We arrived at OKW Thursday night around 9:30pm after a good flight. We forgot to bring our DME documents but that was a non-issue as they accommodated us immediately. We had less than a 5 minute wait. For the first time they substituted a Mears van for the usual DME bus. We had 9 passengers for OKW, SSR and POR and OKW was the first stop.

Check-in was easy with no line. We have a 1BR in bldg 25. Our Owner's Lockers were waiting for us in our villa.

On Friday, we had a relaxing morning, had an early lunch at Olivia's and then headed to Epcot late-afternoon to catch the 5:00pm performance of Candlelight Processional. Geena Davis was the narrator and did a good job. As always, CP is a wonderful program. We did not have the dinner package, but were able to get a great viewing spot just outside the roped area without the need to wait in line for a Stand-by seat.

After CP we headed to DD and had dinner at Earl of Sandwich. There is a 10% DVC discount, but also a 15% AAA discount for those who are AAA members. Great sandwich as always. After dinner we browsed thru a couple of stores but the crowds finally convinced us to head back to our villa.

Today we had a quick breakfast from Good's-to-Go in the villa and then went over to AK. Got into the 1:00pm show for Nemo and then walked around a bit before lunch at Flame Tree (don't forget to use your TIW card for the nice discount there).

There are a few villas with lighted decorations on the balcony, but not as many as years past - same for BCV when we left Epcot last night after CP. Our building has great golf course and water views. We enjoyed watching a river otter "fishing" in the fairway pond for about 30 minutes this morning.

Temps yesterday and today were low-mid 70's and upper 70's-low80's predicted for the next 3 days. Much better than the 16 degrees with snow on the ground we left on Thursday!

We plan to make the Merry Member Mixer on Tuesday (it is definitely planned in spite of reports to the contrary) and to the Annual Meeting on Thursday.

Here are a couple of photos of the view from our 2nd floor balcony taken a few minutes ago. The pond is where we saw the otter. Building 37 (Turtle Pond area) is across the green in the first photo.

What a neat thing to watch the otter play. Congrats on scoring a good seat at the CP without waiting in line. We used to be fans of the dinner package but prices are getting :scared1:.

Have a great time, Doc. I'll be enjoying your reports. :surfweb:

Well you can thank me for the great weather, Doc. We always go the first week in December but the last couple of years, especially last year, it was so darn cold that the outdoor holiday stuff wasn't much fun. I vowed to take a year off knowing full well that this would guarantee good weather for the week. Enjoy! Your report from the annual meeting should be interesting.

I know what you mean. We were on the Wonder last year, during this week, and it was so cold and windy all our shore excursions were cancelled.

We left an Iowa Winter for a Bahamas cruise, and in are photos, we are bundled up.

Keep that weather around for us, Doc! We arrive Tuesday for a 1 bedroom at Kidani, and hope to be at the MMM that day as well. We'll also check in at the OL meet in Epcot and maybe try to hit the last CP if it isn't too cold. We wont want to stay late Tuesday, because we are doing Wild Africa Trek early Wednesday morning. I'm looking forward to that!

I must admit, we are already missing OKW, and we haven't even arrived yet! Don't get me wrong, I love our second DVC home of AKV, but OKW is our TRUE home away from home. I like enjoying the animals on the savanna at AKV, but you can't beat the convenience of the OKW units or the OKW location.

Last night around 9pm we heard something being stuffed around our door jam. It was one of those pizza companies soliciting business so I called "Front Desk" to ask them to contact security. The comment made was "Oh, not again!"

The thing I fail to understand is why the guard gate allows these companies to enter the resort in the first place. I suppose they can always claim to be making a delivery, but surely security can do a better job checking to see what they are delivering!

This morning was our 4th day and mousekeeping was knocking on our door at 9am. They tried to enter, but the door security bar was engaged and they left - to come back an hour later (with the same result). We left the villa about 11:30 to pick up our Garden Grocer order and then went on to Epcot afterwards. (We had forgotten to place the GG order until after we arrived and today was the earliest delivery time they had available.)

At Epcot we took a walk around the park, stopping to enjoy another Voice of Liberty performance at the American Pavilion before heading to our lunch at Coral Reef. Our 41st Anniversary was a few days ago and we were both wearing our Disney Anniversary buttons. Our server offered us a Chocolate Wave as a complimentary dessert - which was delicious.

