Yay! Exciting new story!

For some reason I know a lot of adults who say they're never going to fly because they never have before. They're too scared. So congrats on picking up the courage! :thumbsup2 Cant wait to hear about all the magic that ensued.

Yay you started! I'm pretty sure I saw you guys.. Sunday night? coming off the bus. We'd stopped in for beignets before heading to Riverside so I was halfway through, covered with powdered sugar, and a general mess or I would've said something!

I wish Tony's was still open for breakfast; I've only been there once with my grandparents years ago but I remember the breakfast being amazing (but to an eight-year-old, anywhere with Mickey Mouse pancakes and a Lady and the Tramp statue is amazing ;)).

OHHHHHHHHH YOU SAW ME AND DIDNT SAY HELLO! YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID HELLO! My bf and I were hoping to meet a fellow Diser! We're super friendly people, I swear!

I was going to! But I was super tired and was just looking at people getting off the bus and was like 'hmm... that's a nice bag.. it looks familiar..' and I was just kind of wandering out in front of French Quarter staring at people and felt like such a creeper! And my boyfriend was kind of rushing us along so he could eat his beignets back in the room while they were still warm.

But I felt like I saw a lot of people I recognized vaguely from PTRs, but I didn't really talk to anyone? idk, it feels kind of like intruding on people's vacations? I am just really bad at social interactions (and absolutely killer at Where's Waldo, I'm good at picking people out in a crowd)!!

Haha, us too, which is why we got beignets, so I would stay awake long enough to finish up all of the nighttime routine! We really liked what we saw of French Quarter, did you like it? We walked down (and drove) and loved all the street signs/'row houses'/cobblestones. Too cute!

Cute pic! I don't think we saw Toy Story characters anywhere, but we didn't look that hard. Was it at the Christmas party?

Loved French Quarter. Super cute! We saw them at the Christmas party but then when we were in HS we saw them in the building across from Toy Story Mania, but it was Buzz and Woody. And we did see Woody and Jesse again somewhere...but I forget. :confused3 I just remember saying "oh we already have a pic with them!"

:lmao: Yes - it totally feels like I've known some of these people for a lifetime! I felt the same way (and I think my DH thought I was just a little nuts, but no more so than usual I guess, since I run into people everywhere I go according to him and my bestie) . . . I found two Disboutiquers by recognizing one of their daughters and I looked for lots of others :) Heck, look at D~ & I - we met on the Dis, we met IRL when she came to my hotel and took me to Target when I volunteered to skip my flight because I was at the Minneapolis airport and knew I could probably deliver a pattern to her in person if I did . . . now we text or call or email regularly!

Jessie was chasing Woody and causing all kinds of trouble (and holding up the line) when we saw them. They had to take them "away" and come back five minutes later to calm her down :rolleyes1 I did think it was a little crazy how they were tucked back there by the bathrooms at Splash Mountain. . . we never would have seen them back there if DH hadn't ridden SM solo!!!

Great start to your trip report!! I read your whole PTR one night when I got home from work!! So I'm very excited to hear about your trip!!

Thanks for joining! I'm hoping to have another update or two before the weekend is over!

I love your update!!!

Totally loved the hidden Mickey in the clouds - how perfect!!!

Bummer about being on the wrong side of the plane for the sunrise...

Love your POFQ pictures... I requested bldg 6... So, I am curious how you liked that location??? The good, bad, ugly???? Your room looks amazing... I can't believe I am confining myself to a room that size with my 2 teenage dds... I'll be LUCKY to make it out alive!

I know I am going to fail at the game t-shirt contest... But I will give it a vailent try. :0)

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!!! :)

D~

Well when we were lugging our luggage building six was SOOOO far away. Plus we were on the 3rd floor! :scared1: But there were buildings even further away than ours so I wasnt complaining too much.

And good luck with the daughters in that room. If they fight often you might be hiding in the bathroom the whole time. :rotfl: But the room itself was great. We had more than enough room for the little time we spent there.

Hi, I'm joining in, your trip sounds like it was a lot of fun! I was just there for a quick Christmas trip too, so I love reading TR's from around the same time! :cool1:

Great start! I was upset about being on the wrong side of the plane for sunrise too, I have to remember that for our next trip! The hidden Mickey in the clouds is adorable! And POFQ looks beautiful, I love the purple everywhere! :lovestruc

I know! I'm definitely going to remember that for the next time I fly! From what I saw it was gorgeous! And POFQ was so cute. We loved it there and would without a doubt go back!

I can't speak about the Canon, but I just got myself a Nikon Coolpix L120 and am madly in love with it. Its also not super huge, I carry an average size bag and it fits in there and is pretty reasonably priced. Target often has it on sale for $249.99.

Security was a breeze and the airport was dead! We headed to find some breakfast. McDonalds fruit and maple oatmeal, please! I found 2 hairs in it. :sad2: Thats just something I couldnt stomach regardless of how hungry I was.

