it was time for Catastrophe Canyon and the Backlot tour. Now, I am not a big fan of Catastrophe Canyon. Jeremy likes it but I would rather walk right by and on to the tour.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0760.jpg

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0763.jpg
We spent some time in the museum after the ride. When we exited, we were near or either on (not sure) the streets of America and the Osborne Lights.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0764.jpg
We were close to Muppetvision so off we went. Jeremy loves this show and I can honestly not tell you how many times over this trip we saw it. I would say it was at least 3 this afternoon, maybe 4 and then more the night we went to see the lights.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0765.jpg

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0768.jpg
It was getting close to lunch time. Now, I knew there was no way I could handle Pizza Planet which is usually where we eat at DHS. To me, Disney pizza is the same everywhere. We like Pizza Planet for the atmosphere and the games. So, what to do when in my opinion there are limited good choices at DHS. Well, we tried something new and actually really liked it.
ABC Commissary (notice my favorite soap opera's sign is in the background--yes that was on purpose!)
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0770.jpg
I really liked this place. They had some healthier choices on the menu than I can normally find and was very pleased (enough that we ate there another night).

After lunch, Jeremy wanted to see Indiana Jones so off we went. Now, I was getting tired and sleepy so I got lazy for a while with the picture taking. I know we did Indy and I am pretty sure Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I must have awoke after that as the pictures started up again.
We were determined to make it to 2 p.m. before we headed back to the room so we could go on Toy Story. So, we headed to my favorite attraction at DHS...One Man's Dream.

http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0773.jpg

Then, we did some shopping. I was able to sneak a few Christmas presents for Jeremy without him knowing. We went in one store on the main street and they had this really pretty green beaded bracelet. I looked at it but put it back down. I am really bad at not buying myself anything when I really want it. Well, later on in the trip Jeremy went shopping at Mousegears for my Christmas present. More on that later but not only did the child buy me something in there, he also bought me the green bracelet for Christmas. I was sooo surprised Christmas morning!!! Such a sweet kid.
Up next:
It is time for our FP, will we ride Toy Story?
Will Jeremy stay for the parade?
Will we make it to the Osborne Lights?

I meant to put what I had to eat but forgot! :confused3 It was the chicken sandwich. I think it had cheese on it, possibly even bacon. Can't remember but it was very good and tender---not dry at all. I always got the apples or grapes as my side and we would eat them in the room later. Jeremy usually got my dessert since he was on the child's plan.

Okay, I am definitely asking for the cowboy side then. Glad to know I am not crazy.
They have some really neat decorations at DHS. It is probably my second favorite behind MK. I can never get tired of Disney at Christmas. It is simply stunning. I hope I can make it the next two years without going to WDW at that time.

Thinking back and trying to count in my head, I think we did the Muppets at least 5 times, possibly 6, the entire trip. Jeremy loves that show. It is okay for me. I had hoped they would do an update after the movie.
I am asking for the cowboy side. I am right there with your DH. I keep hearing that but never experienced it. That would be lots of fun.
I really liked ABC Commissary. I was able to get a good chicken sandwich that wasn't dry both times we ate there.
We love TSM. I am the Queen of the Wii game. However, at the parks not so much. Tom always beats me. Like you, my arm wears out. I was looking forward to it with just Jeremy and I. Stay tuned to see who wins.......or not!
I was shocked that he got the bracelet. He knew I wanted the scarf but never thought about him buying 2 things. I have a cute story about him buying the scarf the last night we were there. Hope to have this trip complete in 9 days so it should be coming soon!!!!

Then, he kept wanting to wait for the Toy Story FP return time. It was nice running into you guys again. Looking forward to seeing you next week!

That is awfully cute that Jeremy likes the Muppets that much! More than once though might put me over the edge.
We were pleasantly surprised by the Commissary in 2010, it was a spur of the moment choice based on getting out of the rain and not liking any of the other CS menus. Everyone really enjoyed their meal!

Glad you liked it too! I don't think there are a lot of good CS options at DHS.

