Alright New Year New Swap!!!
Here we go:
Sign ups will be Jan 13-17. I will try to get them up by 10am pacific time that day. Then I will partner everyone up and post the first challenge Friday January 20th.
The swap will run until February 24th.
YOUR CAN WILL NEED TO BE POSTAL NO LATER THAN MARCH 2nd.
Please make sure you send your package with delivery confirmation, you will also need to PM me that number.
If you cannot adhere to the shipping guidelines I will ask that you refrain from swapping with us. A lot of time and effort goes into these and its always a shame when someone doesn't receive their package.
You will also need to check in with your partner at least once per week on the thread. And check in with me every Friday for the new challenge.
You will need to buy and decorate a gallon size paint can, in Disney style for your partner. I have found them at Michaels and smaller craft stores. I have access to clear ones I think they are $5.99 or something if you need one.
You will complete the challenges and put them in the can. I may have to do some research to find some really new stuff. These will consist of things like titles, journal boxes, decorated squares, etc. All things that you can use in your albums!
You can use carts, stamps, clip art. What ever you desire. As long as it looks good. We will go by our normal swapping guidelines for embellishment.
You are also allowed to add in extra goodies if you want. We'll keep it to a $10 maximum for store bought but you can always add more handmade if you want.
We will need an even number of people, since this will be a partner swap. We will have a questionarie to fill out so that you can get to know your partner. You will send to them and they will send to you. I encourage you to openly chat on the thread, pm, email, text, phone. Go ahead make a new friend.
We will also have a kid group :goodvibes
Please do not sign up for this swap if you can not make the deadline. Thanks!!!
One thing I forgot to mention and I apologize (note to self do not type up threads while the electrician is here :) ) is that we will limit this swap to Veteran Swappers and Swappers that are in good standing with our Swap Boards meaning that you have sent your groups in on time and your quality has been up to par. I will be checking in with the swap goddess :goodvibesA LOT of time, money and talent goes into a swap like this. If you are a newbie and interested we will do another swap similar later in the year and after you have completed 2-3 other swaps with us on time I will be more than happy to have you.
Here is examples from the last Paint Can Swap (http://s339.photobucket.com/albums/n470/kerickdj/DIsney%20Paint%20Can/) that I hosted.
You can take pics of your projects as you go or at the end. But please do not post them on the thread, part of the fun is the surprise that you get at the end. However I would like you to post pics of the can you receive and post them on the thread for us all to admire. :lovestruc
One question to you swappers: Would you prefer the Challenges every Friday or All at once?

Challenge #1:
4 Titles
Standard 8x2 topper (other sizes are okay), welded and shadowed letters, letters on squares, circles, mini tags or other shapes, a large title tag, title on a box, borders, or altered CD.
Most cans are only about 9 inches tall but you can do a larger one and place inside the can around the side. Does this make sense?
Challenge #2-Three (3) Song/Lyric/Poem/Facts/Quote: 3 layers in total and embellished.
Challenge #3- may or may not be a challenge :)
2 Sets of 4 Inchie, or Twinchies. also known as decorated squares. You can do either size or mix and match. Must be 8 total. Minimum 2 layers, this can be 2 paper layers or 1 cardstock and 1 layer of die cut, quote etc. Please embellish as you would anything else :)
Here are some examples:

http://leiradcardmakingcorner.blogspot.com/2010/02/twinchies.html
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/247322-heather55555/1380035-eeyore-twinchie/?c=t
Ok so challenge #4
6 Photo Mats you can do groups of 2, groups of 3, individuals, however you want. Make any size you like. Just make sure it is something your partner can use. and as always follow the embellish rules
Challenge #5 will be an easy one- 4 paper piecings, can be anything you want. has to be a minimum of 2 layers though as most are. :) no single layer diecuts here. :goodvibes
Challenge #6 will be a 2 page LO Kit. Everything your partner will need to make a complete 2 page 12x12 LO.
This kit will include:
1 Title, Topper or Signage
minimum 4 photo mats- can be more if your idea dictates it. any size but please note the size that the mat will hold.
1 journal spot- hidden or seen, big or small
any embellishments, ribbon, stickers, paper piecings, borders.
Basically this kit will be a complete 12x12 2 page lo in a baggie. :) It would be most helpful if you include a picture of what you think the complete LO should look like.

I'm interested in seeing the photos of the past swap but it says I need a password....
also, how do you adhere things to the cans? Do you use vinyl if you use the cricut?
This is very intriguing!

Rachal- Will there be 1 challenge a week for a total of about 6 challenges?
Also- the link you gave to the old paint can swap is a locked photobucket album.
Will we be doing Disney for the challenges or whatever our partner can use- I think I could take 50 more trips and hardly need another Disney item- maybe not that many but I have a ton, whereas I have other things I use all the time and would be more likely to use?

