Hi guys! :wave2:

I figured I may as well get this next TR started! I just got back yesterday and I decided that I didn't want to wait to get it started.

Some of you know me. Some of you don't. Let's change that right now, shall we?

I'm Danielle...

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20July%202011/CIMG4043.jpg

Things to know about me.

1) I love Disney

2) I love Disney

3) I love Disney

4) Clearly, from the picture above, do not give me toys at the dinner table. :rolleyes1

Okay, here's a more presentable picture....

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20July%202011/DSCN0100.jpg

This trip was born out of some pain and some sorrow. Those who followed my PTR will know what that was. The link is below in my siggie for those who are interested.

Chris, my brother and travel partner...

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20July%202011/CIMG4052.jpg

He's not a huge fan of pictures, so there aren't too many of them on this trip. He's older than I am, has a family at home with another on the way. My SIL Sara is very flexible and allowed him to go on this trip. :lmao:

I was alone for a few days, and met up with Megan (Tinkerbelluvr7) for a few of those days. It was a great DIS meet and a fun trip overall. There were ups, minor downs, lots of food, and lots of WINE!

Come along for the ride.

Okay, I always introduce most of my TR's by reminding people that I am not a morning person. In no way, no how. The only reason that I'm able to drag myself out of bed early in the morning is because I know I am going to Disney. That doesn't make my disposition cheery though. If you try to talk to me early in the morning, you will get nothing from me but a grunt. Maybe an eye roll.

I woke up at 4:30am on Saturday. I also went to bed at 11:30pm. Why? Because I'm an idiot apparently. I stayed up late the night before doing my own pedicure. Why? Because I decided to be "frugal" this time, and do my own. Okay, I don't go and get a pedicure because I want to save money, but I upgraded to Business Class? Something wrong with this picture? :rolleyes1

I also took a shower the night before. Fixed my hair and everything all pretty like. And then it just looked like this when I woke up. :scared1: You know, when his hair is standing straight up. So I had to bust out my straightener to fix my hair. D'oh! Not what I wanted to do. I think I may have singed my hair a little bit because I was so tired.....that kind of happens when you leave your straightener in your hair.....

I didn't sleep at all really. I just was too restless and excited. So, I had to layer on an extra amount of war paint that morning. Just so I didn't scare the other people in Business Class. I want to look like I belong, really.

My bags were all ready to go.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is a carryon only. I did it folks. The question is, is that what I came home with? Well, you'll just have to read to the end to know the answer to that.

I'm always sad to leave the little boogers behind.

One little booger.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/87ba8645.jpg

Two little booger(s).

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/0a797281.jpg

Yes, she is making love to my iPad in that picture. It's a mutual relationship folks, no worries.

Mom and Dad were taking me to the airport and we were on the road at about 5:30am. I had told Dad before that I wanted to stop at Dunkin' Donuts. Food at the Milwaukee Airport is the bane of my existence. In the fact that there isn't any good food really. Not in the terminal I was going to. So, I figured getting some good ol' Boston Creme donuts to take through to eat while I waited would be nice. What better way to start the eating frenzy!?

So we hit the Dunkin' Donuts around 5:45ish. We pull through. It's a fairly simple order. Two number ones, one with two long johns and an extra large coffee with cream only, one with two boston creme donuts and a regular coffee with extra cream and extra sugar, and an extra coffee with cream and sugar. Seriously, had to repeat this to the guy like 4 times. 4 times. Dude, it's donuts, not brain surgery! You best not mess up my donuts son!

As we were pulling forward, the first thing I ask my mom is "do you think he's high? Because I think he's high." Mom agreed. He had to reconfirm our order again at the window. What is this world coming to? Get with it man. You get paid to come in to work before God gets up!

Well, my boston creme beauties came through in one piece, so it's okay I suppose.

So I drink my coffee, and suddenly I'm miss chatty Cathy! It's true, everybody runs on Dunkin'!

We made it to the airport about 25 minutes after Dunkingate, so it was all good. This was so exciting for me, because I walked right in and didn't have to do anything else. I said my goodbyes and headed inside.

There were A LOT of people in the terminal. More than I thought there would be. But, I made it through security very quickly anyways. I love people that don't travel very often. They're like little cute kids to me. This lady next to me very seriously asks me "do I need to take off my scarf?" I told her that it's advised to take off anything unnecessary. I just prayed that she didn't think her shirt or pants were unnecessary.....you never know, she could be from a nudist colony.....

I made it through, no scanner, just a metal detector. Afterwards, I made my normal bio break, and then went to the gate. I popped open my bag o'donuts, and got to eatin'. It was very yummy. This is why I don't eat those often.

We boarded kind of shortly after and were on our way in no time. We were up in the air quickly. I was seated next to a woman who was actually studying for her CPA like I am! It was really nice and we actually chatted for the majority of the flight. She and her husband lived in Celebration, and he was a part time CM with Disney.

The flight was good and I fully took advantage of Business Class by having a few Bailey's and Cream. No worries folks, they're weak and I drink responsibly when I have to drive.

We landed and I was on my way. Before long, I got to take this picture.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/600c7f5c.jpg

This airport is kind of like home to me. Then it was off to the rental car counter. I'll leave you there. Sorry this is not picture heavy, but I like to get the travel portion out of the way since it's a little dull.

Up Next: Megan and Danielle meet!

Yay update!

I think cheap-o pedicure and business class is definitely the correct order! I mean, you got Bailey's! Totally worth it AND saving money.

Our cats love our iPad too! We have the Bebot app, which makes noises when you tap the screen and they love ("love") when they get to play with it. Your dog is adorable!

I love the inside of the Orlando airport. A hotel inside of an airport?? Wacky!

I'm glad that it made sense to someone! At least you get it. You're right, we can be illogical weirdos together!

Thanks! My first booger's name is Nanook, and she's a handful. She does love snow, so I could see that being in warm weather all the time might not be ideal. She does seem to melt in the heat a bit. She's a pansy like that.

I understand about being tired in the morning. Even if I am going to Disney I'm still quite sluggish!
I HAVE THAT CHRISTMAS BLANKET THAT YOUR DOG IS LAYING ON!!!
LOL Dunkin Donuts. My Dad LOVES the coffee from there. He also takes home A LOT of their napkins. All the time. I don't think we actually buy napkins for our house anymore because we have so many from Dunkin Donuts. :lmao:
DONUTS. I literally don't remember the last time I've had one. :sad1:

Well now that you've got the obligatory "travel post" up, we can get to the good stuff - a semi-solo trip with a brother thrown in at the end! :) I am also not a morning person - unless I'm going to Disney. That being said, I am also not a coffee drinker. However, on our trip, I drank a few Diet Cokes and felt the buzz for awhile after - I stopped drinking soda and switched to green tea a few months ago, and anytime I get some Diet Coke in me, the caffeine is OBVIOUS, very quickly!

That's so nice you upgraded to Business Class. Makes the flight better. I loved my premium seating on our trip; I felt like I had so much room!!

And I am planning on renting a car on my solo trip; I'm going to do that trip on the cheap, so I would use my credit card points and not have to worry about the extra cost (minus the full tank of gas, of course). Do you use it to get to the parks, or for DTD, or do you mostly use the Disney buses?

Man, I love coffee! I am one of those people that caffiene does absolutely NOTHING to. I can drink it and go straight to sleep. No problems there. Coffee just makes me happy. :goodvibes

I love Business Class. I admit, I'm a spoiled brat with that. I don't always upgrade, but I love when I get the option.

I do use it to get to the parks and DTD. Especially to go to DTD. I have having to take the bus there. The only park I don't drive to is the Magic Kingdom. I just don't love parking and having to ride the monorail. It depends though. I tend not to drive in the afternoon to go to a park. Only in the morning when I can get decent parking.

Lol at the morning scenario - I can totally relate!

That guy at Dunkin' was crazy! I didn't think it would be that difficult to order donuts and coffee. It's not like I asked him to make a special donut or anything. :lmao:

I know, Bailey's just tastes good. It's completely useless as an alcohol.

Oh my gosh! I missed the start of your TR! It sounds like a good travel day, barring the wacky DD guy! Do you suppose his ability to perform his duties is the reason he's been relegated to working at DD at 5 am? :lmao::lmao:

LOVE the frugal pedi/business class thing!! That's totally something I would do!!!

That is infallible logic there with the DD guy. That is probably exactly the reason that he works that early.

I'm so glad everyone agrees on the cheap pedi thing. I like my upgrades! ;)

Can't wait to read all about your trip!

Thanks! Glad you're following along on this one too. :goodvibes

First, I don't think I could ever control myself enough to stuff everything I usually pack into a carry on. Maybe that's why we decide to drive all the time.
Also, your animals are adorable.

I am definitely one of those people that you have to leave alone for about 15 minutes in the morning. I have to wake up before I want anyone to talk to me. Otherwise the crab will come out.

!! I didn't see that your dog was on a castle blanket. You're so lucky to have three of them; it's my one must-buy souvenir (though if it's the spend $xx and get $xx off, it may come home with some friends) for our trip.

Aw, I am a morning person in that I wake up really fast (usually at the same time, yay for schedules and not needing an alarm. I usually have to wake up my boyfriend!). It's a self preservation thing after years and years of bossy cats. ;) I wish I could sleep in late, especially on weekends.

My first booger's name is Nanook, and she's a handful.

OMG, I love that her name is Nanook. That is totally awesome. I love the Lost Boys and I begged my parents for an Alaskan Malamute named Nanook.

They changed the castle blankets a little this year! They're just the castle now, not with the dream lights. Unless they hadn't put the dream lights ones out yet, but I was a little sad.

I am a sleeper. I get that from my dad. We can sleep forever. I don't like to though, because it makes me groggy and I feel like I've wasted so much time.

Aw, I thought the blankets with the dream lights were very cool - I can't even imagine the blanket without them. I waffled on buying one last year and now wish I had. I bet the cat just would have ended up with it, though.

