this is a great deal! I was able to purchase the mercury glass mickey set for $7.94 shipped with the $15 off code and my $15 gift card from last week's promo.

It also appears that you can use it more than once by the verbiage by the offer onthe check out page.

Thanks for the info! I was able to buy my DD's Halloween costume for next year cheaper online than in the store! Not to mention all the costumes were sold out at the retail store I went to, and I thought I was going to have to make a trek to another one. You saved me a lot of headache!

I'm tempted to try that code again for another purchase.:teeth:

My credit cards wishes that I hadn't seen this thread! I ordered Lilo & Stitch (with lithos, pin and plush) for a total of $22.33.

Then I ordered the B&B DVD with Puzzle Pin Set for a total of $29.28.

Add to it the Disney Fairies Pin Sets (#1 and #2, ordered separately) for $16.51 each.

Finally, a Maleficent Costume for DD for next year ($34.85 total). She and her friend have already decided to go as Disney Villains for Halloween 2003.

I may not be through but I've got to take a breather.

Ordered:
1 Ariel personalized sweatshirt (14.50)
1 pair Minnie Mouse Shoes (6.25)
1 Minnie Mouse Costume (17.00)
1 Cinderella personalized sweatshirt (14.50)
1 Cinderella Costume (17.00)

Put them on separate orders total for everything $33.65!!!

Feel kinda guilty, however it says 'one per order' (not one per household).

I ordered 7 personalized sweatshirts and the credit card company put a block on my account - thought it was stolen, so many transactions in a short time period- for 24 hours. M&M Bean Bag Set (1)
Mickey Cuddle Tot (1)
Grumpy/Dopey Top (1)
M&M Pants(1)
Mickey Cardigan(1)
Lilo&Stitch DVD Set (1)

The total was $45 and some change including shipping. At the sale prices this would have cost me about $120. For the life of me, I don't know why they're doing this, but I had a ball shopping! I'm expecting a call from the charge card company any time now. Thanks for posting the code!

I got the same message. Incredibly, I was able to order two gift cards with the code. We'll see if it goes through. Doesn't make sense to be able to pay $10 for a $25 gift card!

I think they've definitely pulled the code this time. Every other time the site went down there was never a message regarding the code. Those times may have just been due to the traffic. This time it says the code isn't valid, so it sure looks to me like they've stopped it.

Someone on the DDL list called their local DS to see if they could use the GC for DDs. Amazing that all the sudden the code was gone. Man, I am not feeling very ahem, magical, toward that person right now......

But, I am still going to disney world in a little over a month, so I am still a happy kid!:p

DDL is Disney Dollarless and it is a website and email list for people who like to save money at Disney. (Watch out if you join- there are lots of emails! But it is a great group). You can check out the webiste at www.disneydollarless.com

And, what card has the code on the back of it? Is it from pre-ordering Lilo and Stitch?

DizneyDogs
11-02-2002, 07:33 PM
It was a promo that they ran awhile back you spent so much and then you got this $15 card to spend between Nov 1 -10. You would have thought Disney would have been a little bit smarter.

peachgirl
11-02-2002, 07:35 PM

TarraLee
11-02-2002, 07:37 PM
Yes, I would have thought they'd be smarter :)

I know I should feel bad, but I don't. Cause even though Disney is in the business of making "magic" they're still in business, and charging me 1300 for the Dec pkg. So $15 off my nephew's Christmas present is a drop in the bucket, no, the OCEAN, of money Disney collects from me every year :) lol

I am wondering if they'll cancel everyone's order that used the code? I sure hope not, and legally, I don't see how they could, but you never know.....what do you guys think?

lisajl
11-02-2002, 07:41 PM
I am hoping they do not cancel our orders. Especially since I used my $10 gift card from Lilo and Stitch to order Mulan!

I went back and ordered a sweatshirt with Biuzz for my son.
I did not overdue it, hope they will send it.
I would think it would be difficult to sift through all those orders!

TarraLee
11-02-2002, 08:29 PM
Dizney Dogs-
Just wondering who you spoke with that said they would honor them....someone at Disneystore.com? People on the other list are saying that they called the 1800 for guestservices for ds.com and were told by a manager that:

"I was just told that all orders for the gift cards would be canceled because
you cannot use the $15 to buy gift cards. Has anyone actually received there
gift card yet? The manager that I spoke to said that the holiday discount
were for orders over $65 and it was supposed to be a $15 gift card for that
purchase, he said that is why the code came off. I think everyone who has
brought the gift cards should call the 1800# to make sure they are really
getting there gc."