Errrgg!! It is now fixed. I hope. I thought I changed the setting but apparently not :confused3
I used cardstock and quick dry glue as all my scrap stuffs :)
I used vinyl for these little ones that I made for Rita
http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n470/kerickdj/ritacans.jpg
And This one I used magnet material. it was for the preschool auction.

Yes, there will be 6 challenges plus the paint can.
If you would like your stuff to be less Disney you can let your partner know. Or we can do a general theme later on too. I've done spring, summer, fall, winter, girl, boy, general and not all paint cans but they do usually have an altered item of some sort. The idea is for your partner to make things that you will specifically use a little less gerneralized that our normal swaps.
I wanna see!
Hopefully it is fixed, let me know if it isnt. :) I am running to get more cheese for dinner. should be back in about 20 mins

the best thing I found was the red tape that you find at Michaels and ACMoore, It's double sided but the roll looks red.
It's called Terrifically Tacky

Thanks for the replies! I felt silly asking about adhering things but i couldn't wrap my head around it given the roundedness of the can....
would my atg gun work? I just got one for Christmas :) If not, the terrifically tacky tape looks like fun...
I do believe I'd like in on this! This looks like great fun! The examples you posted both in the thread and in the album are just awesome!!

If you use thinner paper the ATG would probably work but if you use heavy cardstock like CM or Bazzill it won't hold.
Here is the one can I still have. I ended up purging the rest because I just didn't have enough room.

You can always play around with it. I use the clear ones so I find that the scotch quick dry works best.
I'm going to grab some of that tape next time I'm out.

Lookee at my Christmas pressies! Arent they cute! I love them and they are now holding ribbon, and brads and small embellies! Thank you Rachel!
What is the dimension of the can that we are actually going to use?
Im not too worried about decorating the can as I am what the challenges will be. My cricut sucks, I know you are all tired of hearing that but its true, but I miss playing and being creative.

Rita, will be gallon sized paint cans.
It doesn't all have to be cricut. :) Sometimes its fun to pull out the old stuff and be creative.

I would love to join this--I've never done this type of swap.
I like that I can mail it to my partner directly.
As for the challenges, I don't know if I understand that part. I would like to know exactly what the requirements are so that I'm not scrambling close to the dead line--just makes it easier for me to make sure all the requirements are met.

They aren't all going to be challenges, there may be something that you haven't dont before or aren't familiar with. But most things will be easy. You will have a whole week to complete each challenge and then a week at the end to finish up and get your can shipped out.

Favorite Disney Memory: In 2007 when I surprised my 2 daughters with a girls only trip to Disney. And my 3rd grade went on Rock n' Roll Roller Coaster and came off totally white. The staff in the gift shop looked at her and immediately gave her a "dream" reward. They gave her a staff outfit and had her working the picture machine, she rang up some sales, got a free photo of herself on the ride, and a fun certificate. Here's my questionnaire:
All Time Favorite Disney Character: It's a toss up between Mickey and Winnie the Pooh
Favorite Princess: Belle
Favorite Villain: in the parks: Captain Hook; in the movies: Scar
Favorite Hero: Sully from Monsters Inc
Favorite Animated Movie: oh my, all the Disney movies are SO GOOD. If I'd have to choose at this minute- Little Mermaid.
Favorite Non-Animated Movie: Monster's Inc, and Up...but if you are thinking Live Action then well, The Notebook
Which do you prefer Disneyland or Disneyworld: The World- only bc I've yet to experience the Land...some day!
How many times have you been to either or both: Land: 0 World: 7
First Disney Memory: this is probably tmi....but I went with my girlfriends in college for Spring Break. We went on Tower of Terror and were HORRIFIED. I ended up getting my monthly friend an hour later and to this day we all blame that ride. hahahah (I am still afraid of it but have been on twice since and haven't had the same experience)
Favorite Disney Memory: Well our whole honeymoon was fantastic but it actually has to be when we went down for a weekend in November in 2010 and we were there on such a whim (figured we had annual passes already, my birthday was coming so we went for it). We had ran to Animal Kingdom ONLY to take pictures with the fab 5 in their holiday attire, weren't going to stop to visit Pooh and friends but there was NO ONE there so we went down....on our way down the path Crystal (the best CM ever) stopped us and asked if we wanted to be in the parade. Being in the parade was fantastic but being selected like that was seriously magical. (Needless to say we spent a few more hours in AK then we expected)
Favorite Ride: I've just debated this with my DH for 15 minutes and still canNOT decide. So I'll make a list: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Peter Pan, Toy Story Mania, Soarin and the Safari
Kids: none yet but we have a cute kitty. He's a boy and his name is Carl. (he came with that name)
Girls/Boys/Ages:
List your Disney Carts: Mickey Font, Mickey and Friends, Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story, Happily Ever After, the other princess one, Pooh Font, Cars
Disney Cuttlebug Dies/Folders: none...yet. but I'm watching the clearance bin at AC Moore!
Disney Carts/Folders wish list: the 2 newish ones- the Classics and Pixar carts but can't bring myself to buy them since I've learned how to use svgs ;-)
Whats your scrap style: Disney everything. ha and glitter glitter everywhere. But seriously, I like to have a few pictures on each page and have tried to grow as a scrapper when it comes to pattern paper and texture. My work is very straight edged- as in nothing has curved edges (because I don't have those tools...yet)