I'm a big fan of napping. I especially love spring and fall naps. But every so often, I'll take a nice nap and then wake up feeling like I came down with a nasty case of the flu. I can't wake up, I feel sick and disoriented, I'm still so tired I can't hardly lift my head; it's awful! Probably once out of every 5-6 naps I take, this happens. But I love the GOOD naps, so I still take them.

Ok, enough about naps - what about DISNEY? :yay:

I'm here, a little late, but here!

I totally relate about the not being a morning person thing! I always say that I'm a skilled sleeper...I'm really good at it! :rotfl: After having done an early-morning-departure trip now, I have to say I very much favor the late-evening travel time we usually have.

We have that castle dream lights blanket on our couch right now! Love it!

Nanook looks adorable all curled up in that pic. Is the skunk smell all gone now?

I have something that Tigger might like. We heard about this and tried it with Kitty (who doesn't have any particular interest in the iPad) and she had a blast! Go to this site: http://gamesforcats.com/ Kitty played the fishing game and was pouncing on the fish...very cool! It looks like there are some more games available now.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

We left off with me arriving in Orlando and getting my car from the rental company. It was off to the World for me!!!

This is where I love my new phone and the talk to text feature. I was able to communicate with mom and Megan on my drive in. Very handy that I don't need to do anything but talk into the phone to send a text message.

Very soon, I was arriving here!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/63cba1b1.jpg

I made really good time and pulled into Caribbean Beach. I pulled in at the Custom's House and headed over. Megan was waiting for me outside! :cool1: And guess what I didn't get? A picture of our first meet! Epic fail! :rotfl2:

After we got that out of the way, we headed in to get me checked in. I was hoping that I would be able to get my requests. Let's see shall we?

The lobby was pretty busy, but we didn't wait in line for too long. I got up to the CM and advised them of the room requests that I had sent. He called to see what he could do, but told me that since the reservation was made with DVC, they would not be able to move me out of a pirate room. :confused3 Even though technically I would be downgraded? Someone asks for a downgrade and they don't want to give it to me?

The funny thing was, I told him my concerns, and he told me that if I wasn't happy, to come back and they'd see what they could do. So, you can't switch me now, but if I'm irritated, you will change it? I accepted it, because I figured I couldn't judge the room until I saw it.

Megan and I headed out and grabbed our respective cars to get to my building. Building 35 in Trinidad South. Boy, it was far away! The drive even seemed to take some time. Thank goodness for a rental car!

We both pulled in and I unloaded. I was on the 2nd floor. The room's location was pretty decent. And here's what I saw when we went in.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/60e46538.jpg

Pretty cool. But the coup de grace was to come.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the mattress on the bed. And my hand. No, I do not have obnoxiously large hands....

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/60b73320.jpg

All of the reports are indeed correct. It is not a full mattress. It's like a mattress pad. The true test would come later though. What would happen when I slept on it? We'll have to see...

I changed quickly, because dangit, I was hungry! Megan was too, she had been going since an early time as well. Donuts don't last too long in your tummy, that's for sure. Megan and I decided to eat at Old Port Royale.

I got.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/be3567b0.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/407a1640.jpg

It's a chicken sandwich and cheesecake. The chicken sandwich was actually pretty good. Megan got pizza, salad, carrot cake and water. We chatted while we ate and found that our families are very similar, which is cool. Our dads seem to be alike and we are too. Always a good sign!

After lunch, it was time to head out to DHS. Megan got us some fastpasses for TSM, and there was NO way those were going to waste. We drove over in Megan's car. Clearly, we broke Megan's no driving rule....

We drove over. And got sent down a brand new row for parking. That ALWAYS happens to me. D'oh.

We took a tram to the entrance, which is another thing I don't normally do. But we were pretty far in the lot and the tram had just arrived. Once inside, we decided that our first stop would be ToT. I'm a crackhead with my app for Disney and was checking the posted times pretty frequently. ToT was posted at 10 minutes. Score! And, it was actually more like walk on, not a wait at all.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/2a53406f.jpg

On top of it being a short wait, our elevator wasn't even full. Is someone trying to tell me something??.....

After we survived our plummet, we checked our Rockin' Roller Coaster, but the wait time was posted at 45 minutes. We decided to skip that. We also checked out Star Tours, but the wait was 35 minutes. We didn't want to wait too long, because our TSM fastpasses were coming up soon.

Well, if all else fails in DHS, where do you go?

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/bf73cd32.jpg

Where the ending is "a glorious three hour finale celebrating all countries, but mostly America".

Can you tell I love this attraction? I am so excited about the Muppet Movie. Completely stoked!

I had to get into character. What do you think, is it me?

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/b94c6022.jpg

You know you like it. You know you're thinking it would be totally awesome to own one.

Admit it.

I dare you.

It was time for our fastpasses now. So we started heading over to TSM.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/080d9ec6.jpg

Do you notice that? Unheard of. It's 3pm and the wait time is only 40 minutes. I don't think I've ever seen that!

We went in, and the CM was so funny. She looks at us and says "you guys know what you're doing, huh?" That was because Megan's FP had a return of 9am, and mine had a return of 3pm. Yup, we know what we're doing.

Here are our scores.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/c2c4bbdd.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/495b2b60.jpg

Who do you think won? I'll take votes. :rolleyes1

After that, we decided that we would both head back to our respective resorts. We were going to spend the evening in the MK, so we wanted to get some rest first. Not before I had to make a stop though. I wanted to go to....

Starring Rolls. It was calling my name. That butterfinger cupcake. The one I've never eaten. The one I've heard so much about. The one that would send me into a food coma for sure.

We headed in. There was a small line. There was one left in the case...The guy in front of me was contemplating his choices.

I grabbed him by the collar and say in his ear "that is my butterfinger cupcake. If you select that, you will regret it. You will lose all memory. Don't you take my cupcake!"

Well, I didn't really do that. But I was tempted to. You didn't really think I said that, did you? :rolleyes1

It's so beautiful.....

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/8fc37ee2.jpg

Wipe that drool off your chin, your computer, your table, your lap. I know it's an involuntary reaction.

I took that baby back to my room to enjoy as a snacky before my nappy. I hopped a bus back and Megan drove her car. It was time for a snooze and the true test of the bed. It will all be known now.

Up next: How's the bed?

I hadn't heard that they were reluctant. Jason Segal actually wrote it too. He's a HUGE Muppet fan apparently.

The mattress is only in the Pirate rooms, because apparently the bed is designed differently and can't hold a normal mattress.

Oh my, that is a very thin mattress. I'm definitely wondering how it slept - if you go through all the expense of building rooms like that and no one wants to stay there because they can't sleep, that probably isn't the best use of your money, Disney... just saying. ;)

Nice to see a fellow bed-bug checker. I never did it until I met DBF, and now I'll always do it at every hotel I go to, no matter where.

But going back to the room - that pirate room is actually pretty cool, if you ignore the mattress (still waiting to see how it slept, though...). The barrel, and the chest, and the bed are very neat!! What a fun place to stay!

I'm so jealous you're heading back next month - I'm still fighting myself over when my solo trip and when DBFs and my "long trip" will be. I told him he had until the first week of December to decide if he wanted to go in April, otherwise we were going in September (of course, I still haven't completely gotten November out of my head, but my AP expires in October, so I'm money-conscious right now). We'll see what happens!

Yay for meeting Megan finally, but can't believe you didn't get a picture! :scared1:

The pirate room looks awesome, but those mattresses look horrible! I can't believe Disney thinks those are acceptable! :sad2:

Other than the whole 1/2 mattress thing, the rooms were actually really cool. I loved the theming and the boxes that the TV was on had HUGE drawers. I was so happy about that.

Haha, you're so funny fighting with yourself over when you're going to go. You'll figure it out soon. I have faith. ;)

The pirate rooms look really cool!! But I mean if the bed is bad.... ew. What a let down. They need to fix that ASAP! I'm sorry they didn't just fulfill your request. Like... what's up with that?! :confused3 Check in can be so stressful.
I LOVE THE MUPPETS HAT! It's so you, dahhh-ling.
That cupcake looks DELICIOUS! Yum I want a red velvet one SO BAD. Only... 30 DAYS!!!!!
Sounds like you had a nice morning! Can't wait to hear more!

I was really surprised that they weren't willing to give me a downgrade. Like, I'm not asking to be put into a suite or something, I'm asking to get a technically cheaper room than was booked. It's the one drawback to DVC apparently. Oh well. Not going to trade in DVC for that minor of a thing.

I so want the hat. I should have gotten it. So now we know what will be on my list for my New Year's trip.

Yay, 30 days until you can eat a cupcake! Only a few more for me! :yay:

LOL on the bed bug check! I do that with every hotel I stay at. :P

I love the Animal hat! Did you get it? Ok, I will admit I want one. I am also crazy craving a Butterfinger Cupcake right now. I can't believe I didn't try one when I was out there. :sad2:

Looking forward to reading more!

I never used to do the bed bug check until it started going around.

I didn't get the hat! I was actually going to get the Kermit one, but I completely forgot! It's on my list for my New Year's trip.

This was my first Butterfinger cupcake experience. It was everything that I expected it to be...

Love the hat AND the butterfinger cupcake.

The pirate room actually looks pretty cool but what's up with just a mattress pad?????

The pad apparently is supposed to be because of the design of the beds. The part that irked me the most is that the CM's have NO idea that's what it's like. They're all "no, they're normal double beds..."

OMG that cupcake is huge. Please tell me it was as good as it looks.

It was as good as it looks. It was two tasty snacks for me because it was so flippin' huge.

Yay for arriving at the resort and meeting Megan!

Wow, only 40 minutes for TSM-that is pretty unusual. I am not a huge Muppets fan but I kind of want to see the movie. Mostly because of the new Toy Story short before it. haha

Mmm, love that cupcake!

I want to see the new Toy Story short too! I'm super excited about that.

I can't believe I didn't either! Ding dong!

The sad part about the bed, like I mentioned above, is the fact that the CM's seem to have no idea about the fact that the beds are that way.

You definitely have to get the cupcake on your next trip. So worth it.