Crowds this weekend have been pretty busy. We intentionally stayed away from the MK so far since they were taping the Christmas Day Parade and Justin Bieber was around (whoever he is :teeth: ) - so we at least missed those crowds. Hopefully the crowds will be more manageable the rest of the week.

When we got back to our villa Mousekeeping had done our full clean but neglected to leave any Tide or soap replacements. No big deal, but some of the cost cutting is more noticeable compared to years-gone-by.

Temp was around 76 today with similar expected tomorrow.

Doc, I'm disappointed to hear that OKW is also having the issues with knocking housekeepers, pizza flyers, and missing replacement items. We've always found those issues at the other DVC resorts, but have never encountered them at OKW yet.

Hi Doc! We are here as well for our first stay at OKW. Loving the size of this room. We are in a 2 bedroom and it is huge. We were not as lucky with our location. We are in the hospitality area and are in the first villa with all the buses coming by. Not a good location at all but we arrived on Wednesday and I just figured that was the reason. I am not sure if we will make it to the merry mixer or not. That will be our last night and we have tea at GF at 2PM. I would like to come by if we have the time. I am loving this weather and already dreading going home. We saw Geena Davis with her family at dinner this evening in Hollywood Studios. That was our first celebrity siting here. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

The mixer doesn't end until 5pm - so even if you can't get there until after 4 you can still enjoy the event (and get the free DVC ornament).

Enjoy the rest of your stay! We've stayed in bldg 14 many times and have always enjoyed the gold course view. Be sure to check the pond for otters - we've seen them in that pond a couple of times!

I agree about building 14. As long as you aren't on the side with the entrance, it really is a great building to stay in.

Unfortunately we are probably in the worst possible room at OKW. Out the front window we view not 1 but 4 air conditioner units and the side terrace is facing the entrance so all you can hear are buses all day. It 's not going to ruin my trip but not giving me a great first impression of the resort. The weather is great and I'm at Disney so all is well.

Diane - I didn't post about some of those same issues we had when we were at OKW last month (1BR-#4625) because overall, our stay was great. Housekeeping definitely wasn't what we've experienced previously. Kitchen floor had a couple sticky spots that were still there after a full cleaning; bathroom counter & toilet weren't cleaned. When we checked in, the drain in the shower was so plugged up there was no way housekeeping could have cleaned the shower & not noticed. Overall, just not up to par. We also had a pizza flyer outside our door, something we've never had in the past. On checkout day, we left at 6 am, so no issues with knocking housekeepers. :)

Other than housekeeping, everything else about OKW was a wonderful as it's been since we started staying there in '94.

We arrive late on Saturday so I'm thinking our room won't be in an ideal location. Not going to worry about that though. Our last stay in Building 14 we had a room not near the street so all was good.

Now about those pizza flyers........ when I was at SSR last month, one started working its way through the door and I swear it scared the b-jeepers out of me. At first I thought someone was trying to break in. When I realized what it was, I wasn't happy!

(and at the Dolphin they just slide them under the door. :headache:)

I always wondered about the "security" thing! I drive up, I'm asked for my ID , yeada yada, but what happens when someone just wants to come for dinner at Olivia's, they obviously are not on "The List", I'm sure they are allowed in, aren't they? Anyone can get in by boat or bus! Not much security in that!

Doc, it was a long, hot, muggy summer! We finally have been able to open the windows and turn off the A/C's! We live again! For all of you snowbirds, this is why we gave up Newfoundland, "shovel your way into the driveway and then shovel your way back out in the morning" and moved to Florida!

Great day today!

High temp reached 81 with little wind or clouds. Beautiful blue sky was tough to take, but we managed! :)

We went to MK today, expecting the weekend crowds to be gone - but, sadly we were wrong. These have been the biggest early December crowds in over 10 years. We stayed about 3 hours and then headed back to OKW.

Since DVC has partnered with Owner's Locker, the business needs have changed (for the better) for the company. We had an opportunity to tour the potential new storage facility they are considering. It is a work in progress right now, but has great potential and is located very, very close to Disney property in a very, very convenient location. There is enough space to house both the present and future needs of Owner's Locker as well as the needs for their other division, Magic Strollers.

In a few minutes we are heading over to California Grill for dinner tonight, so we'll get a little different view of the MK! :)

Tomorrow we plan to go to the Merry Member Mixer at Epcot.