Ugh....snow!! We are to get about 2" tonight then more in Saturday. I actually wouldn't mind a good storm to snow me in and allow me the time to scrap the day away! I'd need a major storm to really KEEP me in though! LOL We are due...haven't had it yet!
Question on the can...I am going to run to AC Moore and check there. Gallon plain can...and we decorate Disney style HOWEVER we want? Or, are there specific decorations...besides the obvious fitting to our partner? Also, we do the handle also? Saw some ribbons on examples. Sorry...just want to get this right since it's a first!
And, not sure if I asked earlier....are we keeping everything a surprise or are we posting pix of challenges?

Rachal - I will be gone from morning until the night tomorrow. So, I will not be able to check in on the challenge and/or partner situation until late tomorrow night. I just want you to know so you don't think I totally disappeared for the swap on the first day! We are to get snow starting midnight tomorrow through Saturday, so I will be stuck in here to work on these!! Hoping I have stuff here to get started...I'm sure! I will check in early tomorrow before heading out just in case there are any updates.

Oh no!! Sorry you are having power issues...I was wondering because you guys are getting hit pretty hard with the snow, right? I had a cup of coffee (which I generally never drink) so I'm still up...figured I'd hang out for a while and try to set up the rest of my MK swap titles in SCAL. Good luck. I'll stay on for a while and see if you get the partners posted. Will it still be tomorrow for the challenge or will you post that tonight also? I am planning to stop at AC Moore while in the area of the hospital tomorrow. I can grab some supplies then. If not, it'll work out I'm sure! :thumbsup2

Wacky on the time stamps!!
Yup, snow, ice, snow, more ice not sure when it will end. It does say that its supposed to warm up to the low 40's tomorrow. but not sure if I'll go out even then due to all the crazies that will be out since they have been stuck in the house all week. I havent even been to work, although i was expected too. EVERYTHING is shut down and roads are a mess, no one wants an apartment. :sad2:
Yup just getting ready to post partners and maybe the challenge. If i dont have to break up another kid fight. Too many days in the house....... :headache:

However you want to decorate it. But it must be in the style your partner will like. :) It will have to look nice and be something that you are proud to give as a gift. Handle/ribbon will be up to you. if it looks good and goes with your theme then for it. I turned my can into a saving for Disney bank so I didn't do ribbon on the handle.
Great question because I was just going to address that. :) You can take pics of your projects as you go or at the end. But please do not post them on the thread, part of the fun is the surprise that you get at the end. However I would like you to post pics of the can you receive and post them on the thread for us all to admire. :lovestruc

:thumbsup2 I need to get out to Tacoma to get mine. But seeing as there is too much stuff on the roads not gonna happen any time soon. Will have to get one ASAP though.

Please Embellish with. Die cuts, stickers, stickles, flock, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, additional layers of paper beyond double mats (if it would look weird trying to fit in another embellishment, specialty paper (such as embossed, glitter, Bling).

Hi
Are we allowed to ask questions of our partners such as if they are working on something in particular in their books, maybe they are lacking in pieces for Adventureland or a certain resturant?
I know that the surprise is in what they get but are wish lists ok?
I am so excited for who my partner is and hope to do a really nice job!
I think this is going to be fun and challenging!:hippie:

Start your cans too. If you want to wait and chat with your partner and get to know them more you defiantly can. Or if you already have an idea of what you want to do go with it.
I need to go get a can so mine will have to wait. Although the snow seems to be melting!! :cool1::cool1:

1. Since you've done similar swaps, do you already have a Disney paint can? If so, can you let me know the character or theme, so I can make something different?
2. Also, can give me an idea on what you are currently working on or a wish list for the titles?
Thanks!

