We're going to Disney World in January for 14 days. It's 2 adults and an 8 year old. Right now, we plan on doing 7 days in the Disney parks, trying out an airboat ride and checking out the outlets.

I'm looking for 1 or 2 other activities to round out our trip. I'd like to keep them fairly low cost (maybe no more than $20ish/person.) We're pretty open to all experiences as we always like new things and we'll have a rental car, so please help me with suggestions.

Thank you both so much! This is exactly what I was looking for! I kept googling and all I would come up with were the same big attractions.

Your congressman can arrange free passes to the Kennedy Space Center if you like. It is a bit of a drive, 45-60 mins, but will only cost you fuel and a bit of time.

We took our kids to a citrus groove to pick oranges etc and also to a candy factory........they loved it!!

I could look up the info from my old itinerary book if your interested in something like that.

I'd love to know more about the candy factory tour if you don't mind. Thanks!

Could you help with how or what the process is to do this

Email, call or write your Congressman and ask nicely. They'll take it from there.

Agree with Swilshire. Find out who your congressman is and contact the office and let them know what you are planning. They can then help you from there.

If you are a member of your local museum or science center, you might be able to get free admission to the Orlando Science Center. We did.

Bring coupons for national food chains.

If you go to Showcase of Citrus on state road 27, a bit north of 192, you can pick your own oranges, $10 per bag. It has a kitschy little gift shop as well. Fun for an afternoon.

I took my sons to new ICE last week at Gaylord palms - they loved the new Shrek theme! There's much more to do this year, we made a gingerbread house and played in the snow - my kid's first snowballs! They have a movie theater too. My friend sent me a disount code: CCACM, but you have to go to: christmasatgaylordpalms.com/chillout. The discount is only good until mid Dec but it was the best discount I found. During the week is even cheaper.

We have found some great deals for family activities on Groupon

http://www.groupon.com/orlando/

and Livingsocial

http://www.livingsocial.com/cities/75/deals/151157-local-coupon-book

You can sign up for their daily emails so you will know about their newest offers. We have seen deeply discounted costs on such things as mini golf, family fun centers, air boat rides, family photo sessions, amusement parks, bowling, swimming with manatees, and more. Most offers are at least 50% off the regular price and some up to 90% off. It might be worth signing up!