I didn't call, I don;t think they want everyone who used the code to call, :) but if they cancel my order I will be mad, mad, mad  since it was completely their mistake, and I printed my reciept out too.

I think its terrible some folks used the code to basically steal money. I pre-ordered Lilo & Stitch and lots of other folks bought legit items. A few sour apples ruined it. I'm just hopeful my order and everyone else who used it the correct way went through.

lisajl
11-02-2002, 09:06 PM
Well...lots of people did take advantage of that mistake...including me.
I ordered Mulan...$15 off plus my $10 g.c. from preordering Lilo and Stitch.
So, you know it would not surprise me if they do not honor it.
I would like them to, but understand if they do not.
I will just buy it later.

I think its terrible some folks used the code to basically steal money. I'm not really sure to what you are referring BUT I logged on, was allowed to use the code and the disclaimer stated "ONE DISCOUNT OR PROMOTIONAL CODE PER ORDER". Not per person, household, account-order.

And while I would never condone stealing under any circumstance, don't you think it's highway robbery to charge us $2.50 for a 69 cent bottle of water because they have you at their mercy in the parks? How come nobody ever complains about that? When the dvds were on sale, did you pay $10 or did you insist on paying full price?

Park prices aside, if you used the code to get gift cards, you:

A). Abused the system
B). Ended the chances for others to get something they've always wanted for a deal
C). Used poor judgement IMHO

I pre-ordered Lilo & Stitch and the $11 total is a few dollars savings than if I waited and went to Wal-Mart and bought it for around $14. What I did was perfectly acceptable. Using the code for gift cards, although permissable due to an apparent glitch in Disney's system, is still wrong anyway you look at it. I just hope my order and everyone else who bought regular items goes through.

When I got my $15 cards back in September I called the Disney Catalog up and asked them what was to stop any person from using the holiday code. Because when I first got my cards I noticed that all you needed to know was the code and the card didn't say anything about mailing it in so I just wanted to make sure. The cast member put me on hold while she asked her supervisor. It's hard for me to believe that Disney as strict as they usually are with all their promos and rules didn't even think of the abuses that this promo would lead to. When I read the fine print on the back of the card it was very obvious as to the loophole involved. When the cast member came back on the line she said that all I had to do was put the word "holiday" in and I didn't have to mail the cards in at all. I made purchases in August that entitled me to 6 cards. So sure I could have made more than 6 purchases but I only made 6 since that is the number of cards I had. Now I see on their website that you do have to mail your cards in to receive the $15 discount which I think is only right.

With all the technology Disney has, you would have thought they would have had individual passwords. They do when you log in to complete a survey.
Me, like many I'm sure, just read about this great savings and used it. It wasn't until yesterday late afternoon that I was reading how this savings originated.
I think mailing in was a great way to do this, if it was limited to only certain people. Or at least have individual passwords -- used in the same way basically as a gift card (or as resort rate postcard).

Does that mean whomever did not have a legitimate card will be charged the full amount, and then only credited when they receive a card to match the order number?

How do you read that, or has anyone spoke to a Disney rep?

Curious how this will work out. If Disney charges full price for the order, then only credits when they get the card - they're smarter than we've given them credit for ehh?????

Let me know how you think this will pan out...

Luv2Roam

Well, I would say they would be in a whole lot of trouble. For example my e-mail order conformation:
Shipping Method: Standard Shipping
Quantity Item Price Item Description
-------- ----- ------- -------------------------------------------
1 25934 22.50 Disney catalog Cover Art Pin Series Set #1
Subtotal: $ 22.50
Discount: $ 15.00
Total Gift Box: $ 0.00
Total Shipping & Handling: $ 5.95
Estimated Sales Tax: $ 1.02
Grand Total Amount: $ 14.47

So, $14.47 is what I authorized and what they verified.
BUT I will say that CRO twice charged aginast my debit card earlier this year without my permission, authorization and did not notify me they did so. And they were nasty to me about it! I only figured it out when balancing my check book and wondering what the charges were!
More just to see what my rights were in general, I wrote and explained the situation to the state Attorney Genral's office. Their response: They asked me to file a formal complaint so they could investigate. But they couldn't without my complaint. As it was I was in the right.
I was nice and backed off. But making unauthorized charges is a serious offense. And I have experienced this with Disney, as many pin peope have too. It does happen.
I have also had been charged several WEEKS before the item has been shipped. That's a major no-no too. But it has happened to me just this last June. (I was getting a questionnaire on their service before I got the shipped item! )
With Disney, anything is poosible -- good and bad. ;) I learned from the CRO experience NEVER to give Disney my debit card number for anything.
It seems like when they screw up, they screw up big.