I'm just starting on last summer's WDW trip, so I could use a lot. I joined just about every group in the AK swap, so that park is probably covered. I don't have anything for Epcot -- we did all of WS and Soarin, TT, MS, etc. I could also use items for the water parks, resort (POR), and Crystal Palace, 50's Prime Time, Ohana's (dinner --no characters), Chef Mickey's, and major attractions in MK (except those in Fantasyland) and HS.
Wow! I have a lot of scrapping to do. Hope that helps!

I did. But I have no clue as to where it is now..... I think the girls may have taken off with it. It was done in a tink theme.
2. Also, can give me an idea on what you are currently working on or a wish list for the titles?
I am actually working on our 2008 disney trip. Getting the layouts scrapped in the girls' books. I dont have anything specific right now, but I am about 4 disney trips behind including one at Christmas time
Thanks!

I have been pming with my partner and we have been getting to know one another and really looking at what we need for our scrapping which is such a joy. I love swaps but it is so nice to have something where what I get will really be what I can truly use without having to stage a photo (not that I am above doing that).

Here's pics from that trip (if you are bored/want to see the characters we met) http://dacky.shutterfly.com/945. I don't seem to have the pics on my shutterfly from the flower/garden stuff.

Hi Stephanie!
This is going to be fun! Ive always wanted an excuse to get to make something for you ever since you were my first secret santa!
I use the clipboard at preschool with the kids and every class has loved it!
This will either be really easy or really hard. We are going to the world in June of 2013 and are combining it with a cruise on the Fantasy.
I need everything, anything your heart desires to make for the World!
Now, what would you like? Do you have any other cans? If so what themes have already been done?
Are you currently working on anything? Any area your supply is lacking in?
I have an idea for the can itself but will wait to hear from you.
But want to go shopping tomorrow!:cool1::rotfl:

Hi Heidi!! Got your info...and getting started already tonight! Had a long day and ready to unwind with my Cricut! I have plans for two of the toppers, but am still undecided on the other two. Could you tell me what you are working on or you need now or will need in the future? Are there any certain meals or characters or certain activities you always are sure to do when you go to Disney? Have you scrapped all of your pictures from your Christmas trip? Anything else you are looking for that wasn't listed? Anything from any of my carts you would like that you normally don't have access to? I have Toy Story, Classics, Mickey font & Friends, Cars, Pooh, both Princess. Fire away! Can't wait!

Hey Rita! Oooh, a Disney trip and a cruise will be so much fun. I haven't done a Disney cruise (well, actually any cruise). I'm not overly fond of boats, but a Disney cruise has been tempting!!!!
No, I do not have any cans so there will be no worry of any type of duplication!!! I'm sure I'm going to love what you make!
We go to WDW a lot so I'm always needing stuff as I'm always working on Disney trips. The only thing I don't think I need are things directly related to a specific ride. Things I definitely can use are lands, park, characters, parade, fireworks, general Disney (memories, fun, etc.).

I am not sure if I did any swaps here, I was doing swaps on the cricut message board but may have done a few here just can't remember, my name is the same on both message boards. I have done several swaps with JohnsonsLoveDisney. Please don't redo the toppers your have already done. We live 2 1/2 hours from DL and have had annual passes for the last 4 years so I have a ton of pictures to do and last summer we finally spent 9 days at DW and have not even thought of starting that one yet. So anything you have done will fit some where.

I will leave the titles I have as they will all fit into your list (except maybe 1....so that one I will redo). Also, since you are AP holders, do you or have you been there for Christmas? I think that's all for now! Thanks so much!

Went and looked at my messages and I did a Disney surprise swap back in Nov. of 2009. I was not home enough to do any swaps in 2010.
I thought I saw your name come up before!! I have some good ideas from your survey answers. I think you will be happy!! I can't wait to get to know you more and create fun stuff for you! What is the best way to communicate? I am open to pretty much anything.

Halloween is one of my favorite times at DL, we have been lucky enough to go to the trick or treat parties with friends that have teenagers. This last year being one of them. I also love Christmas at DL also.
What type of Disney stuff are you working on, I have some ideas from your answers.

Great!!! I am all set then!! I have some more fun ideas! Hmmmm...having some trouble narrowing it down to the 4 toppers...you'll more than likely be getting extras! In DL Jack Skellington is more prominant at Halloween, right? Like if you had some Jack stuff, you could use it? Not trying to give away any surprises...just wanting to get an idea! Could you tell me some of the characters you have seen and need to scrap? Also, are there any meals that you did and need to scrap?
I am working on ANYTHING Disney. LOL I have so much to scrap!! But, I have taken 2 Halloween trips in the last two years and have not finished either. 2010 is started, but plenty left to scrap! Also, we took 2 Christmas trips that I have yet to finish. And, then all the other general stuff. We always do a lot of dining, so that is another option. I don't necessarily photograph the food, but often the surroundings or just group shots during the meal. (Like in Sci-Fi, for instance).