A nice all around day at DHS. You got a lot done and even managed to get lunch there. I always struggle for a CS at DHS. At least when I am there during F & W I just walk over to EPCOT :lmao:

Wow... I got REALLY behind, didn't I?! It was fun having so many episodes to read this morning. Even with your Photobucket fiascos, you are busting out these updates!:thumbsup2
I think if some fool blocked my face on SE, I would be mad too! Poor Jeremy! I'm glad you helped him recover quickly, though!
VOICES OF LIBERTY!! So glad you got to see them! Make sure you see them again in a few days... you'll hear a whole new set of music!
I did Earl of Sandwich for the first time in October, and I agree... it was delish! (Didn't try the jello though... maybe next time)
What a special trip for the two of you. I totally understand missing the DH! Heading out on Monday to spend 4 days with my DH only! Then... I'll be missing the kids. It's just not complete unless the whole family is there, right?

A Little Life Update!
Well, life can sometimes really get in my way of Dising. It has been go, go, go since we got back. My boss has been away on medical leave so I have been pulling double duty ever since and I find that I can't get caught up here at work. We won't even mention home as nothing is getting done there either!!!
School is starting to wind down (which I am totally happy about!!) but Jeremy has kept me hopping with projects, events, etc.
But, honestly, the real reason I haven't been on much is that I haven't been feeling well. I haven't shared this with my family so you won't see anything on FB about it but I wanted to share it with my Dis friends. Only a few friends at work and Tom knows what is going on.
I started having trouble in my left shoulder/arm while we were at Disney. I have had trouble before and the doctor has always thought it was a problem where the tendons were getting out of the grooves they are in and need time to get back in place. Well, the pain started and got horribly worse after I rode ToT (yes, I finally rode it!!!! :)) So, for the rest of the trip, I had a good time but was really hurting in my arm. It was a different kind of pain than before. The 14 hour ride home just about got the best of me. I couldn't help Tom drive and was in constant pain the entire way. I went to the doctor the week we got back and he put me on a round of steroids. He was sure it was a pinched nerve in my neck. The steroids didn't phase it so I went back and had an MRI this week.
Throughout this time, I have since started having headaches and the pain is now going into my hand. I am exhausted when I leave work and often times the only relief I am getting is to lie in bed with the arm flat. So, most evenings and weekends are spent with me in bed. I have seen so many movies, shows in the last week that I am sick of TV.
I got the results from the MRI yesterday. There are 2 disks in my neck that have shifted to the left. It is not bad and can be treated with therapy. However, they had found a mass laying near two other disks that has the doctor concerned. He said that it would be indicative of someone who has chronic rheumatoid arthritis which I don't have so it can't be that. He is not sure what it is. It could be nothing. He is sending me to a neurosurgeon so they will not start the therapy until they figure out what this is. Of course, my mind is thinking the worse. It is hard not too.
Thanks for letting me share this with you. I needed to get it off my chest and really didn't want people around home knowing.
Please keep me in your prayers. I am going to try to update this report as I find the time and feel able. Plus, I want to start the new trip as we had such a good time and experienced some new things. And, I am going to try and get caught up on all of your great trips.

I hope you all don't mind but I am going to do a mass reply. Thank you all so much for all the well wishes and texts the past few weeks. I am blessed to have some really great Dis friends.
I saw the neurosurgeon Friday. The mass that showed on my MRI is nothing to be concerned about. He said that since I didn't have rheumatoid arthritis it should be of no concern.
However, he thinks that therapy will not help the pinched nerve problem as 2 months has almost gone by. I am having an EMG next week but the surgeon is pretty sure that we are looking at neck surgery. He told me that the longer I let this go the more likely I could start losing use of my arm. To say I was pretty scared was an understatement. I have been a nervous wreck all weekend. The thought of them cutting on my neck has me scared to death! I am a lot calmer this week and am seriously thinking about getting a second opinion. I am going to wait and see what the EMG shows next week. The doctor who does it also specializes in rehab services so I am anxious to see if he thinks rehab is not an option. Please keep me in your prayers. I will keep you posted.
I finally got caught up on all my subscriptions today so I hope to do an update on this report tomorrow. I still need to figure out how to download the pictures off my new camera. Once I do, I promise a new report soon. It will be a good. It was one of our best trips yet!!