Hahaha, I'll put everyone out of their misery about the mattresses soon. I promise.

DHS was a great way to start the trip. It was very nice to have the fastpasses already. Megan was awesome in securing those ahead of time.

Oh no! They better release a lights version of the blanket. Don't they realize that this is the one chance they have of getting me to buy a souvenir??

You know, that mattress doesn't look that bad! I can sleep on anything though; I went through an interior design phase when I was younger and had to sleep on the floor for most of a summer. I can sleep pretty much anywhere now ;) I wonder who made that decision - would it have been difficult to make the bed sides 2" higher? It's a cute room otherwise!

I am so not a fancy eater - that sandwich and fries (mostly the fries, I must admit) look delicious to me. And the cupcake. I hate being in line when there's only one of something left. It's so nervewracking!

I was reading the thread on the theme parks board about how the Muppets was out of style and I was like, according to whom?. I thought EVERYONE loved the Muppets. There's approximately a million of them, so there should be at least one for everyone! And then it hit me - Are there really people who don't watch The Muppet Christmas Carol?? That's a key part of our Christmas preparations! Sometimes I just don't understand people.

I don't think the Muppets are out of style at all. I just don't get people. Why wouldn't you love something that's so harmless and fun. My personal favorite is Muppet Treasure Island. I mean come on. To me it doesn't get any better than that. "Billy Bones!"

So I was on my way back to Caribbean Beach hoping to get some rest on the notorious half a mattress. Yes ladies and gentlemen, it has gained notoriety. I decided to hop off the bus at Old Port Royale. First because I wanted to get my mug and fill it, and second because I wanted to see how long the walk was back from there to Trinidad South.

That was the last time I took the walk.

Honestly, it wasn't that far, but taking the car was just so much easier. Plus, I felt like a complete idiot when I left Old Port Royale and couldn't figure out which way was the best way back. So I asked the CM who does the hair wraps, and even SHE looked at me like I was an idiot.

Listen, it's not like the pathway was lit up with lights announcing "THIS WAY BACK TO TRINIDAD SOUTH". I had a hard enough time getting out of the Pirate Pool Area.

Which I failed to get pictures of really. Epic fail, sorry.

I did get these pretty pictures though.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/cf2511d9.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/5d6874e9.jpg

I finally got back to my room. Cut open that beautiful cupcake...

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d18ac9df.jpg

That was heavenly. I was only able to eat half though. It was just too much!

I then hunkered down for a nap. I napped for about two hours. My verdict on the half a mattress.

It was bizarre. I was expecting to hate it, but I didn't. I could clearly tell that it wasn't a full mattress, but it wasn't so bad. It was firm, but I'm not against firm. I actually liked it better than the beds at POP. Not better than the other beds though (like DVC, etc). See, my problem with the beds at POP is that they are inconsistent (to me). There are parts that are firm and parts that are soft, and it makes for a weird sleep for me. This was a little easier. I made up my mind at that point. I wouldn't be requesting a room change. I could deal with the distance to the food court with the car.

I got up around 6pm and unpacked my items. I had held off, because I didn't know how I would feel about the bed. Since I made my decision, I felt that I could unpack successfully.

I was ready to head out at about 6:30pm. The temperature had cooled off a bit, so I was wearing a hoodie. Boo. I took the bus to the Magic Kingdom instead of the car. I don't like to drive to the Magic Kingdom. It just feels like so much of a hassle with parking and then getting on the monorail.

The ride was nice and uneventful. I didn't feel too strange being alone, although some people kind of look at you like you're a leper. But I feel that people who are going to do that will do it regardless of the situation.

I texted Megan when I arrived, and she said she was a few minutes out. She had a delay because they had to load a wheelchair. No biggie.

I decided to get my picture taken with the Photopass photographer at the front of the park while I waited. I don't have those yet. I'll probably add those at the end. I'll explain why later if I can succeed with my plan.

This whole thing was hilarious. I was waiting behind a family and then there was a family behind me. So the family in front of me goes and then the family behind me start proclaiming, "oh we're next, honey we're next". Ummmm.....

So the other family leaves and I very quietly start walking up to the PP and give her my card. To which the mother of the family behind me says in the most disgusted voice "oh, I guess we're NOT next".

 Lady, you knew darn well I was standing in front of you. Just because I'm by myself, doesn't mean that I'm just standing there for no reason. Also, I'm 5'10", white as a ghost, with almost black hair. You can't miss me. Don't even play that.

So the PP was too funny, and she's like, "just you?" I explained yes, just me. She had a mini photo shoot with me taking her time. I could say Digusto-mom over to the right of me getting more irritated. Whatever lady. I'm in Disney just like you are.

Anywho, that was a huge sidenote. I also found out what I love most.

My iPhone 4S. Seriously, want to marry this phone. Why? Because it can do so many things, like take pictures like this.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/5d7a0e78.jpg

You will continue to see the pure awesomeness of this phone throughout the night and the rest of the trip. Plus, with Siri giving you the answers you want, why would you want to get married, when you could get a response back from your husband that you DON'T want?!

Megan finally arrived. Yay! We headed in and we had perfect timing for the castle lighting. These were taken with what I will now refer to as the White Goddess, or WG.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/24fda33f.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/4b2a1531.jpg

After the lighting, we were HONGRY! No, not hungry, HONGRY. It's a little more serious when it's said like that....

It was pretty busy there, but the line went really fast. I tried to be naughty and completely skip the line that was set up, because I wasn't paying attention, but Megan reeled me in.

We both ordered the new Salmon Platter, which was super yummy.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/36c582cc.jpg

It is such a nice alternative to the normal fare that you get. It didn't overfill me and I was able to actually eat my dessert and not feel like I was going to explode. My dessert (which for some reason I don't have a picture of), is the chocolate death bomb, I mean cake.

After that, we were right by the Haunted Mansion, so we headed over. Still my favorite. I love the new effects at the end of the ride.

After that, we noticed that there were some pretty hefty wait times for some of the rides. Due to the chilliness, we decided we would not be riding Splash. We decided on the Jungle Cruise. There was no wait time posted.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/096f0bd9.jpg

Take note, that girl was the LAMEST JC skipper EVER! She was so deadpan in her delivery. Maybe that was her thing, but it just wasn't working. So my last two experiences on JC consisted of the screamer in July (ugh, I cringe just thinking about that chick), to Dully McDullerson. Not encouraging.

After this it was off to Pirates. I joked that I needed to buy some Pirate toys, just so I could pose on my bed back at the room.

No, I didn't buy any.....

WG was able to produce these beauties.

See what I mean? I'm in love ya'll.

After that we decided to head over to BTMRR. You see, our logic was that MSEP was going on, so there wouldn't be a long line. We were correct in our assumption.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/a5e4719c.jpg

This is a little grainier, because that's taken with the lens on the front of the phone. Not as good as the one on the back.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/46f5acf4.jpg

We were cold!

We had good timing for the fireworks in Fantasyland. I took some pictures with WG. I'll only post a few. However, I will say, Megan and I noticed something was wrong. The fireworks were off. Like, it didn't do the finale or anything. It was bizarre.

Oh, in case you've never watched the fireworks in Fantasyland, you have to do this ridiculous jumping around, because the fireworks are taking off in all sorts of directions. "The Castle!.....Behind you!....No over there!" You seriously feel like a huge dee dee dee, because it's like you're leaping in circles. Not preferred, but okay for me who's seen the show many times.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/52dc0503.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/4f385dc7.jpg

The only other problem that you have is that since you seem "closer" to the fireworks, you see the smoke (as evident in my pictures).

So, we were letdown because the fireworks were off. So what do you do?

Ride Dumbo of course!

Then it was off to my personal favorite.

Who doesn't love it when Donald does ridiculous things? Like this...

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/f13af3a0.jpg

After that, it was off to what we decided would be our final ride of the night.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/0d6584d9.jpg

Where else would I get a fabulous picture of my feet? Of course, the Peoplemover!

One our way out, we stumbled upon the second showing of MSEP.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/51ec5492.jpg

Megan wanted to stop at the Main Street Bakery on the way out to get a Cinnamon roll for her breakfast. And I was tempted. I gave in to the peer pressure. I couldn't resist........no matter how hard I tried....

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/37489c29.jpg

What in tarnation!? It's a mutated ice cream sandwich! I mean, I knew it would be big, but this is like GINORMOUS! I feel like Alice who just drank the drink me stuff. Like I've shrunk or something....

I only ate half of it. Caution to all you DISers out there who want to get one. Make sure you have someone with you who could eat it. It felt like such a waste. We parted ways at the bus stop. Mine came right away and Megan said hers came shortly after mine.

The ride back was hilarious, because all of the kiddos on the bus were PASSED out. Like, no moving them. Poor kiddos.

I got back to the room around 12:30am and stayed up for a little while to write about the trip. I didn't get very far though since I was so tired.

It was sweet dreams for me on the half a mattress after that.

Up next: Man, I'm getting chased by a Dinosaur AGAIN?!

No worries about getting lost at the Caribbean. That is the most confusing resort I've stayed in, IMO. And I'm glad you liked the Pirates room! Firm beds are nice sometimes... as long as they're firm, not hard.

Believe me, I was amazed at the pictures it was able to produce as well. I always had my Nikon with me to take pictures actually on rides, since the phone doesn't have a strap and there is NO WAY I am risking losing that bad boy.

Glad you ended up liking your Pirate room, but now you have me all nervous about the beds at Pop! Ah, that's ok, I survived a week in ASMu, I'm sure I can survive 4 nights at Pop!

Looks like you and Megan had fun in MK! Your phone does take some great pics! I only have the Iphone 4, but I think my phone does a pretty good job! I'm holding out for the Iphone 5, have you seen previews for that thing? :scared1: It's so thin, and it projects a keyboard on to whatever surface you want to type on...like a full size keyboard, but it's a projection! I hope they hurry up with it!

Don't worry too much about the beds at POP. They're not bad. Not preferred for me, but most hotel beds are not preferred for me either, so I am biased in my opinion. I just really like my own bed.