Jack starts right before halloween and is there until Jan. 1st when they take the Christmas time. Oh I can always use Jack stuff. We have had our pictures taken with him and Sally several times. We have done Goofys kitchen and Ariels grotto at Disneyland and California adventure , then at DW we went to Prime time Cafe. I am so jealous we tried to get into Sci-Fi but could not get in there. This gives me some good ideas. Now off to get started.

I have tons of Halloween Disney stuff so don't need that. We usually do the Christmas party each year (well, didn't in 2011) so can always use that. Don't go for any other holidays.
I can't wait to see the can you made. I know I'll love it!!!!
Yes, all three of us are going to WDW today, plus DS's GF. It was her birthday this past Tuesday so we are going to celebrate her birthday at Disney!!!! She's as Disney crazy as we are so she's a perfect fit.

My Birthday is March 3 and normally I celebrate it at Disneyland. Will be celebrating it there a little early this year. We are going for Feb. 29th (leap day) they are keeping Disneyland open for 24 hours, first time they have done it for the general public. Then I am off to spend my birthday with my granddaughter.
I am diabetic so I can't enjoy any of the treats anymore, I use to love the pineapple whip. Now I just enjoy Goofy's sugar free gummy candy. Disneyland does not have sugar free deserts like Disney World does.
One day I plan on being the one to take her on her first trip to DL or DW depending where they live.
Ok Erin tell me what is your favorite treat.
Do you have any plans on going to DL?

Ohhhh.....we are so close! Mine is March 15!! It'll be fun being in the park at any hour! My birthday usually gets somehow combined with a St. Patrick's Day celebration. Very Irish family!! Pineapple whip float is my fav at DW!!! I only tried it for the first time this last time, but now I'm in love!!!! Hoping you get to experience your granddaughter's first castle sighting!! :wizard:

Ooooh! Spending your b-day at Disney must be awesome! My b-day is in Feb -- right in the middle of basketball, academic tournaments, and dance recital prep, so I don't see myself celebrating it with the mouse anytime soon. Sorry Ladies!! I meant to post last night and got interupted and then again this morning. PEOPLE!! :headache:
Challenge #2- 3 Song/Lyric/Poem/Facts/Quote: 3 layers in total and embellished. No size requirements :)
You can also coordinate these to anything that you have already made or plan on making later on :)
Suggestions for embellishments include:
Die cuts, stickers, stickles, flock, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, additional layers of paper beyond double mats (if it would look weird trying to fit in another embellishment, specialty paper (such as embossed, glitter, Bling).

DD#2's birthday is Feb 20th. Next year when she turns 7 we will take a mom and me only trip to DL for it. I took DD#1 for hers when she turned 7 and I really want to continue the tradition with all of them.

Hmmmm nothing right now. I really need to look at my pics and see if there is anything I am stumped on. We do a lot of character meals, we dont ride a lot of the bigger rides just because the little ones cant. Oh and we dont usually do parades or fireworks but did do the World of Color in California Adventure at Christmas.

Okay, I have a couple of ideas sketched out, but I won't get to work on them before Sunday afternoon. DS has an academic tournament tomorrow. They usually take most of the day, and I'm pretty exhausted by the end. It's surprising how tiring it is to sit still and be quiet all day. :confused3

Today, I am going to clean (because it is in serious need), upload more photos to snapfish and maybe try to make some organizing progress. I's like to scrap tomorrow but told myself I wouldn't until I did some actual productive work in the house and accomplish something in that matter!!! Ugh! I hate housework!
finding the lyrics is what took me the longest...assembly went pretty quick!
good luck with your cleaning and organizing, I need to organize my papers and sticker folder yet again...I'm not very good about putting them back in order :confused3 think I would of learned by now to put my toys back where they belong :rotfl::rotfl:

That's all I'm worried about (well not worried but know that I will run into)...I usually look for multiple sites when doing a lyric just to compare. I'd hate to make it then find out a word or two is off. So, if 2 or 3 sites agree on the lyrics, you are pretty much good to go. But, it's finding them 3 times that's a time issue!! Thanks for the cleaning luck...wanna come help...it's just a plane ride across the country!! LOL I have the same problem with putting things away. It took me HOURS last year to organize all my scraps in binders by pattern / color. That was just that part of the supplies...well I again have a stack of scraps!! LOL I just don't put them away like I should. I do, however use them now that they are in the binders. So, that's a change and bonus from before!! But, the organization I have planned is actually more of a total overhaul!! LOL I am totally re-doing all of my tools, supplies, everything!! Right down to the furniture. So, it is a process...just hoping to start to make a dent. I have BAGS and BAGS of stuff I bought and never put away. (Obviously were not necessities!) So, those are the target today. It'll be like a shopping spree since I have no idea what is in the bags! LOL But, I have promised myself to not let it become a mess again once it is all pretty!!