Another great day in paradise! Temp was 81 with 82 predicted for tomorrow and then a cool-down (low 70's) for Thurs/Fri/Sat.

I rode shotgun in the Owner's Locker Purple Van today. We made deliveries to OKW, SSR, CSR, BWV, VWL, CR, Jambo and Kidani. They have really gotten busy with new locker deliveries since their partnership with DVC. Both Lockers and Strollers businesses have been good.

We went to the Merry Member Mixer this afternoon. The venue this year is the pavilion between Canada and Gr. Britain. It is a great facility and the DVC crowd was the largest we have experienced for a Member Mixer over the years. We got to see several DISers enjoying the event. When leaving , we got our 2011 pewter DVC ornament to put on our tree when we get home. Outside, it was "snowing" on our way back around World Showcase - with the help of a little Disney "magic".

After the party we took a stroll around World Showcase and then headed over to BCV to catch a bus to DD for another Earl of Sandwich meal. (DVC discount is 10% or 15% for those with a AAA membership card.)

Tomorrow we plan to go to DHS for the Osborne Lights.

82 and sunny today. We had a meeting this morning and planned to head over to DHS for the Osborne lights around 4:30. The weather front passed thru around that time, the wind picked up and it started to rain. We waited awhile and started for DHS when the rain let up, but it started again while we were at the bus stop - so we just went to DD for dinner.

Tomorrow's prediction is for 69 and then back into the low 70's Friday and Saturday. We'll head over to the Annual Meeting at 2pm. Dinner will be at O'hana with friends tomorrow evening.

Hopefully we'll still get to the Osborne Lights the next few nights.

It was cool this morning, but comfortable by afternoon. High was around 70.

I got to ride on the OL Purple Van again today and made deliveries at OKW, SSR, POP, BWV, BCV, VWL, BLT, Jambo, Kidani and Marriott Cypress Garden.

We went to the DVC Annual Meeting (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2843702) today and saw Diane Schlicht and DH there. Dinner tonite was at 'Ohana with Daddio (DW and DD) and DVC Mike (DW). Great meal and even better company.

74 predicted for the next 2 days. No big plans, just enjoy WDW for a few more days before our return to reality. We visited CR, Poly and GF today to enjoy the Christmas decor. Will also get over to VWL to take in the spectacular lobby there.

More than likely, they're delivering a pizza and then delivering flyers. There's no way for the guards to do anything about this, unless they follow them in and out (and that's not going to happen).

The weather was really very nice today. High was about 74 with sunny conditions.

We went back to the MK this morning and the crowds were moderate. We were able to do a number of attractions with minimal wait times (no longer than 15 minutes) at POTC, JC, ETR and CBJ. We had lunch at Columbia Harbour House and then took a bus back to OKW.

After a short break, we headed over to DHS to see the Osborne Family Light Spectacular. We were able to get into the area at the far end of New York Street to enjoy the show by "Mulch, Sweat and Shears" and then the Osborne program started promptly at 6:00pm. As always, the lights are wonderful and the crowd responded with a unanimous "Ooh and Aah" when they began along with the snow. There are over 5 million lights this year!

Afterwards we were able to walk onto GMR followed by a 25 wait at TSM (where we ran into WebmasterKathy in the wait queue). We also took in the One Man's Dream attraction, where there have been some minor changes since our last visit.

One more day before we return to reality (where the temperatures are in the teens right now). :(

It is 64 here (going up to 75) at OKW right now and 22 (maxing out at 29) at home. :(

We are checking out today as well. Our room, 2314 has been wonderful. I love the location. We have been catching the bus at the hospitality house so that we don't have to go through the whole resort and then getting off at the first stop right by our room on the way back. I would highly recommend this building. We have had a great trip in WDW and are making our way to a 4-day cruise this afternoon. We have had no major issues and actually when my daughter got sick and all the sheets had to be taken off the bed I put them in the breezeway and housekeeping came right over and picked them up, with no complaints. It had been awhile since we stayed at our home resort and now that we have come back I am so happy we did.

However, the crowds have been somewhat busy. I can say we have seen cheerleaders on every corner. It just makes moving around more difficult to navigate with the big groups.

Yes crowds are much heavier than we expected. Cheerleaders have been challenging. Most of the groups have been respectful but a few have made the Btg look tame. Last night coming home from mk we had a group of about 30 cheering and clapping as loud add could be for 20 minutes straight. There were more than a few people angry
. At least they go home today though lol