Eeww! Yeah, that'd be enough to make me skip breakfast :sad2:

I took some Dramamine and just kind of chilled the whole way to Florida...but I did spy this in the clouds...

Very cool Hidden Mickey!!! Dramamine non-drowsy knocks me out and the regular doesn't... go figure :confused3

We can play a game throughout this TR, because I believe Pat wore a video game shirt just about every day, so we'll play What Video Game Shirt is Pat Wearing TODAY! :rotfl:

And also, Cannon or Nikon? I will never go to Disney again without a better camera. I saw people lugging around monsters. If they can do it, SO CAN I!

PacMan!!!!

And Nikon! I shoot a D80 and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It's a slightly older model, but that usually means you can get a great deal on it from a reputable camera shop that takes trade ins :) The D80 is actually what the photopass photographers used to use until Disney upgraded them recently. I had two different photopass guys tell me how much they missed the D80 versus the D90 because it's a good sturdy camera that is very forgiving.
My Dad shoots a D90, but only on automatic mode. It's a great camera too (newer than the D80) and does have a better video feature than the D80. He wants to upgrade to the D7000 and give me his D90 and let me sell the D80 so I can buy a new lense or two, but we'll see . . .

So is there a huge difference in your photos than photos using a point and shoot camera?

I find that I'm just not satisfied with the quality of the photos I took on my trip. Especially not the night time ones. It was very difficult to get a good night photo with my camera, which I understand might be from not using a tripod? But My bf's point and shoot camera managed to get a handful of good night shots. Camera shopping is TOUGH!

I see a huge difference between point and shoot pictures and the pictures I get on my D80. Take, for example, some of the pictures my mom took on our trip versus pictures I took at the same time. When I start to edit, I run into problems doing much of anything to her pictures and she shoots a panasonic point & shoot.
That said, I notice a difference between some of my pictures and my dad's. The difference there is that I shoot in manual (90% of the time) and he shoots in automatic, letting the camera decide the settings for the picture rather than me doing it myself. Some of your nighttime stuff, yes, it would be related to having or not having a tripod, but some of it is just being able to change your settings on a DSLR vs not on a point and shoot.

Does that help at all? There are tons and tons of online tutorials and classes, etc. that you can watch/take/do to learn how to use a DSLR in manual (learning the settings, etc) - I ended up taking a class here in Charlotte that my parents gave me as my Christmas present last year, but that was because I couldn't get much of ANYTHING done around here with my two little "helpers" - so the class was my "me" time AND my way of learning about a Digital SLR vs a Film SLR (which I used to shoot in high school and college when I was on the newspaper and yearbook staffs).

Great start! It's awesome that your flight was early. It meant you had the whole day ahead of you!

My opinion on the camera discussion: Using a DSLR is a huge commitment. You really have to enjoy taking pictures. I used a Nikon Coolpix P&S (bought the first one when my girls were infants and purchased a replacement one when they were five.) I loved the camera. It took great shots. Then, I decided I wanted to do more.

I purchased a Canon Xsi. I found that I really just wanted to carry the point and shoot in the parks at the beginning of our vacation last year. The DSLR is large. I also still didn't fully understand how to use it other than the automatic settings. Hands down, the picture quality is better on a DSLR.

Fast forward to this trip - I finally understand the manual settings and what to do to operate the DSLR. I carried it to the parks every day. I didn't use the flash 99% of the time; I swapped lenses for different occasions. I still have a lot to learn, but I wouldn't trade the quality, and I no longer am bothered by the size. (I still use my iPhone for capturing moments of our lives when I just don't have the DSLR available.)

I think the technology of the point and shoot has come a long way. If you want to be able to shove a camera in your pocket, this is the way to go. I love the new Nikon Coolpixes and have some friends who use them. If you really want to get into photography, you are ready for the DSLR.

Well I really just want better quality photo's but I'm hesitant about the size. I took a digital photography class in high school but that was awhile ago. It seems everyone who uses a DSLR loves it. I guess the only real way I'm going to know if it works for me is if I get my hands on one and try it out. My aunt actually just got one and is learning how to use it....maybe I'll go check hers out.

I saw so many people lugging around these monster cameras, I was wondering how in the world they go on rides?! :confused3 Are the a pain when it comes to rides?

I guess I'm just going to have to get my hands on my aunts camera to see what I think.

I totally carried my "monster camera" with me every day at the parks. I did NOT carry my camera bag though, because my camera bag doubles as a purse for me (I have a small backpack style bag big enough for my camera with lense and two additional lenses) and I didn't need a purse because I had my Ultimate Park Bag . . . so I'd carry the camera around my neck or occasionally on top of the stroller. I really want to get a neoprene case for my camera for exactly this reason - when I don't need my big camera bag but want some protection for my camera, kwim?
Wow! All that just to basically tell you - if you've got an Ultimate Park bag (which you do - LOVE your Santa Mickey bag!!!) I don't think it's a pain to take your UPB and your DSLR - and I'm usually wrangling two kids onto the ride as well :)

Thank you! I love my bag! D did such an awesome job! :goodvibes

Do you find that your big camera limits you at all in the parks? With so many people carrying them in the parks, I doubt there are too many limitations but that is what I'm most worried about.