I definitely should!! Don't hold your breath though...it'll be a while. I'm hoping to have it done by the time we go away in April!! :rotfl2:
My ribbon is one of the only organized things I have...it's all wrapped on cards and in boxes (like the embroidery floss boxes or jewelry supply boxes). I think that stays all organized because it's my favorite embellishment and I use it most frequently. I need it more so I keep it nice. I know that sounds backwards, but I think that's why? LOL I guess I just care more about it! It's pretty to look at in the box! :lovestruc

Erin I had my ribbon in baskets but kept forgetting what I had, that out of site out of mine thing. So I took a double curtain rod and hung the ribbon from it with a binder clip and a badge clip. Now people that don't craft think it is art and I know exactly what I have.
Ok Ladies I am off to Anaheim today, I have my i pad with me so I will try to keep up but just in case I don't get the chance I will be back on Wed. and will catch up then.

Should have all that stuff done by the end of the weekend so I can start right in on the next challenge early next week! My partner is away...so no talking right now, but I really like her!

Sheila- been super busy around here. Tomorrow is my last day at my job!! Been trying to get orders out. Need some more though. :) Trying to plan a surprise vegas trip for us adults, and DD's 6th bday party. which went from a cupcake theme to a full blown Mad Hatter-esque party. Not sure how that happened.

I've been having a ton of fun with this swap! This past weekend was completely open for me so I spent a lot of time creating items for this swap and the MK swap. I've made Lisa a few bonus pieces since I was feeling extra crafty :)
I almost have the paint can finished. I just need to work on the lid and pick up the paint can key- I forgot that when I grabbed the can...works out though, it forces me to pick up primer (since I'll be in home depot. in the paint aisle. no more avoiding.) so I can finally paint the bedroom in our lower level. The previous owner sure liked dark colors- going from dark brown to light blue- and hopefully my future scrap area! :cool1:

Hi Rachal. We've been busy, too. January used to be a slow month for us, but with 2 kids on 2 different academic teams, we've had tournaments 3 out of the 4 wkends. We have one more this Saturday and then we'll have a couple of weeks off. In addition, I've had a bad cold I just couldn't kick. I'm finally feeling better and need to get caught up with my cleaning and scrapping. I'm hoping for a more productive month than Jan.
I'm finishing up the titles right now. I have a pretty good plan for the lyrics, so they shouldn't take long. Hope to be caught up by Friday afternoon and ready for the new challenge.

Sheila - I am finding it fairly easy to do...I think because I am able to focus on one person's likes and personality. It's much easier to come up with something to fit one person than in a regular swap where your stuff needs to be general enough for several people! :thumbsup2

Welcome back Stephanie....how did the bday surprise go for DS's GF???
DS's GF was so surprised when she got back to the room the first night and the window was decorated in dinosaur's in Mickey hats. We had a little dinosaur party and then I gave her the scrapbook. She was thrilled and I got a huge hug. She had a fantastic birthday before we even left for Disney and then a great time at WDW and then her Mom surprised her with a car when we got back!!!! She will definitely remember her 17th birthday.

Good luck with the extra hours! But, like Lisa said, the extra $$ will be fun for Disney!!!!!
My favorite land/area in each park is:
MK - Fantasyland - especially Philharmagic & Pooh
Epcot - United Kingdom
DHS - Animation Studio
AK - Asia - specifically the tigers at the Maharajah Jungle Trek
As for this trip, not sure when I'll scrap it as I really want to get DS's graduation trip done first. But, for this trip, my first focus will be DS's GF's birthday party while we were there so that would be dinosaurs for the party and 'Ohanas for her birthday breakfast.
Is there anything specific you know you could use for your upcoming trip or for past trips? I'm going to be working on this over the next few days so that I can be caught up which will make it easier to stay caught up!

I just finished uploading my pix from our last trip. I have tons of Halloween pictures (since there were two trips in two years). And I see I have quite a few Alice, Hatter and White Rabbit pix. We always do the 1900 Park Faire breakfast since Alice and the Hatter are family favs. So, that along with seeing them in the park, tons of photos! I love the Nightmare theming like you (even though we don't get the actual characters in the park like in DL) also. Hope that helps! If you don't need it, great...just wanted to let you know what I had on my HUGE snapfish order! I should own stock in that company! Ugh!!!!

