The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival is November 23rd & 24th. The Disney parade will start at 6:00pm and the fireworks at 7:00. More information can be found at www.themagnificentmile.com
The word is that Lilo & Stitch will be making an appearance!
For newbies, plan on picking a viewing spot no later than 5:00pm and remember it's Chicago. Dress warm. I like North Michigan Ave (around the Hancock building) for viewing then work my way down to the river to see the fireworks.

It's definitely worth seeing. I know people that start lining up around noon to get a good spot. It's usually way too cold for me to do that though. I'll take my chances by going later. Besides, why waste all that great shopping time? :teeth:

That sounds cool. As usual, I'm WAY too far away from Chicago to enjoy it myself :p but to everyone around there that's going have fun! :)
Thanks Figment! I usually work the weekends but I am actually off on the 23rd. We will try to go this year. :)

We were thinking of going this year with our 1 year old. Do you think it would be too hectic with her? Also, we thought of driving, so does anyone know of a good parking spot thats easy to get in/out of and not one of those 20 story ramps? We thought of taking the train, but I think with DD that just may be more difficult and make for a longer night. Thanks.

Over a million people show up for this every year, so your little one may be a little overwhelmed. Once everything is over, nothing moves very quickly (except the trains). In the past I've gone somewhere for a cup of tea or coffee to wait out the mad rush to get out of the city. Last year I didn't do this and was very, very sorry. If you do drive, plan on being there fairly early as parking lots fill up quickly and unfortunately anything nearby will be the multi-level garages, There are some single level lots on South Wabash Ave (near the Conrad Hilton) but then you've got quite a hike North (there are always buses though).