Starring Rolls is only open until 4pm. I got that cupcake around 3:30pm. Amazing, right?

Doesn't it seem like all TR's have a part about someone saying something stupid? I just don't seem to understand people anymore. They act like they are so entitled now, and that the whole world revolves around them. And you know what I think is sad? People are teaching their kids that too. So it's only going to continue being that way. I have a pretty crazy story later in the TR that just shows how absolutely impatient people are now. I couldn't believe it myself. Like their time is more valuable than everyone else's....

I've heard mixed stories about the 5. I've heard yours, that it's going to be crazy insane, and then I've heard that it's not going to be much different than the 4s. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Sounds like you and Megan had a great evening! I am blown away at how amazing those pics are! now I'm kicking myself that I didn't get the iPhone 4S:scared1:

We did have a great time. I was so happy with the quality of the pictures. I used it for the rest of the trip. Made things so much easier. Did you get a different phone instead, or are you just waiting?

Glad the bed worked out okay for you! I agree, I'm really spoiled by my own bed, so nothing can compare. I do think the beds at Pop are just fine, though. Not mine, but not bad.

That's so weird about the lady behind you in the Photopass line! How did she not realize she was in line behind you? :confused3 Odd. And why be rude about it when she clearly was wrong?

Those are pretty nice iPhone 4s pics! Dug has the 3gs and it doesn't compare (no flash). I shouldn't show him this...he doesn't need even more incentive to get a new phone! :rotfl:

I never thought about what it would be like to watch the fireworks from Fantasyland. That would be tricky!

Great pics on your walk back to your room! :thumbsup2 Wow I wasn't expecting a positive review of the half matress but I'm glad you could live with it for your stay

OMG on the way that lady acted in the PP queue...there was no need for it

The photos from your iphone 4S look awesome! You sure got a lot done at MK - a shame the fireworks did not have a finale.

Mmm that ice cream cookie sandwich is bringing back memories!

I am not due for an iphone upgrade in like forever - but I can't wait to have my very own Siri. I never get a good picture in POC and look what she did. Nice!

The lady in the PP sounds just terribly rude and I'm glad the photographer gave you a regular photo shoot.

Where did you get that Salmon? Was that at Columbia Harbor House? It looks so good. I love salmon.

So glad the mattress worked for you. I actually like Trinidad South. It's like its own resort. Having the car definitely helps!

The lady was totally weird. I was so confused that she didn't see me standing there the entire time. They even lined up behind me. :confused3

Oooohhh, don't show Dug the pictures then. That would probably throw him over the edge with getting the 4s.

I felt like I'd been waiting forever for an upgrade, so this felt like it was so overdue. Honestly, it was the POC picture that made me go WHAT?! But it's a PHONE!?

The salmon is from CHH. It was so yummy and a great option if you get tired of eating what feels like the same thing over and over again.

I did enjoy my time at Caribbean Beach. I like to change it up with resorts.

The more I hear about how filling that Peanut Butter Cupcake is... the less I feel like eating it. :rotfl: I know I would just feel gross afterwords. I think I'm just going to stick with my heavenly red velvet. It makes me happy.

Okay, I'm a little jealous. Because I got the iPhone 4... and the camera is NOT that good. Like... don't get me wrong, it is good. But DANG that's fantastic.

Also, is that with or without flash? Because when I put my flash on, it looks smokey. :confused3 I don't know how to fix that.

Where is that Salmon Dish? Columbia Harbor House? It looks REALLY good! We went there in August and I ended up getting like chicken nuggets and some type of fried fish. Eh, I'm just not a huge fan of fried stuff. So a Salmon would be a PERFECT substitute since that is my favorite and it's like.. decently healthy! :goodvibes

AHHH DEER FACE!!!! YESSS!! :thumbsup2

LOL ahh going back to the room and trying to write about the trip. It always seems like a fail, doesn't it? :rotfl: I always end up doing it at meals and on bus rides because I just have no energy at night!

It definitely is a super filling cupcake. I probably won't be getting it again by myself, that's for sure. It was a little much. So yummy, but so bad.

Most of my pictures are without the flash. I found out that what creates the problems with the flash on the iPhones is that it bounces off of any case you may have on the phone, so I used no flash through the trip, except for a few rare instances.

The salmon was at CHH and it was really good. I recommend it.

I have another deer face during the trip too. Not an intentional one either.

I force myself to write at night, because otherwise I won't. Plus, I don't use a traditional notebook anymore, I use my iPad and wireless keyboard. Not lugging that sucker around.

I say "a salute to all nations, but mostly America" WHENEVER possible! I love Sam the Eagle! Have you seen all the Muppet movies yet, like the Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Take Manhattan? LOVE those movies! My hubby and I actually watched them last week, in preparation to watch the new movie, but we're waiting to see if they'll show that movie on our cruise in two weeks.

Your iPhone takes SPECTACULAR photos! I'm amazed at how good they are! Sigh, sounds like I need to upgrade my 4 pronto! Also, which app is it were you can talk and it will text for you? And what is Siri?

Ack, I love Starring Rolls! Although I am not a huge Butterfinger fan in general, so I tend to love the Red Velvet or the White Chocolate one. There are always so many choices. Soooo good, and so yummy for days!

And what in the world with the that ice cream sandwich? Were they trying to clear out all the ice cream left for the night onto one plate? That is ginormous.

Love the pics with your IPhone. I am not due for an upgrade for a few more months and think I will be making the switch to the Iphone. I do love my phone now though and with the Google phones, I've always loved the talk to text features and other things, so the Siri thing isn't too new for me in a way.

I'm sorry I've been MIA - things have been crazy and more lay-offs are looming at work which means more people running around like headless chickens. I have gotten behind on all the TRs I'm subbed to!!

I'm glad to hear that you could sleep on the pirate bed. And I recognize that salmon platter! It looks delicious! I would eat that right now!

I really enjoyed being solo - I didn't really feel like anyone treated me different and everyone seemed to be willing to talk to me once they realized I was all alone. There were lots of chats - except for the Germans. I think they were almost offended I could understand and talk to them; of course, I usually caught them saying not-so-nice things. The only friendly Germans I ran into were my last day at MK - there were two Germans behind me at the bakery, and a CM asked where they were from. When they said Germany, I said in German "how wonderful!; I miss Germany!" and they were immediately very friendly and open. That was very nice after all the other Germans I encountered.

I can't believe that lady at MK - what was she thinking? Clearly, you were in line. *sigh* People.

I was amazed at the quality of the photos on the phone too!

Siri comes with the phone and is the thing that you talk to that does stuff for you, like give you directions, find restaurants, read text messages, etc. It's pretty cool.

It did seem like they were trying to clear out all of the ice cream from the bakery by adding it onto the sandwich.

I hope that they bring the lights version of the blanket out for your too! I love that blanket.

I was literally biting my nails waiting for that cupcake. I wanted it so badly, I was mentally sending that guy thoughts so that he wouldn't buy it. lol

I don't think the Muppets are out of style at all. I just don't get people. Why wouldn't you love something that's so harmless and fun. My personal favorite is Muppet Treasure Island. I mean come on. To me it doesn't get any better than that. "Billy Bones!"

Sadly, that little baby did not come home with me.

Crossing my fingers! We have like two weeks until we're down there so there's still time to put one out.

Muppet Treasure Island is pretty good too, but I love the penguin skating party and all the rats working for Scrooge in Christmas Carol. Plus - the music doesn't get overplayed on the radio so I get to play it all the time at home!

Yay for it not being too bad! I really want a firm mattress right now, ours gets all wonky and half stiff, half soft with the cold nights. Booooo.

The iPhone really gets great pictures! I can't wait to upgrade but I have an irrational fear that I would lose all of my game files. I've put considerable time and effort into those!

Boo on unfun skippers. Isn't that one of the most fun jobs in the park? You get to make the back side of water joke!

I'm super excited about staying at the Poly again. I haven't stayed there for about 6 years I think. It's our "every once in a while" resort, because it's costly even for DVC points.

On to day 2!!!!

I woke up at about 7:30am and was out the door around 8:10am. Not bad. One nice thing about being alone, right?

I took the car over to Old Port Royale for breakfast. I hadn't decided yet if I was going to drive over to the Animal Kingdom, but even if I took a bus, I could keep my car there until I got back. Inside Old Port Royale, it was pretty busy. I decided to get a western omelet with potatoes and chocolate milk.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/5cce1a0a.jpg

The omelet was very yummy. Another thing I noticed while eating is that like getting ready in the morning, it's really nice being alone! I just got to eat at my pace and I don't have to worry about them. Very nice! :thumbsup2

I finished at 8:30am and was on my way. I decided during breakfast that I was going to leave my car at Old Port Royale and take the bus instead. One actually came quickly. I only waited about 5 minutes. I texted Megan and she said she was on her way shortly too.

I pulled into the bus area and texted Megan again that I had gotten there. She was just parking her car and heading towards the entrance. Good timing.

Look at those chompas!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/34ca5fba.jpg

The wait was only 5 minutes, which you know is the norm.

Got a good picture though.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/b447e9e5.jpg

I can guarantee you that many people probably thought I had 'done lost my mind. But I like it that way.

After Dinosaur, we headed over to the Safari.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/c10c3898.jpg

We were hoping to see the new baby elephant that was now on the safari. Sadly, it was not in the cards for us. I thought that the safari was a little disappointing this time, but that's only because we can't control the animals. There weren't as many of the "hard to find" animals out this time. Oh well.

I really liked the split of it. Being alone for some parts, being with someone for others. It was a good balance of the two. I recommend it to anyone.

Yeah the safari can definitely be a gamble. Those animals have a mind of their own. last time we got held up for about 20 mins because a rhino just stood in front of us and refused to move. They tried to move him on with that special Disney van that comes out of the bushes but the rhino was having none of that. He stood his ground and refused to budge. It was pretty amazing:rotfl:

As for the PP--I'm with you on that one..some people are just too stupid to live. She's probably one of "those"" people who also say why is it so crowded and I would never stay at a value resort too.