Ok, you asked, and this is on my bucket swap dream list, I have always wanted a set or even a couple or one of those international Mickey heads that rep each country. But I suck at the cricut and have never made them for myself. And do you remember when you made me my mice? LOVED those!

I'm glad someone is:rotfl:
This has been a busy, busy week! Lot's going on with school and the kids - fun but time consuming! Just sent my kids out the door with a 2 layer banana cake and a jello salad for tonight's band dinner.
Looking forward to working on this over the weekend!

Rita, thanks for an idea of something you can use. Anything else you really want? Or something on a Cricut cartridge (like the Mice) that you want?
As for DS's graduation trip, we were there 10 days so did everything! Besides the normal Disney themes, I know I will be doing pages in the following themes:
Mickey & Minnie (DS & his GF got Mickey & Minnie mouse ears).
Star Wars - it was Star Wars weekends both weekends we were there.
The movie "Up" as DS and his GF got the talking stuffed dog, Dug, from the movie and took turns taking care of him.
Living Seas (fishy stuff) as we got to have a behind the scenes tour of that!
Disney Quest - we spent a day there.
American Idol as DS's GF made it to the finale so she was in 2 shows that day and I have awesome pictures of her performing and of her after the show with little kids asking for her autograph.
RideMakerZ - remote control cars - DH and I both built our own remote control cars and on a few evenings we took them for a run around the lake at the hotel
Don't think you have to do any of those. I also can use lots of just Disney regular Disney stuff and park related stuff. Those are just the different things we did. And, I know I will love whatever you make!!! You are awesome!!!!!!!
I'm off to go work on things for your bucket now!

LaWanna - just wanted to update you...in case you needed other ideas...
Ugh!!!!
That made it a lot easier for me. I have toppers designed on craftroom, waiting to be cut and quotes/lyrics looked up.
The hard part is getting all the pictures printed out with out breaking you. I am so behind I am getting ready to start on our trip to Disneyland for the 50th anniversary (yes 2005). I have smaller trips that were taken after that one already done. It took me forever to print out all of the 2005 trip because there were so many pictures.

Hi all!!
Been a super busy first Saturday without a job!!! Spent the whole day with my boys. the girls went to my sisters for the night after the party. Spent the day running errands, picking up paper to do the Disney Cruise Wedding album, going with a pastel theme. I dont have enough time to order anything so have to make everything I want, hit a couple of stores for some items. Upgraded our phones for our V-day gifts, DBF finds technology romantic. :confused3 DBF bought me the B is for Boy cartridge today!! Then spent 2 hours at Lowes pricing out the upgrades for the house. We have a plan for just about everything. Now to get the bids together and get it all in place.
I am headed downstairs to work on all kinds of things I am on my second mocha for the day this time with 3 shots :)
Hope everyone is doing good on challenges. :goodvibes

congrats on the house, Rachel! have you heard of pinterest? it's dangerous for house ownership...i am constantly pinning ideas and sharing them with poor DH...:rotfl2:
I am almost finished one set of twinchies :) brainstorming the second one...
I am hoping to work on these tonight and on the MK swap but I am just pooped today. I went to the Nick Carter (from the backstreet boys haha) concert last night with girlfriends and am just exhausted! not used to staying up past 10 anymore!! One nap down and hoping that's enough!
Between these swaps and last night, I have sooo enjoyed the breaks from reality. I'd love if my disney friends could send some P&PD my way, the fam is in need of it. I have 2 of the most stubborn parents ever. My mom has a number of blockages in her heart and needs to have open heart surgery- and refuses due to them needing to break her breast bone; scares the daylights out of her. And my dad's arthritis is so severely bothering him that he couldn't even get out of the car to accompany my mom into the doctor's office for that news.....and he is refusing to go to the dr office to be sure his pain is the arthritis.......stubborn. I am ripping my hair out trying to convince them to take care of themselves....I think all that's left is P&PD.
and I offically went waaaay off topic. Sorry scrappers!

Funny, We're having those issues over here too. There was a huge argument on my front porch this morning about whose fault it was they missed the bus. Both- one who wouldn't get out of bed and the other who took to long getting her shoes on and kept saying the bus doesn't come till 940. it comes at 930. I needed a do-over day by that time.

Lisa, it better work! I don't think they want to face the consequences if it doesn't. They think I'm being terribly unfair. Their grades aren't really bad, and a lot of their friends have lower grades and never get in trouble with their parents. I just know what my kiddos are cabable of, and I expect them to live up to their potential.
What grade is Megan in? 5th or 6th? That's about the time we started having major issues with managing time and details.