I've been looking at blogs and such online basically drooling over how nice the photo quality is! I guess it's time to start camera shopping

I think when you love the camera, the size doesn't matter. I find camera bags annoyingly large. I can't find a perfect one to use as a park bag. My park bag is a Vera Bradley purse size backpack. I am able to fit my Canon, two extra lenses, and a tripod in it.

The only ride where I found the camera troublesome was TOT. I should have put it in my bag (I usually do if I am not taking pictures). Instead, I held it so it wouldn't hit me in the face on the drops.

ah, well that just gives me an excuse to buy a new Vera! :cloud9:

Well as far as camera shopping goes, I think I'm leaning towards a canon rebel T3 at this very moment. The reviews are good and I've found a few bundles that I'm looking in to.

French Quarter looks lovely! What views are available there? We really liked the streets/"interior" part of FQ but we also really enjoyed our river view at Riverside.

I liked having my camera (Canon T2i), but I definitely saw a lot of people with similar models who seemed to have no idea how to utilize them properly. I think it depends what you want to do with photography - I got my camera because I enjoy astrophotography (and that's pretty much my only background in photography) and a point and shoot doesn't work for that. There are cameras in between dSLR and point and shoot (I have something like the Canon PowerShot SX20IS, which is a little heftier than a point and shoot, and I brought both to Disney). Personally, I don't see the point of a dSLR if you don't want to put in the effort to learn beyond automatic mode, but that's a MMV point. They are deceivingly expensive (in time and money) and even then you aren't really "guaranteed" good pictures, a lot also comes from the photography/editing skills of the user too. I had a really bulky camera bag (2 lens, 2 cameras, various other 'stuff', I can find the dimensions somewhere) and didn't have a problem on any rides. It was more difficult on Space Mountain to get situated quickly but my bag fit in all rides. I'll be taking a smaller bag next time because we've learned what we do/don't need. idk, it's kind of a personal thing and I did lots of research of different levels of cameras/equipment and made sure that I was buying what I needed since money was a factor. I don't think there's a wrong choice!

I'm jealous of the ISO on the T3, but I probably will move into a new camera body in the next couple of years so I won't dwell on it too much. ;)

I wouldn't worry so much about the lens bundle. I would get the standard 18-55 and read up on lenses.

The photography forum here has wonderfully helpful people.

Hi Stephanie!! I totally agree with you on cameras. I have a Nikon Coolpix point and shoot and I think I spent more time trying to find the perfect setting than I did enjoying my surroundings. I definitely want to take a better camera next time I go. I am subbing to your thread. Can't believe we were at POFQ at the same time but never ran into each other. Space mountain is a really tiny space. I could barely situate myself before it started moving!

I've been trying to take photo's out of auto mode with my point and shoot. But I dont really see a difference in the quality. I'm ready to stop taking mediocre photo's and start learning how to take those gorgeous photo's I see other people have.

Yay you saw the castle! Isn't that the best feeling ever? I get emotional seeing it, hahaha. Such a cute photo with Donald! :cutie: I am totally getting a photo with Donald this time! I regret not stopping, but this time we are getting more character photos!

I liked Pecos Bill's when we went, but I got a burger one time, which I thought was pretty tasty. I did get the taco salad and while it was okay, I didn't really like the taco bowl either. Way too greasy and heavy! I think this trip we'll probably go there once, but otherwise definitely sticking with Cosmic Rays and finally trying out Columbia Harbor House!

Maybe I'll have to try something else at Pecos Bills. It was just an overall not good experience.

Okay - LOVE the update!!! And it sounds like you're making headway figuring out your camera needs & wants :thumbsup2

I have an observation - where are people's FEET in PP pictures? Ever notice how 99% of the time the PP Photographers crop your feet OUT of the picture? I find it VERY odd. At first, when I saw my PP pictures, I just assumed it was dumb luck. Then I saw a couple of other people's and realized they were missing feet too. Now here are yours and guess what - NO FEET!!! I know PP Photographers are given very specific instructions on how to take shots, what settings, etc. but what on earth does WDW have against feet???:confused3

Sorry Pecos Bill's wasn't to your liking. For CS at MK we really like Columbia Harbor House. We tried something new for us this trip and I was less than pleased. Cosmic Ray's is also pretty good.

Let's see - First Ride . . . I'm going to guess Big Thunder Mountain.

:rotfl2: Where were you sitting???? I wish you would have came and said hello! I swear I wouldnt have considered it stalking! :lmao:[/QUOTE]

I believe you were seated a two top right by the entrance of the dining area. Where you were seated, your view was the wall. We were seated at a four top against the wall. We were right in your line of view. I am not sure if you had just sat or not. We were at Tusker House on Tuesday morning and our ADR was when it first opened.