Yay on a solo trip! I want to do a real solo trip soon.

Too true about the lady I encountered. Likely just one of those people that really isn't happy.

Waking up and going at your own pace sounds great...I really need to do a solo trip. Just a couple of days, to see if I could handle it! I feel like I'd be ok in the parks, but I think I might get bored in the resort, with no one to talk to!

Looks like you guys had a fun morning at AK! I love the Dinosaur pic!

It was a little funny sometimes being alone, because you have those moments that you would typically turn to your travel partner and say something sarcastic, or funny, or discuss observances, and you turn to say something and there's no one there. :lmao:

woo hoo for morning at AK!! Ok, I admit to only having gone on EE once. But, mostly because I've never really had anyone to go with. I rode with my niece in Feb. But, I would LOVE to see the Yeti full operational! In Feb he was just a shadow! I read somewhere that he's anchored to to ground and would take a massive refurb to repair! Don't know if that's true!

I would believe for sure that the Yeti would take a lot to repair. I mean he's a huge piece of Audio Animatronic! I couldn't imagine having to do that.

I remember him moving from when EE first opened. It was pretty awesome. I mean, the ride is still good and he's still pretty menacing standing still, but the first time he swung at the train, I was scared.

Man, I wish I'd have been able to ride while he was operational - I barely saw him on DBF and my trip, and even then he was less than impressive. I think we rode EE like 4 times, too!

Disney Imagineers are so forward-thinking - did they really REALLY not anticipate that the Yeti could break down? Really? :confused3 Oh well, still a great ride!

I love getting up early! It's so quiet and peaceful (and not broiling hot..). I need to learn how to take on-ride pictures for thrill rides, I'm incredibly paranoid about losing things and having everything stuffed under the seats ASAP (also a compulsive rule follower).

I love Expedition Everest! I finally went on it and it was awesome, though I couldn't figure out where the Yeti was supposed to be? I'm not sure if the strobe light effect was working (... okay maybe I closed my eyes) or what. But for someone who never saw the Yeti, it's not really missing?

I'm wasn't very impressed with the Safari. I didn't really get the reason for the poacher storyline, I wanted to hear more about the real animals! But I think I had the wrong idea about what it really was as a 'ride.'

I'm glad you enjoyed being solo! I had a small amount of solo time but it wasn't quite as fun as I thought, but that may have been because my boyfriend wanted me to wait until he got back to do any rides. A photography trip would be fun, I think.

The Yeti could be easy to miss if you're not focusing for him (or closing your eyes. ;)).

The Safari used to be very different with the poacher storyline and it was much more relevant IMO back in the day.

Okay, yeah none of that happened, but I'm back to comment on TRs. Hi guys! :wave2:

I've been back for this week, but it's been so busy with work that I haven't been able to get anything done on the DIS. On top of that, my mom fell the other day down the stairs and fractured her fibula. Poor mom. :( She's doing very well, but it was a pretty long day and she's not feeling the greatest now. Hopefully I'll be able to find some way to lift her spirits.

I will be working on the first posts of the new TR tomorrow hopefully and will be posting an update for the others as well. Thanks for your patience and I hope to see you guys on the new TR.

When you call DVC or talk to the CM's at the resort, they swear up and down that it's a real mattress. It's kind of a joke really. The fact that the bed wasn't really uncomfortable was the only thing that made it okay.

I have Undercover Tourist which is a free app (they have Disney and Universal), and I also have Lines, which is free with my subscription to Touring Plans. I use them simultaneously because I want to see who has the answer that makes me happy. LOL

So when I left you many many many many many moons ago (that's what it seriously feels like folks. I promise not to abandon you like that again), we had just finished our ride on the Safari.

I mentioned to Megan that I wanted to go and see the Festival of the Lion King, because I seriously never see this show. For realz. Never see it. I think the last time I saw the show was in like 2005 or something.

Of course, she was fine with that, so off we went.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/053087e2.jpg

We headed in and were seated in the Giraffe section. That's right. They bleat and it sounds like baaa. A bleatin' baa.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/0d263b11.jpg

Here's our bleatin' baa leader.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/60103b0b.jpg

I remembered that this show is totally awesome and tons of fun!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/849512d2.jpg

Fire, fire!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/0cd6ede4.jpg

My favorite part. I want to be the flying girl.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/fc342656.jpg

After we thoroughly enjoyed our show, we both decided that we were hungry. Megan wanted Yak & Yeti, and I had wanted to go to Restaurantosaurus, so she headed to Y&Y to pick up her meal and said she would meet me at Restaufjdaogneaohi (it's an awfully long word to type!).

It took me a while and Megan actually managed to pick up her food and get a table by me before I even got to order. People were just being super indecisive. I never understand this. You're waiting in line for a while, have plenty of time to peruse the menu, and you get up there and go "uuuuuhhhhhh". Seriously!? Seriously!

Finally I got through the line and placed my order. Veggie sub with sweet potato fries and a chocolate mousse for dessert. I loved it in July, so I wanted it again.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/e0a62807.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/ec15cf33.jpg

After our bellies were full, we decided to head to ITTBAB.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/7f19ee1a.jpg

Now, here's a riddle. How fun would a 3D movie be if you were blind? I noticed that while we were heading into the movie, a group of teenage girls were heading in and their one friend was blind. Now, she was all about the movie, but I couldn't help but be a little sad about the other elements of the show she would be missing.

After the show, we decided that we would part ways, because there really wasn't anything left at the Animal Kingdom that we wanted to accomplish. Plus, Megan had been going since Friday and needed to head home and do some laundry and other household things. She told me she would give me a call the next day after work, so we could meet up for some dinner before I had to go and pick Chris up at the airport.

Overall, we had lots of fun together and I think it was a great DISmeet. I'm glad that we made the time for it and were able to hang out!

We parted ways and I headed back to the resort via bus. I got off at Old Port Royale to fill my mug and then grabbed the car that I had left there to drive back to my building.

Here's my building area, in case you're interested.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d08b2671.jpg

Ours was the building a little bit off to the right.

I wanted to relax for a little while. I had intentions of watching the Packer game, but for some reason they were showing the Giants / Patriots game. Boo. That didn't make me very happy.

So, armed with the WG and ESPN loaded to check the score, I headed to DTD to do some shopping and have some dinner.

I parked on the West Side and headed into D-Street first. I bought three Vinylmation.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/ca520e21.jpg

Then I just walked slowly to the Marketplace side, taking in the sights as I went. I was happy I was able to get pictures of these!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d5b848b7.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/e04063a6.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/123d6d63.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/9c2275d6.jpg

I shopped around World of Disney, TrenD, and Team Mickey. I was good and didn't really buy anything but the Vinylmation. I had to keep in mind that I only had a carryon to get me home, so I didn't want to buy tons of stuff.

I decided on Wolfgang Puck Express for dinner. Got this pretty shot on the way.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/2fd90966.jpg

It was pretty crowded, but the line went pretty fast. I got myself the 1/2 rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet tea, and creme brulee. I didn't take a picture because it was really dark outside and I didn't want to blind everyone with my flash and then clue them in to the fact that I was alone, and indeed taking a picture of my food. I'm a subtle food picture taker. Haha.

I took my time eating and just wandered around at a leisurely pace. Stopped at the Candy Cauldron because I needed my pear jelly beans people!

Saw this guy at Pleasure Island.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/1fa642cf.jpg

He was pretty cool. While I was walking through Pleasure Island, this girl was chatting with her family, very seriously turned to them and says "they only have seafood at the Rainforest Cafe...except for on the kids menu".....

:confused3 I was so confused. She was clearly misinformed, or clearly just plain crazy. I didn't know which one, but I didn't want to interject and let them know I was eavesdropping.

I headed back to the resort after that. I was indecisive about what I was going to do the next day. I knew sleeping in was part of it and that swimming would be too if it was warm enough!

Up Next: That's one quiet pool!

Oh, the giraffe section. The two little girls pulled up when we went to Festival couldn't make the sound and were so embarrassed! Really, they couldn't pick a bird or something that was slightly easier than 'warthog' or 'giraffe'?

That sandwich looks amazing! Though I think anything with that much cheese must be amazing. Unless it isn't actually cheese, and then I would be very disappointed!

You got the torch lighter! I love that one (despite being new mold which is apparently very important as I have learned after a cursory look at Vinylmation websites. 'Mold' doesn't even look like a real word any more!).

Wait, why would there only be seafood at the Rainforest Cafe? Like, it doesn't even make sense! It's in a rainforest, which by definition has other animals in there! And if they're buying meat/etc. for kids' meals, why not use it for the adult menu? Weird.

I just love your vinylmations. I really wasn't into them at first, but the kids started trading them in our last trip and now I love them. The Disney Store.com had a bunch of them on sale for $5 or so. A couple were even $1.99. So .... I got 12 of them, yeah I said it, twelve. We needed some inexpensive ones to trade. OK.. maybe I got a tad carried away ...maybe.

Ooh, that veggie sub and the sweet potato fries look delicious. Then again, I am just sitting here munching on cadbury mini eggs - not exactly substantial food, but mighty tasty. So some cheesy goodness sounds delish.

Um, I totally don't understand the seafood only at Rainforest Cafe. Where did she even get that from? :confused3 I would have a hard time not butting my nosy self in. That's probably why I get wierd looks from people all the time.

WPE - always a winner in my book.

Fantastic pics. Are those all with your Iphone? Have you totally enjoyed talking to Siri with it? I have borrowed my friends' phones just to strike up conversations with her. She has some hilarious replies. I once told her "I love you Siri" and she told me I was "the wind beneath her wings." Fantastic.

And ps. since you were a fellow MMC worshipper, were you also an NSYNC fan? If so, gave you watched the Rachel vs. Guy celebrity cook-off show on the Food Network? With mr. Joey Fatone? Fantastic. Ok, I'll stop hijacking your TR now.

Weird.

I think that Disney picked those sections just so they could hear people sounding really stupid. Anything to embarrass people I think...