Megan is in 6th grade, so first year of middle school, I'm trying to let her find her way, but its hard too sometimes. She's getting A's and B's, but "forgets" turning in her library book since they don't have a scheduled day/time and likes to procrastinate on getting any long term projects done sooner than later which drives me bonkers....get it done, then its done!
luckily Megan gets up right away in the morning so that's never been an issue, but sure that will change too as she gets older and hits the teenage sleep pattern.
Erin hope you win the twinchies battle :lmao: can just see the paper flying around the room :lmao:

I have to say, i don't have kids but work with various grade levels and time management does seem to start hitting some of them in 5th grade.....I am so very glad to not work in the middle school as I hear it gets harder on some kiddos- plus the whole hormones thing.
I have also come to a standstill on the twinchies. I have a vision to finish the one and can't seem to sit down and do it...and well, the other set has yet to be thought of! (Darn that MK swap piece that sucked the scrapping life out of me. ha)

Happy to say I got to work on this all day yesterday! My life the past week has been so choppy -- only getting small periods of time to work. Finished designing the pieces (that 3rd quote got finalized!); got everything cut, and started gluing and embellishing.
Erin - hope those inchies started behaving! They were my biggest personal challenge since I had never done them before.

Ugh....long night last night...just could not sleep. Finally went to bed at 1:00, up at 5:00 to take James for am wrestling practice (doing 2-a-days now to prep for Districts, Regionals and States), back home to the biggest and littlest dogs both going to the bathroom in the house (you may expect it from the youngest, but the 4 year old and 8 year old dog?), then getting the other two up and out the door. So, I had a cup of tea and now want a nap!! LOL Not sure that I even want to attempt the twinchies today...affraid of what may come out of it. I think they are going to be pushed to the weekend. And, I need to finish the can still...but that idea is going to turn out...I am fully confident there. Anyway, rant over...will update again after the weekend! Question on the twinchies...because they are driving me nuts...was going to push away until the weekend, but my mind is wondering...just trying to sketch some thing...
I know it is two sets of 4, equalling 8 total. Do all 4 in a set have to coordinate. In other words, can I do 2 coordinating, 3 coordinating and then another 3 or do one set of 4 and 2 sets of 2? It still equals 8. :goodvibes

Love it!!! I'm glad they liked the idea. Tell him that chatting with your disfriend in lancaster made you think of it :) haha And that you must have esp since that's coincidently the same week as an awesome scrapbooking convention! crazy how things work out so perfectly! :rotfl:
Dacky - don't stress over my inchies, I'm a simple girl :goodvibes on one of your sets I chalked the edges.
Lisa, I just finished your inchies! The second set took no time at all; I just needed to step away from the scraping for a few days :) I am so ready for the next challenge; it's snowing and DH is at basketball. Perfect reasons to relax with some hot cocoa and scrap in my pjs!

Sorry its been a crazy day. Totally spaced on what day it actually is. And the boards were not cooperating with me this morning.
Ok so challenge #4
6 Photo Mats you can do groups of 2, groups of 3, individuals, however you want. Make any size you like. Just make sure it is something your partner can use. and as always follow the embellish rules :)

I guess by scrapping I mean swapping ha. I haven't touched a book since I finished the one for our Christmas trip in November....I have 2 trips to scrap. I figure after I accumulate enough awesome swap items, I'll get on it?
I just figure pixar/flower&garden- if you can think of anything for those- awesome. If not, no worries. I have pics to scrap for every aspect of WDW :)
I have a few plans for your mats already. I found the coolest disney ribbon that I am definitely planning to use! :thumbsup2

I mostly do 4x6 5x7 but lately I've been loving the 4x4 not sure why.
I prefer double LO's but will do singles if there isnt enough pics to make a double.
How about you?

Rachal- Will we be recieving a challenge on Feb 24th? I am asking because I leave town early on the morning of the 26th and will be out of town until the 5th of March. I need to know if I need to plan to have something on hand to work on that night because I will have to mail on Saturday the 25th. I just made arrangemnts to go up and stay with my dad for his chemo treatments while mom needs to be away. If we are getting a challenge that day is there any way I could get it early so I can still mail on time?

Rebecca -- please don't worry about the deadline! If things get stressed or you need more time I am fine with getting it later. Take care of yourself and I hope all goes well with you dad. ~Lee Ann

I actually took meds and slept great! Feel much better! I have been waking up with a headache every day for months and feeling like I hadn't slept well, cranky, etc. I slept amazing last night....best in as long as I can remember. Well, I finally got my mouthguard (I grind and clench my teeth in my sleep). I put it off thinking it was expensive and wouldn't really do the trick. I feel amazing! So glad it seems to have resolved my issues! Just thought I'd share lol

I used to wear a nightguard years ago for my TMJ...they really do help, so wear it every night Erin!
Rebecca - continued prayers for your dad's treatment