YES! Thats where we were sitting!! That's too funny! We had an early reservation too!

:rotfl2: I'm interested to see if he'll know them all!

I seriously have a HUGE list of things I wish I would have bought! :sad2: I'm going to make that one of my last posts actually :rotfl:

The cake was good. The taco salad was just so greasy. Maybe we'll have to try it again....but theres no rush.

I've got money that I'll know his t-shirts, too. :thumbsup2 We're a geek family ... and I'll disown my kids if they don't follow in our footsteps. :rotfl2: And I can guarantee DH will know your DF's shirts ... even if I have to sit here and ponder on it. Then he'll fuss at me for not knowing it. :lmao:

Every year I come home with a huge list. This year, I am sooo getting a D&B purse. It's a regret I have every year ... and I dwell on it, so it must mean I really want one. ;)

There's lots of good CS places in MK, so definitely don't get in a rush to try it again if you didn't care for it. I absolutely love CHH, and it will probably be where we dine at (again) in March. :goodvibes

Loved the update!!!

I am totally IN LOVE with the Donald bottom vases... After all, the Duck Butt is my favorite! :luvstruc And your picture with Donald is adorable too... He's so cute!

I wanted the Donald one, too. And when I saw it, I said to myself "I bet D will get one in March!"

I have feet in my PP pictures!

Yup - what D~ said :) Sometimes planning a dream trip can help.

We're watching DH's boss's dog while his family goes in two weeks. They're going on a cruise first and then his wife & kids will go to Disney while he does the PGA show in Orlando. What's worse is we could have been doing Disney with them while DH went to the show if his work had paid him the backpay they owe him :( I kept hoping and hoping but no such luck! :(

The crystal stores are amazing, I was surprised how many of them there are in Disney! For some reason, I remember the one in Epcot and not so much the others.

I love that your bag's strap is perfect for buttons. I hate putting them on my shirt because they always make holes but have no idea what to do with them! I need a cloth bag :) You got really great Photopass pics (we.. forgot them. So glad we forgot to order the CD)! Did you get a lot of different PP pics? I wouldn't want to pay $100+ for a lot of the same pictures.

We like the Plaza for lunch in Magic Kingdom, it's actually one of our must do reservations. Love to watch Main Street and none of the Magic Kingdom counter services have 'spoken' to us yet. Pecos Bill is definitely towards the bottom of our list.

We've never seen Pirate Goofy, or Space Chip & Dale. :guilty: We saw the girl pirate from the new movie (haven't seen the movie yet, can't recall her name) while we was waiting for TPL last May ... but once we finished, she was gone and they said it would be awhile before she'd be back. :sad2: I really wanted the kids to meet her, since they just had Pirate makeovers! Especially since they had the Limited-Time Mermaid package that DD chose. :cloud9:

The Carousel of Progress was really interesting. The song is catchy...like I said...stuck in my head the WHOLE trip!

Great report! Even with all the ride and character issues, it sounds like an awesome first day.

I love POTC, it is one of my top 10 rides at MK. I look forward to it this year as the three kids are really into the movies. At Christmas, I asked my nieces what kind of ears they wanted to get. We surfed through the online store and the oldest wanted girl pirate ears and her sister wanted pirate ears, specifically not girl ones. It will be interesting to see what they choose when we get there and they see all the other ones too! I'll have to keep my eyes open for pirate Goofy. That'll be an awesome picture!

We also love the Buzz Lightyear ride. Another top 10 for us. My DS kicked butt on that one last time. I can't wait to go. Our trip seems sooooo far away!

Love your PP pictures! I'm thinking of pre-ordering the PP CD this time. We had so many pictures taken with the castle in the background last time. They were my favourite. And the character photos they took were much better than the photos we took of DS.

First Ride!?

After lunch we headed towards my first ride! My FIRST EVER DISNEY RIDE! (For all of you who took guesses, I believe one person got it right)

MY FIRST DISNEY RIDE WAS.....

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_055-1.jpg

POTC! But on our way into the ride I saw Pirate Goofy (with barely any line) And I ran to him!

I love this ride - we always seem to get stuck on it, as well. :confused3

[Now before I show our photo let me just tell you our experience with characters, because I forgot to post this along with our Donald photo. Throughout this trip we stopped for many, many (MANY) characters! And EVERY time we'd get to the front of the line they'd go have some nut pie, or check on their mine, or go have a cookie break, or a milk break. Every. Stinkin'. Time. It became a joke of the trip.

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_31180880017.jpg

ISNT HE CUTE?!

He is so cute - we have never seen him... pirate:

[After we finally got off the ride Pat wanted to go to his favorite ride! But on our way there I saw this cuties!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_31180880030.jpg

Cute! I've never seen these guys either...

So some how we ended up going to....

