The Jolly Holiday Bakery is now open. This morning while entering the park we saw THE Oscar out front with some other CM and we asked if they were open. Not only were they open but hubby and I were the very first guests EVER!!!! Most guests were heading to Star tours so no one had really noticed they were open yet. What a great way to end our anniversary trip. This had been a trip that has been a bit odd. (we now know where the closest urgent care is.. more in the tr when we get home)

anyway they had the CM charge us a dollar so they could frame the dollar for in the back... how cool is that. a cm took our pic too!
Had the HUGE cinn roll they are the best!

I cannot wait to try this out (of course if we can get better than Nescafe for coffee..it would be even better)! but in the mean time, I would love to hear how the food was. I love the additions to the menu. So much tastiness just waiting to be sampled! popcorn::

I think it is very cool you were the first one in. And that Oscar was out front!

Ate there just around 5:30 today and watched some of the parade. The punch was good. The tomato soup was good as well, but ridiculously small for 5.49. The kids turkey sandwich was also very small, and a slice of turkey cold cut in a small bun. Nothing on it. At all. And my daughter's mac and cheese was a half-portion compared to other places we ate. My husband had the beef salad, and I just asked him how it was, and his answer was "it was OK" without much enthusiasm. Hopefully just some growing pains as it just opened.

We ate at the Village Haus less than a week after it brought out the new menu. It was AWFUL (really, really bad)!

But now I hear that people like the Village Haus, so maybe you are right about the growing pains.

Its great that folks can visit with Oscar at the Jolly Holiday Bakery until the remodel of the Carnation Cafe is complete. It will be fun to chat with him once he moves back to his 'home' to see how he compares the two.

A visit to DL is not complete without a visit with Oscar.

when we were there (at the Carnation Cafe) in August chatting with him like we like to do, he told us he would be going on a holiday soon. when we were there 3 weeks ago, we asked him how his holiday was and he told us he and his wife did not get to go because she had gotten cancer and had just had her porta cath put in for the chemotherapy. We were very sad but I showed him I have mine in from my chemotherapy, and I am doing very well, and we talked about how treatment has advanced so much and wished him all the very best for her recovery. I hope and pray for them both that she is fairing well.

we were right behind you ! we were walking with purpose to Indy at the 7am EE when I saw Oscar. We gave him a big hug and I congratulated him on his 55 years last week. He walked us arm in arm to the bakery. We didn't stay since I am not a big sweets eater.......we also forgot Indy didn't open till 8 ! Oh well.

My daughter and I ate breakfast there Friday morning (1/6). We just had muffins and coffee, but we sure enjoyed sitting in the sunshine outside and watching the people pass by.

And the ceiling inside the bakery is just GORGEOUS!!! Make sure to look up when you're inside--all the little details... lovely.

Nice to have a larger, more spacious and relaxing bakery than the previous one. :thumbsup2

Also, we saw the cutest thing outside. Mary Poppins and Bert were there greeting people as they came in, and a little "Mary Poppins" came up to them. She couldn't have been more than 7. I loved watching the interaction between the "Marys."

I wonder what the toasted cheese sandwich is like? Would it be like a grilled cheese sandwich, or toast, with some kind of cheese in it? Does anyone know? Thanks! :)

Tried it today and the line was pretty long at 4pm since it is still so new =)

We had the:

(1) Corn chowder (delicious!)--big chunks of corn with a little bit of potato. The soup was not too thick and it was really delicious w/some ground pepper! YUM. The breadstick it came with was just OK.

(2) Banana Nut Loaf--this was really tasty, but a little dry. We bought it late in the day so it may be more moist earlier on in the day. I would buy this again as a snack. YUM!

We were lucky and got to sit at the table on the verandah just beneath the two stained glass Penguins. It's such a cute place! And I loved how all the tables and chairs were new.

Today, yes 4 months plus later. The Disney Parks Blog posted about the Jolly Holiday Bakery. It includes a video of the details on the building design.

ok I looked through this whole post and didnt find what I was looking for so I thought I would share something...you can find "Abuelita" in any store that sells mexican food products...now back east if you cant find it in a store you can order it through amazon and its really cheap...but out here, out west pretty much EVERY grocery store sells it ...its a nestle based product that comes in a yellow package with a picture of a grandmother like looking woman...heres the pic of the outside of the package:
http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=6y8&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&biw=1024&bih=625&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnse&tbnid=O0BFtQZeUXgo0M:&imgrefurl=http://www.ecrater.com/p/2446809/la-abuelita-mexican-hot-cocoa&docid=fOSzPYLmTHAATM&imgurl=http://s.ecrater.com/stores/65685/4826776492daa_65685b.jpg&w=280&h=280&ei=o8ugT-nDDaSqiALL-OycAg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=94&vpy=133&dur=7023&hovh=224&hovw=224&tx=112&ty=78&sig=110836855372758136699&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=131&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:70

when you open the pkg. it it layers of this hard chocolate like baking chocolate...heres another pic:
http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=6y8&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&biw=1024&bih=625&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnse&tbnid=67KVb5Ows9ZfuM:&imgrefurl=http://tenthmusestudios.wordpress.com/tag/valentines-day/&docid=86tK-9poUFIyaM&imgurl=http://tenthmusestudios.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/abuelita.jpg&w=2048&h=3072&ei=o8ugT-nDDaSqiALL-OycAg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=432&vpy=245&dur=765&hovh=274&hovw=182&tx=119&ty=175&sig=110836855372758136699&page=1&tbnh=135&tbnw=95&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0,i:85