I am with you. Anything with that much cheese is amazing! I just love veggies too, so mix them together and I'm a happy camper.

I was very happy with those vinylmation, even though I really didn't want the torch lighter, I wanted the Figment from that set. But I kept him, because I only trade when I REALLY don't like them.

The Rainforest comment was the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I was so confused. I think I had that look on my face too, like she had done lost her mind.

I loved vinylmations from when they first came out! I'm a huge dork like that! Oooohhhh, a sale at the Disney Store.com!? I may have to check that out. No shame in getting 12. I have come home with that many from WDW before....

OMG, you're eating Cadbury mini eggs?! Absolutely, hands down my favorite candy ever! I wait on pins and needles for any holidays, because they tend to release some version of them during that time.

I have come to the conclusion that people are just crazy, but that they make themselves crazier when they talk about things like they straight up know what they're saying. That's always so humorous to me. Say something with complete conviction, but you're wrong. So so wrong.

The pictures for this TR and my upcoming one are all taken with my iPhone (except for some random ones). I love it! I don't talk to Siri too often. However, I like asking her random questions like "what's the meaning of life". She said to me "to ponder questions like the one you just asked". :rotfl:

I was an NSync fan, although that was during the time when I was in absolute denial about being a fan of anything Pop because I was convinced that I was Goth and stuff (not kidding. No, I will not post pictures). I have not seen that show on the Food Network, but I may have to check it out.

I loved FOTLK - it really is an amazing show! :lovestruc

Lol at being seated in the Giraffe section and baaing along!! :rotfl:

I still have to try that veggie sub - it looks mouthwatering. That's great that you had fun with Megan before Chris arrived - it sure is great meeting people via these boards.

I've never been to Restaurantosaurus...I don't even know what they have there, but what you got looks pretty good!

OMG! I love every single one of those Vinyls that you got! I want the White Rabbit, it's SO cute! :lovestruc

DTD seems like a good place to be alone, because you can just wander and shop and it's not that weird! I mean, being alone in Disney isn't that weird, but shopping just seems a little more normal!

You're right, it really is an amazing show for sure.

Hahaha, I think they seated us in that section because I'm so tall. :lmao: No, not really.

That veggie sub is really great. One of my favorite things to get there. Nice that it's a little different than the normal fare.

I love these boards for sure! I feel like I've made so many great friends with the same interests.

Oooohhh, being a tumble monkey would be tons of fun! Except I'm not good at tumbling on purpose....

I hadn't eaten at Restaurantosaurus since when it was a buffet back in the day. Then when we went in July, we ate there and were very happy with it.

I loved the White Rabbit. I really wanted the caterpillar, but the white rabbit was fine.

Going to DTD was a lot of fun alone. I didn't have to worry about losing my travel partner(s)!

Thanks, she is feeling better. She has about 4-6 weeks for recovery, but she's taking it one day at a time. She's in a brace that she's not a big fan of.

Wandering around AK is great! It's a close 2nd for me behind wandering around World Showcase.

Oh, I forgot to post the Photopass pictures. You see, since I had two trips that were so close together, I managed to get two trips of Photopass pictures on one disc. It was like a two for one deal. It wasn't really a huge deal though, because on this trip there aren't many. Like at all. Because Chris is kind of a poop and doesn't like to pose for pics. Anywho, here's what I had up to this point.

Monday November 7, 2011

So, I was alone alone alone on this day. I apologize for any lack of pictures, but this day was pretty boring, so I'll get through it quickly. I had to pick Chris up at the airport on this day, but his plane wasn't landing until about 10:30pm, so I had the whole day. So the first thing I did?

Sleep in sillies. That's what I wanted to do. I knew once Chris was here, two things would be out of the question. Sleeping in and the pool. So, those were two things that were definitely on my agenda.

I slept pretty late. Until 10am, which is cray cray for me at WDW. I don't sleep that late there unless I stayed out super late. It was nice though. I headed down to the food court at about 10:30am. I took the car because it's easier.

I got the steak, egg, and cheese quesadilla. It was super tasty.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/53299c62.jpg

If anyone stays at CBR, I highly recommend this breakfast. It's really good, very satisfying and filling. It's also a nice change from the normal breakfast items.

I finished up, filled my mug, and putzed around the store for a while. I headed back to the room after that. I wanted to go swimming, and I knew that I wanted to go around noon, which it almost was. The weather was nice. A little cold for some, but I'm a midwestern girl. 78 degrees was plenty warm for me.

I went to the quiet pool next to my building. I wanted to relax and the quiet pools are always best for this.

Gratuitous leg shot. You could see how busy it was.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/09f87c3b.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/b5d958a6.jpg

I was armed with my iPad, crosswords, and my phone. There wasn't anyone there with me when I arrived. A little later, a family with a little boy arrived shortly after I did. He was having a good ol' time just jumping in and out of the pool. He was so funny, because he kept whispering (you know, the kid whisper that everyone can hear), "is that girl looking at me?", before he would jump in the pool. I guess he thought I was watching his every move. His mom thought it was pretty funny.

They left shortly after that and I hopped in the pool. It was a little cold, but nice once I was submerged. This pool actually went up to 6 feet in depth. I wish more pools were that deep. I remember as a kid them going up to 10 feet. Now, you're lucky if you get 5 feet. I understand the safety concerns, but really? I'd like to actually swim sometimes, you know? Not just wade around.

I don't even know how long I relaxed by the pool, but it was a while. Don't worry, I know the sun and I have a hate hate relationship, and I was putting on sunscreen often enough. :lmao:

When I was done with my pool time, I headed inside to take a shower. I took my time and got ready at my own pace. I was heading out to meet Megan at DTD later, but I wanted to run to the mall first. You know, retail therapy and all.

Before I left, I had a photoshoot with the Yeti though. Sadly, this was his only photoshoot, because Chris didn't quite understand my desire to photograph the Yeti.

I'm the King of the World!!!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/8a2cd4ef.jpg

I headed out to the Florida Mall after that. I shopped around briefly and bought a new pair of Crocs, a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt (which you'll see later!), and two other tops. Overall I shopped at Crocs, Forever21, and Cotton On. ;)

I left the mall at about 4:45pm. It had started drizzling a little and just as I was getting into the car, Megan texted that she was heading to DTD. I told her I was just leaving the Florida Mall. She told me it would likely take me some time due to traffic. However, it didn't take me long at all to get to DTD, only about 20 minutes. She was amazed that I made it that fast!

We met up at Earl of Sandwich and headed in. There was absolutely no line, which is totally unusual. But I'm not complaining. I ordered the tuna melt. Yummmmm.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/614a77f0.jpg

Megan got the holiday sandwich. We were both very happy with our choices.

Megan's roommate was on her lunch break from her job at TrenD, so she headed over and met up with us. We all walked around for a while and she was very nice. It was a lot of fun just wandering around and chatting with them.

After Megan's roommate headed back to work, Megan and I browsed around World of Disney and then headed to Ghirardelli for some dessert. It was calling my name, I just couldn't resist. I got the peanut butter hot fudge sundae and Megan got a waffle cone with mint chocolate chip ice cream.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/c7c3c83b.jpg

It was oh so yummy as you can imagine. We parted ways after that. I didn't want to hang around and spend money (hahahaha) and I had to head out to pick Chris up from the airport soon.

I headed back to the hotel and the towel animals had a photo shoot.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/4f492ae4.jpg

I headed out at 9:30pm to pick Chris up. All texts from Chris indicated the flight was on time. As I got in the car to start driving, my Mom texted me to tell me that Southwest website reported that the plane was actually landing early. Good thing I left early.

I got to the airport at about 9:55pm. I parked here...

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d72507f6.jpg

So I didn't forget. LOL.

Just as I started heading in, Chris sent me a text that they had just landed. I headed into the terminal and only waited about 10 minutes before Chris arrived.

We went to the car right away and started heading back. Chris mentioned that he was pretty tired. I figured that would be the case. He had worked all day. For him, that requires getting up at about 4:30am. We made good time back to the hotel and got settled at about 10:40pm. Good timing. We went to bed shortly after that? Why do you ask? Because we had a boy wizard to visit the next day.

Vote me in for shopping alone; I don't know a lot of people up here, and DBF is anti-shopping, so I spend a lot of quality time alone at Woodfield. I really enjoy it! Sometimes, I'd like to be with others, but most times I'm so accustomed to being alone that having someone with me can be annoying!

I live closer to Gurnee Mills, so we have a Rainforest too. LOL. But Gurnee Mills is NOT Woodfield, for sure. I tend to shop more at Old Orchard and Northbrook Court.

The Crocs store is surprisingly fun to look around in. There's just so many bright colors! And they have the 'nice' shoe line (You by Crocs or something; the headquarters of Crocs is near where we live so there's lots of Crocs shopping opportunities!) and there's one pair of heels that are super cute!

But hotel and pool days are really fun; sometimes I feel guilty about having a day where I stay in the hotel and just relax.. and then I remember it's my vacation so who cares? Fancy hotels are fun! And I'm lazy. :rotfl:

Your towel animals were adorable!

I agree, I like looking at the store. I've been fascinated by their You line, but I haven't actually bought anything from it.

I know, I feel guilty about the relax days too, but you're right, I do the same thing and tell myself, well I'm on vacation, so there's nothing wrong with it.

Haha, no worries.

You're right, it was a great way to spend the day being alone. I had thought about going into the parks, but I knew that I had plenty of park days ahead, so I figured why not do something at my own pace.

Fun update!

I definitely recommend doing it sometimes on vacation. In the past we would vacation commando style and we just figured later that it's just not worth it.

I was very happy that his plane was early. It worked out timing wise. I had brought my iPad with in case I would have to wait in the terminal, but fortunately I didn't have to use it.

Tuesday November 8, 2011

So this was Chris' official first day at WDW on this trip. And where were we going to be spending it? Not WDW. I know, it sounds like sacrilege. He had really wanted to see the WWoHP and I couldn't say no, now could I?