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_064.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_065.jpg

And for the rest of the day I was singing "ITS A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW!!!" Ugh, I swear that song was stuck in my head the whole trip.

Ok - I will comment on this... CoP is one of my all time favorite things to do at Disney... As a matter of fact - I was just listening to that song on my way to town today (yes, I have the MK CD in my car)... I always listen to the Welcome song, CoP and Splash... LOL If I ever get in an accident, and my cd player continues to play - the EMTs are going to think I am insane... :rolleyes1 Espcially if I can't skip the Small World song.

[Then we went on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger SPIN!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_067.jpg

It was so cool. Pat was so happy with his score and then....the ride stops, the lights turn on (real dark ride killjoy) and our scores get wiped. Luckily thats around the time they took our photo!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_072.jpg

Can you just see how happy we were?? This time the wait was 10-15 minutes. UGH!

This is one of our fav rides... And I am sorry - we were just talking about this today, how we like it so much better than TSMM at DHS... DD was even saying how she didn't care if we did TSM at all - LOL I said that we had to do it, at least, once - just because we can. :thumbsup2

[After that we wanted to get some drinks and stopped at the Cheshire cat cafe.

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_077.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_078.jpg

I got a frozen lemonade and Pat got an ice coffee.

Looks delicious... Can't say I've ever been there... I just can't wait to get my cream cheese pretzel at the launching pad... :wizard:

[Next we went on Snow Whites Scary Adventure! BUT I DIDNT TAKE ANY PICS! I have no clue why! I was probably just too excited. But dont worry! We went on it other days so there will be pics then!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_080.jpg

I took a photo of this store though! LOVED IT! And I loved how the ceiling had gems sticking out of it!

Now I was starting to get tired already at this point so we started to head towards the exit. We decided to just do Space tomorrow since we'd be in MK again.

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_076.jpg

LOVED these guys!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_31180880022.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/th_31180880036.jpg

We got some PP and headed to find the boat to Fort Wilderness for our 8:30 HDDR reservations. It was about....5-5:30. Way. Too. Early.

Up Next: MY FIRST SOUVENIR!

What a great update!!!

I thought I told you about it? I thought I told everyone about it - I dream about it... I told the girls that all my snack credits will be spent on those. :rotfl2: Next time, try one - seriously... Num-ilicious...

I know what ya mean... I got the MK music and I got the holiday music CD - I listen to the Halloween parade and Hallow-Wishes all the time too... Those were probably the best purchases I made while I was there. I know it's so hard to choose, but I am glad I bought them.

UGH I want to go to MNSSHP in the WORST way! Ugh ugh ugh ugh...I should have gotten CD's!! Next time that is going to be my first purchase!

I just don't like how you fire the "gun" on TSM - my hands are always soooo sore when we are done... Where BYSRS is just a regular gun... :confused3

That was really weird. I was even actually sure how it worked at first. But once Pat figured it out it was SO much fun! In my opinion anyway. I enjoyed both of those rides equally though!

This is one of our fav rides... And I am sorry - we were just talking about this today, how we like it so much better than TSMM at DHS... DD was even saying how she didn't care if we did TSM at all - LOL I said that we had to do it, at least, once - just because we can. :thumbsup2

I like Buzz Lightyear's ride better too!!! I thought it was just me, but I should have known you'd feel the same way!

I was right with my first ride guess! Woohoo!

Sounds like a day with lots of technical difficulties. Wompwomp. When we went we got stuck on Haunted Mansion a few times. I remember being stuck by the guy screaming "GET ME OUTTA HERE!" by the bending door. It actually got kind of creepy after 10 minutes. :rotfl:

I just knew I wouldn't be alone... Maybe the girls an I won't run sooo fast to TSM, maybe we'll just take our time?? Or, gasp, not ride at all - and spend our entire morning letting them go round n' round on RnR and ToT??? LOL

Ok - are we just weird or what? My hands ache after TSM!!!!

We are weird, it probably has something to do with the vintage machines we sew on? LOL Seriously - I really enjoy the "toy" factor of TSM, but the ride vehicle that just goes from screen to screen really doesn't appeal to me... and the fact that they made no effort to hide the track/floor. And honestly, the 3D makes me a bit sick. I much prefer BLSRS, where it feels like you are flying through different galaxies...

Sorry Stephanie for getting off track in your TR. :lovestruc

:rotfl2: That is SO weird! We loved TSM! Pat couldnt stop talking about it! I liked the variety at TSM. I thought that was really fun. I got frustrated at BLSRS because I thought it was so hard to aim that gun!

SOO many tech difficulties! We got stuck on the haunted mansion then one day too. Near the bride! That wasnt so bad though because that room is my favorite! :goodvibes I LOVE THAT RIDE IN GENERAL! Thinking about the haunted mansion just makes me want to have access to it all the time! They have a boardgame....haunted mansion LIFE. I need it. Another thing I regret not buying!

Anyway...excuse the lengthiness of that....I really, really, REALLY love the haunted mansion!