So glad to hear that the mass they saw is nothing to worry about!
I'm sorry about your neck though. Getting a 2nd opinion is never a bad idea, just don't let it go too long. I kept putting off my back surgery because I was scared. Finally I realized that I wasn't going to get better without it and the risk of permanently damaging that nerve was growing. They were a bit nervous about the nerve healing at first, but thankfully it did!

Okay, it's pathetic when I have to go back and actually read the last update so I know where I left off. It has been too long....
So, we were in DHS, enjoying an afternoon of shopping until our Toy Story FP could be used. I am pretty sure that we hit the Muppets one more time before it was time to get our midway mania fun on. But, I guess it wasn't in the plan for us to play Toy Story this trip. :sad2: We got near the building and I noticed a huge line of people out the door, the Fast Pass Return door. :scared1: The wait was long even for fast pass and we were tired so there would be no Toy Story this trip. It was a bummer since Jeremy and I both like it so much but it is what it is.
We headed to the front gate. It was time for the Pixar parade. I suggested to Jeremy we watch it. I secretly love Disney parades!!! He wasn't in the mood but as we got close to the exit he changed his mind and we found a great spot. So, enjoy a cute Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade with the sun in your eyes!

Jeremy and I left DHS and took the boat back to the Boardwalk. So, when I first booked this trip all 3 of us were going and we were doing the regular dining plan. Once Tom wasn't able to go, I cancelled most of the reservations except for a few in case Jeremy and I got bored of the quick service plan. The day before we were to leave, my dad brought Jeremy spending money and gave him extra to take me out to dinner. Well, I let Jeremy choose where he wanted to eat so we kept the Crystal Palace breakfast that way we could be in the MK before it opens.
We got to the bus stop early that morning.

Some pretty topiaries on the way out.

I can't remember everything we did that morning. I know we did a few rides in Fantasyland and headed to the speedway. They opened up the third row and we were in front. Jeremy took off and my car wouldn't go. I never got any pictures of him in front of me---only of him waiting for me at the end.

We did Monsters, Inc.

We were done with Tomorrowland so we headed toward the Castle. Another one of my favorite parade's was starting so we watched.

It was time to try the Tiki Room. The only other time we had done this show was Jeremy's first trip and it scared him to death when the birds started singing. We had to leave rather quickly.

Jeremy and I actually really liked it.
Time for a jungle cruise.

And then on to a family favorite--the Hall of Presidents.

Our day at the MK would not be complete without one last ride on the Disney train.
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/yelkca/100_0929.jpg
It was mid-afternoon at this point. We were starting to get hungry and it looked rainy outside. So, we decided to hop on the monorail and eat lunch at the Contempo Cafe in the Contemporary and see the gingerbread displays. We made a wise choice as it started pouring rain once we got on the monorail.

You sound just like Tom!!! He wants me to go ahead and get it done. He had back surgery several years ago and told me the relief is amazing once you have the surgery. Glad everything worked out well for you! :thumbsup2
Oh Erica... How scary! Neck surgery would scare me too but I know a handful of people who have been through similar surgeries & it helped them a lot. I hope you get more information with the EMG so you can move forward with whatever you are going to do & start feeling better.
Can't wait for the next update!
Thanks for the well wishes!!! Mega update is up!!!---FINALLY.

It's good to have you back on the DIS!
I enjoyed seeing all the pictures this afternoon. Jill and I got Contemporary holiday pins. Glad you gave Tiki Birds another chance. :goodvibes
Is that an official Boardwalk t-shirt, or is it a DISign transfer one that you made? I like resort specific merchandise. I'm glad to see that AoA has some - at least for now.
Holy Mega Update!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:
I love Jeremy's candy cane mouse ears. They are so cute and he is just too cute wearing them all over Epcot.
I am going to miss KP. The Germany mission is my fav!
What a great evening in Epcot and a wonderful morning in the MK!

Great update! Your pictures are beautiful.
Jermany really liked those Kim Possible missions. I might have to get my son to try that next time.