We were up and at 'um by about 7am. After we did all of that fun morning stuff, we were out the door by 7:45am. We headed to Old Port Royale for some brekkie before heading out.

And I got this lovely specimen.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/8a0c5e51.jpg

Mmmmm. Now everyone is going to want a Mickey waffle!

Chris got the bounty platter. He doesn't really do the whole food picture thing, and I don't intrude. After stuffing our faces, we were heading out by 8:25am.

We made it in no time and I valeted the car, since I get that complimentary with my annual pass for Universal. I like that it puts you up so close to the entrance. Because really, the parking lots at Universal are soooooo far away. Like, you know it's far away when they have to put in moving walkways to get you to the entrance of City Walk. And then, oh no, you're not even remotely close to the parks yet. You have to walk through City Walk first. Every time I go to Universal, I feel like I get my entire weeks worth of exercise just by the time I get to the entrance of the park! But that could also be attributed to the fact that I'm out of shape. :rolleyes1

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/cdef939c.jpg

And, in case you were curious, I took a picture of the Crocs that I was wearing. The new ones from the day before. When Chris saw them, he was like "those are Crocs?" Yes, yes they are.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/7ac0c1d4.jpg

I picked up Chris' ticket with my annual pass discount. I couldn't find it any cheaper, so I had just waited until we were there. It didn't take us to long and we were heading into the park right when the gates opened. Everyone was on their way to WWoHP, but fortunately the park was not crowded at all.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/5c477f99.jpg

See, I was so sure of the lack of crowds, I took a picture in the Port of Entry. Which I NEVER do.

So where did we go first?

Do you even have to ask?

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/6c6be85d.jpg

If you look in the picture very closely, the wait time is listed at 15 minutes. This was fairly accurate. We walked right on, but we know that it takes a while just to walk through the castle.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d2766ec9.jpg

This ride is still intense to me, but I'm much better now. But I did close my eyes a little again. I guess when the spiders came out at me, I just couldn't help it. Call it an involuntary reaction. :rolleyes1

Chris? He loved it. But throughout the ride, he was like "whoa, whoa, WHOA!" Hahaha. When we left the ride, he looked at me and said..........."whoa."

He did say more, but he was just emphasizing the fact that he thought it was cool. I mean, sometimes, you don't need to say more.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/acf3bfd6.jpg

See, not too crowded.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/173aa4cd.jpg

We spent a little time wandering around after that to get some pictures.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/fa00b0b8.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/5ee347fb.jpg

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/c739a8b5.jpg

After that, we went to the Dragon Challenge. Again, only a 10 minute wait posted. What I didn't like is that I didn't have anywhere to put my shoes, because it's an inverted coaster. So, they made me sit on them. Ummmm, Universal, have you not thought about the fact that someone's shoes might come flying out of, I don't know, the opening in the back of the seat?! I mean, seriously! So, instead of really enjoying the ride, I was nervous the whole time that my shoes were going to come flying out. Not fun. I did not want to be a shoeless wonder for the day.

It was still early at this point, but we were done with WWoHP for the moment and wanted to check out other things. But not without having some butterbeer.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d34e4761.jpg

And on that note, I end this update with the following picture.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/bce9e293.jpg

What do you think, did Chris enjoy his butterbeer?

Up next: Oh, yeah, the other parts of Universal.

AP to Universal? Hmmmmm. Never thought about that, but perhaps its more cost effective than buying a regular ticket (which are so expensive).

I really do want to try that ride. I have heard so many good things about it. On the other hand, I have seen so many pictures of butter beer that I have NO desire to try that. It just looks sickeningly sweet. Is that what Chris' expression is saying? I'm not quite sure. :rotfl2:

Who wants to sit on their shoes? I don't know why they can't set it up like other theme parks where you just toss them on the exit part of the ride. That's what BG does.

Fun pictures! :cool1:And Woo Hoo to the 15 minute wait!

The annual pass was more cost effective, because I knew for sure I was going three times in a 12 month period. I was glad I did it. The one that I got definitely came with a lot of perks!

The butter beer is very sweet, so if you don't like sweets, you definitely wouldn't like it. Chris loved it. He kept making jokes throughout the week that I could run us over there and go in with my AP just to get us butterbeers. LOL.

I was so confused about the whole sitting on the shoes thing. It made no sense whatsoever. Just poorly setup.

Your family and your silly faces ..... it always cracks me up !!

Yes, you will get there soon. The Forbidden Journey is a little intense. I think that's the best way to put it. It's not a roller coaster. It's kind of hard to explain. I look at it like a dark ride on crack.

I haven't been there yet, but I did see a VERY interesting website where a guy just so happened to be on it when it pooped out, and all the lights went on. Well my friend, you already know how I love the WWoHP area. 15 min. for Forbidden Journey? That's pretty sweet. It takes that long just to walk through the castle! Um, I may close my eyes and shrink back a bit when the spider is there, and maybe the dementors. A dark ride on crack - so true. crack is whack.

Funny, I have been on many rides before where I had to sit on my flip flops. Usually they are not as intense as the Dragon Challenge though. Usually I see a shoe cubby or you just leave your shoes on the floor as you climb on the seat and they are there when you return. I was paranoid that my room key/park tickets were going to fall out of my pocket on the ride.

I saw your man A. Rodgers in the sports analyst role yesterday. Wierd to see him all dressed up and sitting behind a desk. I am devastated by the way. Devastated.

As you'll see when I update further, it was actually like that at the end of the day too. Not quite 15 minutes, more like 20, but still, not much of a line developed really.

It was so uncomfortable to sit on my shoes! Crazy I tell you, crazy!

It really was the perfect time to go. Jason and I had low crowds in February and we were fortunate to have low crowds this time too. I was very happy. You're right, it is like the walk through the castle basically, what with the people who pause and gawk. LOL.

I have NEVER been on a ride where I had to sit on my flip flops. Most other places are like, kick your shoes off and go. How weird.

Wasn't it funny to see him all snazzy? It was so bizarre. Trust me, I was sad he wasn't playing, but they really messed up their last game, so it's no surprise, sadly. I was sad the Patriots lost too. I didn't want the Giants to win!

Ok, so instead of my replying after every single chapter & filling up your TR with my nonsense, I’m actually going to type this up in word now, and add on after each one before posting it :rotfl:
Chapter 3: I know what you mean about the iphone 4!! I had my camera stolen between Disney trips, and the one I got to replace it was supposed to be the “next generation up” and it sucks…so hard…so this most recent trip, I had my phone with me (and a data plan so I could tweet!!) and I took quite a few pics with it, and I found it was better than my camera for most of them. The zoom was awesome, I have the option of hdr’ing photos, so fantastic! (does it work well for rides too?!)
-I’m assuming you ate at CHH? That salmon looks good. I keep debating about CHH, as I’m not a huge fish person, but that dish does look tasty!
-I’ve been on JC once in WDW and seriously, had the most lack luster skipper ever, just an “oh no, a hippo, better shoot it, bang bang, good, its gone” in the most monotone voice ever!

Chapter 4: That omelet looks delicious!

5: GAAH! Fotlk, clearly the greatest thing AK has to offer, such an amazing show. I so much want to be that bird girl (and hopefully will be in a year! Agkjsdnj!!) That is all…

6: Such a quiet pool!! I’ve never seen an un-crowded pool at Disney (ok, that’s a lie, but a completely empty pool, that’s unheard of! Haha) Ok, can we just talk about how that first towel animal looks a little crazy with the one red eye?! Guh!! YAYAYAY HP!!! SO EXCIIIITTTEEEDDD

7:Uhm, of course you can’t say no to Hogwarts…that could & should clearly just be illegal (I think we’ve discovered my 2 nerdy things…hp…and Disney… *le sigh*) Yum! Mickey waffle!! So delic!!

Ah! That castle is just amazing (and has such a different feel than the Cinderella castle, but so amazing!) Holy, can we just talk about how amazing the Forbidden Journey is? One of my top favorite rides, that’s for sure. One of my biggest Orlando regrets is that I only went on it once! Oh well, just another excuse to go back!! When we went to WWOHP, it was my first Orlando trip, and I hadn’t been to a theme park in AGES, so all I did was FJ, heck even over at Disney all I really did was Splash! My point being: I didn’t do either of the coasters, that’s right, not even the Hippogriff. If I go back, my goal is to do both! How was the Dragon challenge (aside from shoe losing?) could you compare it to anything at Disney?

Alright, that’s all I’ve got for now!! (I apologize for my randomness, I’ve had a rather huge cup of coffee today!) I’m excited to read more!!

The rooms weren't that bad. People are kind of all over regarding the beds. Some think they're fine and others think they're bad. I didn't have a huge issue with them, so I was all good.

Haha, if those are your two nerdy things, I don't even want to start listing what mine are. We could go on for days and days.

FJ is really a great ride. It's unlike anything that I've ever experienced before. Every time I've gone, I have tried to ride it twice, because I know Universal won't be a regular thing for me going forward. I haven't done the Flight of the Hippogriff, because there are other attractions I'd rather do.

Okay this part about Dragon Challenge will be lengthy. There is nothing at Disney like it. It's a basic inverted (feet dangling) coaster. Nothing too spectacular about it. This leads to me and roller coasters (in case you wanted to know). I worked at Six Flags Great America for six years. So I've had my fill of roller coasters. This is why I love Disney so much, because it's not just rides, you know? Because once you've been on most of the iterations of roller coasters (inverted, floorless, speed, height, blah blah), they start to all feel like the same. Okay, rant over.

Well now I know I need to wear sneakers to Universal, so thanks! I can't wait to go to Harry Potter-land, though it doesn't look like your brother was feeling the butter beer.

Wearing sneakers or shoes that stay on your feet are definitely the best option, but only if you want to ride Dragon Challenge. Everything else is a little easier.

Riley would really like this ride I think.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/ff463300.jpg

We stopped in a few of the shops to get an idea of what Chris was going to buy for Riley (in case new readers are curious, Riley is my niece and Chris' 6 year old daughter). She had mentioned wanting some Cat in the Hat stuff to him before he had left, so we were getting an idea of what there was and making all of the purchases at the end of the day.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/0f5ebf1d.jpg

If I ran a zoo......well, it would probably be chaos. And Disney themed....