I prefer TSM over BLSRS because of the way the cars move. :lmao: I never felt like I was hitting anything in BL ... but I always felt like I did well on TSM. And I hate that I have to control the car on BL (which lowers my score) and it's more jerky. Last year, I just kept moving the car to see if I could get whiplash and get an extra day out of it. :rotfl2:

I wanted to do HDDR when we went in 2008 and it was booked solid that week. I admit I was a newbie that didn't know you had to book ADRs so far in advance back then! After reading your review, I really, really want to go. Hmmm, might have to relook at my ADRs and jiggle them around again.

Penny presses! I already have the maps printed out and set aside in my planner for my DS. And I have been saving/collecting US pennies and quarters every time we travel to the states. I think I have enough that he can do 24-25 as of right now. We are definitely getting the book!

Love the pins, too cute! I am debating about getting some pins and lanyards for the DS and DNs to trade this time. My DS would probably get into it, but by DNs are too reticent to go up to someone and ask to trade a pin.

Thanks... he was sitting with me, wanting to see all the pics as I was going through the TR and I told him that we can go, but I won't go unless we fly because we'll get there in way less time than if we drive... We are in Northeastern Pa... it would take us a good 2 days to get there because of the stops we'd have to make, especially with kids.. so he said.. "ok, I'll go by plane because I REALLY want to go because of seeing those pictures":banana::yay::yay: We told him he can take his 3DS with him (or whatever game system he has at the time) and play it on the plane, he won't even know anything. And the lego shop was so fun. Lego's EVERYWHERE! :goodvibes DTD was a nice place to go for a "break" we really enjoyed it there.

First of all, DH wants to know where the gamer shirt is. :confused3

Second, totally love the update! We love EoS. The Hawaiian BBQ is my favorite sandwich!!! :cloud9:

:rotfl2: I forgot Pat wore his redbull flugtag shirt this trip. So today is not a gamer shirt day. But if you havent heard about the redbull flugtag, look it up! It's pretty cool.

YES! HAWAIIAN BBQ FAN CLUB! :goodvibes I want one right now!

Yes, DH mentioned that he thought it was a flugtag shirt. I asked what it was and he said Red Bull where they build things and try to "fly" them off a ramp ... unsuccessfully. :lmao: I remember him showing me videos after he described it.

When I saw the shirt ... I couldn't figure out what obscure game it was. And when I showed DH, he was like "That looks like a flugtag shirt, not a gaming one." :confused3
:lmao::rotfl2:

I am totally at the top of the Hawaiian BBQ fan club!!! YUM! How about you meet me there for lunch today?

Love the update! We loved Crystal Palace on our last trip. So much so, that we have it planned for breakfast our first day in March. DH loved being in the park before everyone else and took tons of photos of the castle without anyone else in them. The Pooh and Friends parade made DS's day. He was totally surprised that we said go and get in the parade. He wasn't too sure about what to do at first but then got right into it. Mickey waffles! Can't wait to eat some!

I really liked seeing your photos of DTD. I can't wait to see DTD a little better this time. Last time we went after dinner one night. If I remember correctly we were at AK that day and then went to Boma at AKL for dinner. Then we hopped a bus to DTD and looked around a bit but it started raining and we ended up running into the Lego store to get out of it. That was okay though since DS is a Legomaniac! I think we spent close to two hours in there looking at everything before finally deciding on a purchase and getting out of there. It was so far past DS's bedtime that he fell asleep on the bus on the way back to the resort! Although, that week, this was not an uncommon occurence! :) We have an afternoon planned for DTD this time and I am so looking forward to it! Can't wait to see your purchases!

Loved Pat's shirt! I knew what it was as my DH and DS watch it on TV whenever it is on!

CP for breakfast looks like lots of fun. And the food does look good.
We did DTD but I didn't realize that Stitch spit! Kinda glad I didn't notice that. Also, we didn't see the tourist family made of legos. Pretty cool.
I spy Epic Mickey in your Wii stack. We loaned ours out, but I think I want to get it back and play again - maybe the villain side.

I had to ROFL at your snowblower picture... DH just splurged this summer and got a rider mower with a snowblower attachment - wouldn't you know it, Jan is almost over and he has yet to get to use it... (ROFL - Figures...) So, it snowed about 2" the other day, and he busted out that new blower - and I took pictures too. LOL I should post them in my PTR...

Any ways... How did you know that I loved your hat??? Now I think you need one for Seb! :)

The girls and I are Mario Kart addicts... We have all these other awesome games and we never touch them because we love MK so much. Speaking of which... Hmmm... I just finished my latest project and I have no plans for this evening...

Thanks for the IRL update. :)

I have to tell you a funny story. So I was perusing the Dis and my husband wandered into the room.
"Whatcha doin?" says he
"Disney stuff" says me
He gives me a really funny look. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I looked back at the screen and see this:

Anyone else enjoying a snow day?