We made it to our destination.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/8f1a4301.jpg

I have such mixed emotions about Marvel Superhero Island. I like the bright colors, but it just seems like there could be more. You know?

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/42ccda25.jpg

This was our final destination.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/8dfddfbc.jpg

Chris really likes this attraction as do I. According to Universal reports, they are revamping and redoing the movie, so I'll definitely be interested in seeing what that's like when it's done. Oh darn! That means I'm going to have to go back to Universal. Well shooo....:rolleyes1

We walked through Toon Lagoon.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/dd8a1799.jpg

I never do anything here, because they only have the two water rides. I wish they had something else! I'm not a huge water ride person. I love the theming and such, but I really don't love getting soaked unless it's really hot outside.

Random side note. I love the fact that Brenda Starr is at the top of the Comic Strip Cafe. I used to LOVE reading that strip. Totally random when I was pretty young. I used to cut the strips out daily and make my own book of them. So I could get the whole story. DORK!

We headed into Jurassic Park. Every time I see that gate, I think of the music that plays when they arrive there in the movie.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/c0b85bb1.jpg

My what big teeth you have!

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/a029d67e.jpg

We decided to go here, because the folks didn't look like they were getting too wet when they got off the ride. Plus, neither Chris nor I had been on it since we were last there together in 2007. Wait.....scratch that. Chris was on it in 2007, but it had been even longer for me.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/28f98eb1.jpg

So the kid in the seat in front of us was terrified about the ride. He was in full on panic mode and his dad was just laughing at him telling him it would be fine. Not to laugh at a scared kid, but I could see where the dad was coming from. You could tell a good majority of this kid's drama was just him being a drama queen about it.

I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but I feel that this ride is totally lame, and now I remember why I hadn't been on it in so many years. It's just......meh.....lame.....fake.....boring....you pick a word and apply it to the ride. It also could be because I'm biased and I love my Dinosaur at AK. Nothing else is quite good enough.

After visiting with the LAME dinosaurs, we went back through Superhero Island. Our final destination? (not THAT final destination.....I hope).

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/58b6600f.jpg

We both like that ride. For me, it's a coaster. Nothing too overexciting, but remember that I used to work at a Six Flags for six years, so coasters have to be AMAHZING to thrill me anymore. Cedar Point has some of the best in case anyone is wondering.

At this point we were finished at Islands until later in the day, when we wanted to come back to ride the Forbidden Journey again. So, we headed out to Citywalk for some lunch.

Up Next: Lunch and Universal Studios!

Hey, off topic is totally fine! I love Cedar Point too. I love Top Thrill Dragster and Millenium Force. Definitely my favorites. US has a few good coasters, but for me nothing that's like "amazing, I've never experienced something like that before!"

I love that picture too! When I was typing the update, I just had a random thought that when you really look at it, it's like he's really not feeling well.

You should definitely go back soon. I get the same way. I think I'm okay without going and then I look at pictures and have a strong desire to return. However, I went three times in this last year, so I think I'm good for a while.

I love that they give free valet with it too. It's only with the Premier Pass, but when I got it, it was worth the price difference when I took into consideration the amount of times I was going and would be parking. The walk is very far, especially at the end of the day. When you first arrive, it's not bad because you're all fresh and ready. But at the end of the day, it's just kinda brutal and feels never ending.

Right?! Once you've been there and been on what they have to offer, everything just seems so lame in comparison. People always ask me why I like Disney so much. I explain to them that it's because they offer me something different than just run of the mill roller coasters. I get an overall, immersive experience, which is much more important to me. :thumbsup2

Yup, I really do know. And totally agree.

I do water rides when it's scorching hot out, but I also dislike walking around wet any other time.
I always feel Jurassic Park is a little lame too, particularly because it comes from such an epic movie!
I was too scared to try the Hulk. Definitely not wimping out next time though! DH told me it's not so bad.

Haha. I would be completely up to it! Friends of mine from Six Flags (and me), loved coasters and we used to actually go to different theme parks around the country to experience the different coasters that they had to offer. I didn't make it to tons of them, but I think I've been to plenty. Oddly enough, I love the feeling of nervousness and stomach dropping. I always try to recreate that. :lmao:

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that was about water rides! It's just uncomfortable.

At least someone else understands about Marvel Superhero Island. I love comic books too! So much potential....

Jurassic Park is an epic movie. Man, I remember the first time that I saw it, I was like....."wow".

The Hulk isn't that bad of a ride. Really, once you get past the launch sequence, it's pretty mild. But remember, coaster freak here, so mild to me could be completely crazy and insane to someone else. But if it makes you feel better, my mom has been on it and doesn't think it's that bad (for a point of reference from someone who doesn't LOVE coasters).

My other bro Jason hit the nail on the head when we were there in February. He said that it's like Universal picked up the attractions, tossed them in the air, and just let them fall where they may. I kind of agree with that assessment.

WWoHP is really well done. I really hope that they keep the same attention to detail for the section that's going to be placed at the Universal Side.

I kind of wish we had explored more over at IOA when we went, but we did HP & Jurassic Park. You say it's not as bad as dinosaur? All of Universal rides to me just seem to be just rides/coasters (this is coming from me not having gone on any of them) and stuff I wouldn't like, but I'm going back to WWOHP in Nov, and plan on going on more of them then!

I just think that Jurassic Park in comparison the Dinosaur is really lame. But I like Dinosaur a lot, so that is likely where my opinion is coming from.

If you don't like coasters, then I would suggest not going on Rip Ride Rockit, The Mummy, and Dragon Challenge. I personally love the Mummy, but it is a coaster style ride, so you may not love it.

Definitely go on Men in Black, ET, Shrek 4D, Disaster (it's cheesy, but I like it because I'm a huge Christopher Walken fan). The Simpson's might be a bit much if you suffer from motion sickness. But explore and check things out.

Ooh, I think you summed up my thoughts completely when you said that Disney is more of an immersion experience versus Universal. It is kind of choppy and not a lot of logic in the flow of the park.

Totally agree with the lost potential in Marvel Superhero area. We got to see the "parade" of superheroes and I was like, that's it? They just ride the motorbikes out down the street and it's done in like 4.5 seconds?

Jurassic was a bit Lame and when we went it smelled a little funny too. That was enough to distract me. I don't like wierd smells.

Day 4 - Tuesday November 8, 2011

So we left off with Chris and I heading out of IOA and on to Universal. We had not eaten lunch yet, and let's all remember that I really dislike the food at Universal as a whole. Like, other than Mythos, I still had not eaten anything there that I deemed edible. Now, I know it may seem like I'm exaggerating, but you have to consider that if you've had three separate bad experiences, at three separate CS locations there, I mean, let's take sports talk. They were batting 0 and 3 for me.

So we headed into CityWalk and ate at Burger King. It's a good old standby. You know what you're getting.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/c56de437.jpg

It was fresh and hit the spot for us. After that, we were on our way to our next destination.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/1e7a8cdd.jpg

Then, the coolest thing ever happened! We spotted the Despicable Me minions! "Da da da!" I love them! They weren't taking pictures with people anymore, we just missed them. However, their handler was nice enough to let Chris and I take a picture of them without us in it RIGHT before they left.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/45319930.jpg

We were waiting for our stomachs to settle, so we headed to....

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/d158d5b5.jpg

Wow. Lame. Like, I remember when Twister came out and we thought it was epic, right? So we go in here and I'm not saying it's horrible. But there are better things. And you can tell it's outdated, because Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton look so young in the clips. And Bill Paxton is rocking a sweet sweet mullet. Like, the sweetest mullet ever. Universal.....remember, this movie was filmed in 1995. Let's do some basic math......we all know what Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton look like now, and it's not how they look there.

Anyway, I digress. The other thing I forgot, because I haven't been on this attraction since Dinosaur's roamed the earth, is the fact that water falls from the sky (ceiling?) and if you're standing too close to the front, you'll get wet.

Who was standing in the front?

This loser.

Fortunately for this loser, the twister comes and the "wind" (fan?) blows so hard that you dry off. So it wasn't so bad.

Afterwards, we headed over to....

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/a89f8fdb.jpg

Where my stalker was waiting for me.

http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt359/daniellevoss/WDW%20November%202011/1018ded6.jpg

You know, he followed me from ancient Egypt and stuff. I can't shake him, but what are you gonna do?

And here is where we encountered frightened child number 2. She was having a full on panic attack before we got on the ride. And her dad was basically making her get on the ride. It was like drama queen child day, because again, like the other child on Jurassic Park, you could tell that she was milking it. He kept telling her she would be fine. She was not convinced. In any way shape or form. But she got on the ride. And basically had a meltdown the entire time.

Mummy....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

Scarab....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

Fire....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

My ears....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

I was so happy when it was over. And she still was not happy. Giving her dad a dirty look all the way down the ramp. (Also, let it be known that this girl was about 12 years old. Prime drama queen age).

Up next: You cannot escape the mouse.....he's EVERYWHERE!

I didn't notice any weird smells. But then again, I may not have really been paying attention. However, one thing that Farrell and I noticed was the fact that Universal overall had a stinky smell. Like, either it smelled like garbage or sewage in some areas.

I got stuck on the Mummy once for what seemed like an eternity. As a result we were given 4 express passes for whatever ride we wanted. We didn't need them because we were already staying on site, so I kindly offered them to a family of 4. But I didn't know the mom was huddled in the corner still having a nervous breakdown over the ride having gotten stuck. Either that or it was just her husband and teenage boys who got stuck. Not sure. At any rate, once I offered them the passes I noticed her completely stressed out state and she screamed at me (an I mean screamed) "I don't want those. I WILL NEVER GO ON THAT RIDE. NEVER. WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" :scared1:

It was a little unnerving, to say the least! Looking back, it was quite comical and her poor embarrassed family was trying their best to calm her down.