Love the pictures! I have owned Canon cameras for several years now and think they give one of the best pictures ever! My FIL swore by Nikon cameras when he had film cameras. He finally made the switch to digital a few years ago and was totally unhappy with his Nikon pictures compared to mine. So he now has a Canon and it looking to move up to a DSLR but can't make up his mind which one he wants. I can't wait to play with it when he does get it!

As I sit here in the land of the Great White North :rotfl: where we are due to hit a high of 9C, or 48F for those south of the border, it is currently pouring rain and melting the little snow we had. Of course, it is supposed to dip below freezing tonight, thereby making all roads and sidewalks like a skating rink. And then it is supposed to snow, so it will be really nice and slippery for those that have to drive to work tomorrow morning. It's times like that where I am glad we work out of the house!

We have been having a really strange winter here. It gets cold and we get about 2-4" of snow. That sticks around for a couple of days and then it gets warm and melts. Then it happens all again. There are so many people that are sick because of the see-sawing temperatures. I just want it to get cold and snow now so it doesn't do it when we are about to leave for WDW.:scared1: That and I hate having to constantly clean the water and mud off our dog (and walls and floor) when she comes in from outside!

My DS just walked by and noticed all the Wii games. "Look mom, someone else likes Lego Harry Potter like me". He  Lego games. We have Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Carribean for either the Wii or XBox. He also noticed Disney Universe and wants the new Disneyland one for the Kinect because "it looks cool". Haven't seen Luigi's Mansion before.

December 16th: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

So after our shopping excursion in DTD, where we purchased matching shirts, we headed towards the MONORAIL! (Pat loves the monorail.) We headed to the bathrooms to change into our new Christmassy shirts and then it was off to find the monorail.

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/067-1.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/068.jpg

Those are the only photo's from the first monorail experience. Disappointing, I know.

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/069-1.jpg

Party tickets in hand we headed into Magic Kingdom! I COULD NOT WAIT FOR THIS PARTY! IT WAS FINALLY PARTY TIME!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/072-1.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/073-1.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/076-1.jpg

I had one thing on the brain and one thing only. My only goal of this party was TO GET A PHOTO WITH THE SEVEN DWARFS!

With map in hand we headed towards the Dwarfs photo spot....Pat headed for big thunder mountain FP while I searched for the photo spot. He ended up asking where they were and we headed in that direction. We found Woody and Jessie where the dwarfs were going to be. We were talking to the CM working that line and another lady came up and said she was going to be the first in line for the dwarfs! WE WERE THEN 2ND IN LINE!!! SOOOOOO EXCITED!

We really wanted a photo with Woody but we didnt wan to lose our spot. The nice lady in front of us said she would save our spot! YAY!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/31180880049-1.jpg

At this point it was 5:30 pm and the dwarfs werent coming out until 7pm. We waited and waited and FINALLY they came...AND WE WERE 2nd IN LINE! I was so happy to get my photo taken with the dwarfs...THE ONLY PHOTO I WOULD HAVE NEEDED THE WHOLE TRIP!

I had my camera ready. My PP card ready to go! And I went to hand the card to the lady...she didnt take it just told us to get in the photo. There was no photo pass person yet! I was very upset by this. I waited in line for that long and there was no PHOTOPASS PHOTOGRAPHER!?! But we did get the photo on my camera...

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/086-1.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/080-1.jpg
Wasnt their set cute?!

To drown my sorrows of not having a bunch of dwarf photo's on my PP card..I spotted something I would not be leaving without...

Is it just me or does Disney Popcorn just taste better than any other popcorn?

We enjoyed short wait times for some rides and enjoyed just walking around. We headed towards the Haunted Mansion and stopped for some complimentary cookies and cocoa.

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/092.jpg

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/sehnekrz5/093.jpg

The cookies were SOOOO good. And what was even better was they were FREE! They were snickerdoodle cookies....AAAMAAZING!

Pats cookie description: Right between too crunchy and too chewy. Perfect consistency of a cookie. Perfect home on a snowy night cookie.

The cocoa was perfect as well. So chocolatey and delicious!

Pats cocoa description: Very chocolatey, very delicious.

After some rides and tons of cookies and hot chocolate, we headed to plop down for the Christmas parade!

Up next: My really horrible parade photo's!

You mention the popcorn ... I've only had it once, back in 2009, and I thought it was super salty and hardly edible. :crazy2: We've not attempted to waste money or snack credits on it since. But I'm glad you enjoyed it!!!! :goodvibes

My girls haven't been able to have popcorn since last August when they had braces put on. I can't wait to be able to buy them popcorn at Disney! The one is having her braces off in February. Hoping the other will have hers off by April...

I am sorry that they didn't have a photographer there. Totally stinks!! A fellow diser slipped a dwarf a beautiful ring to give his wife for Christmas. It was diamonds from the Dwarfs Mine... Just an idea for Pat if he's reading and/ or you two are going in that direction...

We had a couple of inches of snow, but now we are headed back to temps in 40s and 50s. It hasn't even been a cold winter, and I am very ready for the warmer weather again!

Great trip report, love the snowblower pick. Don't know about down your way but up around here snowblowers have had the winter pretty much off lol.

Just wanted to chime in and say good choice on the Canon. I have had a Canon DSLR for a few years now and it is a great camera.

Also I want to second what some others on here said and suggest checking out the photography threads on here. I learned so much from those on there when i was learning about my camera.

Lastly I have to say I chuckled on seeing the pic of the pressed penny machine. When we were last in Disney last Aug my 4 yr old daughter fell in love with getting pressed pennies at all the machines we saw. We even ended up getting her the book to put them in.

We actually just surprised her with news this morning that we will be taking her back this May and after she stopped jumping up and down lol, her first question was about finishing filling her penny book.:rotfl2:

You'll get a kick out of this. That is such a cute photo of you guys and the dwarfs! Sorry about a lack of PP photographers for that though! We had no PP photographers for our character meets, except for Mickey and Minnie... But we made it work!

Can't wait to read more updates. Oh! And I love that you have so many awesome Wii games. We were playing our 3DSes when we relaxed at night in the room; Super Mario 3d land is so fun!

Anyway, hope everything's going well. Can't wait to read more, and can't wait to start my own TR to help combat the post-Disney blues.

And I hear you on the finishing games thing! I'm trying to get myself to finish the latest Professor Layton (PLEASE tell me you've tried the Professor Layton games out; if you haven't you MUST, because they're amazing and my favorite!), then try out another new game I got for Christmas. It's hard to find the time though!

Yeah, that wifi was super worth it for a 6 hour flight. Made it go by so much faster. :thumbsup2 Otherwise I just sit there and keep looking at the time and get antsy!

December 16th: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

I saw this and said "Wendy don't cry." lmao, MAN I loved the Christmas party!

So very exciting that you were second to meet the Dwarfs! I can't believe that they wouldn't have a PP Photog there :confused3 the dwarfs are the most popular characters I think! But the photo from your camera is really nice!
I loved the cocoa, so very wintery and Christmassy. Great start to the party!!

Hi everyone! I'm sorry for being gone for so long...but I have some news. Neither bad nor good. Just news. Patrick and I broke up.

But please dont be sorry or upset for me because I am so happy with life right now.

NOW for the bad news...I dont think I'll be doing any more to the TR

Even though the breakup does not really upset me, I just dont feel like reliving this vacation more than necessary. :rotfl:

But I have returned to creep on all of my friends on here that I've missed. And I felt so bad for just disappearing like that, but it was a much needed little break. PLEASE forgive me for leaving you hanging for so long...if anyone is still even notices I've been gone!

Awww... I am so sorry Hun. I've been missing you and wondering where you went - I am just glad to hear from you and glad that you are OK.

I am sorry that you and Patrick broke up, but you are right - sometimes it is for the best. I am very happy to hear that you are very happy with your life right now - sometimes you just need to take stock and recenter yourself, I did the same thing when I was about your age... It was the best thing I ever did for me, and I am so thankful I did that for myself. It allowed me to open up and really see where *I* wanted to be in my life. Some time later, I met Josh - and I knew then that he was exactly that missing piece in my life.

Enjoy this time with YOU... And please check in from time to time - I've missed you around here. And I totally understand why you don't want to finish this TR... You can come hang out in mine any time - you know that. Mi TR es su TR.

ohhh I've missed these boards so much! I was so mad when we broke up because I knew I wouldnt be able to finish it! :rotfl2: Everyone was so surprised that I was devastated. I mean 4 years is a long time..but I guess since it didnt upset me that really showed it wasnt good anymore.

I finally decided to come back because I saw all the photo's of your bags you posted on your shop FB page! :rotfl: And I saw the evil queen one and I WAS SOOOO JEALOUS! So you're basically the reason I returned today!

I started your TR earlier...I'm off for more now...:surfweb:

I really hate to hear that you guys broke up (and that you won't be able to finish your TR), but I completely understand and support your decision. We have all missed you around these parts! So come and play in everyone else's TRs. You can come with us next year for our trip, okay? :lmao:

Four years is a long time ... but if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be. Better to find out now than later in life when things get more complicated (ie legal things, kids, etc.). :flower3:

Oh ... and I saw that EQ bag too. I have no clue who ordered it. :confused3

I'd been wondering what had happened to you . . .

Four years is a long time, but you are totally right, if you weren't devastated, it was for the best. I'm glad to hear you're so happy with life right now!

Please come hang out in D's TR (and mine! I promise to do another update soon . . . Did you see the last one of Finn's Pirate adventure?) . . .

I, along with the others, wondered what happened to you. I figured life must have gotten in the way. Four years is a long time to be together, but as Liddy said, better to find out now. So sorry that we won't be hearing about the rest of your trip. But I will be watching for when you start your next PTR!
